closest sports book, Snow paull Me Casino and Hotel on
your Home for the twelfth Man, the NFL Playoffs and
Super Bowl sixty Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ
r FM. Here's your host, Dave Softy Muller, all.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Right, three three on a Friday afternoon, live from the
Occidental Hall right across from loom And Field, right here
on ninety three to three KJRFM. My advice, by the
way to you is getting down here right now for
the game from the market is gonna go cool Man
and absolute zoo. Well, they're already making preparations. They're moving
all the homeless people out, getting all the businesses in
the hot talk stands, the barbecue pork ribs for tomorrow,
(00:47):
getting ready for back tomorrow at Loumin Field, making the
place all look nice and pretty for national TV and
all the national media coming into this thing. But we
don't get the guys together very often. And I would
just say that to steal a line from Herb brooks Man.
Great Moments, call for great radio, and we're about to
do some great radio here because we got Chuck Bow
joining us on one line, we got Ian Fernest joining
(01:09):
us on the other. And actually, guys, I'm shocked that
Mark James Dick is sitting right here next to.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
H Why are you shocked?
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Because he should be on a plane to South Beach
getting ready for the Miami game on Monday night. If
he was a real fan, if he was a real
hard hurt Okay, okay, on a plane to South Florida
getting ready for a game. I am questioning your fan
right now. I have a flight on Sunday morning. Okay, okay,
just number one to four Lauderdale.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
But if my ticket's not solidified after the Seahawks forty
nine Ers game on Saturday night, I am not getting
on that.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Wow, come on, man, big ten to one salary guy
like you.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Yeah right, yeah, once in a lifetime. Well it's been
one once in twenty three years lifetime.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
Well, I was a little uncomfortable when he he was
telling me that they got the quarterback from Duke.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
He started taking his clothes off.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
A little bit uncomfortable already, So that was bad.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Well, Ian and Chuck, you're not missing anything, trust me
being in your respective spots. Hean is at the they'll
call me casino, Chuck is with us as well, and Chuck,
why don't we start with you?
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Man?
Speaker 3 (02:05):
First of all, thanks for waking up early from your nap. Man,
We appreciate that.
Speaker 6 (02:08):
Pal. After your morning show today, why don't we just
go round the room.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
We'll do what Chuck first and you can jump in
after on just the vibe kind of like, what are.
Speaker 6 (02:15):
You feeling for this thing tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Man?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
The Hawks are big favorites by NFL playoff standards, biggest favorite.
Speaker 6 (02:21):
On the board by far tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Last time these two teams played, the Hawks won the
game by ten, but they physically dominated San Francisco. What's
going through your your morning show brain, buddy, before this
game tomorrow?
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Well, first and foremost, I'll say, I'm not at some
fancy casino right now, but over here at my house
we could play strip poker until you like, so it
is an option for everybody out there to come over.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:45):
He was like, Okay, I'll be there.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
This it's just Chuck. It's just Chuck. That's a pass, buddy.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
I mean the Sam Darnold News kind of rocked me
and talking to Hugh today where he issued some concerns
over it, some serious concerns over it, that certainly didn't
make me feel better. I'm sure it's gonna be fine.
I mean, I'm sure I'm gonna go ahead and take
Mike McDonald and Sam Donald on their word that everything's fine.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
But going into.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Thursday, before I heard that news, I mean, I just
felt so good about this matchup. I mean, at some
point in the season, you just stopped thinking about what
trick does Kyle Shanahan have up his sleeve, and what
trick does McDonald have up his sleeve? And what trick
do they have up their sleeve sleeve, you know, and
you're trying to figure you know, the x'es and o's
(03:46):
might end up negating themselves, and it just really comes
down to who's got the better players, who's got the
better roster, And through a lot of San Francisco injuries
this year, it's just hard for me to believe that
the forty nine ers can beat the Seahawks. Man from man,
I think they've just got an answer for everything as
long as our quarterback is healthy. So I'm feeling confident.
(04:06):
Maybe that's a scary thing. I went two for five
straight up this past week in the wildcard round, So
I'm not exactly on a roll picking playoff games right now,
but I'm feeling very confident. I just think the Seahawks
are gonna hammer them.
Speaker 7 (04:20):
Ian cautiously optimistic, and I say that just because it's
the playoffs, Like we all know how it happens every year.
There's gonna be stuff that happens that no one expects, right,
that you don't see coming, you don't script it. We've
all talked about this game for the last five days
at nauseum, like we've every show on our station, every
host on our station, every guest on our station has
(04:41):
broken it down, and we've done that using what logic,
stats notes, what we've seen, all those things we've done
all that it doesn't matter tomorrow, because something will happen,
Like there will be something that happens that no one
could script out, and we're gonna say, oh.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
My god, like I didn't see that coming.
Speaker 7 (04:56):
And hopefully whatever that is, it's good, Like it's really
good for Sea and I think it will. That's why
I say I'm cautiously optimistic. But the Donald thing's interesting.
I wonder what kind of games we're playing here. To
be honest with you, I really do the whole Fred
Warner's gonna play all week. Fred's gonna play, well boy,
you know. Then now Sam's got an injury, and if
(05:17):
you're San Francisco, like, well, you know what, they're probably
going to brock Purty going what does that mean? Like
like if you have that, well, you can't drive the
ball down the field. Maybe it takes away this or
there's nothing there. He felt like a little zip on
his you know whatever happened and immediately goes inside. And
because of the way the NFL works these days, you
can't you don't have a probable designation anymore. So now
he's questionable, and so now there's these little mind games
(05:38):
going on.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
I hope and trust that he's fine and is not limited.
I think that's the.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
Biggest concern, is that he would be limited to what
he can do. But cautiously optimistic, knowing full well, especially
using Seahawk history for example, and all the playoff games
we've all watched over the years, something goofy's gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
I just hope it's for the right guys.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah, the question isn't does he play he's gonna start? Yes,
how much does it bother him?
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Right?
Speaker 6 (06:04):
Exactly? That's the question.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
No, that's right.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
And I don't worry about him being effective. What I
do worry about is is there a play? Is there
a play that he's rolling out right, he's got to
throw back to his left and all of a sudden
there's a knife in his side right, and and then
that affects him for the rest of the game. But
you know, my overall feeling for this game, I've got
a lot of respect for teams that have legacy and pedigree,
and we're facing a team that has legacy and pedigree
(06:28):
and an NFC championship coach, multiple time NFC Championship coach,
and Kyle Shanahan Brock Purty. Hey, I don't love brock
Purty as a quarterback, but you know what, he's a dog.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
I gotta give him that. Yeah, he's a dog.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
And if we were facing the Carolina Panthers in this game,
I would have zero worry, like zero worry, even though
they played well against the Rams last week. But since
we're playing a team that's got pride, got pedigree, got
a lot of players on that team that have played
in Super Bowls played in playoff games. I do think
it's not nearly going to be as easy as.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
It was two weeks ago. But I still think the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Wan So Mark is with us obviously here from the
beer hall Occidental Beer Hall, and we play a little
game Mark on the air called you can only have one,
where I give you two propositions. You got to pick one.
You can't have both, all right, So here we go.
A win Saturday for the Seahawks or a win Monday
for Miami.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
That's I can have both.
Speaker 6 (07:19):
Okay, I'm not answering that question. I can't have both.
I'm not answering that. I'm in charge. Here, answer the
damn you already know the answer to the question. I believe,
I believe the fifth. The answer is yes. The answer
is yes. The answer is yes.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
So but listen, they haven't won a playoff game at
home in nine years, basically Detroit, Matthew Stafford that game,
Thomas Rawls. Yeah, so you're going way back. But I
haven't been at this stadium for a playoff game. What
I just got to ask you, softy, dick Ian, Chuck Jackson,
what is this place like I'll tell you like tell
me in a word.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
It's simple. Some people put can you hear me right now? Loud?
And you won't hear me on Saturday night. That's how
loud it be.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Were you there at the Rams game?
Speaker 6 (08:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Yes, that was as close to a playoff game as
we've had in quite a while.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
Your ears will that was That was good vibe.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
You know how some parents like to put headphones on
their little babies in the game.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
You might want to do that for the game on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
And this is your If you're breaking your cherry tomorrow
night at bloom And Field, you may want to put
some headphones on.
Speaker 6 (08:19):
Pop. I have a station obligation a muckleshoot at Galaxy, so.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Actually won't be there, but I just want to I
want to know, and I mean listen.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
You might want to put socks on your hands too,
but listen.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
It's it's interesting that the season started with the forty
nine ers coming into town. If you look at and
you don't even break it down by division, the top
three teams in the in the NFC where the Seahawks,
I record, Seahawks Rams forty nine ers, So now here
come the forty nine ers. They persevere through all this adversity,
all these injuries. George Kittle's done for the next year,
asked Jason Tatum, what it's like to tearing achilles, And
(08:57):
yet here they are.
Speaker 6 (08:58):
So my question is this, like how are they here?
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Like how did they get by the defending Super Bowl
champions last week on the road, Like it'st a team
that went right through at your Super Bowl watch party
at EQC last.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Year they went through Kansas City with Kansas City was
on the verge of a three pet Well, I would
say Philadelphia is not nearly as good. They've been kind
of a mess all year long, obviously, But Chuck, I
just think for like what Dick said for San Francisco,
I mean, we were kind of getting nervous looking at
their schedule in the month of December, that hey, this
might be a problem, like they might be there, and
they were there, and then, like you said, Heian, weird
things happened. But weird things did happen, Chuck. In Week eighteen,
(09:36):
because Christian McCaffrey dropped the pass that got picked off
by Drake Thomas. What she never does, Jason Myers misses
two field goals. Chuck and then Sam Darnold just goes
blind on first down and misses a wide open Zach
Sharperney for an easy touchdown.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
So there's your weird stuff. We've already had weird stuff.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
Yeah, and look, I mean, I give San Francisco all
the credit in the world.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
I'd pick Kyle Shanahan for Coach of the Year.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
I realize how good he is, I realize how tough
they are, I realize how resilient they've been this season.
But I just feel like the Seahawks have an answer
for everything. Let's use McCaffrey as an example. I mean,
he has not really been that effective on the ground
this year. I think he's averaging under three and a
half yards per carry, which is one of the worst
marks of any starter in the National Football League. Where
(10:20):
he really kills you now is in the passing game,
more so in the running game. Well, number one Seahawks
have the best run defense in the National Football League.
So that feels pretty good for me if I'm rooting
for the Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
And then this Nick Emon worry.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
I feel as a professional Christian McCaffrey snuffer outer. I mean,
it's like the ideal guy to have with Christian McCaffrey
on the field trying to catch balls out of the backfield.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Philadelphia doesn't have an emon worry. And then I just feel.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
That, you know, they've got thirteen personnel, which is something
they've been thriving with here toward the last part of
the regular season. Well, thirteen personnel's three tied on the field,
and your number one tight end is out of the game.
He's not playing at all, so everybody else gets moved
up the chain. And yeah, Tungas made a nice catch
(11:09):
against this.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Tungus, but it's a rekwall and miss jump.
Speaker 5 (11:14):
Otherwise, you win that first game of the season, and
they're a far inferior roster now than they were the
time you faced them the first.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Every time you say Tungus, I just think of that
ampm commercial Ta Tungas like touchdowns. But you're your point,
and Ian, back to what you said earlier today, entered
Greg Cosell with you. That says the Seahawks defense, there's
no obvious weakness there that the Niners can take advantage of.
He did mention the Niners being a piss poor pass rush,
and he's right. I mean, they have twenty sacks on
(11:43):
the year, the Seahawks have forty seven, more than double
what San Francisco's got. Boss out warners out obviously, but
why why will things that he and the Hawks on
the wall for thirty eight minutes in that game, they
had three drives that yielded no points because of two
missfield goals and that first down debacle, and they took
a third of the game off the clock.
Speaker 7 (12:03):
Yeah, I mean, I think the only thing is is
that you know, no matter who we talk to you
this week, everyone's kind of and we all know this.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
We've all covered enough games over the years.
Speaker 7 (12:10):
No games the same, right, like, no games the same,
and things will be different, and it'll be different. I
mean they've been I'm sitting here at the casino. I've
watched They've replayed both San Francisco Seattle games this year
on the NFL network today and you know, now I'm
watching Rams Bears and all these games are different. You know,
players are hurt, same guys aren't there. If I could
just go back for a second, because because you guys
brought up the crowd, and you know, Dick, you and
(12:31):
Softy are season ticket holders. You guys have been to
probably pretty much every game for the last I don't
know how many years, two decades or something plus, right,
and I'm pushing forty years.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Okay, yeah, I don't want to date all of us.
I mean, I'm the old guy here.
Speaker 7 (12:43):
But but listen, I think, you know, a year and
a half, two years ago, we were talking about what
happened to Lumanfield, right, and what happened to that? And
the only reason I feel a little different this year
than maybe you know, the last couple of times in
thirteen and fourteen when they had home field advantages, it
felt like Seattle was invincible in that stadium, absolutely invincible
(13:05):
in that stadium. And obviously that hasn't been the case
the last few years, even this year, you know, losing
to you know, losing to Tampa Bay and so forth.
But to answer the question, I think what Softie says, right,
I think tomorrow it's the return of what Lumenfield is
can be. And I think it's I think it's gonna
be something I've been lucky and Dave and Dick, you
(13:26):
guys have been to a lot of stadiums with the
Seahawks over the years too. I tell this, there is
no place, no place when it's really going and that
includes stupid arrowhead and I've been there five times, that
includes that dump. I'm telling there is no place like
Lumenfield and that makes a difference. That makes a difference
for the for the for the team.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
Yeah, well in the sacks have to adjust to that.
They've said themselves that it's hard for their defense to communicate.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
It was it.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
It never seemed to be hard for the lob, but
for this defense, they have not shown the consistent of
bill to communicate in that environment.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
So hopefully that'll change.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
What I want to if I were a Niner fan,
what I would want to see is a completely different
game plan by Robert sla I did not understand the
two deep safeties and say we're just gonna let ken
Walker and Sharboney have five to eight yards of carry
every time they touched the ball. They have got to
(14:23):
bring a safety up. They have got to stop that run,
and they have got.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
To make Sam Darnold beat them.
Speaker 6 (14:28):
They didn't do that.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
All have one good corner, So the right.
Speaker 8 (14:33):
Way, by the way, talking about trash right, not this week. No, Now,
that's the thing last time. That's the thing I heard
I heard this week talking about Lenora this morning. I'm like,
you know, that's a good point. He hasn't been at all.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Imagine how that worked out. He's closing his mouth this week.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Well, first of all, the whole thing about following Jay
Sam was dumb because they never do that. He's literally
barking about wanting to do something he knows as coach
will never let him do. But Mark Im, I'm just
kind of trying to figure out why I should not
feel confident, right, I mean, the obvious stuff is Donald's injury,
Like anybody can say that, turnovers inside the red zone,
your own end, whatever, anybody can say that, guys get hurt. Okay,
(15:10):
that's not why we're here. Why should I not feel confident?
If if we're in a debate class. Yeah, and I'm
mister negative, and I'm charging you, mister negativity.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
Negative, Ned, I am.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Your your job is to debate why the Niners will
win this game tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (15:24):
What would you say?
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Well, that's they're gonna have to make Sam Donald turn
the ball over two times or more.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
That's what they're gonna have to do, and they're gonna
have to capitalize on those turnovers, and then they're gonna have.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
To stop Charbonnet and Walker who tore them up.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
This team had one hundred and seventy three total yards
thirteen nights ago, one hundred and seventy thrushing right, No,
nine total yards of offense. Yes, and Christian McCaffrey only
had twenty three yards rushing. So I mean, I'd like
to sit here and make a compelling point. The only way,
the only way the Seahawks lose this game is by
beating themselves. Okay, that's turning the ball over. And because
(15:59):
there's no way that this team, I don't care injuries
are not They're an inferior team. And let's not Can
I just say this again, Mike McDonald owns Kyle Shanahan.
He did it when he was a defensive coordinat at Baltimore.
They went to Santa Clara thirty three thirteen. They picked
him off five times, four picks by Brock Berdy and
one by Sam Darnold. Yeah, so Mike McDonald has become
(16:23):
Kyle Shanahan's crypton.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Well, Chuck Mark just said he'd like to make a
compelling point about this game tomorrow. Make one for San Francisco.
Besides the obvious which is turnovers and things like that.
If I'm making you responsible for arguing why the Niners
would win, what would you say?
Speaker 5 (16:40):
I think it's just how crazy football can work sometimes.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
That's the chance that I give them.
Speaker 5 (16:47):
I mean, let's face it, the Seahawks absolutely dominated them
in week number eighteen, and as you mentioned earlier, McCaffrey
catches that ball instead of it bouncing off of him.
If Mafey doesn't tip it, that's how that play started.
Ma Fey tips it. If he doesn't tip it and
throw it off, McCaffrey catches it. Ifcaffrey catches it somehow,
San Francisco pushes it in a game you dominated and
(17:09):
the forty nine ers are sitting there within three points
in the fourth quarter. Football can be crazy sometimes, and
so if the Seahawks allow them to linger, if they
if Jason Myers misses a couple of kicks again, then yeah,
you give them a puncher's chance in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
They can pull it off. I'm not saying that they
can't pull it off.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
It just if I'm just here to predict who's gonna
win this football game. I mean, it just feels to
me like the Seahawks have just more of the Jimmies
than Joe's. They're just a team that's at least ten
points better than this team on paper right now. But yeah,
there's certainly a way you can lose it. I mean,
if you don't play sharp and if you turn the
(17:52):
ball over and the wrong part of the field, then
you'll lose the football game. Guys, if I'm a Niners fan,
I'm resting my hopes on three Kyle Shanahan, Brock Purty
and Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
You have the advantage at running back.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
You have a head coach that has been to four
NFC Championship games, which is mean, which means he has
won this game right four times in his career against
a coach that has never won a playoff game. And
you've got a quarterback that's five and two and has
beaten the Seahawks in the playoffs before against a quarterback
that has never won a playoff game. If I'm a
Niner fan, that's what I'm banking this.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Yeah, And you know it's funny because you think a
McDonald like that he's thirty eight, but got it, I mean,
he doesn't feel like he's thirty eight.
Speaker 6 (18:32):
The guy feels like.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
He knows what he's doing, that he should be here,
that he's been here before. But it's come back and
talk more about tomorrow. Guys, how we think this thing
is gonna go? I mean, Ian, you mentioned that these
games are always different. Well, in the last three games,
the Hawks and Niners have played thirty total points, sixteen
total points, and thirty seven total points. They've all been
low scoring games for three consecutive games going back the
(18:54):
last three. They had a game that was a higher
scoring game the first game two years ago, but the
last three we have all been fairly low scoring games.
So why do we think tomorrow maybe different? Or maybe
it won't be different? Next on ninety three three KJRFM.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Our NFL playoff coverage continues with the twelfth Man Playoff Roundtable,
brought to you by Seattle's closest sportsbook, Snow Call Me
Casino and Hotel on your home for the twelfth Man,
the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl sixty Sports Radio ninety
three point three kjr FM.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Now, Seattle's not been great on third down themselves tonight.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
This is only a one score game. Quick run out
to Kenneth Walker, junning wide right.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
Thirty thirty five, Blank's at tackle, spins out for the
first down.
Speaker 6 (19:39):
He converts up third and seventeen forty nine.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Ers get out leverage and linebackers get blown up.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Tatum Bethune very very late.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
That is an absolute killer, you know what. I gotta
be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
We're here from the Occidental Hall across from loomen Field,
Ox where the door is open tomorrow at eleven A.
And we played that last week on our show. That's
K and BR Greg Papa, Tim Ryan, Ian, you know
those guys. I was kind of hoping for a little
more discuss from Greg Papa on that on that third
and seventeen call.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
I thought he would be just petrified watching that thing.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
But Ian Furness with us, Chuck Paladick, Fain, Mark James
Softy with you from the Ox Hall across from Lumenfield.
We're hanging out until seven o'clock tonight. By the way,
Lee Sterling joining us next segment and then bought the
hill from the game.
Speaker 6 (20:27):
Will be here at four o'clock.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
And Ian, you were talking to Greg Cosell about this
today as well. And Ian, when do you start us
off here? Chuck, you can jump on after the running
game for the Seahawks. Man the last three games has
just been unbelievable. One hundred and seventy one, one hundred
and sixty three, one hundred and eighty all three of
them are season highs. Do you feel comfortable saying they
can continue that dominance tomorrow?
Speaker 6 (20:51):
Ah?
Speaker 7 (20:52):
Comfortable. I'm not comfortable if anything in the playoffs. I'll
be honest with you. Comfortable is a really strong word,
softy like comfortable to no. I think that's what they're
gonna definitely try to do. And you know this, this.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
San Francisco defense isn't good.
Speaker 7 (21:08):
That's what kind of is weird about the fact that
they only they didn't do much in terms of scoring
in that game a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
I mean, I know we all.
Speaker 7 (21:15):
Love Robert Sala jumping around his bald ass head on
the sideline and all that stuff, But you know what, dude, like,
you don't have the personnel. You don't have the guys.
You don't have the dudes. You can scheme up all
you want, No Jimmy's and Joe's they should be able
to run against these guys. Maybe Anthony Bradford won't miss
an assignment and make a block at some point, and
they'll be really good running the ball, but I don't
know they're gonna want to do that, especially if there
(21:38):
is any thought whatsoever that Donald is not one hundred percent.
You know, I was thinking back with the Donald stuff,
and you know, three of us on this are golfers,
and we're certainly not high level athletes.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
I guess Faine would be the quo for yourself. Yeah,
but dude, I'm fifty one. I am no longer a highlight.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
Not that I ever really was a high level athlete,
but I'm definitely not anymore.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
But anybody listening could probably relate. You Guys can relate
to this if you tweak, like just say like your
back is hurting or something right, like you're something your
swing's jacked up automatically even if it's really shouldn't be,
and you get that it's not that hard. It not
that doesn't hurt that bad. And you know, we've all
talked to Humillin enough over the years throwing a football
and how your mechanics work is it's everything, and you
(22:23):
don't change mechanics, you know, in the middle of a season.
You don't change in the middle of a week or
anything like that. If in the back of his mind,
much like if you're in a golf swing and you're
sitting there, you think it might hurt sublimately, it's gonna
mess you up.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
And so I think they're.
Speaker 7 (22:38):
Like, if there truly is an oblique issue, I think
they're gonna really have to try to rely on the
run and San Francisco knows that they know.
Speaker 6 (22:45):
Juck.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
I realize now my confidence and the Seahawks is making
Ian uncomfortable, so very uncomfortable, Sorry about I mean, I
like that they're running the ball better here down the
end of the sea. I still have the least amount
of faith in the in the four phases, you know,
run defense, pass defense, pass offense, run offense. I still
(23:08):
think I have the least amount of confidence that what
I've seen out of this run offense is going to.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Show up in the playoffs. I will say that.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
If they can get it going, and I know they
will commit to it, and particularly because of the Darnald
injury that Ian pointed out so well, some of the
factors there that man, I then then the confidence in
me really sores. So yeah, I wouldn't I wouldn't say
I'm comfortable with where the running game is, but I'm
encouraged that it it did finish the regular season much stronger.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Yeah, I guess I just don't want to let freak
incidents really discourage me much because Ian what you just said.
People wonder why the Hawkston's score more points, Well, they
scored thirteen. They should have had twenty six. Yeah, two
miss field goals. They had a wide open player on
first and goal, but Sam Darnold's got a hit. Those
are freak things that don't happen very often. They put
(24:00):
up three hundred and sixty one yards mark on that defense,
all right, that would have been good enough for seventh
in the NFL this year. That's a buttload of yards.
They had no problem moving the ball. So I'm not
that discouraged about the offensive performance in Week eighteen because
it took some freak incidents to keep thirteen points off
the board.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
But are you concerned with the fact that they're thirtieth
in the NFL in red zone touchdown percent?
Speaker 6 (24:22):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
We've been talking about that for a month, so Humillan
and Humilian has been the one who's brought this up
some You all credit to him on that forty one
percent red zone touchdown percent since week ten. I'm concerned
about that because in the playoffs, you can't just settle
for threes.
Speaker 6 (24:37):
You know, we don't need Steph Curry, you need seven.
You know you can't. You can't. Well you're shaking your head,
but you can't.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Softy, I'm shaking my head because I wonder if they
can do that in this game with our defense. They
need two touchdown obviously sew to scored re touch but
does that discourage them from taking some crazy risks that
maybe they otherwise would have taken against a different offense.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
That's possible.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
And I mean your original question was, are you confident
in the run game? I would say I'm confident ish
in the run game, all.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Right, I'm more confident right now.
Speaker 6 (25:10):
Take ish.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
I'm more confident now than I was a month agoing
And I don't know, I might challenge the assertion that
of the four phases, I might say the run game,
I'm a little more confident with the pass game right now,
because I haven't seen the pass game since like October. So,
I mean, I've seen a couple of shots the JSN,
(25:31):
but I haven't seen a consistent pass game in two
months from this football.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Well, Mark to your point and Chuck Owing and John Binder,
we've been talking about the red zone defense now for
a month on this radio show. I mean, they're one
for six against the Niners in the red zone and
they've been terrible for the last month. Zone defense, red
zone offense, they've been awful. One for six touchdowns. Somebody
cares about field goals. We're talking touchdowns and one for
six against the Niners, Chuck, But I just keep going
(25:56):
back to one thing, and I agree with what Dick's
saying wholeheartedly. The passing game is been kind of a
little bumpy for sure, but I just have so much
faith in this defense. I don't see the Niners moving
the ball, Chuck on these guys tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (26:07):
I just can't.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
I don't either, And it's going to be interesting, really
interesting to see how Mike McDonald approaches a fourth and
goal from the four again, because I think there is
an argument for what he did, and that is I have.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
Such confidence in my defense.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
I want to try to get seven because they're going
to get the ball back at the four. I think
I can get the ball back again as opposed to
kicking a field goal here kicking it off, they get
the ball out at the thirty five of the forty
and have a very good chance of evening that score
at three to three. So I understand that. But also
to your point, Softy, the defense is playing so well
in the playoffs in a one and done elimination. Is
(26:45):
he going to take the points whenever he can get them?
I can't wait to see what he does strategically there.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Well, listen, I'm the guy that's been saying for years
and years and years, I'd rather have the great defense
and the great offense. And I said it going up
against Michigan in the National title game that I'd rather
have Michigan's defense than the Hosky offense, and that played
out to be true.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
We got burned by that in that game.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
But this kind of reminds me in some ways of
the twenty thirteen game.
Speaker 6 (27:08):
From a Seahawk perspective.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
This is the best defense they've had since then, right
since twenty thirteen? Questions, So if I go around the
room and I ask for predictions, like I mean, is
this even worth it?
Speaker 6 (27:19):
Like asking for predictions for this game?
Speaker 3 (27:21):
The only question is does anybody want to go over
the over in this game. Does anybody want to call
for a higher scoring game? Didn't go forty five and
a half?
Speaker 1 (27:29):
I mean, the last three games, what are we looking at?
Speaker 5 (27:32):
We're looking at thirteen to three, We're looking at what
seventeen thirteen, seventeen, thirty seventeen. I mean, no way, I
mean that's just my default. Even before this defense was awesome.
A Seahawks San Francisco game. Look at the playoff game
three years ago against the four nine ers. A Seahawks
San Francisco game is gonna end in the thirties.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
That's that's just what happens.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
So Hawks win a close or a close scoring game,
Hawks are a low scoring game.
Speaker 6 (27:58):
Chuck go ahead twenty three teen Seahawks.
Speaker 7 (28:01):
Okay, Ian, Well, first of all, it's an American to
bet the unders, so I can't do that.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
But I think you're so yeah.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
I know, Ian.
Speaker 5 (28:09):
You know the great thing about betting under you're always
a winner until you're not.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
You're always a luxer.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
That's a great point. You know what I was thinking.
I was I looked back.
Speaker 7 (28:19):
I feel like this is gonna be a lot like
the game that they played three years ago in in
Santa Clara. And what I mean by that is this
Seattle goes down there. Everyone thought they were gonna get
their doors blown off by the forty nine ers. And
if you remember what happened in that game first half,
so you don't have the lead of the half, yes,
right now, field goal? Right they they had the lead
of the half because even though San Francisco outgained them
(28:41):
by about one hundred yards in the first half, they
had somehow had a one point lead. We were in
the press box, no word of a lie, getting ready
to book travel for wherever the hell we are supposed
to go the next week for the next game. Like
that's like, and we're thinking, these guys are gonna pull
this off. Pete's gonna pull some magic. Shanahan's gonna melt down.
That's what's gonna happen. This is what happened, and this
is why I think's gonna happen tomorrow. This is San
Francisco's second half drives. Touchdown off the kickoff, eighty yard
(29:04):
drive took like eight minutes, touchdown off a Gino Smith fumble,
touchdown off a punt that was another seventy five yard drive,
and then a Gino Smith interception field goal. So twenty
four unanswered points. Thanks for coming. I think we're gonna
see something similar tomorrow. It's gonna be the other way around, Seattle.
It's gonna win going away, but we will not be comfortable.
(29:26):
We will not be comfortable until late all right.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Mark, So the Seahawks obviously didn't play last week, went
to bye. They are now the odds on favorite to
win the NFC at plus one twenty rams or plus
one fifty. According to pet MGM, Seahawks now are the
favorite to win the Super Bowl plus three hundred rams
or plus three twenty What changed in a week?
Speaker 6 (29:44):
Nothing?
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Seahawks didn't play, rams did, yet they're the favorite. I
don't think there's any chance the Seahawks lose tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (29:50):
I think a lot of people you okay.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Time, last time I heard that you the Mariners pissed
away four out of five, I.
Speaker 6 (30:02):
Said, so, I said, yeah, yeah, freezing cold takes. Yeah,
freezing cold takes.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
In September thirteenth, I said the Miami Hurricanes are the
best team in college football.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
How that age pretty well?
Speaker 4 (30:13):
I'd say, like like charlist the run now tomorrow, there's
no chance they lose this game, and I'll just say this,
just get ready for championship Sunday.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
You can see the rams A Bears.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
Seven of the last eight regular season games against Niners
under forty five and a half.
Speaker 7 (30:27):
These guys put some juice on that.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Right now.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
I think it's work Release Day and Alcatra. These guys
are coming up for a weekend. All right, Mark chuck Ian,
thank you, great stuff, and we'll hear your Monday guys.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
Good stuff, guys. All right, get in for anest.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
