Speaker 1 (00:00):
They split Lynch to the right, the pass goes to
the left, it's taken by Robert Turban and Turban takes
it into the end zone. So the backup to Lynch
with Lynch split to the right, comes out of the backfield,
takes the swing pass, and Richard Sherman sets him up
with the interception and Seattle takes the lead.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
You know, I don't know if I've ever heard al
Michael's that fired up. By the way, it was pretty
excited for al Michaels.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Holy cow.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Well that guy right there joining us on the radio show.
They call him Turbo, our old buddy, Robert Turbin joining
us right now on the radio station.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Turbo. What's up, dude, How are you man?

Speaker 4 (00:36):
I'm doing excellent.

Speaker 5 (00:37):
Man.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
By the way, I still love Al Michaels on the
broadcast on Thursday night, so big shout out to him.
But I'm doing great, man, Great to be on the show.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Well, it's great to have you back on the air. Man.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
This is the time of the year, whereas you know, dude,
anything Seahawk related as golden. Because this team is on
a frickin' roll. So before we talk about the running game,
want to get your thoughts on K and I and
the Zach sharbon Day injury. I think Dick and I Jackson,
both of us are fairly surprised that we're sitting here
talking about a football team that's fifteen and three and
a game away from the Super Bowl. Did you see, honestly,

(01:10):
Robert offseason back in July, this type of season happening
for the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
No, I didn't not even close. I mean I saw
a playoff team, for sure. I thought three teams in
the NFC would in the NFC West would make the
playoffs Obfcy Seattle being one of those teams. But the
way that they've been on a tear this entire season,
I didn't see that coming. They've been like a you know,
he came out of nowhere like a blizzard to a

(01:38):
lot of teams in some ways, and so it's been
exciting to watch. And the team has really grown and
gotten better throughout and they started playing their best football
at the right time, and a lot of times that's
key when you're entering the playoffs turbo.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
The Hawks have not had to travel much.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
We know their schedule has been very favorable down the stretch,
and they had the bye week. Meanwhile, the Rams they
flew to Seattle and back to Atlanta and back to
Carolina and back to Chicago and back and now they're
gonna fly to Seattle.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
How much does that matter?

Speaker 5 (02:09):
Can the adrenaline just make up for that or is
that fatigue real and a big edge for the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
I think it can be real, but not as much
in playoff competition. In playoff competition, you know, those things
really get eliminated. I think, in my opinion, I think
the more important thing to look at when you are
evaluating the Rams is what kind of ball they're playing
right now? And I gotta admit, like, this doesn't look

(02:38):
like the best version of the La Rams. And if
there's anything to worry about as a Rams fan, that
would be concerning to me.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Why is that? You think? What's going on with them?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
If you were on in LA and they asked you, Hey,
what's the difference between the RAM team that you're seeing
now versus the team that was thumping the Seahawks after
three quarters on Thursday, say night football a month ago?
What would you say? The difference is? What are you seeing?

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Well? It's two things. For me. I'll start on defense,
they're not as strong in the secondary. We can all
agree on that, we can all see it. But offensively,
they don't pull away they used to like in the
past that na are just the Bears. Would would have
been a two touchdown win for the Rams. Yeah, because

(03:29):
they're able to capitalize on other teams mistake and continue
to score points. The one thing you used to fear
about the Rams is that you had to be so
detailed and so intentional about protecting the football and taking
advantage of your opportunities because if they get the ball
on offense, they're likely to score. And that's not the

(03:50):
version of the Rams that you're that you're seeing right now.
They didn't pull away against Carolina when they had the
early lead, and they couldn't pull away get the Bears.
And that's a little bit.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Concerning talking about this run game.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
What is different about what you're seeing from the Seahawks
run game the last month or so versus what you
saw in the first three months of the season.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Well, I just think that the continuity has just grown.
It's gotten better. Like even even with coach Kubiak, his understanding, Like, Okay,
Kenneth Walker, what did he do well what did he like?
You know, I think those were still things that they
were searching and finding the first half of the season
as they were trying to get to know one another.
And the hard work is paying off because you know,

(04:33):
Ken Walker just kind of kept at it even when
he was frustrated throughout the season and there were games
where he wasn't getting really the carries and he wasn't
getting the attention that he started to take advantage of
his opportunities and he kept working hard and he didn't
get down on himself, and that is to me a
testament not only to him and his work etset, but

(04:53):
I think really good coaching as well, because there's a
lot of coaches that are just kind of throw you
to the maybe give up on a guy, et cetera.
But this staff is not that way. You know, they
they they buy into their guide the same way that
they want the guys to buy into them as coaches
and what they're implementing. And so the continuity has just

(05:16):
grown and the confidence because of that is really building,
especially with Ken of Walker. And it's been cool to.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
See Robert Turbins with us, a member of that Super
Bowl forty eight championship team. We can talk about this
defense compared to that defense in a second, rob But
I'm just curious, going back to the K nine situation,
how do you handle Zach Sharburna not being available? I
guess you just simply put give Kenny Walker more carries,
or you feel comfortable leaning on Vellas Jones or George

(05:45):
Hallani or maybe using Rashid Shiheed.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
More out of the backfield.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I mean, you want to you want to sign you know,
a free agent contract and show up this weekend and
play for the Hawks.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
You got maybe five or six more carries in you.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Palle don't don't Timmy what a good time now? Okay, go,
do not send me with that. No, this is one
of those This is one of those times, you know,
you pull Kenneth Walker to this side and say, hey,
you know it's it's bell cow time now, buddy. You
know this is h You know, this is your time.
And for Kenny, you know, I don't even know if

(06:18):
he likes to be called Kenny, but you know from
day nine he's gonna shrug his shoulders and say, you know,
then they're done that, been there, done that. I've been
the guy that carried the ball. Twenty twenty five times
a game before. Uh, and so you know, because you're
in such a rhythm with him and not so much
with the other back. The other back, you won't dismiss

(06:38):
those other guys because they got talent, but you're certainly
gonna ride the shoulders of Kenned Walker. The third moving.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Forward, turbo.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
How much does run in for a contract matter, because
it just it looks like Kenny Walker is running for
a contract right now.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
It's a big time thing, man. You know, it's it's huge.
I mean, it's uh, everybody's trying to get to the
second contract and in a meaningful one. And you know
kN nins no strander that he won't talk about it
publicly or or or put it in those in those words,
but the truth is that it's you know, it's a
reality for a lot of guys. Look at Kyle Pitts

(07:15):
in Atlanta, the tight end had his guest career of
his best season of his career this year. You know,
everybody's been waiting on that. But guess what, it's also
a contract year for and so yeah, it's a big deal.
And again, you know, you look at the first half
of the year or certain parts of the year where
it just wasn't looking like it was going well. You know,

(07:37):
for Kenna Walker a third and you know it's frustration.
You can see it in the body language and all
those things. But he's continued to work in the results
or really can't pan off well.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Robert Turbin with us turbos on the year, follow him
on x, Twitter or whatever you want to call it.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
At Robert J. Turbin.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
The least we can do is get you a couple
of followers, by the way, for your social media account, man.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
But appreciate it. I'm curious.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
I'm curious about your thoughts on this defense, dude, because
you ran against the y Lob in practice many many
times when you were here. Now you have a defense
that the last two games held the Niners to nine
total points when they were putting up points like a
freaking rocket ship before they played the Seahawks. So do
you see any comparisons, any comms, anything about this defense

(08:21):
that reminds you of the LB back in thirteen.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
I mean, just the dominance, just just the pure I
think fear that they put into opposing teams that play
against them. I can remember, you know, in our days.
You can just see it. When our defense stepped on
the field, the opposing team was like, oh snap, you know,
like we we all know about tonight, you know. And

(08:45):
I think that this defense this year is doing very similar.
No matter what anybody has to say at the podium
before the game, they can talk as much trash as
they want to. When they step on the field, there's
some business decisions and some question marks being made, and
you can tell, and you can tell you can tell
from their coaching staff as well. Though I want to

(09:06):
continue to be aggressive and my more conservative conservative, et cetera.
The thing I love most about the defense, and I've
talked about this a few different times, is how disciplined
they are. Okay, and and I really mean this. When
you watch them play, they play the game like it's practice.
They they play each play like it's a rep at practice,

(09:29):
like it doesn't they don't. It almost feels like they
don't know it's third and seven. They don't know that
the team just blocked a field goal and got some momentum,
or had an interception or made some sort of big play.
They have no idea because it's just the next rep.
That's how they play and with that comes with this
level of discipline where when you watch the game and
you watch these guys play, how much pressure they put

(09:52):
on the quarterback and you know how aggressive they are
and they're tackling, and the type of plays that they're
making in the secondary. I don't see very many rough
in the passer calls. I don't see very many defense
of holding. I don't see very much passed and the
fear they don't get penalized with the level of regression

(10:14):
that they play with, and I think that's really impressive.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
Pete was really really conservative when he had the lob
and you probably love that as a running back because
he ran the ball more than any other coach in
the NFL. So is that the way to win this
year as well? Do you think this should be a
run first, run, second play action past third type offense,
because especially over the last three or four weeks, that's
exactly what they've been.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
No way. I think that it should be whatever the
game is giving them that week, that's what it should be.
And I think that's what really the Seahawks have done excellently,
you know, over the second half of the season. I
think that's a lot of the reason why they're in
this position. Have they been more intentional about running the football? Yeah,

(11:02):
but I think the game plan and who they're playing
against really dictates that. I mean, like the forty nine ers,
for example, what was their weakness the ring games? Defending
the run? Defensively, that's their weakness because they don't got
the horses. Yeah, okay, so we're going to take advantage
of that and ensure that we run the football. And
so I think that that coach Kubiak and the Seahawks

(11:24):
offensively have just done a nice job just adjusting to
doing what is working for them for that particular game.
And to be able to have that level of versatility
is impressive.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Case in point, what thirty eight to thirty seven Thursday
night and then thirteen to three in week eighteen, two
weeks later, right, two totally different games at the Hawks
won in any way they got to win, but Robert
Turbin again with us and Turbo. I'm just kind of
curious about your thoughts on on Sam Donald, the leader,
Sam Darnold, you know what he's been going through every
single week. It seems like people are waiting for this

(11:58):
guy to fall flat on its right every single Sunday,
and the guy just keeps winning.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
I mean, he's twenty five.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
And is it twenty nine and six now and seven
if you include the playoff games?

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Whatever, it is, something stupid like that.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
So you know how much confidence can go right in
this game, how much belief in yourself can mean as
a professional athlete. Take us into the mind of Sam
Darnold and how much you think he's grown just in
the last maybe month or so.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Yeah, Well, confidence is everything, and when you have a
high level of confidence, you just feel like you can
accomplish anything and you feel like you can overcome anything.
And we've seen a lot of that from Sam Donald.
You can talk about his turnovers, but I think as
a result of his level of confidence, he's been able
to overcome that and you're not seeing it as much.

(12:50):
So this is the guy that has continued to get better.
Then you look at the relationships. That's the other big
part of it, with his wide receivers and his offensive
line and his running backs and tied end it's all there.
It's there, like these are guys that have truly embraced
their signal caller and you can tell by it doesn't matter.

(13:12):
Jysen might have two catches and he's celebrating, just like
all the twelves in the stands. Okay, everybody pulling out
the Michael Irvin just like everybody else on the sideline.
He don't care about two catches or three catches or
whatever it is. And that's somebody who I feel like
it's because you have a lot of respect for your

(13:34):
signal caller. So the way that he's just approached the game,
he's a selfless guy. Sam Donald is right. You could
tell like he doesn't care about throwing for X amount
of touchdowns or any of the statistical things. And I
think you can say that about this entire team, and
that's really why they're in this position. There's no egos
or none of that that's taking place right now, and

(13:56):
it's resulting in individual guys playing at a high level,
Sam Donald, and the team playing at a high level.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
Whether the oblique is something or nothing, it sure has
been a big story the last few days, that's for sure.
What's your level of worry in oblique gate?

Speaker 4 (14:13):
I worried about that, man. I wasn't worried about it
the first time. You know, yeah he's signed. You know,
I don't I'm not worried about that at all. That's
a that's a odd story to me.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Yeah, all right, well, what what what does worry you? Well,
let's wrap it up with this Robert Turbin with us
at Robert J. Turbin on Twitter. You can find him
with Andrews on the Lockdown Seahawk podcast as well after
every Seahawk game. So great, great work there, man, love
having you on the air. But uh, you said the
Sam Donald o'bleak doesn't worry you? What what does worry you?

Speaker 3 (14:43):
What?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
What would keep in your mind the Seahawks from winning
this game and getting back to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Wow? That that's that's a strong question, because I just
I just don't see them, you know, losing this football game.
I really don't. I don't think that the Rams have
quite enough to pull the upset off, you know, on
the road, you know, in Seattle. But but you know,

(15:11):
I guess the one thing that would concern me is
I don't know if there's some sort of if the
Seahawks were for whatever reason just kind of fell flat
on if they came out flat to start the game
and and and kind of lack momentum throughout you know,
I think about the turnovers, if those things kind of

(15:32):
creep up again for us offensively and then on the
defensive side. You know, I just praised the secondary about
not being handsy and not having the holding penalties and
things of that nature. But that would be one thing
that would concern me, is if all of a sudden,
now we're getting a bunch of flagstone on us in
the secondary. They do have some really good skill players

(15:54):
out there in LA. We've got to admit that. But that,
to me is the only way that the Rams could
potentially pull off this victory. Man. But it's really hard
for me to hear.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
I love it, Robert, great stuff. Always fun Turbo to
have you on the air. Keep up the great work
on social media with Andrews on the podcast as well.
And how about this they keep winning? We keep talking, man,
how's that sound?

Speaker 4 (16:18):
I love it. I appreciate it all right, But good.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Stuff, you bet, Turbo. Robert Turbine with us on the air.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
And it's funny as he's talking about if they just
kind of sleepwalk through this thing, like there's no way
that's going to happen, right, Well, the Mariners did it
in Game six of the Alcs remember that. Yeah, they
had a chance to win a game to go to
the World Series, and they were sloppy. They were making
mistakes all over the field. Yeah, well, for whatever reason, right,
they just didn't show up. And I just if you're

(16:45):
watching the Hawks and receivers are dropping passes and they're
starting to go and do you know a you know,
running with the ball without the ball, things like that,
guys are a step slow whatever.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
You can see that.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
You can see that develop on the field when a
guy is not totally focused and body. And so let's
hope we don't see that, because that feels like I
think Turbo's right. That shows up on Sunday and it
doesn't seem to be a staple of a Mike McDonald
led team at all. By the way that shows up
on Sunday, That'll be greatly disappointed.

Speaker 5 (17:15):
But I think the Twelves will help too, because they're
just gonna be so incredibly fired up. And I think
there's a level of respect that the Twelves have for
the Rams that they didn't have for San Francisco. I
think I think we kind of felt like, hey, things
would really have to go sideways for us to lose
this game of San Francisco, where that's not the feeling
this week. So I think there's going to be expectation

(17:37):
from the fans there that, Okay, you know what, Matthew
Stafford's gonna complete some third down passes to Pukinn.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Cool.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
You know what, Matthew Stafford's going to complete a touchdown
or two to Devonte Adams.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
It's cool. It's going to happen. So we're not gonna
freak out about it.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
Sure, and therefore the players aren't gonna start worrying because
seventy thousand are worrying around them.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Well, I wonder how many times Matt Stafford has lost
the same team twice in a season. I did see
a stat and I'm just telling you right now this
could be nonsense, but I like it, so I'm going
to repeat it anyway.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
I heard it from Krueger, so it could be complete
bs that this an Krueger. Yes, this guy that said
we're going to get our ask kicked on Friday.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
And I told him on the air Friday that he
did not believe a word coming out of his mouth.
This team or this game, I believe is the twenty
first time that two Division opponents have met each other
in the postseason, and the team that was at home
is fifteen and five in the previous twenty games. Correct,

(18:35):
So the Seahawks have a massive advantage playing at home
in this game. Absolutely, and it kind of feels like,
you know, the way they're playing right now, the only
team that can.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Beat them is them.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
We'll get a break a lot more to get to,
including John Wilner at six the gas Man's going to
join us, coming back from Miami after his Hoosiers won
the national damn title at about six forty tonight on
