Chill Manners lose Game two the Yankees last night ten
to five. They had a couple of leads in that
game and uh and they actually had the lead on
Tuesday as well.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Five runs score and you can't win.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
They just find ways to lose, the way to lose.
They find ways to lose. This is a great story
in Cuba, and attorney representing Commander's quarterback Jade Daniels and
formed LSU it can no longer use his name, image
and likeness, and said he felt profoundly disrespected after LSU
allowed cornerback DJ Pickett to wear his former number five jersey.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
It's not funny.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Cardinals rookie quarterback Carson Beck will sit out preseason game
tonight due to rebage. That's too bad. He played well
in that first game, that Fame game. Maybe it was
in the in the mix. Although they paid Persett, which
is just stupid. But we'll see. Sounders officially elminated for
the Leak's Cup action after two to one lost a

the show. He internests with you. What's up, Jake Bobo
sitting down right now. We'll throw the headset on him.
He's done the ciazillion times, one of the most sought
after interviews here at the Oh, that's not true, Budd
met b Are you kidding me? Seriously? You know that? No,
You're I mean now, I'm gonna tell you right now.

(01:49):
You got to run for your money. Who's who's up?
See see now you bought into what I just uh
new guy Bud Clark. Oh, he's the best. Bud Clark
is a talkerd. Clark is a talker that smile too.
Oh clear, does he have a bad day? That kid?

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Well, you know, playing in a Mike McDonald defense and
the amount of information that's thrown at you. I could
see him having a bad day too, but he doesn't
show it.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
He's good. Tyle Kotta Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, I'm
gonna ask you this because you you'll play along with this.
Jake Bob was sitting down with a Seahawk wide receiver.
Good to see healthy. By the way, we'll get tell
that in the second the So we had Tyle Cotta
on Andrews win was that? Was that during ot a's
or mini camps. So we had tie on. I had
not talked to Tye before and he was and he
comes on, he talks and I'm the whole time I'm

(02:38):
talking to him like, who does he sound like? I
look on our text on our listeners can texted at
four nine, four or five. One guess who everyone said
he sounded.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Like probably some Canadian.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
You said, you said Canadian like it's a bad thing,
but no, such a thing. Sean McVay. Yeah, okay, interesting.
You know they are a little raspy coach like a coach.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Gosh, his questions and some of these meetings we're in.
It's like, dude, we've got to just start calling you
coach Tye or something like that.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Is that his deal?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Like he's well hard knocks tells a lot. Uh oh, So,
like we've noticed this a couple of weeks, been watching
family and stuff and and and I don't know if
you've noticed this. Andrew's back in the studio when they
show like the auditorium and guys are coming in for
your meetings. He's a first guy in front row right there,
Tyle Katta. I mean, look at the situation he's in. Yeah,

(03:37):
it works. Yeah, you were probably you were probably a
sit in the front row guy back you know, Oh
my gosh. Yeah, well you have to be.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
You've got to be the guy that has all the
answers when you don't have necessarily all of the physical answers,
if you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Jake Bubbo's here with us.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
First of all, you are healthy, I am, yes, Hams
is the worst. You train all summer to a void
soft tissue in the first week of camp and then
you just get hit with one. And that's where we
were at. But uh, onward and upward.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
David McKenzie. That group that that your your medical staff is.
They're so good.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Ryan was Jeramee was in charge of my my rehab
and he's one of the best in the business, really
really good at what they.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Do that flies under the radar sometimes. We talked about
McDonald his staff and players all this. I like that
that group behind the scenes really good.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Right, Yeah, you're exactly right fully behind the scenes.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Have you been in that that cold treadmill tub that
even Worri was on on him Hard Knocks the other day?

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Yeah, unfortunately, I actually did that a little bit with
the Ham did that a little bit last year with
some of the stuff I was dealing with.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Is it as brutal as it looks?

Speaker 4 (04:47):
I mean it's it's honestly nice because the reason why
you're on that is because you can't run or jog
anything outside of the pool. So to be able to
actually do that, yeah, is actually kind of nice. But
once you're on there for ten to fifteen minutes, I
guess it's not.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, it wouldn't be the most fun of the world. Jake
Bobo with me, all right, So let's let's get to
your situation. Interesting off season? Oh yeah, win a Super Bowl.
Then all of a sudden, Jake Bobo's kind of being
talked about around like you're where are you going? Yeah,
what's going on?

Speaker 6 (05:15):
What's going on?

Speaker 7 (05:15):
What?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
How cool was that you ended up back here? But
just when you had other interests from around the league
it offers and things like that, Yeah, what was going
through your mind the whole time?

Speaker 4 (05:25):
I mean, it's a I don't want to call it
a stressful situation. It's a great problem to have as
kind of the way I framed it right where if
you'd have told me four years ago that there would be,
you know, multiple NFL organizations that are kind of vying
for for what you have to offer, I would have said,
sign me up. But again, when you come from a

(05:47):
place like this and knowing that you want to end
up back here, it was you know, there was some
stress involved. But I tried to take, you know, that
step back and say, wherever we end up, you know
we're gonna be. But in the back of my mind
I knew, you know, we wanted to come back here,
and what.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Is it about this place? Because if let's just say,
all things being equal, what is it about this? But
super Bowl ring is nice obviously, yeah, it helps. But
but what is it about this place? Is it Mike?
Is it a teammates? The facility? What is it about
this place? Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
I think some of it is you're you're looking at
it in the facility that we've got here, and but
but beneath that, it's it's the culture. And and if
you ask me how to describe describe that, it's.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Very very difficult to do.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
And in a few words, it's just a feeling you
get when you walk into that building. It's I think
as family oriented as you can get in the NFL,
as relationship oriented as you can get in the NFL,
which is known for me in a very cutthroat business,
and it is. But here they do a very very
good job of kind of combining that cutthroat side of

(06:53):
things with a little bit more of maybe the college
football not not really college college football anymore, but what
it was, which is, you know, we're we're trying to
create a family, family atmosphere here and go and attack
and win days. And when you combine kind of all
of those elements, it creates a very interesting machine that

(07:16):
has been very successful for us, and in the last
year or so and will continue to be.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
There's some recruiting that goes along in the process as well, Jack,
and I guess for me, I'm kind of curious about
that side of it because we saw you make some
big catches, big really big catch and and do some things.
You're a guy though in a league that's filled with
receivers and diva receivers that want to see the ball
a hundred times, you may not see the ball that
many times. Yeah, but you're a special teams guy and

(07:43):
you're a huge part of the running game. And I
know McDonald, what did what did Mike say during that process?
Because I know it's great to get paid and they
match the all those things, but you have to feel wanted.
So what did what did Mike say specifically? Or even John?

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Well, I think that's kind of the the the poll
of this place is like, it wasn't necessarily a conversation
that we had, John, Mike, frizz the receivers, coach, whoever.
They just create an environment where you know you're wanted.
So it's not necessarily anything he said to me or

(08:18):
my agent or whatever. But we both knew that each
of us wanted to get what I do back here
into this team, in this organization.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
It was value. It was cool and can you feel
that every day.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
I don't think that necessarily comes from verbal confirmation, but
they do a very very good job of all ninety
right now, all seventy guys when you get into the
fall of knowing their value and being being able to
create confidence and instilling confidence in that.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
The Jake with coach frizz we saw him on hard
Knocks and with JSN and they were kind of going
back and forth a little bit. Yeah, and that's just
the process. Tell us about him because that's a coach
and nobody really heard from before. Fans tell us about him.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Well, he's the ultimate players coach, I would say, and
and and that's very hard to find in today's league.
We talk about building relationships and stuff earlier, and obviously
he's got the football i Q and some of the
scheme stuff, but there's so much more when you're dealing
with receivers who have very big personalities. And he's done

(09:26):
a very very good job of coming in setting the
tone for who we want to be as a room,
creating an atmosphere and environment where everybody feels like and
is aware of what they add to that room, and
he does he does that in his in his own way,
creating relationships with each individual in that room. He's done

(09:46):
a very very good job of. And he knows when
to push and when to kind of take his foot
off the gas, which I'm sure I haven't seen it,
but I'm sure you saw the other day.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Those two go at.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
It in a very constructive It was.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
It was the two of them together and just talking
about terminology and verbage and some different things he wants
to the new offense. And it was a sided jasket
like it didn't come across as being the diva receiver
or he was just he's got a lot of that.
No he doesn't, but it was it was kind of
a cool little part to see him, oh yeah, kind
of go and they're back and forth and it was
a great interaction, and I just thought, that's collaboration. And

(10:23):
it also, I mean, here's the best receiver in the
NFL right now, huh and talking to his coach and
his coach like, yeah, no, this is how it's gonna
be and they're gonna do it like this. And that's
the other thing.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Friz knows when he can say that, Yeah, and then
when you gotta kind of gotta let Jax be Jacks or.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Coop be Coop or she'd be shed.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
Frizz knows all of us, yeah, very very well, and
he's done a good job of of getting to know us,
and he knows which buttons to push when.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
How's the how's the nuances of the new offense? I mean,
it's that same treaty, I guess, so to speak, But
even we got a glimpse of it, there is there
are some differences. What do you like about?

Speaker 5 (10:58):
What?

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Just what do you like about and sense of what's
new this year?

Speaker 4 (11:01):
Now? Yeah, we're uh coach Flurry Flu has you know
you're going to have your offensive coordinator is going to
put his his twist on the offense. Like you say,
it's the same kind of West Coast verbiage scheme. But
Flu has done a really really good job of kind
of defining who defining who he wants to be as

(11:21):
an offensive coordinator. What's he wants, what he wants to
do in the run game, what he wants to do
in the past game. We know we're continuing to get
to know kind of his personality, his style to the
point where we kind of know what he's gonna call when,
and I don't necessarily want to put a lot of
that out there, but you know, it's been cool to

(11:46):
watch him come in and we're running a lot of
the same scheme, but he's definitely got his own, uh
seasoning and spice on some things, which will be fun
to watch.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Jake bobble with us. Fourth year in the NFL. We
first met you four years ago. You said you never
could have believed four years ago you'd be in the
situation you were a last off season, people bidding on
your talents and getting a nice payday and this taking
care of you and kind of giving you a little
bit of stability maybe as well. But I want to
ask you about the touchdown against the Rams. Can you
just for a guy like you that just grinded to

(12:17):
get there and is doing a lot of the dirty work,
especially the line of scrimmage? What did that? What was that?

Speaker 8 (12:23):
Like? What meant?

Speaker 4 (12:24):
It meant a lot to be able to contribute in
a way that's you know, literally on the scoreboard. Yeah,
I hadn't done a lot of that season. Yeah, And
obviously as a as a competitor, you want to be
able to contribute to your team's success, and we were
having a lot of success, and my role wasn't, necessarily,
like you said, able to be viewed in that manner,

(12:46):
I guess I would say, And so to be able
to do that, it's cool, But at the same time,
you've got to keep that the mindset of whatever I've
got to do to contribute, what do I have to
do to help us win games? If I didn't catch
a single ball last year and we go ahead and
win the sup Bowl, and I do what I gotta
do on special teams in the run game that I'm
I'm in. So that's kind of my mindset now going

(13:09):
into this year. Like you said, maybe a little more stability,
but it's the same mindset. Go do what you need
to do to get wins, to score touchdowns, to make
tackles on special teams, and put our team in a
position to win games.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
The I mean it's the ring was gonna come down.
You got the ring came down, game down, the ceiling
came game down out of the ceiling. A couple more
minutes here with Jake Bob before we let him go. Uh,
let me, do you feel the love from the fans
that the people have for I mean, there's a group
of people here waiting for you, like it's you go
on the field. I hear your name called out as
much as anybody else. It is odd, and I mean,
but it's cool. Like so, I think part of your

(13:43):
personality you're very engaging. But I think, but what does
that mean to a guy that's like you just come
out here. You just said it's it's about this building,
it's about Mike McDonald, but it's about all these folks too, right,
I mean, what what is that like for you as
a player to come from where you were underrat a
free agent, to be now a guy that like everyone's
bobo j oh. It's so cool. It's so so cool.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
And all you try to do is make these folks
proud and and bring them championships and bring them wins.
And uh, to be able to do that but also
kind of have the the following that I have is
is very very cool. Now, would I like to be
able to make a few more more plays and make
make a get us a few more wins for these
guys this fall? Absolutely? Yeah, and and so that'll be fun.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Got right now? Oh dude, it's so.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
The problem is you're.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
Not getting a lot of uh. I think you're not
getting a lot of insight into that room because they've
got to cut basically everything that goes on in that
meeting room because you can't put the stuff that is
said right out on airs.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
If a personnel offensive player of the Year guy that
probably should go to the Hall of Fame, that's like
a coach on the field probably Yeah, yeah, I mean
I bring that up people and watch hard Knocks. He's
in in the in the offense, all.

Speaker 9 (15:00):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Yeah, you got this kid named Horton who's healthy. Yeah,
this kid. And then you got a guy Jake Bobbo
that like, okay, well we need a touchdown in the
NFC Championship gameble trust this guy in the end in
the red zone. Boom you get there. Yeah, and then
about honestly, for being honest, like seven guys will probably
battling for one spot. Yeah, it's a hell of a run.
That's a hell of a run.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
We've got some really the best parts of personalities. Yeah,
you know, we talked about a little bit earlier. It's
the best.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
It's coming to work.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
Those guys make that fun.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
I'll wrap it up to this. You got a preseason
game on Saturday. You're gonna play? Oh yeah, okay, oh
yeah yeah? Is that just I mean sometimes there's people
in the media, not me, No, of course not. There
are those uh actually calling the game for Compass Radio.
So I'm okay, I'm okay with you're not excited for it,
but uh, there're like preseason all this stuff. For you guys,

(15:45):
it's been two almost three weeks. You've been out here, right, yeah, Like,
are you ready to get out and see somebody else?
Like not have to deal with these guys, have to
deal with tyle hitting or something like that.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
And then he's yapping in your ear.

Speaker 6 (16:02):
Shut up.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
All those guys over there just annoying. The problem is
they're good, so I can't really sing him back to you.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Know, do you try to get done in the preseason game?

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Well, for me, it's we talked a little bit about
my my uh first couple of weeks of camp earlier
not being as a full participant. So for me, I'm
I'm looking forward to getting in there and banging around
a little bit and being able to put my body
on some folks that haven't been able to do because
I've been healthy.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah, so I haven't.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Practiced in however long I need as much kind of
I guess you could say grinding as.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
A little bit.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
Yeah, let's get let's get this thing going.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Well, listen, I love having you come by. Appreciate it. Uh,
it's are you gonna come to do a cracking game
with this jump on set with Can I get that
nailed down and you'll come back up and do pre
game with us?

Speaker 5 (16:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Absolutely, Yeah, we had you up there. And who else
do we have up there? Well, we gotta have you on
the set. I don't think you came on the set
with us, Yeah, I know, I don't tak Yeah, you
walked by. Hey, what's one of my dude, you can
come by? We had we had Barner came by. Oh
did he Well he thinks he's an offensivelignment.

Speaker 6 (17:06):
Well, I mean I think, at to a certain extent,
we all do.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, so he was there. He was with
all those guys and there were a couple of cores
lights that day till I missed out one. I know.
We'll get you out there for a crime game this year.
That's Jake Bubble will take a break come back for
four nine three point three kJ FM.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Now back to Ian Furness at the Virginia Mason Athletics
Center and our special coverage of Seahawks training camp, brought
to you by the Boweing Classic on Sports ninety three
point three kJ r FM.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
All right, four nine four five one. That's the COVIDATS
text line four nine four to five one. We are
out here at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center. Our coverage
is brought to you by our good friends in the
Boweing Classics, speaking of which we will be there. Go Hawks,
there you go. We will be there tomorrow when at
the Boweling tomorrow at the air In Classic. We'll be
there tomorrow at the Bowing Classic. I say we. I

(17:59):
guess just me, No Greg and no Softy, just me.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
Yeah, no me, because I never get to go on
those things.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Well, i'd love to have you up there. You're doing
a morning show. Fans stop by afterwards if you want,
Hey there.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
I might do that.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Actually, let's go. It is my wife's birthday tomorrow. Maybe
that's probably not a good idea. I'm just guessing that
might not be a great idea for you. And I
didn't realize this. I don't keep track of this as
much as others do. Greg mentioned earlier, I guess this
is the last day of fans out here today, oh
or training camp, got it?

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Which is always kind of a bittersweet day. There's there's
part of me that when we come out here, I'm like, yeah,
this is great having fans give you some energy to
do a show and mess around all those things. And
then there's part of me that's like, I kind of
like what it's a little.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Quiet, Yeah, the business side of things, right, it's just
a little bit less logistically, you know, an issue, but
we but.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
We have had a nice little mix this year of
you know, there's days fans are here days or not.
But I in general sense having the fans out here
there is a different level of energy on the field
for us doing so this is it. They'll they'll pack
up all the canopies, school buses will get parked until
they start taking kids to school. Rent and Landing will
kind of settle down and away we go. But great

(19:09):
to have Jake Bobo on. Hopefully we appreciate it. He's
just I love talking to the guy. He's a fun
dude to talk to. He's a great story. Undrafted free agent.
And you know when he came in here as an
undrafted free agent four years ago, started making plays right
off the get go, like from day one, was making plays.
And you know, the wide receiver room wasn't as good,
it wasn't as deep then. Obviously now it's we're just

(19:32):
going through. He's number five and they paid him, like,
they paid him a decent amount of money. And he's
the number five guy on this roster in the depth chart,
and that means there's if we assume they're gonna keep six,
there's like honestly about seven guys battling for one spot. Wow.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
And now you know what that sounds like, Ian, there's
seven teams battling from one wild card spot in the
American League.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Yeah, but that's the mushy middle.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
This is not the mushy It is the Super Bowl
champion roster right here.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
This is not the mushy middle. So uh at all.
But we want to go back. You brought something up.
I forgot, we forgot to talk about it. So of
all the things with hard knocks the other day, and
I'm glad we talked to Bubble about Yep, I do
like these these guys that don't watch it. I think
it's kind of funny, like, guys aren't watching it stuff.
I don't always believe him.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
To be honest.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
That's true, you know that, especially if you know you
were miked up. You're trying to look for yourself.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Right, Yeah, I don't. I don't always buy that they
weren't watching it and stuff. But maybe they were. I
don't know. Yeah, I'll believe Jake Bobbo because we like Jake.
But yeah, I would say that one of the highlights
the other day had to have been Marshawn and just
and being basically Marshawn. Yeah, like and no other way

(20:50):
to put it. He was being Marshaw and so he's
doing the Madden grating system. Is that what he was? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (20:57):
So they have ratings adjusters go out to training camps
to games that it's a PR play, let's be honest,
trying to build hype for the video game, right, But
their their official job is to like, Okay, I'm watching
this this player play and I'm looking at his ratings
and maybe he needs to go up in his speed
or down in his catching or what right?

Speaker 2 (21:16):
Right?

Speaker 7 (21:17):
Right?

Speaker 3 (21:17):
So, yeah, it was it was definitely a PR play
for Marshawn to be like, we got to get you
to a ninety, we got to get you to a ninety.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
And then his comment, my god, my favorite thing is
when he's talking to Tia Cotta and he's like, what
is with all these white dbs out here?

Speaker 6 (21:30):
Man?

Speaker 9 (21:32):
So good?

Speaker 3 (21:33):
So Marshan, Oh.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
My god, the most Marshaan thing ever Tylecott, who apparently
you know, now we knew he was a good talker
on the air, I didn't realize that title. Cotta was
the talker on the field as well. I got the
big scrap to the day with Tory Horton, Yeah, and
which was interesting. He got into that and and Bobo was,
you know, kind of talking about you know how Ocatta
is always talking. Man. Yeah, that the Marshan's I'm sure

(21:56):
there were people that were butt hurt by that too,
for him saying something. But it's Andrews, you know, the
world we want. I know, it's everything has to be literal.
But Marshawn actually is he might be the one guy
out there that he can say something if somebody, if

(22:16):
somebody else says something it's offensive, that's true. Marshawn says,
he was like, that's Marshaan whatever. It's so true, right,
It's just yeah, you're just doing your things. Uh, but yeah,
that was I thought that was that was. We didn't
even talk about the interaction with js Ann. Oh yeah,
Fris the coach.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Yeah, it's just I think it's just such a good
representation of while you have competitive atmosphere and competitive personalities
on this team and that want to be pushed, and
it's not like the superstar running the show that's just
gonna do whatever he wants, right. The coaches are going
to push him and they're gonna tell him exactly what
they see and like, hey, you need to be better

(22:51):
at this, be better at that. And Jays sends, you know,
push him back a little bit, being like, hey, I
didn't hear what you were saying. There was a miscommunication,
but that's what health the communication looks like within a
team environment. And I just love that representation to be
completely honest.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Well, and I think too with with you know, how
how it's portrayed and how we've kind of seen JSN
for a while. What what we've seen from him is
a guy that is just very i'll say, understated, kind
of quiet. Uh, he's not a he's not a you know,
like this isn't That's what's weird about this wide receiver

(23:28):
group is they don't have those guys. They don't have
those dudes that are just over the top boisterous. Like
you think of wide receivers in the NFL and you
think of, you know, the guys that are just look
at me, right, the look at me guys and oftentimes
you know, the devil wide receiver. They have a guy
that had the best season in the league last year

(23:49):
as a wide receiver and in JSN, and you wouldn't
really know it by the way he conducts himself. And
he's just he's trying to perfect his craft. And I
think that's what I saw in that thing, is you know, quietly,
behind the scenes, he's trying to get he's trying to,
you know, become the best he can be and do
it in a way as well that's I don't want

(24:10):
to stay aggressive, but it's like assertive, I thin think
is the right word assertive And and he he came
across that way. But if that's his grind, everyone else follows.
And I think the biggest thing here is the Cooper
Cup Edition last year. You know, Andrews and I were
talking about Gino Suarez off the air and Gino's Geno's

(24:32):
value to the Mariners his two stints here goes Now,
we know the home run, the big home run, we
also know other home runs, and.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Well, how about a third baseman that can play third base?

Speaker 2 (24:43):
And I was just gonna say, shocking and an underrated
third basement. A lot of people said, oh, he's not
the same third baseman used to be. Okay, but he's
still damn good. And but what Gino's value was was
in the little things. And there's absolutely no doubt his
value is in the clubhouse, like there's no doubt and
there's no doubt that the you know, this is still

(25:03):
the sign there that says good vibes, only it's still there.
And what Gino meant to this team off the field
was immeasurable, and we're seeing it this year. It's a
team that's lifeless. It's a team that has no personality.
It's a team that just is is there.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
How many times has Chris told us on Molly about Monday,
this team doesn't look like they are haven't any funny
right now.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
And they don't I think anybody watching a game can
see that. Well, I'll go to Cooper Cup for a
second Cooper Cup. His value to the to the team,
for Cooper Cup goes far, far beyond anything that has
to do with just catches in yards. Now, he's a
reliable receiver. I think he's a Hall of Famer, and.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
I think he's gonna have a bounce back year this
year on the field.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Personally, well, and you know, I just have have more
of a fact, have a more of a role. I
could see that for sure. But what Cooper Cup brings
you can't measure. You can't measure the conversations he has
with Sam Darnold and Mike McDonald and then all the receivers,
and then if you saw it watching Hard Knocks O
the Night, talking topoon right, and you know who's your

(26:03):
best corner and going through stuff with him like his
his value in that regard is immeasurable. You can't even
you can't measure that. You can't talk about that, or
you can't you can't really look at that and say, well,
he had forty five catches five hundred yard whatever it was, right,
that doesn't matter. I think those are the things that
I think sometimes those are the things in Dave's sports
to get lost. To be honest with the Anders, like

(26:24):
we we talk about people rip on analytics all the
time and all those things. Listen, numbers are fine, Numbers
are needed. And if you don't embrace numbers in today's sports,
if you're not doing that, you're you're well well behind
the curve, like and you're well behind everybody else who is.
That's just that's just ridiculous that you're that you're not

(26:46):
embracing those things. But what you can't lose sight of.
We always hear the eye test, and there's true that's
eye test is fine. And I think I'll tell you this,
I I the eye test for me. When I hear
Hugh Millen talking about, you know why every snap of
every play for like e Manuel Wilson last year or
Jadari Price, things like that, like the eye of Hugh Millen,

(27:10):
I trust, like I trust that. I want. I want
to know what huc's on tape and on film. And
there's a reason you do all those things. But what
you can't measure is the other intangibles necessarily, and you
cannot forget that. Clubhouse chemistry, locker room chemistry, those types
of leadership, leadership, quiet leadership. This the personality is huge.

(27:32):
I think it's safe to say that you might have
dumped a salary and maybe you in the long run
will be okay because of the money you create for
next year. Whatever with with the Luis Castillo trade. I
just because he didn't speak great English and always use
Freddie as a translator. I think we get lost sometimes
as fans. What his presence meant in that.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Clubhouse was huge, especially pitching staff right, they loved him.
I love him.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
I mean I can think of the interviews because Softie
and Faint have what's his face Logan Gilbert all the time. Yeah,
And I mean he always talks about it like that's
you can't, you can't. And you know what, I'm gonna
go with the guy we just talked to, Jake Bobo.
He brings that as well.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
He guys.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
I watch how he interacts out there, the way he
carries himself, how hard he plays, the fact that he's
a willing guy to block and everything else. Those things
are massive. Those things are massive, and and it's just
you cannot lose sight of all those things. This team's
got a tough This team's got a tough go all
right in terms of cutting some guys down. We'll take
a quick break. We'll come back, coming up at one

(28:35):
twenty today. You know Sarah's will join us two o'clock.
It's the return of Brandon Funston. All right here in
nine three point three kJ FM.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Now back to Ian Ferness at the Virginia Mason Athletics
Center and our special coverage of Seahawks training camp, brought
to you by the Boweling Classic Sports Radio three kJ
r FM.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
All right, we are back hanging out today at the
Virginia Mason Athletics Center. He in forness with you, and uh,
you know, I never know who you're gonna run into
or see you walk by, looked over and I saw
a guy from the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian
Football League. You may know him. All listening to our
station is the great Rob Rank from Fox Sports dot
Com at our NFL Draft Insider and he he was

(29:20):
walking by, said, Rant, you gotta stop by and say hi,
So Hi, how are you?

Speaker 6 (29:23):
I'm doing very well?

Speaker 2 (29:24):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (29:25):
Ian?

Speaker 2 (29:25):
I'm good. You've been doing the tour. How many teams
have you seen? Now?

Speaker 6 (29:28):
Seven?

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Seven?

Speaker 6 (29:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (29:30):
I just got back from the California trip, and that's
the you know LA Rams at l A Chargers, the
sevens of forty nine ers, Dallas Cowboys practice in Oxton, California,
and then the Tennessee Titans were there to practice against
the forty nine ers, so I got a little bit
of a of a feel for them. Denver Broncos, and
of course the Super Bowl Championshawks.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
So we've talked to you about the I think the
two LA teams, and I think that's what we kind
of discussed before. Let me ask you about We're gonna
see Dallas here on Saturday. It's an interesting matchup as
a preseason game that the Cowboys are here. The teams
play again in December, yep, on Monday Night Football, which
you don't always see that when you're playing a team

(30:14):
twice like so it'll be probably as vanilla as it gets.
But the Cowboys, if they would have had any kind
of defense last week last season, they would have been
Their offense is loaded. They've got a big time running back,
two great receivers, dak Is there, probably a pretty good
offensive line. Maybe a question at left tackle. What'd you
see from Dallas?

Speaker 10 (30:34):
You know, the Cowboys to me are similar in some
ways as the Los Angeles Rams, and then I think
if they're pretty top heavy, they have exceptional talent as
you mentioned, like on offense, the skilled position play right
for people wondering exactly, George Pickens to me is about
as physically gifted wide receivers or as in all of

(30:54):
the NFL. I mean, and his teammates Ceedee Lamb might
just be the best receiver in the NFL right there
with Jackson Smith and Jig But I mean, he doesn't
necessarily have that elite straight line speed or size that
that Pickens has, but he just gets open against everybody,
catches everything, and just phenomenal those top two wide receivers.
But after that, look, I like Ryan Flornoy, who's their
slot receiver. But after that, they they've got about eight

(31:18):
guys that are fighting for two or three spots. Interestingly enough,
the Dallas wide receiver coach is Junior Adams, who was
you know, Cooper Cups positional coach at Eastern Washington back
in the day was a UW who's an Oregon. So
there's a bunch of players that are fighting for roster
spots there. So I think that They're interesting that way.
They don't have the depth maybe that Seattle has or

(31:39):
some of the other great teams. I think that their
receivers are a really interesting positional group to watch. I
also think the defensive line they're they're their front end talent,
you know, it really is good.

Speaker 6 (31:51):
They made the splashy.

Speaker 10 (31:52):
Trade of course of Micah Parsons, but you got Kenny
Clark back, you know, in that trade.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
He's a really good player. Uh at the big defensive.

Speaker 10 (32:01):
Tackle of it, Quinn Williams from the Jets and another
trade those two are are ay shn Gary is a
really good player as well. So they've got some Uh
they've had back to back first round selections of edge
rushers Donovan Azeraku and then this past year, uh they
kid from u c LF male Kay Lawrence. So they

(32:22):
have a lot of young and just fierce talent on
that defensive line. But I don't think their linebackers are
a little bit of a drop off. Their their defensive
backfield is a little bit of a drop off, with
the exception of their rookie Caleb Downs, who I think
is a superstar.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
We watched him, you laid eyes on him, would you.

Speaker 10 (32:38):
Think, well, It's funny because Caleb Yes. And that's the
thing is that he was more of kind of a
traditional strong safety type at Ohio State and and so
he didn't have a lot of balls thrown in his
direction once he starred as a as a as a
true freshman at Alabama, and so he made that transition
to playing not only safety for Dallas, but also that

(33:00):
nickel corner spot.

Speaker 6 (33:01):
And they lined him.

Speaker 10 (33:02):
Up one on one against Ceedee Lamb, and again I
mentioned a moment ago I think, see Lamb can get
open on anybody, couldn't get open on Caleb Downs. And
that's the thing is a lot of people that was
one of the reasons why people kind of questioned Caleb Downs, is.

Speaker 6 (33:15):
He truly a blue chip player? Does he deserve to
be a top five, top ten selection. He was my.

Speaker 10 (33:20):
Favorite player in the entire draft at any position ian
so I was very intrigued to see that.

Speaker 6 (33:26):
I thought that he could do.

Speaker 10 (33:27):
It's kind of like Jadarian Price, just because he didn't
catch a lot of passes out of the backfield Notre Dame.
What I did see him do, I thought, Hey, this translates,
just throw the ball more to him. He's going to
continue to start in that role. Same thing with Caleb Downs.
He was fantastic in coverage, at least in practice. Against
the Cowboys, he had a breakup of a potential touchdown

(33:48):
from Dak to Ceedee Lamb in the back of the
end zone. Tho, it was just one of those plays
where it's like there's only so many people on Earth
who can make up the ground tip that ball away.
And I love the most about Ian is after he
tipped the ball away, he has turned with a CD
and just walked away like this is what I do.
This is not a reason to celebrate, and and Ceedee
Lamb and Dak Prescott.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
Looked at each other like, oh my goodness, and we've got.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
A guy on I love that because again, like if
they would they had a top five offense and a
bottom five defense last year. Yeah, and that's why they
didn't make the playoffs. You said something that was an
interesting term there, because I think it applies you mentioned
to the Rams as well, top heavy, and it's great
to have. I think, if we've been honest, that's probably

(34:29):
what was the downfall of this team in say twenty fifteen,
twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, right is you having to pay
all these big names, these big players, these superstars. What
has the price you pay is you don't have any
middle class salary cap wise, right, And then that means
your depth isn't very good. And last I checked in
the NFL, you need some depth. Is that what you

(34:49):
mean by my top heavy for those two teams?

Speaker 5 (34:51):
It is?

Speaker 10 (34:52):
And that's the thing. I do see that as a
real problem here with the Los Angeles Rams, for example.
I think that's what the team that the Seahawks fans
out for. I think the forty nine ers have that
they just of course is struggling with so much, so
many injuries. And I did, you know, I was a
little worried about that. I thought I had some you know,
some appointments set up with you know, massuses and.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Things right there exactly.

Speaker 6 (35:15):
I was nervous.

Speaker 10 (35:16):
Don't pull a hamstrings walk out to the car, you know.
But uh, yeah, it's it's just it's remarkable the number
of injuries the forty nine ers have had. I mean,
seeing George Kittle's sideline, seeing Christian McCaffrey silent, and they
were both I don't know if I'm getting away trades
that gets here, but they were both walking around just fine.
They looked ready to go.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
Yeah, and which is what I'm rooting for.

Speaker 10 (35:35):
I want to see the best players in the world competing,
and I think that's what the Seahawks want to They
just want to beat them. And so the forty nine ers,
I think that they have some problems in that way.
Top heavy, but also because they had so many injuries
last year, they're may be a.

Speaker 6 (35:49):
Little bit better prepared.

Speaker 10 (35:50):
The Los Angeles Rams, with all the moneies that they
all the money that they've allocated, obviously to Matthew Stafford,
soon likely to beat a Puka Nakua, Miles Garrett, Trent McDuffie,
whoever the case might be. They have such they have
the best maybe five players of any team in the league,
as far as R five against your five, But of

(36:10):
course there's eleven on each side of the field, and
that's where I think that there's the drop off.

Speaker 6 (36:15):
And so if they do have an injury to a Matthew.

Speaker 10 (36:18):
Stafford, a Puka Nakua, Miles Garrett, a Trent McDuffie, I
don't know that they have the depth that Seattle has.
To me, there's two teams that at least in my
tour of the NFL that really stood out in terms
of both top end talent and depth, and that are
the Those are the sel Shawks and the Denver Broncos.
To me, they look like the two again top heavy

(36:41):
talent as well as depth that if they did suffer
some type of a significant injury, they have the guys
to be able to step up into those opportunities.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
You told us people missed the conversation with Rob a
couple of weeks ago. You were telling us that the Broncos.
You were really impressed by the Broncos, really really impressed
by the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (36:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (36:58):
I mean I I still remain a bit skeptical with
bow Knicks.

Speaker 6 (37:02):
You know, you and I remember us.

Speaker 10 (37:04):
You know, we've been evaluating prospects together for so many
years now, and we could go back to the John
Elway days.

Speaker 6 (37:09):
It feels like, you know, but with bow Knicks.

Speaker 10 (37:12):
I mean, he's just struggled so much early in his
college career, but we've seen the improvement that he has
made over years. If he plays just even average football
at the NFL starting caliber quarterback, then I think that
the Denver Broncos are really set up nicely to make
a deep run. I just think that the rest of
the teams in the AFC West are good. I don't

(37:33):
know any of them are great. Maybe Patrick Mahomes can
put that Super Bowl Kate back on, but I'm skeptical
of that. I'm eager to see what happens in the
La Chargers, but to me, they have some holes as well.
But the Denver Broncos, to their offensive line is fantastic.
They have got a just a series of running backs.
They made the big splash of trade for Jalen Waddells,

(37:54):
so they have a true speed threat on the offense.
It's going to be able to just make their offense
that much more dynamic. And their defense in terms of
their speed, pass rushers and their cornerbacks, I think that
they're spectacular. So I'm eager to see the Brockles.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
You sound like you're ready for some football. I absolutely
am ready for some football, my friend. I like that.
I like that. I won't even press on. I mean,
you're bread and Butter's college. But we'll get to that
later on. Huh, we'll get to that. We got a couple,
I do believe, am I right here in saying this?
It's Today's the thirteenth, So it's two weeks from Saturday.

(38:29):
Is week zero in college football.

Speaker 6 (38:31):
Yeah sounds about right. Yeah, I'm excited for it.

Speaker 10 (38:34):
I just haven't done my prep the way I normally have,
just because of course, like I said, I've been on
the road for the NFL teams.

Speaker 6 (38:41):
My BC lines play literally tonight.

Speaker 10 (38:43):
Yeah, and so I am all into NFL trending camps
and the CFL regular season and college football. Ian I
probably should be doing more prep than I have, especially
with nil and guys transferring every other game, you know,
But at this point I am very much into the
professional football ranks, and I'll worry about college football when we.

Speaker 6 (39:05):
Get a little bit deeper in August.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
I won't press you. I know. If I asked you
about a random guy that plays for Florida State, you'd
give me as all his vitals. But I won't do
that to you today. I want a way for two
weeks to do next. I think Florida State plays Week
zero so against SMU if I'm not mistaken. That is
Rob rang during the season. Brought to you by our
good friends at forrellis Foreli's Pizza Frelispizza dot Com I'll
let you get out there. You've got Andrews. Rob's got

(39:28):
no book in hand. Excellent, he's making his way around here.
I'm not gonna tell you who he's got written down
on the notebook, but he's got no book in hands,
so he's got some work to do. We'll turn you loose,
and we made check in with you next week after
you laid eyes on this team in his first preseason game,
which is Saturday, and get some thoughts in the young guys,
because there are a lot of really good young players,
and the Seahaws are gonna play on Saturday, and there's

(39:49):
a lot of those young players that are gonna be
really baling for roster spots. So let's check in next
week looking forward to as he's got the red and
or the orange and the black on the BC. He
guys play.

Speaker 6 (39:57):
Tonight, A Hamilton, I believe the tire cat.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
Yes, let's go.

Speaker 5 (40:02):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
Anderson, you impressed by that that I knew the Hammerton.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
I am actually actually not. You're Canadian? Never mind, all right, You're.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
Right, Nathan rourkback.

Speaker 5 (40:12):
He is.

Speaker 10 (40:13):
Yeah, And that's one of the reasons why I think
that we're gonna make a nice little run. We struggle
with injuries early on, but we're as healthy as we've
been all season long.

Speaker 6 (40:19):
One two in a row, hoping they've making it three
in a row tonight.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Go get him. That's Rob Wrangle' take a break. Come back.
We'll up to you on the weird arena situation, well,
our NBA expansion situation, not with climate players for somebody else.

that coming up at one twenty with Ino Saras from
the Athletics Sounders. Last night getting knocked out a Champions
League play done, losing two to one to Chievus spectually
kids Cup not champions whatever it is, that doesn't matter.
I'm not worried about Listen.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
Mayked sure you know, just no, I don't semantics matter.
They do matter.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
An attorney representing Commander's quarterback Jaden Daniels informed LSUH can
no longer use his name, image, and likeness that he
felt profoundly disrespected after LSU allowed quarterback DJ Pickett to
wear his former number five jersey. Yep, I always listen.
I feel disrespected every day. But I'm not suing anybody's ass.
I'll tell you that right now. Otherwise, Anders, you'd be sued, sued.

Speaker 3 (41:33):
What did I do to disrespect you?

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Nothing. I'm just throwing you out.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
Not being impressed with you knowing the Canadian Football League teams.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
That's it. That was disrespect sir as DISRESPECTUS. Cardinals rookie

with fans here, is what I'm told for some reason. Yeah,
I think this is it.

Speaker 4 (42:33):
This is it.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
No more fans after today, but the great crowd, man,
I'll tell you. Let me just a quick shout out
Anders if I can to the Yeah, the fans that
have been coming here this year. I mentioned it last year.
Really the last I want to say, kind of since
COVID's been over. We had no fans here in twenty twenty.
I don't even think we had fans here in twenty

(42:54):
twenty one. Now that I think of it, I'm kind
of thinking back. I don't think we did. I'd have
to ask, but i'd have to fact check me on that, somebody.
I don't think. I don't think we had fits because remember,
you know, the whole time of our world was so
messed up, but we twenty twenty was weird. I look
out in the berm now and you know that whole

(43:16):
crazy time in our life when we were just getting
underway with the pandemic and you know, there was like
ten of us out here. We were doing live shots
for Fox on top of the berm, fifty yards away
from the players. Couldn't They wouldn't even let us be
out here like I if they saw me get close
to my photographer, they got like freaked out and they
were playing football, which was crazy. But we could do that.

(43:38):
We're getting tested every day down the back lot. That
was fun. Swab up the nose, good times, Yeah, a
lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (43:45):
Please, what's that? Don't remind us of that time?

Speaker 7 (43:48):
God?

Speaker 2 (43:49):
I know, but since really since COVID, the last couple
of years, we have not. It just felt like there's
been something missing out here fan wise. That is not
the case this year. That is just not that is
not in the case is year. These are our The
twelves have been here in full force. The atmosphere has
been electric, and it's just been and that's what you
would expect, I guess, right with a defending Super Bowl

(44:11):
champion team, that's you would expect all those things to
be the case. So last day here for them teams
making their way on the field right now, we'll kind
of keeping an eye on things. They'll have a little
bit of a walk through tomorrow and then the preseason
game coming up on Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys. So
at Loomingfield, and I was telling somebody that we're working
with on Saturday, wait till you see a Seahawk preseason game.

(44:32):
It doesn't I've I've been to a lot of preseason
football games across the country. It's different here, man. Our
fans are just flat out different. Yeah, they're just different.
They they come out, they'll support it. If you listen
to Softy, there's a lot of folks like that that
are season ticket holders and they'll give their tickets away
like Softy does to other people that don't normally go,
and so that leads that leads to still a full

(44:53):
stadium and yet also a lot of enthusiasm. So it
doesn't feel like a preseason game.

Speaker 5 (44:57):
Man.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
There's a couple of places that we went to over
the years where it's like, okay, it looked like a
you know, a MAC game on a Tuesday night. Was
Central Michigan and Toledo playing or something. So it's a
little bit different here. Along the way. One of the
things Jake Bobo saying he is gonna play if he
joined us and missed it earlier. Jake Bobo joined us
in the one o'clock hour. He will play, he said
on Saturday. On Saturday, which I would expect him to.

(45:21):
I don't expect in any way, shape or form to
see Rashid Shiheed, Jackson Smith and Jigba Cooper Cup and
probably not Tory Horton. I wouldn't think would play. I
think they're gonna kind of keep treating him with kid gloves,
but we'll see if he finds his way onto the field.
Maybe they want to get him some snaps since he
didn't play a lot at the end of last season.

(45:42):
But by and large, and we won't hear from Mike
McDonald until tomorrow, but the premise is is they're probably
not going to play Starter Seattle, and it doesn't sound
like Dallas is gonna do that as well. So that
leaves you for a lot of guys battling for roster spots,
which would be kind of fun as well. I'll tell
you what we met this yesterday and we'll replay it
a little bit tomorrow. I I really was looking forward

(46:06):
to this last year and it kind of turned out
to be I don't want to say a disappointment, but
it wasn't what I was hoping to see this year.
I think different. We're gonna I'm expecting and hoping and
excited to see Jalen Milroe. And we talked about that
with Hugh Millan yesterday. Uh see what, see what he's
all about? See what See what Jaln Milroe has done.
We've watched him in practice. There is absolutely no doubt

(46:28):
he has improved. Uh there's no and and you know
the the Humillan quarterback one on one throw what to
the right person on time, on time, accurately, accurately. Okay,
Well he's been doing that a hell of a lot
more this year than he did last year. So I'm
excited to see what he did does against another team

(46:49):
in a stadium setting, on a field, in real football game,
real football being preseason. Because I think Milroe, I I
don't think, I know, they really want to see him
take a forward step this year. They drew Locks, got
one year left, and then do you bring him back?
I think I in an ideal world, you'd like to

(47:11):
save a little bit of money and have Milroe be
your backup next year? Is Sam Darnold? Yeah, but you're
not gonna do that with a team that's a perennial
contender if you can't trust the guy to be your backup. Now,
the good thing is they've got three years left of
Milrow under contract, right second year of a deal that
was not a first round pick, so they're not paying
him a lot rookie contract. Three years of control left,

(47:32):
so they got some time to work with here. But
I know they want to see him get better. And
I'll just tell you how important the backup quarterback position is.
If Dak Prescott goes down again, and he has gone
down in his career, Dallas is being trouble because I
don't think Joe Milton is all that, and Sam Howel's
kind of backup. Well, their depth will be interesting to

(47:54):
see on Saturday, but it's it's Joe Milton and it's
Sam Howell, and that ain't too good. So you want
to make sure you feel good about your about your
backup quarterback along the way. And I think Seattle obviously
feels great with Drew Locke. He'll get the first snaps,
I'm sure, and then after that they've got they got
Jaylen Miller and hopefully he'll play a lot this way

(48:15):
this preseason. All right, Uh, you know, Sarah's is going
to join us in just a couple of minutes. A
lot to get to with him. Mariner's scuffling along the way.
No matter what happens today, doesn't even matter. They've lost
another series. Uh six straight losses? No, yeah, six straight losses,
trying to avoid seven? As what was it? What was
the number that you gave me earlier? Oh wait, but

(48:38):
you stole that, you stole from Chris Crawford. Oh yeah,
you sent a postcast. Yeah exactly.

Speaker 3 (48:44):
The Mariners fired Scott Service when they were sixty four
and sixty four in twenty twenty four. If they go
eight to no in the next eight games, including this
game currently, they will be sixty four and sixty five.
So that tells you where they thought they were at
when they need to fire Scott's Service. And if the
eight eight games would tie their season long winning streak,

(49:06):
and if they still did that, they would be worse
than at that point in twenty twenty four. God, yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
They fired him. I believed August twenty second something like that.

Speaker 5 (49:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
Yeah, So it'll be a week from Saturdays when they fight,
which is I think back I was at Where was
I I'm pretty sure I was that still call me
Casino that day and I remember when that happened. I'm like, what, Yeah,
what Wilson Permanent? Yeah, I know, And but but I
think the bigger point of that is it was deep
into the season. Yes, like everyone's wanting this to happen

(49:39):
for a while, and we're not even that ain't happening, right,
and it's probably not gonna happen this year either. All Right,
we'll take a break, we'll come back Ino Sarahs from
the Athletic We'll join us where at the Virginia Mason
Athletics Center. Seahawk Training Camp continues right here in nine
three point three KTERFM.

Speaker 1 (49:56):
Now back to Ian at the Virginia Mason Athletics and
our special coverage of Seahawks training Camp, brought to you
by the Boeing Classic Bun Sports ninety three twenty three

Speaker 2 (50:10):
We're back here at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center. Seayawk
Training Camp continues last day for the fans out here
on the shores of Lake Washington. After this, it's just
us in the media and the players and the staff
get a little quieter out here, a little more business like,
But fans are out here today making their way out
in a good atmosphere for this final day of training

(50:31):
camp with the fans. Easy practice tomorrow, and then they
have the first preseason game coming up on Saturday, five
o'clock at Looming Field against the Dallas Cowboys in what
promises to be a battle of backups on Saturday. But
in the case of Seattle, some guys that are very
much on the bubble and there's not a lot of
roster spots available for the defending Super Bowl champions. Dallas

(50:53):
has a few more opportunities for guys than Seattle does,
so it should be fun on Saturday. All right, let's
get to it, little baseball. You know, Sarah standing by.
It's time for our weekly visit with Eno sarahs of

and Barrels podcast as well. Hello sir, how are you?

Speaker 9 (51:48):
I'm doing better than mariners right now.

Speaker 2 (51:52):
We're gonna get to them in a second. Trust me. Hey,
I gotta we you know, segment brought to you by
our friends of Georgetown Brewing. And I've got a you know,
I got to do a shameless self promoting plug here
if I can with you on so a week and
you know what it is? You know what a week
from tomorrow is? Anders right?

Speaker 5 (52:10):
I do do?

Speaker 7 (52:12):
I do?

Speaker 2 (52:13):
I know what a week from tomorrow at Georgetown Brewing.

Speaker 3 (52:15):
Oh yeah, the Mayor I pa it is coming out.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
A week from tomorrow, the Mayor IPA.

Speaker 5 (52:22):
You know, I do A.

Speaker 2 (52:23):
I don't have anything to do with it except for
it's nicknamed after it's named after my nickname, and also
the charity that we do called the Mayor of Maple
Valley Golf Tournament open.

Speaker 7 (52:32):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (52:32):
They started brewing a beer Georgetown did called the Mayor
I p A during COVID six years ago. This will
and it comes out on Friday next week. It sells
out normally in about anywhere from seven to ten days.
Last year it was eight days. It sold out. It's
and I think you can attest to you know what
a good beer it is. Oh god, yes, it's phenomenal. Yeah,

(52:52):
it sells out really quick. And you know this why
we love our friends at Georgetown. Every cent they donate
every cent. It's not ten percent, not five lot of
I hear a lot of people. Oh ten percent of
the beers go to this.

Speaker 8 (53:02):
No.

Speaker 2 (53:02):
No, they donate the equipment, the all the ingredients, the time,
the labor, everything. It all goes directly to our three charities,
Lensky's Hope, Avery Huffman, DIPG, and the Jordan Morris Foundation
for Type one Diabet. So next Friday we'll be doing
the show there twelve to three at Georgetown's a huge party.

Speaker 11 (53:17):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
And the beer is absolutely sensational, So join us for that,
all right. You know it's a beer guy. So I
had to get that out there. And they bring the Georgetown. Yeah,
it's so good. And it's a great man. We have
a great party at that brewery too. It's Andrews. You
were there for like eight hours last year.

Speaker 3 (53:32):
Yeah, I know I can. I can spend all day
there kidding me. Keep killing them up.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
Let's go and call the uber. I'm here all right.
I want to you guys did something on rate and barrels,
and it jumped out at me that and and and
I think it has to do with our baseball team.
And you did a podcast a couple of days ago
on it's called the Truth behind Boston's breakout and maybe
as much as anything on the offense. And we're trying

(53:59):
to wrap our arms around something here in Seattle, like
like the offense has just gone away. It's disappeared this
season cal Rawly specifically, but really as a team, it's
just disappeared. How did Boston turn it around? What's the blueprint?

Speaker 9 (54:17):
They got more aggressive in the strike thone and U
and so you know, I've been talking about how I
think cal Ellen do that because his plate approach when
it comes to swing at strikes and not swinging it
at at balls has been way off this here and

(54:37):
the easiest way to fix that is to is to
look at it, to be aggressive in the zone. It's
it's really hard, I think to tell one don't swing
at that. You know, that's like a it's like a
weird mentality. It's a defensive mentality. It's better to say,
do swing at this, like, let's focus on this in particular.

(54:59):
And I forget where the Mariners ended up on that chart.
I'm trying to pull together something here real quick. But
in terms of uh, of the strikes on, do you
do you feel that they are too passive at times
or well tatching?

Speaker 2 (55:14):
Okay, so I just watched Cal's last at Bad today,
and Andrews, I think you watched.

Speaker 3 (55:18):
It too, I did he now is one hitting one
this year?

Speaker 5 (55:21):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (55:22):
Yes, which would be and that's a that's a whole
different topic all time low. Oh yeah, but the watching
his last at Bad, you know, he looked at at
least two the last two could strikes he just looked
at like just passively looked at him, you know, and
he struck. He struck out on five pitches, and he
looked at four pitches and he just passively looked at

(55:43):
all three strikes passively And and I say that like
like and and and honestly hitting from the left side,
which is where he normally is most comfortable, and he
just he looked lost up there on the Andrews. Am
I wrong with that?

Speaker 5 (55:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (55:57):
I think you could say the opposite about anything outside
the zone. Chases everything two feet above the strike zone
far more often than we've seen him do before.

Speaker 9 (56:06):
Yeah, you know, so, I just I just ran the
numbers real quick. You know, this is the stat that
I've been talking about is zone minus chase. So it's
just how have you swing it's right, and how have
you not swing at it balls? And or how much
have you swing strikes minus how often you sing it balls?
And so you know, the higher than the number, the better.

(56:27):
And Seattle has the fifth worst number. It is right
there with with the Blue Jays who are really struggling.
The Royals are at the bottom there, the Giants are
at the bottom, and the Phillies and so you know,
the top teams at this the number one team the Dodgers,

(56:48):
Number two is the White Sox. The Braves are up there,
the Padres are good at this. So you know, I
think that is something you can do. And if you
look at the components of it. You know, they're kind
of messed up on both, which is that you know,
when it comes to swinging outside the zone, they're already
their second worst, you know, the third worst, and then

(57:10):
they're just not they're not. As like I said, if
you're going to be a team that doesn't know, that
doesn't have a great sense of where the strike zone is,
then at least the aggressive in the zone. That's what
the Braves do. They chase the fishes outside the zone.
But they just are really aggressive in the zone. And
so are the Dodgers. So you know, that's That's what
I would say, is like, hey, guys, the season's on

(57:32):
the line and we need to do damage on anything
in the strike zone. Let's hunt strikes. Let's be all
about strikes. Let's I won't as a hitting coach tell
you you've done anything wrong. If you swing and this
at a pitch that you could drive, I want you
to at least swing at it.

Speaker 2 (57:48):
You know what I mean exactly? It is that you
know serious for my Athletic Race and Bros. Podcast, Marriage
just did close out the game one nothing final. They
beat the Yankees. Today. Logan Gilbert and the bullpen were brilliant.
A solo home run by who Anders.

Speaker 3 (58:01):
Who Weston Wilson.

Speaker 2 (58:03):
Thank you, was the difference in this game. They have
eight wins all year. When they don't hit a home run,
they get they get a win. Today they snapped their
six game losing streak, but they still lose the series
and just kind of an ugly fashion to the Yankees.
But at least they had to Houston with a victory today.

Speaker 9 (58:23):
What well, I think it's kind of interesting if you
look at the last thirty days, like Naylor's come online.
You know, Rolders is hitting well, Cole Young is hitting well,
Randy Roseande's hitting well better yeah yeah yeah, and and
Ken Zona is you know, he's not his best stretch,
but he's been doing fine. He's had four homers the
last thirty days and been to the bubblygue average which

(58:45):
actually been missing, have been count and the role players,
so Western Wilson coming through today is a big deal
because you see those like that core of like four
or five guys are doing fine, and then you're like
Brandon Donovan, you know, like col Emerson, Taylor Ward, like
you know, I know, Luke Raley's hurt, but like Luke

(59:06):
like that that's the type of player. They need someone
to step forward because that's the type of player that's
that comes to play with people on. You know, these
other guys get on and then they then then one
of these guys that come out coming up to eight
and they have to come up with a big hits.
So I mean, it's not fair to put it all
on them because it should be the studs. But you know,
it also needs to be there needs to be an

(59:28):
unlikely hero of this August and September for the man.

Speaker 2 (59:31):
Well, yeah, today it was. It was a likely hero
in Logan Gilbert and an unlikely hero in Wilson with
the solo home run. But that it's I'm gonna ask
you just don't get mad at me, you know, because
I hope you don't get mad at me. Andrews. Don't
make fun of me. But I think this is an
important thing because someone someone asked me this the other
day and they and I actually was an asked. Was

(59:51):
playing golf with some guys and I hear this. I'm
so sick of hearing about approach, approach, approach, approach, What
the hell screw they approaches? Hit the ball? But what
you were just talking about, was approach right in terms
of what they're doing at the plate? Can you just
kind of give a one on one? And when we
hear that word, how do you define it?

Speaker 9 (01:00:11):
I mean basically, you know, swinging at strikes and not
swinging it balls. But you know, I think it's a
little bit more than that. It's about hunting, you know,
looking for damage. I mean, we talk about this, how
much power is out in front of the plate, and
you know, you know, so you have to be aggressive.
You can't just go up to the plate looking for
a walk, right Like. That's not an approach that works either.

(01:00:33):
So I guess another way that people talk about is
selectively aggressive. Yeah, but you know you've got to you
you've got to be up there to compete. I mean, guys,
you can see it. When the guy has no power,
they just fill up the zone and you know, you know,
the pictures aren't afraid of them. And then you know
that then they can't walk that hit or who had

(01:00:55):
a great walk right in the miners, but no power,
that doesn't pourt over, So you know, you have to
do damage. This is another way of looking at it.
I looked at all the different things that are correlated
to team's success. And we talk on moneyball, OBP right
and plugging and putting average and kin as b bing.
I just looked at a bunch of things, and right
now OBP is again, you know, the thing that's tightest

(01:01:19):
among the slash line. OEP is the tightest predictor of
of team's success. But slugging is pretty close. And slugging
and OBP are correlated to each other. They're related to
each other. You create walks with power, like you know,
there was this guy Chris Davis with the Sea. He
went to the Baltimore Oriols. He did not have good
walk rates in the minors. He goes to Baltimore Orios.

(01:01:41):
He hits fifty homers and he starts walking double digit
rates every year because pictures are afraid of him. So,
you know, you gotta slug. I think approaches, you gotta slug.
You gotta figure out what you can slug, and you
gotta slug, and you got to you gotta spit on
everything that's not that you can't slug.

Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
That's interesting. Yeah, And I see when we're talking about
Cal and other guys, Cal actually is Andrews. Cal's walk right.

Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Up this year, I think it's down. Let me, let
me double check.

Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
It feels like the only time he gets on is
a walk. And and I'm not trying to exaggerate or
e can be sarcastic. It just if and I'm wondering
if what you know you're saying with is fine.

Speaker 6 (01:02:17):
Yeah, it's like that there.

Speaker 9 (01:02:21):
Yeah, yeah, no, people are still afraid of him and
he still walks. But his zone swing rate is the
worst it's ever been. So he's that's where he's not
doing damage when he can do damage, and zone the
zone is where you do damage. The slugging percentage on
pitches outside of the zone is two twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
And that's like just anyone, right, not not just cal
That's the league.

Speaker 9 (01:02:44):
Yeah, yeah, that's the league. So dude, you gotta you
gotta swing your pitches in the zone. That's as important
as not swinging pitches outside.

Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
The max free pitch today And just like I said,
get up the solo home run and one nothing lost
to it gets the win. One of the things I
hear is we're talking about that which in the zone.
You know with Freed, if I'm not mistaken, he's got
like his arsenal of pitches. He doesn't have one that
he goes to. More like he's like the most balanced
pitcher in baseball. Like it's everything's thirty percent. He throws
this thirty percent, this thirty So I bring that up

(01:03:15):
for this reason. How much of that approach sometimes is
a guessing game for a hitter.

Speaker 9 (01:03:20):
Yeah, yeah, so that's probably what's happening with Rilly, is
that like he anticipated a slider in the zone and
got a fast on the zone. Like he he obviously
understands within the zone. Right, That's why I would tell
him as a hitting coach, be like, if it's in
his own, swing at it and and we'll talk about
why you were wrong about what it was later, you
know what I mean? Yeah, the aggressive in the zone

(01:03:43):
and if it means that you strike over it pipe
peaks a little bit. It also might mean that you
take you hit some dongs.

Speaker 8 (01:03:51):
You know.

Speaker 9 (01:03:53):
That is that is modern pitching. Though You're seeing that
pitchers have added an entire pitch type on average over
the last two years. So the average starting pitcher now
has over has over i think nearly five pitches and
it used to be four. So you know, it's it's
this whole like, I now throw three fastball, So you

(01:04:14):
expect one fastball, you get the wrong fastball. I throw
it in the zone. You expect fastball. Yeah, you start cutter,
I throw slider.

Speaker 2 (01:04:20):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 9 (01:04:21):
So it's like, yeah, free. It's pretty much the evolution
of the modern pitcher, because when he came up, he
was fastball curved, and then he added the slider, and
then he split the fastball into a cutter and a
sinker and a four scene and then he did this,
and he did that, and now he has, yeah, six
pitches he throws at all times, all of them and
the strikes up.

Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
Yeah, that was a thing I pressed. I mean, listen,
you got the one run, so but still an impressive win.
You get a win over these guys with him pitching
is good to salvage that. I thought Louis Castile was done.
That's what I was heard. Apparently h had a good
outing last night. Are the reports of the Rocks demise
greatly exaggerated?

Speaker 4 (01:04:56):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
Is that what I'm hearing?

Speaker 4 (01:04:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (01:04:59):
I mean I I was saying that, like a lot
of his metrics were just the same as exactly last year,
and you know, I'm surprised that Seattle. You know, more
people weren't like dude, he has bad stretches. He begins
this season portly and he usually ends it well, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
I just yeah, that's good for him. That's a guy,
you know.

Speaker 9 (01:05:21):
Yeah, and totally, but also just as on a team level,
you know, I think it makes sense to get out
of that contract next year. Every year you're a year
older and those months go a little bit longer and
the good times are a little bit worse, you know
what I mean. I mean, yes, he can have these patterns,
but as a pitcher, he was also obviously aging. So
I don't mind the trade that they did, but I

(01:05:41):
also didn't think that he was completely done.

Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
Mariners have a huge series coming up, massive series coming
up this weekend. They go to Houston for three. They're
still see the game a half game, US is not
playing what five games out? Enders right heading into Houston
erect after the win, so even a sweep, there's still
two games out. Let's talk about the Astros a little bit.
Is this just them getting healthier? What's what's going on
down in Houston?

Speaker 12 (01:06:07):
Uh?

Speaker 9 (01:06:08):
You know, Hunter Brown came back online, Hyden was Nancy
got healthy, So definitely you know, some something happening in
the in the pitching standpoint, you know, two Bays hitting
a little bit better recently, they're just you know, yeah,
I think they getting right. They have an m V

(01:06:28):
p uh in Euron Alvarez, and they've been sort of
moving the pieces around to figure things out. I think
the Dalton Barshall acquisition is pretty good for them. Christian
Javier has been has actually been pitching better recently, has
regained some of his stuff, so they've they're they're just
cobbling together pitching staff and and moving the pieces around

(01:06:50):
there their bigger figure and and E'lon Alvarez. I do
think that the general trajectory of the team is downwards,
but they're always danger because they still have some great
pieces there.

Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
And we'll see man as. We'll see Hunter Brown on
Sunday against Roade. Brian Wu who actually had a decent
outing the other day road Bryan Wu did against the
Yankees on Tuesday.

Speaker 7 (01:07:15):
The name.

Speaker 3 (01:07:18):
It's two different pictures now.

Speaker 2 (01:07:20):
Listen. He he didn't give up a run in that
game on Tuesday, good for him, but his pitch count
got so high so early it kind of they had
to go to the bullpen, and the bullpen was, as
we found out, a little short staffed, and so I'm
not going to give him all that credit, but at
least they at least he gave him a chance on
on Tuesday. We we've been debating this and and I

(01:07:40):
don't want to get in I'm not going to bring
you into our our sewer of Mariner fandom here, you know,
and by any stretch, but we've been talking on and
off the air like this. This team's been so massively
frustrating this year. And yet I know you guys did
a podcast on Rate and Barrels about like dangerous pitching
staff in the postseason, and I bring that up for

(01:08:02):
this reason. Is it still safe to say if Seattle
was to find a way to get in It seems
like a long shot now, but who knows. But if
they were able to find a way to get in,
is that pitching staff still a concern for other teams
if they had to face Seattle.

Speaker 9 (01:08:19):
Yes, Miller's been a little bit down, Hancocks, you know,
not as good as he was in the beginning of
the season, But that five guys like that means that
not only are they five really good guys, but if
George Kirby falters in the second inning, you're not going
to your bullpen necessarily. You do have a Bryce Miller,
you know. Yeah, So you know that's five. There's a

(01:08:42):
way that depth can even be a great asset in
the in the playoffs. And I don't think there's anybody
else who can go one through five and have his
quality at each position. Maybe there's somebody who has a
better ace or a better number two or whatever, but
one through five they would the uh, you know, a
top three rotation in the in the postseason, and they

(01:09:05):
could they could use Hancock as a super reliever, you know,
and to have a guy come out with that arm angle,
you know, maybe right after Kirby, right after Gilbert would
be pretty confusing into a hitter. So I think they
do definitely have where it takes.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
So they just they just got to squeak in baby
Houston for three. Then they go to Milwaukee before we
check in with you again. So a little bit of
a tough stretch coming up here. We'll we'll check back
in with you, you know, next Thursday. In the meantime,
you can find you know, stuff his work at the
athletic but also pretty much every day at the Rates
and Barrels podcast, tell folks about it.

Speaker 9 (01:09:39):
Yeah, today we did a breakdown on how to judge
a front office that maybe we could talk about that,
you know, oh god, we were focusing a little bit
on teams that have less of a track record, so
like the Peter Bendix Marlins and you know, the Posey Giants,

(01:10:01):
and you know, because Britt, one of our co hosts,
wrote a piece about Buster Posey recently. But yeah, you know,
Jerry's had a long track record, and you know, it
seems pretty like, it seems pretty solid that what he
said he wants to do he's done, which is to
build sort of like an eighty six win team every year.

(01:10:23):
And they've been pretty close to that every year and
they've been in it, but they haven't done the big thing,
which is, you know, the most frustrating thing as a
fan is to say, yeah, you know, we've had some
good years, but you know, we want the big things.

Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
You know, eighty six wins Andrews, what's the percentage on that, sir?

Speaker 3 (01:10:43):
It's lower than fifty four. I think fifty four around
eighty nine or ninety wins around that.

Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
That was that was the number yeah, yeah, yeah, it's
it's it's yeah, trustless, we're we're well well well well yeah,
eighty eighty eight wins would be fifty four percent. And yeah,
that caught the SoundBite that will haunt that guy forever
until they win a World Series. All right.

Speaker 9 (01:11:08):
But the thing is that's that is modern. That's how
a lot of guys think. I mean, that's why the
Tigers trade away Tarr Schouogl right, like they're like, we
want to always, we always, we want to be competitive
every year. And you know we're not the Dodgers, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
Oh god, we'll talk front office next week with you know.
I can't wait for That'll be fun. All right, thanks,
you know, we'll talk to you next week. My friend.
That's uh, that's into serious from the Athletic joining us
Frights and Barrels podcast as well. Great stuff from him
as always. All Right, we'll take a break, we'll come
back wrap up hour to don't forget Top of the Hour,
our guy, our guy, Andrews. I hope you have the

(01:11:44):
music in the open ready, it's ready, because we will
have the unofficial start of the weekend coming up today
at two pm with our good friend Brandon Funston. Stick
around for that nine three point three kter FM.

Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Now back to Ian Forness at the Virginia Mason Athletics
Center and our special coverage of Seahawks training camp, brought
to you by the Boeing Classic on Sports Radio ninety
three point three kJ r f M.

Speaker 2 (01:12:14):
Back here the Virginia Mason Athletics Center, Seahawks training camp continue.
The offensive line right in front of us getting some
work and the hard knocks, true is hard at work
with them. I don't know who they got. Might let's
see who they got were banked up today? Maybe bo
Stevens maybe looking at it. Well, they're focus and they
go a solo shot on a guy. Might be bent,

(01:12:39):
might be there, might be the offensive line.

Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Coach Ben not Mike Ben John.

Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
Oh god, I wish I had Softy's wallop. It's all
down heel.

Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
Anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Benders win one nothing and they snapped their six game
losing streak. They're still not good. Uh, they do get
a win?

Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
Yeah, do you feel any better about a one zero victory?
Ian Forness or Wilson was here.

Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Here's here's what happened. This is all you need to
know about today's baseball game. Uh, you got a solo
shop from West and Wilson against Max Freed, who deserved
way better. But Logan Gilbert was fantastic, Yes he was.

Speaker 8 (01:13:16):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
And then the bullpen was great. Yes, it was so
weird combination. But you scored one run in that band box.
Now that's the bad news. Good news is that's all
you needed. Good news is the Yankees didn't score any
you got but you got. But here, let's just say
it's a lost series. I don't know if you feel
any better if they would have won yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
And lost exactly does that matter?

Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
I mean, you fell one, you know, you lost two
of three, so uh more on them. You had a
note So we were talking to to you know, sirius
a moment ago. By the way, Brandon Funston's coming up
top of the out.

Speaker 5 (01:13:50):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
Got some sled action going on right now.

Speaker 8 (01:13:55):
You can hear it.

Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
Let's go. It's like NFL films in there, like that noise,
John Madden boom, just the.

Speaker 2 (01:14:05):
I mean, the just the power of these guys just unbelievable.
It's pretty really, it's really unbelievable watching these dudes. Anyway.
The the numbers are still ugly for cal Rawley. Yes,
another old for day to day. A couple of strikeouts,
looked just lost in his last at bat.

Speaker 5 (01:14:23):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
And you know Ino Sarah's was talking about Chris Davis
who went to Baltimore, had a huge year and then
a little bit of a drop off.

Speaker 3 (01:14:30):
Yeah, massive drop off.

Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
Actually Cal now hitting.

Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
Nine.

Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
Okay, what's your note?

Speaker 3 (01:14:37):
So Chris Davis, which is really funny how you know,
kind of brought him up without being a comp Yeah, right,
which I hope that's not the comp because after Chris
Davis had his massive season where he hit I think
forty seven or forty eight home runs, Baltimore paid him
and then he was never the same after that, so
fell off an entire cliff was known as one of

(01:14:57):
the worst contracts in MLB history. Is paid him a lot.
I hope that's not what's happening with Cal.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Sho do not.

Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
It's a very similar style of player too. Or you're
very much reliant on the long ball. So we'll see
if that ends up happening. But the funny thing is
catrawling now with a one fifty nine batting average, And no,
I'm not a batting average guy. I'm usually like kind
of what you know I was talking about on base
percentage is more of a you know, determining factor on but.

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
The but the reality is is it is it players
from now one hundred years ago and one hundred years
I had batting average? Is the first number of people
look at?

Speaker 5 (01:15:33):
Correct?

Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
Exactly is it is? It's the reality. And the lowest
batting average for an entire season for a qualified player,
meaning like an everyday player since nineteen twenty because nineteen
twenty before that was called the dead ball era, and
a bunch of guys had below one hundred batting averages.
It's just a completely different game. So since nineteen twenty,

(01:15:53):
the lowest batting average in a season is twenty eighteen
with you guessed it, Chris Davis with a one sixty
eight batting average. Wait, what one sixty eight is the
lowest qualified player to end a season for a batting average.

Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
Okay, so Cal's hitting one fifty nine, so he's nine
points below.

Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
And he is a qualified hitter at this point in.

Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Time, if he probably will be probably will be shut
down for some reason, right, Okay, So for him just
to get to one sixty nine, one sixty nine, yeah, nice,
Any idea. What that would take, I'd have to do
some more digging on the math he had, Like, he'd

(01:16:40):
have to get fairly hot, he would like, I mean,
the point, are are you at the point in this
season at the season now where like even today, it
took him to have an zero for four for it
to slip two points, Yeah, exactly, So for to go
up nine points, he's gonna have to have pretty good
strength together.

Speaker 3 (01:17:00):
Yeah, and again it was we haven't seen anything any
signs of that happening at any point at this point.

Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
But so what you're saying is is is there's a
good chance cal Rawley is going to end up with
the worst batting average in modern baseball history for an
everyday player.

Speaker 3 (01:17:18):
That is correct.

Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
Yeah, I don't even know what to say.

Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
You know what would be the most by that, you know,
it would be the most Mariners thing ever. By the way,
is if they shut him down with an injury or
something so that he wouldn't be qualified and so they
wouldn't have that stain on their on their history.

Speaker 2 (01:17:41):
Well, i mean, let's like you almost then you like,
if you're a Cal fan you don't want to see
him hit that, then you probably rooting for a ten
game losing streak where they do find a way to
shut him, like you know exactly is because they're not
doing that as long as they're in it, right and
they're still in it, so that is that is startling.
To be honest with you, me, I was gonna update

(01:18:03):
on the the NBA expansion stuff with the uh private
equity group. I'll be honest with me, there's nothing to update, okay,
uh it's it is just I'm just gonna use a
word I used a couple of times. It's sketchy. These
guys are not serious in any way, shape or form.
But I'll try to get some more details and updated tomorrow.
I'll do I'll just do that all right when we

(01:18:24):
come back following a very quick headlines, and trust me,
it's gonna be quick. You guys have been waiting for
it for a while. We're not taking phone calls day,
I should point that out. Okay, we're not taking phone calls,
not today. We're just doing We're doing fantasy football one
on one. But ladies and gentlemen, the unofficial start of
the weekend. He is back moments from now, Brandon Funston.

Speaker 1 (01:18:49):
Now from the start rentals Sports to us your nine
k j R FM sports headlines.

Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
Headlines are brought to you by Frost Rude, Corpse Light
Choose Chill. Mariners louse yesterday ten to five to the
New York Yankees baseball team. But today, Ladies and Gentlemen,
the Mariners were winners, knocking off the Yankees won nothing.
They snapped their six game losing streak. Weston Wilson the
difference maker for Seattle today. He had a solo home

(01:19:18):
run in the game. How about Logan Gilbert, He only
needed one run along with a bullpen. Gilbert approved a
nine to seven on the season, but he was sensational.
Six innings of four hit, shutout baseball, seven strikeouts, one walk.
And then Bizarto for Rare and Munyos came in and
them dudes were perfect in terms of not giving up

(01:19:41):
a run. Bizardo gave up a couple walks, but that
was it. Bullpen shuts him down one nothing. Mariners win.
They head off to the Houston Astros for a big
three game series starting tomorrow in the Lone Star State.
Sounders lose yesterday they're Andrews What was it again? Champions
Club Champions Cup that's it done over with emotional Brian Schmetzer. Afterwards,

(01:20:04):
his teams would beat up all year. Best coach still
next not named Mike McDonald the city he used to
be the best coach period.

Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
Along the way.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Listen, I'm done, I gotta get to it. He's standing by.
This is the first of many Thursdays this year where
we can say the following. It is the unofficial start
of the weekend since.

Speaker 6 (01:20:23):
Right on there's a long past. Here's side guy.

Speaker 3 (01:20:25):
He's the leading face of fantasy sports.

Speaker 2 (01:20:27):
Touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:20:28):
Even though you can't see him, trust us. It's time
Forrian's weekly visit with the athletics. Brandon Fundstone brought to
you by Georgetown Brewing Company brewing darn tasty beer like
Many's pale al bod. He's off fund and the new
Tavern Beer for over twenty years. Look for any of
your favorite local establishment, grocery store, or swing by the

(01:20:50):
Tasty and room with the brewer and Georgetown on your
home for the NFL Sports Radio ninety three point three
kjr FN.

Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
He's got a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
Yeah, don't forget Next week, Next Friday, to be exact,
the mayor IPA will be tapped at Georgetown Brewing. All
the proceeds going to Avery Huff and dip G Jordan
Morris Foundation or Type one Diabetes and the Lensky's Hope
Foundation as well. But you hear the music playing in
the background. All baby, it is time, It is time,

(01:21:22):
Brandon Funston. How are you, my friend?

Speaker 8 (01:21:25):
Oh it's my first air guitar of the year.

Speaker 5 (01:21:27):
I love it.

Speaker 8 (01:21:28):
Man, good to be back.

Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
Oh man, I'm telling you I am. And Anders can
confirm this is not just lip service. How it never
a day goes by once we get to training camp
for the Seahawks and we're out here to the Virginia
Mason Afltis and never does a day go by that
we don't have at least a few emails or texts,
I should say coming in? When's Funston coming on? When

(01:21:51):
can I get my fantasy football fixed? I need a
Thursday Fundston fix. So it's good to have you back
again this year, my friend.

Speaker 8 (01:22:00):
Yeah, it is time.

Speaker 7 (01:22:02):
Where we're you know, hot, going hot and heavy with
it right now at the Athletic And one of these
times we're gonna have to figure out how many years
this has been. I think we're getting close to it.
It's got to be up to like fourteen years. It's
a lot of years. A decade and a half at
this point.

Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
Crazy, I think, I think we are. We'll have to
off to go back in time. But you know, we
keep such great records and archives here are so good
that it's it should be fairly easy for me to
find out. So we'll do that along the way. Well,
first of all, before let's let's stop with the pleasantries.
I got it. Last time we had you on the air.
I couldn't even respond. All I know is there a
lot of shots being taken at Ian. That's all I know.

(01:22:38):
That's that's all I know.

Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
Andrews right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I guess he wasn't taking
enough of your advice there, Brendan.

Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
Apparently not, because the last for people missed it. Last
time I was on it was my fantasy football punishment
those guys. My group, my team league took the air
over on that Friday afternoon for an hour and Funston
was a guest and they basically it was a trashy
in session. But uh, but yeah, that's needed.

Speaker 7 (01:23:05):
But otherwise, as I said, you somehow managed to have
all your league mates do your job for you.

Speaker 8 (01:23:10):
As your punishment, which I thought was it was a
masterclass on.

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
Your on your part. And you know who that drives
nuts is softy like it just drives the nuts.

Speaker 11 (01:23:21):
Like.

Speaker 2 (01:23:22):
But here's the thing. Those guys there, they want to
do it again this year. There's no way.

Speaker 7 (01:23:26):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
I don't think anybody in our leagues are finished back
to back, last place finish it. So I just got
to avoid that this year. I gotta win the damn thing. Okay, this,
here's what we're gonna do with fun over the next
few weeks. Just for people that are new in season,
we take phone calls, start, sit, drop, trade, et cetera.
And we'll do text as well. That's in season. Uh,
but we're not in season yet. So before we get

(01:23:48):
in season, what we do and those and just when
we do those things, just know that, man, you got
to call early because our phones get jammed by like
one thirty, like a half hour before. He's on same
cast of characters, Mike at Men's, Ricky and Tacoma, basically
the entire town of Sultan Gregan Graham, Uh. Rob Rob
probably already like moping around, probably thinks his team sucks.

(01:24:09):
He has been drafted.

Speaker 8 (01:24:10):
He guys.

Speaker 2 (01:24:10):
So we have our cast of characters all year. But
it's great to have those guys, uh and great to
have fun stumble. We'll do all those questions the next
few weeks. We're gonna go today general and then we'll
go buy some do some position groups over the next
few weeks to kind of get you prepped up where
you go in the meantime, Brandon, I'll let you plug
it at the end, but I want to do it
too right now because you guys at the Athletic it's

(01:24:32):
amazing what you have for fantasy football. Just give folks
a little taste of what you got going on there.

Speaker 7 (01:24:38):
Yeah, I mean we have, you know, rankings glore from
Jake Seely, one of the best in the business at ranking.

Speaker 8 (01:24:44):
We also have a Fantasy Draft assistant now.

Speaker 9 (01:24:47):
Which basically put in up to five players and they'll.

Speaker 7 (01:24:50):
Tell you the draft. I'll tell you why gives you
a you know, we're gonna have that all over the place,
and that's going to turn into a waiver wire questioning thing.
It's of using AI, but it's not using AI. It's
just basically taking everything that we do there and it's
it's calling all the information and spinning it out quickly
for you.

Speaker 8 (01:25:10):
So it's, uh, it's a pretty slick tool that's going
going to only get better.

Speaker 7 (01:25:15):
We brought it in a couple of great sub stack
writers that were just Ben Gretch and Jacob Sanderson there
are and they have a they have a podcast together,
but they're really good and we kind of identified them
as people that we want to have voices on our side.
So we were bringing in some good new talent this
year as well. Excellent rookie class as they as they say,
for the athletic this year, and uh yeah, we're just

(01:25:36):
gonna keep cranking on stuff, you know, into the season and.

Speaker 8 (01:25:40):
All the way throughout.

Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
Soustin's in charge of all this. It's a great job.
I should just tell people the customizable rankings. You download
an Excel spreadsheet and you type in basically how your
league scores it, whether it's full PPR, half PPR, no PPR,
just all the way through. I did that. My son
and I were watching the first episode of Hard Knocks. Afterwards,
he already has he's got his draft order for one
of his two leagues, and he's doing he's already doing

(01:26:03):
stuff on as a sleeper. I think that's the one
they use and he was doing like a mock draft.
I'm getting all fired up, so I downloaded the customizable rankings.
That thing is one of the best tools out there
if you're a fantasy football But if you don't subscribe
to the Athletic, I would urge you to anyway. But
if nothing else, do it for the next couple of months,
because you guys have it all there, so go check

(01:26:23):
it out. And if you go to the Athletic, this
is how big fantasy football is. And you talked about
what a decade and a half we've been doing this,
maybe you can speak how much it's grown because I
went and you were working for other places before he
went to the Athletic. I go to the front page
of the Athletic and fantasy football is one of the
main taps that that tells me how important this is.

Speaker 7 (01:26:43):
It's it's I mean just and even in the last
two years, like I know, from the Athletic and we
got New York Times as our you know, as our
parent company, and we have we have we are in
the conversation prominently all the way up to all the
way up the line to the leaders at the at
the New York Times. They have they see the how

(01:27:03):
big this industry is, and they've they've really kind of
earnestly made it a priority that you know, we are
we're going to be, you know, hands on with fantasy
and figuring out ways to get bigger and bigger and
do more and more.

Speaker 8 (01:27:15):
And it's great.

Speaker 7 (01:27:16):
You know, that's what you want and if you're in
a person in a position like myself, but yeah, uh,
the industry just keeps going and you know, it's it's
something that everybody recognizes, like, hey, this is you know,
we'd be stupid not to put more resources behind this.

Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
Love it all, right, Bradon Funds brought you to by
Georgetown Bering. Let's get to some general things, and this
is where I want folks to listen up different types
of leagues. So there's the PPR league, there's a half
point PPR, and there's non PPR. So how different when
you're doing rankings. I'm looking at Jake's top three hundred
right now. This is half point scoring for for half

(01:27:53):
point scoring. But let's just talk in general terms. Is
b Jon Robinson pretty much the consus number one pick,
no matter what the scoring or how would that work,
Where does where does he rank? Is he our number
one guy this year?

Speaker 7 (01:28:07):
Well, I think you could. I think the deal is
it's almost split now because I think half the half
the industry likes Jami or Gibbs just as much, if
not more. With David Montgomery out and it's looking like
Isaiah but check this coming in, it's not going to
be a one for one volume replacement with Montgomery. The
expectation is that Gibbs is going to have his biggest

(01:28:28):
workload ever and he's one of the biggest breakaway talents
in the league. So I think it's a good argument
between those two, you know, and then you got the
three receivers that you could argue as number one, Puka,
Jamar Chase and JSN and I you know, there's really
how what kind of a roster you have should decide
if you should go running back first round or wide

(01:28:49):
receiver first round. If you can start four wide receivers,
that means three wide receiver spots and you can throw
one in a flex, you probably want to go wide
receiver in the first round. And if it's two wide
receivers and one flex and so you can only go
up to three wide receivers, and you probably want to
go running back. But I think with the very number
one spot, even no matter what format, you can validate

(01:29:10):
Gibbs and Robinson, either one of them, whatever your flavor is,
as the number one.

Speaker 2 (01:29:15):
Overall, pick who do you prefer of those two?

Speaker 7 (01:29:20):
I kind of am going Jamior Gibbs just because they
sound like they're going to be a.

Speaker 8 (01:29:26):
Little less three wide receiver, a little.

Speaker 7 (01:29:28):
More a little more tight end heavy, but also a
little bit more like like I said, this is it
sounds very legit that Jamiir Gibbs is going to have
a level up in his volume. And you know, for
someone who has the kind of yards per touch he gets,
it's elite.

Speaker 8 (01:29:45):
The more volume just you.

Speaker 7 (01:29:46):
Know, it was already among the leaders last you give
more volume, you're gonna like that a little bit more.
And you know, honestly, that offense is a little bit
more stable than Atlanta, who has Tua and Tennix and
who knows what the what the potential quarterback shuffle could
do to one offense. So I think there's just a
little slightly more headwind with Beijon than Gibbs, but it's

(01:30:07):
it's very close, all.

Speaker 2 (01:30:08):
Right, what's the drop off between Bijeon, Jamiir Gibbs and
I'm guessing the next tier of running backs Christian McCaffrey
Jonathan Taylor's what's the drop How big a drop? Because
we've talked about this before with a number of positions,
how big a drop is that if you don't get
Bejeon or Jamiir, do you try to go get a
McCaffrey or Jonathan Taylor right away or do you maybe

(01:30:30):
stick with that receiver run?

Speaker 7 (01:30:33):
Yeah, I think you go to the receiver run. I
think the deal is is that most most times you're
going to be able.

Speaker 8 (01:30:38):
To like you know you can.

Speaker 7 (01:30:40):
I mean, you're if you're sitting at number three, four
or five and Gibbs.

Speaker 8 (01:30:44):
And Robinson go I'd probably lean receiver next.

Speaker 7 (01:30:47):
But then then at that point after this top five
Taylor and McCaffrey completely valid. Honestly, I've seen McCaffrey go three,
I've seen Taylor go in the top five. If you
can guarantee Daniel Jones is going to play most of
the season, Jonathan Taylor's going to play most of the season.
You know, you could argue Jonathan Taylor number one, the
same goes for McCaffrey if you can, if you can

(01:31:08):
guarantee McCaffrey's health, that's just why they're dropped down because
there's a little bit more worry about the health of
those two and the health of their quarterbacks, to be honest,
So a little bit more injury concern is why they
fall a little bit. But they're upside if everything goes well.
Is as good as anybody's we'll.

Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
Get I want to get more into McCaffrey and running
We'll do running backs next week because I think there's
some numbers that kind of are a little scary for
him coming off a year like he had last year
and then this year. There's the history isn't great for
those back to back big years in terms of staying healthy.
Let's let's talk about the wide receivers and we'll just
go one, two, three, and I'm going to include four
and five Nikua Jamar Chase JSN and then Amal Ross,

(01:31:51):
Saint Brown, Justin Jefferson. Those are effectively, seemingly according to
Jake and you guys are the athletic the top five
wide receivers. How closely bunched are those five guys.

Speaker 7 (01:32:04):
I think you could say that the first three are
very closely bunched, and honestly, aman Ross Saint Brown is
I mean you almost put him there because you love
in the first round to have someone that has the
floor of him. It's like a hundred catches, twelve hundred
yards plus.

Speaker 8 (01:32:18):
And you know, eight to ten touchdowns.

Speaker 7 (01:32:21):
I think it's been three or four straight years, like
in JSN hasn't had a season. You know, I had
one season of that level and that was last year.
And so you know, if defenses come in and they're
and they're just their sole focus is JSN, Like does
he have the same floor that aman Ross Saint Brown
has that you know he's going.

Speaker 8 (01:32:40):
To get So you could argue, you can start to
argue that a little bit.

Speaker 7 (01:32:42):
So I think Amona Ross Saint Brown's right there. Justin Jeffson,
I actually have down farther. I just think it's funny
that that Kyler Murray is the reason people are taking
someone who finished outside the top twenty hit wide receiver
last year and just suddenly vaulting him right back into
the top five. To me, I feel like Kyler Murray
is is sort of like Russell Wilson going to the

(01:33:04):
Denver Broncos.

Speaker 8 (01:33:05):
I mean they let him, they let him, they have
no problem.

Speaker 7 (01:33:11):
I mean just the on schedule throws and the timing
throws across the middle. And when Justin Jefferson can use
the whole field, I don't think Kyler Murray can use
the whole field.

Speaker 8 (01:33:19):
That's the problem.

Speaker 7 (01:33:20):
So I still I still have Jefferson up a bit,
but he's my wide receiver eighth this year I have
Ceedee Lamb and Drake London ahead of him.

Speaker 2 (01:33:29):
I was just gonna say much much like when Russ
went to Denver, Kyler Murray going to to UH to Minnesota,
you know the common scene, neither one of them got
any taller, right Like, I don't think either one.

Speaker 7 (01:33:41):
Of them, which you know, you could argue their head
grew a little bit, but they didn't get any taller.

Speaker 2 (01:33:49):
No, they got they they did not have those issues.
It is Renifs by Georgetown Brewing. Is it safe to say,
because when you brought about JSN, I was gonna ask
you about with and JSN Pooko from pook in this
mix too. You brought up Juster Jefferson. There's a cool
question about the quarterback play with Pooka. There's a question
about him being a dummy and a weirdo and a

(01:34:09):
freak apparently likes to bite people or women, and then
JSN it's a one hit. Wonder are there red flags
for all those guys.

Speaker 7 (01:34:17):
I think with Pookah, I guess the I guess the
off the field stuff you worry about a little bit,
but you know, once the season starts, they're they're not
off the field a whole lot to where they can
get in a lot of trouble, So you don't really
worry about it more in the last couple of months
than the couple months ahead. I think with him, you
worry just that he's always always seems to be banged up,

(01:34:38):
and there's always a questionable tag as is he playing,
And you know, it's kind of a little bit weary
with that.

Speaker 8 (01:34:43):
If you if you're rostering him.

Speaker 7 (01:34:45):
I think with JSN, my thing is he's he's always
been good, you know, and Gino. You know, I just
think that this offense has sort of grown. He's he's
taken steps each year, so this is sort of seems
like a natural progression. I think Sam Darnell, so it's
a great ball. I just think, you know, you can
say you know, is there defense going to be so

(01:35:06):
good and it is the other defense is going to
be so focused on him that this is a little
bit more of a conservative system. And maybe the ceiling
isn't quite as high as it was last year. I
still think he's going to be great. I just I
can see him coming down a little bit. And that's
probably you know why I have him behind Nikoua and
Jamar Chase.

Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
It is Brandon Funza joining us. This is our annual
we do this the first week every year where you
tell people be careful when you draft a quarterback. I'll
let you go from there.

Speaker 7 (01:35:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:35:36):
Yeah, I mean it's funny because I mean Drake May.

Speaker 7 (01:35:40):
And Matt Stafford I think they were two and three
at the quarterback position.

Speaker 8 (01:35:44):
You could get them very late.

Speaker 7 (01:35:45):
You can still get Stafford outside the top twelve quarterbacks,
which blows my mind.

Speaker 8 (01:35:49):
Was he had forty seven was forty seven touchdown passes
I think last year?

Speaker 7 (01:35:54):
Yeah, I mean he could regress by ten touchdown passes
and probably still.

Speaker 8 (01:35:57):
Lead the league in touchdown passes. I mean this is
so it's just that the.

Speaker 7 (01:36:01):
Difference between what you might get with the first couple
of quarterbacks and what you're gonna get with the quarterback
number twelve is not so great that you want to
go hunting for that in the early rounds at the
you know, and then limiting yourself to the kind of
running back and wide receiver.

Speaker 8 (01:36:17):
Power you can get at that spot.

Speaker 7 (01:36:19):
So Josh Allen is a little bit of an exception.
He's been like the number one guy the last three years,
and so he deserves to go as the first quarterback
in a regular one quarterback league. That could be the
third round before I would think about doing that, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:36:33):
For those of us that have a super flex league,
when do you take a quarterback?

Speaker 7 (01:36:38):
Well, I had the number one pick in the super
Flex League a couple of weeks ago Jake Seely's Flex
League draft out in New York, and I took Josh
Allen just because there is a decent gap in my
mind between the number one quarterback and who could be
number two. I mean, you can say it's Lamar Jackson,
but he's you know, his battled injuries. There's a coaching

(01:36:58):
turnover there. Jayden Daniels, same deal. I just feel like
if you're going to be in a super flex, you're
going to have to take a quarterback in the first
round most likely, unless you you see early run and
you're sitting towards the back end, and then you can
you know, take a different position and on the comeback
you take a quarterback.

Speaker 8 (01:37:17):
But they move up, you know, they move up and
become you just think of.

Speaker 7 (01:37:21):
Them like wide receivers and running backs at that point
in a super flex league.

Speaker 2 (01:37:26):
Tell people that I'll see I love this. I love
the super flex. For people that are sitting around like,
what the hell is? Tell people the super flex is.

Speaker 7 (01:37:33):
Yeah, well, the super flex allows you in your flex
spot to add quarterback in addition to all the other
skill positions. So you'd be crazy not to try to
take advantage of getting a quarterback into your flex spot
because by and large, starting quarterbacks just you know, because
of the scoring system, score more than wide receivers and running.

Speaker 8 (01:37:51):
Backs on average.

Speaker 7 (01:37:52):
I mean, there's there's exceptions, but week in and week out,
you're you're gonna do better with a you know, a
top twenty quarterback as your second as your second quarterback
in your lineup, in your super flex spot. So that's
why people go crazy to try to get those get
those quarterbacks. All the starting quarterbacks out of the way,
so you're not looking at like Fernando Mendoz or Kirk

(01:38:15):
Cousins as your second quarterback in that flex spot. You
want to lock it down with somebody you know who's
going to be there for seventeen games unless they, you know,
get hobbled, but otherwise you know they're going to be there.

Speaker 2 (01:38:28):
Lamar Jackson, he is the bane of some First of all,
I love the super flex. I think it's a blast.
I think just as higher scoring. Just to reiterate your
stuff on Lamar Jackson, the team that finished last last
year and the guys did a show for him. That
was my quarterback was Lamia Jackson.

Speaker 8 (01:38:43):
Last sear that did resonate with me. I do remember that.
I seem to recall that for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:38:51):
He was good the first week. I'm just looking back
last year was good. The first week after that it
was it was a disaster. All right, Next week we'll
kind of go position by specific position. Let's go let's
go running backs and quarterbacks next week. If we can,
we'll see how far we get through that. Maybe just
be the running backs. Then we'll kind of go from there.
Then wide receivers and keep getting people prepped. In the meantime,
we talked about this to start. Let's do it again

(01:39:13):
for folks that are getting ready for their draft, who
need to prep, who just can't get enough of this stuff,
and there's a zillion of you out there. Tell folks
we got just all the stuff you got going off
the athletic.

Speaker 7 (01:39:22):
Yeah, I'll just go to the athletic, the fancy football side.
We got the rankings up, constantly updated. I mentioned the
new fancy draft assistant, a bunch of new personalities they're riding,
held in high esteem in the industry. I think you
like them across the board, analytics types, you know, just
some good information out there. So we got a ton

(01:39:43):
of stuff coming that's already out and a bunch of
stuff that's coming in the next few weeks as well.

Speaker 2 (01:39:48):
Just jump on that. Those those Xcel spreadsheets are fun
to download, and just you do your rankings along those ways.
All right, it's Bradon fussed. We'll talk to you next week,
my friend. Thank you.

Speaker 8 (01:39:58):
All right, sounds good.

Speaker 1 (01:40:03):
Now back to iannets at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center
and our special coverage of Seahawks training team, brought to
you by the Boweling Classic on sports Tree k j R.

Speaker 7 (01:40:15):
F m.

Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
All right back here at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center.
Drew Locke rolling right, tuxt the ball, He'll run up
the metal, Chazz.

Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
We're not supposed to do play by play there again.

Speaker 2 (01:40:26):
I think I could do that. I think it. Drew
Lock scrambled for three yards, Yeah, Chazz, so rot comes
in and makes the tackle with two hands. Is okay.
I don't think Aye's gonna get up set about that. Nope, nope,
could be wrong, could be could be wrong, never could
be wrong. Along the way, check the text four nine
four or five one on that is to come a

(01:40:47):
dodge text line. Uh, let's see my annual athletics fee
is paid off by the draft kittalog it is. I mean,
I'm telling you I was joking about that earlier. That's
that's why you do it. Uh that that's why you
do it. Like you just you get that thing done.
You get the doubt. You have the athletic for a
couple of bucks a month, and because like you can

(01:41:09):
go their services that you can you know, get cheap
that you're paying five six eight bucks more. Maybe well
the athletic you get everything and it's like way less money.
So uh that's that to me? Is well worked with cash,
I would get it done along the way. Watch out Ian.
Jake Bobo has a future in broadcasting.

Speaker 3 (01:41:27):
I think he does.

Speaker 2 (01:41:29):
If you want. There's a couple of guys like that.

Speaker 3 (01:41:31):
Just like tyle Cott has a future in coaching, Jake
Bobo's a career or future in broadcasting for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:41:37):
Still, it's crazy Jake Bobo got paid. I could good
for him. If good for him, Yeah, he's a fun
guy to talk to.

Speaker 5 (01:41:43):
He got paid.

Speaker 2 (01:41:43):
I love all that. Let's see. Uh, Julio stinks refused
to win, says the two six god. I was telling
soft to a second ago. They win today the manners
you want to nothing. People just people just don't like
this team. I don't know. It's just weird, like borderline

(01:42:05):
rooting against these guys, right, but only get against these guys.

Speaker 3 (01:42:09):
It's it's crazy how much this I feel like there's
almost this feeling with a Mariner fans that at least
with a portion of them that almost are rooting for
carnage at this point.

Speaker 2 (01:42:20):
I think so too, I think so too.

Speaker 4 (01:42:21):
What was it?

Speaker 2 (01:42:22):
I'm gonna that stat you had earlier about the batting average.
I'll have you saved that for software.

Speaker 3 (01:42:26):
Okay, speaking of if we do have a one talk
back today.

Speaker 2 (01:42:29):
I'll get held on to it for seconds. I think
if that's what you're telling me, all right, Jake Bobo
is the best? Can you get a segment once a
week with all that without all starting? They don't like,
we would love to have a weekly segment with a
seahawk guest. That won't happen. Now you're gonna say, Ian,
why won't that happen? Well, I'm gonna take you back

(01:42:49):
to about two thousand and eight. I think it was
two thousand and nine, somewhere in there. I think it's
two thousand and nine. Actually, Dave Softy mall are ruined
that for everybody. Of course he did uh specifically he didn't.
But a guy that's now like a really big deal
on network television, Nate Burlison was doing the weekly show

(01:43:10):
with Softy, and then one week.

Speaker 5 (01:43:14):
It all went.

Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
All went downhill, down uphill off over here. Friends. Yeah,
Nate came in and he brought a couple of friends
with him, the great Dion Branch. And when I said great,
those were in quotation marks and TJ. Who's Mazanna h
and things and things went south? Yeah, like fast and

(01:43:40):
uh yeah. Ever since then, no no more weeklies.

Speaker 13 (01:43:44):
So thanks Nate, thanks TJ, Thanks Softy, Thanks Dion, and
thanks Softing. Is that the funny thing was like Softy
like to his crest, like he just was there and
all of a sudden, those guys just took over the show,
like three fifty one Ellie at our old studios and
I'm driving home and I was coming back from doing
a Blazer broadcast that that night before. I'm driving up
the freeway and Hugh Millan calls.

Speaker 2 (01:44:05):
Me and go, are you listening to this? No, he
didn't call me something. I think Kevin called me.

Speaker 3 (01:44:08):
Is that where is that where this quote came from?

Speaker 2 (01:44:12):
Yep, that was branch. Yeah, that was the on branch Yeah,
the on branch Ian furness. What what do you say?
Do you have it again?

Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
It's just it's all down here from here it goes.

Speaker 2 (01:44:28):
Uh yeah, it was all south. Yeah. I was doing
TV with Fox. I just started doing TV with Fox,
and I was with Hugh milling and and we Didish
post Game show and we're critical of Deon. I don't know,
we probably had like eight drop balls or something and
they went south. So no, no Jake Boba weekly. Sorry, guys,
we'll have them on again. Oh, well, we'll have We'll
have him on during uh during the season. I didn't

(01:44:49):
get to your class. I used some questions here for fun,
so we'll do questions on the text line for him
next week. All right, my god, it is about the Miracers.

Speaker 7 (01:44:58):
This this, this.

Speaker 2 (01:45:01):
Summarizes how I think way too many people feel about
the Oh yes, my god. Even when they were winning,
they were boring and a not a fun team to watch. Suckfest.
I mean that people just don't like them. Yeah, twenty
nine and says well at the plate guessing and guessing incorrectly. Yeah,
we talked about Alveno earlier. It's a guessing game sometimes
up there, and and it's weird that now listen, he's

(01:45:22):
a catcher. He's got a pretty good eye. But man,
he looked lost to day.

Speaker 3 (01:45:28):
I mean, like to he looked lost all season.

Speaker 2 (01:45:30):
Well he has. But you're sitting there, you're facing a
right hander in the last in the eighth inning and
or the top of the ninth, I should say, and
you got that short porch and right field, which he
should like he could with one finger last year, could
have hit one out. Yes, and he's just he looked lost.
He looked at a couple of strikes. You're like, what

(01:45:52):
are you doing? Yeah, it's just and as like you
know said, it's just his approach is just awful right
now and it has to be is he said, what
change with Boston? That was interesting, but you know said,
what changed with Boston's offense? They got more aggressive? Aggressive
in the zone, in the zone. Yeah, and like you
can live, as No said, you can live with a
guy swinging and missing at balls that are not in

(01:46:17):
that are in the zone, like, you can live with that.
It's the ones outside the zone that you're just lost
at that you can't.

Speaker 3 (01:46:22):
Yeah, and he has been doing a lot of that too.
It's not just that he's not swinging it pitches in
his zone. He is swinging it pitches outside the zone.
So that stat that Ian or you know, was mentioning,
I want to know because he mentioned what it was
for the Mariners as a team, I want to know
what it is for cal Rawley specifically.

Speaker 2 (01:46:38):
I don't I never know if you're with me anymore
because you like to go ditch me for the morning show.
If you're with me next when next Thursday, you can
have you make.

Speaker 3 (01:46:44):
Sure you ask okay, I will okay, all right, I
don't know well, and I like your question about approach
because a lot of people get triggered by that word,
right well, and it's it's kind of like control and command,
right right, right, they're different, they're different things, and you know,
and I think sometimes you know, quote unquote baseball guy
kind of throws things around and trouble won't always understand.

Speaker 2 (01:47:05):
But yeah, the approach is the approach right now is
not good. I'll do this next week. Explain to Funston
why Sam is ranked twenty fourth when Jays ranked very high.
Seems like a Seelman's sketching TD. Somebody throws them. I
know it's one to one, the twenty fourth. Yeah, Donold's
not highly ranked.

Speaker 3 (01:47:24):
Not in fantasy because he's never a volume.

Speaker 2 (01:47:26):
Guy, right well, four thousand yards last year. Yeah, I
also had a lot of picks. Actually, that's probably it. Yeah,
that's probably it because most most leagues you lose in
that regard, right right right. Keith Miller still goose freaking
by all those years during that open. Yeah, it's it's
it's crazy, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (01:47:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:47:46):
It is, It is really crazy. Let's see, I got
one or two more texts four nine, four or five one?

Speaker 3 (01:47:52):
Saving the talk back for Trost.

Speaker 2 (01:47:54):
No, we'll go to break with that in a second.
Hang out a second. When do we implement refuse to talk?

Speaker 7 (01:48:00):
Hmmm?

Speaker 2 (01:48:01):
So oft the whin sh I implement refuse to talk?
Could do it mathematically eliminated? Or when it's obvious that
they are not going to make it already past that point? No,
they're still in it, man, dude, they're still in you
are I don't know they're still in it.

Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
I don't know how we got into this situation where
Ian Furness is the Uh Susie Sunshine about the Mariners
this year? They're still in it? Oh my god, they're
still in it? How to get it?

Speaker 5 (01:48:31):
Susie? Who's Susie Sunshine for?

Speaker 3 (01:48:33):
About the Mariners?

Speaker 5 (01:48:34):
Well, I'm right there with them, all right?

Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
What final text?

Speaker 11 (01:48:37):
Four?

Speaker 2 (01:48:37):
Four to five one?

Speaker 5 (01:48:38):
You're ready?

Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
This is fantasy.

Speaker 5 (01:48:39):
They make the playoffs. You don't get to go.

Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
This is the fantasy. This is a fantasy question. Ready,
listen to this one flex spot. You can only start
one JJ Putts Joel Panero, Dan Wilson or Mike Jackson.
You can only start one.

Speaker 6 (01:48:50):
I like J J.

Speaker 3 (01:48:51):
Putts. I don't know why he's on that list.

Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
I'm a Mike Jackson fan. I don't think it should
have been a top fifty guy, but I like Mike Jackson, Panero, Wilson. No,
you can cast those guys aside. Are you got we
got to talk back? Going to break hit it? Yeah?

Speaker 11 (01:49:04):
Ah, Maler here checking in for fucking Motlake. I don't know, man,
ends win a game one nothing, dude, I mean, guys,
there's forty games left.

Speaker 3 (01:49:14):
There's forty games to go. Guys, pull your head out
of your ass.

Speaker 11 (01:49:17):
I mean, piggyback, No piggyback, tipe man rotation, six man rotation,
befa Felt three O Felts no Felts Felt, screwdriver. I
don't know, man, I'll be down here on Motlake when
the only team with a plan is the dogs.

Speaker 5 (01:49:30):
Man, damn right s Detroit just left?

Speaker 2 (01:49:44):
All right, We're back here at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center,
and Vanessa, Steve Softy Mall are here with you. Is
uh last day of fans out here, last day twelve.
I'm sorry to hear that no more twelve. Sorry to
hear that no more twelve twelve are no more, no
more twelve.

Speaker 5 (01:49:57):
What would the twelves do?

Speaker 8 (01:49:58):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:49:59):
Where do they go? There's a place that all twelves
hang out?

Speaker 5 (01:50:01):
He went a popsicle ice cream sandwich.

Speaker 2 (01:50:05):
No, I'm good right now?

Speaker 5 (01:50:06):
Sure I was gonna have one if you had one?

Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
Should we?

Speaker 5 (01:50:10):
Absolutely? There you go, that's my guy.

Speaker 2 (01:50:14):
Yeah. By the way, well mint mint, all right, Andrews,
go ahead and carry the same. We've got mint chalking.

Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
Out face when I'm hungry. But you're going talk and while.

Speaker 5 (01:50:26):
I while I have this, can't wind about that. There's
a vending machine now, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:50:31):
No ice cream sandwich. Isn't that vending machine?

Speaker 5 (01:50:34):
This might be the best ice cream sandwich I've ever had?

Speaker 2 (01:50:37):
Oh god, man, this is good.

Speaker 5 (01:50:39):
Andrews. Break down the Guadalajara game.

Speaker 3 (01:50:41):
Go ahead, No, I didn't watch it.

Speaker 5 (01:50:42):
Take all the time you want and call soft be
the stat he texted me.

Speaker 3 (01:50:48):
Which stat? There's two of them, the cal Rally one. Yeah,
the cal Rawley one.

Speaker 5 (01:50:51):
For sure.

Speaker 3 (01:50:51):
I texted him that one as soon as I found
I did. I did, And we'll get a stop. Then
you have another stat Well, the Chris Cofford one, the
one I stole Chris.

Speaker 2 (01:51:04):
Yeah, give us that one. So yeah, a sandwich eat.

Speaker 3 (01:51:07):
Okay, So all right, I'll let you guys do your thing.
But in twenty twenty four, the Seattle Mariners fired Scott
Service when they were sixty four and sixty four. Now,
because they won today, if they go seven and oh
in the next seven games, they will be sixty four
and sixty five. That's if they go seven and oh
in the next seven games.

Speaker 12 (01:51:26):
Which Scott's Service had been fired. If you had gone
to Game seven of the Alcs the year.

Speaker 3 (01:51:30):
Before, probably not. You're you are correct that assumption. But
it's just it's a representation of where the Mariners are
at in the season.

Speaker 12 (01:51:39):
You know, the best part about an ice cream sandwich
everything you get, the everything you get, the sandwich part
in your fingers.

Speaker 5 (01:51:44):
You get to lick it off.

Speaker 2 (01:51:45):
Yeah, it's like ribs, but it's dessert. I'm not sure
if I've ever had one this mint chocolate chip. Oh
my god, you live vanilla so good. Well, anyway, I'm
still leating you guys.

Speaker 5 (01:51:57):
Finish. You know what's going on? What is happening here?

Speaker 12 (01:52:03):
We literally just tried to break this equipment down to
go inside where it's cool, but the ethernet port is
no longer working in there.

Speaker 5 (01:52:10):
Than Luckily we have set.

Speaker 2 (01:52:13):
We have the ice cream sandwich to cool us off.
That's right, so we thank the staff for that. That
was awesome of them to do that. Unbelievable along the way, Well,
the Manors one today, buddy, I know I saw that one. Nothing.

Speaker 5 (01:52:23):
Yeah, Weston Wilson. Where would this team be with that
Weston Wilson.

Speaker 2 (01:52:26):
Well, they'd have a seven game losing streak.

Speaker 5 (01:52:28):
You think Weston has a brother named Hyatt. By the way,
you get the joke. I do the hotels, a cousin
named Hilton, sister named Marriott. His uncle's nickname is Red Roof.
I'm kidding. I'm just having some fun with you there.
And brain is pride.

Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
Man, I'm almost done with this ice cream sandwich.

Speaker 11 (01:52:51):
Oh.

Speaker 12 (01:52:51):
By the way, that means you got to pick us
up to say oh, I forgot to do this earlier.
Four nine four five one. If you want to go
to the Bowling Classic, yeah, we have how many passes five.

Speaker 2 (01:52:58):
To give away?

Speaker 3 (01:52:59):
Yes, we have five.

Speaker 2 (01:53:01):
What do you need, Andrew?

Speaker 12 (01:53:02):
What name or ice cream sandwiches Ian eating right now,
I've just finished it.

Speaker 5 (01:53:06):
Text that into four nine four five one.

Speaker 3 (01:53:08):
Name an email address.

Speaker 5 (01:53:09):
How fat will Ean b when he finishes five ice
cream sandwiches? Well I want to go mother one. Text
that in the four nine four five one.

Speaker 2 (01:53:17):
I mean that was fantastic at the spot.

Speaker 3 (01:53:19):
Hit the spot, good for one day at the Bowing Classic.
It's a great, great event to go to four nine
four one. Text in right now, Anders will hook you up.

Speaker 5 (01:53:26):
Yeah, he's really selling it there. Yeah great, I.

Speaker 2 (01:53:29):
Guess I'm well we should sell. You're gonna have Fred
Couples on today.

Speaker 5 (01:53:33):
He's on at six o'clock tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:53:34):
Yeah. Can I heard an extended interview coming off him.
Here's what we'll do, are we sure? By the way, yes?

Speaker 5 (01:53:41):
Positive?

Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
Okay, I will admit this.

Speaker 5 (01:53:43):
I will admit this to you and your audience only.

Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Yes, okay.

Speaker 5 (01:53:47):
So this is like a little bonus for actually tuning
in for this stupid segment.

Speaker 2 (01:53:51):
Is this like this is a bonus segment?

Speaker 5 (01:53:53):
Yes, you you've got to be listening to it. You
know what looks good is that orange popsicle right there?

Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
I got that girl smiling. Leave me alone, creepy old.

Speaker 6 (01:54:05):
We were we.

Speaker 5 (01:54:06):
We actually recorded Fred yesterday. Yeah, how was it great?

Speaker 12 (01:54:09):
And then I went to save it on my laptop,
my company issued laptop, and I got the spinning circle
of death on my laptop.

Speaker 5 (01:54:17):
Yeah, and my laptop crashed before I could save the interview.

Speaker 12 (01:54:21):
Yeah, And I'm like, you got to be kidding me, right,
So I called his agent representative, longtime friend of ours,
guy named John Bracken.

Speaker 5 (01:54:29):
I was like, look, here's what happened.

Speaker 12 (01:54:31):
If you're with him and he's in a good mood
and he wants to do it again, great, don't break
your back over it. But if it works out, great,
And so Fred sent me a text this morning and said,
we'll do it again. So six o'clock tonight, we're gonna
have Fred on the air with us for forty minutes.
By the way, talking about Tiger. What's in his bag?
You know, he's sixty six years old. Man, he's not

(01:54:53):
much older than you, by the.

Speaker 2 (01:54:54):
Way, right, he's a lot older.

Speaker 5 (01:54:56):
Yeah, Okay, So he I told you you might you
might want to listen to He.

Speaker 2 (01:55:00):
Was eleven when I got to when I got today,
he was already a legend. Well I'll just tell you that, Hey,
Freddie's it who.

Speaker 5 (01:55:08):
You think they speak of you in the same light
as they speak of Fred Couples. Yeah, no, yeah.

Speaker 12 (01:55:13):
When you walk in there, here's our wall of fame.
The ninety eight percent is Fred Couples. And then right
there by the toilet, there's a picture of you.

Speaker 2 (01:55:20):
En the Hall of Fame. Fred Couples, Nate Burlison, and
not Ian Forness.

Speaker 5 (01:55:24):
Oh there you go. Okay, Well, who would be number
three on that list oday? Mitch Johnson.

Speaker 12 (01:55:28):
Maybe Mitch is on there if he had won the
NBA championship, right, well, you know instead of falling apart,
one of.

Speaker 2 (01:55:34):
The best athletes here, I was unfortunately late Demetris to vote.

Speaker 12 (01:55:36):
That's right, that's right, great player, linebacker, right linebacker, Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (01:55:40):
Yeah, yeah, there's a lot you look on that list.
There's a lot of guys up there and you don't
see there. Yeah, Paula Bek Carroll was okay, yeah, pretty good. Yeah,
I think they put I mean I think I should
be on the list before him, an absolute Miles Gaskin, never.

Speaker 5 (01:55:56):
Heard of him, and your face should be on to
be on that wall.

Speaker 2 (01:56:00):
Thank you, thank you very much.

Speaker 5 (01:56:02):
You know who that is.

Speaker 12 (01:56:03):
By the way, Scott Wolf talking about Petros not being
on the broadcasting wall at USC. They have this big
giant wall of all these broadcasters that went to USC,
and he's not on it, like sports broadcasters, not soap
opera news anchors or no, it's sportscasters. It's in the
stadium and he's he's too ugly to be on that wall.

Speaker 5 (01:56:26):
Well, that's why he.

Speaker 12 (01:56:27):
Said he had kind of with his own school a
little bit. I mean, he does look like Quasimotoves, So
I don't blame him.

Speaker 2 (01:56:33):
Take that part of up there, Take that part.

Speaker 12 (01:56:35):
They bring in, like, you know, kids for tours and
they look at that face and they just freakish.

Speaker 2 (01:56:40):
Is nature is Petro? Is Petros to USC like Nelly
is to the meritors.

Speaker 12 (01:56:46):
Uh oh, it's a great question. So I don't think
it's that bad. Well, yeah, kind of is. Like I
think Petros might actually be on less solid footing than
Nelly is with the mariage.

Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
That's pretty hard.

Speaker 5 (01:57:00):
Yeah, yeah, I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:57:01):
That's pretty hard to do.

Speaker 5 (01:57:02):
They don't like him much down there at the YA.

Speaker 2 (01:57:03):
I mean and Troy, like, if you had the top
fifty full backs in USC history right right, he'd be
fifty one, and there's only forty guys that have played
the position when he made it.

Speaker 12 (01:57:15):
Now he wouldn't make it too critical, doesn't donate enough
money whatever. I mean, you know the whole thing about
Dave Valley. And there's I don't know if you understand this.
You know, Joel Paniero and Dave Valley were on the
Top fifty list, right. Joel Panierro is a guy that
we used to refer to as Joel Pinata, Yeah, because
he would get beat so badly that I would expect
like candy and toys to fall out of his pocket.

(01:57:36):
And then Dave Valley was so bad that a sports bar,
a couple of sports bars used to price their drinks
based on his batting average. Yep, there's no part of
me ever watching Dave Valley play that thought.

Speaker 5 (01:57:44):
He'd be top fifty.

Speaker 12 (01:57:45):
No, and he's and I love val everyone like you know,
if you grow up, But even Dave Valley's like, I'm
on the list really wow. And and at the expense
of Nelly, Yeah, unbelievable man as well. They probably looked
at as as well. So what the heck, Andrews, you're
giving up?

Speaker 5 (01:58:03):
You're done? Is that right, they're done.

Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
I mean they're not showing me anything that that they're
gonna come out of this.

Speaker 4 (01:58:09):
Well.

Speaker 12 (01:58:10):
Dick Dick, Dick proclaimed yesterday that they're done. Yeah, he
just shut it down, jack He's shutting her down.

Speaker 6 (01:58:16):
Wow.

Speaker 12 (01:58:16):
And Jackson's kind of like, yeah, you know, I'm pretty
much almost there. Me, I'm not there yet, you know.
I want to see what happens this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
They look like a dead I'm not gonna.

Speaker 12 (01:58:25):
Swept by the Astros and wake up eight back on
Monday then of course, right, but if they can find
a way, Guys, Houston's not a very good team.

Speaker 5 (01:58:31):
No shock the hell out of yet. Okay, what it
shocked the hell out of you.

Speaker 2 (01:58:35):
If they swept If the Mariners swept Houston, it would
shock me. If they swept them, it would not shock me.
If they want two or.

Speaker 12 (01:58:40):
Three, I want to get odds. I want odds on
the Mariners sweeping the Astros. What do you think, three
to one, four to one, whatever, five to one?

Speaker 5 (01:58:46):
How much? Andrews? What are the odds? I'm like the
opposite of.

Speaker 3 (01:58:49):
Hans play to win, win win on those times, I
just want.

Speaker 12 (01:58:52):
To bet the Mariners on to sweep twenty one to one.
I'll bet you twenty one to one. I'll put one
hundred bucks on that. Right now, we gotta go.

Speaker 5 (01:58:58):
What's goingay? What's the fred couple of six? Ready couples
at six?

Speaker 12 (01:59:02):
Abe Lucas will join us, all right, right, tackle for
you set no day guy and you guys right well,
you know we got to give time to the less
fortunate man, so we'll get well al I will tell
him that. I will tell him that, and then Jerry
Brewer is going to be with us. Brett Boone as well.
All coming up, I see for the mild mannered and
marginally objectionable Inverness, this is paddle day, saying so long everyone,
