what is going on with the rebuild of the what
the palisades? Right from the last couple of years or whatever,
have they started rebuilding down there? What's going on? I

think it's about going about the same way as Leahina.
Oh wow, yeah. I mean people that they can't rebuild
their houses, a lot of people. There's a few people
in my neighborhood whose homes burned down for renting homes
in our neighborhood, because it's kind of like a mirror
community in some ways. On the other side of the
Santa Monica Bay, a couple of couple of friends of

my daughters had lost their house. If you can imagine.
And I'm really glad that they were out of town
when my garage exploded, because they live a couple of
doors down. Yeah, probably would have been pretty traumatic for them.
But I think it's going about as slow as you
could imagine, with the bureaucracy of the State of California
being what it is.

I mean, no, I don't either, But that's where we
you know, we've because special interests and different entities have
all found a way to delay things and get paid
out of things, and find a way to make it
hard on people. And that's just what it is. Yeah, Well,
you tell that mayor down there, what do you call
her again? What's Mayor bus cut?

Tell Mayor bus Cut that that's not good enough for me,
all right, and our friends up here in the PNW,
we expect her to move quicker, to get people back
on their feet. And you tell her that we demand excellence.
And that has been over good enough.

It's been over a year. And I think if you
look took a put a drone over the Pacific Palisades,
which really was one of the nicest neighborhoods, not just
in southern California or the LA area, but in the
whole world and a world famous place. I mean, if
you put a drone over there and uh and looked
at it and that was an arsonist too, I think
it would be shame. You'd be ashamed at at the

lack of providence. You know what, we spent billions of
dollars on a train that has like one hundred yards
of track. It's not even like a billion, it's like
fifteen billion. It's something stupid like that. So we I mean,
we just don't. I don't expect any of these things
to be resolved in my lifetime. Can we just move on?

I'm sure they've been together in some a kid may

they took Terry. But you know, I mean, I don't
think that whatever's happening with the Dodgers is an indictment
on the Dodgers as much as as it's an indictment
on the rest of the teams. Right, And in most
situations that's the opposite. Right, somebody says I'm not crazy,

You're all crazy, and that person usually is the one
that gets taken away by the guy in the white coats.
But in this situation, the Dodgers aren't crazy. Everybody else
is crazy. The Dodgers have found a way to reinvest
and and make tons of money. They have a great
TV deal, and they found a way to reinvest in
their program or their franchise in all kinds of different ways,

and they found different ways to monetize their product. And
they're not losing money paying Mookie Betts till the end
of now. Things are going to get ugly. They're old.
Rookie Betts is like on year seven and he's got
six more years on his deal and he's hitting two
twenty right now. Freddy Freeman is unbelievable, but he's old,

you know. Shoe Haletani's in his thirties. Ti Oscar Hernandez
is in his thirties. They want to make history, they
want to win back to back to back, and then
they're going to probably we'll see how Andrew Friedman deals
with it. Maybe he retires and tries his hand to
being the GM of the Lakers. Who knows, but because
it's the same owner. But I think they're going all

or nothing. And they gave the ten million on top
of some of the prospects for schoobl And the only
thing that bothers me about it is everybody's been talking
about how the Dodgers are wrecking baseball, and look at
all this money they've been spending, and that's been going
on for years and years, and they've lost. They've been
swept out of the playoffs. They barely won the World

Series last year. It was literally inches away. Two or three.
Things had to go totally quacky, like the Andy pa

ball getting stuck so it was a ground rule double
instead of rattling around. You know, all of these things
had to happen just so they could barely win the
World Series last year, and now all of a sudden,

it's not fair. I think it's not fair that other
teams that have billionaire owners that don't reinvest in the
same way that the Guggenheim Group does. I really and
I'm not one just because the Dodgers are on the station,
you know me, I don't care, but I do think
that just because they figured out a way to become
a destination everybody wants to be at, it's a lot

like that. On where I live in palas Verni, Softy,
there's two and now there used to be three high
schools where I lived, right and it was bar or
Lessed High, palas Verti's High, and Rolling Hills High. And
you were basically chained to whatever border you lived in,
so you had to go to a certain school if

you lived in a certain area. Well, years later, you know,
they configured it. They closed to some of the schools
and reopened them. Now there's two schools. There's Peninsula High
and there's palas Verne's High. And guess which one is
sexy and popular. Palas Verne's High and there's no border,
and everybody goes there, and all Peninsula has is tiger.

Moms and and tennis, hey man, And we can't.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Get anybody to come out for our football team because
like the other football team is like one hundred and
twenty kids going out for it, Like we can't find
balance because they've become a sexy destination Pallas Verdi's High,
and it bothers me more than anything in the world.
But I can sense that it's very local to me.
But I'll tell you what. The same thing in baseball,
The Dodgers are. You know, they're a sexy destination, that's

all it is.

Nobody would be talking about this if you guys weren't
coming off a back to back championship. And you're exactly
right that I remember, up until a couple of years ago, saying, God,
the Dodgers are you know, I mean, I'm not gonna
say they're like the Astros, but they're kind of like
the Braves in the nineties where they would win all
these games and not be able to finish.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Up until Stan Caston. You know who's the president of
the Dodgers was the guy that was in charge of
the Braves all those years ago. I mean it's uh,
there was there was a lot of parallels there.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Yeah, well they finally popped. I mean the you know
twenty one to twenty three you lost in the.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Row. John Elway had that Elway that rep Yeah, you know,
he can't win it all, he can't get there, He's
not gonna And then he won two straight and now
no one ever says that. So I don't think it's
fair to blame the Dodgers for what's going on. Of course,
if Schooble was out there, they were gonna hang around
and try to get him, and we'll see what happens.

And if they do cancel baseball over this, I'm gonna
be kind of butt hurt because of the four hour shows.

Lot of teams could have made a run for schoobl
They didn't give up anything to get him.

Crazy thing is all the great pitching that the Dodgers have,
like Otawani and Snell and Glass now who's guess on
his way back at some point and Yoshi Yamamoto who
was the World Series hero last year was unbelievable. Last year,
Schooble's still the ace. You bring that guy in and
he's automatically in front of all those people. I guess

it shows you how good he is.

Well, I'm looking forward to it. I'm kinda If the
Mariners can't do it, which they probably won't because they
suck right now, I would root for the Dodgers because
I just want to see chaos. I'm a big fan
of chaos, and if the Dodgers win, there's going to

couple of years and then what come back in twenty thirty? Yeah,
do you expect Lincoln Riley to be the USC coach
when it's back?

Well, why do you care about that?

I mean, I'm not worth the rivalry back right, Well,
he's the one that caused all of this. Okay, you
know I mean that now I understand that Notre Dame
in USC playing earlier in the year, maybe that's something
that had to happen because there's a lack of viability
in modern college football, because everybody wants so badly to

get to the playoff. There's a lack of viability to
have good games early. There's not a lot of them
this year on the schedule. I think we were talking
about this last year or last week. So having Notre
Dame USC play early, I guess is kind of a
necessary evil. But the fact that there's a generation of

football players and I mean generation like freshman, a senior
four years that aren't going to get the opportunity to
play against Notre Dame, which is a huge part of
playing USC football and being a USC football player. That
bothers me because the executive this should have never gotten
to the public. It should have never become a thing
(12:34):
that anybody knew about. This should have been negotiated by
Pete Levaqua and Jen Cohen in the way that all
of these things are negotiated and dealt with. What bothers
me the most is nobody ever talked about this be
going away or being a problem before Lincoln Riley became
the head coach. It's something he said around the time
(12:55):
he was hired. He started kind of downplaying the rivalry
and talking about it's not fair and this and that.
Never heard that from any USC coach ever before, and
I never heard it, And that's where all this started.
So I blame him, don't. I don't think he has
the right or should not have the power to do that.

I understand that the landscape of college football has changed,
but I think this was a cowardly thing. It's a
black mark on the history of the rivalry. And it's
like saying, wow, look we cleaned up the giant pile
of trash that was in the middle of the street.
It's like, okay, well, why was the giant pile of
trash in the middle of the street in the first place.
You know, it's your job to keep that street clear.

And they the executives in this situation, the administrators, they
really failed us, the ex players, the alums, and I
think the sport in general. But I'm glad that they
figured it out. I'm glad that there was enough backlash,
not just for me, of course, I think they had
a lot of donor backlash. Yeah, a lot of the
old donors. Yeah, I mean that. I'm glad that they

were influential. No, I don't. You are the one that
said that. But I think that there was enough. I'm
glad that there was enough backlash for both sides to say, hey,
we better get this figured out. But obviously they're not
not figured out enough because they're not going to do
it for till Lincoln Riley's an offensive coordinator at e
CU again or in the NFL. Yeah, whatever, that's a difference.

same way that the Guggenheim Group does. I really and
I'm not one just because the Dodgers are on the station,
you know me, I don't care, but I do think
that just because they figured out a way to become
a destination everybody wants to be at, it's a lot

like that. On where I live in palas Verni, Softy,
there's two and now there used to be three high
schools where I lived, right and it was bar or
Lessed High, palas Verti's High, and Rolling Hills High. And
you were basically chained to whatever border you lived in,
so you had to go to a certain school if

you lived in a certain area. Well, years later, you know,
they configured it. They closed to some of the schools
and reopened them. Now there's two schools. There's Peninsula High
and there's palas Verne's High. And guess which one is
sexy and popular. Palas Verne's High and there's no border,
and everybody goes there, and all Peninsula has is tiger.

Get anybody to come out for our football team because
like the other football team is like one hundred and
twenty kids going out for it, Like we can't find
balance because they've become a sexy destination Pallas Verdi's High,
and it bothers me more than anything in the world.
But I can sense that it's very local to me.
But I'll tell you what. The same thing in baseball,
The Dodgers are. You know, they're a sexy destination, that's

Nobody would be talking about this if you guys weren't
coming off a back to back championship. And you're exactly
right that I remember, up until a couple of years ago, saying, God,
the Dodgers are you know, I mean, I'm not gonna

the Braves in the nineties where they would win all
these games and not be able to finish.

Up until Stan Caston. You know who's the president of
the Dodgers was the guy that was in charge of
the Braves all those years ago. I mean it's uh,
there was there was a lot of parallels there.

Yeah, well they finally popped. I mean the you know
twenty one to twenty three you lost in the.

Row. John Elway had that Elway that rep Yeah, you know,
he can't win it all, he can't get there, He's
not gonna And then he won two straight and now
no one ever says that. So I don't think it's
fair to blame the Dodgers for what's going on. Of course,
if Schooble was out there, they were gonna hang around
and try to get him, and we'll see what happens.

his way back at some point and Yoshi Yamamoto who
was the World Series hero last year was unbelievable. Last year,
Schooble's still the ace. You bring that guy in and
he's automatically in front of all those people. I guess

it shows you how good he is.

Well, I'm looking forward to it. I'm kinda If the
Mariners can't do it, which they probably won't because they
suck right now, I would root for the Dodgers because

I mean, I'm not worth the rivalry back right, Well,
he's the one that caused all of this. Okay, you
know I mean that now I understand that Notre Dame
in USC playing earlier in the year, maybe that's something
that had to happen because there's a lack of viability
in modern college football, because everybody wants so badly to

get to the playoff. There's a lack of viability to
have good games early. There's not a lot of them
this year on the schedule. I think we were talking
about this last year or last week. So having Notre
Dame USC play early, I guess is kind of a
necessary evil. But the fact that there's a generation of

football players and I mean generation like freshman, a senior
four years that aren't going to get the opportunity to
play against Notre Dame, which is a huge part of
playing USC football and being a USC football player. That
bothers me because the executive this should have never gotten
to the public. It should have never become a thing
(12:34):
that anybody knew about. This should have been negotiated by
Pete Levaqua and Jen Cohen in the way that all
of these things are negotiated and dealt with. What bothers
me the most is nobody ever talked about this be
going away or being a problem before Lincoln Riley became
the head coach. It's something he said around the time
(12:55):
he was hired. He started kind of downplaying the rivalry
and talking about it's not fair and this and that.
Never heard that from any USC coach ever before, and
I never heard it, And that's where all this started.
So I blame him, don't. I don't think he has
the right or should not have the power to do that.

I understand that the landscape of college football has changed,
but I think this was a cowardly thing. It's a
black mark on the history of the rivalry. And it's
like saying, wow, look we cleaned up the giant pile
of trash that was in the middle of the street.
It's like, okay, well, why was the giant pile of
trash in the middle of the street in the first place.
You know, it's your job to keep that street clear.

And they the executives in this situation, the administrators, they
really failed us, the ex players, the alums, and I
think the sport in general. But I'm glad that they
figured it out. I'm glad that there was enough backlash,
not just for me, of course, I think they had
a lot of donor backlash. Yeah, a lot of the
old donors. Yeah, I mean that. I'm glad that they

were influential. No, I don't. You are the one that
said that. But I think that there was enough. I'm
glad that there was enough backlash for both sides to say, hey,
we better get this figured out. But obviously they're not
not figured out enough because they're not going to do
it for till Lincoln Riley's an offensive coordinator at e
CU again or in the NFL. Yeah, whatever, that's a difference.

I don't like this move. Yeah, this was bad. This

football in the Big ten? Is that good enough for
Washington football?

And there's probably no If they win ten, then they're
in the CFP conversation and maybe even in the CFP.

got some landmines usc Iowa, Nebraska out there in Lincoln
and then Indiana, Oregon back to back the last couple
of games, so maybe they got to be ten and

then they're in the conversation for the CFP. And maybe

that's what you're judged by now, is get your ass
in the tournament and maybe Fish has a good year
and gets hired away, and then you can get a
shiny new toy that could maybe build it up to
