He is our guy. He joins us on Tuesdays and
we big time appreciate our good friends at Northwest Handling Systems. Correct,
that is correct, Thank you for bringing us Joshi in.
Hello Joe, how are you?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
I'm just thinking about that poem? Uh, these are the
saddest of possible words. Hobby bias drives in June.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Is that a poem? Or is that just you?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
It's a really bad at time it was, it was
tak established. The chance is what I was going for there.
I think I follosed in a bit, but that was
not pretty last night. I hope you had something else
to do with your Monday.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
I did.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
I was.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I work for the hockey team here for the Saltle
Crack and NHL team, and so I was doing a
pre intermission and postgame hosting duties on the television network,
that is the KRACK and Hockey Network, and I did glance.
I went down. We had a big client that was here.
Our friends at a Royal Lasik were down in the
KJR suite last night at the Hockey Arena, the Climate
Plage Arena. I wandered down there after our pregame show

(01:31):
before puck drop got there about seven two pm for
a couple of minutes to say hello, meet and great,
shake hands, kiss babies. Looked up at the TV screen
because I had on the Mariner's game on one of
the screens in there, and I saw six nothing Joe,
And I thought to myself, how the hell did that happen?
Like the game started twenty minutes ago, How in the
world did that happen? And found out that Emerson Hancock happened.

(01:52):
I guess along the way. So not good, not good.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
It's this was an issue last year, but Hancock stepped in.
He wasn't as great. He was one to a top prospect.
I want to say he's a six or seven thicket
years back. Yeah, and he hasn't quite hit that level.
And of course with George Kirby out, they don't need
him to be George Kirby. They just you know, don't
be George Jetson, which is what he was last night.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Okay, I'm gonna get to the bat thing in a seconds.
I really want to talk to you about that. I'm
way I'm very behind on that, so I just want
to get your thoughts on that. But just real quick.
I mean, it's, you know, the favorite that everyone's favorite
two words in baseball, it's early. But just looking around baseball,
Boston's one in four, Minnesota's oh and four, Atlanta's oh
to five on the season, those are the ones that

(02:32):
kind of jump off the paves. Milwaukee oh and four
as well. Now we know what the Mets did last year,
started slow, got to the NLCS right when it was
all said and done. But you and I have talked
about this before Every game counts. Is anybody in that
group being concerned right now at all? Any red flat?
I just not how about this? Are the red flags
for any of those teams not that rude necessarily.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
I think that, you know, again, five games is five games,
But you want to talk about beyond the record, some
of the stuff we've seen that you might want to
make served about. I look at the Braves. We know
about the profile suspension yesterday. Obviously that leaves them with
a hole in the lineup. They're already down, Sean Murphy
already down, Ronald the Q, new junior, and Spencer Strider.
Go to the team they ran out there last night.
It was like five major league hitters that you'd recognize.

(03:14):
And then there's Drake Baldwin, a rookie catcher in the
sixth spot, kel Nick, Brian Delacruz, Orlando Arcia. I think
Raphael Ramirez is coming off the bench for them these days.
It's really really ugly in Atlanta. I think that's if
I'm looking at and saying, okay, do I want to
look for signal in this first week the Braves. I
think I gotta be a little nervous.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
About kel Nick. Name sounds familiar. Can't place it. Name
sounds familiar, Yes, because you're okay, yes, kel Nick?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yes, Hey, no, it took me a long time to
get it righty, and I'm with you.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Will the Dodgers go one hundred and sixty two and zero, Uh.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
No, because they don't need to. I mean, they'll I
wrote about the end of the day. I'd love to
see it, guys. I would love to see a team say,
you know, what the heck with preparing for the playoffs.
We want to try to win one hundred and twenty games,
and there's just no motivation for the Dodgers to do that.
You know, Tyler glass Now pitched last night. He's not
going to make thirty two starts. We know that. I mean,
Yamamoto looked good the other day. He's not going to
make thirty two starts. Just not the way the game

(04:09):
has played these days. But obviously we've seen the depth
that they have. You know, Bets, all we heard was,
you know, Mooie Betts lost one hundred and twenty five
pounds and he's at death's door and he shows up
and it's two home runs on Saturday night. They're just
not going to be challenged. I think we'll see them
really go you know, two three months, they'll be unpaced.
They'll they'll play seven hundred ball for a half and

(04:29):
then they'll start thinking about, Okay, what do we want
to look like on October first, because this is what
they did last year, And yeah, the Padres almost caught
them at the end of the year, but they didn't.
The Padres are playing a six month seating round to
get ready for the playoffs, and it worked for them
a year ago.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I was just going to ask you, what are you
thinking if you're in that division? The Padres for those
Dodgers are unbeaten six game Padres are five and zero.
San Francisco's off to a good start. I think they've
played all road games so far. They're three and one.
Seattle sees them later this week on their their home
openers Friday, when the Mariners are there. What are you
thinking if you're in the rest of that division.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
I think you hold on to the fact that you
have thirteen games against the Dodgers and that it had
to head play. Anything can happen. Maybe you all play them,
Maybe you go ten and three, eleven and two against
them head to head and that ends up being the
thing that gives you a shot in the division. On paper,
I hate that term, but the Dodgers are fifteen games
better than everybody else in baseball, and they're seventeen eighteen

(05:23):
games better than the Padres. But it's in the heads.
Head games matter. It's always if the Dodgers win this
division by twenty games. Every year, the Padres had a
chance to tie them. At the end of last season,
they tied with the Rockies a couple of years back.
The Giants actually beat them out for the division in
twenty twenty one. It is possible for the Dodgers to
play to the end the bottom of their range and

(05:44):
the Padres to play the top, or really the Diamondbacks,
So them Backs are the bigger threat. I mean, the
Padres have started out five and oho, they look really good.
But the Diamondbacks to me are clearly the second best
team in that division. So yeah, the dimon Backs go
ten and three against the Dodgers head to head, and
a couple of the things go right, and you have
a division race. Is that likely? I put it at
you know, twenty twenty five percent that this is a
close race.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Joshi enjoyed us Joshian newsletter. All Right, for the casual fan,
or for ian who's the casual fan, tell me I'm
late to the party, tell me about this new bat thing.
What's going on with the torpedo bat?

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Joe So, first batter of the year for the Yankees,
Austin Wells hits a home run with the torpedo bat,
which is a bat. That's the best way I can
describe it. It's shaped a bit like a torpedo or
a bowling pin, where instead of being tapered from the
handle all the way to the top of the bat,
it's tapered to the middle, bulges out at the label,
and then comes back in at the top, and you

(06:36):
can I encourage folks to go online and take a
look onto it. What I'm talking about here. It's att
larger to describe, but Wells, it's a home run, and
everybody's talking about well it's the first catcher to hit
lee off for the Yankees, and it's the first time
the Yankees have had a lead off home run, and
nobody is talking about the bat. The day later, the
Yankees two days later, they hes score twenty runs on
nine homers against the Brewers, and everybody wants to talk

(06:58):
about the bats. Well, frankly, it's not the bats. It's
the Birds. Just pitching staff is not pretty good. But
the bat is an innovation. It is the latest innovation
in to use an awkward term, that technology, which goes
back one hundred and fifty years. You go back, so
you look at early baseball and they were just basically
cutting branches off of trees and hitting with them. And

(07:19):
then they figured out, okay, if we caper them, they're
a little bit easier to hold. And if we put
more weight towards the top of this thing, we can,
you know, get more out of our swings. And if
we make the bat light with a thin handle and
put more even more weight into the barrel, it's more
effective for hitting. So we've been changing the way bats

(07:40):
are designed forever. This is just the latest ian. I'm
not sure if you remember what a big deal the
cups at the top of bats were when we were kids.
Maybe even a little if it was a big deal
when all of a sudden, guys started taking wood from
the very top of the bat so would make the
bat lighter so that they could have more weight in
the barrel itself, you know, sweet spot where you want

(08:02):
to hit. We've seen handle the axe handle was a
big deal a couple of years ago. We've seen guys
with those hockey puck things at the bottom of the bat.
Remember when you Arry Bonds made a lot of noise
for using the maple bat, which is, of course what
everybody remembers about Barry Bonds in the nineteen eight nine.
Of course, yes, that's all people talk about is innovation
with the bat technology. So I guess my position is

(08:23):
this isn't ye score twenty runs and everybody lost their mind.
Ellie de la Cruz had a monster light night last
night using this exact same bat, and people are really
talking about it as much it was the Yankees, and
everybody wants to get on. It's like the deferrals. In fact,
the Dodgers use deferrals and everybody loses their minds. Well,
everybody can use deferrals. The Dodgers aren't exploiting some trick here.

(08:46):
Same thing with the bats. The bats aren't some Yankee
trick they're using because they're the Yankees in the medieval empire.
It's everybody can use these bats, and I think we're
going to see them spread a little bit. But the
idea is, I want to put the weight of the
bat where it can do me the most good, and
that's behind the label. What we would call the barrel.
And if you can take that weight from the top

(09:06):
of the bat where it doesn't do you as much,
to the end of the bat and move it down
a little bit, it makes that contact a little more
effective while not changing the weight of the bat. Alan Nathan,
who's known for his work in the physics of baseball,
has also made the point that it makes the back
feel lighter for the hitter because of the center of
gravity is closer to the Please don't make me defensits

(09:27):
on the air. Look up Alan Nathan on spooseky on
Twitter and need to explain it better than I can.
But the point is it is a more efficient use
of a design of a piece of wood and it's
been going on for one hundred and fifty years. We
freaked out about it over the weekend, but it really
isn't that big a deal. It is like the cuffs,
it is like the axe handles, and is like tapering

(09:49):
the back down to the handle. It is just the
latest way to design a baseball bat that makes it
a more efficient use for pictures and for hitters. And frankly,
isn't it about time we did something for the hitters. Yes,
there are a billion technologies out there helping pitchers be witches.
I'm all in favor of doing something that makes things
a little bit better.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
From Pimpson about twenty five years ago, roughly, I was
working in Salt Lake City and that was where the
original maple bats came from as a company down close
to BYU actually done in Utah County. We went down
there and did a story on it for TV. I
remember hitting those things and it was like just it
was different. I couldn't hit to save my life, you know,

(10:27):
ninth grade last time I played baseball. But I do
remember maple bat was the biggest thing. You know, you
squared up, goes, you know, all these things, and now
it's no big deal. Ax handles actually made here in Seattle.
The original ax handles are all made here in Seattle
for a company down south. So yeah, I mean it's
like there's always something. But I'm with you. If it
makes for better offense, that's all good and fine. All right,

(10:48):
Joe gotta run give me the Joe Shean dot com
spiel because if you're a baseball fan and I want to,
it's free. You can read Joe's thoughts on opening David,
which I thought were just absolutely nails. By the way,
my friend Absolute hammered that. But tell people about Joshian
dot com.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
That piece is still up for you at joshian dot com.
Today is an excerpt from the except for what I

Speaker 2 (11:33):
And I know a lot of our listens have already
subscribed over the last couple of years. Let's get some
more out there as we continue on the baseball season.
We'll talk to you next week. Thanks Joe, Thank you.
There you go, Joshi and Joshian dot com. We're gonna
talk to Palozola. We got We're just more jammed today.
Can almost use a three hour show. Almost see now
see Fellazel will coming up next.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
We're diving into the numbers and the grades around the
NFL with Steve Fellazolo from the thirty third team. Brought
to you by Georgetown Brewing Taproom, open seven days a
week from ten am to eight pm, makers of Many's
Paleo Buddies, up Ipa and the new domestic style Lagger
Tavern Beer. Your place to go for local, tasty Kraft beer.

(12:16):
Now with Ian here Steve Pellazolo.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Steve Palozzolo joined us of course during the regular season,
also during our pre draft lead up. Draft coming up.
It's actually Steve, I should mention this. Happy Draft month
to you, sir. It's it's Draft month in the National
Football League. It is a love April I could feel
it now.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
Happy Draft month to you.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Exactly here we go. A couple of things I want
to hit on draft well, bunch things that we're going
to talk about some defensive backs today. We'll get to
that in a second. I think there is a little
bit of a need for Seattle and we'll go through
that in just a couple of seconds. One thing I
do want to go down the road of it would
be the it we're sitting here with the NFL owners.
Meetings are taking place right now down in Palm Beach, Florida.

(12:58):
NFL owners have I love this tabled for now the
discussion about the Philadelphia Eagles tush push. A bunch of
teams want to do it, but they have tabled it
for now. Where does Steve Polozolo have checked the mic
podcast and of course the thirty thirteen fall in the
debate of the tush push.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
I don't have any of the talking points that either
side has.

Speaker 7 (13:22):
I'm not worried about the injuries, and I'm not worried
about Hey, you know, they mastered this play stop it.
I generally just don't like the fact that you can
push a player or pull a player with the ball.
I just hate that as a concept.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
I just hate it.

Speaker 7 (13:34):
Right like we had all the Bush push stuff and
everything from years ago. It just seems ridiculous to me.
I also think it's already a high percentage play at
a QB sneak and they've mastered it even more. But
like it's already it already should be an eighty five
to ninety percent proposition. You can there's different ways you
could QB sneak without pushing someone. So I'm just not

(13:54):
a fan overall of that concept. So I would if
they exchanged.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Yeah, your kid's not. They don't like it either, No,
I well, I tend to agree though, because I look
at it, you know, football, How is football different than rugby? Like,
let's just if we just want to start there, and
you know rugby is pushing, tugging, pulling a lot of times, right,
That's what it is football, the concept of playing. We
spent last week talking about offensive linemen, right, and the

(14:23):
skill set involved in terms of your footwork and your
steps and polling and doing all the different things. How
does a defense counter that? You're I think it's I don't.
I just don't think it's football. I think it's rugby.
I don't. And that's kind of I tend to fall
on that side of things, Steve.

Speaker 7 (14:39):
I agree, get the get the rugby stuff out. And
again it's like most of the talking points are about
injuries or you know, why are you gonna, you know,
stop the Eagles when they've mastered this play.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
It's more just I don't want any of the rugby
type stuff. Now.

Speaker 7 (14:53):
As my my podcast partner, Sam Watson loves rugby he's
a rugby.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
Guy, so he likes it.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
I don't like them all as much as he does.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Exactly well, and you're right. If you have a quarterback
that's good at the sneak, then that's an advantage for you.
But if you're just pushing and pulling, and yeah, because
you mentioned the Reggie Bush thing, wasn't that Was that
a Notre Dame? Well that was a Notre Dame?

Speaker 6 (15:13):
Was it?

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Lioner and Bush?

Speaker 4 (15:13):
That was?

Speaker 5 (15:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (15:14):
Yeah, one of the best regular season games of all
time USC Notre Dame in two thousand and five, and
it ends on the Bush push TB sneak on Matt Winer.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Yeah, and Reggie Busch pushed him in. Who knew? See
Reggie cheating? He's always cheating, wasn't he? Old Reggie Bush?
Steve Pellos thirty third Team Check the Mike Podcast, So
I was thinking of this. We talked about dbs today
and we right off the gick. Wait a second, we
had Steve on we talked about wide receivers within the
last couple of weeks, and we didn't even bring up

(15:43):
the name Travis Hunter. So let's bring up the name
Travis Hunter, right, now because he is, he'll be one
of the most talked about guys on Day one of
the draft. Day looks like a lot of the consensus
is he's probably the number one, two or three player
involve but he's not a quarterback. And then I guess
the question would be, Steve, what is Travis Hunter in
the NFL?

Speaker 7 (16:04):
Yeah, I mean, I think the easiest answer that I've
always come back to that it's easiest to picture him
as a cornerback who plays receiver, right, I mean, that's
just the best logical football choice. Corners around the field
every play. Receivers can rotate in and out. That's a
more likely scenario. But the more I talk to people
around the league, the more you watch Travis Hunter, I'm
more people love.

Speaker 6 (16:24):
Him as a receiver.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
And it might just be because of this class, because
there's maybe not another clear number one. And you even
hear rumblings from NFL teams that hey, like he's he's
a top receiver and we want him to be that
guy first. So look, I don't think he's gonna play
hundred and fifty snaps a game. I think that what
he did at Colorado was incredible. I would never say
never on any of that because I didn't think he

(16:46):
could do it at Colorado at that level, but he did,
and so I would still say, hey, you want to
make him a corner first, that then mixes in twenty
five thirty snaps a receiver and you it's easier to
do that.

Speaker 6 (16:59):
But I think I think there's so much more to it, right.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
I mean, if he was just a full time receiver,
he could become a full time corner if you need that.
I think teams can make decisions based off their current
depth chart, what they have at corner, what they have
the receiver. They can make a decision year to year
depending on how their depth chart changes. They could change
within the season depending on injuries. I think that's the
type of flexibility that Travis Hunter brings. I think you
could do both play corner, play receiver. I would like

(17:25):
to see a hybrid role where my goal with Hunter
would be to get one and a half players out
of him, a starting corner, half of a receiver, and
I feel like that's a massive win. But I think
there's also this other depth chart flexibility that he brings.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Steve Hellosul the three to Third Team, Check the Mike
Podcast brought to you by our good friends at Georgetown Brewing. Okay,
is Hunter the best cornerback in the class? Is he
better than Will Johnson? The Baron kid from Texas, Harriston
from Kentucky, those types of guy. Is he the best
pure corner in the class.

Speaker 7 (17:55):
This one's tough because I love today Baron. I think
Will Johnson's being left on a little bit. I think
it's easier to say that Hunter is the best receiver
in the class maybe than the best corner. And part
of that is because he played, you know, he played
a lot of zone and that's not a.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Knock on him.

Speaker 7 (18:10):
He is such a good zone corner, eyes on the quarterback,
the ball, skills the field.

Speaker 6 (18:14):
For the game that he has, he's outstanding.

Speaker 7 (18:17):
But because he was playing these hundred and fifty snap games,
there's times where he struggled in man coverage. So I
don't know if he has the same type of flexibility
as some of these other corners.

Speaker 6 (18:26):
That'd be one of maybe the only.

Speaker 7 (18:27):
Knocks for Hunter, and I think some of you he
does have a slight frame that I think shows up
a little bit more at corner than it doesn't receiver.
Where you know, Ted rowand McMillan won some contested catches
over him. Elik aomin Or who we talked about last
week from Stanford or two weeks ago from Stanford.

Speaker 6 (18:44):
He had a great game against Travis Hunter.

Speaker 7 (18:46):
So I would say, you know, Johnson Baron, even maybe
a Chavonne Ravel from East Carolina, maybe they could be
better all around corners or better cornerback prospects than Travis Hunter.
I'd still say I'd be fine with call Hunter, you know,
cornerback one. But I think it's closer at corner maybe
than it is even that receiver.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Well, I think of a corner too. That's I mean
in today's NFL, like maybe more so than as opposed
to college, you've got to be good against the run too, right,
I mean, depending on what your scheme is you got
to play. I mean, I think that's the not It's interesting.
I think Seattle's got two contrasting styles. Reek Wollan not
really good against the run, you know not, Devin Witherspoon

(19:26):
really good against the run, right like, And so then
you know you have a guy coming out of college
the Big twelve, like is he good against the run?
How is this tackling open field? How's he gonna Is
he able to take on a running back in today's NFL?
I think those are the questions because of what you
just said. You look at Travis Hunter, there is a
slight frame there, right, Yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (19:43):
Mean it's it's definitely a bit of a concern.

Speaker 7 (19:44):
You know, he had a big play against I think
it was Baylor, big force fumble at the goal line.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
I mean, he'll stick his nose in there and get
dirty in the run game. He's at least willing. But yeah,
you're absolutely right.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
The NFL does a pretty good job too of scheming up,
you know, running running backs getting one on ones with corners,
as we've seen with three in recent years. So yeah,
you definitely have to be able to tackle in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
All right, Steve Palzilla joint. All right, let's talk about
some of the other guys. Will Johnson out of Michigan.
He's kind of right around number two either here or Baron.
Let's talk about Will Johnson.

Speaker 6 (20:13):
Yeah, he's a really good player all around.

Speaker 7 (20:15):
I mean he he's I think losing some steam this
offseason just because he.

Speaker 6 (20:19):
Hasn't been able to work out.

Speaker 7 (20:20):
I think one of the more fascinating stories in this
draft is Will Johnson. In A couple other corners, Shavone
Ravel from East Carolina Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame, all
got injured pretty early in the season. Those guys were
the consensus top three non Travis Hunter corners back in
the fall. Johnson still expected to go in the top
half of the first round, but little question about his speed.

(20:42):
But I think you know, he's got a really good
feel for the game, good all around player, eyes on
the football, He's excellent at that clicked close all the
cornerback traits that you're looking for.

Speaker 6 (20:50):
Production. Will Johnson really good all around player.

Speaker 7 (20:53):
The only question is coming off the injury and you
didn't get the actual testing numbers for him.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
How'd you pronounce?

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Johanne from Texas, I'm.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Going with Jday.

Speaker 7 (21:05):
I wait Dane Brugler's guide when that comes out. It's
got all the official pronunciations, all pivots to whatever Dane
says in about.

Speaker 6 (21:11):
A week here.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
What about Jday?

Speaker 6 (21:14):
Baron?

Speaker 8 (21:15):
Then?

Speaker 6 (21:17):
Uh so he is. He's just one of my favorite
players in the draft.

Speaker 7 (21:20):
It's kind of like the Brian Branch, you know, you
watch him line up all over the place and make plays.

Speaker 6 (21:25):
He could play outside, he could play in the slot.

Speaker 7 (21:28):
You know, He's one of those guys like if if
Pete was still in Seattle, you might not look at
him as an outside corner because he's got short arms.
He doesn't have that you know, that long outside press frame.
But for certain teams that don't care about that as much,
that will play him in off coverage and play more zone.
I think you have a really versatile defender. I think
Texas would use Baron almost as a linebacker at times

(21:49):
as well. So just a great all round football player.
He's at sixty now on the consensus board. Was not
there during the season. He was more of a second
round type of prospect. But I think once there, everybody
got the film on him, you know, goes through it.
Has a really nice twenty twenty four season. He moved up,
and I think rightfully so. So I think the perception
caught up to what we were seeing on film from Baron,

(22:11):
which is just very, very good.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
All around Steve, We'll get to some of the other
names in a second. I am curious because yeah, there's
only it is what is it? There's three guys and
the consensus boards right now. Hunter Johnson and barn that
are you know, consensus first round picks, you know, three, twelve,
and sixteen in that order. After that everyone drops into
that range of maybe a first rounder but maybe not.

(22:33):
And now we're talking second rounders and day day two guys,
and the drop off pretty significant when you get past
a Darian porter At from Iowa State, who's a consensus
fifty nine. I asked this general question, is the cornerback position?
It is the class this year week or our NFL

(22:54):
team's not prioritizing it in a league that seems to
be going more and more. Maybe I'm wrong, pass happy.

Speaker 7 (23:01):
Yeah, I think there's been a little bit less priority
on the cornerbacks the way teams have been built. You know,
the I always use the endearing term the nerds, the
analytics departments. The nerds have they've suggested they call defensive
back a weaklake system, as in, you're not necessarily as
good as your best guy, you're as good as your worst.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
Guy, right, so you just don't want to have weaknesses there,
and so it's.

Speaker 7 (23:24):
More about spreading the wealth rather than say, overpaying for
one or two guys. I think that's what the data
has generally shown so I think you're seeing the market
being a little bit lower for corner.

Speaker 6 (23:34):
My theory is that you didn't have great players to pay.

Speaker 7 (23:36):
Now you're starting to get that with Derek Stingley and
Patrick Sir Tan and Sauce Gardner coming up. So I
say all that to say, I do believe we saw
this last year. Good corners fell into the second round.
So I think what NFL teams are doing is saying
we got to get our big guys early and then
you could still get pretty good corners late round one
and into round two. And I think that's where this
consensus board is falling into. You also have the injury

(23:57):
concerns that I mentioned. Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame, Shavone
Revel from East Carolina. They played about half a season
not even got injured. Both of those guys were considered
first round picks, and I think that uncertainty has pushed
them down boards.

Speaker 6 (24:10):
Just a little bit. As well.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Let me just throw a couple of names out there,
and you tell me who you're familiar with and who
might be a good Day two, day three pick for
Seattle if they want, because again I'm not sure how
confident they are. I should say they Mike McDonald necessarily
is nreq Woolan. We know they love Witherspoon. He's an
inside outside guy. Depending on the down distance and all
those types of things. Joe might be their number two

(24:34):
guy right now, and they pically picked him up off
the street, so you know that. I can see them
looking for a corner with all those picks they have
in the first couple of days of the draft. Who
do you like like? Is I Alexander from LSU, Noel
Williams from cal Jabar Mohammed from Oregon, Jalen Smith Usc?
Any of those guys jump out at you.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
Yeah, I mean, I know there's fans of all those
guys individually across the lake. Jalen Smith from USC has
some of that inside outside ability.

Speaker 6 (25:01):
I liked Barbara Hammett Muhammad just as an overall player.

Speaker 7 (25:04):
I think he lacked some of the size teams might
be looking for, but he's always in and around the
catch point. Tommy Hill from Nebraska was kind of in
and out that he showed flashes in Nebraska. I think
he had some struggles at the at the Senior Bowl.
Quincy Riley is the name I would add to the mix.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
From Louisville.

Speaker 7 (25:22):
Just a feisty again around the catch point type of
guy that I think is is is pretty solid. And
you know, plus Seattle added a bunch of players last
year that I kind of liked for where they got them.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
You know, they you know Neamiah preach it and you
know they spent a little.

Speaker 7 (25:35):
Bit of draft capital at on DB's you know, late
late in the draft last year. So that's gonna it's
gonna be an interesting mix for Seattle given last year's additions,
and yet it's a it's an intriguing group of say
rounds three through five.

Speaker 6 (25:49):
And where some of those corners could be coming off
the board.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Love it, good stuff, Steve Palozolo Big thanks to Georgetown Burns.
Steve tell us what's on the Check the Mic podcast lately.

Speaker 7 (25:58):
We're going through running back tomorrow. We did our usual
mock draft. Who did a two round mock draft actually,
which was fun because Seattle had the two second rounders,
so that's worth listening to. We let someone else do
the first round, we jumped in did the second round,
had some fun with that, and then we got our
running back rankings tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
Check the Mic wherever you listen to your podcasts or on.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
YouTube see Ken Walker, Zach Sharbonet, Kenny Macintosh. And just
because John Schneider's John Schneider, I think we better listen
to that because more than likely they'll take a running back,
even though there's absolutely zero need for running back Seattle
right now, I think there's some.

Speaker 6 (26:35):
Value there, second round value on the running back.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
All right, my friends, thank you. We'll check in to
make sure you check out the Check the Mike podcast.
We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 6 (26:43):
All right, soun good, thank you.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
That is Steve Pallazolo from the thirty third team Check
the Mic podcast forming with PFF. We love having Steve on,
have done that for a couple of years. Got as Susan.

Speaker 9 (26:54):
He loves himself some s cams kataboo. He really does.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
I'm gonna tell you right now. When I when he
brought up running backs and I thought about asking him
today about running backs, I went, really and then I thought,
this is the same team that went back to back
year second round draft picks in the running back room
with Walker and then Charbonay. McIntosh flashed a little bit

(27:17):
at the end of last season when he finally got
an opportunity to play good. But we don't know what
what Kubiak wants. Necessarily, we know they want to I mean,
like every team not named that wasn't ever coached by
Mike Leach. They want to run the football. We all
know that. But the running, but the running back, the
scatterboo things interesting. I saw someone talking the other day like, Oh,

(27:37):
he's a full back, and I'm like, did you watch
him play?

Speaker 6 (27:41):
Now?

Speaker 2 (27:41):
If you want to use a two back set or
something like that, That's that's a Hugh Millen question that
I'd have to ask you. But like I think when
you see the stoutly yoked out, kind of low center
of gravity running back that looks like he's never missed
a leg or an arm day and that scams Camp
Scataboo and he's you know, he's the white kid from

(28:02):
Arizona State, You're like, oh, he must be a fullback.
That must be a faster version of use check. Watch him,
watch him, watch him run the football, and watch him
catch the football.

Speaker 9 (28:12):
Steve loves himself some camp.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
I love Skataboo. I mean I took a ton, I
mean a ton of grief last year when I voted
him in my top three Heisman But I love first
of all, they don't get where they got without him,
right that that's just a fact. Best player, he was
the best, and he was a true difference maker. He
makes you miss. He can run over you. You look at

(28:35):
the you look at their game. Their their their last game,
and he I mean they kind of held him and
checked for about I don't know, half a quarter and
then he just wore guys down. I don't know, you
know that, but maybe he fits a Seattle mode. Maybe
he does if you want to go with a two
back set or something like that. Again, that's now I
feel like I need a hardcore football set. I need

(28:56):
a hardcore football se That is.

Speaker 8 (28:58):
What makes this season so exciting, is be as we
do not know what Klint Kubik is gonna do.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Well, yeah, we could look a little bit at New Orleans,
but they were so banged up last year that it's
kind of hard. And there's the Shanahan Tree. We'll talk
about that with Lundon a little bit at two o'clock
today as well, because I think we can kind of
get into that. He you know, he covered him down there.
But yeah, I mean when when when grub was brought
in last year. We're like, Okay, they're going to stretch
the field, We're going to do this and that, and
none of those things really came to fruition, right. A

(29:23):
lot of it was because the offensive line and what
they had there. I know it all comes back to
the offensive line. If you've missed our previous conversations, we've
talked offensive lineman with Steve, with Greg Cosel, and with
our but our guy Robb Ring. So we've talked about
so if you want, if you're into like finding out
about the offensive lineman, we've talked to all those guys
about that over the last couple three weeks. But yeah,

(29:45):
I don't know this, Yeah, Scatamy, We'll have to listen.
He is already up on the podcast or is it.

Speaker 10 (29:49):
Uh, Well, he constantly tweets about him, like almost like
defending him the same kind of thing as you, Like, Hey,
just because just because he's not fast doesn't mean he's
not going to be a good NF.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Yeah, he didn't have a good forty times, right, didn't
have a good forty time, And I should have asked him, well,
next week, Okay, you know I'm gonna probably do running
backs and tight ends on the same day with with
with him and the.

Speaker 10 (30:11):
Rest of the I think tight ends and insane need
for the Seahawks, like it is a massive, massive need.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Oh you know who else does our friend Hugh Breedlove
milling Yes, like the president of the getting Noah fan
the hell out of here fan club. That's Hugh Millin.
And I don't blame him. I mean they signed into
a big contract and no offense never made a difference
once Cam block his way out of a paper bag.
And that's that's weird too, because he's one of those
guys when he's coming out of college like no offense,

(30:37):
gonna be a dude, Like he is going to be
a dude, and he has the built now.

Speaker 9 (30:40):
He had good year in Denver.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Yeah, And the lack of red zone usage was just
the curious thing with Seattle, Like just the absolute lack
of red zone usage just was just kind of non existent.
Didn't He spent a long touchdown from Drew lock like
right two years ago, right now, but it was still
not in the red zone. No, it was the red zone.
I'm thinking like that because I was there. I remember thinking, yeah, Drew,
whoa Hey, lock.

Speaker 8 (31:03):
Was a gino thing that one stands out so much
because we all wanted him to be successful, wanted.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
When they and when they made the trade with us,
he was the main guy. It was like player wise,
you know, like, yeah, Shelby Harris and I like Shelby.
He was great for a year and the draft picks
were massive and no One was kind of the guy.
Locke is the guy that can play. You know, we
knew no a family knew Lock and and and really honestly,
Shelby probably was the most impactful guy only for a year.
He got a contract elsewhere and then obviously the draft

(31:30):
picks made it made a huge difference. Okay, we come back,
We'll do a daily power play and something good.

Speaker 9 (31:36):
Let's do it next.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Malkin streets wanted on GOLDI plucks and they stop.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
It's Crosby stop. This is the daily power play Deep
Slock one.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Tim McKennon, now.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
I Son Sports Radio ninety three.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Daily power playing your home for the Kraken ninety three
point three KJRFM losing last night with the Krack into
Dallas three to one. They lost six straight to them.
Now we'll get through the bad stuff first and a
couple of other things I want to hit on, including
something good coming up in the second. You do want
to miss that, but yeah, kracking. Now, dating back to

(32:27):
the start of last season, the twenty three to twenty
four season, through this season, with seven games left to play,
they have scored one goal or less forty five times.
That's not optimum.

Speaker 9 (32:42):
That is what we call suboptimal.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Suboptimal, suboptimal. Anyway, they scored sixty two seconds in and
did not score again. Casey the Smith played really well.

Speaker 9 (32:54):
It sounds very similar to a recent game on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Sounds really yeah. I mean there's a two to one game,
empty editor at the end, but good game, entertaining and
playing hard. They're just they're missing guys. So just they
need a couple of dudes and off seasons big for them.
Next up Vancouver tomorrow Up in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada,
seven thirty face off, seven o'clock pre game show, a
little bit later start than normal. Vancouver is in a
playoff race right now. They're six back of the red

(33:20):
hot Saint Louis Blues, who have won nine straight games.
Vancouver has played one fewer games, so in essence, if
they get up game in hand. They're four behind Saint Louis,
but it's going to be a battle because the Blues
are a flipping wagon right now. They are rolling Calgary's
five points back, but they have two games in hands,
so they're a little bit better shape. That a huge

(33:41):
win last night in Colorado.

Speaker 9 (33:43):
Let's by spoiler for the knuckleheads.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
I like that idea. I think everyone likes that idea.
I love that idea real quick. Also, tonight, down at
Showear Center Western Hockey League Action, game two of the
series between Evert and Seattle tied one game apiece. It's
been a doozy so far, and they will do it
again to as a two for one Tuesday. Down at
the show Where Center. We're gonna give away tickets in

(34:05):
the two o'clock hour to forty today we give away tickets.
We'll give away a couple four packs of tickets to
that game tonight, So if you want to go check
out some great hockey, you can do that. A couple
of cracking prospects on the average Silver Tips roster. By
the way, speaking of cracking prospects, all about Berkeley Catton
named first team All League, Like not even a surprise,

(34:26):
because he's the best offensive player in the league maybe
in juniors right now, first round pick for the Cracking
last year. He's he's going to start the season here
next year. Ron Francis told us out in an interview
with him after the trade. Dyllon he will start the
season here. I mean, barring something unexpected, he's going to
start the season.

Speaker 6 (34:43):
Here next year.

Speaker 9 (34:44):
I am excited for that.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Probably gonna have to play on the wing. I don't
think they'll make them a fourth line center.

Speaker 9 (34:49):
I think that's his future.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Yeah, he can score, he can play. Oh yeah, Scott
rats thunderber goaltend and in first team All League as well.
But we'll give away those tickets coming up at two
forty or so. I want to get to something good,
just as we would say in the hockey business, stick
tap and a tip of the cap. My good friend,

(35:13):
And if you're a sports fan in Seattle, you have
seen his work, I guarantee you over the last thirty
seven years and especially about the last twenty plus years
at Fox Television. My good buddy Steve Shramack retired yesterday.
He was a sports photographer at Fox thirteen for many,
many years, massively talented guy. And I was thinking a

(35:35):
little bit about Alan Reid, who passed away just over
a year ago from King five. He was King five
sports photographer for so many years. He passed away a
year ago. My buddy Tate took his job. But you
Alan was a legend and Shrammick was there as well.
Steve did a great job. I mean, those are two
guys that made television sports on your newscasts and specialty

(35:55):
shows like Seahawks shows and other things what they were.
I'm Steve's a good friend of mine. We came full circle.
We both started the same time at Como TV polling cables.
When I say pulling cables, we're rolling coaxes up doing
live shots. Old school, yeah, yeah, there was no little
It was like we're driving a big, old urban assault

(36:16):
vehicle with a microwave antenna on top. And that's when
we first met. He was came from Montana State University,
proud bobcat. We met, then I went we went our
separate while he stayed at Como for a while, and
then I ended up obviously going doing the tour in
Tri City, Salt Lake and Portland. Came back here and
when I came back here. Steve was actually the guy
that told the sports producer Mark Rose and said, hey,

(36:37):
you should have Ian try to do some stuff. He's
done TV before. And I'm forever grateful for that, because
I did a little bit of stuff when Dan Devone
was still here, and then when Aaron got here. I
was lucky enough to be able to cover the Seahawks
for over a decade. Decade and a half covered the
Seahawks and for the most almost every trip, with only
a few exceptions, it was Steve and myself on the road.

(36:58):
Erica Wutherich and Chad Bayle, Walker Anderson or other photogs
that would travel with us were awesome people, but usually
with Steve and I and to have somebody that was
a close friend that I got to work with intimately,
and we had some great times, great stories on the road,
most of which we can't tell on the road, but
U saw's work thirty almost forty years working in television

(37:20):
news and the vast majority of the shooting sports in
our market. He retired yesterday, and I'm forever grateful. I
was lucky I got to work with him, and he
was in my wedding. That's how close we were so, Yeah,
he's he's he's one of the good ones man, And
give that back arrest shram carrying that damn camera on
your shoulder for all those years. Take it took its

(37:41):
toll on his body. He is beat up. He is
very beat up. But our good bud buddy, Steve Schrammick
retiring yesterday at Fox thirteen. I just want to I
just wanted to get him a little shot out on
the air man because yeah, it's he carried my ass
a lot.

Speaker 11 (37:55):
I had a cup of coffee with him.

Speaker 8 (37:57):
I mean, I'm speaking figuratively when I I was over
in the business with you, and there is not someone
that I would have trusted more to work with and
also to have the answer to every single question that
I always had a.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Pros pro, Yes, but immensely talented. Because we see a
pros pro. He was like, yeah, he's all right, No,
he was really talented. Great shooter. I mean his football
video was just nails, and that's a hard sport to shoot.
The NFL film style. There's the ball out of the
quarterback's hands, tight spiral pull out, boom, guy catches it
in front of you. I do I gotta tell a

(38:32):
funny story though, he came back when we were still
the Seahawks partner. We were doing all these preseason games
that we had to do, like our pregame show, our
postgame show. And it was when the Chargers moved. Is
it Carson, California? Right is where they play the soccer team,
So the Chargers played a couple of years there. We're
doing a preseason game there and Shramick had just come back.

(38:52):
His back was jacked up his first game back, and
he's doing a preseason game. It's like one hundred degrees
down there, and we have two locations. He's at one end,
I'm with I think Erica. At the other end, we're
doing live shots like these long our pregame show for
an NFL preseason game. That's a little bit much, a
little excessive, all right, a little excessive anyway. But this

(39:12):
is the best thing, and this is where, this is
where I'm I'm such a good friend. He uh, We're
down on the field doing this, sweating like hell. He
decides just to go a little walk down to the
other end to pick up like a battery or something.
He walks behind the goalposts again coming off an injury,
coming off an injury of his back, and a kicker

(39:34):
kicking like pregame ball hits him right in the eye,
like round the corner of the ice, kind of cut
him open. He comes walking back up to us. He's
got this cut eye, and he can be a salty
little son of a gun sometimes. We just started We
just started laughing, and you can hear the f bombs
all the way through the stadium as he's cutting us out.

(39:55):
Got knocked out in Saint Louis Tavares. Jackson picked him
up off the ground. Really yeah, well, because the lights
went off and he stand in there and the quarterbacks
are warming up, and he took one in the temple.
I went down. I think the stavar has picked him
up off the ground. I had to tell those two
stories because I can't give you all love. Shremp No,
he's a great one, man. I'm gonna miss you. One
of the guys I missed out working at Fox anymore.
He was so good. But if you watch TV news

(40:17):
and sports on Fox thirteen, with all of our Seahawk coverage,
sounders coverage, hockey, everything that we did over the years,
he was the guy behind the lens for the most part,
and was a great one. So enjoy your retirement, my friend,
enjoy your retirement. Tip of the Cap team, We'll take
a break, come back. John Lunn joins us.

Speaker 1 (40:32):

Oh, you have a guest on before you even have
your own producer.

Speaker 6 (42:15):
Oh, one of.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
Goodness sakes fella. Oh for goodness sakes, John's a longtime friend.
He's not just a guest, A long time long.

Speaker 5 (42:23):
But did you say did you say casino? What's all
you had to say was casino? And the last time
I just just so you know, we're gonna be friends.
But the last time I talked to you, you were
doing a show like the next day from a casino
and they're actually going to pay you. And then last
week you called me and you're like, yeah, Sam Darnold's
coming on. I bet that was a really compelling interview. Hey, Sam,
you're excited to be here. Oh can't wait? Just really excited.

(42:46):
Even if they didn't pay me the one hundred and
ten million dollars, come here on my own. Love it, Yes,
love it. I bet he just gave you.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
Some great answers.

Speaker 2 (42:54):
He was interview.

Speaker 6 (42:55):
Hey, people were just glued to the city.

Speaker 2 (42:58):
Come on, listen.

Speaker 5 (42:59):
He was a roads and you guys don't like him, Well, hey,
we didn't like him, then we like him now he's
our guy.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
He's our guy, he's our quarterback.

Speaker 6 (43:10):
Like him. I liked it.

Speaker 2 (43:11):
I liked it, like when they when us had to
play there on a Friday night in Pullman. A few
years ago. I think it was his last year in
USC and he gave up a strip sack fumble to
end the game. Remember that, I didn't bring that, didn't
bring that up with him. Didn't bring that up. Oh yeah, no,
didn't bring that up from there.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
Man, why didn't you? I went to Washington State. Thanks
for helping us out on that.

Speaker 2 (43:31):
No, no, we asked the professional.

Speaker 6 (43:33):
Now we did.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
Profession didn't ask Hi about the last two games of
the year. Asked about that. So, yeah, how was that?

Speaker 5 (43:39):
You know rough?

Speaker 2 (43:41):
He answered it. Well, he says, yeah, I got to
get better, you know, got to be better.

Speaker 5 (43:44):
Yeah, now, you know what, and I know we have
a lot of things to go over. But when he
was here that one year in San Francisco, there were
people coming behind the scenes that were like, look and
he went to the Super Bowl that year. Of course
they lost, but uh, you know, people were like, look
if if where he gets hurt, Sam Donald can can
lead us to the super Bowl. He can do a
lot of the same things. So it didn't shock me
what he did last year because Kyle Shanahan loved him.

(44:04):
They really, they really liked him.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
The offense, the Kubiak offense does it fit right him
kind of sort of, Oh yeah, he's.

Speaker 5 (44:12):
I think I'm telling you. I told you this before,
but this is gonna happen in training camp. People are
just gonna be marveled at what he can do because
from a physical standpoint, he spins the ball as well
as anybody. And I know you know this and you
hate to hear it, but like Steve Young played here,
Joe Montana played here in s Francisco, and we had
writers last year or two years ago, whoor like, he

(44:33):
can spin the ball just in terms of a physical sense,
as well as anybody who's ever played here, and everyone's
freaking out. Did you just say he was better than Montana?
That's like nobody said that. He just said from a
physical standpoint, he throws a really really pretty ball. Everybody's
gonna fall in love with them. And you know, now
how he plays is different. But what I'm saying is
is that you're you're just gonna be blown away by

(44:54):
the way that you see him play and the way
he throws the ball. And his shortcomings have always been
from a mental standpoint, and does he see it fast enough,
does it get out fast enough, does it get to
the right people fast enough. It's not a physical thing
because he is he's a really like you said, he's
a really talented athlete, so reason he went third. And
he can throw the ball really well. He can always
do it. It's always just been can he see it

(45:15):
and rip it, you know, fast enough? That's what That's
what it comes down to.

Speaker 2 (45:18):
You are you telling me that if you offer up
an opinion on the radio, that somebody may take what
you say and take it out of context and skew
the skew the opinion. Are you really telling me that,
because I've never heard that before.

Speaker 5 (45:29):
Oh my god. It was just so funny because the
guy was he was an insighter for the Niners and
he's well respected and everybody likes him. And then he
came out on our radio show and said, hey, you
know and he just that's the term he used, he said,
as far as spinning it. And he actually wrote a
piece about it, and everybody lost their mind because he
you know, again, we are we live in such a
society of like I send out tweets all the time
and people get mad at me for certain things, and

(45:50):
it's like, could you not get through the one hundred
and forty characters. Did you really stop it like characters
seventy four and not even finished the tweet? Yes, let
alone like an article that someone would right, Like, That's
what happened, is like people didn't even read, like, you know,
after like digit seventy one and they just stopped reading it.
At that point. It's like, oh my god, we can't
get through a tweet now, either an ex or whatever.

Speaker 2 (46:11):
The hell call it that Now we can't buddy, you
know that, John Lundunleash joining us, all right, I want
to get to I got to get to the A's
and they're in the shed, they're doing stuff in I
want to get to that in a second Huge series,
Huge series this weekend World Series preview Mariners and Johns
before before, before I get to that stuff I do.

(46:32):
Because you're bringing up Twitter and I was having this
conversation with our Midday guy when he was exiting the
studio and I was entering the studio today as we're
passing along and you know, April Fool's Day and it's
become a thing, and like, did April Fools become something
you couldn't really do when social media creeped in? Is
that when it really started because you can't do it.

(46:53):
I mean, like, like now, it's just ridiculous what's out there,
and you look at Instagram might be the worst, Twitter
x whatever is like the second worst. When when when
did April Fools end up and stop being fun?

Speaker 5 (47:05):
Yeah, you know, you bring up a great point because
this morning a couple of people told me this and
I don't know if college football teams got together. I
don't know if Washington did this or anything, but I
did see this from both Cal and Arizona State where
they released their frending on the football field and went up,
you know, like Arizona State was like we're going all
maroon and they did a.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
Field.

Speaker 4 (47:25):
Yeah, Cal did that.

Speaker 5 (47:26):
Cal did the same thing. They did like a yellow
one and everything, and it was like it's I don't know,
it's just I don't know how where this all came from.
And and don't send us stuff because we don't care.
It's this is my least favorite day of the year
because it's not funny. And my my wife tried a
bit on me this morning and it's like, you know,
I don't want to get in a fight and sleep
on the couch. But I did tell her, like, right, away,

(47:46):
like don't even try me, Like I'm I'm such high
alert right now, Like I don't know how anybody could
be fooled by it. But you and I know this
old story and we talk about it every year. We
got a producer fired on a show and we you know,
a long time ago, and it had to do with
college basketball and a coach getting fired, and and and
the station or the show that was going opposite us
actually ran with the story.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
Wall No, help me out, what was that?

Speaker 5 (48:07):
No, it was it was Utah and BYU was years
and years ago, and we said Rick Jerris was gonna
get fired, and this guy named Roger Reid, who was
a horrible coach at BYU that both sides survival hated,
was going to coach Utah. And people lost their mind.
Now this was before social media and everything. So anybody
who would call and this was big when we you know,
took tons and tons of calls back in the day
in sports radio, and anybody that would call and say

(48:29):
you're full of it, we would just dump them because
you have a ten second delay. So for some reason,
the show opposite ours in middays actually ran with the
story and the thing that was so crazy was we
made it so obvious. We put on a guy and
we called him John puleg John Polegg, our big reporter
from the Tempeed Ledger, and it was like they went
with the story. They went with the story and and

(48:53):
the and the producer of that show got fired. And
I felt with it bad because it was like a young.

Speaker 11 (48:57):
Girl, Oh fire me if I ever do to you.

Speaker 5 (49:00):
Oh he did that. That's what that's like. If you
did that.

Speaker 6 (49:03):
They did they they went.

Speaker 5 (49:05):
With it, and other guys were monitoring the show and
the right guys, they're going with it. We finally had
to call during the break, like forty minutes into their things.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
We said, we knew was that the Christuna station when
we were thirteen twenty okay, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 5 (49:21):
And he fired the producer and we felt so bad,
but it was like we you know it was it
was back in the day. But come on, man, we
put on a guy named John pole come.

Speaker 2 (49:31):
On, and you could I don't know back then, you
could call the sports Liz was great, Yes, idea, Utah,
you could probably call and say, hey, is there a
press conference coming up today for firing with Jeris what
are you talking about? I don't know, do your job
before you but yeah, now it's yeah, now he can't
do that.

Speaker 4 (49:47):
No, I don't do that now.

Speaker 5 (49:48):
I say that social media is like no.

Speaker 2 (49:50):
Way I say. I say that I work in the
station that you and I were a part of. When
David Locke pulled off the one years ago with he
had me, I think he had you on as well.
He was doing the night show with the Least Woodward
and he did the thing with the crazy baseball Dad.
Do you remember that one? It was like before nil
and then he had he had me on that night.

(50:12):
I remember sitting in my house in Vancouver and I
was like this over the top baseball dad, and my
kid's gonna do this and go and and like the
whole thing was just this whole It was a whole bit.
And I remember it because Elise Woodward, who I ended
up working with like six months later when Locke left
to do the Sonics, she was losing it, like yelling
at me on the phone, like on the interview, like

(50:33):
what are you doing? You're the worst part in the world.

Speaker 5 (50:35):
Remember that?

Speaker 2 (50:36):
Like then, like finally, like at nine fifty five, when
they're going out, the inter lock goes out by the way,
that's my buddy eating works in sports Rado down in Portland.
I think you did like the you were like the agent,
the player agent or something like that. Yeah, yeah, that
was exactly right. Can't do that fun stuff anymore, buddy.

Speaker 5 (50:50):
Well you can't. Well everyone's also serious, and you do
have social media, so they're.

Speaker 6 (50:54):
Going to catch on to it.

Speaker 5 (50:56):
It's who is on high alert, like the minute you
wake up, because here's how your day works nowadays. You
wake up with your alarm from your phone. Yes, you
pick up the phone, you start going over things, and
so like right away you're like, okay, I'm on high alert,
and I don't know what it is. My wife tries
this every single year, like something. I mean, I just
look at her like and then I have to do

(51:16):
I have to look in my mind like okay, do
I want to sleep on the couch? Do I roll
with this? And of course I'm a jerk, and so
I just go, will you stop?

Speaker 2 (51:24):
And then she's like, okay, you're still You're still the
same person. So you're going to be in trouble. I
don't know why you don't just accept it. John Lund,
John Lund unleash joining us here, all right? So tell
me this. You this cannot be true. All right, this
cannot be true. They're really the A's or whole are
in Sacramento, and they're honest to god. They're having press

(51:46):
conferences and pre and postgate like in a in a
shed that you would get at home, deepo me, and
you would have to have somebody constructed for us, like
we'd have to know, like those guys hanging outside home. Deepo,
we have to pay them one hundred bucks to put
it together because we don't know how to do it.
But that's the They're using a shed to do interviews
in Sacramento.

Speaker 8 (52:05):
Is this?

Speaker 2 (52:05):
Can you confirm that for me to April Fools?

Speaker 5 (52:08):
Yeah? Well, two things here. Number one, I'm going down
to said minor league park to watch a Major League
State of game between the Chicago Cubs and the Oakland
A's of Sacramento soon to be a Vegas. I just
and then, and then I get the fun of Friday night,
seeing a Friday for Opening Day, seeing your Seattle Mariner.
Some my week is it's going to be.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
Just a ball.

Speaker 5 (52:29):
I'm not digging ditches. I'm not digging ditches, so it's okay.
But I'm going there tomorrow. And you know, I watched
the game last night. I don't know if you saw it.
They're playing in a minor league park for three years,
and it's got a it's like spring training with Kyle Tucker.
The Cubs hits a home run to right field and
there's kids scrambling off of you know, the lawn. There
blanket in the law on the lawn, and a kid,

(52:50):
because they had a flag pole out there in right
field in the lawn, ran smack dab into the ball.

Speaker 2 (52:57):
You can't make that up.

Speaker 5 (52:58):
What do we do? It's a fourteen thousand seat park
with three thousand lawn seats and they're playing major League baseball.
And the thing is they're a vagabond baseball team because
they're not even sure they're going to Las Vegas, and
the owner of the A's is such a jackass that
he's gonna screw it up. So it's gonna be like
they're gonna be like a free agent team, like come

(53:18):
get us, Nashville, come get us Portland, come get us
Salt Lake City. Like they they don't even really have
a deal yet in in the Sacramento. But they hated Oakland,
and Oakland hated them so much that they just left,
and the honor of the Kings is like, hey, come
up to Sacramento for three years because he's gonna try
to steal them. But the point is, I'm watching this
game last night. My friends a broadcaster for him, so

(53:40):
I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.
He's trying to hype it up. But dude, they're in
They're in a basically an eleven thousand seat minor league stadium.
Like you said, they can't even handle the media overflow.
And the owner of the A's is so cheap. I
guarantee that that shed they were in was the cheapest
shed that home depot have. Like, is that on sale
for nine to ninety nine? This one's a two high
more and it gives you more seats. Nope, that cheap

(54:02):
plastic one they I mean, it was just the most
unbelievable clown show that I've ever seen. And then I'm
going up there tomorrow just you know, to just confirm
what I've seen.

Speaker 6 (54:13):
I like it.

Speaker 4 (54:14):
I like it.

Speaker 6 (54:14):
Yeah, Well it's.

Speaker 5 (54:15):
It's one thing for the Seahawks to play at Husky Stadium,
which is a great stadium. It's another thing baseball doesn't
do that. You can't play in an eleven thousand seats stadium.
The cub scored eighteen runs. They hit a fly ball
the right field. Well, they play in the same it's
the same in the PCL. It's the same place the
Rainiers play. So if the Mariners said the hell with

(54:37):
it and they went and played in Tacoma, it's like,
what are we doing.

Speaker 2 (54:42):
Looking at the stadium right now, and Chi Stadium is
a palace compared to this place. I'm saying it's worse.
Peoria has got a better stadium than this. For this
is awful.

Speaker 5 (54:52):
This is you know what, And I blame you, and
I blame the owner of the Mariners because the other
jackass owners were like, yeah, cool, because they don't want
anybody telling them what to do. So what they're thinking
is rather than someone stepping up one of the other
owners and saying, I'm not sending my baseball team to Sacramento,
they all just went, yeah, sure, do whatever you want,

(55:12):
because A, we don't care about the a's and B
we don't want anybody telling us what to do. So
if we want to move to yeah, they don't. They
don't want anybody telling them what to do. So they
just say, fine, it's you know, it's I mean, I
don't mean to get on a soapbox here and be all,
you know, baseball, Bob Costas, But my god, isn't there
some sort of a there's a professionalism to baseball and

(55:33):
we need to stay playing a certain kind of ballpark
and this kind of things. And I mean, literally, dude,
they're playing in a stadium that is barely suitable for
a minor league team. And I'm not trying to rip
the city when I come out, you know, I come
on the air and talk about it. But I mean,
I saw it last night and I'm going to see
it first hand tomorrow. I just can't believe that that
baseball itself and the other owners have said, yeah, you
want to go to an eleven thousand seat stadium, go

(55:55):
right ahead. I mean, it's to see the Chicago Cubs playing.
You know what it reminded me of. They showed an
overhead shot of it. I swear I thought I was
watching the Little League World Series, Like That's what it
looked like from overhead. It looked like a combination of
the spring spring training. A bunch of people on the
lawn running around for the ball and then they showed
an overhead and I swear to God it with like Williamsport,

(56:16):
How what do we do as in the summer In
the summertime, Sacramento gets like one o, six, one ten. Okay,
that can happen in Arizona or you know, if Dya's
ever make the Vegas they won't but it. But you
know Arizona's inside like this is an outdoor stadium that

(56:36):
get this, And I guess they changed this, but they
didn't have the the dugouts when you go through to
the clubhouse in Major League Baseball, they go to the
through the dugout to the clubhouse. They had to change that.
In Sacramento. The clubhouses were in center field, so out
they'd have to run all the way through the center
field to get to the clubhouse. And it's like, oh,

(56:56):
I gotta go to the bathroom. Oh you're gonna have
to run the center field.

Speaker 3 (56:59):
I mean, what do we in Lilygue.

Speaker 5 (57:01):
It's just what a joke?

Speaker 4 (57:04):
What a joke?

Speaker 5 (57:05):
And the Mariner is gonna have to come down here,
you know, on the same division, So, oh my god,
it's ridiculous. It's so ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (57:13):
Are the Giants and the Mariners the same team?

Speaker 5 (57:16):
Yeah, I mean the Giants are off to a decent start,
but I mean there is you know, we're like we're
four games in, right, there's one hundred and sixty two,
and everybody may be down here is like you know,
short sample size, short sample size. It's four days of two.
It's not even small sample size, like if you equate

(57:36):
it to football. I mean, know, they're seventeen, there's soon
to be eighteen games, but for every base for every
ten baseball games, that's one football game just about. So,
I you know, my math is not exactly right, but
it used to be when our sixteen it was nice
and convenient. But you know so, I mean, yeah, so
you can't even you can't even you know, look at
anything in baseball. Tell you about forty games.

Speaker 2 (57:56):
In Well, it doesn't matter because there's three and one.
It doesn't matter in your division because you're playing for
second anyway in a wildcard, right, I mean that that
team might go one sixty two and oh from LA,
I know, it's.

Speaker 5 (58:08):
So ridiculous how it's down they have and so yeah,
everybody around here is kind of buzzn't about it. But
that's cool. I'll go down and see.

Speaker 6 (58:14):
Your Marriagers on Friday and we'll get a four or
for Robbie raise.

Speaker 2 (58:19):
Oh is it rob Yeah? Is Robbie Ray pitching this area?

Speaker 3 (58:22):
Is?

Speaker 9 (58:22):
I looked at it?

Speaker 5 (58:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (58:24):
That's just awesome.

Speaker 5 (58:26):
Doesn't mit Tannager play for the like a minor league team?

Speaker 2 (58:29):
They released him, right, hey, yeah they turfed him. Yeah,
they finally got smart and turfed him. Yeah he's getting
he got fifteen or seventeen million dollars to walk away.
Can you imagine? Can you imagine, like, hey, did camb
argue you that when they kicked you out of the door.
They say, hey, here's here's seventeen million.

Speaker 5 (58:45):
Here close.

Speaker 2 (58:45):
Tolbert got twenty. Tolbert got twenty. You got seventeen.

Speaker 5 (58:50):
Yeah, you know, like you know, the master negotiator I am.
It took a while and you know my team of lawyers,
but yeah, I was close to that. I don't really
have to work.

Speaker 4 (58:58):
I just do you know.

Speaker 5 (58:58):
I just come on every week because I miss you.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
I know, I appreciate that things well, you know, and
our listeners want to listen to more of you. So
tell people how they can do that. That's called a shit. Wow,
that's called a segue. That's got a segue.

Speaker 5 (59:11):
Felon, No, that's that's called dripping sarcasm.

Speaker 2 (59:14):
No, no, listen, you know me for almost thirty five years,
I've never done that. I've never done that. Are you
talking about?

Speaker 5 (59:20):
Come on, come on, go to John lndunleash dot com
on YouTube.

Speaker 6 (59:24):
It is.

Speaker 5 (59:25):
It will change your life. It'll change your life. And
when I think, what time do you come on the air,
What time do.

Speaker 2 (59:29):
You come on the air At one o'clock, sir, one o'clock.

Speaker 5 (59:31):
So one o'clock is a great time to join my channel.
At one o'clock, about three o'clock is really when I
do my best work. Yeah, so if you enjoyed the
channel at that point, yeah, there's nothing going on on
the radio dial, So just write just right to YouTube,
John lond unleashed, one o'clock would be a good time
for a couple of hours.

Speaker 2 (59:49):
You are accurate, You are accurate. There is nothing going
on at that time. I think like there is, there
is absolutely nothing. And Chase in point the last twenty
minutes to be honest with.

Speaker 5 (01:00:00):
Yes, now, if we did a vote, if we had
a poll right now, This interview is much more compelling
than Sam Darnold telling me, Oh, I just can't wait.
It's just gonna be great, and I can't wait to
throw to Cooper Cup. And you know, I'm very excited
JSN and get the running game going. Fix that interier
of the offensive line that I can't escape. It's you know,

(01:00:21):
I'm really excited to work with what's the coach's name, McDonald?

Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
That's McDonald, what's his name?

Speaker 4 (01:00:26):
Stop it?

Speaker 5 (01:00:27):
Yes, Yeah, I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
Love Seattle, Love Listen. You worry about paying that noodle
alarmed quarterback seventy million dollars a year, and we'll worry
about the Seahawks, all right. You worry about that sixty
million for a guy that couldn't throw it across the field.
The field's only Russell Wilson told me fifty three to
third yards wide. I'm not sure if your guy can
get it there. So anyway, we'll talk. We'll talk next week.

Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
Yeah, sixty millions, nothing, sixty million?

Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
Nice, John London, John London leashed dot com.

Speaker 11 (01:01:01):
He's some fun.

Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
It's just a moron.

Speaker 11 (01:01:03):
Doesn't matter, but yeah, but a fun one.

Speaker 2 (01:01:06):
Yeah, No, he is something our moron.

Speaker 6 (01:01:09):
Yeah he is.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
I can't wait till the contract has to get signed
by party and we can that's gonna be field Day.

Speaker 9 (01:01:15):
Yeah, let's see what you doing.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
Rock Party, sixty million dollar quarterback.

Speaker 9 (01:01:21):
I think it's going sixty five.

Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
God. I was gonna look for the forty one to
see if it's forty one, but I can't find that
now because it's all right. Wait old, Yeah, that was
long one. Sorry, oh my god, sorry, thank you very much,
O God. All right, we got to take a break.

(01:01:43):

Speaker 11 (01:02:28):
Yeah, you could do something like that and people might
show up. In droves.

Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
They would never do that, I know, no, but they do,
you know what their defense. In their defense, they do
like the pregame happy hour and stuff, and there's and
you can get cheap beer you just scan it. Yeah,
they like, yeah, yeah, you can do that cheat. Where
are you talking about T mobile? Yeah? Yeah, Like they
have like a cheap beer thing you can go. There's
like a there's like a certain location code. Yeah yeah yeah,

(01:02:54):
I mean you got to search for it, yes, but
it's there.

Speaker 9 (01:02:57):
Yeah, and it's like half the size.

Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
I don't, I don't know. I'm just telling you that's
what it's.

Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
I don't.

Speaker 11 (01:03:02):
I do know that they had a couple of Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
I get myself a body or a Miller Lite and
I'm good. I think that's all. You know, get some peanuts,
thanks for coming.

Speaker 10 (01:03:10):
You have the good kind of progression there. You start
with an I p A and you go a little
bit lighter after.

Speaker 11 (01:03:15):
That's the move.

Speaker 9 (01:03:16):
That's I'm a Dello guy for the second one.

Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
But that's just me. Well that's just you, all right.
I like I like him Adelo, but I gotta drink
it with my friend. The former Seahawk linebacker who used
to work with us that that was our go to
preseason game drink. Okay, let's get some text music fitted
four nine four five one. Tell them what it's not.

Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
It's a free.

Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
Hard to break old habits people, It is just hard
to break old habits. Should we want the crack and
to lose out to improve draft odds? I can't answer
that questions.

Speaker 4 (01:03:44):
Can you?

Speaker 10 (01:03:45):
Technically it would not be bad for the crack and
to do that. But a lot of people are saying
this is a very shallow draft. There's not you're not
going to get the first overall pick. I personally think
like I would rather see a competitive end of the
season and kind of build something with with the young

(01:04:06):
guys going into next year.

Speaker 2 (01:04:07):
Yeah, they don't have there's no there's no Maclin celebrity,
there's no convodar. They're going to make some They're going
to trade some of those picks anyway.

Speaker 9 (01:04:16):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
So they blatantly I'm all for I'm all for tanking
most of the time. Are you really well when you
get to a certain point. Yeah, but they're not going
to do that. No, because hockey. You can't really in
hockey anyway, because you can't make it they're at the
limit for call ups, right, can't make worse, so they
can't bring up you know, Jagger Furcus and a bunch
of twenty year olds from Coachella Valley. Yeah, you can't

(01:04:37):
do that.

Speaker 9 (01:04:38):
So the main thing I want to see, I don't.

Speaker 4 (01:04:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
There's too much pride, Like Jordan Eberley, Jeredy Cann, Vince
dun Montour, those guys are not going to stand.

Speaker 9 (01:04:46):
It's a culture thing. You don't want to build a culture.

Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
Jordan Eberly said that a couple weeks ago. We're trying
to build a culture down road. I mean there's some
guys i'd like to see get less ice time.

Speaker 6 (01:04:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
I won't name names or anything like that or numbers,
but you won't. But I won't. I will. I mean,
maybe not one will be a magical year of Murder's history.
I'll just leave it at that.

Speaker 9 (01:05:06):
Five.

Speaker 11 (01:05:08):
You have definitely been banging that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
But I think I think you want to. I think
you want to do it. Okay, let's let's see what
else we got here. Things that make me laugh and
saying Nick crowd Nick rus just laughing at something when
she's off my class.

Speaker 9 (01:05:23):
You heard in the background, please.

Speaker 10 (01:05:25):
I like normally they tell us to turn your mic
on when you're gonna laugh because it creates energy.

Speaker 9 (01:05:29):
You don't need to because you can hear.

Speaker 11 (01:05:30):
The cackle that cannot be tangled.

Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
And Ian hitting the wrong button, which I just learned.
I just learned how to do that, you know, I
just yes, I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 11 (01:05:47):
That's what it sounds like.

Speaker 8 (01:05:48):
He is.

Speaker 9 (01:05:49):
It's a softy question.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
It's up here, so I can do this quite a bit. Actually,
that's this is like his favorite toy, and now it's
kind of turned into my favorite toy because it's his.
I can I'm playing with his toys, is what I'm doing.
You know, I'm a Sam Donald what time?

Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
Looking deep downfield into the end zone, touchdown Jacks, Robbie
Anderson and the first TD cob.

Speaker 10 (01:06:12):
Sam Donald's career goes forty one yards?

Speaker 9 (01:06:15):
See forty one yards?

Speaker 5 (01:06:17):
Thank you?

Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
And Sam? What yard? Thank you?

Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
Sam liked it we played that for him.

Speaker 4 (01:06:22):
He didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (01:06:23):
He remembered Bobby Anderson, Robby Anderson, and he was mad
at himself for being four yards of.

Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
Which I think is an interesting thing with the whole
interview with Sam Donald, screw you Lund if you're listening.
We like our quarterback. He was a good interview and
the thing that jumped out is that he was mad
at himself for he said it was forty five yards,
so he's off by four yards and like, but he
was atal about it, which is what you want in
your quarterback. You want him to know all like like

(01:06:50):
remember stuff like there's so much you got to remember
or retain. So yeah, I mean, I'm glad we played
that for him.

Speaker 6 (01:06:55):
We'll see.

Speaker 11 (01:06:55):
He laughed and then goes, I'm really pissed.

Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
Yeah, I mean, Marcus says, I may be the only one,
but I think there's a need for right tackle and
running back sharbona and whatever they throw out at right
tackle in case of injury is good enough for more
than one, maybe two games. In their defense, they tried
last year with the right with you know when they
went out and signed George Fant. Yeah, I don't think
they could have predicted that the guy would get hurt

(01:07:20):
three plays in and then get hurt again another two
plays in. What do you play like ten plays all year?
Whatever the hell was, and they tried the running back.
I'm sorry, man, you've invested enough two second round picks
of draft capital in Charbon. Anne Walker Macintosh is fine
as a third down back, not to say that as
the president or the VP and behind Pallozola of the

(01:07:41):
Camps Kataboo Bank Club. If they signed him, I wouldn't
be atally disappointed.

Speaker 11 (01:07:45):
Now we do have a little bit of breaking Mariners news.

Speaker 8 (01:07:48):
Probably not unexpected, but Emerson Hancock has been an optioned
down to triple A to call following yesterday's debacle.

Speaker 11 (01:07:55):
Jonathan Diaz has been selected.

Speaker 9 (01:07:57):
That's surprises for me, honestly, does it?

Speaker 6 (01:07:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
They'd how quickly they want? Yeah, maybe maybe they want
him to go get right. Yeah, like maybe they want
him just to go get right because it was just
such a rough out. If it was such a rough
outing that maybe they just want And now here's the thing.
They have an off day Thursday, so you can massage
your rotation around that guy.

Speaker 6 (01:08:19):
Yeah, do they have?

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
And they might have an off day next week too.
I think haven't looked, you know, so I think if
that's the case, let's see that.

Speaker 10 (01:08:28):
I mean, Jonathan Diaz is he's a five starter. You
can slot him in and I'll give you off day.
They have an off day next Wednesday. Oh, I'm sorry
they don't.

Speaker 11 (01:08:38):
They have an off day and Thursday.

Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
But yeah, so they got two off days coming up
in the next seven days. Yeah, nine days, I should
say so.

Speaker 8 (01:08:44):
Anyway, Yeah, I guess I think I agree with you
and that they Okay, something's not right here and it's
not necessary like bye.

Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
We're We're going to end it with this from Keith Miller.
I feel for Jerry to puddle. Having asked John Stanton
for the check book to buy torpedo bats, John, I
need some money. Can I have the credit card?

Speaker 9 (01:09:07):
It shouldn't be that much more expensive than a rag
their beat?

Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
John, do you want me to pay with cash? Check?
Or can I use my black American Express card with
no limit?

Speaker 5 (01:09:19):
Check?

Speaker 6 (01:09:19):
It is?

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Thanks John, Appreciate it. John Stanton, Alaska and America using
a check Appreciate that. What's the all? Don't write it
for more than what two hundred dollars? Okay? Super? All right,
thanks a lot, Justin. I got some bad news for you.
We're cutting your salary. We need some torpedo bats. God.

(01:09:40):
The torpedo bat thing is interesting. I don't know it
hit the ball.

Speaker 11 (01:09:44):
It seems like a fad.

Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
Yeah, maple bats were a thing. Juice balls to ax
bats were a thing. You know whatever. Yeah, who's not
using Aaron Judge is not using it for the Yankees?

Speaker 4 (01:09:56):
Is he?

Speaker 9 (01:09:56):
I thought he was.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
I don't think he is, either him or Stanton one
of those two guys, isn't.

Speaker 9 (01:10:00):
I think the whole team is wrong. Did you read
Did you read that?

Speaker 6 (01:10:03):
Someone?

Speaker 9 (01:10:03):
I'll look it up in the break.

Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
You looked at it? Do me a fact check, will you?
We'll do all right. Softy and Faine are out at
Husky spring football practice. Interesting for Ian how much he
cares for a guy that hates NFL preseason with a passion.
Now we're the home for the Huskies. I see he's
out there, probably talking to Jed, telling Jed what he's thinking.
I did see that they're going to announce the team

(01:10:24):
captains for the Husky spring game later this week. Is
Softy in line for that job team captain? We'll find
out next Alrighty, We're about done here. Nothing else I

(01:10:46):
can do, no more damage I can do.

Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
You got nothing else to offer? I thought that about
one o'clock. By the way, just like it.

Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
No, Well, you know it's wild. I started crosstalk at
twelve forty five with new Guy, and I thought.

Speaker 4 (01:10:57):
The same thing, New Guy.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
You mean new Guy.

Speaker 4 (01:11:00):
I got in the car at one o'clock. I was like, no,
there's really nothing here.

Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
There's nothing here.

Speaker 4 (01:11:03):
I want to hear a replay of my show from yesterday,
which is even worse, by the way, than what you
were offering.

Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Well, I don't know if that's the case.

Speaker 4 (01:11:10):
Hey, andrew's the conversation that you and I were having
off the year. I want to ask you in that
same question. But go ahead, Koscher, you think, yeah, I
think Landon Hatchett, the new starting center for the Huskies
comes walking down the sideline here at UDB.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
What do you mean, Koscher? I'm Catholic?

Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Well, kosher is a generic term. Is it? Is it
okay to discuss?

Speaker 6 (01:11:29):
Is that?

Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
Koscher? I mean, Jessemon knows what I'm talking about? Okay,
are the only one that watches the Root Sports broadcast
and can't understand a fricking word Ryan Rowland Smith is saying,
not because he's bad at what he does, but his accent. Man,
I mean, it's like serious. I gotta stare at the
TV like what huh? Like for me? I go home.

(01:11:52):
I want baseball on the background, right, Yes, I'll pay attention,
but you want it on the background. Whatever? And what
I can't understand it?

Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Damn Morty saying Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna say, I'm
gonna tell you something that that tonight will be the
first night that I've watched a broadcast because we've had
three of the nights we've had a cracking game. Yes,
and then Sunday I went to the game and sat
there and enjoyed the game myself.

Speaker 4 (01:12:16):
Just like this is like Mariners passy way stop stop
right there for a second. On pillows stop stop for
a second. I almost forgot to do something. Okay, Anders,
what did I forget? What's your job? You have one job?

Speaker 6 (01:12:29):
Reminded? Sorry?

Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
Uh? I know two words?

Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
Two words send text four nine four or five one
the magic two words. We got two four packs of
tickets for the Everage Silver Tip Sales Crass Thunderberg game
at show to night. It's two for one. That means
two for one. Beers down to Show war Center tonight.
There's two words, two magic words. If you send those
two magic.

Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
Words, Oh, can I guess?

Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
No rhyme rhyme it for me. Rhyme it for me,
Ortland ducks. Yes, very good, Yes, yes, actually more than
that's really good text at then we'll listen to four
packs so you can bring three bodies, family members, whatever
you want to do. Okay, sorry, tonight will be the
first not to actually sit down and watch a game.

(01:13:13):
Probably start to.

Speaker 4 (01:13:14):
Think, well, I want to ask you a question tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
I think Ryan's really.

Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
What was what was easier to understand what I just
said right there? The last thirty seconds, Ryan.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
Rhyming the code words for the Buterber tickets.

Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
Yeah, Ryan Rowlands.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Have you noticed have you noticed.

Speaker 4 (01:13:32):
Every time I hear him talking? I think at the
end of Wolf of Wall Street, you know what, he's
giving a speech in New Zealand. Sell me this pin.
This pin is a noise pin. You can use it
to right that is, you can use it to jut
down your thoughts.

Speaker 10 (01:13:47):
I watch SoC broadcast, you can use it throw a So.

Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
Listen like I am the last person that is going
to criticize someone on television right now, because.

Speaker 4 (01:14:00):
But it's not about a criticism though, okay, because he's
he's he's that's just the way he talks. I mean
he's not. He's a great he's a great analyst. I
mean what, I just feel like, you.

Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Know, if you can't understand him.

Speaker 4 (01:14:09):
You told you're right, he could steak for all I know. Now,
what's he doing there? They got a no base?

Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
I know what it is. You miss blow?

Speaker 6 (01:14:17):
Right?

Speaker 4 (01:14:18):
Of course, he's a husky who wouldn't miss blow?

Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Yeah, well man, it's been off for like three years.
It's feel like he's been off forever.

Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
But I want you to watch the game tonight though,
and just tell me if you need to focus a
little bit more, uh huh to pay attention to what
the hell Ryan Roland Smith is talking about. Okay, I
feel like from now on I need I need to
use close captioning to watch the MRI.

Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
You're awful, You were awful.

Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
Sometimes when I'm watching like Andrews, I think I told Andrews.
Just when I watch like Game of Thrones or whatever,
sometimes I'll have close captioning on because the accents are
so thick.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
This is sounding more and more like a you problem sometitles.

Speaker 9 (01:14:56):
I use subtitles and almost everything I watch, Yeah, what yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
Why?

Speaker 4 (01:15:00):
You find out a lot more? Actually, do you.

Speaker 9 (01:15:02):
Miss a word here? And there it's like, oh, that's who.

Speaker 4 (01:15:04):
He's talking about, right, I use it a lot to
be honest, even if it's like mostly because my hearing
is going.

Speaker 11 (01:15:09):
So I agree with the ian that it sounds like
a you problem.

Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
All right, well, okay, then ask the text line four
nine four to five one. Am I the only guy
out there that has a hard time understanding what Ryan
Rowland Smith was saying on the Root sports broadcast? Is
that a softy problem? Or is that a general population?

Speaker 6 (01:15:24):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Four nine, four to five one? And then, of course,
what is the other rhyme? The other thing they got
for the ticket? Softy Ortland knocks Sorland sucks? Do you
have you have a couple uh those ands? Before the
other stuff comes in? We get we've overlooked. I see
the text line is it's steaming right now?

Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
It's like they're talking about Ryan roland Smith. They say,
are they talking about Orland knocks?

Speaker 11 (01:15:47):
That's exactly Dudson.

Speaker 8 (01:15:48):
One person did say, softy, my wife has her Google
Map voice with on a austarli an accent.

Speaker 11 (01:15:54):
I can't understand that.

Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
Is he from Australia or New Zealand, Australia or a
Great Britain.

Speaker 4 (01:16:01):
Ryan Roland Smith from Australia.

Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
Or Wales or is he from Glasgow?

Speaker 8 (01:16:05):
I haven't never had a problem understanding him, that okay, Brian.

Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
Brian says Roland Smith is terrible. Ryan says Softie's an idiot.

Speaker 2 (01:16:14):
Fifty fifty right now. I I can't understand the crack
and broadcast either. That guy is awful. You know that
guy doing three imposted brutal? Can' understand him either? Sounds
like a Canadian.

Speaker 9 (01:16:27):
I said the same thing about last night's on the
radio too.

Speaker 6 (01:16:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
Bent's awful, awful.

Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
Yeah, straight out yeah, like Mike Bent.

Speaker 2 (01:16:38):
Honestly, Well, listen, listen. Having worked for the organization for
a year now.

Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
A lot of people, A lot of people, are they?

Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
A lot of people text text. I'll text you. I'll
text you. Yeah, I'll text you our little super secret
text line. I'll send it to you later.

Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
What is wiki thinking?

Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
Well, you know that's I don't know. I just hope
he likes me.

Speaker 4 (01:17:00):
I will hate your guts. That's well, come on, man.

Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
Speaking of which is Martinez? Has Kevin Martinez texting you
yet after this segment?

Speaker 4 (01:17:06):
Let me check my phone? No, but Brian Robinson texted me.
That's nice our sons.

Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
Guy there he is, all right, all right, I will
text you tonight, and I do not want whatever I
text you look at broadcast. I don't want that being
used on the air again.

Speaker 4 (01:17:21):
I'm just it's gonna take some getting used to. That's fine.
I've had a hard time.

Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
Has Angie done color yet?

Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
I don't believe so it's just been Goldie and uh
and I film that I can't say for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
Okay, yeah, all right, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
But watch it tonight and just tell me if it's
just a bit of a chore.

Speaker 2 (01:17:40):
Okay, that's all. Whatever I tell you, I want you
to not bring it up on the air, all right.

Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
I don't do that, man, I know.

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Nope, okay, I'll uh should I have a gin and
tonic before I do something or make it even worse?

Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
Actually it might make it more more clear. Oh, I
get it.

Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
It's like some titles for you and okay, what are
you doing? You're out in Husky we are asty football camp.
Do you hate NFL preseason but you like spring football?

Speaker 4 (01:18:08):
What do you do like? I like being out of
the studio and not having to see you. So okay,
we know we were here. It was more about not
having to see jests to be totally honest emotion. My god,
that makes so no. It's a day one of spring ball.
We're gonna hear from Jed Fish at three twenty today.
Actually went and caught up with him before practice. Sat

(01:18:29):
in his office, which has changed a bit since Calen
to Boord left for Alabama. By the way, okay, big
difference in Jed's office. There is now a candy dispenser
on the wall in the coach's office. I like that,
and a treadmill. By the way, oh Ling wasn't a
big treadmill guy.

Speaker 2 (01:18:43):
I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
We'll here from him at three twenty. Christian Capbele is
gonna pop over as well at four John Wilner, Brian
Schmetzer that I believe Scottie Graham, who's the new running
backs coach, Well, he's been here for a year now.
He will join us around six pm to night, all
from the Husky Stadium, the great his setting in college football.

Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
It is hell yeah, okay, all right, Jackson did finally
just come in. So what you said about him earlier,
he did not hear it, So don't worry. Oh God,
thank God, all right, I'll see you by. For the
mild mannered and marginally objectionable Inverness, this is Paddled day,
saying so long everyone,
