Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for our weekly conversation with college football enalyst
Petros Papaenikas.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Not that I'm a smart guy, I'm stupid.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Brought to you by Sweet James Accident Attorneys.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Forty one years.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
If you're hurting.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
An accident, called Sweet James right away at eight hundred,
five hundred and fifty two hundred. Sweet James will be
sweet to you, but tough on insurance companies that will
bully you. I don't know bo Now with Petros Peers,
Dave's softy muller ow.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Righty, boys and girls, here we go on a busy
Wednesday afternoon right here on ninety three three KJRFM, that
time of the week, that time of the day, Every
Wednesday at four o'clock we get a chance to talk
to one of the premier sports talk radio hosts this
country has to offer. One half of the legendary, highly rated,
financially successful Petros and Money Show in Southern California, USC

(00:59):
football star ambassador for Southern California like no other one,
damn fine Greek American Father of the Year, Husband of
the Week, Dad of the Day, and my friend Petros Papadocus.
Brought to you.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
By ah, Sweet James, the dense beard of justice.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Oh, they can come through for you. You know, if
you've ever been in a car accident or a motorcycle accident,
maybe of a dog has bitten you and you're growing
and your loins. Sweet James knows how to come through
an eight hundred nine million. They've amassed over a billion
dollars for thousands of clients over the years. And you
don't pay a dime until you settle eight hundred and
nine million, eight hundred nine zero zero zero zero zero

(01:42):
zero or sweet James dot com. What is going on
with the La Lakers? I thought they were sold like
a year ago. Now they're saw again. Less than that.
There was announced last summer that the guy Mark Walters,
Mark Walter, not his group, Mark Walters Group, the googen
Hut group owns the Dodgers. Mark Walter separately was buying

(02:05):
the Lakers. And Genie Buss and the Jesse and Joey
Buss got all butt hurt. And there were many articles
and it was all shoveled into the mouth of Ramona
Shelbourne from ESPN, and she was able to digest out
a sympathetic article for everybody to consume and now the

(02:26):
same thing has happened. They have fed Astory to to
Ramona and it's out there. It's been less than a year.
I think the sale was official in October. Genie Buss
is still on her deal to hang around, and I
don't think her shares, which are of course not as
much as they were and not a majority share, are

(02:46):
not affected by this. But yeah, they sold it to
Bob Eiger and Josh Kushner, a couple of really rich guys,
and Jared Kushner's bro right correct twelve and a half
billion dollars two and a half billion more than they
sold it for last summer. I guess it's just the

(03:07):
same news that you saw. And of course there's all
kinds of theories and conspiracy theories and people talking about
things that certainly are not on my level of understanding.
As an old short yardage tailback and somebody who enjoys
dancehall reggae as a pastime and reads the Jamaican newspaper,
I'm not exactly playing in the macro economics field with

(03:30):
a lot of these people. And what a lot of
people are talking about, well, this.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Has to do with the improprietary insurance situation, or they
weren't on the White House, And I mean, I get it,
like I can see all of that, and it seems
really it seems.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Like odd timing to have bought it. And then maybe
but there's all kinds of things. Maybe the lockout's coming
and this guy needs a cushion. Maybe he was just
a holder for Bob Eiger and Kushner to buy. Yeah,
different opinions, lockout, I.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Know What's Gonna give it? Frich Guys by Money, trap.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And the lockout is a lot easier to stomach when
you're when you're sitting on a two and a half
billion dollars How was that? That's the lockout song of
opinion produced by Who Petrol Money Show Opinion, Lockout, Know.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
What's Gonna give it? Frich Guys by Money? What trap
it out?

Speaker 2 (04:37):
That's catching catching And that's not Ai either. That's not
a real guy with a real band. We have all
kinds of different people who contribute things the show, some
of it. Some of them are our producers and singers
and stuff like that, and like to contribute different things.
And that guy's name, he's contributed a lot to the show.
He's a great guy. His name is Steve Bush must

(04:59):
be and uh he lives in North Carolina. Yeah, we
don't get that. I get, I get Jackson, and I
get I get Dick. Don't see there. Okay, you well
you have your weird text voice. We don't have that.
Everybody's got that revolution everybody Gonzi. Yeah, we have on
the web everybody text voice. Oh that's enough, that's enough.

(05:21):
We get it, all right, all right, I'm sorry. We
have all kinds of stuff. Maybe we could build one
for you and send it up there. Have at it.
I mean, if we're gonna spend you know, the entire
spring and summer and not watching baseball, may as well
have some fun and goof around. Well out there, we would.
What we would do is play the lockout song because
there's a difference of opinion. Lout know what's gonna give it?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Rich guys by money.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I wrote one for Tim Kats the other day. Uh.
He didn't sing it that well. He did the first
verse very well. Trek's Google watch, Where will he go?
All the big team are calling Boston or New York?
Where will he end up going? On Monday? Tarret's Google Watch?

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, hope he ends up in LA.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
What do you think the hell's going on down there?

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Man?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
All trying to stop I'll throw a bunch of frisbees
running again. Well, don't do that. But that's uh, that's
really quality stuff right there. Well, you know, I'd rather
I'd rather talk about that and hear that than talk
about my baseball team. God, they suck, man, Jeez, they're
having a tough time. The only way I know they're

(06:43):
struggling is from your very angry tweets. No, they're not angry. Sad,
Oh sad and frustrting gone through the spectrum of upset.
The sadness is kicked in. Man. I'm just resigning myself
to the fact that these guys they just they suck again. Man.
You know, to steal a line from Rob Schneider, they
suck again. It's tough, man. You guys should be very,

(07:04):
very proud of your baseball team and appreciate what you
have down there, because they are the envy of all
of baseball and our team is not. So congratulations And
I you know, I sat with Mookie Betts the other
day with you can see it on Instagram as a
fine interview brought to you by Corona, find your player.

(07:26):
And you know, Freddie Freeman's a great guy. Joey Otani
apologizes every time he steps into the batter's box for
just living. And you know, Blake Snell is a quirky guy.
He's a pretty nice and fun guy. He's from here, yeah,
I know, that's why I said. And he's a and
he's a fun guy who likes to play a little

(07:48):
grab ass and months he's a weirdo, but he's our
weirdo and he's always had that personality. This is not
a team of villains. I mean, it just doesn't feel
I know that everybody feels like the Dodgers are this
villainous and maybe they are financially and maybe they're causing
a lockout a difference of opinion, if you will, But

(08:08):
I will say, top to bottom, most of the guys
in this team seem like pretty great guys. And they're
they're kind of dancing on a fine line from being
really old and trying one more time to win another
World Series in a row. And god knows, I mean,
Mookie Betts has got like six years left on his
contract and he's batt in eighth or seventh right now.

(08:28):
This is. You know, this is not going to be
pretty in a couple of years probably well, who knows
what they'll do, but it's certainly not a hard team
to root for if you if you're around them a
little bit. It doesn't feel like like the Evil Empire,
you know, it doesn't feel it doesn't feel like George
Steinbrenner's Yankees. I mean, it's a it's a professional baseball team,
and some people suck and some people are cool, but

(08:50):
most of all, like the core of the team, they're
I mean, Niggi Rojas is a great guy to talk to.
Keyk is a great guy, Tommy Edmunds a Stanford guy.
I mean, they're mostly pretty. Ti Oscar Hernandez has a
nice personality, although he's not playing well. I mean, top
to bottom, they're really nice guys, softy, so you should
be happy for them, not a bunch of weird grunge

(09:11):
rockers with nipple rings like the Baroners. We had the
t Oscar raup here as well. He was great for us.
Blake Snell's from the North Seattle area, and I just
nobody had a problem with the Dodgers when they were
missing the World Series three years in a row. Now
did they all of a sudden they get, you know,
a little bit lucky. You know you needed the Mickey

(09:32):
Rojas home run a year ago to be unlucky. I mean,
there's like twelve things that happened just in that Game seven.
That's those plays in center right when the Dodgers are
really milking it like a fat cow, Like they have
a bobblehead for they have a bobblehead for Andy Pie
has knocking keyk Over. They just had a maxim. I'm
not kidding. They just had a Maximuncy shaved it to one,

(09:57):
made it four to three. Game seven, bobblehead night. Wow,
they just did that, and the wow there was like
a sackfly. I guess that they're going to have to
get in there, so they are really milking the God.
That'd be like Petrows. That'd be like Washington making a
bobblehead of Dante Pettis going up seven nothing against Alabama

(10:18):
in the first quarter of that Peach Bowl in the
semi final ten years ago, and then they got run
the rest of the game. I remember that, Let's just
enjoy this, Let's enjoy this moment, though. I mean, they're
just like trying to savor every moment from the game, son,
But you know, they were inches away, just inches away
from losing that game a whole bunch of times. And
it is interesting because people are like, well, it's not

(10:42):
fair the Dodgers. That's like, well, gosh, they had to
have a lot of good things to go right for
him just to win last year, and this year it
looks like it's even going to be harder because they're
older and Otani's a little beat up, and he's not
pitching right now, and they have put all their eggs
in the basket of trying to win three straight not
knowing what's on the horizon. Absolutely, I think it's a

(11:03):
pretty good story. It'll be an interesting postseason. Of course,
I'll be wrapped up in the college football world, which
is the most important world in the history of the world.
Now you'll be wrapped up with your negotiations to call
USCU dub on national radio talks. Still in talk, Still
nothing yet to report. They said they would call me
on Monday, and that was two weeks ago. But then
I talked to another guy who said, are you doing

(11:25):
that usc Washington game. That guy said he's gonna call
you and hire you. I said, okay, I'm so we're
still in talks. We're still waiting. You know, we have
a new radio voice for you, dub. Yeah, they finally
called up the sideline guy. That's right, the sideline gal. Yeah,
sideline gal. At least Woodward Woodward is now the first official,

(11:45):
we believe, we think the Bob Woodward of Washington Football,
first official full time female radio voice of a college
football team, at least an FBS team. I know we're
all big fans of our forty one yards, but I
don't think she's ever done radio full time. So yeah,
Alise Elise Woodward, get to you should have her on

(12:07):
the show, by the way, get to know that name. Why,
because she's freaking awesome. I don't put play by play
guys on. That's not true at all. You've had plenty
of play by play guys on your show. Has Joe
Davis ever been on your show before? Not in years?
That's not true. It's true, not at all. Am I wrong? Cads,
I'm not wrong. Why won't like we make a general

(12:29):
practice of not putting play by Why won't you put
a lease on the ear? You got a problem with
a chick doing football. Yep, I'm a total Okay, then
forget who won you. I'm very happy for a lease.
I think she may have stolen an interview from me
at some point. Oh really, yeah she did. She's cutthroat

(12:52):
down there. She tends to do that. Man, you gotta
watch it like that. You'll watch out. She'll steal right
in the neck like a viper down there. Hey, are
you are you talking at all about she's up in
the booth where she can't hurt anybody anymore. Are you
talking about any of the congratulations to Elice? I hope
it's a great season. Are you talking about any of
the WNBA drama on your show Stephanie White fever head

(13:15):
coach telling people to go to hell yesterday? The place
I talk about it is here, or if they ask
me about it on the national radio shows, I don't.
I don't care as much. I guess I'm interested. I
was always interested in watching Caitlin Clark play. Once. I
watched a couple of her games at Idaho or excuse me,

(13:36):
iiO Randals Iowa and watched her control the game and
go up and down and not just score, but the
assists and all the cool stuff. And the deep threes
made it very interesting, so I followed her career in
that way. I feel really bad for her because people say, well,
this would is like for Jordan, and this what it
was like for all these Kobe when he came into

(13:56):
the league. It's like maybe but physical maybe, but not
the political bs not being kicked back and forth for
somebody's agenda. And athletes don't want to need to have
a nuanced, very educated opinion on some social issue that
you can't be right about no matter what you say,

(14:18):
because fifty percent of the population is going to get
after your ass. And then the issue about the trans
athletes is amazing because I think I don't know eighty people.
Ninety percent of people think that it's logical that women
and men should be separate when they play sports. And
just because you have some kind of proclivity or you,

(14:44):
I mean, I accept all kinds of people, and I
love counterculture and subcultures and all the stuff like that,
but I think most logical people don't think there should
be men and women's sports to do what most of
us think should be done, which is p women. I
don't think I'm some kind of radical saying that, but

(15:04):
apparently that's a radical opinion, and Caitlin Clark hasn't even
said that, and she's getting in the coach as an idiot.
Every time she says something her brain falls out of
her mouth. And Sophie Cunningham is taking advantage of it
because she's kind of a lightning rod for attention and
she has an opinion about this, and good for her

(15:26):
that she has an opinion. It just doesn't seem like
the WNBA is able to handle the attention right that
Kaitlin Clark has brought, whether it's on the court or
off the court, or like every day I click on
OutKick or Fox News or some other I check all
the different websites every single day, as you know, and

(15:49):
every day it's like Cuttingham slaps back, you know. I mean,
everybody's using this as there as their platform. And it's
just so because I would guarantee that ninety five percent
of the people that are talking about this or have
some really formed opinion about it are not even watching

(16:10):
the WNBA. They're just using it as a vehicle to
get their message out. I have no message. I just
my message is, Man, the WNBA is poorly run. They
really suck they have been unable to take advantage of
this moment where they have a lot of attention, and
it's become such a negative thing. Night in and night out.

(16:34):
The story is a negative story. And I mean, it's
stupid to think that they would let a dude run
around there. I mean, what Clay Travis says, whether you
like him or not, is true. A high school boys
basketball team would beat the women. That's not an insult
to the women. It's a different sport when the women

(16:54):
are playing and the men are playing, much like tennis.
I thought what Serena Williams said on David Letterman or
whatever years ago was brilliant. They were talking about Billy
Jean King or something like that, and Serena's like, I'm
not in the business of embarrassing myself. It's a different
sport men's and women's tennis. And I would never do
that play against demand because I would be absolutely embarrassed.

(17:16):
I would not win a point. And I just I
don't understand why you know they're booing this person in
this place there. They can't they can't control or handle
their own league or their success. It's it's very sad.
It is sad. I think you're right. They do need
new leadership that commissioners. I love the leadership at the
at the Seattle Storm though, Oh yeah. I like that

(17:40):
ownership group coming down from the sky and ripping fans.
It's like, no, it's a good looking group. We got
to run well. Talking a week all right, Way to go,
love you. That's Trus Papinakus, Larry Stone on the MS
and more coming up at five. I'm ninety three to
three KJRFM.
