And it's an interesting mentality, right because usually when players
get a two month break, it's the true offseason, and
usually for the Sounders it's at the end of a
playoff run, whether winning or whether losing, it's the end
of a playoff run. Today it's middle of the regular season,
and the mentality right now ahead of a two month

break with this games, it must be interesting.

I mean, you're a former player.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
The dynamic there, the mentality is it must be an
odd one for sounder players today.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
It definitely must be. It's interesting because you would like
to think that things like this don't impact.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
The way that players play, but it is a big deal.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Whether conscious or unconscious, you're walking into that game almost
by habit, thinking all right, this is my real last
chance to make a difference, you know, And so it's
definitely something that changes the way that people are going
to play, how hard people are going to play. They
think about international big, they think about, you know, if
there's anyone in the World Cup squad.

So it definitely has a major impact.

Well, I'm glad you mentioned that because the big, big
news this was a report from The Guardian yesterday and
they had the scoop online that the United States men's
national team roster is out. Mauricio Pochettino has selected his squad,
according to this report from the Guardian and Christian rolled On,
according to this report, is on the roster for the

United States. He becomes the only player in MLS that
was an MLS player both in twenty twenty two when
he was on that World Cup roster and in twenty
twenty six being on this roster, and yeah, the dynamics quame.
I imagine it's interesting. I imagine the conversations that happened
between Christian and his teammates and Brian Schmitzer about about

the World Cup ahead and making sure that he plays
at Christian Rolldon's high level in this game while having
the World Cup on his mind.

That is very true, you know, like I said, it's
going in thinking about every little nick and ji and
playing in that kind of six or eight pivot type spot.
You know, you go into the tackles hard. You're there
to send a message, You're there to be that enforcer
in the midfield, and so how do you really position
yourself to make sure that you're going in and playing
as hard as you can, but also taking care of
your body because being on a World Cup squad is

a once in a lifetime experience, an opportunity.

Well you mentioned that and speaking of that, people probably
haven't seen this because it just happened thirty seconds before
we took the air MESSI the Goat. He's playing for
Inner Miami and he just came off with an injury
in the seventy third minute in Miami's game against Philadelphia. Now,
that could be an apparent injury, it could be wanting

to just go get in the locker room. But he
came off the field and immediately went to the locker room,
and that kind of exactly situation. You want to make
sure your body's ready to go for the World Cup.
So Christian Roldan has that on his mind. Obviously, other
international players for the Sounders as well, but want to
give their absolute best for this game at LAFC.

Let's get to that delta.

Starting eleven for the Seattle Sounders, it's Andrew Thomas and
goal Kalani Cozerienzi will be your right back. Your center
backs today are the obvious one, Jackson Reagan, and then
the other center back is Kim Key. He who makes
his first start of the season. He's had quad injuries
throughout this season so far. He's back and he is
starting next to Jackson Reagan Knew who is at left back.

You're holding midfielders are Hassani Dotson and Christian Roldan that mentioned.

Then the attacking midfielders.

Has whu's Frere Albert Rusnak, Paul Rothrock with Jordan Morris
up top. In that formation, and I think kwame the
headline on this team right now is just finding more goals,
because right now this is a Sounder team that has
seventeen goals scored in twelve games.

We need more offense.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
We need Jordan, we need Paul, we need Albert, we
need Has. We need this attack to really produce more,
especially in a game against high powered LAFC.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Yeah, that is true.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
You know, it's interesting because you do want to focus
on the successes here, and you know there's there's a
decent goal differential. I think Seattle's up, you know, plus
seven in the goal differential here. So ultimately it's gonna
be a tight game, right seven goals goal defensive for Seattle,
a six goals goal differential for LAFC. And so it
becomes a battle of who's going to put the goal away,
who's going to put the ball in the net, and

who's also going to defend best. But ultimately, we do
have a really attacking minded, you know squad right now,
So how do we put one or two behind the
net and then make sure we didn't defend well?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
It certainly hasn't been attack minded so far. I mean,
we just we need, certainly need more offense. There's been
a lot of one nothing games this year and losing
two nothing against the LA Galaxy. We need that attack
mindset in this squad. Meanwhile, facing an LAFC team that
loves to transition. They are a transition first team. You know,
we talked to Brian Schmitzer. We heard the conversation and
we know that he wants to play a control game

here and the midfield with those players for Seattle is
going to be very key against that type of game
that LAFC wants to play.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Yeah, no, it's going to be an interesting one.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
You know, you have players who have the capacity and
the ability to score, right, it just comes down to
converting when you get those opportunities. There's going to be
a lot of back and forth playing. Like you said,
LA is a very transition team. You have two stellar
players in Sun and Bowanga who have the ability to
take on multiple players, get in the box and then

convert on their own. And so it becomes how do
we stop those players but also then kind of get
that mindset on our players as well. Right, Ultimately, Seattle's
a very team oriented team, right, we do we convert
a lot off of the first touch goals. We're crossing
the ball into the box a lot. Do we have
players who can come out here? I know we saw
an incredible solo goal by Ferrera, you know, not a
couple not too long ago, and so how do we

get more of those types of opportunities and create those
for ourselves.

It's exactly right, because if there's any big criticism of
the attack, it's that they're passing too much. It's just
you know, take the shot and and you try to
you know, final pass not there, final ball not there,
but take the shot when you see it. And Hayseu's
took that shot and as you mentioned that that was
an amazing.

LAFC team and they love the transition they have sun,
they have longer, so many talented players. What do you
see for the sound against this LAFC really talented attack today?

Yeah, more than usual.

When you lose the ball, be alert because this team
is a team that can go seventy eighty yards in
the black of a night.

Speaker 7 (10:11):
They've got those two up top. You want two of
the very best in MLS when they're at the best.

They've not been at their best, but it's a team
that could break out, especially at.

Home on any given day.

So I think it's when you have the ball and
you give it away, even in high areas under pitch,
how quickly can you recover counterpress number one?

If you can't win it back right away, get into.

Your blocks and defend from there, because if you let
them run run round all day, the quality of banda.

Sun is up there with the very best we've scene
in this league.

Steve, you're right outside of downtown Los Angeles, and in
any match in LA the topic of heat obviously comes
into it. So humid in there is the weather gonna
play a role at all tonight there in that stadium.

Now, it's good as some of those mainly nights were
getting the Pacific Northwest.

But but the weather is pretty good here today, not

Zachowani down there in Los Angeles. Now at Kwame, I
think with that all said, LAFC, this is a team
right now that has been having really poor results. They're
six five and three on the season, twenty one points,
barely holding onto a playoff spot right now. Uh with
you know, and they have two more matches played than Seattle.
You mentioned their goal differential being less than Seattle as well.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
They haven't won a match in a month.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
They will beat Minnesota won nothing and since then they
were limited by Tuluka and CONCA CAF Champions Cup. They
got a drag in San Diego at the last second.
Then they have losses to Houston at home, Saint Louis,
and then last year against Nashville. When you're facing such
a talented team who's been on a losing streak, that
scares me, Kwame.

That is very scary.

You know.

I do think football is a game of momentum, and
sometimes if you're in the right place the right time,
things just happen. And right now it seems like maybe
it's not really clicking for them. But it's also a
little dangerous because when you think about a team with
so much talent, you also have to equate that with
the wild card team. Right it's a team that you
can show up thinking, hey, they're not playing their best.
We're gonna, you know, do our best play simple play

this play that you kind of have this game set,
this mindset that you come into the game with thinking
things are gonna work out this way and hopefully this
doesn't end up being that breakout gain that they have
that's always been sitting and just waiting and marinating and
ready to pop out, you know. And that's what you
fear when you go into a game like this.

Yeah, that's exactly what I fear right there. But they
have Buloga six goals of five assists. Sun leads them
with nine assists, Timothy Tillman's a great player in their
midfield three assists, and then the Venezuela and David Martinez
has five goals and two assists as well. They are excellent,
and then defensively they've been great as well. Seventeen goals

conceded in fourteen matches. The big news for their team
is that their starting goalkeeper, Hugo Larisse, a former Tottenham keeper.

possession is certainly more of a forte for this team

Yeah, and I think, well, usually you made a point
of moments the ball used to see the TV. So
the transition dependent heavy on trying to hit you and
account attack LAFC. They are trying to add a little
more variety to their game now, but they definitely are
one of the bigger teams.

The successful teams don't need to have the ballborn game.

They don't need to make ten, fifteen to twenty past sequences.
Frequently they're okay going south to north in two to
three passes, trying to hide at this said behind you.
But in recent weeks they have added a bit more patience,
a bit more keeping a board, so it should be
also a very good chest left.

Here comes Son outside of the right foot to this
near side, to Bruwonga, who's been the main man here
in LAFC for a number of years. Son strikes the
ball looking for his first goal still of this campaign.
