Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our friend Chris Crawford is going to join us from
my o Y. Yes, he's won half of the Mully Whoppers.
We're not mollywhopping today. We're going to actually talk. We
brought it up yesterday. The Keith Law, who's really well
respected in terms of Major League Baseball and their prospects
and prospect rankings, works for the Athletic. He did the
Top one hundred prospects a couple of days ago, and
(00:20):
then yesterday, late last night, early this morning, it came
out with the top farm systems in Baseball and Seattle
is rank number one. Murners are now those that are
the pessimisms pessimists of the world will say, what does
it matter? And I would fall somewhere halfway in that
category other than I'm sure as he'll rather be one
(00:43):
than thirty, And yeah, what does that do in terms
of are there guys that are close? We read the
text yesterday from a Major League Baseball scout from another
team that said Seattle's got a I'll go back and
read it because it was it kind of it's I
want to say, it really was some good foreshadowing. Yeah,
when he sent that to me, because did you do
(01:05):
scrolling down, scrolling down, Hi, everyone scrolling Okay, they have
real hitters in the minor leagues, but they're only Double
A guys and they need big League ready bats right now.
That's according to one scout, and we talked about it.
The four guys we talked to, five guys we talked
about yesterday. We're all hit they're all offensive guys. The
number of pitchers. Yes, But is that scout from another
(01:25):
team who's not America fan says they've got real hitters
down there. So I'll talk to Chris, because you know
who knows all that stuff, Chris Crawford. Yeah, Yeah, got
our guy, Chris Crawford. So we'll check in with him
coming up at twelve twenty and find out who's who
do you think? Who do you think before Chris comes on?
Who do you think is closest to the Biggs?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Closest to the Biggs is called young I think the best.
He's twenty one years old.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yes, there's a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Belief that he would be up this year at some point,
and that may be part of the thinking of not
necessarily going after a free agent in terms of the
middle infield, which is one of the holes you have
not saying it's an excuse, but that could be a
reason why it's fine. But the best one I think
overall is Colt Emson, who also is a middle infielder.
But I think he's twenty, so he's probably one or
(02:09):
two years away.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
So we'll talk to Yeah, we'll get what Chris thinks
about that. It's it's you know, I heard earlier Luke
Arkins was who's Luke right for?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
I'm sorry, he does his own blog. It's the Mari.
It's actually really really I follow him.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
I just wasn't sure where he's. Yeah, he's got good stuff.
The man he was on with with Chris and Greg earlier.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
We'll also have him on Chuck and I's Stove podcast
end the season like we did last year, which we
recorded today.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
By the way, where's the bell the bell in here?
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Shameless podcast?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
I will plug it all day every day, and I've
told you in the past I'll let you do that.
All right, you should we should plug it. You guys,
do you and Chuck bust your ass on that thing.
We have do a good job with that. Yeah, I
saw Chuck yesterday.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
It's rare. I had a rare Chuck Powell sighting outside
of outside of his normal habitat. I don't use again
to see that, So that was fun. Actually enjoyed a
beer with Chuck Powell, so that was fun. Yesterday. Yeah,
so we'll they talked the morning after Midday show before
us whatever it is they were talking with Luke Harkins
about that. You know, Greg's just so bullish on Ryan Blizz,
(03:14):
got a man crush on Ryan Bliss. But you know,
as Luke was saying, like the options right now at
second base are not good for Seattle. So maybe, as
you mentioned, one of those young guys can come up.
So we'll talk about that with Chris. Coming up today
one o'clock, Corbin Smith's going to join us week we visit.
He's been all over watching Senior Bowl stuff and we'll
get his thoughts. They had not Seahawks had not hired
(03:34):
Clint Kubiak last time we talked to him yet, so
we'll talk to him about that as well. And then
two o'clock Gary Parrish will be here. I mentioned this
with Greg. One of the things I want to hit
on with Gary today, his partner on the podcast Iron
College Basketball, wrote a bigger picture story member Stu Jackson
was on our show a little while agough. He's a
WCC commissioner, and he and other commissioners of the non
(03:57):
football power conferences are meeting. It's a normal meeting they
have every year, a couple times a year. I think
there's thirty two conferences that have commissioners meeting this week,
and there's a growing concern among that group that college basketball,
the tournament specifically, could go down the same road as
college football, to a point where in college basketball, the
(04:23):
smaller conferences have always had a very healthy presence and
a fairly equal seed at the table. We all know
how college football has gone. It's the SEC in the
Big ten's world, and everyone else is living in it,
including the Big twelve, and then including the ACC and
certainly including the new Pac twelve. In two years, there's
a worry that there's more and more pressure coming from
(04:44):
the Big ten of the SEC in regards to trying
to maybe get rid of auto bids. And you know
the great thing about college basketball, The best thing about
college basketball is there's three hundred and fifty odd teams
in in Division one college basketball. Every single team has
an opportunity to play for a national championship. Yes, it's
(05:04):
as simple as that. You awe, every team has a chance.
I just it isn't necessarily the case in college football.
And that's not no because just because you win a conference.
In college basketball, if you win a conference or conference
tournament to better than what your auto bid is linked
to most times conference tournament, you have an auto bid,
you're in. You can win the AAC in football, as
(05:27):
I think Memphis might have this year too, Lane, you
can win the Mountain West Boys he did, they didn't
have an auto bid, they still got in Pac twelve,
won't have one. All those things, you get the point.
The greatest thing about college basketball is everyone has a chance.
It's also if you think about the teams that are
involved in college basketball that are some of some better
powers in the sport, if they went down that road,
(05:51):
well that eliminates the automatic bid for teams like wait
for it, Yukon, two time national champions defending Butler, been there,
done that, Villanova national champions in the past. I can
go on and on.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
M H.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
I want to see those teams that are really good.
I don't need to see an eleven and ten Minnesota
team get in right, maybe I'm wrong, and maybe a
network's gonna tell me that's a great thing. I know,
I see. I thought the dumbest thing I heard in
a long time was expanding the tournament.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Oh that's just too much. But it's perfect.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
It is perfect. You know why, because you have a
bracket you fill out. I'll bring this up with Gary.
I'm gonna bring this up with Gary. At some point, leagues, conferences,
sports commissioners need to understand what elevates their product. Can
you imagine if the NFL said, hey, no more fantasy football.
We're gonna talk to our partners at CBS, Fox, ESPN,
(06:49):
talk to Yahoo everyone else that does the fantasy football
websites that scores for people, because that's you have to
do it that way now, and we're gonna eliminate it now.
Maybe impossible, but let's just for hypothetically, say that happened.
Do you think the NFL would still have the same numbers?
Speaker 3 (07:03):
No?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
No, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
People feel like they're they're a part of it, and
they pay attention to more than just their team.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Thursday night football, We've got Jacksonville and Cleveland tonight. Would
anybody watch if there was no such thing?
Speaker 6 (07:14):
No?
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I have Brian Thomas Junior.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
I needed to have three catches.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah that's what you do. Yeah, God, I put Chubb
in today. I think you see that you can get hurt.
I got Cleveland's tight end. He's a stud I like,
and let's do it. No, you wouldn't be same thing
with March madness. Why is March madness, especially the first
weekend so enormous because because more than ten million people
fill out a bracket and you don't need to know
(07:39):
nothing about college basketball and you're invested, So give your
head a shake, do the right thing. Okay, we'll talk
about that with him a two o'clock coming up next,
Mariners number one in something. We'll talk about it.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Coming up.
Speaker 6 (07:51):
You're listening to your one and only home for the
super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
Make us you're number one pre set in your car

stunt to you by snow called me Casino on Sports
Radio Nutty three point super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
I think it's two weeks for today Pictures and Catchers Report.
I believe I heard that earlier today. Baseball season around
the corner. As we wrap up the month of January,
Spring's always fun. Huh, you got you got baseball starting,
you got marsh Madness coming on, NBA, NHL playoffs going on, NFL.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Draft, DA's are getting them, days are getting longer, Sun's
coming out I get to talk to Chris Crawford more often.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah, Hey, Chris, did you know Andrews does a podcast
with Chuck Powell. Did you know that it's called what
is it?
Speaker 6 (08:49):
Stove?
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Not the stove, stove, just stove? Did you know that?
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Chris?
Speaker 7 (08:55):
You guys won't shut up about it. How can I
not know that guy? Thing I ever heard talking on
the station, all I ever hear is Alec Baldwin and
Anders talking about his podcast.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
That's because Chris is a loyal listener on the iHeartRadio app,
which by the way, is brand new. You can pre
sate your shave stations down on the iHeart Radio app.
He is one half, of course, of the Molly Whoppers.
But we're not mullywopping today. We're actually talking about Chris's
true expertise, not that he's I mean, that's an ex
but the real thing that we first kind of got
to know Chris with, and he's mister prospect. At last,
(09:27):
I checked the Twitter handle is Chris Crawford to m
i LB Minor League Baseball. Here we go. So, my friend,
I was going to talk to you anyway about these
five guys that Keith Law had ranked in his top
one hundred, and then it comes out today. Hey, by
the way, the Marriage's organization are number one in baseball
(09:48):
in terms of their their prospect pool and their farm system.
So in general terms, what does that mean, and maybe
giving me give our listeners some context what that means,
maybe comparatively before Jerry got here, what it's looked like
in the past and all that.
Speaker 7 (10:03):
So first of all, you guys can thank me that
they're at the top of the list. I sent Keith
a certificate to Olive Garden and that was all it took,
was just a little bit of sure italy and he
was willing to direct the Mariners. For those who know Keith,
you know why that's so funny.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
It means a lot.
Speaker 7 (10:18):
And look, I understand how frustrating it's going to be
to see this advertised and to see the Mariners not
sign a major free agent instead see you them posting
about the rankings and how exciting csrise futures. Brad, I
understand how that's all frustrating, but it does mean something.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
It does mean that.
Speaker 7 (10:36):
A lot to have these young players that have the
potential to impact this team. And I think it's worth
pointing out what you were talking about before Jerry got here.
This was the worst farm system in baseball in twenty eighteen.
And it wasn't just like the worst farm system competing
with a few others. It was right at the bottom.
It was the Pacific of the West Coast Conference of
things started to do that to the media, but it
(10:58):
just it was just a horrible corporable group. And now
it's become if it's not the best, and I agree
with Keith, I do think it is the best farm
system in baseball because of the quality and quantity. If
it's not that, it's in the top five, and to
have a top five system matters. It matters, not only
for the fact that these guys have a chance to
(11:18):
come up and help your team in the next couple
of years. It helps you because you can make trades,
you know, in Keith's rundown, And I definitely recommend everybody
go take a look at that on the Athletic or
the New York Times or whatever. The heck they call
it now go check out and mention the fact that
he mentioned that there are these They made a trade
(11:38):
for Randyo Rose Arena where they move two of their
top prospects, and they still have a deep system. They
still have the ability to go get guys. It's very
frustrating that they're not doing that right now, but there's
no doubt that these guys have a chance to not
only help them in the future. You know, twenty twenty
six more likely than twenty twenty five with one exception,
but these guys have a chance to also help you
(11:59):
in prove your major league team. It definitely matters. As
much as people want to talk about how prospects are
a crap shoot and how none of this matters and
you never really know, oh no, go take a look
at top prospects and see what they're doing. Go see
where players like Mike Trapped and Ronald Acunya Junior and
Wan Soto where are they ranked in prospect lists. Because
it matters. It absolutely does matter. This is not a
(12:21):
crap shoot. It is great that the Mariners have an
awesome farm system.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Well, I'm I thought, and I said, this is the
first segment I listen, you'd much rather be in the
top one, two, three, like the top five or number
one as they are right now. Then, like you said,
where they were years ago, I mean that there's that
does mean something. I think the Krack and Andrews. Can
you look this up? Somebody just might have been the
Athletic or somebody else. The Cracking just got ranked number
ten for their prospect pool and rankings, which in year
(12:46):
four of the franchise. I'm like, hey, not a good season. Uh,
frustrating for them. And there's a lot of things that
are you know, and you know, Hawkins just tore them
apart in a column today, and you know what I did,
I was all my Crack and friends. That's a good thing.
You know what you've made. You're legit, Like, that's good.
If they're tearing you up, that's good in the newspaper
(13:06):
of record. But they're number ten, that's really good. That
would give me hope that hey, Berkeley Cat and other
guys is the Athletic. That's correct? Okay, who did it?
Who did it? The Hockey writers dot Com? Okay, well
those guys are actually good, so that's good. Okay, Yeah,
that's a good sight. Okay, that's a good thing for
the Mariners who've been around for a while that have
been up and down in these prospect rankings. Yeah, this
is a good thing. Well, me for other contexts, Chris,
(13:29):
where were they a few years ago when this great
young staff was not quite here yet? Were they ranked
high in that regard to Were those guys all highly
thought of?
Speaker 7 (13:39):
Yeah, they were definitely highly thought of, but they were
never quite this close because of the fact that, look,
having highly ranked pitchers is great. There is a phrase
that it's called ten staff, and what it means is
there is no such thing as a pitching prospect, and
some people really believe in it, that there's some validity
to it. The Mareric's got extremely lucky that Logan Gilbert
and George Kirby and Brian Will and Bryce Miller have
(14:01):
been as good as they are as they get a
ton of credit for their development. But one of those
guys could have easily taken a plunge with a Tommy
John surgery or a rotator cuff issue, So they don't
rank pitching prospects as highly. The difference now is this
is the system completely based on bats. There's some decent
pitching prospects at the back end of it. But this
is all based on bats, and in particular middle infield bats,
(14:24):
which are the thing you're chasing for. The thing you're
chasing for is that guy who can play short stop
and be in a well above average regular A Maria's
have like five guys who have a chance to play
up the middle and be above average regular. So, yeah,
the farm system was ranked, you know, consistently top ten
in those situations. After the absolute cesspool of a job
(14:44):
that Jacksonenzig did in that and just destroying that farm
system one scarry to Poto took over that. They have
done an excellent job of rebuilding it and they have
never come close to ranking as high as this. They
were probably a top five system last year, but they
are consistently ranked the top three now and that's well deserved.
And the big difference is it's bats instead of pitchers.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
And that's what they need. We all know they need bats.
Chris Crawford joining us mile why we'll talk about the
work he's doing at the end of the segment.
Speaker 8 (15:11):
Here.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Let me you mentioned one guy. I mean, most of
these guys are maybe twenty twenty six or beyond. But
you did say there's one guy that we could see
this season. I'm assuming it's Cole Young, who is a
middle infielder twenty one years old. How close is Cole Young?
Speaker 7 (15:25):
Well, yeah, because you heard Anders talk about it right
after he promoted his podcast again.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
It's called stove, not dustove. It's called stove, not dustove,
but stove of media.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
I don't know the name of it.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
I just know we won't shut up about it. But
Cole Young is definitely that one guy who has a
chance to help them this year reach double A kind
of a mixedgear in Double A, but one of the
younger players in Double A two and playing in a farm.
It's worth pointing out that these guys who are playing
in Arkansas do not have the friendliest confines to hit in.
It's one of the things like where Kyle Lewis, you
(15:58):
know who? I wish Kyle Lewis would have worked out better,
but his power numbers were down in Double A. We
obviously saw that he could hit for power. Cole Young
isn't going to be an elite power hitter, but I
think he can be above average. I would say fifteen
to twenty homers but he could really hit. He's the
type of guy who can hit two eighty two, ninety
steal fifteen to twenty bags, could play short stuff, but
obviously that's probably not going to be his long term position,
(16:21):
mainly because of some other guys who have a chance
to play the position. I think he'd be ready to
play second base, probably by the middle of July. You know,
I wouldn't count on him being a guy who helps
them right away. It's possible if he has a huge
spring training, I guess it's possible he could win one
of those jobs. But he could also play third base
as well. He definitely has the arm for that. He's
more high floor than high ceiling. That will talk about
(16:43):
probably some guys who have a little bit higher ceiling
than he does. But he just looks like a major
league player. He looks like he is that type of guy,
and obviously that's what you want, is a guy who
can come and help you and be a solid three
to four win player, maybe closer to two to three
win player. The sexiest profile in the world, but you
definitely need guys like Cole Young, and it's the reason
(17:03):
why he's consistently ranked. Is the top forty prospect.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
So Chris, he goes to spring training Cole Young and
has a really like and spring training is what it is.
I mean, numbers don't even matter. But he goes in
like guys are watching his wait for it, exit velo
things like that, some of the other numbers like but
like in all honesty, like he plays good defense and
he doesn't look over match when he's going against like
(17:28):
legitimate major league pitchers, all the things that they would
look at and not like, Okay, yeah, I got three
hits in the seventh inning against the guy's gonna be
in single anext that is. But he does the other
things as you as we just talked about. Would there
be any chance that he could make the opening day roster.
Speaker 7 (17:44):
I would say it's a slim chance, but that's a
chance for sure. And we are seeing this more and
more guys who are getting that promotion from Double A
straight to the majors. I mean, he is going to
have to absolutely rake in spring training and look the part,
and the deeper that he gets into camp. You know,
he's a non roster invite right now. And the deeper
that he goes through that, the more of a chance
(18:06):
I think that there is an actual chance that he
will do it, but he's going to have to absolutely shove,
and it will also depend too on if they do
something at second base. Right now, he's competing against Dylan
Moore and Ryan Bliss. It's not hard for me to
see him being better than Dylan Moore and Ryan Bliss,
all due respect to both guys who I think have
a purpose on the roster. So yeah, I think there's
a chance, but I mean he's going to have to
(18:27):
absolutely shove and really look good on defense because you know,
the manors infield defense. It's not as important as some
others because of the park that they play in, but
it's going to be important. You know, you have to
have something strong up the middle for these guys. If
he looks the park defensively and if he's he has
to be more than holding his own. It has to
be one of those things. Like, boy, it sure would
(18:48):
be a waste to not have this helping our roster
right now, but I would bet against it. I would
guess that he's probably heading to Tacoma to begin the year,
but it's still definitely within the realm of possibility. It'll
be one of the more fun things to watch in
Peoria for sure.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Okay, top two guys, Colt Emerson and say it with
me Seleston.
Speaker 7 (19:07):
Right, yeah, Okay, Bolton Seleston.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
They're both nineteen years old. One is ranked five by
keithl On. One has dranked twenty fourth out of their
top one hundred. Both middle infielders, both nineteen. Tell us
about those two guys and where they project.
Speaker 7 (19:22):
Sure, it's funny that they're right next to each other
because they are very different prospects, and in a way
they're the same because they're both really good middle endfielders.
But when we talk about ceiling and floor, there's a
massive difference here. Felvin Selston has not only one of
the highest ceilings in this system, he might have the
highest ceiling of any prospect in Major League Baseball right now. Like,
(19:43):
this guy has a chance to have at least five
sixty tools, and it wouldn't shock me if we were
talking five to seventy tools on the twenty eighty scale.
He's an excellent athlete and he has he raked in
low in the Dominican League. He absolutely shoved unfortunately he
excuse me, the Arizona League, but unfortunately he just kind
of bit on the field very much. He had an
(20:04):
injury that ended his twenty twenty three season before he
could even play, and in twenty twenty four he had
a risk injury that kept him off the field for
all but about thirty games, But he absolutely shoved. In
terms of pure talent, he is the best prospect in
the Seattle Mariner system and is not even close. And
that's not an insult to any of these guys, but
in terms of pure upside, he is that guy.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Well.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
Colt Emerson has a good ceiling too. It's almost impossible
for me to imagine Colt Emerson not being a starting
infielder because his feel for the game is so good.
His approach is so good. He makes hard contact to
all parts of the field. Like Cole Young, He's not
going to be an elite power hitter, but I do
think he's going to be in that fifteen to twenty
(20:46):
homer range, maybe on the lower end of that if
he's playing in T Mobile Park, but he is such
a high floor and he should be able to stick
it shortstop Sellaston as well, although he's a little bit younger,
and you know they're the same age, but there's a
little bit more of a body risk, I think, with
him maybe moving over to third base or possibly the
corner outfield. But Colt Emerson's going to play up the
(21:06):
middle and he is going to hit. I am extremely
excited to see, and I was really excited to see
where Keith ranked him because both Seliston and Emerson, because
there's this tendency for prospect writers to make some of
the guys a little lower in terms of like, yeah,
in terms of talent, he's better than these guys, but
I have to rank him below these guys. Well, it
should be based on the talent, it should be based
(21:27):
on their ceiling, it should be based on their chances
of reaching those upper echel amount of prospects. I get safety.
Safety is important too, and I wish the Mariners had
a little bit more in their triple A system that
I thought was going to help them at this point.
But it's ultimately about talent, and those two guys in
particular have a chance to be stars. Like Pelvin Selliston
probably has a chance to be a superstar. Colt Emerson
(21:50):
is more star. That's very semantic, I know, but both
of those guys have just elite upside and a chance
to really help the Marrigor Selliston, you're probably talking to
twenty twenty seven Colt Emerson. By the middle of twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Six, Seleston didn't get invited as a non roster invited
to spring trade. He's there obviously in the minor league camp,
but he didn't get one of those invites. Were you
surprised by that?
Speaker 7 (22:12):
No, I'm not just because he's so young. It's it's
such a you know, he'll get a chance to play.
He'll wear probably number sideways eight or something like that
representing the Infinity thing. He'll get a chance to go play.
But for those really really young guys, they usually don't
get the big league invite. And the Mariner's signs so
many have so many non roster invites this year, it
(22:34):
doesn't really surprise me that he didn't get one.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Zero Montes, Harry Ford, Michael Arroyo, the other three guys
he's got ranked in his top one hundred. Just quickly
give me thoughts if you want to give him all
three or just the guys that you want to touch
in on.
Speaker 7 (22:47):
Just real quick. On Lazara Montez, Like, it's still funny
to me that he's listed at like six three two fifteen,
because he's much more Danny Fortson's size than he is
that like sixty seven. Just absolutely take a look at
some of the exits velocity of this guy. I know
we talked about that too much, but he just absolutely
blisters the baseball. Was great to see that he made
an adjustment because when he first got called up to
(23:09):
Hya and he was young for the level, he really struggled,
but then he really turned it around, like really really
turned it around. He has a lead upside. And then
Michael Arroyo was a guy who was getting lost in
the shovel behind some of these other infield prospects, but
he was just so good an effort that people couldn't
ignore it anymore. And he's a legitimate top fifty prospect
to me, like the chit, the fact that Michael Arroyo
(23:30):
isn't your best infield prospect is something to be excited about.
Mariner fans, like, he was a guy that I think
a lot of people were mentioning in trade talks because
you know, you took a look at some of the
other guys. Well, now he's not untouchable. There is no
such thing asn't untouchable. But you're gonna have to if
you move him, you're gonna have to get something really,
really good. So I give Depoto Hollander some credit for
that that they didn't move a Michael Arroyo because they
(23:52):
saw the upside, and now everyone else is seeing that
upside as well. Real quick on Harry four two. You know,
the talent is there, it just hasn't been put together yet.
And he's still young. I mean, he's it seems like
he's been in the system forever. But like he shows
a plus power, he shows a great approach of the play.
He's an outstanding athlete who if they need to move
(24:13):
to the outfield, and you know, that would be a
cal rally extension. So let's all hope for that. He
would more than hold his own there. So yeah, those
are excellent prospects to have in the city.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Well obviously that's why I love you, because you answered
my questions before I even asked him. Yeah, so, like
I was gonna say, what do you do with him?
I if Caw sticks around, he's not going to catch
I mean he's I mean, I guess you could have
him a backup, but that's not something you want to
you want him in the lineup. It sounds like at
some point, if it all comes together, final thing for Chris,
whether it's these guys or others along the way, these
six guys or other guys. So you have the number
(24:44):
one farm system in baseball and none of it's probably
safe to say all six. And I think there's one
guy that just missed the top one hundred and two
others that just were outside of it. So it's not
like there's other guys to discuss. So you have all
these guys, what do you do if you're Jerry Depoto
and Justin Hollander Because it feels as if you have
(25:04):
some chips to work with here, you have an opportunity
to go make your major league roster better. So who
of all these guys are the likely guys to get moved?
Maybe not right now, but at some point in the
near future.
Speaker 7 (25:16):
It's a great question because you know, it's easy for
me to just say, you know what, you have such
a great window right now move these prospects, like trading
any of these guys. Let's be completely honest, there's a
chance that you regret it and then some because here's
the thing, Not only do you have the chance to
regret it in two or three years. You have the
chance to regret it in two to three months, because
(25:37):
what if you have an injury and you don't have
that guy to no longer trade, or what if you
have an injury and you don't have that guy to promote.
So it's easy for me to just say, make these moves,
and they should. They ultimately should. It doesn't make sense
to have this much infield depth and not go improve
a major league roster that is extremely, extremely flawed. Who
are those guys I'm moving. That's a little tougher because
(26:00):
the guy who makes the most sense to me and
a trade is Harry Ford, but you're probably selling low
on Harry Ford right now. The infielder who makes the
most sense for me to trade is Cole Young because
of the upside of those other guys. But Cole Young
is the one guy who has a chance to help
you in twenty twenty five. So it's a really tough answer.
But ultimately, you got to get creative and you've got
to trust that you're going to look the Maris at
(26:21):
the third pick in this draft too. Let's not forget
about that that they are going to add a top
twenty five prospect to the system and a very good
draft on paper, so you're going to have a chance
to replenish yourself that way. Plus you have the added
allocated fund so you can play a little bit more
with your later draft picks. So ultimately, you just got
get cold and make those moves. I would be trading
(26:42):
Cole Young and Harry Ford, and I would be moving
him for a starting third basement. I would be moving
those guys for you know, an improvement in the corner
outfield and maybe having Grandia rose Arena be your designated
hitter or second base or you know, improve this bullpen.
Like I'm not saying move top prospect for bothmen Armsflold,
don't get crazy. But adding something to one of those
bats that you mentioned, something to improve the stability of
(27:06):
this release team is something you have to do. It's
it's very hard. I don't feel bad for them, because
it's a good problem to have that you have all
these prospects, but it's a bad problem to have that
you have this major league roster because right now it's
a very average MLB roster, and that doesn't make sense
to me to have an average MLB roster to play
in a division that is more on the way down
(27:27):
than on the way up. To be honest with you,
so you might as well take advantage of the situation.
Move these guys get better, and trust that your player
development system that is finally, finally competent is going to
help improve you in that way as well.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Where can we find your work, my friend?
Speaker 7 (27:44):
So I've been taking a break from Miley because I
have been having just horrible my brains. But I finally
got some medication to help. I won't promote it off
this Let's site that I'm feeling a heck of a
lot better. Please go to myli on YouTube. We're going
to be finishing up our player reviews. We're going to
be starting our previews for the season. Hopefully we're going
to have some transactions to talk about. I'm also gonna
(28:05):
be doing some NFL draft stuff. You're gonna be yelling
at Rob Rain because apparently he hates Notre Dame when
I was listening to that section no Top one hundred prospects. Man,
come on, that's just me and I love right, but
that they hate tard of Notre Dame will not stand,
my friend. But yeah, please check it out a whole
bunch of stuff coming up, and I just really really
appreciate the support.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Mile y go check it out on YouTube, will subscribe.
And Chris has got a lot of great work right there.
Thank you, sir. We'll talk soon you Chris Crawford joining us.
We'll take a quick break, come back, we'll kind of
recap what he had to say it and get ready
to talk to Corman Smith Top of the hour.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
You're listening to your one and only home for the super.
Speaker 5 (28:42):

Speaker 6 (28:44):
Make us your number one pre set in your car
and on the new iHeartRadio app. Now back to the
forestrun to you by Snow call me Casino on Sports

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Super Bowl k j R F M.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Corbyn's going to join us Smith Top of the Hour
talking to see Oxsyle Kubiak and much more, Senior Bowl
going on, all that coming up. So I'm one of
those guys guilty of like, uh, you know, farm System,
tell me about the whatever. But I really I've come
(29:21):
around mostly I think because of Chris, because of Chris
and stuff on our show, and realize how important it is.
And he knows what he's talking about. He knows what
he Sawry and you know, frankly, I know how important
it is and in the other sport that that I'm
intimately involved with with hockey and and those things matter.
You want to have good prospects. Good prospects if nothing else,
it helps you with what you can do with other
(29:43):
things like traits, Like if you have the thirtieth ranc
prospect pool, you ain't got nothing to work with because
you know, whether it's accurate or not. The reality is
other teams are not going to respect what you have, right,
They're not gonna make deals I can value it. Yeah,
So the question is what do you do? What would
you do if your justin Hollander and Jerry Depotle, Emerson
(30:03):
and Seleston have the highest ceiling. Young is the closest
to the majors. Montez is kind of intriguing, like a
monster aircraft carrier type guy.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Yeah, Like his ceiling is yord On Alvarez. Just so
you guys know, like, yeah, that's's the dude.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
So what do you do? What do you do? What
do you talk about on stove?
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Yeah, well we don't do a ton of prospect deep
dives were but Chuck has been all in on like,
you gotta trade some prospect.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
What would you do? What would you do? Personally? What
do you want to see them do?
Speaker 2 (30:32):
I like, I want to trade a prospect. I think
Chris A couple points that Chris mentioned which are very
very important. You Like, four of those guys are middle infielders.
Even if all of them work out and all of
them come to the majors, they're not going to all
be able to play at the same time, right So
moving one of them makes a ton of.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
If they moved who you would be upset? Upset?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
I would be upset if they moved Emerson or Cole
Young Personally, those are the high floor guys that Chris
is talking about, closest to helping your team now, I
would be okay, Slash the most inclined to move Seliston.
I know Chris says that he has the most likelihood
to be a superstar possibly, but he's also the farthest
(31:16):
away in terms of his.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
His his health. Would worry be.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Yeah, it sounds like plus, I just think you need
to capitalize on this team right now.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Yeah, I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
By the time a lot of those guys are ready
to come up, your starting pitching is gonna be gone, right,
You're gonna need to do it's it's always gonna be
one half of the team, right, So you need to
capitalize on this starting pitching right now. I think you
can keep Cole Young around and he can help you
possibly this year, but definitely by next year. And he
was saying Emerson by next year as well, which would
still be in your window. But Selston is at least
(31:47):
two years out, probably looking at three years. So moving
him for a piece that's like a big a bat
that's ready right now, possibly young, so you don't have
to pay for a ton of them.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
I think it's a move I would look to do.
Speaker 9 (32:00):
Know, I was thinking that one of the last Miley
wobs while we were still in the hashtag no Moves era.
That's exactly what Chris was saying about how farm rich
they are, yes, and that do it now, And that
was exactly the reason why I was to capitalize on
what they have and you're never going to see this
kind of pitching rotation that we that they have right
(32:21):
now at the exact same time, especially because they maintain
their health for the most part throughout the season, and
that's what they have been wanting this entire time, and
it's a shame that they couldn't sign someone.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
But you can trade someone.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Well, in another good point Chris made, you have the
number three pick in the draft this upcoming year, So
you can still even if you trade one of these
guys and you could possibly regret it, they'd come to
be a superstar.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
You could. You could.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
If you've that like confident in your drafting and developing skills,
do it again. Draft another guy, develop him like you're
going to keep adding to this pool because you have
been good at drafting. And that's something that I think
Jerry is fantastic at their drafts of awesome. The last
couple of years, you got you gotta trade one of
these guys.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
You gotta start moving young guys. You just do like
I and you just you have to move young guys.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
All right.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
We'll get back to that a little later. On four nine,

You're a pretty good player.

I'm not sure the last time guys from or Beach

Corben Smith joining us right now, big thanks and sold
by Jim, Sold by Jim dot Com. Let's let's get
this out of the way first, because people saw you
probably on social media. You you're doing some stuff different.
You're still unlocked on, still on the dow locked On podcast.
Speaker 10 (35:33):
Correct, Yep, I'm still doing that five days a week
and just kind of weighing some options as far as
the writing and reporting stuff goes. I'm optimistic there's gonna
be some good news in that front pretty quick.
Speaker 8 (35:45):
But for now, gonna be a free agent for the
first time.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
So well, it sounds like free agency won't last long.
And just by the way, whatever you're gonna do, you
right in there, that being part of the Ian Fernest
show is still part of that whatever you're doing. All right, fella,
let's go at absolutely all right. I need that to
be the case with you coming up.
Speaker 8 (36:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
So you can still hear him on a daily basis
on the Lockdown Podcast review podcast, and Cordin does a
great job covering the Seahawks. We have not spoken. Last
time we spoke, the Seahawks were looking for an offensive coordinator.
Then last weekend they found their offensive coordinator in Clinton Kubiak.
What was your reaction.
Speaker 8 (36:23):
I thought it was a really good hire. I don't
know if I would call it a home run.
Speaker 10 (36:27):
But I would say a triple probably in the sense
that you're bringing to a guy that's never coordinated.
Speaker 8 (36:32):
A top ten offense.
Speaker 10 (36:33):
But if you look deeper into what he accomplished with
the Minnesota Vikings in twenty twenty one and last year
the New Orleans Saints, he honestly did a pretty darn
good job with situations that weren't necessarily.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
The most ideal, especially last year.
Speaker 10 (36:50):
And I think that when you look at Seattle's personnel,
this was probably the best hire they could have made
if they were planning to stay the course with Gino
Smith and DK Metcalf and Jackson Smith and Jig but
and the weapons that they have in the backfield, I
think Klick Kubiak is best equipped to be able to
maximize that personnel and not have to force you in
(37:12):
a position where you feel like you're making a bunch
of wholesale changes on offense.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
The offense still will be dictated by what they can
do upfront with the offensive line. You mentioned Geno Smith
being a part of it, and we would expect, you know,
I mean, I guess things could happen. What do you think,
because he's gonna take the job, and he just went
through a season in which things were starting out fabulous, right,
like you got eighty plumos ninety points right in the
(37:37):
first two games with the New Orleans Saints, and then
Derek Carr gets hurt. And when he gets hurt, all
of a sudden, you go through the Jay Hayner, Spencer
Rattler horror shows at quarterback and listen, we all know
it's a quarterback based league. I'm going to ask you
a guess and speculate, but I'm gonna I'm gonna think
if he's if he's taking this job, I would I
(37:58):
would assume he knows who the quarterback is. It's probably Geno.
Speaker 10 (38:02):
I would think it has to be Gino, especially when
you look at the track record that he has when
he was in Minnesota as the quarterback coach for two
years and then the offensive coordinator for one season.
Speaker 8 (38:11):
Kirk Cousins was the quarterback all three of.
Speaker 10 (38:13):
Those years, and he had two seasons in that span
where he threw thirty five and thirty three touchdown passes.
He was in the top ten in that category both
those seasons and the one year that he was the
offensive coordinator. Cousins had thirty three touchdowns and only seven interceptions,
So not only did he throw a lot of touchdowns,
he didn't turn.
Speaker 8 (38:31):
The ball over.
Speaker 10 (38:33):
There's a lot of reason to be excited about putting
him with Gino Smith. His qbs have consistently been near
the top of the league in passer rating, in yards
per attempt, so he's gonna take his shots down field,
and also accuracy. He has generally had really accurate quarterbacks
within his offense. I just think when you look at
what Gino Smith's strengths are, that matches up to a
(38:54):
t with what Clint KUBIAKX quarterbacks that have been successful
have done well. So I think, just to me, this
hiring suggested that the Seahawks are moving forward with Gino Smith,
and I anticipate that Clint Kubiak's excited about that because again,
the skill set really matches what he asks his quarterbacks
to do with his scheme.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
It is our friend Corbyn Smith, Corbyn Smith joining us
on the Beacon Plumbing hotline as he does every Thursday
at one o'clock. Corbyn the we talked to Hugh milleny
o the day he looked up and I'm sure you've
seen the same numbers. I think Kubiak runs a very
very high percentage of two wide receiver sets, so multiple
tight ends up a lot of times multiple running backs
(39:35):
as well, but only two true wide receivers. I think
we all expect there to be some sort of movement
on the Tyler Lockett front, which is probably meaning Tyler
Lockett may not be back here next year, although who knows,
maybe they could restructure. But Jackson Smith and Jigba and
DK metcalf a pretty good place to start. Multiple tight ends,
though I'm wondering about that that was not a great
(39:58):
position to strength this season. Do you see Barner get
better at the end of the year.
Speaker 10 (40:02):
Yeah, And I guess the positive that I would put
with that is that, look, the numbers have just not
been there. But if you're looking for a silver lining here,
I mean, Ryan Grubb came in and the Ryan Grubb
was saying, hey, no offense, somebody that I think we
can get involved more in the offense, and it just
didn't happen. But you can look at Clint kubi x
(40:23):
track record and he not only has backed up his saying.
I mean, if you look at his tight ends last season,
Juwan Johnson had over five hundred receiving yards for the Saints,
and back in twenty twenty one they got really good
production out of Conklin, who is now with the New
York Jets, but he was the Vikings then and got
(40:44):
over five hundred receiving yards out of Tyler Conklin, who
is not exactly a you know, elite receiving tight end.
So I do wonder if no offense, that this could
finally be the offense where a coordinator actually knows how
to get him involved, because I feel like a lot
of the issues he's had production wise have been out
of his control. It just doesn't seem like he has
(41:05):
been somebody that they've been able to really scheme and
get involved the way that they want to. And I
think Clint Kubiak, with that heavy emphasis on two tight
end looks him and AJ Barner that could potentially be
a really good duo. The other thing this worth noting
is this is one hell of a tight end draft
class that is one of the deepest positions in this draft.
(41:26):
Seattle might decide, you know what, let's go cheaper there,
Let's have AJ Barner and an incoming rookie. And I
think Clint Kubiak has proven that he can get the
job done with younger players and unheralded players at the
tight end position.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
Corners Smith joining us, Let's talk a little draft for
a seconds. Senior Bowl going on, East West Shrine game
to night, Senior Bowl is on, is coming up on Saturday.
I do believe, in hell, half the time, the game
doesn't matter. It's all about the practice during the week.
Let's talk about the quarterbacks, because I do. And we'll
get to the other positions, especially interior of the offensive
line in a second, which I know your buddy Robert
and you've been talking about how deep that part of
(42:02):
the draft class is. But Jaln Milroe, Dylan Gabriel, Seth, Hennigan, Riley,
Leonard Tyler, Shuck Jackson Dart among the quarterbacks of the
Senior Bowl. Let me start a Jaln Milroll. I saw
you going on Twitter with some guys, excellent with some
guys back and forth. I'm I'm surprised he's coming out.
I'll be honest with you. That's the first thing. It
just jumps. I'm really surprised Jalen Milroll's coming out. Were
(42:25):
you surprised and what do you think about Milroe.
Speaker 8 (42:28):
I'm not gonna say.
Speaker 10 (42:29):
I'm surprised, because everything that I had heard the last
couple of months was that he was going to go
to the NFL regardless. But I think you just turned
on the last couple of games that Alabama played this season.
Speaker 6 (42:41):
Ian.
Speaker 8 (42:42):
Look, I've got a fifth round grade on him at
this point. I just do not see.
Speaker 10 (42:47):
I do not see a young man that has the
pocket presence. I don't see the ability to throw with anticipation.
I see inconsistent accuracy. Yes, he's a nominal athlete, and
you can come up with playbooks that can maximize that
in the NFL, but if.
Speaker 8 (43:07):
You've got a quarterback that can't consistently throw, your.
Speaker 10 (43:11):
Chance of having any longevity in terms of winning games
and having success moving to football, it's not gonna be
very good. And I just do I think there's still
potential there if he ends up in the right situation, sure,
but I sure would not have him touching the field
for a year or two, probably two at this point
because I think some of the issues he's dealing with.
(43:32):
I just don't know if you can teach a guy
to throw with anticipation after he doesn't do it very
well the NFL level field or college, all the fields,
like he kind of at times this year just kind
of chucked the ball up and his receivers went and
made plays, which is all fun Danny in college. If
you tried to do it in the NFL, though, you're
gonna leave the league in interceptions.
Speaker 8 (43:51):
That's what's gonna happen.
Speaker 10 (43:52):
So I just have a lot of reservations about him
as a prospect.
Speaker 1 (43:56):
Yeah, if you can't throw with accuracy and anticipate, those
are like the two of the three most important things
for a quarterback, and you know, swing pass, his quick slants,
things like that, and it sounds like he struggled with
this week. I just, I mean, you can be a
freak athlete, but let's be honest. You get to the
NFL and that's the entire league of freak athletes, right,
Like I mean, it's just I don't get the mill
(44:20):
roll thing. I just I really don't. Can you teach enough?
Speaker 10 (44:23):
It's not an example of Jaden Daniels or Lamar Jacks,
the guys that when you turn on the film, you're like,
these guys can make all the throws, they can throw
with anticipation, they know how to move the pocket.
Speaker 8 (44:35):
That's probably the thing.
Speaker 10 (44:36):
That bothered me the most with milroe Ian is that,
especially if you watch the Michigan Bowl game, there were
several times where it's like, you're a great athlete, you
got to get out of the pocket, right, Like he
had no general sense of anything around him, and he
had several of the games I watched, he had strip sacks.
Because he doesn't take care of the football either. I
(44:57):
just I have a lot of reservations about him.
Speaker 1 (45:00):
Props. Yeah, and that's what happened in that Michigan Bowl
game too. He lost them. I mean, yeah, it was wet,
the weather was bad, but you got to go at
some point, especially if that's a strength. I'm curious about
Tyler Shuck from Louisville. He was a guy that started
at Oregon. I might have started somewhere else before he
went to Oregon, but I know he's at Oregon for
a while. He's at Louisville right now. Sounds like he's
been okay and maybe kind of impressing some people down there.
Speaker 4 (45:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (45:23):
I think that he's a clear Day three guy that
might have enough upside if he ends up in the
right system where down the line. He could start for
you because he has enough arm talent. I wouldn't say
that he's got an elite arm by any means, but
he can get the ball out quickly. He's got enough
arm talent to be able to make all the throws
that you need to be successful at the NFL level.
(45:46):
He's generally been pretty good taking care of the football.
I do have some questions about durability with him. There's
been some injury issues in the past, but certainly a
guy that's got some trait and in this class that
might be enough to get you to be one of
the first five quarterbacks drafted, because there's a lot of
quarterbacks where you're looking like, I don't know that I
necessarily see very many traits that are prerequisite to be
(46:08):
NFL starting quarterbacks. He's one of them in Day three
that you could at least make an argument there's a
few traits there that have shown up in Mobile this week.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
He's gonna be twenty six in September, though, that's crazy.
Speaker 8 (46:19):
That's the other day.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
He's an old rookie. I mean, Michael Pennix thinks he's old.
That's how old this guy is right now? All right?
Among the other quarterbacks that are all these guys Senior
Bowl or Day three guys? Right, Get Dylan Gabriel, Riley
l Ryley, Leonard Camp throw in the NFL.
Speaker 8 (46:34):
I'll get a bat against that. He season.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
Jackson Dart from Old Miss Tyler Schuck, kid from the
Canadian Kid doesn't sound like he's much of a gonna
have much of a mommy. Maybe he's practice practice Luaguy
Seth Hannigan Memphis. All right, are these guys all Day
three guys or not?
Speaker 8 (46:49):
Then I'd say most of them are.
Speaker 10 (46:52):
But look, I posted my first mock draft of the season,
was my last article with Seahawks on his side this morning,
and I have some people that were kind of raising
eyebrows at my pick at number eighteen.
Speaker 8 (47:03):
But Jackson Dart.
Speaker 10 (47:05):
Is a guy that the more film I watched, the
more I become enambered by him. And he was the
first team All SEC selection Ian. I mean, the guy
was voted as the best quarterback in the SEC.
Speaker 8 (47:18):
He completed almost seventy percent of his passes.
Speaker 10 (47:21):
He led the nation with seventeen touchdown throws of twenty
plus yards traveling through the air. So he's got a
prolific arm over five hundred and fifty rushing yards each
of the last three seasons, So he's athletic.
Speaker 1 (47:33):
He can move.
Speaker 10 (47:34):
So basically, he's what a lot of these people are
trying to act and wish that Jalen Milroe was going
to become.
Speaker 8 (47:39):
He's a guy that's.
Speaker 10 (47:40):
Got mobility, but he can actually throw the football. Now,
he's not perfect. There's been some accuracy issues at times
despite that sixty nine percent completion rate, and I do
have some questions about what he's going to look like
in a pro style offense after playing in Lane Kiffin's
offense at all Miss, But I think that the traits
are clearly and if there's a third quarterback in this
(48:03):
draft class right now, it would be him. And we
know how that goes in the NFL. You could be
the fortieth or fiftieth best prospect, but if you are
the number three quarterback, you're probably gonna go in the
first round. I think Jackson Dart is gonna blow it
up at the combine. I think he's gonna interview well.
I would not be surprised that he goes on Day one.
Speaker 1 (48:23):
Wow, what would you think A Seattle took him at eighteen?
Speaker 8 (48:28):
I wouldn't bat nine.
Speaker 10 (48:29):
I think Klint Kubiak would love the traits because again,
the completion percentage, the arms strength. I mean, every quarterback
that Quint Kubiak's worked with has been in the top
ten in your attempt So you're gonna take some shots.
I mean, Rock Purty was number one when he was
the passing game coordinator in San Francisco. He averaged was
ten yards per attempt that year. So he wants a
quarterback that can get the ball down field. And Jackson
(48:52):
Dart is as good as anybody in this draft class
when it comes to throwing the ball downfield and hence
the touchdown numbers that I referenced. Look, he is not
a perfect prospect. Could he still going Day two?
Speaker 8 (49:03):
Absolutely?
Speaker 10 (49:03):
But I think you and I both know how this
works when this is a quarterback driven league, especially this
year in that class, after cam Ward Shaduur Sanders, somebody's
going to rise up as the cream of the crop
for number three.
Speaker 8 (49:16):
And right now, if id to hedge bets, I would
say that it could be Jackson.
Speaker 1 (49:19):
Dark Okay, So so if they were to do that,
and this first time you and I've had a chance
to actually talk draft which is kind of fun. If
they were to do that, Corbyn, then that would they
with all the other holes they have to fill, they
would be feeling good about some other things along the way.
Do you feel as if the interior I know, Rob
kind of does your partner on the LOCKEDWN podcast, Rob rang,
(49:43):
But do you share those same sentiments that the inside
interior offensive lineman class is deep enough that you could
still do well enough outside of the first couple rounds.
With the first round at least that if you take
a Jackson Darter or take a flyer on a tight
end like a Tyler Warren. If he's there, whatever it
might be, and that's not a flyer, he's going to
be good. But if you did that, you're still gonna
be okay to fill in those other needs.
Speaker 10 (50:04):
Yeah, I think that you can get really good guards
into day three in this class, to be honest.
Speaker 8 (50:10):
Especially when you see what's going on to the Senior Bowl.
Speaker 10 (50:13):
I'll just throw out one name that is actually from
Newport High School. Jackson Slater, who played at Sacramento State,
is probably going to be a mid day three guy.
But he's had a good week in Mobile and that
just tells you the depth that you've got.
Speaker 8 (50:27):
There's a lot of really good FCS offensive lineman in
this draft class.
Speaker 10 (50:32):
So I think you can take the best player available
and if you deem that its hey, we think this
kid at look what Kansas City did with Patrick Mahomes.
And I'm not saying Jackson Dart's gonna be Patrick Mahomes,
but it's still the same premise that we can a
year or two ahead of time, let's go get our
QB that we believe is gonna be our quarterback of
the future. And Don Schneider has not ever done that.
(50:53):
I mean, he's picked two quarterbacks his entire time in Seattle.
At some point, you've got to try to find a
young guy that can groom to be your long term answer.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
Along with you. I think every our fans kind of
thinking the same thing right now, like, can we can
we get that guy? I mean, it's you know, Alex
Magoo was an afterthought of a pick, and obviously Russ
was the third rounder that they ended up being. You know,
obviously your Super Bowl winning quarterback along the way, but
you need to find a quarterback at some point. We
just kind of went through the Senior Bowl. Guys. There's
(51:23):
other quarterbacks out there as well. We know that, but
just not a great quarterback class. I that offensive line's
got to get addressed. I mean, it's just absolutely flat
out has to get addressed. Give me one more name.
You already threw out one. Give me one more name
that's kind of jumped out at you Senior Bowl week.
Speaker 8 (51:43):
As far as any position, any.
Speaker 1 (51:44):
Position, any position, any position, I know how you operate.
You're looking at all these different guys or someone that
you fell in love with. Who else chopped out to me?
Speaker 10 (51:52):
If you want to talk about a crush, it's Mike Green,
the edge rusher from Marshall.
Speaker 1 (51:56):
Oh is that the kid that took care of Josh
Carnerly from from.
Speaker 10 (52:00):
Obviously that play has gone viral, but I've talked to
a few of my buddies that are in attendance. They said,
all that happened like three or four other times. He
is just you turn on the tape and you know
sometimes these guys. He's got a strange story because he
was at Virginia for a year and didn't play very well.
Transfers to Marshall and then twenty twenty three or four
(52:21):
and a half, that's not any great numbers and then
just exploded this year. And those can be guys you
worry about a little bit, like is he a one
hit wonder? So I was wondering, come from Marshall, was
he gonna look like in this All Star showcase. Well,
I don't blame him for not practicing the rest of
the week. With what he did the first two days.
He made himself a ton of money, was what he
was doing. Just wrecking blockers down there in Mobile and
(52:43):
he had seventeen sacks this year.
Speaker 8 (52:45):
He led the country in run.
Speaker 10 (52:48):
Stops for edge defenders. The quartering Pro Football Focus, he
turned the film on.
Speaker 8 (52:51):
He can see him. He's just he's a He's a
junk yard dog.
Speaker 10 (52:54):
The dude is tough. He plays bigger than two hundred
and fifty one pounds. I think he could potentially not
be there when the Seahawks pick at number eighteen. But
if he is, I think edge is a kind of
under the radar need for the Seahawks because boy Mafe
is gonna be a free agent next year, and who
knows what's gonna happen with the Chinanuosu and Draymond Jones.
(53:14):
They could easily go into next year without either one
of those guys if they cut him for cap casuallygue reasons.
Speaker 8 (53:19):
So I think that that would.
Speaker 10 (53:20):
Be a really good position for them to hit early.
Speaker 8 (53:24):
And Mike Green is probably the one I'm most excited about.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
Do you think that that viral video on that one
play will hurt connorly Jr.
Speaker 10 (53:33):
It shouldn't, because again I heard he was doing this
to everybody down there. Listen, Mike Green is a phenomenal
player turned on the Marshall film and.
Speaker 8 (53:43):
Just you realize just how goodness dude is.
Speaker 10 (53:45):
And the fact of the matter is that you have
to see the entire thing and discussions I've had connor
Le's played pretty well most this week, but unfortunately that
one play fans are gonna see it.
Speaker 8 (53:56):
The people who are in attendance have seen the entire
scope of work.
Speaker 10 (54:00):
So I don't think that that's gonna be something like,
oh God, at one rep, we're going to drop into
the fifth round.
Speaker 8 (54:05):
I don't see that happening all right.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
In the meantime, while you work on other things, tell
us about the podcast that you and Rob are doing.
Speaker 8 (54:12):
Yep, Lockdown Seahawks five days a week.
Speaker 10 (54:15):
You can follow us on YouTube or wherever you listen
to your podcast and then get the show against five
days a week.
Speaker 8 (54:21):
We might even be doing six.
Speaker 10 (54:22):
Right now as we get closer to free agency in
the NFL draft.
Speaker 1 (54:26):
Does Wranger know you're going to be doing six or
you're just gonna throw that out there? I do something
about myself. He's I mean, he's a hard guy to
work with. I can tell you that for a fact.
Speaker 11 (54:35):
Really.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
All right, hey Corbyn, thank you so much and we'll
talk to you next week. My friend sounds good. Thankan
that is Corbyn Smith. I love having him on every
week doing thanks to sold by gym dot com. All right,
take a break, come back. A couple of things I
want to hit on, including kind of revisits meritopics as well.
Also talk about the Seahawks and that draft concepts that
Corbyn threw out there. Much to discuss Daily Power Play
(54:58):
one forty five Gary Parrish too, three point three k
f M.
Speaker 6 (55:04):
You're listening to your one and only home for the
super Bowl. Super Bowl, make us your number one pre
set in your car and on the new iHeart Radio app.
Now back to you for this front to you my
snow called me Casino on Sports Radio ninety three point
three Super Bowl k j R. Fam.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
We're back at the R and R Foundation Specialist Studios today.
Turned around almost, how's your neck? Awful? What happened? I
have a pinched earth in my neck? Is that what
it is? Yeah? That's no fun. It's not fun. Have
any other swelling or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (55:56):
Uh No, I've had that your shoulder and I don't
feel like Yeah, but I just can't turn my neck.
It sucks, especially when I have my favorite team playing
on one screen over here and then I have you
guys over here.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
You have to swivel the chair. Yeah, he can't turn
the neck.
Speaker 1 (56:10):
Just I know you were planning and going into the
control room later, opening the door quietly and then clapping
your hands real quick to see.
Speaker 12 (56:16):
If that's a Chris Kid move. He scares the Hey Anderson.
It sucks to get old, doesn't it.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
Yeah, yeah it does.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
You're too young to get old.
Speaker 1 (56:30):
I'm too young to be old. It's too late to
be early. Oh gosh, that's brutal. Hanging in there, fella handsrying,
Oh my god, you have to do cracking the night? No, okay, thankfully,
get some some Mitchell thing. Yeah, yeah, I get to
watch it home, which looking forward to.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
Yeah, absolutely static position go off.
Speaker 1 (56:50):
I know the celebrating part would be kind of fun
to see in person though, But we'll have plenty of
opportunity unfortunately to see that guy.
Speaker 2 (56:55):
With Yes he's in our division now coming years. Yeah,
we'll get to a daily power play coming one forty
five today. Interesting conversation with Corbyn Smith there. I don't
know if i'd share his same sentiments if they took
Jackson Dart in the first round. In fact, wait a second,
I know I wouldn't share those same statements.
Speaker 1 (57:11):
Yeah, you wouldn't like it. No, okay, no, I don't
think he's a first round quarterback. And but he even
and Corbyn said it, that's the problem. Yeah, he's he's
going to have a second or third round. Great on him.
Hell I cam wore could go number one. He's not
a number one.
Speaker 4 (57:30):
No.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
Yeah, but this is a quarterback deficient drafts.
Speaker 9 (57:33):
So yeah, people will see raw material they can work.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
With this team needs. I'm like, it's hard because like
every coach and Gene will tell you, oh, we're not
we just draft the best player available. About that, because
he would say the same stuff.
Speaker 9 (57:50):
You know what I want to know is what kind
of battles I've heard from former NFL players who have
found out that there's been battles over them in the
war room or I'm sorry, the NFL draft room, and
that people have like that your entire life could change
in an instant.
Speaker 3 (58:06):
I wonder if he's been privy to.
Speaker 1 (58:07):
Well, Mike's told the stories before. I mean he you know,
when he was in charge and then he had his
personnel guys. It was more of a collaborative effort in
seattleh I'm talking about in Seattle. When he was in
Green Bay was Ron Wolf obviously, and but Mike was
involved in the process. When Ruskell took over, that was
kind of the beginning of the end because Ruskell, which
is just mind boggling to me and speaks to this
(58:30):
function that was Tim Ruskell. But Ruskell basically didn't include
at all the coaching staff, Mike or his coaches, which
I know when Pete was and John were, you know,
the last fourteen years, I mean we saw all. I mean,
those coaches were heavily involved a lot with the personnel guys.
It was very collaborative. I mean, it's you we want
(58:53):
to butt and rightfully so I mean, Schneider hasn't had
the best drafts over the last few years based on
you know, Pro Bowls and All Pros and things like that.
But but it was not just him. It was a
collaborative effort.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
So quick question for you. Yeah, hindsight's obviously twenty twenty.
But with it being a heavily talented quarterback draft class
last year, Yeah, would you look back and maybe trade up?
Speaker 1 (59:17):
No, because the Geno's contract was such that if you're
trading up to get one of those guys, you're probably
gonna want to play him right away. Okay, And these
guys are stuck kind of in no man's land.
Speaker 5 (59:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
I think that's the hard thing right now. They're stuck
the team right Well, the hockey team doesn't have a
winning record. These guys have got back to back winning
records and missed the playoffs back to back years by
literally a half a game, not a game, like a
half game. I had, I guess I know the marriage
real quick. So we had a little event last night. Yeah,
big shout out to the Mariners Adams. That was a good,
(59:51):
good event. Yeah, Adam and Tim certainly, and Freddie and
of course Alex. Big thanks to those guys for host
this last Those guys are really good dudes. Yeah, but
I was talking to to their markt. Well, he's got
promotions like the CEO or something. Now, Greg Green, he
was with Greg Rick Riz and I was talking, Hey, Rick,
thanks coming on last week and appreciate it, you know,
(01:00:13):
And as he said, well, you know, I'll come on
any time because of jest, not because of you. But
we joked. I said, I just want to hear some
more happy totals this year. And he says, you know,
last year we were one happy total short. He did
go into the playoffs. They were one happily we were.
I And we were one happy total away last year
(01:00:33):
from from getting into the postseason. And they were the
extual one away. That's the thing with the like they're
in this no man's land. They're they're not rebuilding. They
never will rebuild, like they'll never say that. I mean,
I think they should. Well, I don't know how you do,
because you've already got so many guys under contract that
are young enough guys you know, no.
Speaker 9 (01:00:53):
No, no, yeah, I think they're no man.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
I would say there's very few NFL teams that truly
are in rebuild mode.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
But I think there's a lot of fans that would
rather Okay, I don't want to say punt on a year,
but builds the future rather than keep trying to.
Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
But how do you?
Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
But I have so much?
Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
But I always counter when people say that, like, okay, okay,
how like what do you so you're talking in a
salary cap league? Yeah, how do you? How do you
rebuild when you already have guys under contract that you
can't buy out everybody? No, and you can't just you
can't just have a team filled with dead money. You
tank and get a top five pick. But the only
way you do that is you just don't resign guys.
And it's a it's a longer process than one or
(01:01:30):
two years. You gotta let contracts expire. You don't resign guys.
You're off, you know, you kind of take a downward trend,
then you hit rock bottom, then you build a back up.
They're not going to do that here, No, and there's
no reason to do that here, you know, And I
think you look, you've got to be really hard pressed
to get to that point. Yeah, you do. You know,
the Jets might kind of be there vin if they
(01:01:52):
get rid of Rogers.
Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Well, and you look at the teams that have done that, right,
it doesn't always work.
Speaker 8 (01:01:57):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
No, the teams that are successful now aren't there because
they tanked for a year or two. They're there because
they're doing exactly what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
Well, and then if what happens if now part of
it is the dysfunction of organizations too, right, right, I mean,
because Jacksonville would fall kind of into that category. They
they were awful, get the number one overall pick, and
then with that number one overall pick, they flip it
and get Trevor Lawrence and he hasn't developed. Tennessee's three
and fourteen this season. They've been bad for a few years,
(01:02:26):
but only for a couple of years. They were playoff
team two three years ago, right, right, you know Vegas
four and thirteen, they are pretty much rebuilding sort of, right,
New England is, I guess in a sense. But yeah,
since yeah, it's not just this year.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
Right, So I'm looking I'll look at the opposite way.
I look at the teams that are successful. Now, did
they ever go through like a quote unquote rebuild. I
don't see that. Philly never did. Detroit might be the one. Yeah,
you're right that Troit might be the one example.
Speaker 3 (01:02:56):
Washington.
Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
Yeah, Washington's at least always been co headitive.
Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Though yeah you never we're like, oh my god, worst
team in the league, easy win if you go play.
Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
I guess just most not liked team in the league
because of that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
Well, they were four thirteen last year, right, Washington? They
were four and thirteen last year.
Speaker 3 (01:03:11):
I mean, this should have been a rebuilding.
Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
They were able, But Washington eight eight the year and four,
So I mean, and even before that, seven and ten,
they've always you know, they have won really really bad year.
They won the division. They won the division in twenty twenty, Yeah,
with by the way seven to nine record, Yeah, the
Seahawk record that year. Right, But yeah, I don't know.
I just think you've got to you've got enough pieces
(01:03:35):
in place, all Like, how do you go to Devin
Witherspoon and say, hey, listen, we're still gonna want to
resign you in a couple of years when your contract's up.
How do you go to Julian love Right, how do
you go to guys like that that are under contract,
that are committed here. How do you go back and say,
can we want to resign Cross and Lucas and say,
but we're gonna rebuild. You can't do that with those guys.
You already have pieces in place, Ken Walker, what have you?
(01:03:57):
Dk Jackson Smith and Jig. But they've got guys, they've
got enough young talent Byron Murphy. Yeah, you know, I
think we like Derek Hall what he did this year
as he improved, So that's to bring to bring it
back to the quarterback. I want them to draft a quarterback.
I just don't think in this year's class there's one
worth the first round pick. Definitely not. Maybe like if
(01:04:20):
camera should do or slip that far, then maybe you'd
have to think about it. Yeah, not Jackson Dart. But
they're not going to No, they're not a chance. There's
no chance. There's no chance that's gonna happen. All right,
Daily Power Play coming up next, we'll check in Crack
and we're gonna he from Dan Boswall, right, Yes we are, yep, Okay,
we'll hear about what's going on with Crack and they
take on santos Hey tonight and then talking all things

thirty drop of the puck tonight bracken Er seeing any
hope of the playoffs starting to slip away. Phil Grubauer,
as we talked about yesterday's kind of been a big
story the last twenty four hours. He was placed on
waivers with the purpose. I think it's important distinction. It's
(01:06:15):
just I've seen a lot of watching the news this morning,
my buddy Wixy, and he's he was placed on waivers
to go to the Couchello Valt. They wanted to go
down there and work on his game. Now, they would
never say this publicly, but if he were to be
claimed and someone took on that salary, that would have
(01:06:37):
been great. I can not great, but that was a
million a gift to the Seattle Kraken. It would have
it would have been Uh, it would have been a
big deal. And yeah, it would have been. But there
was a lot said about the you know, where these
guys were and what was going on and is it all?
Is it? Is it?
Speaker 8 (01:06:57):
You know?
Speaker 1 (01:06:58):
Is it a groovy thing?
Speaker 8 (01:07:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
A lot of it is a groovy thing. He's not
been good and hopefully you can go down and find
his game in in Coachella Valley in the American Hockey
League kind of like Tristan Jarry's trying to do right
now for Pittsburgh, who was their starting goaltender, and then
after giving up a whole boatload of goals, so Seattle,
he got sent down the next day. But that's kind
of what you would hope is he goes down there.
(01:07:22):
Grubauer did clear by the way, he did clear waivers,
so he's not get he didn't get claimed till he'll
be down there. Here is Dan Biles on the decision
and really what happened and how they got to this point.
Was it just the game the other night when he
got lit up by Anaheim or was it.
Speaker 13 (01:07:37):
More It's not a one This is not a one
one moment, you know, decision, So it's more over the
over the course of the year, and and also the situation.
I think you know it's it's it's gone rough over
the last three weeks in the game, situations that he's
(01:08:00):
been in, and you know, again, this is a team
based and it's performance bace and it's a team based thing.
It's it's falling on Groovy's shoulder in this case. But
I think we all bear responsibility, the players and myself included.
Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
Let's get one more. How about really kind of the
man who is the most steadying influence of all on
the back end for the Kraken defenseman Adam Larson, who,
by the way, just played his nine hundredth career game
the other night. Good defense could make your goalie look good.
Speaker 11 (01:08:37):
And I thought even last night or that night really
kind of left him out to dry. They're in a
couple of goals, so I don't think he's just the
one to lay him on those. It's for sure some
some holes in our on our defensive side of thanks,
and we're all responsible how this season have gone so far.
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
And yeah, he's right. I think out of the goals
that were scored the other night, he gave up five,
I think three and a half hard the rebound, didn't
like the rebound, didn't like the play he made. But
the rich shot the game winner was the worst. But
(01:09:19):
the other but the other ones were hard. They were
all backdoor, going side to side.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
But you could say that for a lot of teams,
Like you're playing against the most skilled players in the league. Yeah,
you gotta make saves, you gotta biw your team out,
and they do the same. Like there's a lot of
talk like, oh, do they play worse in front of
Grubauer than.
Speaker 1 (01:09:38):
They do in front of Joey? There may be something
to that. He was asked that. Yeah, he was asked
that he and Bilesman said no, no, it's pretty damn comment. Yeah,
so you gotta make saves man. I think it was
written this morning by by Calkins in the Times. Ye
like it's bigger issues than just the goaltender. Yeah it is,
(01:09:59):
and and really it's not the goaltender to the issue.
Now they have a they're ten games under five hundred
with him in net this year. That doesn't Goaltender wins
are sometimes like pitching wins.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Well when you compare to what they are with Joey
almost ten games over five hundred with him in net.
Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
And Joey's numbers are top five in the league and
pretty much every category exactly. But they're they're their issues.
Do you run deeper than that in terms of scoring
goals and so forth? So be going to tell you
we mencessarily. Hockey Riders did their rankings of the top
farm system sale cracking. They were ranked eighth. They dropped
down to tenth for some reason. I'm not sure why
not things happened. They haven't traded anybody. And the weird
(01:10:36):
thing is is their first round pick from last year
is not even listed as their top five prospects. So
now I'm kind of wondering how much Tree there, no, no, no,
their their top round all two years ago, I'm sorry,
two years ago, and Edward Schila who had a just
an incredible World junior. So I'm not sure how much
even credis I want to give to these guys anymore.
Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:53):
I like the fact that they're ranked tenth, but Julius Mittenan,
who plays for Everett, is their top prospect. These guys
rank Carson Ray Coff, Berkeley Cat and Yannie Newman. We're
called Newman and David Goyettes are well, it looks like Nyman.
It's n y but it's Newman, Newman, Newman. I can't
(01:11:13):
wait till I hear those got fours, Like, what's that German?
I think he's Finish, Okay, I think the whole team's Finland.
Everyone's from Finland. From Finland. Okay, I'm I'm a fin too.
We're all fins. That's a good thing. It's good. It
was actually, if they're not going to put shilet on
there and they're still ranked number ten. UM like it
because I think he's I want to see him up.
Speaker 7 (01:11:34):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
I think there was a lot of like he was
kind of one of the weaker links and their draft
picks the last few years.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
But he's been coming on a great example of why
in baseball is the same way we just talked about
that with Crawford. You can't judge guys when they're seventeen
or eighteen. You got to let him develop a little bit.
So lat was awful last year in the Ontario Hockey League.
He didn't want to be in North America. Was out
of just out of sort. He's been really good in
Coachella Valley in the American le playing with grown ass men,
(01:12:01):
and then he was really good at the World Juniors
as a nineteen year old. Yeah, like he's I want
to see him up. This thing is, this thing's about
over what is zero point eight percent? They have a
chance to make the playoffs. I mean, yea Anaheim if
they if they lose, they got five games left before
the break right today, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, five games left.
(01:12:25):
If they don't win all five of those games like, Yeah,
let's let's see let's see Chalet up here. Man, Let's
see what he can.
Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
Do that would make me. Let's get you move up
here too.
Speaker 9 (01:12:35):
Even if they're you know, if they're mathematically out of
it and then they start bringing guys up, that is
a reason for me to go down and watch.
Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
Yeah, I'll be completely tuned in.
Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
Yeah, it's a little different actually, depending on what they
get back in the trades when they do make some
deals and tannem And and Gord are probably going to
be gone and they probably will be bringing some young
guys up unless they've trade for NHL. Ready, guys, right now,
we'll see, all right, take a break, come back. Changes
to the nc double oh, David, great song?
Speaker 6 (01:13:04):
The uh?
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
Will there be changes to the NCAA tournament. We'll talk
about that. Don't don't fix what's not broken, all right,
we'll talk about that with our guy Gary Parrish.
Speaker 6 (01:13:13):

of the year. Our Frank Gary Parrish joining us here

if you're in Spokane, and I know there's a lot
of people. I say this every year this time, a
lot of folks from over here. They've got a couple
of big junior basketball tournaments. The middle school tournament's coming up.
(01:14:35):
Swing on, by no Lie. I can tell you this.

You'll need it for the weekend of middle school basketball. Hi, Gary,
how are you.
Speaker 5 (01:14:50):
I'm wonderful.
Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
How you been, man, I'm good, buddy, I'm very good.
A lot of stuff I want to get today. I
want to start a bigger picture thing. Your friend Matt Norlander,
good friend of yours from the I On College Basketball podcast,
the best one out there period. Although I got to
tell you your guys are the Cover three this year.
I really I fell in love with the Cover three
podcasts for college football. Yeah, they're kind of nuts, Like
those guys are borderline and I think Chip Chip kind
(01:15:13):
of fills in every now and then for one of
you guys as well.
Speaker 5 (01:15:15):
So that's right.
Speaker 14 (01:15:16):
Those guys are terrific, and because they do kind of
what I'd like to think I do when I'm at
my best, which is every show. If I can make
you think a little bit, make you laugh a little bit,
and maybe tell you something you didn't know before you started,
you know, I've accomplished some stuff. And those guys are
good at doing all of those things as well. So
(01:15:37):
I'm glad you're a fan of them.
Speaker 5 (01:15:38):
I'm a fan of them. That's a nice of you
to say.
Speaker 1 (01:15:40):
Yeah, those guys are great. The CBS guys do great podcasts.
Go check them out wherever you get your podcasts. All right,
bigger picture nor Lander wrote a story a CBS Sports
dot Com Stu Jackson, the WCC commissioner who we've tked,
we've had on the show actually with all the changes
out here and the fact that Washington State and organ
strator and the WCC right now for a couple of years,
expressing a little bit of a concern, bigger picture concern
(01:16:01):
with how the tournament is run in the future. And Gary,
I'll let you kind of maybe help us out here,
because how I read it, it sounds like he and
other commissioners of the non power five conferences, which in
basketball frankly is huge, Like those are a big part
of college basketball, you know, Missouri Valley, all those, what
(01:16:22):
you know, that's the smaller conferences. Concern about where we're
going in the future. Gosh, it feels a lot like
the college football playoff for the big ten of the
SEC are trying to flex some muscles along the way.
What is his what are his concerns?
Speaker 14 (01:16:34):
Well, they're the same concerns as you put it, that
every commissioner outside of the traditional power structure has, which is,
are they going to push us out of this thing?
They're already making it harder for us, Now are they
going to push us completely out of it? You know
on the football side, because you're right to point out
these are very different things. The truth is, I like,
(01:16:57):
you know, the non power conferences being able to coexist
with the power conferences in the sport of football. I
like that there's access points now for a University of Memphis,
my alba mater, to actually make it into a playoff
with the University of Tennessee and Alabama and so on
and so forth. But it's not that important to the
(01:17:17):
grand scheme of things of college football. We've been doing
college football for a long time, and we did it
without the Memphisis for a long time. There was a
point where we just put we just picked two teams
that we thought were the best, to tell them to play,
and then we'd call one of them the national champion.
Before that, we just voted on it. You can do
college football without the so called little guys and.
Speaker 5 (01:17:36):
It will work fine. Nobody will even blink.
Speaker 14 (01:17:40):
And that's why when I would have conversations with conference commissioners,
say at the SEC level and the Big ten level,
you know, years ago, they'd say, you know these you know,
group of five conferences. They can keep pushing saying they
need access and they need but we can cut them
out and it won't matter.
Speaker 5 (01:17:57):
So they need to be careful how hard.
Speaker 14 (01:17:59):
They're because you push it a little too hard and
we might just say, buddy, we already given you more
than you deserve. Will do this without you. And in basketball,
clearly they could do the same thing, and clearly that
is a concern. But in basketball it's different because in basketball,
the nonpower conference schools do matter. You know, some of
the great stories we ever have attached to the n
(01:18:21):
Sibley Tournament. They don't involve Big ten schools or SEC schools.
They involve Gonzaga out of the WCC, Butler previously out
of the horizon, you know, VCU out of the CAAA
once upon a time, George Mason going to a final
four in two thousand and six. You lose something when
you lose that, and there's at least a chance we
(01:18:42):
could lose that someday. And obviously I work for CBS.
My bosses are some of the people who will play
a role in these decisions down the line, if not them,
then the people who replace them someday. And I can
tell you that when I have these conversations with them,
they are confer lied about it. Because on one hand,
there's a lot of data that shows when you put
(01:19:05):
big brand against big brand, that's the best thing for television.
Number one versus number nine is not better than number
eleven versus number seventeen. If number eleven versus seventeen is
Big ten against SEC and number one versus number nine
is something less than that, you want Michigan against Ohio
(01:19:26):
State on your network, regardless of whether Michigan Ohio State
are good. People will watch it just because it's recognizable
brands and logos and everything else. So on one hand,
I think strictly from a spreadsheet perspective, you could trick
yourself into thinking, if you eliminate all the little guys
from the NCAA tournament, then you just have big brands
(01:19:48):
on big brands, and how much money is that worth?
Speaker 5 (01:19:50):
But what my bosses and other people like them will
tell you is that.
Speaker 14 (01:19:54):
Us lose something in basketball that you wouldn't lose in
football with the Saint Peter's no longer being in involved
and the Oakland's no longer being involved. But yes, it's
a fear because every other decision that has been made
in college athletics over the past three decades has been
motivated by money. And if these people who are in
power ever convinced themselves, with no regard for anything else,
(01:20:17):
that they can make more money cutting the little guys out,
well that's what the wcc's concern is.
Speaker 1 (01:20:22):
And they and they should be concerned. It's scary Parish
joining us here Weekly Visited brought to you by Nola
Brewing right in the shadow of Gonzaga. We just mentioned
that I that's the That's the first thing I thought
of with it, Like with all the changes in college sports,
is you know, the one thing that we have that
just is awesome every year is a sixty eight slash
sixty four team tournament that everyone, all three hundred and
(01:20:44):
fifty or so, you know, Division I college basketball programs
in the country have access to. You all have access
to it, when your tournament, when your conference, whatever it is,
you have an access to it. You know you mentioned
The first thing I came to my mind when I
saw what he wrote it is, well, what happens to
Ukon They're not in the SEC, they're not in the
(01:21:04):
Big Ten, they're not in the ACC.
Speaker 5 (01:21:07):
What happened?
Speaker 1 (01:21:07):
What about if Villanova gets good again? Like, like, we
start thinking about all these programs that have had great success.
Never mind the Floorida Atlantics or whatever that jump up
and you know, you meet George Mason or whoever. They
kind of jump up out of nowhere and make some
noise every now and then, But it's what makes college
basketball great. Gary. And then on top of that, you
always hear the stuff about, well maybe we'll expand the tournament.
(01:21:29):
I don't understand where people get certain things just work.
In my opinion, if the NFL tomorrow said they're gonna
they're gonna you know, their partners with CBS and ESPN,
and maybe even if they go to Yahoo and others
and said we are going to eliminate fantasy football, it's done.
Speaker 5 (01:21:47):
Well.
Speaker 1 (01:21:48):
You can't have a website that exists anymore that allows
scoring to happen, because that's how it's done and all
that we're gonna eliminate fantasy football. Would anybody watch Cleveland
and Jacksonville on a Thursday night? No, like they just
wouldn't do that right, same thing with a basketball turnam.
We had that nice, neat little thing. It's a bracket.
Ten million people fill one out on a minimum every
(01:22:10):
year that we know about. Why do people mess with
things that work? Gary, especially in this sport. Everything you
just said is true. The answer to your question is
simple because money. Yeah, It's like you know, if you
put me in charge and it wasn't my job to
make money, it was just my job to make something awesome,
I would say let's go back to sixty four because
(01:22:32):
it fits perfectly on the page. I guess nobody prints
anything out anymore. We did. I've got but we.
Speaker 14 (01:22:41):
Grew up printing this thing out and everybody had one.
You didn't have to be a basketball fan to have
a bracket. Everybody has a bracket and it fit perfectly.
Now we've added four more into sixty eight and it
doesn't fit quite the same way, but it still works.
But if you want to know why they're eventually going
to go to seventy two or seventy six or seventy
eight or something, it'll be because you know, I don't
(01:23:01):
want to speak out of both of them as my mouth.
It'll be because of somebody who works at a network
like mine, tells the NCAA or whoever is running college
basketball at that time. If you expand your tournament, you
expand the number of tournament games you have.
Speaker 5 (01:23:16):
This is not hard to follow.
Speaker 14 (01:23:18):
And the more tournament games you have that we can
put on TV will give you more money for them.
And that's how you get an expansion in the INNCNABLA tournament.
And I'm not one of those people who want it.
I'm also not one of those people who thinks it
will ruin the game. You get that sometimes like and
it'll be the end. Every single sport in the world
gets expanded everything, the World Cup, the NFL, the NBA playoffs,
(01:23:43):
MLB playoffs. It doesn't ruin anything or kill it. It
might lessen it. I would prefer the NCAA tournament to
go back to sixty four, but it's a sixty eight
and we still have a blast every March, and when
it goes into the seventies, we'll have a blast. But
I like it the way it is, or you know what,
I even like it the way.
Speaker 1 (01:24:01):
It was a Gary Paris showing his courtesy, a dul
Lie joining us every Thursday. We appreciate him popping on.
All right, let me let's get to the basketball on
the floor. What do we learn from the Auburn Tigers
in their game last night? They and for people that
don't know, if you're just this is like, this is
kind of our one on one. We're starting to get
you ready for the aforementioned tournament, your bracket and everything else.
(01:24:23):
Bruce Pearl's Auburn Tigers team. You better be aware of them,
right the ring number one in the eight people. They
are number one in not all computers, but most. They
have the best resume in the country by far. We
could have an interesting debate or more likely and not
that interesting debate about who's the best team in the country,
because that's subjective. You could argue Duke or Alabama or
(01:24:46):
Auburn or you know that that might need to be
where you stop. But you could have an argument, and
you could find data to support whatever argument you wanted
to make. But there is no debate about who's got
the best resume in the sport right now, and it's
it's Bruce Pearl's Auburn Tigers. They're nineteen and one overall,
seven to zero in the SEC, and currently projected to
(01:25:06):
win that league by three games at Kinpalm dot com.
I want people to understand how crazy this is. The
SEC is probably less roughly a month away from putting
more teams in the NCAA Tournament than any conference has
ever put in the Incita LA Tournament.
Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
The record is eleven.
Speaker 14 (01:25:23):
They're probably going to get twelve or thirteen, depending on
what bracketologists you like. Right now, the projections are twelve
or thirteen. They could have two or three number one seats.
They could end up with multiple Final four teams. If
somebody were to offer you the field or the SEC
to win the national championship, it might not be crazy
(01:25:44):
to take the SEC and Auburn is projected to win
that league by three games. They are so much better
than everybody else in the best league in the country
that and maybe the best league of all time, that
they are projected to win it by three games.
Speaker 5 (01:26:00):
It's outrageous. They're twelve and one in Quadrant one right now.
Speaker 14 (01:26:05):
Duke is number two in the country, not in that
resume ranking that I just laid out, but in the
AP pole and in most human poles and in some computers,
and Duke is five and two in Quadra one.
Speaker 5 (01:26:23):
Auburn is twelve and one. That's how far they are
ahead of the pack.
Speaker 14 (01:26:27):
What I'm trying to tell people, because I'm preparing for
when Auburn loses and everybody thinks Dukes should just jump
right to number one, I'm trying to prepare people for
that is probably what will happen with the apop pole,
because that's why AP voters do it.
Speaker 5 (01:26:39):
It's not smart, it's not what should happen.
Speaker 14 (01:26:41):
Think of Auburn as a golfer right now, with a
three shot lead on the field, Auburn, if it's a golfer,
could hit its t shot into the water, take a
drop bogie and still be ahead of the field, no problem, even.
Speaker 5 (01:26:53):
If everybody else in the field part or birdied.
Speaker 14 (01:26:55):
If Auburn loses this weekend at ole Miss, and they
can because ole Miss is good and it's the road game,
I will wake up Sunday and keep Auburn number one
in the top twenty five and one. They have created
so much of a cushion that they that's the I
don't know if it's the best team in the country,
but it's the best resume and operating at an extremely
extremely high level.
Speaker 1 (01:27:13):
Gary Gary Perr, shoring Hiss Courtacy, no live duke to
Alabama in your top twenty five and one duke to
Alabama three, Florida four. And we get to the Alabama
and Florida in a second, because as you're talking about
the number one seeds or those are both last I
checked to Alabama Florida SEC teams. Does Auburn now have
the best player in the country or is it Cooper Flag?
Speaker 5 (01:27:31):
Still I still think it's Cooper Flag.
Speaker 14 (01:27:34):
I ultimately believe Cooper Flag is going to become the
youngest Wooden Award winner ever.
Speaker 5 (01:27:39):
He just turned eighteen four days before Christmas.
Speaker 14 (01:27:42):
But this player of the Year races up for grabs
in a way that I don't know that I would
have told you when we had this conversation last week,
because last week Cooper Flag was flourishing and Jenni Broom
was still sidelined with an ankle injury. But he came
back this past weekend led them to the victory over Tennessee.
They were down four side the final two minutes, went
on a six to zero run to close it. When
(01:28:03):
that game by two, and then they last night go
on the road get another QUADRT one victory and he
went twenty six points, sixteen rebounds, and four blocks. Cooper
Flag is the best player in the country. Cooper Flag
is gonna be, barring a surprise, the number one pick
in the draft. But this player of the Year race
is not over. It's starting to feel a little bit
like JJ Reddick and Adam Morrison Duke Gonzaga when that
(01:28:27):
went down. And what's interesting about it is that these
aren't just the two best players in the country. They
are in most people's minds, the two best teams in
the country.
Speaker 5 (01:28:36):
Right now.
Speaker 14 (01:28:36):
Auburn is number one, Duke is number two. Right now,
Cooper Flag and Jeni Broom are one and two in
the Player of the Year race. It should be a
really fun and interesting final. You know, several weeks of
the season because the Player of the ear race that
seemed kind of settled. And I hold my hand up
and I was a part of this conversation. I was like,
Cooper Flagg's probably gonna run away with this thing. Jedi
(01:28:57):
Broom is not gonna let him. It looks like Auburn's
not gonna let him. It looks like he might still
get the trophies. If we were voting today, I'd vote
for him. But Jeni Brown made a big statement last
night and another massive win for Booth Pearl's program.
Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
One thing we've learned over the years with Gary is
it just because you look at a rankings, even his
top twenty five and one, which he updates every morning,
doesn't mean one, two, three, and four or all would
be the four top seeds, or does it?
Speaker 5 (01:29:21):
You mentioned it?
Speaker 1 (01:29:22):
We could have multiple SEC teams as one seeds. Right now,
Auburn is the number one team and your top twenty
five and one, Duke is number two, acc then Alabama,
Florida three and four, Iowa State close behind at five.
They lost on Monday to Arizona. Who would your number
one seeds be today, right now, in this moment, I
would go Auburn, Duke, Alabama, and Florida. So yeah, I
(01:29:45):
would have three SEC teams as number one seeds. And
that's where we're at. We do the on College Basketball podcast.
Speaker 14 (01:29:51):
Three times a week, and we have spent so much
time talking about the SEC that, yeah, I look at
the comments and I don't adjust for the comments because
you've been doing this long enough. You know, just because
one person out there thinks they want to hear something
doesn't mean everybody else wants to hear something. Like I
live in a market where we have a Triple A
baseball team, not even what you guys have. And every
(01:30:13):
once in a while, when I would do a radio
show in a traditional way before I changed jobs, people
would like call in sometimes and be like, I don't
know why you don't talk about the Memphis Redbirds more.
And I'm like, well, buddy, because you're the only one
that wants to hear that. Nobody else wants to hear that.
And so you'll get that every once in a while,
like why are you still talking about the SEC? So much,
(01:30:35):
but like that is the story of the sport this season. Yeah,
Cooper Flag's that story. And you know Rick Patino having
Saint John's in position to win a Big East title
for the first time since nineteen ninety two, that's a
great story. But the biggest story is that the SEC
is going to go down in history as the best
(01:30:58):
conference in any season in the history of college basketball.
That is the biggest story in the sports to season.
And you know the reason we talk about it is
because that's it's worthy of being talked about.
Speaker 1 (01:31:09):
I do want to touch one thing before I let
you go on the teams that have left the pack,
that the Pac twelve's disintegration. Oregon is the only one
in your top twenty five and one that's ranked of
all the teams. We talked a little bit about mc
cronin last week, and he's and of cronin is not.
I mean, cronan probably speaks for a lot of coaches.
(01:31:30):
Football decision. No one's happy with it, But the Big twelve,
the travels not that bad for those teams, Arizona Schools
and and Utah Colorado in Oregon, I don't know. I
watched him play Washington last week. I didn't think they
look very impressive at all. Then they lose in Minnesota,
right like, so it's like, I don't think that's a
very good team, a very impressive team, I should say,
But what's the early returns. What are you hearing from
(01:31:52):
coaches around the league about the realignment and how the
PAC twelve is favoring because it kind of feels like
what we thought about the PAC twelve for a long time.
Maybe the weakest of the power conferences is coming to fruition.
Speaker 14 (01:32:02):
I don't want to speak for every coach who got
moved out of the PAC twelve into a new league,
but I can tell you most of them would rather
be doing what they used to do.
Speaker 5 (01:32:12):
But they're not the ones who made the decisions.
Speaker 13 (01:32:15):
You know.
Speaker 14 (01:32:15):
The university presidents and chancellors made these decisions, and those
people were motivated by money. But if you're Tommy Lloyd
or Dana Autman Mick Cronin, like, your contract did not
change because you moved to the Big ten or the
Big twelve. Your contract might have been adjusted or whatever
(01:32:36):
for a variety of reasons, but you your school gets
more money by changing conferences. You don't, So your life
got harder without extra compensation for it to get harder.
Speaker 5 (01:32:47):
Your travel is more difficult than it's ever been.
Speaker 14 (01:32:51):
Your schedules or you know when coaches feel good when
they win games against anybody, you know when it feel
bad when they lose games against anybody. Well, now you're
losing more than you other wives would lose because you
are in the Big ten and Big twelve playing tougher
schedules than you would otherwise be playing.
Speaker 5 (01:33:05):
So I don't know a single coach like, here's here's
what most of them will tell you.
Speaker 14 (01:33:10):
I don't like it, but I'm I'm also making four
million dollars a year, so I'm just gonna shut up
and do my job right. And that's probably the proper perspective.
But to a man, they all know that this was
motivated by things.
Speaker 5 (01:33:25):
With very little regard for.
Speaker 14 (01:33:28):
Student athlete well being, very little regard for sensible travel,
very little regard for geography, and everybody's everybody's life is
is is more difficult than it was.
Speaker 5 (01:33:39):
This time last year.
Speaker 14 (01:33:41):
To be clear, we live in a world where you know,
sixty something people died in a collision over the Potomac
River last night. None of this stuff is that serious.
These are minor problems. But you know, if we're just
having a conversation about coaches complaining, Yeah, they don't like this,
this is not this is not the life that they
wanted to live.
Speaker 1 (01:34:00):
Uh what we mentioned Ole miss in Auburn. This is
a weekend without football for the first time all like
since August. No football. Give our listeners another game that
it's a must watch this weekend.
Speaker 14 (01:34:12):
I don't know that it's a must watch for the game,
but games happen every day. I love them, you love them.
They're not the things that I remember. I remember scenes,
I remember moments. I remember Lebron James going back to
Cleveland for the first time. I remember Kevin Durant going
back to Oklahoma City for the first time. And we
got one of those this weekend. John Calipari is the
coach of Arkansas Razorbacks.
Speaker 1 (01:34:33):
It's almost like we rehearsed this, Gary, It's almost like
we rehearse this.
Speaker 5 (01:34:36):
I were going back to rap Arena for the first
time as a visitor, and I don't know what it's
going to be like.
Speaker 14 (01:34:44):
I know what it could have been like under different circumstances,
But I think the context matters and The truth is
John didn't leave for a better job. He left because
most of those people who are going to be in
the building on Saturday were posting on social media that
they wanted him to leave. And Kentucky's better off for it,
it appears, and John's struggling. So there's like a lot
(01:35:06):
of dynamics there that could make you not boo like
crazy like you might have in another world.
Speaker 5 (01:35:12):
And if I were there, this is the best way
I'll say this.
Speaker 14 (01:35:18):
I've been doing this long enough to know me trying
to tell fans how to feel about something is wasted words.
They don't I What they will tell me is I
don't understand, all right, and perhaps I don't, So I'm.
Speaker 5 (01:35:29):
Not interested in telling Kentucky fans how to act. Do
whatever you want to do. I don't care.
Speaker 14 (01:35:35):
What I will say is that if I were a
Kentucky fan and I were sitting in Rapparena with my
three sons, I would tell my three sons, we are
gonna We're gonna applaud this man because for fifteen years
he cared about this place that we care about. For
fifteen years, he brought us some of our best sports memories.
For fifteen years. He did everything he could to try
(01:35:55):
to make our favorite team matter. He brought in incredible prospects,
and maybe he didn't win as much as we wanted,
But man, he won a lot for Final four US.
Speaker 5 (01:36:04):
He won a national championship. Was it perfect?
Speaker 12 (01:36:07):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:36:08):
Could you believe he lost to Saint Peter's in Oakland?
Speaker 1 (01:36:11):
No?
Speaker 14 (01:36:11):
Did you like everything he said after every frustrating loss
and the arrogance? Sometimes No, But that man still cared
deeply about this place.
Speaker 5 (01:36:20):
He still does.
Speaker 14 (01:36:21):
He didn't want to leave us. We told him to leave.
We broke up with him, He didn't break up with us.
We don't have to make this day offer for him.
That's gonna be a big day for John and his family.
He might not verbalize it, but he cares deeply about
everything connected to that place. In his mind, he was
supposed to retire there, live there, and pop into games
(01:36:44):
to watch his successor probably somebody he hand picked as
he gets asked to do one selfie after another with
Kentucky fans for the rest of his life. That's what
his plan was, and that's not his reality anymore. And
I'm sure that's hard. I haven't talked to him about
it in any detail. But I know, as somebody who
covered John as his beat writer for four years and
(01:37:06):
was with him every day, I know this is hard
for him. And I'm just at a point in my
life where i don't have much interest in If I
got an opportunity to make somebody feel good or make
somebody feel bad, I'd rather make him feel good than bad,
and Kentucky fans.
Speaker 6 (01:37:18):
Have that power.
Speaker 5 (01:37:19):
On Saturday.
Speaker 14 (01:37:20):
Rick Patino this morning made a video and posted it
on social media, encouraging Kentucky fans treat him well because
I know how you treated me when I came back,
and it almost brought me to tears. It's the worst
day of my coaching career walking back into Roperna for
the first time. I know how you made me feel.
Don't make John Caliperry feel that way. And this is
(01:37:40):
Rick Patino who acknowledged this morning. I'm not best friends
with that guy. I don't even really like him. I
just know how he's gonna feel on Saturday. If you
make him feel that way, and I don't think anybody
should feel that way. It'll be an interesting scene this weekend.
And again, I don't know if it's the best game.
But it'll be it'll be the best scene.
Speaker 1 (01:37:57):
One way, it'll be the best scene.
Speaker 4 (01:37:58):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:37:59):
I in College Basketball Podcast. Another one coming up tomorrow,
I believe right Friday, you'll have another one Friday.
Speaker 14 (01:38:03):
If tomorrow's Friday, then yes, I've lost track of day.
Tomorrow is Friday. I'll be there tomorrow morning.
Speaker 1 (01:38:08):
You're the best. You can also watch them a lot
of nights on Inside College Basketball as well in the
CBS Sports Network. Thank you, sir. We'll talk to you
next week.
Speaker 5 (01:38:14):
Ah hi, brother, I'll see you.
Speaker 1 (01:38:15):
Gary Parrish will come back. Check text line next night
A three point three KJFM. Get used to the new
softy music.
Speaker 4 (01:38:34):
I'm just gonna say the same thing. Get used to it.
I'm not sure, man, I feel like I should be
writing in revorseback.
Speaker 1 (01:38:39):
Kind of like like a Yellowstone guy or something that. Yeah,
the music thing is an issue. Jeffs was just playing
a bunch of things where we got to change our
text music as well.
Speaker 4 (01:38:49):
Now, how about a little poka? Do you have any
poka polka?
Speaker 1 (01:38:52):
Do you have some polka in there?
Speaker 8 (01:38:53):
Jo?
Speaker 9 (01:38:54):
Yeah, Andrews might be able to grab some, but there's
definitely some in this library.
Speaker 1 (01:39:00):
Anyway, The reason is is that that there's certain music
this licensed and not can we podcast and put stuff?
I don't know if you guys know this. There's a
brand new iHeartRadio app and you get all the podcasts
on there. Yes, And so when you want to go
back and listen to stuff like Softy yelling at somebody
on his pot on his show, it's got to be
the music has to be licensed so we can hear
(01:39:21):
all of the yelling unlicensed.
Speaker 4 (01:39:23):
I'm sorry, I don't even care anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:39:25):
To be honest with you, you don't.
Speaker 15 (01:39:28):
I got a new uh, a new plan for the
rest of my life. Just do it until somebody yells
at you.
Speaker 1 (01:39:33):
Whatever ask ask for forgiveness, not permission, sir? Is that
sayingophy give a damn?
Speaker 4 (01:39:40):
You're not to give a damn. You're not that old,
you're not to quit too old to give a damn?
Speaker 1 (01:39:46):
Bab You know what, I will tell you this. The
the two of us, Softy in myself, we were both
getting older. We're also both confused. He texted me a
question today now the button. Now, I gotta tell you
this because the funny thing is I texted just the
same thing.
Speaker 4 (01:39:59):
Did you really like the right text you were before.
Speaker 1 (01:40:02):
Two weeks ago? Oh really, because we changed medical plans
and changed some stuff.
Speaker 15 (01:40:06):
Here, that's what you're talking about. And now you're talking
about the the tweet, I sing.
Speaker 1 (01:40:10):
It, no, no, no, I'll get no. I'm even knowing
that one. No, and like something like, what's our dental
card look like? And I go, I go, yeah, I go,
it's this one. It's the one that I gave when
I was going to physical therapy. And they said, no,
it's your dental card. I go, it's something new medical card.
Speaker 11 (01:40:25):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
And then I asked, Jess, what does it look like?
And yeah, so we're just all confused.
Speaker 6 (01:40:29):
Here.
Speaker 4 (01:40:29):
Is that the dentist this morning?
Speaker 15 (01:40:30):
And I didn't know if I had the right card,
and I thought maybe I threw away the right card
and kept the old card.
Speaker 4 (01:40:35):
Yeah, texted, is this the right card? Are we doing
this right?
Speaker 15 (01:40:39):
And the guy out the dentist office is having issues
with the insurance, which surprised the price.
Speaker 1 (01:40:43):
Right whatever, that's a stunning development.
Speaker 15 (01:40:44):
You gotta call this person. Haven't called that person. Get
put on hold with that person. This country, you get
rerided through that country. Yeah, I had to this solar
system over to that solar system, give your blood work,
give your social Security number, your passport.
Speaker 4 (01:40:58):
And then call I Hearten get put on hold by
them for four weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:41:01):
That's pretty much it.
Speaker 15 (01:41:02):
I was like, am I using the wrong card? He's like, yeah,
so you got to help me out? Well, and you
know I was using the right.
Speaker 1 (01:41:07):
Card, you were using the right card. I can't wait
till I tell my wife that I had to direct
you to the right card because she thinks I'm in
the idiot and we'll be surprised by that. So, yeah,
I help Softy today with insurance. She's like, you don't
even know what you're doing yourself, So I might.
Speaker 4 (01:41:19):
Can tell Tammy. For as dumb as you are, I'm
even dumber.
Speaker 3 (01:41:23):
I can produce your insurance cards too.
Speaker 6 (01:41:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:41:25):
Well, and then, as it turns out, I thought I
had to order insurance card. We actually have had them
a whole time.
Speaker 4 (01:41:31):
Yeah, so they sent them to you.
Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
Yeah, but I actually do do. I actually went on
worked in and ordered new ones. So we're gonna have
multiple cards.
Speaker 15 (01:41:37):
You got to have a freaking degree and like, uh oh,
understanding insurance plans when you log onto this stuff, Yeah,
I got it.
Speaker 4 (01:41:44):
Takes you four weeks to figure it all out.
Speaker 1 (01:41:46):
Or or you marry somebody that can do it for you.
That's what I did.
Speaker 15 (01:41:51):
That's actually it's actually cheaper for us for us to
be on separate insurance companies.
Speaker 4 (01:41:55):
To be honest with you, Yeah, we're the same way
the way it's all worked out. So I got to
do it myself. Well, it's like I can't figure out
my own insurance. Why would I help you?
Speaker 1 (01:42:03):
The bes thing is you're not your own The best
part about that, it is, why would I help you?
Speaker 6 (01:42:08):
Help you?
Speaker 4 (01:42:09):
You get sick, You get sick.
Speaker 15 (01:42:10):
Good luck, pal, Oh my gosh, there you doing bad.
Speaker 4 (01:42:18):
No, I don't touch my stuff.
Speaker 15 (01:42:19):
I told you a million times. All right, Frands to
use it anyway? Get your flight, Canadian fingers off?
Speaker 4 (01:42:25):
Where is the.
Speaker 1 (01:42:28):
Where's the Jessamine one that we were looking for? The
bird one? The bird one's the best one.
Speaker 4 (01:42:34):
Let the master do it.
Speaker 9 (01:42:38):
The population was decimated due to the over excessive use
of D d T and the pesticides that were going
on the farms.
Speaker 3 (01:42:43):
And then it got into the fish.
Speaker 4 (01:42:46):
Just how it just abruptly ends. And then the fish
one that's the cut o. The way I ended, the
way I ended.
Speaker 1 (01:42:58):
There it is right there. Here you go do it
one time on this for the p I. Mike, Yeah,
a lot a lot of people have that reaction around
our deal my new favorite drive.
Speaker 7 (01:43:12):
I mean, it's disgusting, gross, embarrassing, and it makes you
want to go the toilet and throw up.
Speaker 1 (01:43:17):
Boy, that thing is gonna be fans. You can use
that for so much like that is awesome.
Speaker 4 (01:43:22):
That is awesome that that would describe a lot of things.
By the way, thanks Jim Radio Station. How would you
get our intro?
Speaker 1 (01:43:28):
How would it be again?
Speaker 4 (01:43:30):
This one?
Speaker 7 (01:43:30):
I mean, it's disgusting, gross, embarrassing, and it makes you
want to go the toilet and throw up.
Speaker 4 (01:43:36):
All right on that every day from three on that note.
Speaker 1 (01:43:38):
What's coming up?
Speaker 4 (01:43:40):
Let's see, uh, Ross Tucker is going to join us today.
Oh okay, but.
Speaker 15 (01:43:44):
The Ross Tucker Podcast talk some super Bowl, some conference
championship reaction, do with Fun with Audio.
Speaker 4 (01:43:50):

Speaker 15 (01:43:56):

Speaker 6 (01:44:08):
Six pm tonight?
Speaker 1 (01:44:09):
Is mister Holmgan with you today?
Speaker 15 (01:44:10):
Yes, he is at four o'clock. Okay, all right, I
forgot about him future? How did you forget about the future?
Speaker 1 (01:44:15):
Hall of Famer?
Speaker 6 (01:44:16):
He's not anything.
Speaker 1 (01:44:17):
He really isn't. Once he gets in, we don't even
are we gonna cast him aside once he's in.
Speaker 4 (01:44:21):
Probably yeah, what if he doesn't get in, you know,
I'm got to get fired right Oh god, if he
doesn't get in, you.
Speaker 1 (01:44:30):
Know he's listening right.
Speaker 4 (01:44:30):
Now, there's no chance he's listening, zero chance he's no.
Speaker 15 (01:44:34):
No, you know what I called him last week at
this exact visue time. He's like hello, because he startled
me yesterday. He started he startled me yesterday. He looked
across at me, he says, you know you were talking
about this earlier today, And I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:44:45):
Like, oh, standard line is it here? No, he doesn't
hear anything. It isn't even how to work his radio
on his car. How could he tune into us?
Speaker 1 (01:44:55):
Gotta hope forget about it. Jess is writing all this
down and texting him right now. That's what Softy just said.
That's what said. Alright, I'll talk to you for the
mild mannered and marginally objectionable Inverness. This is paddle day,
saying so long everyone,
