Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time to take a deep dive into all things

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Well, listen, we have a short show today. We're early
on until three o'clock. But with the week that this
is in the National Football League Free agency week, legal
tampering for a couple of days, actual free agent signings,
trades that made, trades that didn't go through. What's going
on with the Seattle Seahawks. You're defending Super Bowl champion

(00:48):
Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Anders.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Is there any way in this world that I could
have gone without having my man Corbin Smith on this week?

Speaker 4 (00:55):
Absolutely not. He's the guy that reports it for Emerald
City Spectrum. You can find a bunch of his content there,
all of the stuff, all the news signings, what does
it mean?

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I love?

Speaker 5 (01:05):
You know?

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Kind of reading everything he has to offer, because it's
you can't get it anywhere else.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Emerald City Spectrum dot com. Go subscribe if you haven't yet.
What the hell is your problem? All right, hello Corbyn?
How are you good?

Speaker 3 (01:16):
How are you? I'm good?

Speaker 2 (01:18):
All right, We've got news. I didn't do an update
because we're so late, but headlines were brought to by
Frostbury course light. Chuos chill, here's your update. I guess
the biggest news today for the Seahawks. I'm gonna go
kind of twofold here, Corbyn, if I can one. Rashad
White was a possible target for Seattle. He signs with
the Washington Commanders, but the Seahawks, according to Ian Rappaport,

(01:40):
maybe others. Now, the Seahawks apparently have agreed to terms
with Emmanuel Wilson, the running back from Green Bay. He
was Josh Jacob's backup last season. He had one hundred
yard game against Minnesota. He had an eighty two yard
game on just fourteen carries against Chicago. Showed kind of
flashes a little bit during the year for few running backs,

(02:00):
so they just pick him up. So what are we thinking.
Let's start with the running back position and we'll just
kind of go full all the way around Corbyn. You
lose Kenny Walker, we kind of expected that. We talked
about that last week. Maybe you lose out on some
other opportunities of guys you get and now you get
Emmanuel Wilson along with Kenny McIntosh coming off an injury.

(02:21):
You've got Zach Charbonay coming off an injury at some point,
Jacardia right coming off an injury, who actually I liked
last year. Then you know, when I think about that
in the preseason, you got George Hallani. So that's what
it kind of looks like right now. So let's start
corbin Seahawks free agency with the running back position and
where they are right now.

Speaker 6 (02:41):
Yeah, you know, I know a lot of fans have
been frustrated because there's been so many names that flew
off the board, like Tyler Algier on day one of
the tampering period going to the Cardinals in the NFC West.
He's the name that i'd heard the Seahawks were very
interested in. There's been a few other names, like you
mentioned Rashaan White going off the board today to the Commanders.
So I think fans have been really frustrated because they're like,

(03:04):
when are we going to get a replacement for ken Walker?
The third look, you were not going to get somebody
that's going to replace his skill set on the free
agent market, Like there just wasn't unless he were going
to go get Etn and he signed for almost the
same amount as ken Walker did to go to New Orleans.
So the options just simply were not out there in
terms of finding a player like that.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
So the Seahawks were pivoting to.

Speaker 6 (03:26):
One year deals and they were looking at guys that
they could bring in kind of his stop gaps. And
Emmanuel Wilson is an intriguing one because he's gonna fill
the Zach Charbaday role. He's a two hundred and twenty
six pound punishing runner between the tackles. He's got experience
playing in an zone heavy scheme, so he understands that aspect.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
But he he is a.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Punishing runner, downhill, goal line type of guy that you
could use in short yardage situations. When he got his
chances last year, he played really well. You mentioned that
one hundred plus game and get to Minnesota. He scored
twice in that game. So he's gonna be looking for
a little bit more of an expanded role, and Seattle's
gonna be able to provide that for him. But I

(04:10):
think this is more about having a guy that can
help with those short yarded situations and and give you
some of that physicality that you're gonna be missing until
Sharboney gets back from his injury.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Okay, I'm gonna go I'm gonna come back to what
they have in a minute, corpor Smith joining a centralte spectrum.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Let me go back to.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Now what they don't have the Super Bowl MVP and
they let him go again. Kind of assumed that that
was going to happen Corbin in a lot of ways.
But now that the dust has settled and we see
what Seattle spent, what they didn't spend, what what Walker got,
what you know, et cetera, the market around the league.
Do you agree with the decision to let him go.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
I do.

Speaker 6 (04:49):
I think almost fifteen million dollars per year on a
three year deals, it's just with the other need that
they had the other players to sign. Quite frankly, I
think Rashid Shaheed seventeen million is a better value because
you're getting a guy that's it's outside of the top
twenty five for highest paid receivers. We know his kicking

(05:09):
punt returnability. You're gonna be counting on him having another
offseason with Sam Darnold. Two mean, how many plays did
they have in the second half the season that we're
just inches away from being big plays. I think you
get that figured out this offseason and Shaheed becomes a
much more potent part of your offense to go with
his special teams contributions. I just think in today's NFL,

(05:32):
especially in this style offense the Seahawks are running flurry
scheme is gonna be very similar to what Clint Kubiak ran.
This guy is the prototype that you're looking for that
can run the football, you can get in the ball
on quick screens, he can create, he can win downfield.
He can return the kicks and punts that you're looking
for as well as anybody in the NFL. So I

(05:52):
think that was really what the decision was. Do we
want to pay the running back or are we going
to pay the all around weapon and the outside that
we think still has so much more that he can
offer to our offense as a receiver. I think in
the end they made the right decision there.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah, I think That's what came down to as well,
is they were going to take You're going to have
one of those two guys. And you know, when you
look at what Rashid shi He does, I think you
said it very well, like you're not just getting a
wide receiver, You're not just getting a kick returner. And
obviously there's a lot of guys in the league that
do do both. They are return men and they are
receivers or maybe a return guy and a running back

(06:28):
what have you. The level in which he does it, it's
a different level. I think that though I use the
word yesterday Corbin de Terrence. You're a former school teacher.
You probably taught that in class at some point. It's
it's cold war type thing, like listen, what we're not
going to do this because of the threat that this
would happen.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
I e.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Rams are not going to kick to the Seahawks, Rashid
shi Heed for on a kickoff because we're too concerned
that instead of going to the thirty five, it might
go to the house. And that's worth something like that
is worth something, and I you know, I mean, you
know there's Devin Hester's and guys like that in the woe,
But not many guys have that ability and have that threat.
I think that's I think you're paying for deterrence as

(07:05):
well as just the receiver and the kick guy.

Speaker 6 (07:09):
Yeah, and also the approach that defenses have. Like even
if he didn't have the production, he didn't get to
two hundred receiving yards in the nine regular season games
that he played for the Seahawks, but the impact that
his presence had on how you can defend Jackson Smith
and Jigga and oh, by the way, they're gonna have
Tory Horton back. We're gonna finally get to see those

(07:30):
two together. You've still got Cooper Cup to me that,
I know a lot of fans out there were saying
I'd rather have the running back in this case, But
I just I think you pay the receiver that changes
the way that defenses play.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
You opens things.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
Up for Jasn and oh, by the way, I think
he's gonna be much more productive himself this next year too.
I you know, if the price was like twenty million
or twenty one million, I'd probably go in running back,
but close seventeen million, I'm taking the guy that can
do more and offers offers special teams ability. That to
me was the right decision here.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Yeah, I would agree Cornas Smith joining us all right,
I mean I like I wish Walker was back.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
I love the guy. I love watching him run.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
I thought, just finally we've got to see what he's
all about at times, especially when he wasn't sharing carries anymore.
But you know, the NFL is a a it's a
league about budgets, and you got to you know, it's
it's what word does it fit on your line item?

Speaker 7 (08:22):
Right?

Speaker 2 (08:22):
And that's and that's kind of where it is. So
let's go back to the running back group as a
whole itself and and go through that. So we meant
Manuel Wilson, who you talked about Halani, who I know
you like a lot. I think we've seen what he
is and he's serviceable in some ways, but he's not
going to ever be probably a lead back necessarily. Macintosh
has always been a guy that's intrigued me and injuries

(08:44):
and opportunities and what have you never been there? If
he's healthy, maybe there is something this this year. I
want to throw another name at you, JACRTI. You're Wright
who was kind of like one of those guys that
stands out in training camp, preseason, that type of thing
goes on the practice squad, got her, they put him
on practice squad. I are is there anything with him?
Do you think any? Is there any upside to him?

Speaker 6 (09:07):
There is, I mean it all depends on We don't
ever find out what injury is on practice squad art
they don't have to disclose any of that, so I
don't know. I have no idea what injury he had
that Basically, maybe he didn't play the rest of the year,
but he had five carries for twenty yards and that
blowout went over the Saints. We got to see him
play in that game. That he didn't play again the
rest of the year. He was on the practice squad

(09:28):
injury reserve. But he's almost two hundred and thirty pounds
and I saw some.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Chris Carson in his game in the preseason.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
I don't think he's I don't think he's as explosive,
but he runs with the same gait and power, and
you got to see the soft hands out of the
backfield too. He caught a lot of passes in college,
so he's got some traits there to be a three
down guy. So to me, he's the wild card to

(09:55):
watch in this group. But I can tell you we've
talked about this before. The Seahawks really like George Hallane.
And that's not saying that they think he's gonna be
the number one back. But Mike McDonald loves this kid.
Clink Kubiak's not here anymore, but Klinick Kubiak was trying
to find ways to get him into the first half
of games in the middle of the season. That's how
much he liked George Hallane. I think Brian Flurry is

(10:17):
gonna like him a lot. This is gonna be interesting
how it impacts what they do in the draft, because
if you have Kenny McIntosh back healthy, he played well
two years ago when he finally got some chances. He's
more of a shifty back that has the ability to
breaks and tackles. All three of those guys, with Wilson
now added in, have different styles. Jacarti Wright mixed in there.

(10:39):
I mean, it's not like this is a Baron cabinet.
There are some intriguing pieces there, but is there a
guy that is truly a number one?

Speaker 5 (10:47):
That's where the draft comes into play, and if.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
The right guy's there, you take him and then things
get really interesting for how this backfield ends up shaking out.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
But they have options. That's really the most important thing here.
Cornus Smith, Henilsey Spectrum joining us. You know we're gonna
start our weeklies back up with your friend and mine,
Rob Rang in two weeks time. We have March Madness
next week, so we won't do it tomorrow, but in
a couple of weeks we will, I know, just with
texting with him today and you talk to him, you

(11:17):
guys do the podcast together with Rob. It's interesting because
there's one running back who's got kind of that first
round grade. We all know it's Jeremiah Love from Notre Dame.
But talking to Rob, there's a lot of running backs
that fit into the category of John Schneider, like second
third day two type of guys, maybe even later round

(11:38):
guys that they're going to be around, that you know,
aren't gonna cost you a high draft pick, or maybe
it will cost you a second round pick. It feels
like wheelhouse time for John Schneider in terms of going
after running back in the draft.

Speaker 6 (11:51):
I think that it's wheelhouse time for John Schneider in general.
With what they've done in free agency. They the guys
that they lost, you know, corner, safety, running back, edge,
running back. I don't think as near as deep this year,
but those other three positions are right at the top
in terms of depth and talent in this draft class.
So John Schneider let the guys go that he felt like,

(12:14):
I've got the best chance to go find a capable
replacement in the draft. Even with four picks, he's gonna
make more than that. We know that he's gonna make
more selections than four. But they they have set themselves
up nicely now to hey, we know what areas we
need to address. This is a deep draft class for
these positions. We can go out and get the guys

(12:35):
that we want to fill these voids. And running back
certainly can say that too. With guys like Mike Washington
Junior from Arkansas, who I think is probably a second
rounder early third rounder, He's certainly guide it to keep
an eye on. Emma Johnson from Nebraska is another player
that I think would be a really fun fit in
this offense.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
Probably goes on Day two.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
There's a number of names you're gonna look at there
in the second and third round, and even on Day
three there might be some guys, But I think the
Seahawks have positioned themselves where they can really fill whatever.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
Gaps they have.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
I mean, I know they've lost guys Ian, but like,
I don't know that I've seen a team retain their
core the way that Seattle has in free agency here, Well,
he's done a fantastic job with that.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Well, I think that's an important point because you lose
the MVP and that jumps off the page. You lose
Wollan and Bryant, that kind of jumps off the page.
Two guys that you know. Wollan's a polarizing guy at times,
great at times, drow people nuts. Kobe Bryant really solid
player for you, Mafey, the underlying numbers from MAFE, my
understanding is is they were way better than the MAFE numbers.

(13:42):
As a wholly had two sacks last season. But there's
you know, win the win rate and some of the
things look good. But with what they do in terms
of their pass rush, especially the focus for the middle,
probably feel okay. You know, I think what the end
result is that they lose one starter on offense from
the Super Bowl team, and they lose one Like I'd
say if I'm gonna combine Mafey and Woolen. Right, they

(14:05):
lose two starters on defense, right, you know, I mean
that's kind of what you end up losing, am I missing?

Speaker 6 (14:10):
Well, all ten of the guys that had seven hundred
and more snaps on offense are back, and eleven of
the thirteen that had seven hundred more snaps on defense
are back.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
I mean, it's not you're gonna lose a few guys.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
But I think John Schneider, mean I wrote about an
animal City spectrum today, like the way that they are
maintaining their core with you know, guys like Brady Russell
and Jake Bobo, Like those might not be splashy signings Brandon.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
Peelee, but like those are important players.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
Those are guys that are important to you winning the
super Bowl, and you're not breaking the bank to keep them.
I just I think Schneider's done a masterful job keeping
the core. You knew you were gonna lose a few guys,
but they've navigated it.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
They were able to keep a couple of their big
free agents as well.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
I think Josh Joe my understanding, he was always the
one that they were gonna pick Overreak Wollant even if
it was the same price point, they were gonna to
pick Josh Joke.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
So they have had things play out.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
I think the best they could have as a defending
champion when you get the Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
Tax that you get to deal with.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
By the way, that is Corvin Smith's story called Seahawks
locking up restricted free Agency Maintaining Championship Corp. You can
read that at Emerald City Spectrum Emeral Cityspectrum dot com.
Is I have Anders has and others. Okay, let me
before I let you go. They did. I mentioned that
Emmanuel Wilson move today. They also signed a safety today.
According to Tom PELISERA Rodney Thomas the second What do

(15:30):
we know about him?

Speaker 5 (15:32):
So he's been on Seattle's radar for a long time.
They actually had him for a top thirty visit in.

Speaker 6 (15:37):
Twenty twenty two coming out of Yale, so we know
he's a really smart dude coming from Yale. Six' to two,
athletic had a forty one inch vertical jump coming out
Of yale at his pro day low four five. Forty
he actually started his first two years In india's first.
Year his rookie year was really. Good had four, interceptions
passer rating of sixty two.

Speaker 5 (15:58):
Point nine in, coverage and then.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
His second season had some issues with tackling and he
gave up a lot of big plays twenty one yards per.
Reception lost his starting job after, that but he's been
a pretty good special teams player the last few. Years
his tackling has been a lot. Better that seemed like
an anomaly that year for whatever, reason but he's only twenty.
Seven mike McDonald has identified, him along With John, schneider

(16:23):
as somebody that they.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
LIKE i Trust mike McDonald's judgment on that.

Speaker 6 (16:26):
FRONT i think he can be a really, fun maybe
De Anthony bell type guy that they're bringing in here
that's got a little more athletic.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Upside so how would you sum it all? Up decent,
week good? Week how was the week for The.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
SEAHAWKS i think it was an excellent.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
Week and that's not putting on you, know blue and
green glasses just being a home or whatever like THAT'S
i just think from an analysis, standpoint AS i, mentioned they.

Speaker 5 (16:53):
Kept most of their.

Speaker 6 (16:54):
Core the guys they lost were PEOPLE i expected to
lose for the most, part AND i still got money
to play. WITH i still would not be shocked if
they're calling around and seeing if there might be a
trade or two out there they can look into as.
Well So John schneider is going to be aggressive. There
they're gonna be aggressive now in the second and third.
Tier this is always where he makes his bread and.

Speaker 2 (17:16):

Betrayal Season 5

Betrayal Season 5

Saskia Inwood woke up one morning, knowing her life would never be the same. The night before, she learned the unimaginable – that the husband she knew in the light of day was a different person after dark. This season unpacks Saskia’s discovery of her husband’s secret life and her fight to bring him to justice. Along the way, we expose a crime that is just coming to light. This is also a story about the myth of the “perfect victim:” who gets believed, who gets doubted, and why. We follow Saskia as she works to reclaim her body, her voice, and her life.
