Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't know about you. I just happy to have
it back. Last night I got home from the cracking
game in time to get the second inning or so
on TV. And after that huge Kracking win, we'll do
a daily power to Play one forty five. Today we
had we had like a I mentioned this the other day.
We're major league market guys. And what I mean by
that is we've got it all. We're gonna have the
(00:20):
NBA back. We have the NFL, we have Major League Baseball,
we have the NHL on various channels. Last night we
had the local hockey team, the local baseball team. Luckily
they didn't really kind of although you know, their pregame
stuff kind of cut into our award winning post game show.
But that's okay. But and then we had March Madness on.
I mean, it was a crazy, fun night. If you're
a sports fan, it's all great. Andrews. Before I get
(00:43):
to Gary, I want to ask you this, because I
know they're talking about Mark and Mark express frustration trying
to find the game last night and wasn't on the
right tier for Infinity and what have you. There is
a different world we're living in now for you. I
want to ask Jess because she wasn't home and she
does everything illegally.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Anyway, I was there in person, so you can ask
me about that.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
No, I'm I'm saying, I'm not asking about the television part, okay,
because you were there, and again, you do things illegally.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
So the it's a gray area.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
We'll get into. We'll get into what some of you
guys do someday.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
That's great.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Like if you walk into the store and grab a
steak and walk out, is that stealing.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Gray area?
Speaker 1 (01:24):
It's a gray area anyway anyway, But I do want
to check out one of those boxes you have, so
let's get to that in a second. Let me get Andrews,
was how you did it last year? You're you're the
young guy, you're the streamer stream mad.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
How was it better than last year for me? A
because it's cheaper because last year they only had the
twenty dollars a month offer, so you couldn't pay you
about the whole year, and I did and that's six months,
that's one hundred and twenty dollars versus this year they offered, hey,
one hundred bucks the whole season, so I did that.
It's also not on the Root Sports stream app so
which you know on some smart.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
TVs or some place that was a disaster. It was
a disaster.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
I mean you could tell it was just patched together,
bare bones at the last second, trying to get a
streaming option for people that wanted to buy it. And
this year it's it's all under the MLB umbrella, like
it or not. It's it's more streamlined. It's you have
a bigger infrastructure able to handle it. I thought the
production was good. You had the hour long pregame with
Brad Adam, so I.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Think that's just the one time only.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Yeah, I think so most of the time there'll be
thirty minutes.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Yeah, but thirty thirty for home. I don't think they're
doing much of a pregame for really.
Speaker 6 (02:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, but it's it's real quick before we get to
go ahead and give Gary call. I thought it was easy.
Here's a thing. People want everything for free. And I
was just joking with Jess like like literally, like it
would be nice if stuff was free, right, It'd be
greative stuff was free, And I think in some sports
it needs to be. I think the NHL when the
(02:48):
Craken went free over the air, or if you have Prime.
It's on Prime Video, which everyone has Prime. I just
ordered something on Prime, just went through that nightmare with
me a minute ago. I'll try and talk about something
else anyway. The I think the NHL, Major League Baseball MLS,
for example, and if we want to include the PWHL and
WSL what have you. I think they need to do
as much as you can and make it easily accessible
(03:11):
as often as possible. There are revenue streams you gotta hit.
I get that, and that comes into play. But I
think I think people will figure it out. I think
people have figured it out. I do have a bunch
of people that were, you know, texting me going hey,
how do I get this? What do you do? And
I said, well, I mean I don't know what do
you Well? I got, I got X Y or Z.
I said, well, then you got to subscribe, right if
(03:31):
you have Inxfinity, it's part of the sports package, which
has always been just on a different channel. And now
I've got that channel on a favorite deal and away
we go. It's not that hard, but I get My
only frustration would be this. I don't like the fact
that and I think a lot of people and maybe
just us old guys. I don't love the fact that
National that Apple tonight, Peacock on Sunday. I can live
(03:54):
with ESPN on Sunday Peacock. Different deal. I hate Peacock,
but I think that's just the ENDFL has forced it
down our throats. Big Ten has forced Peacock down our
throats and now major League Baseball. But that's a smart
move by Peacock because they're trying to grow a business,
so it makes sense. I get what they're trying to do. Anyway,
(04:15):
So three networks this weekend. You know what it is.
It's the price of being good surprise, It's the price
of being a good base It's it's the price of
being a good baseball team. And I'm an idiot. I
don't care. I'll buy. I already have Apple, thank god.
So I got a new phone and it came with that,
and but Peacock, I got a check and see if
I have it. If not, I'm gonna do it because
(04:35):
I know the kid and I are gonna watch the games.
Not Chris Kid, my kid, because that's oh no, he's
going to the game. Mhmm. I'll be a different challenge
because the wife will ask me if the baseball season's
over yet, so I turned on the third game of
the year. No, I'll just have my daughter come over.
She'll be fine. We'll do that, all right. Let's get
to it. Mark's Badness, Gary Parrish want right.
Speaker 7 (04:55):
Now, It's time for our weekly look at college basketball
with be a sports Insider, Gary Parrish. Brought to you
by No Lie Brewing, the family owned, fully independent brewery,
born and raised in Spokane. From the brew house to
your house. Everyone's invited. Look for No Lie in your
local grocery stores. Now with Gary Parrish, here's the in forness.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Gary Parrish joins us. We last spoke a week and
a half ago on the eve of the start of
March Badness and the NCAA tournament. And here we are.
We have already half of our Elite eight field, the
other half determined tonight. There have been one or two
things that have happened along the way, Gary Parrish, in
this terbtil last ten days or so. How are you,
(05:39):
my friend? So there he is, Hi, Gary? How are you?
I'm doing okay? How are you I'm good? Are you
tired yet? Are you worn out? Are you beat up?
How you feeling?
Speaker 8 (05:50):
I mean I'm all of those things, but I'm also
like sitting in a nice hotel I getting ready to
talk on TV, so I try not to complain. I
did have a bok mech book tragedy last night when
a diet diet coke exploded in my computer bag and
wiped out of MacBook Air. So I've spent time at
the Apple store today here near Central Park. Happened to
(06:11):
pass Paul Skeene's girlfriend, Libby Done on sixth Avenue, so
that was exciting. So yes, I'm tired and beating up
and out like fifteen hundred dollars on her computer, but
a relatively speaking, I'm doing all right.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
I wonder how Libby's doing that. For Paul Skeen's appearance yesterday,
that wasn't good, right.
Speaker 8 (06:29):
I didn't ask. She looked like if I were guessing
she was on her way to a business meeting. She
was walking pretty briskly, so I just left her alone.
But I do hope her boyfriend finds a centerfielder who
can catch or at least battle the sun a little
better than what happened yesterday at City Field.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
I'm not sure why you have a short stop playing
center field, but that's the problem for them. That's not
a U and me problem right now. And she probably
she was walking fast. She says, Oh god, there's gp.
I got to get the hell out of here right now.
I'm on my way. Oh god, I'm out here. All right.
We got a million things to get to let me.
Let me start with this. Florida getting knocked out in
the round of thirty two, big surprise. But what's the
(07:05):
thing that's jumped out at you? What has been the
overriding theme or maybe just the biggest surprise so far
for Gary Perry.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
I think the overriding theme is that for the second
straight year in this tournament, there were no traditional mid
majors that made it to the second weekend. Last season,
the lowest ranked, the lowest seeded team to make it
to the Sweet sixteen was John Caliperry's Arkansas Razorbacks. This season,
the lowest seeded team to make it to the Sweet
(07:32):
sixteen was the University of Texas. So after one year
of this, people were like, Hey, it's just one year,
but that's pretty clear that the gap between the haves
and have nots has divided so so much that it
is very difficult for that for the second straight year,
the lowest seeded team to make it to sleep sixteen
(07:54):
is an SEC team. And so when SEC's teams are
your Cinderellas, you've lost something in the bracket. And I
don't think it's hard to explain. After one year of this,
people are like, it's just one year of this, But
after two it just sort of illustrates that there's a
big divide between the has and has not and the
years of a Davidson or George Mason or Loyola Chicago
(08:15):
or VCU going on a run Butler out of the
Horizon League a school like that going on a run
deep into the bracket is I think incredibly unlikely now
relative to what it once was, given that the high
major programs aren't just taking the best high school players anymore,
which is what they've always done, They are now also
taking the best min major players every single year. So
(08:38):
I think we've talked about this before. The Steph Curry
story might be unique because of who his parents were
and everything else, but just focus on that basketball player,
not necessarily his family. If that basketball player went to
Davidson because he couldn't get high major offers in the
year twenty twenty six and then did what that basketball
player did in his first year at Davidson. The second year,
the year that Steph took it all the way to
(09:00):
the Elite eight, that would not happen.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
Now.
Speaker 8 (09:03):
That player will transfer to Duke or North Carolina or
some other power school for like two point two million
dollars and he would help a power conference team go
to the Elite eight instead of.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
A mid major go to the Elite eight.
Speaker 6 (09:14):
So two years in a row.
Speaker 8 (09:15):
I don't think it's a coincidence. The Cinderella aspect of
the incident of a tournament, it's gone and perhaps forever.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Is we're still gonna What I'm gonna guess is Cinderella
being a team that goes fairly deep like Sweet sixteen,
Elite eight. We're still going to have the odd high
point game, right, We're still gonna have that every now
and then. But it's the it's it's can that team
win more than one game? Is kind of what you're.
Speaker 8 (09:38):
Saying, Yeah, I think they can win one. You know,
it's a forty minute game where a lot of stuff
can happen. But at this point you're asking the high
points and the Siennas and the teams like that. To
beat two teams in a row that probably have rosters
that cost i mean twelve thirteen in some cases million
more dollars per year. There's a chance that the team
(09:59):
you're trying to beat in the round of thirty two
to go to the Sweet sixteen for the first time
in program history, that team from a power conference just
bought the two best players from your conference the previous year,
and so you're just up against it in a way
that they didn't used to be up against it. Like
mid major players used to kind of just stay where
they were at often because they didn't want to have
to sit out a year to transfer, and they couldn't
(10:21):
legally make two billion dollars transferring and playing immediately.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
But now you can.
Speaker 8 (10:25):
You can go very quickly from I'm just a mid
major player at a whatever school too.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
I'm making way.
Speaker 8 (10:31):
More money right now than my parents ever made in
their lives. That's a real thing happening all over the
country at the high major level, and the managers are
paying the price.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Gary Parris joining's courtesy at No. Lie Bruint. Gary, Who's
a bigger disappointment Florida or Houston.
Speaker 8 (10:48):
For me, it's Houston, and it's not because I necessarily
think Houston was the better team because Florida was the
one seed. Florida was the outright sec champ. Florida, you know,
is a team that was expected to maybe go to
the Final four, and so that's disappointing. Sure, But when
you're Houston and it opens up for you the way
(11:09):
that it did, to let it slip past you is
like probably never get that opportunity back again. In other words,
if you just look at the past two years at Houston,
this is the type of stuff that you know, Kelvin
Sampson might just be able to wrap his arms around
his family and focus on all the good and never
let the little stuff in basketball bother him. But knowing him,
this is going to eat at him fast. I mean,
(11:31):
rewind rather to last April. He's got a team in
the National championship game with a double digit lead in
the second half. His team happens to be the best
defensive team in the country. If I just told you
any basketball game where the quote best defensive team in
the country has a quote double digit lead in the
second half, you assume they knocked that out but Houston
didn't knock it out. They lost. Florida wins the national title.
(11:54):
So then you come back this year, you bring three
starters from that team. You add two five star prospects,
both of whom are going to be top twenty picks
the region based on just you know, coincidence, it happened
to be in Houston. So it's set up for you
to maybe be able to play Sweet six elite game.
But one you're the two, so you still got an
obstacle in front of you. Then Iowa takes care of
(12:17):
the one seed that's Florida for you. So now you're
headed back home to Houston. You started from the team
that played in last year, who might be a top
five pick, and you don't have to go through Florida.
You have to get through Illinois and as we know
now Iowa. You've got to get through that to go
back to the final four. And they just got they
couldn't score in the second half and it got from them.
(12:39):
And I just think that's the type of thing where
if you're Kelvin Sampson, you look back and you've had
an incredible has two years. You let a national championship
game slip away, and you let a home court advantage
in a regional final where you were the highest seeded
team left, you let that slip away too. That's that's frough.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
We'll we'll talk to Gary next time and we'll have
a final four. But before we get to that, we
do have a couple of games I want to hit
on tonight, Michigan Alabama. Is Alabama getting some help tonight?
Speaker 8 (13:12):
It doesn't sound like it, Aiden Holloway, And I know
what you're referencing was granted a I don't know if
it's a waiver, but whatever you have to be granted.
I'm not up to date on my felony terminology. Whatever
you have to get to be able to leave the
state when you were facing felony charges for more than
two pounds of marijuana. Aiden Holloway did get that today, reportedly,
(13:32):
but Alabama has released a statement that suggests there's been
no change in his status, and he looks it is
out on the status report, So I think maybe one
thing might not be connected to there, But that doesn't
necessarily mean things couldn't change if Alabama were to win.
(13:53):
But at this point, I'm assuming his college career at
least at Alabama. This season is probably done.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
We've got two ones tonight Duke and Saint John's Michigan Alabama.
We also have two two's U cause A two taking
on number three Michigan State, Iowa States of two taking
on Tennessee. Where the upsets gonna happen tonight or are there?
Do you see all those higher seeds moving on as
are an upset to be had? Gary?
Speaker 8 (14:17):
There will be an upset somewhere. That's just the nature
of the tournament. We had two upsets last night and
then two double digit Martin keep an eye on at
Duke Saint John's game. Like listen, Duke's favorite by six
and a half points. They're the one seed, number one
overall seed in this bracket. They had the bread or
roster when completely healthy. But Patrick Goungba this will just
be his third game back from injury, and Okleb Foster
(14:40):
has been upgraded to questionable and is expected to play.
He was just you know, having foot surgery less than
three weeks ago. And this is a rushback, even by
their own acknowledgment. Now, want to be clear, I don't
mean they're rushing it back in any sort of dangerous way.
They had trainers, they have a medical staff. If they've
cleared him to play, they feel like it's like they
(15:02):
gets safe to do that. But it defies logic to
think he's going to be bouncing around the way he
would normally bounce around, moving the way he normally moves,
and playing as many minutes as he would normally play.
I don't think any of that would be true. I'll
be surprised if it is. So. Meantime, this is a
Saint John's team that absolutely got off to a tough
start this season. But they are twenty one and one
(15:22):
in their past twenty two games, with two wins over Yukon,
and so some of that record is because the Big
East presented no outside of Yukon, you know, for the
most part. But some of it is because they got awesome.
They're really good now, twenty one to one, tough with
a Hall of Fame coach. I'm not necessarily like predicting it,
not encouraging anybody to bet it, but I could certainly
(15:44):
see where Rick Patino and Saint John's eliminates Duke from
this bracket and moves on to just one game away
from the final four.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Final thing not just based on what happened last night,
But overall, is Arizona been the most impressive team so far?
I think so.
Speaker 8 (15:58):
I mean what they did last night was historically unprecedented
in a lot of ways. First, they had six different
players score fourteen points in an NCAA tournament game. I
would not have guessed this is true, but it is.
That had never happened before. They shot sixty four percent
from the field in a sweet sixteen win. That had
not happened in more than twenty years. So it's interesting.
(16:19):
Tommy Lloyd, who you guys are familiar with, longtime assistant
two decades at Gonzaga, is not using a modernized style
of basketball. They took eight three pointers last night in
a forty minute game. You know, we watched Alabama last
week take forty two in a forty minute game. And
so early in the season, even if Arizona was undefeated,
(16:41):
people would look at that, and I mean even let
back people other coaches and say it's really good, really talented.
But ultimately, you can't play that way. It's twenty twenty six.
You got a math problem. Never forget about what percentage
you make. You've got to somewhere else. You just in
the right way. You're not keeping the floor spaced all
of that stuff. He said, Okay, well, that's well. He
(17:02):
has built a monster of an offense. They just absolutely
destroyed Arkansas last night. And the truth is, with few
exceptions here or there, they've done that to pretty much
everybody else sees. And I love this about college basketball,
the variety in styles. You can play fast, you can
play slow, you can shoot threes you cannot take them,
and there's a path to success. In the NBA, they
(17:23):
wouldn't even let you play this way. Like if your
front office got the idea that you were trying to play,
you know, through bigs and inside the arc and only
take eight bree a game, they would say, no, no, no, no, no.
We have a lot of data on this that suggests
we can't win like this, but in college it can
still work, and it is and if Arizona wins the
whole thing at this point, there should be nothing surprising
(17:44):
about it despite the unusual style of play.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
We will be watching tonight CBS Sports Network post game
with Gary Parrish I on college basketball as well the podcast.
Go check it out and we'll talk to you next
week when we have and we'll be on the eve
of a final four Gary, Thank you. You guys are awesome.

(19:24):
and Grill. Great food, I would say, try the pub salad. Yes,
phenomenal salad as well. Is Danny with us?
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Not yet?
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Not yet?
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Okay, wait, we're really we're flying along today with this stuff,
all right, not great, crushing it. We are just crushing
it today. Super okay. Well, let me know when Danny's
on the phone and we will touch base with him
and get some He wrote an interesting story. I want
to touch on him with the sonics we even get
into this, although I don't think it's an issue, but
(19:57):
I guess some writer in Oklahoma City he made some
comments about, you know, Seattle's got to apologize we were
mean to Oklahoma City, or some nonsense about get so
to get our quote history back, and that's not what
the agreement says there, Fellas. So I don't know who
you are, but and I ain't apologize. There is nobody
in Seattle that needs to apologize to Oklahoma City. Now listen,
(20:20):
it's very vague when we're talking about apologizing to a city.
But we don't like you guys, and we don't like
the Thunder and we never will. We don't like Howard Schultz.
The other laughable thing, I just saw somebody's doing a
story on Howard Schultz leaving the state of Washington. He
could have left there a long time. He kind of
did leave a long time ago. He's just down making
a public But that's neither here nor there. When the
(20:45):
team is awarded to Seattle, whether it's in July or
before the end of the year, it's going to be
called the Sonics. We're going to have their history and
a way we go. Danny O'Neil joins us down on
the Beacon Plumbing hotline. Hello, Danny, how are you well?
Speaker 6 (20:58):
Let me help set the mood a little bit.
Speaker 10 (20:59):
I'm sure right next to Carnegie Hall, uh huh, fifty
seventh Avenue and seventh and I'm in a tuxedo right now?
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Yeah, well wait, why why?
Speaker 2 (21:08):
What?
Speaker 1 (21:08):
What are we going here? My wife must have something
going on.
Speaker 10 (21:11):
We've got a we've got a big fancy formal evening tonight,
dinner at the Russian Tea Room, then going to a
little bit of a murcit or Phantom of the Opera,
so very very fancy, as you can tell.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
And uh yeah yeah, so hopefully that brightens a little mood.
And we've got a little black tie guest here.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
I just I want to picture you in that black tie,
to be honest with you, sir, That's what I want
to see. All right, let's get let's let's hammer some
stuff out. First of all, you wrote about this what
the hell is Oklahoma? Who's this guy in Oklahoma se
says that we owe them on apology? Who is this dude?
Speaker 10 (21:40):
Well, somebody who's really really soft. And what I do
like to say is that if if if I rooted
for a team and someone else was really angry about
the way that we had acquired that team and the
team I.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Rooted for one championship, yes.
Speaker 10 (21:58):
I can absolutely guarantee that I would I would not
be asking for an apology.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
I would be rubbing their noses in the.
Speaker 6 (22:05):
Fact that we had just won the title.
Speaker 10 (22:06):
So I'm actually appreciative that Clemente or whatever his name
is is not a is not a better fan, and
he just wants us to apologize because we were so
mean to them.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
My god, yeah, no, wishing bad things upon them. I
guess that's being mean. And they end up winning a
title anyway. It took seventeen years, but they won it
despite that. You think about this out that team, what
a disaster it must be, because yeah, you won your
title last year, small market and all that, but you
had a team at one point that had James Harden,
(22:40):
Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka, all in their prime
and you didn't and you didn't win that.
Speaker 10 (22:50):
Three future MVPs, and that translated to no titles.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Do you is that's hard to do?
Speaker 6 (22:57):
Yes, it is.
Speaker 10 (22:58):
It's a tremendous place to resources. Is the return if
and when the Sonics come back, Is it going to
dilute your hatred of Oklahoma City?
Speaker 6 (23:06):
Because I don't think it is for me. I actually
think it.
Speaker 10 (23:08):
Might sharpen it because now I've got someone to root against,
like specifically to cause them. It's not just the general
mayhem that I want perpetrated upon them. I want very
pointedly Seattle also to beat him.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
I think Danny that my easy answer is no, I'll
still hate him, uh sports hate him. Yeah, one hundred percent.
I think it's good because it's it's an instant rival,
at least for the fans here. It will be now
players and everything else that takes that takes, like stuff
like playoff series and things like that. Doc, there's an
emergency vehicles coming by, Danny, be careful, I would say,
(23:41):
because you know, here's the thing. Our our rivals in
Seattle for the Sonics for all those years at the
top of the list, honestly were the Utah Jazz stalk
to them alone. Yes, And and I don't include the
Lakers because of Lake. Everyone. You know, everyone's chanted beat La.
I mean when I was in Salt Lake they chanted that.
When I was in Portland they chatted that, and obviously
(24:02):
here too, So it's not the Lakers. It was the
best rivalry I think the Sonics ever had. And if
we don't want to include the back to back years
against an Eastern Conference Washington Bullets team they played in
the finals, it was Stockton Malone, Jerry Sloan and the
Jazz period and a story. And they're going to be
probably awful for a while. Our team will be probably
bad for a while too. So we need a natural
(24:24):
rival and let's go. Let's let's make it be that
that Oklahoma City team.
Speaker 6 (24:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (24:28):
I think that that is that is true, And that's
actually one of the really cool things about the NBA
is that rivalries do change and evall maybe similar similar to.
Speaker 6 (24:37):
The NFL, but I would actually say.
Speaker 10 (24:39):
In the NBA, you have it cycles through where for
a couple of years you might have a really intense
rivalry with the team and then it kind of transfers on.
But we've got a pretty built in natural and I
could I could see players getting into the fact that
the city they play in really hates Oklahoma City.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Oh yeah, them enjoying that, Oh yeah, for sure. And
I mean look over the years, like what were the
rivals for the Sonics. I mean, over the last twenty
years they were there. Portland was weird because it never
was to me the rivalry it should have been, you know,
like it just never quite was. Now, there were times
when X and the late great Jerome Cursey felt like
(25:17):
they wanted to throw hands every time they played, right.
I mean, there were those games, but it never really
reached the level it should have for a team three
hour south. We never had it with the Vancouver Grizzlies
Denver maybe a little bit only because you know, for
a while when they was Doug Mo and that group
and they were putting up a thousand points, they were
a good team. But obviously Matambo, but I think it
(25:37):
was kind of Phoenix really right with Charles and company.
But I think Utah was the rival. But now I
think it'll be Oklahoma City and we're not apologizing and
you can pounce hand.
Speaker 10 (25:48):
Yeah, that was the funniest part. Like what who do
you think would offer the apology? Like if you were
going to apologize to him, Like when would the logistics
of that work, because we wouldn't make Nate McMillan do that.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
It would be it would be Bob Ferguson. It would
be Bob Ferguson. He's he's because you just said the
word that I think of when I think of he's soft,
and he's kind of a weasel, and he's a former
classmate of mine, and I think he's just all those things.
And then some So, yeah, it would be that little
little soft governor named Bob Ferguson, and he's like, I
(26:23):
want to reach out an olive branch to Oklahoma City
and the great state of Oklahoma. MO blah blah blah. Yeah,
that'd be him. I don't know if the current mayor
knows what the NBA is, but so I would just say,
I would say it would be Bob, and we would
hate him even more for it than we do for
the income tax, to be honest with you. So, yeah,
that's that's what it would be. That's what would be.
Speaker 10 (26:44):
Yeah, the idea that they can bargain with the history
or that that's even something they would want to keep.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
I feel like that.
Speaker 10 (26:51):
We was talking to somebody this week and they were
explaining to me that Tommy Tumberville has won a national
championship and I was like, what what are you talking about?
Speaker 6 (26:58):
No, he didn't.
Speaker 10 (26:59):
They're like, yeahtually, two thousand and four, they ended up
getting it because the USC vacated.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
I'm like, that's not a national championship.
Speaker 10 (27:05):
I don't I don't care what the record, but like
we know what happened, and that's the way I feel
about the Sonics history, the whole, Like, are we going
to give us access to it?
Speaker 6 (27:13):
Access to what man we lived it?
Speaker 8 (27:15):
Like, I'm not.
Speaker 10 (27:17):
The idea that like what are you going to keep
the squatches pell hostage? Yeah, like, okay, go nuts, buddy.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
We know we could do They could have a press
conference and have Gary there and everyone gathers and Gary,
we want you to apologize to Oklahoma City and just
let's just see how that goes. Let's just see how
that goes.
Speaker 10 (27:39):
That would be fair to have to say, I'd like
tell Gary beforehand, Gary, just say what you feel like,
don't don't hold back, just say just say what you
feel for once in your life, we're telling you to
grab a microphone and say exactly what's coming through your mind,
exactly the way.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
It goes through your mind. And if we really want
to be entertained, we could say we could have Jim
Moore there and he could be the guy that says, Gary,
we want you to apologize to Oklama City.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
You have toothpaste.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Can we do that and make sure he's up up close?
For Gary could take that swing you want to do
years ago and actually take the swing. Let's just do
that then, we're all entertained, and we can move on.
And then we can hang twenty and forty up in
the rafters at Climate Pledgerita and we move on with life.
That's what we can do. I'll just do that real
fast for Let go listen. It's the Danie O'Neil Cup
(28:26):
next week. Your friends the Yankees are in town. Manners
have four with the Guardians before that. How we feel
about our baseball team? We bullish? Are we excited?
Speaker 8 (28:36):
Yeah, I'm definitely excited.
Speaker 10 (28:37):
You watched last night and we're all going to overreact
to the first game, but yeah, one hundred percent. See
seeing Brendan Donovan get out there and Kit Homer in
his first at bat. I do think the lineup is
going to have more contact this year, but a game
where you have four solo home runs like that's it.
It felt somewhat similar to last year. But no, I'm
(28:59):
very optim mystic and excited about the team that they
put out there and what we're going to see, and
I fully expect them to be a team that contends
and is in that conversation with the Yankees, I don't
think they need to prove themselves or anything. But look,
that's this is We've all seen seasons where things can
go a little sideways, So I think we're all going
(29:20):
to be holding our breath until we see them get
to be on a bit of a role. But I
feel good about the team they put out there.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Yeah, I mean they gave up a bunch of solo
home runs and then Ramirez hit a big hit, a
big double whatever. I mean, it just that stuff happens.
But I thought that. I thought abs was interesting, cal
not using it when he probably should have. But it's
like it's going to be I think Ryan Roland Smithson
on the broadcast last night, it's true. It's like, well,
there's like a live and learn, like we're not really
sure like how these things are going to work, because
that could have been a pivotal play if you would
(29:46):
have said, no, I want to check that because those
called strike was out of the zone and what was
it the eighth inning, But no, listen, it's one of ones.
They're not going to go one hundred and sixty two
and oh now that's all we know. That's the only
thing we can glean from last night outside of that.
Go get them tonight, Danny. First of all, big thanks
for friend Eric Gordon at Northwest Hanling System for bringing
Danny O'Neil each and every Friday. Northwest Handling system says
everything from forklifts to pala racks, conveyors, a loading dock equipment.

Sometimes emergency vehicles intervene and we.
Speaker 6 (30:25):
Adjust for that.
Speaker 10 (30:26):
But you go to Danny O'Neill dot com. We just
did a little bit of a redesign on the website.
It's got some fancy pictures. You enter your email and
I periodically send you emails, usually a couple of week
and maybe they make you laugh. Sometimes they make fun
of people or rant about Oklahoma City.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Uh. And don't worry, he's not gonna respond to you tonight, though, folks,
because he's in a black tie. He's going to a big,
big deal. He's a big deal tonight. He's gotta be
a gotta.
Speaker 10 (30:49):
Gotta go get myself some borsh from the Russian Tea room.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
He's a he is, he is a he is basically
tonight he has a trophy husband. So he's a trophy husband.
What do you think of this? I'm the participation trophy
as you are, you are, and she and and listen.
At least you accept that and know that that's fine.
That's all. It's all good. It's perfect, it's perfect. I'll
(31:12):
talk to you. Assume, buddy, take care, Thank you, h
as daddy O'Neil, take quick break. We'll do a quickdaily
power play after Big Women last night by the Kraken
in Tampa Bay. We'll do that ahead of Rob Rang
talking NFL Draft top of the hour. You're coming to
crack a numbers And.
Speaker 7 (31:40):
This is the daily power play on your home for
the Kracking Sports Radio ninety three point three k j
r f M. The daily power play is brought to
you by Saka Logs din't ventori of Camonda Equipment.
Speaker 1 (32:01):

Speaker 7 (32:04):
Well, your daily look at the National Hockey League again

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Daily power playing your hope for the Crack at night
three point three KJFM. And again we are at so
caual Me Casino and hotel and sports book today, hanging
out with the hawks Peak sports bar and grill, cracking
off tonight. Next up tomorrow, it'd be at two o'clock
pre game, two thirty, drop of the puck. That's right,
weird start time. I don't know quite what the NHL
(32:32):
is doing. They're having these East Coast games, a whole
bunch of them start at five. I'd say they're trying
to avoid March madness, but they're kind of going head
to head with it. Anyway, two o'clock tomorrow, ANYWAO two o'clock,
two thirty pre game, So tune in at two pm
for Mike Benton and two thirty here at KJR. They
drop a pick. Big win last night, knocked off Tampa.
(32:53):
They're really good at hockey, and Seattle knocked them off
last night. Arguably the best team in the NHL would
be Tampa. The most talented, probably.
Speaker 4 (33:02):
Yeah, probably my Cup contender favorite right now.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
I would say so, better goaltending than But here's a
funny thing. The teams that we're talking about in terms
of outside of the Western Conference, which is Colorado is
just an absolute wagon and Dallas isn't too far behind.
In Minnesota, the top teams in the East, Tampa, Bay Carolina,
and Buffalo all with ninety six points. Well Tampa last night,
(33:26):
Buffalo tomorrow afternoon. Yay. Good news is Sabers play to night.
They play in Detroit, so they got a back to back,
so maybe that'll help see out a little bit. Huge
win last night though Brandon Montour two goals. Bobby McMahon
continues to score goals. That's a good thing. I don't know.
Sign him, Sign him right now. Don't even let it
hit the market. God, he just he plays a heavy game.
(33:49):
He's perfect with Coppole Cocko up front. Too big forwards
that can score like that. I don't know. Sign him. Please,
I beg of you, Jason Vondrel, sign him. He was
great last night. Berkeley Catton had his first fight in
the NHL about the NHL they're best.
Speaker 6 (34:07):
Do it.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Stand up for my captain. He's gonna stand up for
his captain who took a cheap shot and everly got
hit from behind. Was a cheap shot, and Berkeley Catton
decided he's gonna go. He's gonna get some retribution again.
The problem was he grabbed the wrong guy. But you
know what, doesn't matter. It was. It was all about
the intent. It was all about the intent to do that.
So anyway, big game tomorrow. There are three point time
(34:28):
of a playoff spot, but they do have a game
in hand on Nashville that holds down that final playoff spot.
So winning percentage is big.
Speaker 11 (34:33):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Nashville lost last night, Thank you very much, New Jersey.
So yeah, let's do some watching. Two more games on
the road tonight or tomorrow against Buffalo, Tuesday against Edmonton
and Edmonton, and then back home for a massive game
against the Utah Mammoth on Sorry Carvin punt next Thursday
as well. So away we go. That is your daily
power play, brought to you by our good friends at
(34:56):
the Kawa Honda called Boda Again. We're at the still
Qualm Casino, Hotel, sportsbook, casino sales closest thirty minutes from downtown.
Place is awesome, Hawk's Peak sports Bar and girl andres.
You know what I got up on the TV right
now because they got everything we got? The New York Yankees. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
the Yankees taking on the San Francisco Giants. I hate
(35:20):
both those teams really well.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
Why would I like?
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Why would I like anything from the Bay Area.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Yeah, true.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
And number two it's the Yankees. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the Yankees.
So yeah, watching that game right now.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Who are coming to town? So, San Francisco, take Au.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
We might, we might, if things work out in a
lot of different levels, we might on Monday have a
special guest.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
I hope he gets back to me.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
We well, I'm not even worried about that. Hold you wrong, allright,
Rob Rang is going to join us. We need to
re immerse ourselves back into the world of the NFL draft.
Rob Rang right to my frosp coming up next.

the NHL season. Next up Buffalo tomorrow in Buffalo against
the Sabers two o'clock pre game two thirty face off
(36:31):
here at nine three point three KTERFM. Speaking of broadcast,
got March Madness resuming tonight with the Sweet sixteen coming up,
that is at about four fifteen four thirty coming up
today with us here on kJ R. Interesting story and
little bit scary story coming out of Florida right now,
and that would be that Tiger Woods has been involved
(36:52):
in a rollover crash. The extensive injuries unknown to all
those involved, is something we are definitely keeping an eye
on right now. Four n four five one. That is
the Tacoma Dodge text line. We'll check text coming to
the bottom of the R four nine four to five one.
In the meantime, guess who's here. Let's talks at NFL Draft.
We're just three weeks away. Here's Rob Rang.
Speaker 7 (37:14):
As part of our never ending coverage of the NFL.
It's time for Ian's weekly visit with Rob Rang from
Foxsports dot Com, brought to you by Farelli's Pizza on
your Home for the twelfth Man and the NFL Sports
Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
All right, welcome back in here on a Friday afternoon

is back for Elli's Pizza brings you Rob Rang for
atleastizza dot com. More on our good friends there in
a moment, But first and foremost, it has been a
minute or two since we last checked in with our
friend Rob Rang. How are you, sir?
Speaker 9 (37:50):
I'm doing very well.
Speaker 11 (37:51):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (37:51):
I'm good. This is we're kind of into it now
here we are. We are at the end of March,
going into April. We are getting closer and closer draft time.
For those that are maybe new to this thing, here's
what we do with Rob in the fall. We talk
college football and previews some of the big games. It
relates to the top draft prospects every Friday. Kind of
a fun thing we've done for a decade and a
(38:12):
half plus. Now is when we get into the nitty
gritty this. Now we start going through position groups and
our insider NFL draft inside of Rob Rang from Fox
sports dot Com. He starts giving us the lowdown on
the guys to look for and how who would fit
with the Seahawks specifically. Kind of an odd year though
this year, Rob, because just the four draft picks and
(38:33):
thirty two in the first round. Instead of going through
like a position group today, let's just kind of revisit
where we are kind of with the roster and what
they've done in the offseason and where they are and
what thirty two would look like and all that. There's
some I know, you dub had their pro day and
all those things. So let's get through it. Let me
first start with this free agency is kind of settled down.
(38:57):
We saw the extension of JSN, for example, but the
Seahawks lose Ken Walker, lose Boy Mafe, lose Kobe Bryant,
but they do retain Rashid Shihed, which was big Josh
Job has retained as well. Just kind of when you
overlook and see what this roster looks like following the
first wave or to a free agency, what are your impressions.
Speaker 11 (39:19):
I think that's been a masterful job, honestly, And I
mean I think that you had to expect if they
were going to lose a bunch of players, because that's
just the Super Bowl tax. You know, everybody is going
to be looking to to pay some of your players
just to so they can promote these new free agent
additions to their respective fan bases and say, see, we
(39:41):
were all in on the Super Bowl push ourselves. We
just got the Super Bowl MVP and Ken Walker. We
just signed the most talented cornerback on their roster in
Tariquo and boy Mafe, Oh my goodness, look at what
explosive athlete he is. Let's get him twenty million dollars
per season. You know, all these things. I think that
Seattle retained the most important player of their free agents.
(40:04):
And uh in Rashid Shihat, I mean, anybody who you
know saw the games that he took over on special
teams and just recognizes how important special teams is to
this franchise. Then, uh that that to me was a massive,
massive deal by the Seahawks to bring him back. You mentioned,
of course, the the extension of Jackson Smith and Jigba
(40:25):
that just kind of paves the way for that. Earlier
in the year, the extension of Charles Cross the left
cackle position. Uh, you know, Abe Lucas previous to that,
you know, go way back there. Of course, I thought
that bringing back Josh Job was an important one as well.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (40:42):
And then certainly again some of the so called you know,
kind of lesser known names that the Jake Bobos of
the world. Uh, you know the long snapper, Yeah, Drake Thomas. Certainly,
I'm a huge move because what a what a spectacular
player he's proven himself to be. So, you know, I frankly,
when once the Super Bowl or what's the super Bowl
(41:04):
was over in the saxt for hosting the Lombardi Trophy,
I thought, Okay, how many of these players are you know,
are you going to lose? The fact that they've retained
as many as they did, I think is means that
this offseason has been a success for them.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
The fact that they retained ten of eleven starters on
offense is really good, Like that's the glass half full.
The only starter they didn't retain, obviously would be Ken
Walker on the starting offense at eleven, and you know,
in Charbonnay being hurt to start the season is obviously
something I kind of feel like. Emmanuel Wilson's a prove
it guy. His contracts has proved So we'll see you
(41:38):
and I will spend a lot more time maybe in
the coming weeks talking about the running back draft class.
I think it feels like and we talked about it
a lot in the fall. I think a lot of times.
We talked about in the fall with thought that Walker,
you know, may walk, you know, be part of the
pun may leave anyway, right, And so we kind of
looked at outside of Jeremiah Love, we looked at a
lot of those guys, which we'll talk about in a second.
(42:00):
Is that really the most glaring need on this roster
is a true number one running back and maybe you
can address that in the draft? Is that Is that
safe to look at it that way?
Speaker 11 (42:11):
I think that it is. I think that it's the
biggest area of concern for the team right now.
Speaker 8 (42:16):
On paper.
Speaker 11 (42:17):
However, I would argue that the single easiest position to
address in any draft, including this one, is it running back.
It's just easier to find those guys. You know, John
Scheider has invested a top fifty selection fifty two, to
be technical, the top fifty selection in a running back
(42:38):
in three of the last eight years, whether it be
Sharp and Ken Walker or of course we're shot Penny
years ago. So that's not uncharted territory for him. And
yet he's also found backs on day three like Chris
Carson for example, on drafteds, ragents like Thomas Rawls for example,
that you know also could carry the load if necessary.
(42:58):
I do think that is the biggest area of concern
for the club. Do you mention Emmanuel Wilson. I'm excited
about Emmanuel Wilson, but at the same time, I'm under no,
you know, illusion that he's not going to necessarily be
that the guy. I think that you have to have
a more dynamic back and I'm a big fan of
George Halawey, have been for a long time. Kenny McIntosh,
(43:19):
you know, the Dayls Jones, whoever you want to mention.
They've got some guys that are legitimate NFL players. I
don't know they have a true standout, but I do
think that there are some candidates in this class, whether
it be number thirty two overall and a slight trade
down Day two, day three. If your offensive line is
good enough, the passing game is good enough, you're going
to have a good running back will be could look
(43:41):
great and if you happen to get a great running back,
but who knows, he could wind up becoming Super Bowl MVP.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
All over again. Rob rang joining us courtesy are good
friends at Forrelli's Felli's Pizza dot Com. Early and late
happy hours at for Elli's pizza al so you'll find
him again this year inside Cheeney Stadium as well. We
love our good friends at Forrelli's Pizza. Forrellispizza dot com,
great pizza, among other things, a terrific tap list as well. Again,
(44:08):
go and check out the happy hour early and late
and happy hour prices available even in the dining room
if you're there with the family. Maybe post a baseball
game or basketball game, whatever it might be for Rellispizza
dot Com. Rob Let's talk about pick thirty two, and
we know over the years we've been lectured on this
from Mike Holmgren, John Schneider and others. Most teams do
(44:31):
not have anywhere close to thirty two players that have
a first round grade on them. So if you pick
thirty two, let's assume when you get to that point,
probably a good chance to whoever the Seahawks will be
looking at they don't have a first round grade on. Also,
based on needs running back, which you just said, you
can find them. We'll get some of those guys as
a week's go on or other needs along the way.
(44:54):
Is this a good year to trade down with that
thirty second pick, especially when you only have four other picks.
Speaker 11 (45:01):
I think it is in a funny way. You know,
as you mentioned obviously that the Seahawks only have four selections,
and so they'd like to add to that total. And
I think that the you know, it's easy to say
they want to trade down, but somebody of course has
to want to trade up. What helps to the Seahawks
cause is that there is such a gap between quarterback
(45:21):
one Fernando Mendoza, who will be the number one overall selection,
and then Alabama's Ty Simpson, the presumptive number two quarterback
in this class. I do believe that ty Simpson is
going to wind up getting into the first round, and
I think it's a very good chance he's going to
wind up going number thirty two overall to a team
that trades up into the late portion of the first round.
(45:43):
To secure that five year rookie deal that the Seahawks
just used so beautifully, and you know, initially creating a
space with Jackson Smith and Jigma as well as Devin
Weatherspoon to be able to kind of hammer out those
long term extensions. It's just kind of reinforcing the value
of that fifth year on a rookie contract under New
(46:03):
York Jets that select number thirty three overall, you might
be able to entice them to give you a middle
round selection to move up to number thirty two, just
move up one spot, but still could get you an
extra draft pick. So I do think that there is
a lot of possibilities, whether again it be a team
at the Jets, it's the own divisional rival of the
(46:24):
Arizona Cardinals, or or a number of other quarterback needy
teams data Pittsburgh Steelers that might be willing to trade
up to number thirty two overall give John Schnodder the
extra draft picks that he is looking for. Because, as
I'm sure you've heard by listening to our time together
or by anybody else, I mean, who you're going to
(46:45):
be selecting number thirty two overall is not appreciably better
than who you might find on the board of fifty
two overall.
Speaker 1 (46:51):
Yeah, I think that's the key, especially in this year's draft.
I didn't think about it. Robert, that's a terrific point.
That fifty year option is really big for a lot
of teams, especially if you see a guy that's I
guess maybe that's where that that you know we're looking
at the grades, and he's not, he's a second round grade.
But boy, if we can steal him at thirty two,
(47:13):
and but we have that extra fifth year whatever position,
that fifty year probably does come into play, and that
probably does make that thirty second pick someone enticing for
teams if they see somebody that they want.
Speaker 11 (47:24):
No question about it. I mean, it is a massive, massive,
uh you know, advantage that that Seattle has that this
particular draft class happens to have some questions a quarterback,
it happens to be pretty rich at some of the
other positional groups that are generally valued by the NFL
wide receivers and edge rushers. I would argue that the
(47:44):
edge rusher and cornerback are two of the biggest positional
needs for the Seahawks at this point in terms of
depth behind running back. And so again, these are strong
positional groups. There might be a player there the Seahawks
like at number thirty two overall so much that you
have to stay and pick him. But if you were
able to entice the Jets, for example, again to move
(48:05):
up one spot and they're going to take the quarterback,
and then you know that that same player is going
to be available to you at a cheaper price and
number thirty three overall. And obviously the Seahawks would like
to have that fifty year rookie option for their top
players too. But at the same time, that's just that
that Super Bowl tax who talked about before, You've got
to do things in a little bit different way. I
think the Seahawks again, are in a really good position
(48:28):
because they do have a general manager and now a
head coach who has already kind of been there, done that,
and knows how to create this type of organization or
the typical organization.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
Rob rang joining us courtesy I for Ellispizza Freliespizza dot com. Uh,
family owned local business located locations throughout the South Sound.
Go check one out for Elliespizza dot Com to find
that location near you. Let's let's kind of revisit the
strengths of this draft. Let's just in not necessarily names,
but just what are the position groups of strength and
(48:59):
I guess when I say strength, especially depth in this draft.
Speaker 11 (49:03):
Rob Yeah, wide receiver, cornerback, edge rusher, offensive tackle. To me,
those are the best groups that are again kind of
more of the premium positions. I like the interior, like noseguard,
some of the bigger body defensive tackles. There's not a
lot of those quick three technique penetrators. There's a couple,
(49:24):
but there are some big noseguard types. And I think,
you know, this year is a little bit better than
the normal. On the flip side, some of the weaker
positions we talked about quarterback, talked about running back. Uh,
those are not as strong as they have been in
the past. That's why this draft class has been and
I've been as guilty of it as anybody and basically
(49:45):
labeling this is not a very good class because it
just lacks some of the you know, the flashy names,
the flashy skill position talent that we come to associate
with high first round selections.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
You know.
Speaker 11 (49:57):
The latest articleb on Fox sports dot com. I I'm
basically comparing Fernando Mendoza again, the presumptive number one overall pick,
you know, and if I was asked to compare him
to quarterbacks of the last several years, he comes in
sixth among the quarterbacks that I've been ranking since twenty
twenty one. That's not what you're expecting of a quarterback
(50:18):
is in go number one overall, and if I put
Ty Simpson on that list, he comes in about twentieth.
So again, it's just not it's lacking a little bit
at the skill position so called skill positions of quarterback
and running back, but at the same time, just about
everywhere else, including into positions the greatest concern for the Seahawks,
especially edge rusher and cornerback. I do think that this
(50:40):
is at least as strong as a typical class.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
Yeah, it's funny you mentioned wide receiver. I think that's
like the one place they don't need help as well,
which also tells me that we'll be sitting there and
stunned when John Schneider with his thirty second pick keeps
it and takes a wide receiver. No, I kid a
sort of kid. I mean, js n Rashichi Head, Cooper Cup,
Jake Bobo, Tore Horton, Ricky White, who I know you
kind of liked last season. All there, Cody White got
(51:05):
resigned as well. I mean, if we include Cody White
in that mix, there's six guys that were roster guys
last year. The wide receiver position is the one that
can probably definitely not even think about using one of
those four or more draft picks.
Speaker 11 (51:20):
On, I take to agree with you. I mean, I'm
a big fan as you mentioned a Ricky White and
Cody Whye I think is a good player. I mean,
that's why I was frankly a little bit surprised at
to see how decided to match the off for Jacksonville
head on Jake Bobo. I love Bobo as much as anybody,
especially what he provides the Seahawks in terms of run blocking.
(51:42):
But I thought the wide receiver was pretty flush already
your talent. And then there is a possibility that like
a local superstar a Denzel Boston happens to be sitting
on the board number thirty two overall, how do you
not select him when you know that he is one
of the best players in his class. He shouldn't follow
that far. He should be a go off the board
about about twenty. But wide receivers had a tendency to
(52:04):
drop sometimes in some of these classes, and so that
that would be the only thing I would say is
that the positional group is so good and a lot
of the receiver every year is going to be good.
He is just it's a It's a positional group that
a lot of the elite athletes at the high school
level gravitate to and they're able to do the tape
to learn how to actually run pro caliber routes, Whereas
(52:28):
it's much more difficult to do that as an offensive lineman,
for example, to learn how to really play at that level.
So I think that every year we're going to see
a rich receiver crop. But I think you can argue
that the Seahawks, with with the receivers that they already
have on their roster, they might just have the best
receiver room in all of the NFL.
Speaker 1 (52:45):
Yeah, it's it's pretty loaded. I guess maybe there's trades,
Draft day trades you come into play with some of
those guys, But I just I'd be hard pressed figure
out which ones they'd want to move at this point
and contract wise and all those things. So before we go,
Rob and we'll get to we'll probably do running back
next week is a class and really kind of go
down that road with you a week from today. Before
I go down that road, let me get to this
(53:06):
Rob rang the You know, as we kind of as
we look around, everyone has some pro day's and local
guys are working out how do the pro days in
our state, our region go?
Speaker 11 (53:17):
Well, I thought Washington especially performed very well some of
their players. You know, we've we've talked about a lot
of the big names. As I mentioned in Denzel Boston
is terrific football player, should be off the board in
the first round. I remain a big fan in Jonah Coleman.
He did not run the forty yard dash, and some
people are questioned that just watched the tape. I mean
(53:39):
he's got thirty seven touchdowns over his career. I mean
the production speaks for itself. Terrific path catcher, terrific path blocker.
I think that he is a sneaky play for the Seahawks.
And about the third round, Tacario Davis, the cornerback looks
like Greek will in Part two.
Speaker 7 (53:54):
So a big fan of his.
Speaker 6 (53:56):
I'll give you a sleeper.
Speaker 11 (53:57):
That I didn't know enough about the University of Washington.
Then at the pro day he was phenomenal, and that's
Antario Thompson. He was listed at six four, three hundred
and ten pounds and he came in closer to two
hundred and eighty pounds. His speed, his lot, his vertical
jump was really through the roof. He on he'll get
himself drafted just based on how we did at the
(54:19):
Pro day workout. Another one, Zach Durfy, has struggled with
injuries and ever since he has brought in from Sue Fall.
But at the same time talking about looking the parts
and having the physical athletic ability that as NFL teams
are looking for. I think those are two guys that
can get drafted on Day three that maybe some Husky
fans wouldn't know that much about except reading a little
(54:41):
bit of the you know, where is this guy kind
of thing, and it's going to wind up getting drafted
ahead of some other players that maybe have more on
the back of the football card, so to speak.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
It's it's a glorious time of the year, buddy, it
is a glorious time of the year. And I yeah,
we're gonna spend more time talking about Johannah Coleman too,
because I'm with you on that one. I think that
there's I mean, this is a cougar speaking too. I
would be more than okay to see Jonah Coleman not
have to leave the Pacific Northwest, you know what it's
all said and done, which would be good.
Speaker 6 (55:12):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
Next week, let's talk running back, shall we? Should we
go down the running back road and see what we
can find.
Speaker 11 (55:19):
I'm looking forward to this great idea.
Speaker 1 (55:21):
All right, that's Rob Rang Fox Sports dot Com go
check the stuff out there. And of course he is
our draft insider. He'll be with us again this year.
Nothing like a Rob Rang firing off on Day three,
some guy the Seahawks pick and we just go who
is this dude, and just like, oh, it's this guy,
this guy, this guy. Oh, okay, that's cool. Chris Carson's
up being a good player. How about that? He called
it back. Then we'll get to all that coming up
(55:42):
during the next month or so. You're the best. Thank you,
my friend, Looking forward to Bud rob Rang. We'll take
a break, cut back, put a rap on things for
the week on nine three point three KFM.
Speaker 9 (55:56):
From the R and R Foundation Specialist broadcast. Now back
to Ian furnesz powered my Seattle closest sports book Snow
call me Casino and Hotel on Sports Radio ninety three
point three kJ R FM.
Speaker 1 (56:13):
Before we get to the text four nine four five one,
that is the unless it's changed. That Tookuma Doadge text
line four nine four five.
Speaker 12 (56:21):
In wall.
Speaker 1 (56:22):
You guys are telling me there's all kinds of changes
going on in the studios right now, so I don't
know what changes are having there.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
So intersection of savings.
Speaker 1 (56:29):
Thank you very much. So before we get to that
in the text, which are some great texts for coming
in today, and before we turn it over get to
Softy here in a few minutes, the Tiger Wood story
has taken another turn, and it's not a good one.
So he has been arrested for driving under the influence
after the rollover accident in Florida. He refused, he took
(56:53):
a breathalyzer, passed it, but they're convinced that he was
in some way inebriated or or you know. So there's
he refused a year analysis which would check obviously for drugs.
But yeah, so he's been arrested. So it sounds like
the path that he has unfortunately gone down before maybe
(57:15):
going down that again. So we'll keep an eye on
that story, all right. By the way, I was getting
the text four nine four five one. I will get
to Jeremy's at the end, so I have that, okay,
But but Jeremy also reminds me when I see that,
I see that, I see I gotta remind everybody we
get them. Mayor Maple Valley Open is coming up on
July tenth. I mentioned that a couple of weeks ago.
(57:37):
Somebody's asked me about the other day. Hey, when do
you get announce it? We announced it a while ago,
but I'm announcing it again July tenth. Will have sign
ups sometime early June, all right, to benefit Lensky's Hope,
Avery Huffman, DIPG Foundation for Childhood Pediatric Brain Tumors, and
the Jordan Morris Foundation again July tenth through Glenn So
stand by for them, all right. A lot of people
(57:57):
out the Bob Ferguson comment got and got some traction
in appears Wow you I would make no your kids.
The governor was a Queen han kid. Enough said no, listen,
I was both. I was a Queen ane kid for
a while. I went to St. Ann's. I went to
Saint Anne's with the esteemed governor of our state. Yeah yeah, yeah.
And someone was asking what was he like? Just look
(58:18):
at him. He looks exactly the same, like he looks
exactly and he was class president.
Speaker 3 (58:25):
Oh so he had going from the start.
Speaker 1 (58:27):
Yes, he was destined to be where he is today,
and that would be well, that's what he is. He is, uh,
somebody asking me his captain of the chess club or debateing.
He's also a Bland check guy, which that automatically puts you.
Speaker 4 (58:44):
In at.
Speaker 1 (58:48):
He is like, not good enough to go to Odey
or Seattle Prep or Kennedy, not good enough to go
to Eastside.
Speaker 4 (58:55):
Calias fire of saying, let's put that.
Speaker 6 (59:00):
Gone.
Speaker 1 (59:01):
Ta Alma, just beat you guys, Tahoma, just beat you guys.
Speaker 4 (59:06):
Hey, anyways, I'll let it go.
Speaker 3 (59:11):
We're looking for it anyway.
Speaker 4 (59:13):
I'm a former Bland shep brave here.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
Come on, I know, I know, but you're not even.
They're not even the braves anymore, you're not. But I
was a brave so they were brave to what are
they now? The bears? The Bland bears? What's Seattle? You
these days?
Speaker 4 (59:26):
Red hawks? I was a red Hawk. I was not
you were?
Speaker 1 (59:29):
Okay? All right, all right, let's see we got all
what what else we got going on here?
Speaker 11 (59:33):
Four?
Speaker 1 (59:33):
Nine, four five? There's all kinds of stuff. Is there
really a marine layer? I mean? Six home runs last night?
Speaker 4 (59:38):
Juice balls?
Speaker 3 (59:39):
Also?
Speaker 1 (59:40):
Is that what it is? The balls are juice?
Speaker 4 (59:42):
I think so.
Speaker 1 (59:44):
My dog can zone is the leading the majors and
home runs.
Speaker 5 (59:46):
Did you look at some of those spring training scores?
Ian they were extreme.
Speaker 1 (59:52):
I avoid spring training.
Speaker 3 (59:54):
The last one I saw was like eleven to seven,
but there was like.
Speaker 4 (59:57):
Some twenty six to eighteen O.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
Yeah, yeah, across the board.
Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Well, the bats too, because there's a legal bat that
has changed the game as well.
Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
The torpedo.
Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
The torpedo, thank you. I couldn't remember the name.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
Oh listen, I see a guy here that's just trolling
Oklahoma City fan took seventeen years. Remind me how many
of the Sonics have. They have one? They have one? Yeah,
and you know what, if that team would have stayed
in Seattle, they have more than one. But everybody wanted
to leave your dump up a town in Oklahoma City.
That's why you guys have just the one.
Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
Katie sold his soul to the Warriors and won two more.
Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
As Danny pointed out, three future Hall of Famers or
a Hall of not on the Hall of Famers MVPs
of the league, and you couldn't win with them in
the court. At the same time. That's almost impossible to do.
Speaker 4 (01:00:43):
You have the best GM and arguably, it's sports and
you won one.
Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
Yeah, yeah, that'd be hopefully the last one. Please got
somebody beat him this year. The Celtics good enough to
beat him, Jefs I.
Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
Think so, yes, Okay, absolutely, somebody watched when I go home,
because I have to watch when we go to a
Mariner game. I have to watch the replay of a
Celtics game when I get home from another game that
I watched live. So yeah, no, Jalen Brown is great,
and they got a couple up and comers that I
very much think.
Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
You're the best chance. They're the best thing about being
a native son here sometimes is that we can make
references to schools and stuff. I'm talking about all the
Catholic schools that do just the guy, the guy his
girlfriend just left the bar across from me.
Speaker 4 (01:01:23):
They're like ording, how about ordering, I'm not in the
same class.
Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Yeah, first of all, you're two. A second of all, yeah,
you know when you want to play the big boys,
Yeah right, Metro, let's go come on here. Yeah yeah,
yeah exactly. But actually they got a great wrestling program
at Orning. Oh really, he's like ordering, he's a wrestling Well,
but I know who has a better program. That would
be my friends at Tahoma with Chris Fights, who's a
great coach. I love Chris. He assistant principal there. They
(01:01:48):
just won their third straight title and uh and they
beat ordering in a matchup of the two best teams
in the state a couple of weeks ago or a
couple of months ago. So yeah, don't try to talk. Listen.
I went to Oday and there's certain things I could
flex on Oday, almost everything Tahoma wrestling and most girls sports,
not the sports. Okay, where are we Friday? I'm drinking
(01:02:12):
diet pepsi too, And.
Speaker 6 (01:02:14):
What are you doing?
Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
You deserve a little you.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
Know, it's just three o'clock, man, three o'clock.
Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
Okay, baby steps three?
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
Yeah, because I gotta get some I guess some wagers
in for the weekend. You know there's a sports book here, right.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Jess Oh, I know the people there.
Speaker 5 (01:02:29):
How are you on the Survivor Poolion, I'm still in
Let's go. I won my game last night.
Speaker 1 (01:02:34):
I got duke though tonight, and after talking to Gary Parrish,
I'm also stressed out.
Speaker 7 (01:02:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
In one of my brat he panted majors, So you
know what that's going to mean what that means when
I jump on the old still Columba casino app here
in a second, we are so ahead. Yeah, we are
definitely gonna hedge. We are. How stupid are multimillionaires? You
(01:02:59):
don't use uber sad to hear tiger Woods? But why
so stupid? Man? I'm gonna say this again the second
I make money like which probably will never happen, but
I'm talking about like I should say it, like I've
I've got two good jobs and I'm very happy with
where we're at. If I ever made like crazy money,
like blank you money, yeah, yeah, I would never drive again.
Yeah I hate driving. Yeah, and not just so I
(01:03:21):
could get hammered, but no, I just hate driving. Yeah,
I want someone. I would love to have a driver
if I had Tiger Woods, wherewith if.
Speaker 5 (01:03:27):
I had half with tiger Woods, that adds so much
like utility to your day, And.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
It's just the stress of driving, right, and I could
do other things in the commute.
Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
I'd have it, like literally an RV that someone drove
me from here and there.
Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
I don't think i'd have that because then I would
lose my wealth pretty quick. You could have a bed
in this state with the gas. Hey, I'm gonna give
you a pro I'm gonna give you a pro tip.
I'n give you a pro tip if my kid, My
kid just did this this week as he came up
here to the sportsbook.
Speaker 4 (01:03:56):
Don't do that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
You go to the market up here, still calling me
casino and uh, gas prices are a little bit easier
to handle than they are at a lot of places.
Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
Okay, oh yes you are that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
He filled up the jeep for about half of what
it costs my wife to fill her jeep up.
Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
So let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
You're gonna you can, and then you swing in through
the sports book and hedge like I'm gonna do it
later on today.
Speaker 5 (01:04:18):
Let's go back to the MLBtv conversation. Here, paid one
far away from the one hundred and forty nine bucks
for MLB TV and still have local games blacked out.
They want me to spend more for Mariners.
Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
To see, that's where the confusion. That's where the that's
where the confusion comes in.
Speaker 5 (01:04:31):
Ready, what it means MLB TV gives you every game
except local games, and then there's a specific package for
just Mariners.
Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
And I think you know, and I think that's what
Kevin and Greg and the crew down at the at
T mobile it. It makes sense for a lot of people,
but not everybody, right, And there are a lot of
people that spent money on that thing and then they
don't find out they don't get the Mariicas correct Or
there's people that spent money on the Mariners package Manners
team haven't found out that they already had it subscribe to.
Speaker 4 (01:05:02):
Yeah, they had it cable or something.
Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
Right, So that was where the confusion comes in. I mean,
here's a good thing. Is we have a baseball team
worth watching?
Speaker 4 (01:05:10):
Correct?
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
Right? Yes, this is year fifty. This will be hard
for people to understand. Not all fifty years, all previous
forty nine I've been worth watching.
Speaker 5 (01:05:19):
Yeah, Okay, if you're if you're a recent Mariner fan,
you won't You wouldn't understand that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
What's the equivalent of a twelve since twelve for the Mariners?
Speaker 4 (01:05:31):
True the blue since twenty two? There you go, literally
just thought that, you.
Speaker 1 (01:05:36):
Know what through the blue twenty two?
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
Yeah, yeah, that was the first thing that made the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
So you know what you haven't heard in a long time,
is the is the twelve since twelve?
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Yeah, like all that that's a whole new Yeah, because
they want a championship.
Speaker 5 (01:05:53):
Yeah, I hate like Jackson mentioned it on Friday, I
hate gay King. Right, if someone wants to be a
new fan, let him be a new fan.
Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
Yes, come on, yeah, I'm with you. Oh Jackson, do
this Jackson to being that guy.
Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
No, no, no, he was kind of preaching what I
just preached, like, don't don't get mad at fans for
coming in that are new, you.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
Know, I like yeah, because you know who doesn't get
mad about that? The teams exactly. They like more fans.
Like if I said to Kevin Martinez or Chuck Arnold
or something, hey, do you think you should cap the
number of fans you have?
Speaker 3 (01:06:21):
Are you?
Speaker 5 (01:06:21):
Are you allowing only people that have been fans since
nineteen seventy seven career games?
Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
Only personally? How about to check your idea? What would
you become a fan? Prove? Prove when you could be
a fan?
Speaker 5 (01:06:31):
Yeah, it's just license quick DSA in Before you get
to Jeremy's text regarding MLB TV, if you have T mobile,
that everyone does. But if you have T Mobile, you
have this week to redeem a free year of MLB TV.
So I have t Mobile, so like I have both
MLB TV through T Mobile, and I also got the
(01:06:52):
Mariner's package so I can watch every baseball game.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
If you get Team Mobile, will you end up having
two great kids? Maybe?
Speaker 4 (01:07:00):
Maybe not?
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
According to Okay, I'm just checking, Okay, all full companies,
Jeremy says, why is there an ad for a dance
party in Miami. I wouldn't go to it here, let
alone there. Jeremy, you're asking a question that we at
the radio station on air producers and host ass all
the time. And it's not just dance parties. It's basketball
in the Philippines, it's many other things. I can't answer
(01:07:22):
your question, Jeremy, but I'm with you. I wouldn't go
to a dance party here, much less Miami. If I
go to Miami, I wouldn't go to a dance party.
Speaker 5 (01:07:30):
And it definitely wouldn't be a sober dance party. In forness,
it's exactly sober dance. It's a morning sober dance party
in Miami. In Miami, I don't know if it's in
I think it's across the country, but I don't know
if there's even one here.
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
I just can't see those three things going together morning.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
I mean, listen, I'm I'm old. So I guess maybe
someday I'll be doing the waltz at you know, at
the Center at at nine am or whatever. Maybe we're
talking about it.
Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
It would be cool to learn the worlds honestly.
Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
Oh lord, Okay, are we done yet?
Speaker 6 (01:08:06):
I think so?
Speaker 1 (01:08:07):
I think Jeremy, thank you for that question. And uh,
it's Dick Fane at iHeartMedia dot com. You can ask
him that question if you have it, well, let me
you know what. Hang on, hang on, I.
Speaker 4 (01:08:18):
Think it is Dick than I think it is Dick Fan.
Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
I thought that Richard Dell was to throw people off
this sense.
Speaker 1 (01:08:23):
Oh no, I don't know. It's Dick Fane. Dick d

Speaker 12 (01:10:07):
J Andrews probably knows this reference. You ever see the
movie Armageddon with Bruce Willis?
Speaker 6 (01:10:12):
Of course I've seen Armageddon.
Speaker 4 (01:10:14):
Oh sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
I love when you get I love when you get
upset when people haven't seen movies.
Speaker 12 (01:10:20):
But I'm to make a movie a reference, and I
thought for sure the one person I could count on
was when cursed. I don't know, twenty years ago, don't
you do?
Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
Don't you do a podcast about movies?
Speaker 6 (01:10:31):
Who's you've seen Armageddon?
Speaker 2 (01:10:33):

Your that are classics.
Speaker 1 (01:10:53):
I love the fact that you saw the Wizard of Oz.

good comparison. I gotta tell you, man.
Speaker 12 (01:10:58):
We were down in Vegas last weekend for the tournament,
which got it feels like a month ago, but it
was just like five days ago we were down there.

Down there? No playing the Wizard of Oz.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):

a movie.

why you'd watch that?

edible and go watch something make sure you're not driving
in Florida like our guy.
