the Rams' decision to take Ty Timpson. I just wonder
how much of the blowback from them taking Matthew Stafford's
success or made them determined to go get Myles Garrett.

Well, first of all, I do not share that same
criticism that others do about the Ty Simpson selection. And
I think I will agree with you that the Rams
have gotten significantly better. I mean, Miles Garrett, Jalen Watson,
Trent McDuffie. Now they've got Pokinakua all pissed off and
playing for a new deal because he doesn't have one
as of right now. And I mean, is this going

to result now to Mike and Aaron Donald coming out
of retirement? I mean, you tell me, at least on paper,
how much better have the Rams gotten versus the team
that we saw in the NFC Championship game last year.

Well, a lot of people believe that last year's NFC
West and NFC Championship and all the under the Super
Bowl Championship came down to that crazy two point play.
Zach Charbonne nonchalantly picking up the ball in the end zone,
thinking it was an incomplete pass. Terry McCauley of Prime
Video picks up the phone, Alertswald Anderson, the NFL rules
analysts that maybe they should take a look at that

they do that play doesn't happen.

Maybe the Rams are the ones who won the Super Bowl.

Maybe the Seahawks are the ones trading for Miles Garrett
to try to get past the Rams. That's how close
the margin is between the two teams that I think
were the best two in the league last year, all
due respect to the Patriots. If the Rams and Seahawks
had been in different conferences, they would have been the
two Super Bowl teams in my opinion. So this closes,
if not establishes a gap all the betting odds, not

that that really means anything.

It's just a reflection to the betting habits.

But to no surprise, now that the Rams have Miles Garrett,
people believe the Rams are going to win the division,
win the conference, win the super Bowl. They're the favorite
in and all three And it makes sense if he
has a year like you said last year, consider this,
he got twenty three sacks for a team that was
tied or trailing two thirds.

The Rams were ahead two thirds to the time last year.
This is the guy who's never had the opportunity to
go out and chase quarterbacks who were down in the
second half predictably in passing posture. That's the hell of
a way to rack up sacks, and it makes it
a lot harder when you're playing for a bad team
that isn't leading games. So those twenty three sacks, who

knows what they become with a Rams team that you
know has the lead once in a while.

Mike, why is it that only three teams that have
been preseason favorites going into the season have won the
Super Bowl since two thousand?

Because there are so many factors that ultimately determine the
outcome of the season unrelated to how good the team is.
When you look at the example I gave earlier, that's stupid,
screwy bounce to the all crazy play.

Aided by the call that was made by Terry McCauley,
I mean, the margins are very very thin.

And although it's you know, it's not like it was
in the seventies when there was a huge gap between
the best team and the worst team.

But it's really not dramatic. Any team can beat any
other team any given day, and among the best teams,
you really don't know how it's all going to shake out.
It could be the weather, It could be a bad
call which is a good call for the other team.
It could be a crazy bounce of a misshapen ball
that bounces all sorts of different ways, a bad decision
made at the worst possible time. Too many things influenced

the outcome. And I also think when you're end of
the season as the presumptive favorite to win it all.

I remember Washington in two thousand, they just kept adding
Hall of famers Bruce Smith, Deon Sanders, and if.

There was a vibe like yeah, I just cancel the
season to give them the Day of Trophy and they
didn't even make the playoffs that year. I think it
adds extra pressure, and how the team responds to that
pressure has a lot to do with whether or not
they ultimately fulfill their potential.

The other side piece, obviously, sidebar of this Miles Garrett
deal is what does it mean for Aaron Donald. I mean,
we've seen the videos on Instagram, We've seen his wife's tweet,
he went, you know, texted McAfee about it the other day.
What would you put the odds on Aaron Donald coming
out of retirement to join the rams.

At so to fall up to him, he's been out
of it for two years. Yes, he's thirty five, but
he doesn't have the wear and tear that he would
have had if he had played in the twenty twenty
four and twenty twenty five seasons. But as he said,
he's got to find a way to light.

The fire again. He was burned out. But if one
of the reasons he was burned out and he was
facing two and three guys every time he lined up.

If it wasn't for the Miles Garrett news, the AJ
Brown News would have gotten a lot more play. What
kind of fit is he in New England. I'm trying
to figure out if he was a diva problem in
Philly or was it just a very frustrating situation for
him because of the offense that they ran.

Something happened between him and Jalen Hurts that we may
never know the true route cause of He did an
interview with Maria Taylor that they learning and Brown downplayed
the rift with Jalen Hurts as people drift apart well
when you're a teammate, when you're in a situation where

a quarterback and a receiver, that's a special relationship.

The receiver's success or.

Failure depends on the quarterback and they typically get along

I think it was a combination of whatever happened with
him and Jailen Hursts, and his willingness to express concerns

about the team's failure to evolve offensively. He made those
comments last year, and I think he was willing to
come off as maybe selfish, as a selfless act to
get the team to wake up. And I think what
he wanted, and I think others in the locker room wanted.
This comes from the reporting of Derek Gunn, who's covered
the Eagles forever. He said last year during the season
that Jim Hurts isn't running the offense the way they want.

Him to, and he knows there's nothing they can do
about it because of the way his contract structure. They
can't cut him, they can't trade him, they can't bench him.
He's on the team. I guess they could bench him,
but he's on the team and he's.

on the show a couple of days ago, and she says,
you know, there's just really nothing going on with this
contract right now. And are the Rams gonna go into
the season with Puka Nakua in the final year of
his deal or you see that maybe getting something done
before before the season starts.

With him his off field issues. And look, it's good
that he.

Got treatment to rectify whatever issue in his life he
needs to have rectified. But I think it created enough
turmoil that he doesn't feel justified in taking his manding
that he gets paid. He should, in theory, be saying,
I ain't doing anything until you give him my contract.

I'm going into my fourth.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
Year at a relatively low salary compared to the market,
compared to what he's earned. He's every bit as good
as Jack and Smith and Jig, but if not better.

Recklessly, and I think that increases the injury risk. That
he should be expecting forty million a year, and he
should be expecting it before the start of the season.

you know, you put that kind of money into his pocket,
does he revert back to the things that created issues
and to end up regretting paying him? So they got

But time is on their side, and I think they
just want to wait and see how things go. And
maybe it's one of those deals he gets done right
