Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, this is our last show out here because our
next road game is later our national or both. Yeah,
so last time we're doing a show out here. Sad okay.
But anyway, when we get we'll be there because we're
at Jimmy's all the time right where Jimmy's on. First,
we've got the NFL Draft is coming up. Yeah, we
(00:21):
will be out there for that. What else we got called,
I mean, we're you know, soft, he's never in studio,
he's always.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Sever Yeah, so he's the most We will get that stuff.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
We will get that YouTube stuff where like I said,
we did a soft launch last week. We appreciate everybody watching.
But in the meantime, here we are on the radio.
It's an old school thing called the radio. Also on
of course the iHeartRadio app. Preset your reset for your
preset to number one. You can speak in red microphone.
Away you go. We didn't get to text yesterday four
nine four five one, but we will do that today
(00:53):
on the Takoma Doadje text.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Line talks please and talkbacks.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Just loves her. Talk yes, talk to our talk to her.
Let's see where to start. I'll get to the Mariners
in a second. Joe Shean's going to join us coming
up here at one today and then John lond at
two pm this afternoon. I'll I'll get to the Mariners
in a second, just real quick, on to put a
bow on college basketball. It's kind of cool. I jumped
(01:17):
in the car yesterday after our postgame show for the
Kraken and uh HEADKG are already on and boom and
we the Anders. You had finished the post game show. Yeah,
about the same time we did. Flipped it over. So
I got to listen to the last seven or eight
minutes of the championship game on my drive home. Courtesy
of Westwood One. We love carrying the games. Our relationship
(01:39):
with Westwood one's awesome. Honestly, more important than having any
kind of network behind you. We're Fox Sports affiliate, obviously,
but the fact we have Westwood One, we have March Madness,
we have the NFL, we have what we need. It's perfect.
And so listen to that game on the way home,
and it was basically a heavyweight slug fest back and forth.
And you know, people, if you want to see high scoring,
(02:02):
you know, guys knocking down threes and all that fun stuff,
that wasn't what you have and there's a lot of
criticism today on a couple of fronts about the college game.
We talked about it yesterday. The ratings are good, Uh,
they always are for March Madness. I'm not good that
that is a is a non factor in terms of
(02:23):
the interest of the sport, the interest in the postseason.
Because Mark asked me my favorite postseason, that's a great question.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Is it's a good summer question? For sure, it's a good.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
It's a good it's a good question because like weekend
one of March Madness, the round of sixty four in
the round of thirty two, is it's phenomenal, It's unbelievable.
I think I think the first round of the Stanley
Cup playoffs, Oh yeah, unreal. Yes, you get upsets, hot goaltending.
Seems like you always have long series. The way the
(02:53):
format is, you have a two and a three playing
in each division. I mean, it's it's crazy good. You know,
NFL it feels like NFL wild card weekends always better
than the next two weekends. Yeah whatever, for whatever reason,
you know, And and then but it's just kind of
you know, college football playoffs, which we have now, like
(03:15):
you can debate that good bad. We have some blowouts
in that and then we have some great games, but
then we have more. It feels like we have more
and more blowouts. And then in college basketball, we had
the game last night that people weren't happy about because
you know, it wasn't a beautiful thing. In terms of basketball,
the team's combined to shoot for like thirty percent, the
second lowes shooting percentage in the championship game in history,
and all that. I still think playing in the stadium
(03:36):
and the money grab that is seventy thousand people needing
to cram into a football stadum to watch a basketball
game is absolutely ridiculous. It's not going to change by
me or anybody else yelling and screaming about it, but
it's ridiculous. I can tell you this. The data can
tell you whatever it wants. And there's data on both sides,
data that says big stadium bad shooting. Big stadium doesn't matter.
(03:57):
All go. I'll take it a big level day to
the state high school basketball tournament. Were there every year
at Ta Comba Dome, and every year and I'm there,
I hear from the players and the coaches, and we
talk to people and we're wandering around the way they
split the Tacoma Dome. If you haven't been there, this
massive black curtain splits the Tacoma Dome floor, so you
(04:17):
have girls on one side, boys on the other. Everybody
wants to shoot at the black curtain in the second half.
It's just easier to shoot if you shoot at the
opened end, whether it's boys or girls, and one is
north end, one of south end, depending on where what
courts is right. It's really hard. The depth percession perception
is hard. It's not what you're used to seeing in
a normal gym, and so, yeah, the stadium makes a difference.
(04:40):
The bigger issue there was complaining about screaming, yell and
holleran you know, Michigan. Oh my gosh. It's just you know,
they have five starters that were, you know, in the portal.
They didn't have a freshman, so it's not that bad.
But they they're they're top five guys basically, Mara, Lendenburgh, Johnson, Cadeaux,
Burnett and those guys are all transfers from UCLA, Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama,
(05:02):
North Carolina, and Illinois and they rebuilt a team from
the portal. That, folks, is how it works. In today's
college basketball and frankly in today's college football. That's how
it works. So we can scream and yelle and holler
and how much we hate it. The transfer portal opened
today a victim, well last night, I guess at midnight.
(05:22):
And everyone's in it. Everyone's going. If you watched any
tournament games at all, Kentucky's best players in the portal.
Kansas has a starter in the portal, Arkansas has a
starter in the Everyone has a starter or multiple starters
in the portal.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
And the good teams are not immune to this.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
That's the key Andrews exactly good teams. I mean you
look look at where Michigan got their guys. A de
Mara UCLA Sweet sixteen team, right. Actually, Lendon Big is
a little bit different, UAB, smaller school obviously, Marez Johnson junior,
you already played last year their power forward Illinois. Yeah,
(06:01):
let me check notes. Final four teams.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Yeah, yeah, pretty good, lat.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Caddo Chex's notes, blue Blood North Carolina, the Mario Burnett
Alabama tournament team. No one's immune from it right now.
The arms race is different for some than others. But
that's just where we're going, does it hurt the popularity
of the game. No, you know why because of what
we all do. We put juice on things. Yeah, don't
(06:28):
kid yourself for one second. Why are some sports more
popular than others? Or why are some tournaments or playoffs
or what have you more popular than others? There is
one massive reason. It's because of the ability to gamble,
or play fantasy, or do a bracket. It's one or
(06:48):
all of those. You mean money, it's it's a vested interest. Yes, yeah,
you have a vestment. You have juice, whether you put
five dollars. We do that gas Man Memorial bracket for
for us here, and what we should point out is,
as it was pointed out, gas is still very much
a lot.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Why did they name it that?
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Well, your predecessor named it that, so I know.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
But he doesn't remind us that he didn't invite me
this year.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
No, were you in the other one?
Speaker 3 (07:19):
I was and I won?
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Which one?
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Were you in the iHeart one?
Speaker 1 (07:23):
That's one. That's the one we're talking.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
No, no, no, you're talking about gas Man Memorial. It's different.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Oh I didn't do the iHeart one, okay, anyway, I
didn't need the the But whether it's five or ten bucks,
whatever it is. You're it's you have a vested interest
in the bracket whether what is Why is the NFL
popular why? We all know why. It's because of fantasy football. Yes,
I mean the only people that don't play fantasy football
(07:47):
are named Mark James, and uh and Dave Softy, mall.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Everybody else in the country literally everyone else.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Wait, really, Mark doesn't play, No, no, but he's.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
He's he's mister gamble sent though, but he.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Still get Yeah, that's why and guess what and that's
why really, so they have their own vested interest in it.
And so you know, when you see the numbers. I know,
at one point one of the tournaments, of the tournament
games were peaking at like nineteen million. They were they weren't.
That was just like a peak for like a ten minute,
you know, quarter hour. It's not that, but they were
huge numbers, big numbers. And people say, well, it's not broken.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
No, it's not.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
It's never gonna be broken. As long as it's done
the right way and you can do a bracket, the
NFL is never gonna be broken. As long as people
were playing fantasy football or can go to in our state,
a tribal casino we energy to go to, so call
me me or other places, DraftKings, what have you. You
can you put juice on stuff. It's easy to do.
MLB does not lend itself to that, not as much.
(08:45):
It just I mean, you can. I've played roach history
baseball back in the day. Like that's a grind, Like
you better have a lot of time on your hands.
It's it's a grind, but it doesn't lend itself to that.
NHL people do play fantasy hockey. I think you do.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
And right, it's my favorite fantasy sport. Actually is it
really insane? I like the daily grind, but different than
baseball because like you have to kind of, you know,
be strategic with how many games teams are playing in
certain weeks, and like it's it's more than just everyone's
playing every day, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
So that's yeah, So, so hockey probably easier than baseball
in terms of fantasy.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Well it's half the time, it's half the games.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Yeah, but that's it. So, I mean, that's why it's popular.
But at the end of the so, so the transfer
portal is not going to end the popularity of march madness.
Like people could be mad at Michigan all they want.
I think Indiana just won a national championship with a
whole bunch of transfers, did they not in college football?
Speaker 3 (09:36):
And no one got mad at that. No, because it
was Indiana and it was Kurt Signetti, he's awesome.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
We're we're mad because we're mad because it's Michigan.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
It's true.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
It's different though.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
You know, you can have two transfers on a basketball
team and that'll make the entire thing.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
It's not the same in football. True, No, you have
twenty two.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Guys, like five guys, five starters for Michigan were all.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Transfers, right exactly.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
That that's it that need well they yeah, I mean
you could probably get away with two or three if
we have some freshmen. That but what we saw is
this what we see with Arizona. Arizona started three, their
three best players were freshmen. They their doors blowing off
by an older team. So anyway, I put a rap on.
I thought I thought the tournament was fun. I'm not.
(10:19):
I thought, you know, we had the Dylan Darling play
for Saint John's, we had the Mullens shot for Yukon.
We had the shot by Iowa at the buzzer. I mean,
we had some great, great finishes early in the tournament.
That's why I say the early part of the tournament's
the best. And yeah, maybe some of the final four
or even the Ladia games disappointed, although certainly not the
Ladia games. They got Yukon there. But yeah, it was
(10:40):
at the end of the day, it was fun. I'm
glad we have it on our air. I'm glad we
we can wrap it up and now we move on
to baseball NHL and NBA playoffs and of course the
NFL drafts and all that. But talking about baseball, our
guy Joe Shean will join us Mariners off to wait
for it, a Slow Start Death Texas Slow Start. Joe
Shean coming up next.

fix from Joshian.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Big. Thanks Eric and the crew in Northwest Handling Systems.
More on them in a moment. Joshian joins us Joshian
newsletter Joshian dot com. What are we This is coming
up on thirteen days into the season. Does that sound right?
I think there no twelve days in the season. We
opened up two weeks ago, coming Thursday, so here we
are deep into it, Joe. I think we can make
(11:51):
some rash judgments, can we not?
Speaker 7 (11:54):
Yeah, the Marlins are the best team in baseball and
the Red Sox should just release everybody.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
The two eight Red Sox panic at Fenway Park. You
can read it at Joshian dot No. I want to
get to a bunch of stuff and go ahead.
Speaker 7 (12:08):
I'll tell you what's funny though, if you look at
the standings, everything is compressed. There aren't a lot of
oh my god, this team is whatever. Because I'm gonna
get this wrong coming but it's something like only three
teams have fewer than four wins, and only three teams
have fewer than four losses. Than four losses, I get
that wrong, Only three teams have uh, basically ways jammed
(12:29):
up between like seven and four and four and six.
There's just no outliers.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
It's it is. It is great. I mean, Dodgers and
Brewers are eight and two and then the two and
eight Boston Red Sox jump off the page, and everyone
else is kind of in like you said that kind
of that that middle class, right, that's just uh, that
says how it is so far.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
You know that you know the great philosopher. His name
is Chris Crawford. You've heard that name before, right, No,
never heard of I love that now, Andrews, you do
you do Anders? You should do post cast with him?
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Yeah, I think that'd be good.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
I did, Joe. I did reach out to Chris today
and I just said because I was listening to our
Midday guy before me and and he was getting pretty
harsh on Dan Wilson. And I'm not I don't want
to put words of his mouth. He didn't say fire
Dan wilsonor anything like that, but he just he's questioning
Dan Wilson as a manager and where he ranks and
things like that. And you know, the Mariners get you know,
beat two to one last night. They have two hits
(13:24):
on Cal solo home run and then Randy hit later
and that was it. Offense is struggling and what have you?
And I just asked Chris because I'm just curious because
you know, a lot of times, you know, all we
can't talk about that. Listen, games are played every night,
and if you're a fan, you kind of want to
discuss what you're seeing. You just talked about one of
the things out there, and that's kind of this compacted,
this compacted thing. But I thought what Chris said was interesting.
(13:45):
He says, listen, it's it is. You know, it is
very early and all those things, but the one thing
you can look at is games in April matter as
much as games in August and September. And the Mariners
are a good example of that. Last year they had
to play game six and seven in the ALCS in Toronto.
Why because slow start, and they finished four games behind
(14:07):
the Blue Jays. So I ask you this, Joe she
and you're sitting there, your Mariner fans are saying, I
know we're told not to be worried or not worried,
yet we're not worried. But what should we be thinking
right now? With this baseball team that is four and seven,
has yet to win a series and can't hit the
ball yet.
Speaker 7 (14:25):
Other than Bryce Miller, they've been very fortunate help wise.
I've got to focus on that. Every players dropping all
around the league, and the Marinas have been pretty healthy.
You look at the offense, which has really been the
things that struggled the most. We can look at quality
of vatted ball information now over at baseball savon and
one of the things I was checking out today is this.
(14:45):
The Mariners have the fourth largest gap in baseball between
the quality of their vatted ball production and what they've
actually got the single, doubles, triples, homers, what have you.
So they're still not hitting well. They're nineteenth in the
leag you can expected way it on base average, but
they are underperforming their actual bat and ball. They're hitting
(15:05):
better than the results they're getting. I love Chris's point
about the games now meaning as much as they do
in September, because most fans won't tell you that. Most
meeting won't tell you that. You know, you get to
August September as well. No, this is when it counts.
I'm like, No, every game counts exactly the same, and
if you win enough in April, you don't have to
win quite as much a you know, you can put
this season away in September and you can cruise through September.
(15:27):
So these games do matter. Yeah, you mentioned the difference
between having to play games four and six and seven
in the ALCS last year. Yes, the slow start will
affect that. I did take the other tack, though, Chris,
which is actually the end, which is that everybody's going
to lose sixty games, and when you lose them to
everybody's going to go four and seven at some point, right,
you know, even if everybody's pretty almost everybody's going to
(15:49):
go to and eight at some point, you know, if
you're a Red Sox fan. So we tend to focus
on these numbers earlier in the season because if they're
all we have, right right, it's not a four and
seventh stretch in the middle of July. It's for oh
my god, we're four and seven. You forn someone over
the last eleven games. Likely as not you're going to
play better than that. You're going to hit better than this,
So I wouldn't panic. You mentioned Wilson. I criticized Wilson
(16:11):
last year. I don't think he's a great tactical manager.
You know, I defended the final decision last year to
use bizartro but up until that point, I didn't think
he was great at running the running the stack, which
is ninety nine percent of what a manager does. Now anyway, right,
they don't have the roster space for two in their
pinch hit there's not a lot of one run strategy.
So really we're measuring manager's tactics by how will they
run the books? And I don't think Wilson is the
(16:32):
greatest of that.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Joe, Johan dot Com, the and E listen. I bring
this up, and I think this is why it's important.
This is and this is weird for us as Mariner
fans out here. I'm concerned about home field advantage. I E.
I'm assuming they're going to be a playoff team, right,
That's that's so. These are these are the these are
the small things that we're worrying about. But it's not
(16:56):
a small thing because I mean, how nice would it
have been to have games six and seven at Team
Mobile Anders You were there, Jess, you were there. I
was there for one of the playoff games. It was insane,
like it was, I mean, it was so fun. Yeah,
the players fed off that they said that if you're
the Boston Red Sox at two and eight, are you
concerned there? Because that's a team we kind of thought
would be pretty good this season. Or what are the
(17:17):
things minus seventeen run differential already? Things like that. Toronto?
We know, we know Toronto's got all kinds of injuries,
so we look at them as well. But let's look
at at Toronto and Boston, two teams in the Al East.
How concerned should those teams be?
Speaker 7 (17:30):
I think he has to have these conversations independent of record,
the two and eight, four to six, four seven, whatever
you are, what are the actual things that we've seen
over these first ten twelve bays. I think Jay's obviously
the to the pitching injuries are really highling up Cody
ponksk led all Is ACL. He was the right handed
that they brought back.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
To the KBO.
Speaker 7 (17:48):
He was supposed to be a good you know, provides
some meetings at the back end. East Hurt Trey Yest advantage,
last year's UH rookie who was dominated in the playoffs.
He's been on the el to start the season. Now,
I'm not sure that looks like he's going to be
opera a little bit. I mean they the pitching injuries
are starting to pile up on a team that didn't
have a lot of great pitching depth to begin with.
We've also seen the offense slip a bit, and that
(18:09):
this was to be expected. Their offense last year was
really built on a lot of depth and a ton
of players who he really couldn't expect to repeat last
year's season, so I predicted the offense to be a
little bit off. So everything going a little bit wrong
for the for the Jays, you know, the Red Sox.
Trevor Story had the bounce back here last year. He's
been terrible to start, some of the young players and
(18:29):
Roman Anthony had a good night last night until asked
him to throw a ball and they threw an eight
hopper to the plate. So he's had some misches defensively.
Massella Meyer, I'm a little frustrated by his usage. I
would like to see him playing every day and staying
in the game. He's been purtued a little bit, so
I'm not I don't love how Alexcan has handled that.
Outside of therek Crochet, you know, the both the rotation
(18:50):
hasn't been a great for them. Gray BeO got knocked around.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (18:54):
You know, there's a great match up tonight Crochet and
Jacob Ziraski for the Brewers. Fantastic matchup the Fenway. So
they there are real things that, independent of the record,
are showing up with some of these teams. You think
about whether it's injuries, whether it's the fact of the
Giants camps field that's really driven there a lot of
them barks. Their defense has just been terrible. There are
real things that show up in ten days you just
(19:16):
don't want to overreact to.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
I mean, I would just look at the aos and say,
here's a good news. Your four and seven. You haven't
hit the ball well. Your key guys have yet to
hit the ball at all in the middle, you know,
I mean, whether the Nailors or the Julio's, the Cows,
those guys haven't done anything offensively. And yet look at
the rest of the division. It's led by the La Angels,
and we just saw that team. They're not good. Like,
(19:38):
that's not sustainable. We know that that's not so like.
It's not like someone's running away and hiding. And again
it's eleven games in and that that kind of jumps
out as well. I'm gonna ask you this question. I
was gonna save it for later, but I just I
am curious because historically two teams do drop off, right
like they do, like, hey, we had a great year
and something happens. When Baltimore went from ninety plus win
(20:00):
years ago to seventy five last year. Was that an
injury issue for the Orioles.
Speaker 7 (20:04):
No, it was that didn't hit issue. The focus was
on their starting rotation, which wasn't good to start with
and was poor as the year went on. But it
was the offense that was more disappointing than the pitching.
If you look at relative to expectations, you Gunna Henderson
slipped from you know, he had a very good realist year.
They sipped his great year. But a lot of the
guys they expected to step through, Adley Rutchman, Colton Coweser
(20:26):
didn't hit, Heston Kurstads basically lost in the miners. Now
you look at them getting only a half season out
of Jordan Westburn. All of the players that they had
said this is our core just failed to have good
years last year. So the offense really hurt them and
they went out this year. They went out and got Alonso,
They went out and trade Ty Taylor Ward. They traded
they acquired some pitching on the right, Chris Bassett, and
(20:49):
another starter in the rotation. So they went out and
tried to actually do it this year because one of
the frustrations with the Orioles had been that they hadn't
done this. They had this young cores not making any money,
and they didn't do anything around it. The one move
they made was the Corbyn Burns trade, which worked out
really well for them, and of course Burns left after
one year. So they finally went out this year and said,
(21:09):
we have to start spending some money and burning some
talent to get players around this core. So whether Michaelaias
felt like his job was on the line and they
had to win this year, I'm not sure. But they
had a much different offseason than we've seen them have
pretty much during this entire cycle.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Joshi and join us Josian newsletter brought to you by
Northwest Handling Systems. Joe, I clicked the link to the
Baseball Savant page. Are Baseball's dead? What's going on? What
are we hearing?
Speaker 7 (21:38):
Well? Yeah, I mean if you look at the drag
numbers at savant. It looks like roughly last year's distribution.
And you know, we'll talked about this over the years
the baseball, and they'll be took over. Rawlings took over
the production of the ball about four or five years ago,
and we've seen the ball slowly not fly as well.
I'm not talking about off the bat being like a
rabbit ball, but when the ball goes in the air
(22:01):
with the way it interacts with the air called drag.
They could actually measure this, which is crazy when I
think about waiting for like the Bill James book to
come out to have lusty righty splits back in nineteen
ninety five, the fact that we can measure the rare
the drag on the baseball is just astounding to me.
What it shows is that the ball still is not
(22:21):
flying very well. That's reflected in some of the early
season numbers. You know, early season numbers are going to
be lower than mid season numbers because games are there
are more games played in cooler weather, but a lot
of games are played in domes now, a lot of
games are still played in better climates. So it's not
just the early season weather, but early season shows that
the ball's not flying as well when guys hit it,
(22:42):
which is what savonn calls a barrel, they're getting much
less production out of those barrels. Those are the best
hit balls, so they're not flying. I was thinking about
the other night. Obviously what Joe Adell did was incredible,
but I can't help but watching that going, you know,
if the baseball flew a little bit better, that would
have been three on runs.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Okay, that's exactly what I was gonna ask you. Like
in Seattle's case, I mean, there's a there that all
of a sudden is the series win? Right? You take
the first two games of the series, and and one
of the things you can contribute to the biggest thing
you can contribute that to is a guy going over up.
First of all, I think it's just ridiculous. We have
like a wall, an outfield wall that's like three feet high.
(23:19):
But that's just that's baseball, Like everything's different in that regard.
But yeah, that kind of drag could that make That
could make the difference between what an extra foot or
two easy?
Speaker 7 (23:31):
I think it's one.
Speaker 8 (23:33):
The math is like one.
Speaker 7 (23:36):
Uh one hundred of whatever the measurement is in drag.
So if you look at that scale, it's like point three,
four point three, five point three six talking about very
small numbers yere, but one of those is equivalent of
about five feet on a fly ball, and of course
if any of those balls flies an extra five five feet,
it's gone.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
Now.
Speaker 7 (23:54):
The the factors that effect whether an individual flyball leaves
the yard or backspin and win at the moment, all
kinds of things. So I don't want to really make
this directly. If the ball was more lively, then barriners
would have had more rucks. But generally speaking, the ball
isn't flying as well as it did three four years ago.
You back, if you look at that let's said, look
at that drag leader board, you can see like the
(24:17):
baseballs in twenty twenty one were basically all outside of
the range of the base balls that were in play
in twenty twenty five. That's a huge difference when you
just have an entirely different set of baseballs. They pushing
them back to twenty nineteen and we were hitting you know,
they were hitting pool balls. Basically, they were they were
flying like crazy. To me, I think MLB has adjusted
too much in that direction. For this reason, the pitchers
(24:38):
are witches, and we still have a twenty two or
so percent strike got rate. If you watch any given
game now, between positioning and just lost skill, it's very
hard to get a hit on a ball and play.
Adding average on balls and play last year dropped the lass.
He was two eighty seven, one of the lowest figures
we've ever seen. And then you can't hit the ball
over everybody because the ball won't fly.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
You can't.
Speaker 7 (25:01):
It's hard enough to hit the ball when you hit
it them play, the defenders catch it and you can
it over their heads. Exactly, how are you supposed to
build an offense in that envirtment?
Speaker 1 (25:09):
That's just crazy. It's This is a discussion will probably
happen as summer goes on against some more big Thanks again,

you might even be free for people to read the
whole thing UH called absolute beginnings, A B S and
all caps. Joe, where are we with A B S
so far? What's pissing you off? I see some things
making you mad?
Speaker 7 (25:46):
Well, I just want to say, I'm thankful to be
the first person to ever use abs and caps with absolute.
And I'm sure nobody's ever made that joke before.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
You're the guy, got credit. You're the guy person.
Speaker 7 (25:57):
I'm not expecting me. I mean, this is this is
a better syst. And then we had I think the
biggest things. The focus has been on challenges and all
these pitches that just barely miss and everybody's all up
at arms. Oh I can't call that a strike. It
was in the strike zone. I want to know. The
focus has been on individual challenges and which catchers or
pictures are really good at it. And that's I'm not
saying none of that's interesting. But the two most interesting
(26:19):
things to me are this, hitters that aren't particularly hitters
that are not challenging pitches that are balls because in
their head they're thinking, do I want to burn a challenge?
We still have that gamifying aspect to it. And hitters
are not getting the full effect, full benefit of abs
because of the risks involved in challenging. There were eighty
number of times over the first ten days of the
(26:39):
season that I'd see at a hitter kind of almost
splinch what he wanted to make the challenge cap the head.
They didn't do it. So that's the first thing. The
same thing, though, is bigger and see for all of
the focus on pitches that are just missing or just
inside the zone, I think the biggest thing is we've
eliminated the pitch two inches off off the plate. That's
a strike umpires if they want to call it a
strike find, but it's going to get is gonna be
(27:00):
a good overturned. The pitches that were really screwing up baseball,
the ones that are just completely unhittable by any hitter,
are now going to be called balls. I saw Alex Freeland,
I want to say it was the Dodgers get called
out on a pitch two inches outside, and he immediately
and the umpire did like the whole plotzo thing, and
(27:23):
you could tell he was like prepared to do that
as the pitch came in and he just made a
big threely just tacked the head and sure enough the
pitch was obviously a ball.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
And that to me is the big thing.
Speaker 7 (27:34):
Right if the umpires now, the hitters now have a
recourse to all of these unhittable pitches that were regularly
being called strikes by these umpires, I think that's the
single biggest factor you're taking. That you're changing the relationship
between the pitcher and the hitter because so many times,
and you used to see pictures would get ahead, oh
one oh two, and just try to get that framed
strike two inches off the plate. And hitters now don't
(27:56):
have to worry about hitting that pitch, and that changes
the religion to a more fair relationship, and they have
a recourse when an umpire decides, oh I really want
to do my little, my little dance, my little punchy dance.
Well you can do a little punchy dance, but the
batters still going to be at the plate because you
didn't pay attention. You didn't see that the pitch is
actually a ball. So that's the part of it for
all of this focus on you know, like I said,
(28:18):
you see the graphics where it's like, ooh, it was
a strike by zero point two inches.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
I don't care about that.
Speaker 7 (28:22):
I care about the fact that pitches two inches off
the plate or two inches low can no longer be
called strikes with impunity.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Joe, is framing a thing in the past now.
Speaker 7 (28:34):
No, because again, hitters have to hitters have to think
about the value of a challenge. I think those pitches
two inches off the plate are part of the past.
But stuff that's close, you know, I think it's hard
for hitters, you know, not they're going to get that
wrong or it's going to be in that zone where
you just aren't sure. So I think there's still value
in catchers being able to present that pitch to the umpire.
(28:56):
As much as I say I don't care for framing
being part of the game, it is still going to
be part of the game. But is it going to
be you know, where Patrick Bailey is worth three wins
with his framing alone.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
No.
Speaker 7 (29:06):
I think those numbers might be reduced framing, which is
already we've seen the value of the skill narrow over
time as the worst framing catchers just aren't allowed to
catch anymore. I do think the range is going to
be eliminated a bit, as some of those pitches are
going to be reversed on appeal.
Speaker 1 (29:24):

that next.
Speaker 9 (30:26):
You're coming cracking good now? For example, do you want see.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
This is the daily power play.
Speaker 6 (30:47):

Speaker 9 (30:53):
What you crack?
Speaker 3 (30:55):
The daily power play is brought to you by.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
But just didn't Vori of Kabua Equipment in Kane County. No,
your daily look at the National Hockey League and the
seattlele Kraken with the Infernets.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
All right, idea power play your home for the crack
and Night three point three k RFM cracking tonight taking
on the Minnesota Wild in Minnesota, back to back games. Listen.
Here's the reality. They're done as far as playoffs are concerned,
not mathematically but realistically, six games, six games left, eight
points out. With six games left, the max points you
(31:33):
can get would be twelve. Even if you go six
and oher and you finish with eighty seven points, you.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Still need help.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
You need help that is probably impossible to get with
teams playing one.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Another and Anders mathod it for me. Earlier I was like, Okay,
I thought I got it, but now I really got it.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
It's twelve is your max. Again. You win out, including
tonight in Minnesota against a team that is playing for something,
and it's really good. Minnesota is forty four to twenty
one and twelve. They have one hundred points. They would
be the top team in the Pacific Division, but they
are the third place team in the Central which means
if the playoffs were to begin today, they would start
(32:13):
on the road against Dallas with one hundred points on
the season.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Oh man, and we'd have to get Sevy on again.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
No we don't. But here's the key. That's that's how
good they are in the division they're in, and they're
playing for something tonight.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
They need they want to get that two seed.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
They want that two seed something. I mean, they need.
You need it kind of in a lot of ways.
You really kind of need it. Lots of things have
gone wrong. We'll break that down on a different day
later on this year. Last night was a disappointment. You know,
I was kind of thinking back at Entergy did the
post game last night, but I was thinking back, March second,
(32:51):
was a second March second, they beat Carolina here two
to one. Oh yeah, they improved a twenty nine, twenty
two and nine. That was her second straight win, and
looking ahead at what was coming up after that, you're like,
all right, they're gonna get on a little bit of
a role here, Like they're gonna get on a little
(33:13):
bit of a role like it. And what ended up
happening they lost at home to Saint Louis, Ottawa, Nashville,
and Colorado, four straight losses at home after that win
against Carolina, and it never got better from there. And
so it was just it was just like, I don't
know what happened, because that Carroll, the team that played Carolina,
(33:35):
one of the best teams in the league that night.
That that team that played Carolina that day was was
something else. They were They were good, they were really good.
I don't know what it just it's it's gone south.
And I did see I was reading Animal City spect
for Dave Corbyn's guy Nick. The only thing is he's
(33:59):
key and others. I don't know how many times it
yells and this is again messaging. It's got to come
from not me, but because probably come from the organization.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
It's not Ron Francis.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
It's not Ron Francis running the team, guys, it's Jason.
It's Jason bottroll Is running the hockey team. So if
like Ron ran it for the first four years, this
is not the Mariners in Dipoto and Hollander, it is
not that at all. It's different. I know there's a
title that sounds the same, but it's different. Again, this
(34:27):
is all for a different day, but last night was.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
It's either a team that's run out of gas or
they've given up the and it's one of those two things.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
I think it's a team that just isn't talented by
that too.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Well that's okay, though, is it?
Speaker 4 (34:44):
No? No, No, Like, if you were going to say
they gave up, I would have the talent level, I would.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Be I would feel better about the franchise's future if
I felt like the talent level was there, they just
needed to get more out of it, which is not
the case. I I feel like it's harder to get
more talented players.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
It just is.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Maybe sometimes yeah, you lucking the number one pick, maybe,
but just saying.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
I'm told, I'm told that the top if you're in
the top four, you're gonna be in great shape. So
McKennon is obviously the key. But like like this is
you've top four, you're gonna be good. Hell, we just
saw a kid coming here was draft last in the
first round, Frondell. That just just like look at enters
in the night. My god. Yeah, he's younger than Berkeley. Yes,
(35:34):
you can, you can. You draft right and you do
free agency and trade right and you're gonna help you. Yeah,
but this is not about developing right now. This is
about getting better soon.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
This fan base needs this team to be better soon.
So I think it's just a huge offseason for the
for the front office. But again, tonight we'll be on
the air four thirty. Benton will be with you. I
think he's in Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
Still, he is in Minnesota, which is why I'm doing
post game for him.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
So, okay, and you are just a gem.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
Mike does Mikey drink coffee?
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Does I'm just kidding, I know he does.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
I'm just gonna say, you go from you got two
great coffee spots. Winnipeg's got Tim Horton's and Caribou coffee
in Minnesota is fantastic, Absolutely fantastic. Ribou coffee, Cariboo coffee
is fantastic. Yeah, so hopefully he's enjoying that. It's Mikey.
He's enjoying himself.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
What a little too much?
Speaker 1 (36:25):
Probably I blame him. My thought is an awful call
last week. I kid, I kid because I love, I
kid because I love Mikey does a great job, absolutely
phenomenal job. Did you mean that when you said that
on the air?
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Just cares, he gives, he gives.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
I would love to hear what you think I should
do differently, because I really am curious. I thought I
had a decent game, but maybe not the best. No, Mikey,
you did great. Nobody we are I'm just gonna say
this all joking aside. We're like to have that. Yes,
and he does more stuff in our station behind the scenes,
and people have no idea about that. You can imagine,
but nobody has. Nobody has more passion for what he
(37:09):
does in Mike and we love him. He'll be with
you from Minnesota. I like that, Actually, I think that's
kind of cool. We got a we got a pregame
show on site, on site tonight. Let's go. If you
talk to him manners, tell him to go find himself
a caribou cof a coffee. Alright, let's see, it's absolutely fantastic.
All right. I was gonna get something else, but I'll
do that. In the two o'clock hour, we got John Lens.
We think, what are the odds? Hey?
Speaker 2 (37:29):
I give him a ten minute warning.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
There's no chances on time zero just zero.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
I have faith today.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Zero, I always do. I four nine four y five one.
Will Lund be on time four nine four five one?
On the takumadage text line? Will John Lund be on
time four nine four or five to one? That is
the tukmadage text onne. We'll check in with him next.
Speaker 6 (37:55):
No from the Star rentals sports to us Jordan ninety
three point three kjr F sports head lies All right.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Headlines are brought to you by Frostbrewed cores Light. You
can go ahead and choose chill if you like. I
would like to, wouldn't we all would? Yeah's Mariners are cracking.
Both lost last night. Mariners are cracking. Are both in
action again tonight, cracking taking on Minnesota four thirty pre
game right here on KJR five o'clock face off, the
Great Mike Benton on the pregame show for you against
(38:23):
the Wild. The Minnesota cracking right now the fifth best odds,
that number one overall pick. What does that mean? Yeah?
The playoffs are not gonna happen this year. They are
eight points out of the final playoffs spot six to play.
We just went through that. No chance Mariners. Meanwhile, they
lost lost, gave one of the Rangers two to one.
They have yet to win a series. They can win
tonight that we's have a chance to salvage that. In
Texas they have two hits. One was a Cal Rowley
home run. That's the good news. Bad news is only
(38:45):
one hit after that. It came in the first inning.
The home run did Game two in texta day. George
Kirby angry at the world, will be on the mound
for Seattle and they need that. Oh, get him, George angry.
George is gonna go get him. Let's go.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Big news out of college athletics, maybe not a surprise.
John Harlowe has been named the new athletic director at Washington.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
State University Banger Move.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
He was the intram athletic director since last November when
he took over at Wazoo. So he is now the
permanent athletic director. It's the second internal hire in a
row by Wazoo for an athletic director. The last one
didn't work out. We'll see if this one does. People
seem to like him. We're gonna get to know him here.
When are we gonna get him on? Not tell? The
(39:29):
introductory press conference is until April twentieth, so that some
time after that.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
Yep, okay, good, Hey, Ian, I have breaking news. Farroway,
John Lund is on time.
Speaker 9 (39:42):
I bet and I won.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
I don't believe that for a second. Plays open, plays open,
and we'll see if he's there.
Speaker 6 (39:49):
Welcome Dan's weekly visit with John Lund Unleashed. He's a
Bay Area media icon who's known Ian for over twenty
five years. But don't let their age, Jane, you opinion
of them. John takes you through the Bay Area and
the NFC West and dupes it out with the in over, the.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Niners and the Hawks.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
So let's unleash it now with John Lunn.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Here's Ian. Well, let's try this again. I can't see
these guys because I'm on remote, but last week I
looked across through the glass window, and our fill in
producer Travis Moeger gave me this look of oh no,
shick shaking his head. Yeah. And Jess was left early.
(40:32):
She was sick. Andrews was doing the Softy Maller show.
I think God help me, and they said he wasn't there.
Let me see John, Are you there?
Speaker 5 (40:46):
H This is our Tom Broca. He is on time.
It doesn't happen very often, not hear.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Let me read some of it. Let me read some
of this. Let me read some of the text four four,
Let me read some of these. These texts at four nine,
four to five one for the two five three area code.
He's always on time. It's his own time, lunch time, okay.
A wizard is never laid me.
Speaker 5 (41:10):
In land alive right there, personal live. I should say, no.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
Wonder lot, no wonder why LN got fired everywhere he's
been laughing emotion.
Speaker 10 (41:21):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 5 (41:22):
But you know the show starts at two. You know.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
Although you know this.
Speaker 5 (41:27):
Tom Tolbert used to be my partner at KMDR and
he's a huge beer guy. And if there was a
beer release and it happened at three, it's just like Seattle,
you know, San Francisco's a big beer town. He would
just wait for the beer, like the beer would be released.
He'd show up like three fifteen, Beer League, Dude, I
can't be either at three like beer job because he's
a former NBA player, Like he's got enough money. Libres was. Yeah,
(41:49):
he show up like three fifteen. But the good part
was he'd always have coolers of beer and he would
bring extras for the crew. So we didn't complain, Like what,
I gotta do a solo show for fifteen minutes so
Tom could bring beer.
Speaker 3 (41:59):
That was fine.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
That's fine, Jeremy says, London two twelve. We should have
just done it over under so Jeremy says, London to twelve. Uh,
here's here's a time I asked. I said, is gonna
be on time? The four? Two five? No, the Pride
of Westwood one Sports will be late.
Speaker 2 (42:18):
Hey man, I was betting on you today.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
Uh and I won, Babe.
Speaker 5 (42:21):
Look if you throw me a backup producer, like, come on, man,
you're disrespecting me.
Speaker 6 (42:27):
There Ian is there?
Speaker 5 (42:29):
Well, if Greg Bell was there, I'd be on time.
I've never been lately, but yeah, yeah, kid, I'd be
there like one.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
Wait John John Percival London is on time. I just
lost so much blank and money.
Speaker 5 (42:44):
Yeah, don't bet on me. You'll bet for me to
be on time and I won't be on time.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
Oh well, I like that. So are you true the product?
Are you the product? Westwood won? Or is it Kevin Coogler?
Speaker 5 (42:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (42:56):
Harland does it?
Speaker 5 (42:57):
Kurt Warner? I mean, there's a lot of guys, but
I probably put my first in the packing order.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
I mean me, you know you probably should.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
Great, you know what was what was on the national
show today? What was on your national show today? Because
you're a big national so glad to be done.
Speaker 5 (43:11):
No offense to college basketball. But it's like, you know,
it's not March anymore. It's draft time and all these things,
and everybody wants to talk about Michigan's win. It's like, okay,
and Dan hurt.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
People mad about it because that's I do like laughing
how people are like mad about Like, well, it's just
a bunch of guys that got in the transfer portal.
Have you seen Indiana's college football team?
Speaker 5 (43:28):
It's like yeah, and that was kind of my rant today.
It's like get over it. Like that's like it's a
different way like my like you don't like door dash
or something like, it's technology. Man, it's the same way.
It's like, hey, they got five transfers. That's the way
he won the chant, Like what so what like that's
how things work. Now, what's a big deal?
Speaker 1 (43:44):
I mean, the only way that wasn't going to be
a team that had some transfers on it. I mean,
I guess Yukon's got Caravan and a couple of freshmen.
They're all right, but but like like unless Purdue one
and Purdue has Oscar Clough's he's a transfer, right, I mean,
so like go through the list, everyone's got everyone's got
trans and Indiana Indiana football gets celebrated and Signetty got
(44:04):
his whole team from someplace else, right, I.
Speaker 5 (44:07):
Mean, well, you know, And here's the thing too. Everybody
always complains about movement and sports and leland Ay and
cottonuity and you want every guy and it's look, it's
not the seventies anymore. And here's the reality, all of us,
all of us. This is what's so funny about it
is if we get a better opportunity, like we're gone tomorrow,
Like you want to pay me more money to go?
You know, as long as it's a great city. I mean,
that's why you are where you are. Like you, you've
(44:28):
never gotten a better offer, So there you are for
how many years you've been there, like twenty years. Somebody's
offering anything better. It's either right, Like most people, it's
like they're gone tomorrow. Like, Okay, your company doesn't have
a little too to you, that's there's no doubt about it.
But you don't have any to your company either, Like
somebody wants to pay you more money and you're not
under contract and you can go, You're gone.
Speaker 1 (44:50):
I think the bigger issue is just what you said, though,
is it because because there is no true contract. And
I brought this up just as a college fan, like right,
just as all your your school a joking aside, your
school is in the same conference new conference next year
as mine, the new PAC twelve. Yeah, and I love this,
like people like this. I don't know how Utah State
(45:11):
fans are you guys just lost one of your best
basketball players. Now the thing is Utah State hoops and
the coach. But you'll hire a good coach, you know,
You'll hire a good coach and you'll bring in good
players because that's because Utah State basketball. Literally and you're
gonna find this out in the new pac twelve. Uta
State basketball they're good. I think it's because I think
you bring a kid there, you see the full full arena, Right,
(45:33):
it's a big deal and all that. But that is
like I don't know how Utah State fans are. Here's
how Wazoo works. And just can tell you this, there
are those at Wazoo. Man, if you're not donating and
you're not helping the nil, you're a bad fan and
not and and my point is this, don't tell me
a how to spend my money. But b if you're
gonna tell me, okay, I'm gonna donate X amount of
dollars and are will use Ace Glass, who was a
(45:56):
best He was a freshman, one of the top freshmen
last year in the conference in the WCS. Okay, that's cool.
Is A's gonna be there next year, you know, and
developed for one more year because they were bad this year.
But all I like, no, he can take off any time.
Well what well, why would I donate money? Like, why
would I pay for this kid to finish twelve and eighteen?
Speaker 5 (46:15):
Look, I got to I know this is gonna be
hard to believe that I'm gonna use this term, and
no one's gonna believe me. But I have a friend,
I swear I do.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
You're talking to him. You're talking to him right now.
That's the problem.
Speaker 5 (46:26):
I know you are my only friends, but I have
one more, and he's he's a baseball agent. He loves
all this stuff. But the thing is, he makes a
lot of money off baseball. But they opened a full
division when this whole nil thing opened up, and he
had no idea what's going to be like that, and
he's making a boatload of money off nil. Having said that,
even he wants rules I got. We've had numerous conversations
(46:46):
because I know that you know, hey, I'm going to
bring up a you know I'm gonna do a radio
bit today. You know what are the insights this? And
now I've talked him a ton about it, and even
he is going, look, this is the wild West, this
is stupid. At some point there are going to be contracts.
But it's kind of the thing that you and I
have already have talked about before. But it's still really interesting.
Even a guy like that who's an agent and plugged in,
he doesn't know where to go? Like I asked him,
(47:07):
I go, well, where can they start? Where can they go?
Who can they talk to? How how can this not
be the Wild West so much? Who exactly can kind
of wrangle this thing in? And he said, I don't know.
Like I don't know, mister hand. You know, they don't
nobody knows who's in charge of anything, so they if
they can't even figure that out, this isn't gonna change
anytime soon. But you know there are people saying, look, yeah,
(47:28):
would be nice to be under a contract. It would
be nice because, like you just said, at a place
like Washington State or Utah State, these are stepping stone places.
So if you're a really good player, could you get
a kid to sign a two year contract?
Speaker 8 (47:39):
Hell?
Speaker 5 (47:39):
No, you know, you can hardly get him to stay
one year. And a lot of times this has happened
in football. A kid decides, you know, between semesters, like
unless you pay me x amount, like I'm not you know,
I'm not gonna play for you anymore. Like that's happened.
It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
The thing is is, it isn't if you're stepping stone
or not. I mean, every school is losing play. I
mean Kentucky lost their best player, Kansas lost a starter.
I mean, you can go through the list. Arkansas lost
one of their better players, you know, I mean all
these amri v is leaving Texas sky Clark sky Clark
at UCLA, he's he's leaving, he's in the transfer portal,
(48:15):
he's one of their best players. Like, it's just there's
nobody's I think my thing would be would be it's
just simple. You did kind of we joked about, like,
you know, no one's giving us a better offer. You
and I both have worked with contracts. We have to
work with contracts, yes, right, and and like it's a
one way street. But at the same time, the funny
thing is when people say coaches can always leave, they can,
(48:38):
but a coach in college sports, if they leave, they
have to pay or the school that hires them has
to pay the financial thing that they have to pay
on the other side. I don't know. I think I
think on the one transfer fine or you know, like
if there's a contract, I just it just there's gotta
be a better way. That said, I still think I'm
(48:58):
a big college basketball fan. I thought the college basketball
is better than it ever has been because of nil
because older players are staying. You know, guys aren't just
jumping to the NBA. And I mean I think back
to our guy Cglb at Wazoo. He's a local kid
from here. He went to the draft, early, left Wazoo early,
had one contract in the NBA, fleshed out, never to
(49:18):
be seen again. I think the basketball is better for
the for probably the NBA in a sense, but also
certainly for college basketball. It's just better basketball because guys
are older and sticking around m It's because they can
make money, and good for them. They should make money
in basketball and in football. Those are probably the only
sports they should make money because they're the only revenue
generating sports. Sorry women's basketball, sorry hockey, baseball, et cetera.
(49:41):
But they should make their money. I think John along
the way, but there should be some sort of parameters,
and I think we're still years away from seeing those.
Speaker 5 (49:49):
Yeah, we don't know who's in charge, and it's a problem.
But you know, if you are complaining about college basketball,
the baby and look at Michigan's roster. You know lindenborg
Is was their best player. He's twenty three. I mean,
he's in a class of guys that in the league,
like Jonathan Kminga now with the Atlanta Hawks, has been
around forever, like he was in the same class as him.
There's a number of guys in the league right now. Yeah,
he's twenty three. He was at Arizona Western for like
(50:10):
three years, then UAB, then Michigan. So, I mean the
reality is is that when you've got kids, you know,
a lot of their kids were you know, twenty two
to twenty three years old.
Speaker 1 (50:19):
Arizona Western. By the way, that's a that's a that's
a fun place. We have a a friend guy who
played high school basketball. My kid played at Arizona Western.
That's like, that's like, that's like a guy, that's what's
that you there? Ilujah man, that's happened. Get you, I
got you, I got you, I got no. I was
gonna say, Arizona Western, that's like a that's like a
(50:41):
country club down that's the greatest place to go if
you if you don't have another place to go. The
John lud joining us Uh, Okay, we'll get him back.
All we dropped off. Okay, that's fine. Well that's that's
probably our fault, not his. But I'm still gonna blame.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
Him for Yeah, let's just blame it on him.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
One hundred percent of one hundred percent of blame it
on him. I gotta ask him about It's a crazy
story that came out of the Bay Area. I got
to ask about his his two stations that he worked
with down there were a few. Is he back with us?
Do you hear that?
Speaker 5 (51:06):
Yeah? I don't know what happened.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
Hey, let me ask you this. I love myself a
little bit of pettiness in the world of sports radio.
Did I see Did I see this right now? People
don't know you worked at both sports stations in the
Bay Area? Did I see one station? Yeah? The one
station wrote and had an AI write a story on
their website for the Sharks, and the other station guy
(51:28):
just went off and lambased to them. Is that right?
Speaker 5 (51:31):
Yeah? So so the game I started there in like
twenty ten, I think they started there and it was
kind of a little brother station. And then and then
the other ones came there, which is a big blowtords.
So I guess that the first one that I mentioned,
they were they just do AI. So they're just doing
a bunch of AI stuff, which is like right now,
it happens all the time, but they did it in
hockey and it's kind of like, you know, you guys
(51:53):
are big into hockey now and really the Bay Area
just isn't as much celebrating. He's definitely brought it back.
But they got just doing a bunch of you know,
AI stuff for their for their hockey coverage, and one
of the and it was I can't remember exactly what
it was, but it was blatant. I mean it was
really blatant. And then the other guy from the afternoon
Drive show that he just started, he just went off
on them like constantly, and finally they changed it. But yeah,
(52:16):
they were basically just all their content was just AI
or just you know, the guys that were doing their website,
they just they were like and so they were throwing
a bunch of AI stuff up there, and finally it
had got on and people were like, what is this
like just a ton of inaccuracies until the other guys
are just going off on them, making fun of them.
Speaker 1 (52:32):
We we we have a thing now, our signature and
our emails is supposed to what's it supposed to say,
Jess guaranteed human, guaranteed human.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Yeah, you hear the heart beating everything.
Speaker 1 (52:41):
iHeartMedia garrant guaranteed human. Yeah, because people want to make
sure it's you and not just some AI thing. Like
it's nowt to do that.
Speaker 5 (52:51):
How about that that we have to do that? Now
that we they we actually have to do that. Now
that's amazing.
Speaker 1 (52:56):
Well, when when will AI just take our jobs?
Speaker 5 (52:59):
Like?
Speaker 1 (52:59):
Can you can you do like a fake job our jobs?
Speaker 5 (53:02):
You think a robot can could provide this kind of
high level entertainment.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
No, it's a good point.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
That's not possible.
Speaker 5 (53:08):
Yeah, there's no way. They don't have a personality like this.
They don't have insight like this.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
Maybe you know, come on, maybe maybe maybe maybe Softy
could an AI.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
Soft imagine I would take down the world.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
An AI Softy Can you imagine that? Hey, pal?
Speaker 2 (53:24):
Yeah, that's the end of us.
Speaker 1 (53:29):
That's the end of civilization as we know it.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
Man, Yes, that's a replication of that personality.
Speaker 9 (53:35):
Yeah, put that in the AI.
Speaker 5 (53:37):
You know, a pal and you know a bunch of
husky hawks stuff, and you know, like.
Speaker 1 (53:40):
That have to do that, And you're like, AI husky
Hawks wouldn't be too bad. So yeah, so hey, misery
loves Company. I see your baseball team is not very
good the Giants. What's going on down there? A college
coach and he's not good or what?
Speaker 5 (53:54):
I know this? Yeah, I know this is crazy and
I don't think everybody's ever done this, but uh but
they so they again like they're I'm trying to think about.
It would almost be like the version of like each
row if each Row became the general Ramaser, Right, well,
that's buster posed you with the Giants, like your best player,
right yeah, one of your best players of all time
comes in, he's the GM. Everbody's applotting. I was at
the press conference. Everybody loves the guy, and then he
(54:16):
does something unconventional like this, which is really San Francisco.
I can hire a guy from college, and I was
down at spring training for a couple of weeks. Guy
doesn't have a clue. I mean college football that the
NFL doesn't really work a lot of times. College basketball
guy to the n to the NBA doesn't work very much.
I mean the egos and all the things. But I
mean there's not only is it just the players are
dealing with, but it's just the game is totally different.
(54:38):
You know, you're not You're not in some park with
five thousand people. Man, it's big, big time, and he's
made mistake after mistake, and he keeps referencing Knoxville and Tennessee,
and it's hey, you look, hey, Toto, you're not in
Kansas anymore. Man, You're in the lease. We got, we gotta.
We have a third deck on this stadium. You didn't
even have a second deck at Tennessee. I don't care
if you wanted college baseball World Series with a aluminum bats, Like,
(55:01):
what are you doing? So yeah, I don't know how
to go. But it's it's ugly. The starts ugly. Man.
Speaker 1 (55:06):
Well because I bring that up because there's people here
already pissed off at Dan Wilson, the Mariner's manager, who's
he's yeah, I mean, I don't want to say, is
equivalent of Buster Posey because Posey, last I checked, has
a World Series ring. Correct. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean
a little bit different, but still like yeah, it's like
Dan Wilson is a manager. I don't know how much
you know. Dan Wilson doesn't. He gets criticized Andrews for
(55:27):
what mostly is the way he handles full pen decisions, right, which,
if I'm not mistaken, that's about eighty five percent of
what a manager doesn't today's big league baseball, right.
Speaker 5 (55:36):
Yeah, yeah, try to keep the clubhouse together a little bit,
you know, but hiring him.
Speaker 1 (55:40):
But a baseball like a baseball coach, head coach in
college baseball where you playday Friday, Saturday, Sunday and maybe
a squeeze a Tuesday game in there. And you're like,
it's a little different than playing every day and managing
a bitching staff.
Speaker 5 (55:53):
I would think, so, yeah, it's not even like you know,
college football, college, But I mean that's different, but it's
not as bad. Absolutely different is this? I mean, this
is not even the same thing. And this, I mean,
this guy, it's bad.
Speaker 1 (56:04):
By the way.
Speaker 5 (56:05):
Look, I'm not following the Mariners like you guys are
following the Mariners, but I always crack up when they, oh,
you know, it's his bullpen management. Look, players play coaches, coach.
Speaker 8 (56:13):
You know.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
I'm sure Dan Wilson's looking at the numbers. Everybody looks
at the numbers. It's an analytical game that everybody plays,
no matter how old school that you are. Players don't perform,
but for some reason, fans don't like to complain. You know,
they got a jersey of that player, so they don't
want to look to me. Look, a manager does a
certain things to a certain extent, or a coach does
things to a certain extent, but players playing coaches coach.
If the Mariners are struggling and people are mad at
(56:34):
Dan Wilson because of his bullpen management, then the then
the pitcher's got a pitch better.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
I think the one I think there was was, first
of all, I like Dan Wilson, so it's gonna take
a lot for me to kill Dan Wilson, Like I
really like the guy. And and I I think what
you just said is true. We were just talking about
that with our buddy Joe in the last hour. Most
of what a manager does now is based on the
little card he has, because it's okay.
Speaker 5 (56:56):
Telling you you can hate Dan Wilson all you want.
The front office is telling him what to do.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
I think he made I think the one that we
would all question, and was it Game seven?
Speaker 4 (57:05):
Was it?
Speaker 1 (57:05):
Bizaro?
Speaker 5 (57:05):
Was that?
Speaker 9 (57:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (57:06):
I think it was Ian?
Speaker 1 (57:07):
Okay, thank you? Yeah, I mean yeah, that was the one.
There was one, and it happened to be in a
Game seven of the alcah.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
For the chance the marriage go to the World Series
the first time in franchise history.
Speaker 1 (57:16):
Yes, wait, help me out. They haven't ever been.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
Nope, never been.
Speaker 1 (57:19):
Okay, yeah, that probably would have been it. But listen,
that's that's besides.
Speaker 5 (57:23):
I can see that one. I mean, every every team
has that, Like people are gonna know this something. I'll
give you a quick example. The Giants throw on the
World Series in two thousand and two and Dusty Baker
took the ball from russ Or Tees and put in
their closer in like the eighth inning, and he blew
the whole thing. And everybody complains that, you know, Dusty
took out Russertees, but everybody was gonna that's what he
had to do. Like, you know, if the closer would
(57:45):
have would have pitched better, wouldn't be so anybody.
Speaker 3 (57:47):
Left didn't put closer when he should have. Damn that
was that was that was right.
Speaker 5 (57:51):
But that's what I'm saying is like everybody does that,
Like everybody has a moment in their history of their team,
probably a handful of them that you know, you just
but that gets brought up all the time. And that
was like twenty five years ago, and and now with
you know, inter League Baseball, Like every time the Angels
played the Giants, somebody brings that up and it's like, okay,
we get it.
Speaker 3 (58:12):
Even you guys have won three World Series since then, Yeah,
they still complain.
Speaker 5 (58:16):
You know what, you know this, You guys know those
two And this happens with athletes. You could say, God,
remember those three World Series? You one and then they'll say, oh,
but that one we lost. I mean that's just that's
how they are, man, That's how teams are fans they do.
They complained about the one. Like somebody last night after
the game, what are the announcers was the dumbest thing
I ever heard? One of the announcers said, now the
Fab five can rest easy. Michigan won the championship. It's
(58:39):
like they didn't Chris Chris Weber. That was in Seattle, right,
I mean Chris Weber still called the time out like
Chris Weber doesn't get winning.
Speaker 1 (58:47):
Last night, Yeah, I love the redemption stuff. I love
people said that. People said that this year, like, oh well, yeah,
to beat the Patriots this year in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (58:55):
So I mean by now they want to in a row.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
That does team that doesn't well and it does not
cure the ills. Uh, it does not erase the It
does not erase the interception of the goal line. It
does not change that. It does not. In fact, if anything,
it makes it worse. You could have beat the Patriots
twice and have three Super Bowls, right, it does there's
no Yeah, you're right, Chris Weber is not going you
(59:21):
know what. Thank god, thank god they won. Man, I
love you, Dusty made. No one's ever gonna ever bring
up the fact that I call the time out again,
even though we didn't have any No one will ever
bring that up again.
Speaker 5 (59:34):
No one's ever going to replay. No one's ever gonna
replay Russ walking off the field, you know, after throwing
that interception and kind of looking back like did that
just happen? Yeah, the Richard that it doesn't matter. You
could beat those guys five super Bowls in a row.
It's you know, you still should have that one.
Speaker 1 (59:52):
The Russ. The Russ face was Yeah, the Russ face
was actually classic, walking off like what.
Speaker 5 (59:58):
He looked back?
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
Did I just do that? Oh my? Just going downhill
after this? But you know what, I'm a marry pop
stars and screw it. I'm good. You know you guys
I'll put my I put my first wife on Waivers already,
so I'm missing I'm out Wow Waivers.
Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
They always showed that picture of her with that big
horse face and get he's getting drafted and she's thinking herself,
I'm on Easy Street and he's like, yeah, no, yahr no, sorry,
already spent that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
Money right on that note. Yeah, on that note. All right,
well are you are you still on National this week?
What are you doing?
Speaker 5 (01:00:37):
Yeah? All week long from ten to one on Serious
XM three seventy five on on Western one Sports, So
tune in and then of course I'm on Saturday and
Sunday nights. Always tons of calls.
Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
Got the call.
Speaker 5 (01:00:48):
The guy called again for the Mariners because because he
I guess he heard that he was that we were
talking about him on the show and his stuff wasn't
nearly as good. I mean last week, I know Jess
missed it, but you know, guy tried to bring a
gun into a Mariner's game in a baby stroller.
Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
Woman brought.
Speaker 5 (01:01:02):
Woman brought two metal flasks and her brown was trying
to convince the guy that it was you know, it
was just the metal things on her straps. I'm like,
he brought up some new stuff. I was like, dude,
you know you lad with the best stuff and there's
you know, nothing better. It wasn't nearly as good. I'll
never call again.
Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
Come on, man, I rushed to his call.
Speaker 5 (01:01:22):
You know I've got like, oh, there's that guys for
the Mariners.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
What do you got this week? He so wait a second,
you've got You've gone from loving having the guys from
Seattle call to not now you don't like our guys from.
Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
You like the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (01:01:34):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:01:34):
Plus, it's look, it's just like this show every week.
You're only as good as your latest, Like, yeah, it's
decent content. I did tell him to not call again,
but I did tell him be better. Let's go. You set,
you set a bar, let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
All right, all right, people and Seattle be better on
Lunday show. That's right. You know what he didn't like.
I'm not I've been on a show for a while either,
so I guess it's all good.
Speaker 5 (01:01:53):
Oh yeah, I need yeah, I need you to be on.
Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
Let's do it.
Speaker 5 (01:01:56):
We don't even need anything to talk about. It's kind
of like this show, like we just kind of bounce
something to thing.
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
Not sure what.
Speaker 1 (01:02:01):
We just did all right?
Speaker 5 (01:02:02):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:02:04):
I did? I did all right. We'll talk to you
next week. See you see.
Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
I'll be on time. That are thank you, jam, Yeah,
we will.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
We'll bet on that, all right. I see you four
nine four five one, Tacoma Dodge text fine, we'll check that.
Coming up next.
Speaker 6 (01:02:21):
From the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio. Now
back to Ian Furness powered my Seapples close to sports Book, Snow,
Qualmi Casino and Hotel on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R FM.
Speaker 11 (01:02:41):
Dave Maller here, man, checking in with you and mister Fernash.
I don't know, man, I'm down here driving a freaking
Motley thinking about the MS. I don't know, baby, two hits.
Speaker 9 (01:02:51):
Two freaking hecksy you kidding me.
Speaker 11 (01:02:54):
I'd be better off to another Instagram segment of driving
with Dave.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
Baby, that'll be a go.
Speaker 11 (01:02:59):
I get the viewers up, tune into my Instagram.
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
I don't know, man, I'll talk to you.
Speaker 10 (01:03:04):
So Hey, I in Seattle sports guy here, checking in
with your Seattle sports In the battle.
Speaker 11 (01:03:11):
For the most disappointing team in Seattle, the Kracking.
Speaker 5 (01:03:13):
And Mariners ended in tie last night.
Speaker 10 (01:03:15):
That's the Kraken had two goals and the Mariners had
two hits. Also, your beloved Mariners changed the criteria for
getting a bobblehead. If you're a new pre agent signing that,
you have to have one hit on the season to
get a bobblehead. Needless to say, Rob Refsnyder will not
be participating, thanks Ian.
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
Indigestion.
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Oh save save the first one. We'll play that in
the bunk battle next segment. It was a pretty good
bah is ref Snyder? Has he still not had a hit? Correct?
Isn't it He only hits pictures from one side right?
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
Correct? He has one job that's to hit left handed pitching,
and he is, needless to say, not done that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:59):
So far year. Because you know the thing about the
Refschneider signing, Yah, didn't we spend time talking about how
he at least they didn't sign Tommy Listella this year.
Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
I put it as the equivalent of a J. Pollock,
You remember that signing?
Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Okay, all of those just I had this bad shield
go down my spine. What about what about Zebi the catcher, zeb.
Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
The guy we traded for Gino?
Speaker 9 (01:04:29):
Yeah, Sebbi Zavala.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
God Wrest signings in Seattle sports history or or or
trades or acquisitions. Yeah, they're not alone. There's there's something.
I mean, it was a long list. We can go Seahawks.
They've had their fair share. I heard of Rashad Penny
reference earlier. I wouldn't put Raschad Penny in that. He
was good when he was healthy. I would put Christian
(01:04:55):
Michael in that. I just saw a thing on Instagram, Yes, Rachel, Yeah,
Escort was just one of the worst picks ever, well
the worst one.
Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
Lee mcdowald Yeah, wow, Yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
Would put And so the cracking are not exempt. Mason Marshman, Yep,
that was a solid one there. Bots Uh yeah, that
we've all everyone's made their mistakes. The reason I bring
up Kristin Michael is I saw a thing today. Hopefully
every Green Speedway is not a big sponsor for us,
but if they are, understand you're a sporting venue, so
(01:05:30):
you're kind of open to criticism. They have like Kristen
Michael appearance coming out, Hey, come meet Christian Michael from
the Seahawks. Oh really, Like how long is that line?
Speaker 7 (01:05:43):
Like?
Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
Come on?
Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
I think you know what though, In all fairness, people
when they get to meet a professional athlete. It's kind
of like a professional athletes, professional athlete. Hey, listen, I'm
Sunshine Lillipops over here.
Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
Okay you are.
Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
No, seriously, though, it's like a Seahawks a Seahawk, and
I do think that there's not a Seahawks though right
there was he was, And I think that that is
actually a draw.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
For some people. Text four nine four to five one
on this co text line we were talking about the
transporportal earlier. He says, this is a high school sports
problem too. It's a crime and a croc. You had
a kid who never set foot in Washington before this
year's steal a title from our kids that grew up here.
It's so gross. Referring to the kid at Rainier Beach,
right Stokes. I don't gamble on sports to play fantasy.
(01:06:31):
I still watch as much more football anyway, and I'll
have multiple TV's with baseball all the same time at
the same time. Plus I watched as much hockey as possible.
Speaker 5 (01:06:37):
Good. I love you for love that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
You're also very much in the minority. You're actually just
a diehard sports fan, which is awesome, which is great,
and you you don't need all the other stuff. A
lot of people need the other stuff. Yeah, I mean
a reason to watch two of six. I'm not mad, Michigan.
Carry me to first place, my work bracket. I'm invested,
good sir, Yes, you are exactly that, probably.
Speaker 3 (01:07:03):
Fifty simply Seattle baby, let's go bro.
Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Where was this from? This is iHeart.
Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
They sent a link to everyone that one.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
You did get it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
You just don't look at emails and earned from the
kJ R staff, both of you. Hey, I am that
went to you.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
I just didn't do that one because I was already
in two other pools.
Speaker 1 (01:07:24):
Okay, you're probably right, and I think I am guilty
of that.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Oh Ian, this is a good one from the two
o six. You did not divulge on the polue. We
didn't have enough time in the Daily Palace.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
You just mentioned it in the headlines.
Speaker 4 (01:07:40):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
But that this person is asking about it because you
tease it.
Speaker 4 (01:07:45):
I thought. Was the crack and eulogy as Jess went
out of the sideline reporter and halftime chaser.
Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
Yeah, she's out. Jess is out. John Harle already fired
her out of the new GM or the new athletic tractor.
Speaker 5 (01:07:55):
Ri I p me.
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
They're going to replace you with somebody doing a cooking
show on a they used to be on ESPN, or
Yogi Roth one of their other two.
Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
Favorites guaranteed human folks.
Speaker 4 (01:08:09):
No, that was not the New Years, and I am
on a year to year and I always am a
privileged in the fourteen seasons I've gotten to cover them.
Speaker 1 (01:08:16):
I heard that. I heard Brank's going to push the
push you out.
Speaker 4 (01:08:18):
That's what I It would be the one. It would
have been Chazzing now before him. But now that he's
a wolf pack whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
They're going to have Jamie from the Food Network come
in because apparently she's a star.
Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
Ian from the two, five three. I know Ron Francis
is not in charge of player acquisition now, but he
was the one in charge for four years prior and
we have not had one player that would be considered
in the top ten to fifteen percent of the league.
So frustrating.
Speaker 1 (01:08:41):
Yeah, I take well, good point. Yeah, My point was
the story that Nick did for The Animal State's Beckcrash
Good made it sound like this year's roster was all
constructed by Ron.
Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
It was not as pots and the opposite of this
to us six. So Ron Francis had nothing to do
with anything, and as yet he got a promotion after
last year.
Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
Yeah, I think he got they need to address this,
so I'm just gonna leave it at that. As an organization,
he addressed this, but just to like let the fans
know who's doing it's not exactly Yeah, it's not Depoto
in Hollander. Let's just say that. And I think that's
what people draw to because which yeah, which makes sense
because the titles are the same. Yes, the title that
Ron has the same as Topoto and this Hollander and
(01:09:20):
bots are the same. It makes sense, right, Yep, it
makes sense. That's the crack and eulogy. We haven't given it.
We haven't quite given that yet. It's there, Jason Faraitek
trade one of the worst ones of all time, that's true. Yeah. Yeah.
And by the way, Jess is not out. She's gonna
still be chasing. I bet Kirby, you will be someone
you don't have to chase.
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
I feel he came to the Bowl game and he
wasn't even officially coaching team.
Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
Yeah, and unlike the guy last year, he might actually
look at you when you're doing halftime.
Speaker 4 (01:09:49):
You know what, though, there's something about that thousand miles
stare that I respected when it came to Jimmy.
Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
You are sunshine and rainbows. My god left your team.
He's left your team. You can you can be upset,
just okay.
Speaker 4 (01:10:03):
I would tell you if that bothered me, I would
tell you there was something about it where I'm like.
Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
He's all ball man, I love it got somehow we
brought up like what were we How do we get
into like the worst acquisitions ever? Because now I'm getting
Jamal Adams. You mentioned Kris Michael, Jim Jim mcelvain, and
we're getting all these coming in here right now. God,
Jamal Adams, that was a good one. Jim mcklevain, Yeah,
that was that was not good. Uh see someone's max
(01:10:28):
we bashed for us. I didn't bash him. I just said, hey,
he had that look on his face.
Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
We walked out the field and was like what I
mean at that point it wasn't And I don't think
he got nearly as bashed as Richard Turman did during
that game.
Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
Like you know Benoy, Benjamin's sonics. Hey, I had a
game or two. He was fine, big fella the clips.
Yeah he's all right, all right, we're good, were good.
Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
Yeah, the tornado is here.
Speaker 1 (01:10:53):
He's next.
Speaker 11 (01:11:04):
Dave Maller here man, checking in with you and mister Fernash.
I don't know, man, I'm down here driving a freaking
Motley thinking about the MS. I don't know, baby, two
hits too freaking hitsy, you kidded me. I'd be better
off doing another Instagram segment of.
Speaker 9 (01:11:20):
Driving with Dave.
Speaker 5 (01:11:21):
Baby, that'll be a go. I get the viewers up.
Speaker 11 (01:11:24):
Tune into my Instagram.
Speaker 3 (01:11:25):
I don't know, man, I'll talk to you soon, you know.
Speaker 8 (01:11:28):
Tune into my Instagram is something that I probably would say.
Tune into my Instagram?
Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
What do you give that out of a tenant? Are
you saving these?
Speaker 3 (01:11:40):
By the way?
Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
Yeah, I save those. We'll do the best of at
the end of the year, by the.
Speaker 1 (01:11:45):
Way, best best of the softy.
Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
I got yelled at for doing that driving with Dave
on I g for life. Oh yeah, that's that Tafe.
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
Oh you were actually driving, But was it mounted or.
Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
Were you driving with? Driving with Dave would be driving
with some.
Speaker 8 (01:11:59):
People say it fitting with dowfty. I mean you can
see the car moving. Wasn't a green screen? Last Chrisgan
does it all the time. Is his wife yelling at him.
Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
I don't know you're yelling at me.
Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
My wife's yelling at me. Every woman in my life
is yelling at me.
Speaker 5 (01:12:21):
At me.
Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
Chris Egan's wife's out selling a million dollar houses so
she could support Chris Egan.
Speaker 8 (01:12:26):
Right here, you going, Yeah, he's probably making nothing at
King five, Right, I believe I bet you every penny
he makes goes back to.
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
Union dudes over at King five.
Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
It probably does. The last one of these you did
was March sixteenth.
Speaker 3 (01:12:39):
I told you, I got yelled at.
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
I liked it. I like no one asked this important information.
Somebody asked from the on the text line, did Softy
ever take a drink out of the Levi Stadium?
Speaker 4 (01:12:51):
Uurinal?
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
Did you promise that if they won the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
I may have.
Speaker 8 (01:12:55):
Okay, I promise a lot of stuff. I I I
have to take a drink out of the Ernald Levi Stadium.
And I also need to get Leo Revos's name tattooed
to my ass. Why yeah, some big head against the Tigers.
That now seems kind of insignificant.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Well, as of Game seven in Toronto, they don't go
without that, so.
Speaker 3 (01:13:17):
It's not insignificant.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Wait, who's going to document that one?
Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
The tattoo artist?
Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
You want to come watch?
Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
Noop?
Speaker 8 (01:13:25):
I never said it would it was going to be
a real tattoo. It could be a head of tattoo,
right witness that. Maybe I'll just let draw Leo Revos's
name on my.
Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
Just gonna volunteer?
Speaker 1 (01:13:37):
Yeah, and just grab a sharp you will you.
Speaker 3 (01:13:38):
You want to do a hit or you want to
do a contest?
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
By the way, you probably you probably need it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:43):
Who wants to draw Leo Revos's name on my butt?
Speaker 1 (01:13:47):
Fore? You want to? We're taking volunteers right now. Wants
how much would you pay someone to take the drink
out of the urninal so you don't have to.
Speaker 8 (01:14:00):
They say that the urinal water and the toilet water
is about the freshest you can find.
Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
That one has a sign as long as it's been cleaned.
Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
I don't mind doing it. I don't know if I
really said that on the air, though.
Speaker 2 (01:14:11):
But I would do it if they enough people were aware.
Speaker 8 (01:14:14):
I think you're making it up now. I don't trust
the audience. The audience is mobilizing against.
Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
Mobilizing.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
The mom is coming after me. It's like the old
game of telephone. Hey you thing? Oh my, I don't
believe I said that on the air.
Speaker 8 (01:14:33):
I would I don't rink out of it if they
beat the Patriots, because I thought they'd beat the Patriots anyway.
Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
Yeah, that's just ridiculous. I'll drink out of it for
a world a lot of it, like you mill and weez,
a lot of eating the microphone for Russell Wilson's draft.
Speaker 1 (01:14:45):
If you can't bring.
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
You son of a bit.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
That I remember it.
Speaker 3 (01:14:54):
I got to give credit to Jackson because he told
me to say that. Just so you know.
Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
Jackson and then and and Jackson under the boss.
Speaker 3 (01:15:07):
Let's ask let's ask you what he thinks about that.
Speaker 8 (01:15:10):
You do you think it's time to uh eat a
microphone because of the Russell Wilson thing.
Speaker 5 (01:15:15):
Okay, that's pure nonsense.
Speaker 8 (01:15:16):
Okay, he's on the show tomorrow, by the way, So
I don't know Jackson. Uh yeah, no kidding, right, Yeah,
there's only walk where's Hugh. I don't know, blame Andrews.
Way to go, Pal wasn't me, It wasn't you. You
just said it and went just you can't that.
Speaker 1 (01:15:34):
You can't parrot something Jackson says, and not take some
credit for it. All right, that's fair. I often because
you're not interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
One of my favorites of all time.
Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
So I said, there is this lie.
Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
I got a lot more where that came from.
Speaker 1 (01:15:52):
So who are you gonna replace him with when he's
on the show with you?
Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
Oh God, I don't know, man, I can't even think
past today. By the way, jeez, you know Cluss again today?
Speaker 5 (01:16:01):
Oh you are?
Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
I pick us out today.
Speaker 1 (01:16:03):
Hey, somehow, you'll when you look at the text line later,
you're gonna see all these random names up there. Vin Baker,
Dan McGuire, Heathcliff Slow, Jamal Adams, et cetera.
Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
What's the topic?
Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
Well, I just randomly brought up on speaking of the Instagram.
I saw on the Instagram that I think it's Evergreen Speedway, right,
is promoting a big event. Okay, you got to come
meet you can come meet Seahawk, Christen Michael, come on,
gid you not You're a liar. And somehow it got
into like the worst acquisitions ever.
Speaker 8 (01:16:34):
Creek Sports has Earl Thomas that they're shopping like two weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
From now Earls and All Pro and won a Super Bowl.
Speaker 8 (01:16:40):
By the way, they also either have or had Kenny
Walker at their store since he signed with Kansas City.
He was supposed to do an autograph signing at Mill
Creek Sports and uh huh he uh, he is a
man of his word.
Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
Yeah, he's gonna be there tomorrow. Actually, all right, how
about this line up?
Speaker 8 (01:16:58):
Kenny Walker tomorrow, Mountlcome Smith tomorrow, Boy and Mafe next week,
Mike Morris, Kobe Bryant, Riley Mills.
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):

cute You're done forgot about it?
Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
For the mild mannered and marginally objectionable the Inverness this
is paddle day, saying so long everyone,
