Three and sixteen, Seattle first and ten leading twelve zing
Donald under center five on the defensive line. He gets
the stats, turn, Blight picks the hand up. Here comes
the blitzer, goes the prolinzone.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Pot cuts down, Pot, touch down, Cunner the tight end
hold the shoulder.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Catch in the corner of the episode, and we got
our first touchdown of Super Bowl sixty and the Sea
Hawks it's step their lead early in the fourth.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Well, what a great surprise.
Speaker 5 (00:46):
Kevin Harlan there on the call yesterday and joining us
right now in the radio show. Well, grab some more
of your phone calls in a minute. But hey, man,
when this guy calls you answer. Former Seahawk wide receiver
Sidney Rice is popping on the radio show to talk
about the Seahawk winning get another championship?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Said, how are you man? What's going on?
Speaker 6 (01:05):
I'm great? I'm great, man, doing really well. How can
you not be excited right now?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
No, it's amazing. You were there yesterday.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
Tell us about your experience and what you made of
what the Seahawks did to the Patriots yesterday.
Speaker 6 (01:17):
Man, I think it was great. Throughout all of the events,
the whole weekend and then getting to the game Sunday,
the whole experience was absolutely bar nine. Super excited for
the team. Coach Mike John chuck Onnold on the whole organization.
The guys came out and came out and played ball.
They didn't exactly what I expected them to do. I
(01:40):
knew they were going about to win the game. I
just don't know about how much.
Speaker 7 (01:44):
It just seemed like a quiet confidence with this whole team,
and they even mentioned it that, you know, when they
started watching film, they felt really really good about that.
And it kind of reminds me similar to the twenty
thirteen team Sidney, where you know, those you guys were
watching that film knowing, hey, we can especially that defense
against the Denver offense, we can get after these guys.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
Yeah, quite spectacular and resemblance of those two teams go
to the defenses. As you know, You've probably been talking
about it all year. Everybody has actually very very similar defenses.
Top of the league came out and displayed what they've
they've done the last few weeks of the season, which
was really good. According to that forty nine Ers game,
(02:26):
who was a complete defense, almost a shutout. Obviously the
forty one to six win ivery been playing the Rams
tough as well, so and those guys they earned it.
They went out there, earned it, They played hard, even
killed the whole game. You didn't hear a bunch of
hoopla or nobody talking any mess. They knew what the
goal was and they got it done.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Sidney Rice is with us for a few minutes after
the Seahawks championship yesterday. Sidney, what is it about this
defense that is so hard for offenses to figure out?
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Can you put your finger on it?
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Man, It's just a combination of great players. Obviously, Mike
Skien and play calling has been phenomenal since before he
even got here in Michigan in Baltimore as well. But
the collective of this team is really really special, man.
That defensive line special, the linebackers special, the secondary special.
(03:24):
To seeose guys rock and play together and play for
each other. Very impressive, man. I mean I haven't seen
anything like it obviously since the two Combland thirteen through
fifteen season. But what you would a sight to see them?
What a defense to be able to watch see.
Speaker 7 (03:41):
I don't know if Clint Kubiak is an elite play caller,
but one thing he is is he just fits with
Mike McDonald and he fits with this defense and plays
the type of game and calls the type of game
that fits. What's this defense does. How big a loss
do you think it'll be when Kubiak goes to Las Vegas.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
Oh? Well, first of all, congratulations to him. You know,
that's what everybody works for. I works for, is getting
that getting that job, being able to have their own team.
But I'm anxious to see who we're going to bring in.
I think Mike is gonna a little time and figure
that out, but I definitely think it'll be a big
blow for us. But you know, you know how those things.
(04:25):
Getting a new coordinator cuttin things around. He done a
phenomenal job whiles here, like you said, Sam went out
there and executed the play offense when I'll executed the
players that he called. But I just don't know how
another offensive coordinator is going to look. Might be some
might be some fans at the beginning of this season
if we don't get it right immediately, but overall, I
(04:47):
think we'll we'll get it get it down the stretch
next year as well well.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
Hell, I mean we even saw some growing pains with
kobiak right in Week one against the Niners. I mean,
think about where this offense has come since that game,
and Sadie Rice is where the for a few minutes
here on the radio show. All right, So, sitting in
the stands yesterday watching that game as a fan, was
there any part of that game where you kind of
felt like, oh man, this is falling apart, I'm getting
nervous here, or did you feel confident the whole game?
Speaker 6 (05:14):
I didn't untill that for one second. It was awesome.
And I was just talking about that a couple of
hours ago when I was talking to my brother about
going to the game. I typically don't sit in the
stands when we go to the game at the Seahawks.
Some thoughts on around sweet sand hotter fans and stuff
like that, But what a freaking experience. It was awesome.
I love being out there with the bands, pop Eyes
(05:37):
and you know, all of the fun things. So it
was great.
Speaker 7 (05:41):
I'm with you, Sydney.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
I was not nervous at all.
Speaker 7 (05:44):
And one of the main reason I wasn't nervous at
all is because I don't think the Patriots would have
scored a touchdown had Seattle needed to stop them from
scoring a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Would you agree with that?
Speaker 7 (05:56):
If the Hawks were only up by four, five, six,
and their offense was really, really struggling, do you think
New England would have even gotten into the end zone.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
I do not. I agree with you one hundred percent.
And I felt that would have come into the game
and it could be an experienced thing. They have a
couple of guys that were, you know, bounced around the
league for quite a quite a bit some time. But
the pieces that the Hawks have and that defense man
absolutely phenomenal. I just didn't think they were I mean,
(06:25):
you got to give them their credit. They made it
to the big game, but I did not think they
were they were ready. I think Denver would have been
a better matchup.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt. Well.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Luke Wilson was on the radio show the other day,
your ex teammate and he told us he would have
rather seen Denver.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Than than New England. Remember that he.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Thought he thought the Patriots were the worst matchup for
the Seahawks. But Sydney, before you go, we get to
now do something in this city that a lot of
other sports towns don't get to do. We get to
debate what championship team was better, which Lombardi winning team
was better. And we're already doing it in twenty thirteen
(07:07):
versus twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
You played on the twenty thirteen team. Obviously, which team
do you think was better?
Speaker 6 (07:17):
Oh? Man, that is a great question. As I said,
those defenses are very very similar. Similar in the offense,
I believe they had a little more firepower than we
had potentially because they threw the ball a lot more.
They were able to stretch the ball that would field
(07:38):
a whole lot more. And you know they go back. Hi,
that's a tough question, man, I'm I'm gonna say it
to split. I am. I'm happy for both of those teams.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Go boom.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
That's just that's that's a political answer.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
You know my political answer.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
You know this team would have kicked your team's ass,
and you know I'm with you.
Speaker 6 (08:08):
To call Mike Bennett and Doug and no, we're gonna
have to get all you now.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Don't do that because I agree with you, I actually agree.
I think the twenty thirteen team was was better than
this one. But but buy your hair all right, hey,
tell people what you're doing now.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
By the way, oh.
Speaker 6 (08:23):
Man have a wine company, Dossier Wine Collective, Dossier wine
dot Com. We watched it about three years ago. It's
going really well. Our first giftage got top thirty number
thirty in on the top one hundred ones of the
world by Wine Previous I was really excited about. Followed
by the highest rated white wine and Washington state history
by Wine Duvious just a couple of years ago. And
(08:45):
just brought in a couple of really good at scores
from Jed Dunneck, a couple of ninety nine pointers and
ninety eight And it's been awesome. And shout out to
the to the Hawks fans. We got a ton of
Hawks fans and our wine club. They come to our parties,
they show up, and that's one of the reasons I've
never left here. The support of this en base in
(09:05):
this community has been absolutely phenomenal. And every time I
get a chance to say thank you. I just want
the guys to know that we really appreciate them as
former players and all the things that they do for
us post football.
Speaker 7 (09:21):
Well, congratulations on your success. But when's the Softy and
Dick wine tasting with this?
Speaker 6 (09:27):
Hey, man, you gotta come over to the tasting room.
You're welcome anytime. You got my number for you myself.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
All right, well, I think we should be cheersing tonight
to the Seahawks and really do getting into which team
was better twenty thirteen or twenty five. So all right, man,
great stuff, welcome back to town and fired up that you
were there for the game yesterday, and we'll talk soon.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Said thank you, said that was good.
Speaker 6 (09:51):
Thank you guys.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
All right, Sidney Rice, you bet? Oh you cut him off?
He cut him off? Yeah, Deck, is he still there?
Speaker 6 (09:59):
I do?
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Did you give me a Gohawks? Give me a go Hawks?
Come on?
Speaker 6 (10:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:03):
All right, fine you can't. Jackson got a trigger for
he sure did. He sure did. Well. Great to have
him on the show.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
And I thought it was really cool, dude, seeing all
the ex players that were there yesterday, and not just Seahawks,
but you saw Naylor was there. Cal Rowley was there,
Ryan wu was there, George Kirby was there. A ton
of guys were there yesterday, Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Sidney Rice,
a bunch of dudes worth the game yesterday.
Speaker 7 (10:28):
And that just shows you how different this is from
the last one because we have a history now, right,
the last time we were in the Super Bowl, you
didn't have multiple Hall of Famers that you could just
roll out and show on TV and do it like
the Seahawks have a legacy now that only you know,
five ten teams have.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Everybody wants to be a part of it. Man, everybody
wants to be a part of a winner. All Right,
we'll get some calls. You're ready for some more calls. Plus,
our Bellevy were coins golden moment from the game.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
