How you guys doing today?

Speaker 5 (02:19):
This is why we can't have nice things.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Happy birthday? Young?

Speaker 6 (02:24):
About that?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
About that? Now, today is not your official birthday, it's
in the next few days. But you were actually on
Friday going to take some time off for your birthday
like you do every single year.

Speaker 7 (02:34):
I do, except this year we're not going to be traveling.
That's better because there's a very expensive thing on the
horizon called a wedding.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yes, I can't believe you're paying for mine.

Speaker 8 (02:44):
That's great.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
You know, we paid for hours as well.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
And I think most people like, especially with their if
you go to a second marriage kind of thing, I
think it's pretty common. You know that you have to
finance that yourself, and man, you find out in a
second how expensive is And I think here in the
state of Florida. I don't know if it's a if
this is a national thing just because Florida is Florida,
if everything here is more expensive, but Jesus h I
told my wife about two years ago, I'm like, we

(03:10):
are in the wrong business, you know. And we even
had a conversation. You know, there's there's this place out
and I believe ostein and it's like this barn setup.
But this people have this this you know, big piece
of property and they built this giant like barn and
basically it is to have weddings.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
There's a name for it.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
I can't I think it's called like the woods or
the barn or something like that. And all it does
is host wedding events for people who don't mind that
country outdoor kind of feel right.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Yeah, my niece got married and just north of Pittsburgh
in a barn wedding.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Man, that's a that is a business now, like buying
these these really rural pieces of property that don't cost
a whole bunch per acre, got parking built in. That's right,
you got there, you build your infrastructure. Again not super expensive.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
I think even this place has like two cottages on property,
one for the groom, one for the to get ready
and then they do their thing. All of the party
happens right there because you're getting married in the same
spot that you're you know, you're having your reception. And
and that's I mean, from what last I heard, at
least it was like book solid for months in advance,
like for the weekend.

Speaker 7 (04:14):
So congratulations, thank you, thank you so so yeah, so
we're going to keep it close to home for.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
The good day. Good for you all, Happy birthday. How
does forty eight feel?

Speaker 7 (04:25):
Ye, smart man, what you told me before the microphones
went on and.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
You were you can't say that. Come on, that's fritt
and stuff. We can't guesse the point say that out loud.
People think I'm in the biggest asset ever walk. I
already believe it. Shocker.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah all right four oh seven nine one six one
four one text us seven seven zero three. When I
actually had to apologize for the insensitivity of my gift.
But Jack, you know what the funny thing is is, like,
you know, if you're friends, and we are very good friends,
that we do something that's more than just.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
The easiest way out.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Jack and I have conversation yesterday about what we were
going to get and what we're going to do. Ross
is not in this because he's not in until Thursday, right,
and we both kind of kind of came to the
conclusion that we thought, with everything coming up, that money
would just be the best offering. So I hope you
don't think that's us not thinking about you personally.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
Make it rain, gentlemen, make it rain.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
I should have done that.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
I would have a single one of them, all right,
very good?

Speaker 7 (05:23):
Yeah, No, not insensitive at all, because what that does
is your gift says, hey, we recognize that you have
this huge expense coming up very very soon in your life,
and you know what am I going to do with
another toaster or a miniature project?

Speaker 4 (05:37):
And you can put that stuff on your wedding your list. Yeah, exactly,
so you don't have to do it. I just thought
the money would be a better thing. So it is.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Jack give her ten grand I gave her two dollars.
But congratulations, happy birthday.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Is it weird having your birthday like in the beginning
of the year like this, You know it because mine's
at the very end, and it's in the same month
of Christmas, so there's that there's that all going.

Speaker 7 (06:00):
Around have almost like outside of Jack, who's April, you know,
Ross is July. Yours is like that last birthday where
it's still your birthday, but it's in that time of
the year when everyone is looking forward to the holidays,
and we've just gotten past Thanksgiving.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Two weeks after Thanksgiving, two weeks before Christmas, Christmas where
you get the joint gift, although we have thought about
it so many Oh yeah, it's exactly three weeks in
front of Christmas. Yeah, exactly, So.

Speaker 7 (06:29):
You're right in the heart of that great holiday season,
whereas my birthday lands right when all the bills from
Christmas are having.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Yeah, the credit card bills hit.

Speaker 7 (06:38):
Everybody's been back to work for a week or two,
and you're miserable because you're looking at the calendar and
the next time you get off is Easter. Right, you know,
you're fat, unhappy and broke. So it hasn't been the
best time of the year to have a birthday.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
That's the triumvit of wellness, now, is it? Now?

Speaker 3 (06:55):
By the way, shout out to Public's man you know,
we get publics a little bit of a heat and
man that they had a bump.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
They got it like a Pumpkins spot ice kate with
creamge'es icing. Yeah, well, I mean the products are great.
You just have to need a coach signer to get us,
need to allowance to get per diem.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
You might want to sell your plasma. So yeah, thank
you guys.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
I really appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
You completely surprised me.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
I did not expect it today. You're such a liar.

Speaker 7 (07:19):
No, I didn't. I truly I thought, if anything, it
would be Monday.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
That's see, that's what we are. That's what we surmise,
and we're like, well, we get it early. She's not
expecting it today. She'll probably expect Monday because we always
pretend like, oh we forgot. I didn't know it was
your birthday. Jack, now me into it. I was gonna
wait till Thursday or that next Monday. But Jack Jack's
writing goes, well, it's this is closer to her actual birthday,

(07:46):
and it's the week of rather than the week after,
and he's one hundred percent right.

Speaker 7 (07:50):
And then you know, then you guys, don't go into
your weekend worrying about Okay, I got to remember to
get something else on a Monday, you know, when you're
already hopping and skipping to get a work.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Right, yeah right. Speaking of selling plasma, what do you
think that about that as a side hustle for whom?
For anyone? Well, I don't know. I don't know what
anything about it.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
Just out the contract for the reception side. I don't
know if it's going to be that expensive.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
How often can you do it? I think it's every
three weeks or something, isn't it might be every two weeks,
every two weeks, and I think you get like one
hundred and fifty. No you don't, Yeah you do.

Speaker 7 (08:26):
I knew plenty of people. That's how they made their
bills stretch.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Was they hold up? Yeah, especially if.

Speaker 5 (08:31):
You're younger and you go in and sell your plasma.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Hold on, is young plasma better than old plasma? Oh? Buddy,
you don't even know. When I knew immediately you're bsing you.
Oh my god, you're the worst.

Speaker 7 (08:44):
Made you look it up and me too? Is old plasma?

Speaker 4 (08:50):
That's what If I had a band, it would be
called old plasma. It's broken, it's broken in it's got
a few more miles out of exactly. There's a place
like a mile from me, maybe a little more, but
you know it's pretty Cleo's around the corner.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
It says compensation per donation varies by ciner jack, But
how much did you say?

Speaker 4 (09:12):
One hundred and fifty dollars? And now I thought the
person I was talking to said they do it every week. Wow,
I don't know love that. Texas says you can do
it every four days, and soone says twice a week
they get about five hundred bucks a month.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
Is this how you're planning to fund your retirement?

Speaker 4 (09:27):
I'm wondering. I'm wondering. It's a side hustle. I mean
I already donate blood, Okay, hold saving lives making money?
What's the difference? It says you can often earn between
five and eight hundred dollars in your first month by
completing a series of donations, typically eight visits monthly earning
for earnings. For regulars, consistent donors typically make between three

(09:48):
and five hundred dollars per month. The fdaight allows up
to two donations within a seven day period, so you
can get you can donate eight times a month. How
about that? How about them? Uh yeah, that's insane. I
did not know that.

Speaker 7 (10:06):
Somebody just texted and said, sadly, a let of drug
users do it for money.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Oh yeah, I'm sure they do. I want clean needles. Yeah,
I'll bring my own the someone else like twice a week.
It's about one hundred and twenty bucks a week, three
times a week for this person at six twenty per month.
How long does it take to do it? That's a
legit question. Yeah, how long. Well, one thing that's taken
me by surprise is how many of our listeners have

(10:31):
first hand Oh yeah, yeah, trustman, I tell you they
probably do. Oh my goodness.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
It takes about an hour to an hour and a half,
but your first donation can take up to two hours
because of extra screaming.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Yeah that makes sense. Wow, incredible. If they check out
your wrinkly ass plasma, Oh yeah, yeah, my plasma's bald.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Even my plasma is a hairless, hairless pooch. A bunch
of stuff talk about today, of course, we are doing
the Progress football follow up. We will talk about the
what you Do that's new, The Gator Man or the
Florida Man, which is the episode in season one.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
It's called Gator. It's Florida Man. It's the game of
the series HBO Max. Gator is season one, episode one,
and boy, they hit it out of the park.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
They could not have picked a Florida man.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
You couldn't have baited the hook with better bait than
this guy that they feature in this show.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Oh, Eric, I'm related to about five erics. Give your
heads up.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
City Commissioner Amy Lockhart, she's from someone Will County. She'll
be in today to talk about bussing and the Scout program.
That's their electric vehicle program of very interesting stuff. We
think that's relevant because we know for a fact that
if these are successful in these communities around central Florida,
more than likely you can see other communities reach out,
like the Cocoa Beach area and Cocoa Village area and
things of that nature.

Speaker 5 (11:50):
Yeah, they're having some growing pains though they are.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Yeah, it's only money today, brighter Brown back with us.
Scott'll be back from vacation next week, and of course
we'll do you heard it here. First started watching a
show last night that when I went to the Golden Globes.
My wife came home last night from a trip, so
we were wanted something new. We just finished up The
Beast in Me, so we were like, on the heat
of that, we're ready for another great episodic show. So

(12:12):
what better place to go to find one than the
Golden Globes because that was part of it. Started watching
Dying for Sex last night. Oh there you go with
Michelle Williams. For people who do not know, she discovers
she has stage four bone cancer that metastasized from her
breast cancer, and she has a finite time to live.
Decided that she'd only slept with one person in her life.

(12:34):
She was about to stretch it out a little bit.
She was going and I don't mean that literally. I
mean she was just gonna go out there and see
what's going on with her sex life. Watched two episodes
of that last night. Very interesting shows. We have that
to talk about a little bit later. Anyway, she won
the Golden Globe for Best Actress.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
She did. I don't agree with it.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
I mean, even just from episode one, I thought Claire
Dane's performance in The Beast in Me was a better
performance altogether. But I haven't only seen one episode of
the show, so we'll keep checking it out for sure.
Such plus so much other stuff to talk about today.
What do you get for news today?

Speaker 7 (13:02):
Well, for news, we're going to talk about Florida's governor
delivering his final State of the State address. Meanwhile, a
political analyst is questioning Deming's fundraising efforts. There's quite a
disparity in those numbers there really. Oh and a viral
press conference moment sparks debate. We'll talk about that and
more coming up next during JCS news.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
All right, don't forget your three o'clock hewor is money
that'sn ey Slide over to real Radio Dot fmit's in
that away for your chance at one thousand dollars.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Back in a second. Dev's News and more of the
Jim Colbert shows. They put.

Speaker 9 (13:36):
Big guys so to make ends me have to donate plasma.
You can donate twice a week. It's Saturday to Friday
is when their week is. And you get it based
off of your weight. So there's skinny plasma and fat plasma.
So if you're fatter, you get one thirty a week.
You get fifty on the first and eighty on the second.
At least for the location that Jack is talking about.

Speaker 10 (14:03):
Well, well, well, birthday girl makes me want a mosey
I'm down there and snatch up a handfull of yeh,
you know the risk.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
I see you're grinning Thuter Radio birthday, pretty lady.

Speaker 11 (14:18):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
I haven't heard that in a long time. That's awesome,
That is awesome, thank you.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
All right, welcome back to the Jim Colberg Show, Real
Radio one four point one. If you'd like to wish
to have a happy birthday, you can do that via text,
or you can do it via talk back.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
We'll do that.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Uh seven seven zero three one is how you text us.
Talkbacks are easy as well. Just grab that iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Go to Real Radio.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
There's a little mic there. Use that to record and
send your comment over to Jack. And while you're there,
please make us your number one preset. That helps U
uck quite a bit, guy, Yes, please, please please.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
I'm Jim. There's Jack and Deb has your news.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
It's time for JCS news.

Speaker 12 (14:58):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
This guy kind of push name on.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
Every it's in my contract Edre's.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
The news on the Jim Colberg Show.

Speaker 7 (15:04):
And JCS News is brought to you by that mortgage
guy Don all right, Florida lawmakers are convening in Tallahassee
today for the beginning of the twenty twenty sixth Legislative session.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
The Florida House stands ready, ready to work with anyone
who is willing to put the needs of our state first.
This year, I look.

Speaker 13 (15:24):
Forward to providing voters the opportunity the past meaningful property
tax relief.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Huh.

Speaker 7 (15:29):
Speaker Daniel Perez and Senate President Ben Albritton telling the
members of their chambers that affordability is top of mind
for Floridians. The session will end in March, and the
governor has already called for a special session on redistricting
in April. All right, a Florida Congressman is not running
for another term. I was actually kind of surprised to

(15:49):
see that Republican Neil Dunn, who represents the Panama City
and Tallahassee area, says he's leaving after five terms in
the House.

Speaker 5 (15:58):
Jeez, yeah done.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
Seven.

Speaker 7 (16:00):
Tventy two year old physician, veteran and army surgeon says quote,
the time has come to pass the torch to new
conservative leaders. End quote and return to Panama City to
spend time with family. Governor DeSantis has called again that
redistricting special session for April that could affect the makeup
of Dun's district heading into the future. Yeah, but again

(16:20):
another senior Florida lawmaker who's like, yeah, no, I'm gonna
say this.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
Next election, cych allowed.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
Oh watch over, we're.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Here, thanks all right.

Speaker 7 (16:29):
Governor Ron DeSantis is highlighting all of his accomplishments over
the past eight years as he gives his final State
of the State address. He said he's proud he's made
Florida the state of law and order.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
We are showing that it can be done.

Speaker 14 (16:44):
We're proving that freedom can be preserved, that order can
be maintained, that opportunity can be expanded, and that self
government can in fact endore.

Speaker 7 (16:54):
Now, DeSantis has set his sights on eliminating property taxes
as well as vehicle registration, career an AI Bill of Rights,
beefing up the Rainy Day Fund, educating over indoctrinating, and
nabbing illegal aliens.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
How do you feel about that? It's all nice when
you say that real fast, but obviously it's like, okay, yeah,
who want would you like to not have property taxes? Yes?
But you want to pay for it? Who's going to
suffer for it? Exactly right? Exactly. We're going to lose services.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Weeah, they're supposed to have an omission for the part
of the taxes that supports schools.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
What I read today.

Speaker 7 (17:29):
Yeah, well, I remember when the League of Cities had
someone speak in Tallahassee and they were talking about the
amount of municipalities that just will not be able to
make up the shortfall. And you know, the Rainy Day
Fund at the state, I don't know if they have
that kind of money to keep the municipalities floating for
years to come.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
And it seems how do you grow the rainy Day
fund and unders and finance and subsidize all the cuts
you want to make.

Speaker 7 (17:54):
Especially if you're going to get rid of the toll
roads and the vehicle registration stuff, all of that stuff.

Speaker 4 (17:59):
I mean, yeah, I want to pay less too, but
we pay these things to get certain services and for
a certain quality of life.

Speaker 7 (18:05):
Yeah, exactly, And that's you know, that's especially you know,
my fiance works for a city.

Speaker 5 (18:11):
Yeah, we kind of need that salary.

Speaker 11 (18:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
I don't know if anyone's aware, but.

Speaker 7 (18:17):
You make radio money, yeah, girl, so we really need
that money, all right. Jerry Demings is fundraising efforts in
the governor's race needs to show significant improvement. That's what
University of South Florida political analyst doctor Susan mcmanon said yesterday.
The Orange County mayor is running for the Democratic nomination.
Record show he raised over three hundred thousand.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
Dollars a lot.

Speaker 7 (18:41):
No, while former Congressman David Jolly, how much has he raised?

Speaker 4 (18:45):
Three million?

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Well, there you go, Jazz, he's connected, so it's.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Yeah, three million.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (18:52):
So McManus tells Orlando Sentinel that Demings has about a
month to make a big splash and there will be
a sense of urgency until the next fundraising report is due.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Wow. Yeah, So that's that's kind of shocking, Actually it is.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
But I don't know.

Speaker 7 (19:07):
But outside of the central Florida, does anybody know who
Jerry Demings is?

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Yeah? No, no, not really. I mean they probably no more
of us about his wife than by him, exactly exactly.

Speaker 7 (19:17):
So that really like, because you know, in politics in
this day and age, what three hundred thousand dollars is
going to buy you one television schedule of commercials?

Speaker 4 (19:23):
That is nothing.

Speaker 7 (19:24):
That's nothing, exactly, all right. A former Bay County official
can claim victory in a legal battle with a streaming giant.
A judge Friday sided with former County Commissioner Tommy Ham
in his lawsuit against Netflix. Ham is suing the company
for how it portrayed him in a documentary called Immigration Nation.
Ham claims the film inaccurately portrayed him as exploiting illegal

(19:48):
immigrants who were working for his construction company. The judge
sided with him and ruling the filmmakers acted with malice.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (19:55):
So the ruling means the case can go to trial,
and Ham Tell's News thirteen he looks forward to his.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Day in court, and by that he means to settle.
That's what he looks forward to because now he has
the leverage to settle. He can go to him and
go out how much is really horrible publicity worth?

Speaker 4 (20:11):
And then move forward? And was that Netflix produced or
just it's something that aired on Netflix? Because I think
that makes.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
A difference, right, I would imagine it does you have
to go after Yeah? But again, isn't that slander and libel?
One of the hardest things we're told is the hardest to.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Prove it is.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
But the judge, allowing to move forward, says that they
have enough evidence to at least make a compelling argument,
and sometimes it just dependent on the jury at that point.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 7 (20:36):
So if it does go to trial, looks like he
will get his day in court, all right. Protests are
expected today as Customs and Border Protection plans a recruitment event.
CBP won't even publicly say where the event is being held,
but protests are planned at the Carolyn Park Hilton and
Saint Petersburg today and tomorrow. One protest organizer tells the

(20:58):
Tampa Bay Times they plan to be visible and peaceful.
Like I said, venue details will only be shared after registration,
with demonstrators planning together in Tampa and Saint Pete citing
concerns over immigration enforcement tactics.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
You know, this is.

Speaker 7 (21:13):
Interesting because I don't remember these kinds of stories. They're
not necessarily very prevalent. But this is the second or
third tragic case of this I've heard this year in Florida,
and it seems to be relatively new. Unfortunately, a fourteen
year old boy has died and another is critically hurt
after a sand tunnel oh man collapsed in Citrus County
over the week.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
I remember, like two summers ago, there was like a
spate of these things where it seemed like every other weekend, Yes,
there was somebody dying in a sand tunnel where they're
tunneling through the dunes or on the beach building and
then they just get swallowed up.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
And one of them was a family who was visiting Florida,
and so much so that they now have like emergency
signage at the beach so that if families go to
the beach, their signage saying listen, don't dig a deep
hole thinking that it's just sand and it's real innocuous.
Deputies say the teens had been digging in sugar sand
at Sportsman Park in Inverness. Sugar sand even worse because

(22:09):
of course it's.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Yeah, it just doesn't congeal or not congeal, it doesn't
pack up exactly.

Speaker 7 (22:14):
When the hole caved in, trapping the boys several feet underground,
first responders pulled them out and rushed them to the hospital,
but one did not survive. The Citrus County Sheriff's office
calls it a heartbreaking loss and asked the community to
keep the surviving child and their loved ones in their thoughts.
Crazy A vote today could lead to a new park
in Orange County the school board is expected to vote

(22:36):
to sell Fort Gatland to an anonymous buyer, who will
then donate it to the county. Fort Gatland was the
site of Orlando's first settlement in what year?

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Oh, my goodness, seventeen What do you mean first settlement?
Like settlement from you? You mean settlement all together?

Speaker 7 (22:55):
Well, I just have Fort Gatlin was the site of
Orlando's first settlement in this year.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Seventeen ninety five, seventeen ninety four, eighteen thirty eight.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
Ah, that's what you get, branch offer, smirking, you elite ass.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
I threw you off here, hege.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
It worked for a minute. Then I had to regather.
Let my logic take over. Some bitch almost got me.

Speaker 7 (23:19):
Now in the county, like I said, plans to turn
it into a public park. The County Commission has to
approve a zoning change before the park can be built,
though District three Commissioner Maira Yuribe Tel Spectrum News thirteen,
there are a lot of vested parties who are going
to make sure this is done the right way. Happy
to hear that, all right, Do not follow this next

(23:40):
person's lead. Police in Seminole County are using a recent
traffic stop actually Orange County to remind drivers of a
new law. Altamont Springs Police announced yesterday a man was
pulled over last week on Ronald Reagan Boulevard for having
an obscured license plate. Oh yeah, now before you think, wait,
you know, is my football frame my favorite team?

Speaker 5 (24:01):
Is that what they're talking about?

Speaker 4 (24:02):
No?

Speaker 7 (24:03):
No, The ASPD says the driver had a remote controlled
device in the car that hides.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
The license plate.

Speaker 7 (24:11):
Yep, exactly, and a law you're you got that You're
up to no good?

Speaker 4 (24:16):
Seriously, Yeah, yeah, that's a felony.

Speaker 15 (24:18):
Now.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
They just changed that, not even want six months ago. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
I think it went into effect January first, one of
those news back in October.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Actually, yeah, James Bond, I think he's allowed to have
the rotating plate. Surely everyone else you're up to no good.

Speaker 7 (24:31):
You're up to no good. You're skipping tolls, you're doing something.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
Yeah, what is the excuse for having one of those things?
If you're just kind of cool and exactly nobody's doing it.
You know, I'm gonna do just for fun right real quick. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (24:42):
It's the law that went into effect in October makes
those devices not only illegal, but, as Jimmy just said,
a felony.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
So police seized.

Speaker 7 (24:50):
The device and gave the driver a criminal citation. Wow,
all right, getting ready for the coldest air of the
year of the season of private a while, that's coming
on Friday morning. So Central Florida is preparing for the
coldest air of the season, with several cold weather shelters
opening ahead of this week's snap, including in Ostiola County.

(25:11):
Links buses will provide free transportation to shelters, and pets
can be taken to Ostiola Animal Services. The cold weather
protocol activates when temperatures drop below forty two degrees. The
shelters are expected to be open from Thursday through Sunday.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Get the highs Thursday and Friday here in Center Florida
or fifty seven and fifty six respectfully. That the lows
are going down Thursday night it will be thirty two.

Speaker 16 (25:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
So if you live in the northern.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
Areas of Orlando, like deb and I do up in
Lake County, and you have some sensitive foliage, you may
want to make some plans for that.

Speaker 7 (25:44):
Yeah, you're going to need to cover your plants, bring
your pets inside.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (25:48):
Yeah, no hard freeze that I've heard any anywhere. But
like you just said, if you've got vegetation, maybe you've
just planted or whatever.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
Yeah, only one day over the next eight days is
going to be over seventy degrees is a high?

Speaker 11 (25:58):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Oh yeah, maybe a I don't know, maybe a precursor
for the last blast. Who know.

Speaker 7 (26:03):
That's okay, right, we'll need to remember this in the
middle of August.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Right, all right.

Speaker 7 (26:08):
We hear about stores closing locations all the time, but
not this one. Target is opening a new store near
the Orlando International Airport. Kind of surprising, right, they've been
struggling lately, but the new location on Lake Nona Boulevard
is part of the store's plans to open three hundred
locations over the next decade. Then opening date has not

(26:29):
been announced yet. Interesting, And there was a furniture store
that just announced that it's closing all of its locations,
American Signature Furniture.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
Oh, American Signature.

Speaker 7 (26:38):
Really I didn't see that closing all like their last
eighty locations. So if you're in the market for like
you furniture.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
There's one a couple miles from here in Altamont. I
saw the giants side. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 7 (26:51):
So if you're in the market for furniture, that would
be the place to hit up.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
And that's interesting. I don't know much about the furniture trade.
I've only heard that, you know, if you're going to
buy furniture, go to the Carolinas because you can might
directly from the manufacturer and save a bunch of money.
And I know people who've done that. They take are you.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
All up there and save like a thousand, fifteen hundred
dollars on their furniture. But it's interesting because Trump just
announced not even like two three weeks ago, that he
was going to either lower or omit the tariff for furniture.
So I wonder if that, you know, the tariff that
was on furniture, on the woods or any of the
processes to make furniture.

Speaker 12 (27:24):
Look.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Again, I don't know much about it, but I wonder
if that had a detrimental effect and then it just
kind of went too long.

Speaker 7 (27:30):
Now, I know, I don't know easy, but I think
I'd rather drive over to American Signature Furniture over Announcemont
and save the trip to North Carolina for another time.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
I mean, this is not a going out of business
thing North Carolina. You can o, sister, actually did that?
Got some nice stuff up there.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
Exactly all right.

Speaker 7 (27:45):
There are calls for Saint Augustine to ban horse drawn
carriage rides.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (27:50):
Residents who opposed carriage rides went before the city commission yesterday.
They say carriage rides are cruel to the horses because
they're pulling heavy loads on pavements. Decision was made yesterday
and the discussions will continue.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
I will tell you when you're up there and you
see them line up, because they do it right by
the Bridge of Lions, they you know, it just it
doesn't look like a good life horse. It just doesn't
look like a good life. The horse does not look happy. Uh,
it's just it really is. I've never done one for
that very reason. I can't support it.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
I did you really?

Speaker 7 (28:20):
Thirty three years ago, yeah, and ever since then. It's
kind of like the carriage horses in New York.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
They do in New Orleans as well, and insane thing. Yeah,
it's just God of Mighty, it just doesn't look Now,
the horses in New Orleans. It's kind of cool because
they actually have a built in area with troughs so
when the horses come up they have. I mean they're
taken care of quite well there, but the ones in St.
Augustine the last I saw them, just again, it just
doesn't look like a happy existence for the animal.

Speaker 7 (28:43):
And hell, check out the stables they're kept in in
New York City.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
Oh it's terrible. Yeah, it really is.

Speaker 5 (28:49):
I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
There's the one to Central Park.

Speaker 7 (28:51):
Yeah, Central Park, So yeah, I'm with you on that one.
There's other ways, right, Yeah, you have these great old
cars that can do an electric battery.

Speaker 4 (28:59):
Yeah, have to worry about the horse apples.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
I guess they're leaning on the romantic aspect of it
being that thing, like, you know, the whole sound and
the I don't know though, man.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
You bunch of Libya who didn't see that coming forecast?

Speaker 11 (29:16):
What?

Speaker 4 (29:17):
This country was built on the back of the horse, right, right,
But we don't need to break those backs anymore. Most
important animal in US history.

Speaker 7 (29:24):
All right, sticking up in the northeast of Florida.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
A h what wondering that's a good I guess it
would be. You could say, yeah, it's the most important
animal in US history outside of the buffalo.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Buffalo they slaughtered, they killed all the buffalo to keep
the Indians from eating. And because they were led on
the buffalo so much for their culture, that's why we
killed them all. We slaughtered millions of buffaloes trying to
run the Native Americans out of our country.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Is there a more of our country out of their country?
I should say, not going to be born for a
couple of hundred years, but I want to al ya
get out of here.

Speaker 7 (30:01):
Redskin staying up in Northeast Florida. A Jacksonville Jaguars press
conference is sparking national debate. Actually, Jacksonville Free Press reporter
Lynn Jones Turpin went viral after offering words of encouragement
to head coach Liam Kohene following Sunday's playoff loss to Buffalo,
instead of asking a question. If you haven't heard the audio,

(30:22):
here it is you.

Speaker 17 (30:23):
Congratulations on your success, young man. You hold your head up,
all right. You guys have had a most magnificent season.

Speaker 18 (30:29):
He did a great job out there today.

Speaker 17 (30:31):
So you just hold your head up, okay, And ladies
and gentlemen, duvall you the one. All right, We keep
it going. We got another season, Okaypiate take care of
much continued success to you and the entire team, Thank you,
man Duvall.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
I heard that this morning.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
I swear to got it. I went not to unpunch
the tree. I was like, I feel I'm ready to
go if they don't walk that woman into every NFL
locker room or in every Jags game over the locker
room and have them have her give a speech to
that team to get their asses on fire.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
Dude, somebody up there in PR does not know what
they're doing well. Some praise the exchange.

Speaker 7 (31:05):
Some praise the exchange as heartfelt, while others called it unprofessional,
including the AP reporter who is stationed up in Jacksonville
said called it fake. Media said it made a mockery
of everything.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
Pat McAfee sports yep, oh yeah, Pat McAfee, if you
won't find somebody who makes a mockery of everything.

Speaker 7 (31:24):
But Pat McAfee came out in fierce defense of her
and saying, listen, this is exactly the kind of sportsmanlike
conduct we want.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
To see it from. Asking you question, wrong with that? Yeah?
I didn't think so either. Yeah, I'm glad I finally
have someone to agree with that jackass on. I like it,
and I'm the one I won money for that guy. Losing.
I'm happy about that too.

Speaker 7 (31:45):
See now Jones Turpin, who has covered the team since
its inaugural season, so this is not some CUB reporter,
says she stands by her comments and takes quote no
offense end quote to critics, saying she's just been around
the block for too long and she knows what she
is doing. But like I said, Pat McAfee and others
have come out in defense of her.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
She's getting to the point in her career and age
and in life where she doesn't zero yeah, yeah, So
good for her. Exactly. I got something to say. I'm
gonna say it. I about one hundred people to watch
that got better grades.

Speaker 7 (32:14):
That day, and that concludes your JCS news.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
Four seven nine better than the other one. I would
take that fifty times over all, right, seven seven zero
three one. Lit them up, guys.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
We're gonna do the Froggers football follow up. One of
you guys that there's gonna I'm gonna win a twenty
five dollars gift card. The Frogger's Billamarr will do that next.

Speaker 1 (32:37):

your choose to win.

Speaker 2 (32:41):

lose at Froggers. And we made sure we extended this
contest through the playoffs because we get fed on Thursday

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Absolutely Okay, So truthfully, I do not know who did
what this weekend. I remember my picks, but I do
not remember how everybody else went.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
And this is what happens. When we get in the playoffs.
We have a little different pool. So we print up
a sheet. We each mark off the sheet each week,
I collect all four. We do the total points in
the final game of the week, so we have a
tie breaker in case there's a tie. And so I
have all the results right in front of me. And remember,

(34:28):
Russ did really well in the season, and I don't
have to see the long results. Dead did well. Everyone
did well except Jim. Yeah's a bad year for me,
Yes it was. However, remember it was terrible. Past performance
is not indicative of future results. It's anyone's game each
and every week. It's the playoffs. Maybe we're talking about

(34:48):
the playoffs. One of the four of us, we made
all our picks on the air on Thursday. So if
you're paying attention, you got a pretty good idea on
who won all right, Deb, one, two, three, four, or five?

Speaker 5 (35:01):
Let's go number one?

Speaker 4 (35:02):
Number one is Kim? Kim? How you doing doing great? Kim?
All right? Who is it?

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Ross, Jack, Jim or Deb? Who won this week in
the NFL playoff action?

Speaker 4 (35:15):
I'm go with Deb. Oh you know, it is Deb's birthday, Kim,
and so we would love to be able to tell
you that she was triumphant this week. Out of the
six games, she only got two of them correct, so
she actually finished in last place. Kim. Sorry, Kim, have
that Packers game wrong? All right? Two, three, four or five?

(35:39):
Let's go to get right on the line here, Steve, Steve,
how you doing, buddy? Glad to hear that. All right?
Deb is off the table.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
She's chosen and did not win myself, Jack and Ross
are still up for grabs, Buddy, Who do you think
had the best weekend?

Speaker 4 (35:54):
I'm gonna go with oh, Ross, he actually did have
the best season overall. However, he did finish in third
place with three right and three wrong, So I'm sorry
that is a loser of the pick. Who could be
happier that he lost? Couldn't be happier. He deserved to

(36:16):
be brought down to his rutting.

Speaker 5 (36:17):
On the size is saying something still four?

Speaker 4 (36:21):
All right? Four is Billy? Billy? How you doing? I'm
doing wonderful.

Speaker 19 (36:26):
But the confidence that you said earlier, I'm gonna go with.

Speaker 20 (36:29):
You, Jim.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
Oh, And with the confidence, I can tell you that
Jim did not win. Serious? Do we not tie? Jim? Sorry, Billy,
Jim had just one game wrong, the Jaguars over the Bills.
He had that game could have gotten either way. He
had just one wrong, which forced it to our winner,

(36:52):
who also had one wrong because he took the Steelers,
which was the game last night. What was the point?
It came down the point I picked thirty nine points,
you had fifty eight. The title was thirty six, Bradshaw,
Jim is our first loser. Alright, week? All right, damn it?
Sophie's choice three or five? Oh? Jack? You picked three

(37:14):
or five? I can't I already interview. I know these
are all right? Five? Lisa, Sorry, sorry, Mike Larson, Lisa,
how you doing, old Mike, I'm awesome.

Speaker 21 (37:27):
Thank you guys, my first time calling.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
It was the perfect time. Tell me who do you
who do you think won this week? Hey?

Speaker 22 (37:35):
Jack?

Speaker 4 (37:37):
Jack? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Boy, we need a rivet River, Lisa, you got a
twenty five dollars gift card to Frocker's Grillamar headed your way.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
I need one thing from you, you winner, Jack, lave
all your fictions just one second. Man, what a great
weeknd of football. My god, old Bidy ran the table.

Speaker 12 (37:58):
Man.

Speaker 4 (37:58):
I wish I could have done this well on my
hard rock bet. But every bet I won there were
to be two I lost. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
I texted Jack and I said, I don't remember what
everybody had.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
I said, I think I'm all right. He goes, he goes,
you think, yeah, you said, I only have one wrong
and Jack goes, I didn't miss any. And then going
into the game last night, I said, well, who'd you take?
He said, because we can't change it because it was
it was odd. It was like it was an analog
this week. Yeah, And I said, he goes Pittsburgh and
I go, damn good because I took the Texans and.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
I knew they were going to smoke Pittsburgh. I didn't
know that Pittsburgh was only to score six points.

Speaker 4 (38:33):
Though.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Yeah, you know, if they just come around and score
like a couple of touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
I'm right there. It's the best. It's the bet I
felt the least confident about but I think I was
trying to will Pittsack. I wanted to see Pittsburgh, you know,
and advance defense too much.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Yeah, at Texas defenses too much, and I will tell
you who who plays them next.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
I have to look at next week. Well, I will
make our picks on Thursday. When I left that game,
it was seven to six and I scored twenty four
points in the fourth quarter or twenty three points in
the fourth quorder. They went crazy. What a game. Unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (39:04):

not the first episode, and boy, I'm glad we started
there because it was episode one, season one. They're now
in their second season, but we're season one. Episode one

(41:45):
of is Florida Man, which is an HBO Max series
where they take true Florida stories and exploit the hell
out of them. One percent. They have actors. They have actors,
actors that you know, do portrayal of it so you'll
see familiar faces. But they also had the real people involved,

(42:05):
you know, narrating that story while the actors they will
cut to the clips they've cut or they've recorded for
that at least that's how they did it in the
first episode. And you could not ask for a better
subject than Eric from Central cast Thing, who is so perfect, funny,
over the top. It was like, you know, if you

(42:27):
invented this guy, you could not do as good a
job as the guy who this actually happened to.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
After the first five minutes, could not believe this guy
was not from Putnam County. I cannot believe I'm not
related to him, because I do have a cousin that
fits this mold quite well. And at least twenty percent
of my graduating class falls well within this umbrella. Like, look,
can I tell you something. I'm gonna be dead honest
with you. This is a number of dudes I grew
up with. And I will tell you most people in

(42:56):
Central Florida who grew up really if you grew out
outside of Orlando, Proper or Winter Parker Ney, the established
neighborhoods if you're from like Ovido, Geneva, Sandford, this area here,
Baby on the coast, the rock Lageria, something like that.
You know these people like they're airboat people. They're all
the same people. They're wonderful people, but they just sometimes
don't have a lot of sense.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
And this guy long lost his Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
mean this guy was. It's proof that guy loves dumb
people too. Oh man, this guy was because there's a
lot of divine intervention on this guy's I'm sitting here
listening to it and I stop it and I look
at deb and I said, first three minutes, there's like
five trucker hats statements that were made, like immediately, this

(43:36):
guy just comes out with bomb after bomb, and it's
all stuff that he buys that he believes. But it's
just like one foam trucker hat after the next.

Speaker 7 (43:45):
It may not be the sharpest tool in the shed,
but I will stab you with the sharpest tool in
the shed.

Speaker 4 (43:50):
Yeah. The episode one is called Gator and it's about
this guy true story who went swimming in a lake
at night. Well it's more than that.

Speaker 16 (44:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
Yeah, yeah, it's so much more. He felt a calling
to jump a barbed wire fence.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
And wander back into the woods. He felt a calling
to do it. He goes, I don't even know what happened.
I just found this colin and go over that fence
and go walking. And he goes back into the woods.
It gets lost, and as he's lost, he stumbles across
this lake. He's you know, he says, I'm cut up,
I'm beat up, I'm eating by everything. I'm gonna get
out in that water.

Speaker 4 (44:22):
It look good. I'm gonna swim in it. Gets out there.

Speaker 3 (44:25):
About halfway out to a swimm, he realizes, oh s,
that's right, I forget there are dinosaurs in these lakes.

Speaker 11 (44:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (44:31):
That's after dropping his boots and his hands exactly because
they were weighing him.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
Down in the water, and then has not to you know,
I'm not gonna spoil it her anything. Yeah, face to
face encounter with a gator. Yeah, and it went poorly
for one part of his body.

Speaker 7 (44:45):
Yeah, but you know what, but that that was to me,
I was like, okay, well I'm expecting that part.

Speaker 4 (44:52):
It was the time. I mean, this guy after the
fast ten minute that was not even halfway into the program,
and there was so much to happen.

Speaker 7 (45:00):
This guy is like the Twinkie of human beings to
have survived as long as he did. Again, no spoiler alerts.

Speaker 4 (45:08):
But he wasn't rescued right away. No, he wasn't.

Speaker 7 (45:10):
And then the guy who founded found him ends up
having more pst PTSD than the victim himself. He looks
shell shocked when he talked about seeing him naked.

Speaker 4 (45:20):
And no kidding, and I just think, so, this guy
is driving, he hears the yelling, he stops, he gets out,
he sees this guy like naked, covered in mud and blood,
and I'm just thinking, it's like, I wouldn't put him
in my car. No way. I don't know. If I stop,
I'll talk to you from over here. Yeah, I'll call
you an ambulance.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
Bro, I don't know how this happened. I don't know
what the other person looks like, if there's another person.

Speaker 7 (45:40):
My my favorite part of two is like, don't bother
calling the ambulance, don't bother calling a firefighter.

Speaker 4 (45:45):
Just give me a bottle of water. Water, I just
need water.

Speaker 3 (45:50):
The episode starts with him being thrown out of his
girlfriend's trailer. She doesn't even bother opening to the door.
Everything just goes through the cap window out there. You know,
I don't know what happened in my life. I'm just
driving to all his fans. So I've jumped over it
and here we go.

Speaker 4 (46:05):
Oh it's so fun. Oh my god.

Speaker 7 (46:06):
Because before he jumped the fence, he was walking around
the park picking up little piles of garbage. These people
playing horseshoes are like, what's this random dude out there
doing picking up little pieces of garbage?

Speaker 4 (46:17):
I mean, sure's just saying so this series, it's Florida Man,
it's Florida Man. Stories that are you know, you acted
out and you know they interview him, but also they
have you know, actor portrayals. But textans are saying, it's
many of the stories we've been talking about for the
last thirty years on your stage. Sure they just turned
somebody had the balls over there at HBO Mexico.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
You know what, this is good TV. Ain't gonna tell
you that guy deserves a raise because it is great TV.
I have to tell you, like I'm I'm super interested
in the rest of the stories now, if anything, just
to see where they happen. I've never even heard of
Maya Laca Lake or whatever the hell wherever this was.

Speaker 4 (46:51):
Oh, I bet you have.

Speaker 7 (46:52):
It's like done my Sarasota or something, right, yeah, yeah,
And every one of these stories, you know they're gonna
have the guy who tossed the gators through, the Wendy's through.
We could come up with our own Florida Man stories
just to see which ones they cover.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
It's just the news every day in this state. It
is crazy.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
It was originally from Ohio, moved here when he was
five years old, and he goes, you know, just considers
himself of Florida man. The end of it is the
craziest part. The end of it is completely insane.

Speaker 4 (47:19):
Probably the most Florida of the Florida Park dude stands
there while doing this interview. By the way, the nature
expert they brought out Chef's kiss that guy. I don't
know who's more dangerous all of them, all of the
people they interviewed. He seems like the most normal cat
is imagine tiger king in this state.

Speaker 3 (47:40):
Like the kind of people, the ilk of humanity that
kind of rotated or no, I'm not saying it's bad,
like nose off the ilk of people that hung around
Tiger King is exactly like the central casting of this thing.

Speaker 4 (47:54):
Super funny.

Speaker 3 (47:54):
But dude was standing there in the road on the
area where he came out of the woods as they're
filming the segment and starts getting emotional about wanting to.

Speaker 4 (48:03):
Go back into the lake and do it again and
do it again. And the guy asked him why. He goes,
I don't know, man, it's just a col and I
can't I can't explain.

Speaker 11 (48:10):
To me that.

Speaker 7 (48:11):
The thing to me is that you found that the
most amazing The most amazing thing that I learned is
that now he's a motivational speaker.

Speaker 4 (48:18):
Oh yeah, that's right. What was the thing he was
talking to the people in the church about, you got
the swamp in. You're in the swamp and sometimes the
swamp is in you like that, And they had to
say that now you're in the swamp. And then the
congregation goes and the swamp sing you you're in.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
The swamp and the swamp thing. You imagine like forty
people in the church saying this no acy, of course,
not no asy, so good. I mean it's I should
hate this.

Speaker 4 (48:46):
I have one there is a question, and they could
have answered it. They kind of alluded to what might
have happened, but it wasn't a medical expert. Yeah, how
do you not bleed out? They said that.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
No, no, that They actually said that the compression of
the more than likely like press.

Speaker 4 (49:02):
Everything down and it can jeal to the point where
it actually stopped it stopped bleeding. That he should have
bled out. Yeah, they said more than Like so I'm like, well,
is that exactly what happened? Yeah? Yeah, you know people
who dip they have a spit cup. Yeah, that dude
is a spit cup come to life. If if a
spit cup could get up and walk away, it would

(49:23):
be this guy that's in this show.

Speaker 8 (49:24):
And I love him.

Speaker 3 (49:25):
I want to have a beer with him tomorrow, I
swear in my life, and and kind of honest, honestly,
I may actually start contacting every one of these people
to come in and do an interview. Why it almost
it almost like we do an entire segment just an
interview with these people that were featured on this Florida
Man thing, because I mean, they're fascinating people.

Speaker 7 (49:41):
How about it if I take a picture of you,
that's like watching Jim Coulper take a photo of the
film crew.

Speaker 18 (49:50):
So good.

Speaker 4 (49:51):
If you haven't seen it, check it out HBO Max.
It's called It's Florida. Man.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
We did episode one, season one, and I will I
will definitely mo toward watching some more of that, probably with.

Speaker 4 (50:01):
My wife tonight. But goes oh man, exactly. We get
a kick out it.

Speaker 3 (50:05):
She knows a bunch of them, she knows a bunch
of these guys, a bunch of Eric's out there, and
the same Virginia of Aria. Good people, wonderful people.

Speaker 7 (50:12):
Hey, they can survive for days in a swamp drinking mudwater.

Speaker 4 (50:16):
Oh yeah, okay, so good.

Speaker 3 (50:17):
All right, here's what I have for you, guys. We're
gonna break the norm. We'll not break the norm, but
we're gonna kind of move on with something I start
or ended last year with. And I'm gonna give you,
guys another hip hop album that had a massive influence
on me as a young man. I say, young man,
this broke about the same time the show was starting,
I say, the monsters.

Speaker 4 (50:33):
Okay. So back in ninety four is a band called
Clips k R C L I p S E Clips.

Speaker 3 (50:39):
It's a Virginia Beach hip Hop duo. It's actually two
brothers and they hooked up with Farrell and made this
album Cold.

Speaker 4 (50:50):
Oh God, I love the all Gods all for time.
Now I have to go find it again. I have
to find it again because because they have they have
a couple of them and I have to find out
which one I want. Hold on what set, guys. Lord
Willin is the name of the album. All right.

Speaker 3 (51:10):
It came out in two thousand and two. These guys
started in ninety four, but that record came out in
two thousand and two. It's got two songs on it
that are stone cold, legendary songs.

Speaker 4 (51:22):
Grinding and like this I think is the name of
the tune. And you are going to love it. It's super,
super interesting and I think you're gonna love when the
last time is the name of the tune. So check
it out.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
Is clips Lord Willin. That is my choice for what
you do. That's new you guys, check it out as well.
Let's take little break back in a second with more
of the Jim Colbert.

Speaker 23 (51:44):
SHOWTCH proudly sponsored since day one by Glyn Klausmanclosmanlaw dot com.

Speaker 1 (51:59):
Hi, Hey guys.

Speaker 13 (52:04):
As far as the horse carriage ride goes. I did
it in Philadelphia around the Independence Hall area. Those horses
can pull five times what they're doing with those carriages.
They're just walking around having a good time my opinion.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
All right, that's fun.

Speaker 11 (52:26):
Cover crew, Thank you, Hey, I was it o'hannah. Oh yep,
that day is.

Speaker 24 (52:38):
Coming up here in a couple just a depth just
in case you're getting ready to start a little vacation.

Speaker 1 (52:45):
Take a break from the radio station.

Speaker 24 (52:48):
Holy la Hanau, wishing you the greatest, the best, the
happiest of all birthdays, this and many more to come.

Speaker 4 (52:59):
Hello, I love Why does it seem what does it
seem like? It has more weight when he says it
when he does the Hawaiian When he does that, does
he slows down his cadence. It's like he's taking a
breath in between each word, so you're like you're leaning in.
It's like it's like a chief is telling me where
to go. It's like this gather around children, the great

(53:20):
Hawaiian Chief will guide Jae. I just always like having
the same out of aloha. Okay, okay, I know it's
not all right.

Speaker 3 (53:26):
Four oh seven nine four one text us at seven
seven zero three one or four o'clock. Keyword is bonus.
That's bo n us. Slide over to you real radio
dot FM ands and then I'll for your chance at
one thousand dollars.

Speaker 4 (53:37):
Jim, there's dead.

Speaker 3 (53:38):
Hello, Jack is here as well. Aloha a little ha brother,
we have to talk about today. Goodness gracious, it's so funny.
I mentioned yesterday I couldnot believe that Joe Rogan did
not get nominated for a Golden Globe for his podcast.
I read a story on that because obviously that was
a thing today in the news.

Speaker 7 (53:58):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (53:59):
People wondering how the number one podcast in America doesn't
make it onto the podcast choice for Golden Globes, especially
when you see the other podcasts that made it aren't
necessarily as popular as Joe's. And they tried to open
an opinion in the sense that well, we're not doing
news based shows. We're not doing this, we're not doing that,
We're not doing this. But there are a number of

(54:20):
shows like none of the murder podcasts made it on either.
There are also some of the most popular podcasts out there.
I did notice one thing, however, how many of those
podcasts had Hollywood people involved with them.

Speaker 4 (54:30):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, okay, an the ones that
were nominated, Yeah, most of them. Yeah. Amy Poehler is
a Hollywood person. She is a known entertainer.

Speaker 3 (54:37):
Every single member of SmartLess SmartLess is not only a
Hollywood member. Every one of those dudes is a stone
cold megastar. Bateman is a megastar directing and acting, Sean
Hayes megastar Broadway and acting, and of course Will Arnett
megastar television movies voiceovers. His movie right Now about stand

(55:00):
Up is supposed to be unbelievably good.

Speaker 4 (55:03):
Have you seen that? The sponsor for it? Yeah, I
want to see it. Bradley Cooper directed it and he's
also in it, right right right? They used to be
a roommate. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I want to check that
out for sure. But you know, Rogan doesn't make it
on there, and I man, I gotta tell you it
sucks because you really do think that I'm not even
a Rogan guy. Like I listen to the other some
of those other podcasts way before I listen to Rogan.
But you know, I mean, the facts are the facts.

(55:23):
The dude's got the best podcast in America, are the
most popular podcasts in America.

Speaker 3 (55:27):
He should have been nominated and for them to make
up some bs excuse it. I think we all kind
of understand why Joe's not there. He doesn't really fit
the mold of what Hollywood would like to reward, I'm sure,
but I do find that amazing. And I saw that
in the news today about how they chose the podcast
that made it up there, and the writer said, well,
what about all the Murder Show podcasts? Those are also

(55:49):
some of the most popular ones out there. Mel Robbins
made it on that list, an author that nobody's heard
of until like two years ago.

Speaker 4 (55:56):
Yeah, well you, but also you're saying the Hollywood, However,
the Golden Globes is an international organization. I understand that.
So I mean, I, yes, they leaned towards Hollywood because that,
I that's what you know, where they get all their content,
and that, you know, gives them a reason new exist. However,

(56:16):
it's I believe it's a few hundred international journalists. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
Alex Cooper's Call Call Her Daddy made it, Mel Robson
made it, and of course we already mentioned the others
as well. Arm Safe, Armchair Expert made it. Those are
two Hollywood people. None of them were controversial. Yeah, yeah, no,
But I mean is that is that a true representation
of the podcast world. I mean, if you're giving you
a podcast award and you're not saying a podcast for

(56:42):
this or podcast for that, you're simply saying podcast.

Speaker 4 (56:47):
Yeah. Well, the first time they gave the you know,
the Grammys gave out a heavy metal of it.

Speaker 3 (56:56):
Whatever against Metallica considered but you know, one of the
mount Rushmore bands for metal music. So yeah, it happens,
all right, four seven nine one six one four one
text us and seven ten zero three one. I do
have a silly idea for a business, and uh, I
want to see what you guys think about this?

Speaker 5 (57:12):
All right, Well we're a waiting.

Speaker 4 (57:14):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm trying to think of how I'm
gonna word this.

Speaker 5 (57:18):
Is it dirty?

Speaker 3 (57:19):
Let me ask you a question. I don't know, it's
not asking, it's not dirty, I promise. Do you ever
ride with your wife while she drives?

Speaker 4 (57:26):
Yes? Do you ride with your fiance while he drives?

Speaker 11 (57:29):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (57:29):
Okay, who drives most when you guys go places together?

Speaker 4 (57:33):
Chris?

Speaker 3 (57:34):
Chris drives most, but he does ride with you occasionally, right, yeah, yeah,
he does though, right?

Speaker 4 (57:39):
Yes, okay, I see that smile. You know where I'm going?

Speaker 5 (57:41):
Jack, Not really, I was thinking of his fear.

Speaker 4 (57:43):
Do you ride when Naomi is driving? Yeah? Most of
the time. Most of the time because when you go
out we're doing things. She doesn't drink. You have got
to drink that she's designated driver. But if I'm not drinking,
then I would be driving, right right. I enjoy it.
I think I'm in a rarity. I almost always.

Speaker 3 (58:01):
If my wife and I are going somewhere together, if
she doesn't have to put her makeup on, she drives,
I ride, and I don't.

Speaker 4 (58:08):
She just likes to drive. I don't mind riding, so
I don't have any problem with check that you don't
mind riding with her. You have stated you hate riding
with everyone else. Okay, so that's my wife. You know.
I don't like riding places because I don't know when
I'm going to be leaving. Okay. If it was with
my wife and I needed to leave, I would be got,
we gotta go, and she would just go, we gotta go.

(58:30):
Let's go. You cool If your kid is going somewhere
and you hop in the passenger seat with your kid driving.

Speaker 3 (58:35):
Oh man, No, I don't write. Oh god, I don't
really write with my kids. I wrote with one of
my kids one time, and my daughter, and I told
her I would never ride with her again in the
history of my life.

Speaker 4 (58:45):
I'll never ride with her again.

Speaker 3 (58:47):
It's just so completely clueless to what she's doing out there.
It's horrifying that she actually makes it around the city
without dying five times a day like a video game.

Speaker 4 (58:55):
You don't mind being a passenger as long as it's
your wife driving right right. But that's exactly what I'm
talking about, all right. You mentioned it, deb How does
Chris think you drive?

Speaker 5 (59:06):
Oh, I'm sure like a maniac?

Speaker 4 (59:07):
Like a maniac. Does he mention it when he drives
with you, or when he rides with you, or like,
oh my god, or if does he hold on tight
or anything like that.

Speaker 5 (59:13):
No, he'll read the newspaper or read his phone.

Speaker 4 (59:15):
Your your wife seems like a relatively safe driver. Is
that accurate? Relatively safe? So safe? It drives to be
not right right too safe? Right? Yeah, right hand lane,
and there's thirty eight miles an hour. She is a
very good driver. Yeh yeah. Yeah. She came to it late.
She only got her license at thirty. Oh really okay, Yeah,
my wife is a stark, raving maniac at a driver,

(59:38):
So are you okay? Now listen, here's the problem, right.

Speaker 7 (59:44):
It's two maniacs together, one canceling out another maniac.

Speaker 3 (59:47):
When I ride with her, it's horrifying. She drives super
agro and she believes in her vehicle. She pushes it
to the edges. It's all the time, putting on mascara, right, horror, horrifying.
If I say one peep, If I say one peep,
she's ah, you drive like this all the time, blah

(01:00:08):
blah blah, and not like I do not even come
close to driving like this. I don't, I promise, I
am relatively self aware. I would tell you if it
was a one to one ratio, it ain't even close.

Speaker 7 (01:00:19):
Well, then I am too terrified to ride with Tori,
because Rows and I rode with you once when you
use the emergency lane to get around someone who wasn't
moving just quickly enough.

Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
But that may have been just to scare you and
have a little fun.

Speaker 7 (01:00:31):
That Wass and I looked at each other like, I
don't know if we're gonna make it through.

Speaker 4 (01:00:35):
You are just fine.

Speaker 5 (01:00:36):
I want you to know that it's been nice working
with you.

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
There needs to be somewhere there needs to be a
business where you could take your your mate and you
can have them ride with you so that they can
see exactly how poorly they drive. I'm telling you this
is a billion our business idea waiting to happen. If

(01:01:01):
there's ever an argument about who drives what, you take
them to this business and you go. You sit in
this car and I'm going to drive this exactly how
you drive me.

Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
We could take some data down from our computers in
our cars to show the acceleration and braking rates, or
how fast you're going when you're cornering. And I'm telling
you straight up, there is a dissonance when it comes
to what people experience and what they think. They cause
people to experience, an unbelievable dissonance. She believes that I
am a worse driver than her. But I will tell

(01:01:34):
you when she rides with me and I'm driving, she
is like, oh my god, you know so fast. I'm
my god, you stop so fast? Your corner too fast?
If I said even one time how often she does that,
She's like, you drive like this all the time. Man,
I don't. It's not even close.

Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
But I want something to really illustrate to her what
it's like writing with her. So I would like to
be in a program somehow and be able to punch
it into an electric car that's self driving, and would
pay the operative and then put her in the passenger
seat and say, you know what, hold on, this is
what it's like writing with you.

Speaker 7 (01:02:05):
And then right next door to said business would be
a marital therapy.

Speaker 4 (01:02:09):
It would be in the car. The mediator would be
in the backseat. Couples therapy. Driving. Yes, go into couple therapy,
so you can win some arguments, right, buddy, Listen, If
I could program a vehicle and I could say I
took all the stats from her car, right, because every

(01:02:29):
car has a computer insurance they have it.

Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
I can download all the information for her vehicle onto
the vehicle, the test vehicle. I put her in the
passenger seat, and I push go. That vehicle drives her
around exactly like she drives around, Just to give her
an idea of what it's like writing with her.

Speaker 5 (01:02:49):
She's not going to believe you.

Speaker 4 (01:02:50):
Oh, I know, she doesn't believe me.

Speaker 7 (01:02:53):
He would not even be in the car exactly you
altered the data.

Speaker 5 (01:02:57):
I'm sure this isn't my real data.

Speaker 4 (01:02:58):
But oh yeah, yeah yeah, oh yeah, fake info. Oh man,
I'm telling you it's fake news, fake data, fada. I
would do that in five seconds, and can I tell
you that it would be It would be neat to
have a machine that does that, Like like something where
you could say to somebody who thinks that you do,

(01:03:21):
and then they do the exact same thing. But like, oh,
I don't drive that bad. I'm like you, you do?

Speaker 16 (01:03:27):
You do?

Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
You drive that poorly? You drive so aggressively, and look,
I get it. I'm an agro guy too when I'm
on the road sometimes. But I've chilled out a lot.
I've chilled out a lot. Dude, You've blown by me
fifteen times on the way home.

Speaker 4 (01:03:39):
But that's okay.

Speaker 7 (01:03:40):
That's because you're busy tailgating the person next to you.
They could literally see the sesame see between your front teeth.
The only time you'd chill is when you get on
the four fourteen. Up until that point, they can see
everything in between your front teeth.

Speaker 4 (01:03:53):
You're that closed. Would you think this would work it
for you? Oh no, yeah, yeah, yeah. You couldn't put
Chris in a card in the program, deb into that
bitch and then have even come back to you.

Speaker 7 (01:04:01):
No, because I'd come back and wait, they didn't do
that curve quick enough.

Speaker 5 (01:04:04):
Let's go back and reach.

Speaker 4 (01:04:06):
I want all the debt stats of the car.

Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
And then put Chris in the driver's seat and say
is this anything like riding with deb?

Speaker 4 (01:04:12):
Go? And when he gets out, hair looks like you
just got out of a wind tunnel. I love how
proud Deb is of what of aggressive drivers? Shop?

Speaker 7 (01:04:20):
I am not an aggressive driver. I'm a fast driver.
There is a difference.

Speaker 4 (01:04:23):
I use a wave, but there's a gigantic difference.

Speaker 5 (01:04:26):
In the difference.

Speaker 7 (01:04:26):
Now, I will do everything in my power to get
as far into the right hand lane as I can.
I don't want any of that small left lane.

Speaker 4 (01:04:33):
And I'll here's some levity. We can also make a
room that says, hey, money, I cleaned the kitchen, and
then have my wife in there and go, Nope, you
didn't clean the kitchen. This is you know.

Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
And so in other words, there could be a room
where when I walk into it, I clean the kitchen.
I have to do it exactly how she does it,
so it's quote unquote Tory clean because she.

Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
Likes it in mega clean. I don't you mean just clean.
I like how that's the levity and not the idea
of him being a better driver than Tori.

Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
I am a better driver than Toy, but she's a
better cleaner than I am.

Speaker 4 (01:05:04):
She likes things really really clean. I like it clean.
If you don't look so close, would you get bad?
I like clean? Anyway? She admit that you're the better driver?

Speaker 3 (01:05:13):
Oh no, no, not even if you called her right now,
she'd leave work and to come out here and slap
both of us, or even for even suggesting it.

Speaker 4 (01:05:20):
And she's really busy.

Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
She would come here and slap the sense out of
both of us for even assuming. But I'm telling you
straight up, she's just kind of unaware.

Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
Is this your question of the day, who's the better driver?
You are your partner?

Speaker 16 (01:05:32):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:05:33):
Yeah, put that outher. That's fine.

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
I think I think most dudes will probably say their
wives are better drivers.

Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
I mean, I want to know, are you serious?

Speaker 5 (01:05:42):
I am absolutely serious.

Speaker 4 (01:05:44):
Let's find what's better. Safer? Right?

Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
Safer is better right following the speed limit within reason,
Like if you have a sixty mile hours speed limit,
we'll allow like sixty five sixty six miles an hour.

Speaker 5 (01:05:53):
Oh, then you're definitely not a safe driver.

Speaker 4 (01:05:55):
What do you mean not a safe driver? That's perfectly safe.

Speaker 3 (01:05:57):
Like when I get on the four fourteen, it's like
a sixty five go seventy two miles an hour all
the way home.

Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
Set. My first thing I do is setting my grooves,
control all. What does that smirk for just saying you're
not saying anything. It's all the agro stuff before you
get there. I'm not an aggressive driver. Well you're you're
not an aggressive driver at all. Jack, Your wife could
not say anything like that about what are you laughing at?

(01:06:24):
I look up. He's laughing with his arms cross. He's
picking his picking his arms and laughing. You are picking?
Stop you got anxieties that what's happening? It's a great idea. Okay.
They'd love to see a remote show. One time. We
rent a van. We do the show from the back
and you dry. No, I want to live for you
to say that is so clinically insane. We each take

(01:06:47):
an hour each dry for an hour. Devis chirp that
little Honda around me, fifty down, two wheels, one hundred times. Guys,
But I listen. We leave the building in different ways.
I go to one light to the other. Inevitably she
goes in front of me four times a week. You
know how, I know that it's the burnout she does
from the light. She's act well, I'm waiting to go

(01:07:09):
through the same light.

Speaker 7 (01:07:10):
Would you stop asking maitland Popo to start hanging around here?

Speaker 5 (01:07:13):
No, I do not do burnout.

Speaker 4 (01:07:16):
He just goes to the wrong light. I put by
window down to hear you. You're the old chirp.

Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
Oh my god, almighty. How many dudes ride with their wives?
I think more Daniel Dennis does it a lot. His
wife rides almost anywhere they go. I think it's more common.

Speaker 4 (01:07:37):
I think it's anyone except for people from Palatka.

Speaker 3 (01:07:40):
But I have to tell you, I think that's kind
of a thing because dudes didn't used to do that.
It wasn't it considered not manly if you didn't drive
your wife around. And now I think I know a
lot of guys who just ride their wives like to drive,
and I have no problem doing it. You know, I'm
a Blessed Haven designated driver wherever.

Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
What do you think the percentages for you when you
guys drive is it you him ninety percent of the time.

Speaker 7 (01:08:06):
Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, just a room of your vehicle.
It's more comfortable for him, you know. I like my
cars that are low.

Speaker 4 (01:08:12):
Yeah, he doesn't drive your car.

Speaker 7 (01:08:14):
Every once in a while, you know, but it's low,
the seat's up real close, and he's six foot three.
It's just a lot easier for him to maneuver in
his vehicle than it is for him.

Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
And mind, we always take her car because mine's always filthy,
and I mean it's terrible, it's embarrassing. That's probably why
I can't drive it so fast.

Speaker 5 (01:08:35):
You do just fine.

Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
That's why you lost that rug.

Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
I was thinking about that.

Speaker 4 (01:08:40):
Fifteen McDonald's rappers wrapped U under my speed that's my
cruise controls, the McDonald's rappers, or I can't push my
gas pedal down enough. Really, it's that bad. It's pretty
bad right now. It's pretty embarrassing.

Speaker 3 (01:08:50):
I it's like a photo of it. I know there
could be a coon living in my back seat. I
had no idea, Like it is stuff everywhere. I don't
have a like, I don't have a a tailgate, so
all this stuff, like my golf clubs and stuff I
had to. You know, I don't have a trunk, so
my golf clubs are just laying across my back seat
and they're there all the time.

Speaker 4 (01:09:07):
So why don't you fix that? I don't know, Jack,
I don't care. I don't care. Remember when they had
the nets, Yeah, you could do that, at least everybody knows.
Everybody knows they they did well.

Speaker 3 (01:09:24):
They did the nets because they thought that having the
tailgate cost you gas mind.

Speaker 4 (01:09:28):
Right, made it more aeror than that.

Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
And then the Midbusters figured out that it doesn't work
like that. The wind comes over the cab and then
creates this weird tunnel thing, so the wind just goes
right over your tailgate altogether.

Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
Anyway, you know that if you drive fast? All right?
Borrow seven nine six four one text us at seven
to seven zero three one back in one second with
more than Jim Colbert.

Speaker 20 (01:09:48):
Show plus off Colver crew beatum right here. Yeah.

Speaker 25 (01:09:55):
I think every girl girlfriend I've had, their vehicles have
all looked like they hit everything but the winter.

Speaker 4 (01:10:00):
Circle, you know what I mean?

Speaker 18 (01:10:03):
Ah, just kidding, y'all have a.

Speaker 15 (01:10:04):
Going My girlfriend typically drives everywhere, but only because she's
got the nicer car. However, she drives like an absolute
Grandma is a terrible driver and even admits to being
a terrible driver. She has to ask you what the
speed limit is like, she'll asks me, what's the speed limit? Like,
how do you not know there's big signs in the
middle of the street, or telling you anyways?

Speaker 4 (01:10:26):
Yeah, hey, guys, happy day.

Speaker 26 (01:10:29):
Up and my relationship. My fiance does the majority of
the driving. She has a newer, nicer car. Mine is
a giant diesel chugging twenty five hundred not very efficient.

Speaker 16 (01:10:39):
Man.

Speaker 26 (01:10:39):
I get to drink, so it's fine, and it's frowned
upon to drink and drive.

Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
Apparently it is.

Speaker 26 (01:10:43):
Back in the day my father when he would get
home from work, if he knew that Mom and Dad
had to go somewhere, he would instantly crack a beer
and tell her, up, Linda, you gotta drive.

Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
I'm drinking.

Speaker 11 (01:10:54):
Happy be.

Speaker 4 (01:11:00):
Happy birthday, deb, Hope it's a good one. Thank you, Hey,
dab soul man again, been a while. Just wanted to
let you know good better best.

Speaker 12 (01:11:13):
Never let it rest until your good gets better and
your better gets best.

Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
Go bears, Oh this guy, people are coming at you
on your damn birthday.

Speaker 4 (01:11:22):
You know what what the disrespect is that? Not at all.

Speaker 7 (01:11:25):
No, the disrespect was the way the Packers gave that
damn game away.

Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
Oh look at you go getting cold? Well, I mean
they go Bears. They did have a player, make an
incredible players.

Speaker 7 (01:11:34):
They did. But I mean there were seventeen points a hat.

Speaker 4 (01:11:37):
What the hell? Yeah, the pope on their side.

Speaker 7 (01:11:40):
And that's where I got a soft spot for the
Bears this season.

Speaker 4 (01:11:44):
Oh really, I can't believe I'm here because of Pope
Leo the fourteenth. That's nothing wrong with that, No, not
at all. Right, I like having a pope from the
south Side. All right, you're your four o'clock keyword his
bonus bo n us, go to real radio out of
him and send that off for your chance at one
thousand bucks. I'm jim dam he takes no correct Southside
deb Jack is here as well.

Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
Man, what a crazy story broke last night? Man, did
you guys see this Timothy Busfield story?

Speaker 11 (01:12:09):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:12:09):
Many, Jack, you don't know it. He was from thirty
the show thirty something West Wing too, dude. And yeah,
she's married to Melissa Gilbert and SVU.

Speaker 7 (01:12:18):
Yeah yeah, And let's just say what Jimmy's going to
inform you about has caused NBC to move his episode
of SVU, which had been scheduled for tomorrow for Thursday,
January fifteenth, or rather the Thursday the fifteenth.

Speaker 5 (01:12:34):
They've had to move it because of this.

Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
Timothy Busfield turned himself in today to New Mexico authorities
for the alleged abuse of two eleven year old boys.

Speaker 5 (01:12:43):
Oh my us Marshalls were in on the search for him.

Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
Whoa yeah, the charges dropped on Saturday. He was nowhere
to be found for three days. Melissa Gilbert made some
kind of weird plea on social media or weird savement
on social media. Then she went dark. She's been dark
for two days on social after being active for any
at the Timothy Busfield disappeared. He turned himself in today
after lawyering up. And of course he claims that all
of this and it's one of that. You know, it's

(01:13:09):
a hundred percent true. This is all allegations so far.
This is one hundred percent all allegations. You just said
it's one hundred percent truth. Now you're saying it's.

Speaker 12 (01:13:19):
No.

Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
I didn't say it was true. I didn't say that
at all. I said it's just allegations. Two eleven year
old twin boys were where claimed that they were sexually
abused by Timothy Busfield.

Speaker 7 (01:13:28):
Okay, from what I read, only one of them, Well,
it was twin boys, right, twin boys on the show,
which was The Cleaning Lady ran on Fox until last year.
He was both the director and an actor on the program.
Was apparently it was one of the boys.

Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
It's funny because in the story I'm reading right now
People Magazine, they never.

Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
Mentioned as a singular act. Oh really, they mentioned it
as both of them, as if they were you know,
as if it happened to both of them. And one
of the things is that I guess he tickled them
while on set, and he did this and by the way,
befriended their parents.

Speaker 4 (01:14:00):
Know.

Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
Apparently he and Melissa Gilbert gave these boys Christmas gifts
and they called him Uncle Tim.

Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
They were so close.

Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
And of course, what they say is that's a common
practice for people who are grooming children to become close
with the parents first. So it's a really difficult thing
for the parents to assume that person's doing something wrong.

Speaker 7 (01:14:18):
Or for the kids to want to say, hey, you
know that great guy, Uncle Tim.

Speaker 3 (01:14:22):
Right, you've created some trust with the parents and you know,
to create that aura. Well, it never be him. Now,
of course, we don't know any of this. He claims
all of it is made up because they replaced the
twin boys with younger actors during the filming of the show.

Speaker 5 (01:14:34):
And said that the mother wanted revenge.

Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
Yeah, this is a retribution thing. There is a doctor
that claims that at least one of the boys, like
you were saying, does show symptoms of trauma through abuse
of that. But I mean again, that could be a
bunch of things, you know, I don't know what No.

Speaker 7 (01:14:52):
I had read that that was an examination that had
been done at the hospital after the mother had contacted
child Protective Services, after she's made aware of the allegance.

Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Right, But what I read today was that he never
touched him in the sense that, you know, like in
other words, pull your pants down, let me touch you.
That most of the touching that's been claimed has been
during these tickling things that happened. And there are no
other claims out there from any other children right now
either or any other families.

Speaker 4 (01:15:15):
Of course, we don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
This just happened Saturday, right, Yeah, Yeah, what else do
you think about it well.

Speaker 7 (01:15:22):
The ap story that I had read was that one
of the boys was touched on two separate occasions upwards
of five or six times.

Speaker 4 (01:15:32):
He was touched on his genitals.

Speaker 7 (01:15:35):
He told his mom, Apparently a psychologist had also interviewed
to him, said he has a PTSD. Yes, nightmares, would
wake up scared thinking of the actor you know was
coming to touch him Mary, and would wake up and
be scared. So shocking, I guess the warrant shocking.

Speaker 3 (01:15:52):
The warrant said the boy's mother asked her son's quote
if anyone had ever touched them in a manner that
made them feel uncomfortable. The children allegedly responded by you
mean like uncle Tim.

Speaker 4 (01:16:03):
No.

Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
The parents were advised by an attorney to take the
children to a University of New Mexico and have them
professionally examined. The professionals suggested the boys were groomed. According
to the warrant, at the time, the children did not
disclose any sexual contact. That's what a police officer said
in the warrant, But they did claim the busfield to

(01:16:27):
quote tickle them on the stomach and legs. The case
at that time did not meet their acceptance criteria.

Speaker 4 (01:16:33):
At the time. So this has come up more than
once with this gentleman and these two kids, but they
never had enough evidence to do anything to him, so
they didn't say anything. The warrant details.

Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
On October third, the boys mother filed a police report,
telling Child Protective Services that quote her children both disclosed
that they were sexual abuse by Timothy around November twenty
second to spring twenty twenty four. She was told that
the physical abuse had not occurred. Nothing could be done
that because physical abuse hadn't occurred. Nothing, in other words,

(01:17:03):
no marks, there's nothing to really indicate that they were
telling the truth.

Speaker 7 (01:17:07):
Right, you know, somebody did text us at seven seven
zero three one running from the authorities. Doesn't seem like
something an innocent person does. Yeah, well, assuming that that's
that he was running, we do not know that.

Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
Actually it wasn't a run at all. He said it
was a two thousand mile drive to New Mexico from
where he was. Okay, so he just got in his
car and drove. The Only thing I can assume by that,
I mean, again, I'm not making a case for this guy.
I'm just trying to use logic here is that he
probably you know, once our charges drop. He certainly didn't
want to be on an airplane with a bunch of
people who could be staring at him, taking videosm or
something like that. So we got in his car, got

(01:17:41):
his and he drove to New Mexico to turn himself in.

Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
Wow, yeah, I know it's The internal.

Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
Investigation by Warner Brothers documented that an individual quote claimed
to have witnessed an incident in the hair and makeup
trailer in which executive producer director Tim Busfield entered and
hissed a minor male on the face as the miner
was getting a haircut. It says here in the warrant,
a police officer writes, quote in my training experience, pedophiles

(01:18:11):
often infiltrate families under a trusted role, like Timothy, who
as a producer, exploited the hectic film sets to tickle
in touch him on his penis and buttocks, masking it
as play.

Speaker 7 (01:18:27):
And that was one of the things that I had
read that when detectives interviewed Timothy Bussfield, he had said, well,
it was a playful set that he did tickle them.

Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
The officer added that Busfield would invite the family to
offset gatherings with his wife, buying Christmas gifts to foster closeness,
making them the kids feel special and dependent. Classic grooming
to eroad boundaries isolate the victim and silent suspicions by
blending abuse into normalcy. The dual tactic charming parents while
secretly violating the child, builds a web of complicity that

(01:19:02):
is hard to unravel, delaying detection as families trust the
abuser's facade. Is what one of the cops wrote.

Speaker 7 (01:19:09):
And what's what's interesting is someone else texted us at
seven seven zero three one. This is crazy timing, as
Melissa Gilbert just came out saying she thought she was
put in a vulnerable position having kissing an older man
when she was fifteen on the Little House on the Prairie.

Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
Way to go Michael land In, Oh you're sitting too soon, buddy.
He was show too soon. He did, he did, and
he was on that show touched by an uncle Angel
an Angel, a guy named Angel.

Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
All right four our seven nine one six one four
one text us at seven seven zero three one. Where
do you think the best state is to raise a family?

nation that listen to the show and you stay tuned,

Speaker 16 (01:20:07):

Speaker 7 (01:20:12):

Speaker 3 (01:21:44):

Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
I'm Jim, there's deb Hello. Jack is here as well.

Speaker 3 (01:22:13):
Certainly city commissioner Amy Lockhart from someone county joining us
next to talk about this cool new Scout program, which
was their unmanned shuttle kind of thing.

Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
I believe it's man yes, yeah, but it's like a
kind of of county run uber okay, and it's replacing
the Links because they're the eleventh you know, just a
couple of days ago. The Links does not run at
least down the main thoroughfare of four to thirty four.
I don't know if it's totally out of Seminole County,

(01:22:47):
but the county commissioner at Lockhart can kind of fill
us in on the new program. Yeah, that's very interesting.
We'll talk to Amy here in just a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
Who's paying for it? Yeah, yeah, for sure that filling
I am all right. So Newsweek does this occasionally, and
I absolutely likes it. It's the best and worst states
to raise a family, based on categories such as affordability, childcare,
and many other things.

Speaker 4 (01:23:06):
A matter of fact, it says right here.

Speaker 3 (01:23:07):
Where a family chooses can affect their child, education, health, safety,
and future prospects. With rising living cost, families are increasingly
weighing affordability, opportunities and supportive communities when they decide where
to settle. It says, uh, there's one state. Obviously it
has done quite well. They researched and evaluated all fifty
states using fifty indicators across several categories, including affordability, health

(01:23:31):
and safety, education, childcare, and family fund. They also analyzed
how expensive housing costs were, health care, health care costs.

Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
School performance, crime rates. All of that was taken in
the consideration. I have a state that's popping in my head.
That's what the worst? No that I Oh, I thought
we were going for the best. Oh, yeah, you can
go for the best North Carolina. North Carolina is thirty six. Ouch, Minnesota.

(01:24:01):
Minnesota is second. Wow, the second best state in the
United States to raise your family is Minnesota. All the
list of qualifiers, weather wasn't one of them then, yeah, yea, yeah, yeah,
hospitable weather definitely not in play.

Speaker 5 (01:24:18):
Everything else, yes, yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
Have to tell you when I saw this, before I looked,
I actually chose the number one answer because it's always
the number one answer when it comes to quality of
life in America.

Speaker 4 (01:24:27):
Oh, Massachuset, Massachusetts is the answer.

Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
It's the best of everything, best education, highest rated schools,
quality of life, surroundings, house value, It's.

Speaker 4 (01:24:37):
All number one. Where's Florida?

Speaker 3 (01:24:39):
Where do you think? That's the question of the day, right,
where do you think Florida ranks? Now we've made the
assertion many times on the show that Florida perpetually ranks
it like between thirty and thirty five in any list
of the world unless it's house value.

Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
Yeah. Yeah, we used to be in the forties a lot,
and the high forties when it comes to quality of education. Okay,
I will guess forty forty three, Jack, give yourself a
dog and nailed it. WHOAOA forty is the answer. Florida
ranks fortieth. Wow, third biggest economy in the US and

(01:25:15):
we rate i think third or fourth biggest economy in
the US and we rank fortieth when it comes to
the best state to raise your family. Hmm okay fortieth Yeah, well,
I mean third richest state in America. I think it's
what New York, California, Texas, US somewhere along in there.

Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
Yeah, yeah, third or four, top five economy in the nation.
Matter of fact, our economy is equal to some small
nations across the world.

Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
We're fortieth. We've defunded public education and filled it with
vouch your schools.

Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
Yeah, and the cost of living insurance, the education is taught. Well,
you know, the funny thing is our higher education is great.
Our free education is absolute. Dog guess well, higher education
is ray. It's in the crosshairs. Our cost of living
is ridiculous here. It's expensive for a car insurance, it's
expensive for homeowners insurance, groceries are expensive. It's just everything's

(01:26:11):
more expensive. It's a very desirable place to live. So
when you live in a desirable place, whether it be
a neighborhood, an apartment complex, wherever, it's gonna cost more
than nicer it is. And Florida has a lot of cool,
nice stuff, plenty of stuff to do here. And we
still ring fortieth, which is crazy.

Speaker 5 (01:26:26):
Not everybody has an Eric you're right or Florida man.

Speaker 4 (01:26:29):
Yeah, you're right. Jack. Would you like to know where
your new Jersey is? Where the jersey is? Eleven oh seven, fourteen? Wow?
How bad at all?

Speaker 5 (01:26:41):
How about Wisconsin?

Speaker 4 (01:26:42):
How about Wisconsin. What do you think?

Speaker 5 (01:26:44):
Where are my penies?

Speaker 4 (01:26:45):
Where you wear your penies? Put them in a bag?
In a bag? Sixteen? Really eleven? Wisconsin is the fourth
best state in America to raise your family. It was
a great place to grow up. Yeah, good, After Minnesota
is Minnesota?

Speaker 3 (01:27:03):
I want to take a shot at the worst state
to raise your family. And by the way, this state
is really collapsing. It is West Virginia, Mississippi.

Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
West Virginia's forty nine.

Speaker 5 (01:27:12):
Oh, Louisiana.

Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
Louisiana is hold on. Louisiana is forty five. Mississippi.

Speaker 4 (01:27:22):
Mississippi is forty eight. Alabama, Oh is it Califia? Alabama's
forty six? You see a pattern forming Louisiana, Georgia forty one,
South Carolina forty two, North Carolina thirty six, Tennessee thirty three,
Kentucky thirty eight, Arkansas forty four. Where's Texas? Texas is

(01:27:43):
thirty four? Wordability, Where's Louisiana? Where is California? California is
twenty nine? Like that's you know, dead in the middle there. Okay,
but you said this state is really collapsing. We mentioned
it today.

Speaker 3 (01:27:58):
New Mexico is the dead last state for quality of
life to raise your family really in Mexico, I do too,
but I mean apparently it's riddled with crime and drug problems. Yeah,
there is that retirement plan. Nevada is forty seven. And
to give you the top ones up there, it is
all the areas up there near the Great Lakes, guys,

(01:28:20):
I'm telling you North Dakota's number three, Minnesota is number two,
Wisconsin's number four, South Dakota's number eleven, Nebraska's number five, Connecticut,
New York's number six.

Speaker 4 (01:28:30):
Connecticut is I mean, it's a little pointer here number seven.

Speaker 5 (01:28:34):
Where's Illinois.

Speaker 4 (01:28:35):
Illinois is get down here around that's where the live
the what FIBs number nine, number nine.

Speaker 3 (01:28:43):
So it's all top ten up there around the Great
Lakes had killed it, So it must be something out
water up there. Michigan thirty five though, so that's not
they're surrounding Main, Ohio twenty one. Main is tenth. So
all the all the areas you thought the Midwest, Yeah,
all the areas you thought would be in the top
are in the top. I mean, you know, Washington States

(01:29:03):
number thirteen, Oregon's number twenty two. So I mean when
you look at By the way, if you want to
check this out, you can see it at Newsweek. It's
newsweek dot com slash best Worst State and race.

Speaker 4 (01:29:12):
Family Texas aside, I think Florida did best out of
the Southern states if we were forty and all the
others are in the forties.

Speaker 3 (01:29:18):
Yet Tennessee and North Carolina beat us. Everybody else was
worse than us. Those are the only quote or Kentucky
beat us too, but those are the only states of
Virginia twenty six.

Speaker 4 (01:29:30):
Got Arizona Arizona. Good guess let me see here, Arizona
is thirty nine.

Speaker 5 (01:29:36):
What about New Hampshire.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
New Hampshire's gonna be up there for sure, because New
Hampshire is top ten, number eight. Like I said, I
mean anything in that in the Panhandle up there in
the northeast that goes out, you know, that's all those
every one of those states right in the top ten.

Speaker 4 (01:29:49):
Give me those outliers of Alaska and Hawaii. Alaska, where
do you think Alaska falls? It's weird. It is weird,
isn't it? On that one? Because I mean when you
factor I've never been to Yeah, the quality of life
and stuff, I mean, you talk about weather and things
and things to do. I mean, what's to do in Alaska?
And when it's when it's winter, which is what seven
eight months of the year are they finishing all of

(01:30:10):
the caribou?

Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
Thirty seventh is Alaska, and Hawaii actually does a lot
better at twenty three, which is wild because the cost
of living in Hawaii is insane.

Speaker 5 (01:30:18):
Yeah, that's very expensive.

Speaker 3 (01:30:20):
Yeah, man, crazy cool article. The entire thing, by the way,
is written very well. If you want to check it out,
you can do that again. It's newsweek dot com.

Speaker 4 (01:30:26):
Michigan, Chuck sent to text. I think we're missing one.
You have Michigan there, Yeah, Michigan. I said it was
like thirty five there.

Speaker 1 (01:30:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:30:32):
Remember I said, all the all the states around the
around the Great Lakes, except for Michigan, the one actually
sticks out into them. It did not fare well at all,
all right, four oh seven nine one six one four one.
Don't forget your five o'clock keyword is credit. That's c

where else that will wind up here in.

Speaker 4 (01:30:59):
The state of Florida. We'll talk or her next.

Credit is the word. Go get that caseeat it. I'm Jim,
there's deb Hello. Jack is here as well.

Speaker 4 (01:31:36):
Yeah, Hello. This is actually kind of a special little
thing here, and there's some cool stuff happening in simone
Old County, some unique interesting stuff happening in someone Old County.
She was nice enough to come in and explain it
and kind of have a conversation with us. You guys
give it up for sim Old County Commissioner Miss Amy lockhar.

Speaker 18 (01:31:49):
Yeah, well I'm great.

Speaker 9 (01:31:53):
Thank you.

Speaker 18 (01:31:54):
That's quite a reception. I don't get that every day.

Speaker 4 (01:31:56):
What do you mean it's a politician. They don't line
the hallways every time you want shocking. How are you doing?

Speaker 18 (01:32:03):
I'm doing great? Thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:32:04):
I would love to tell people all about your accolades.
But I read your bio today and it took four
and a half hours. Oh yeah, you've done a lot
I have.

Speaker 18 (01:32:10):
I love this community, I love serving it.

Speaker 3 (01:32:12):
Yeah it shows because you're on so many committees. You
sit on so many oversight boards for the county. Everything
from a community to weather or to environment.

Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
It's all there. So when we started talking.

Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
About the the Scout program, it was kind of interesting
because everybody saw here in Simondole County that you know,
Links decided to cancel all of their service to the county.

Speaker 18 (01:32:38):
Well they we, in conjunction with Link, the Links decided
together that we were going to eliminate the lowest performing routes.
So we still have three routes okay in Seminole Counties.
They're not all gone. So if you're someone who depends
on links, check and see which routes were eliminated because
we have three of the highest performing four thirty six
and four thirty four.

Speaker 4 (01:32:56):
That work outs. Yeah, very nice.

Speaker 3 (01:32:58):
And you guys came to the conclusion because, like we
seen right before the program, you're showing me some stats
and some numbers, and those numbers are startling. By the way, Amy,
I never thought in a million years that the number
would approach anything close to that for the service for
links in the in the in the Someoneal County area.

Speaker 18 (01:33:13):
Right. So every year through our budget process, we sit
down with organizations like Links who we help fund, and
they give us a projection of the next year, of
the next five years of what our costs are going
to be. And in twenty twenty four they gave us
a spreadsheet and they said, we project that by twenty thirty,
the funding partner share the portion of the amount that
local governments are going to pay to subsidize Links would

(01:33:36):
grow from one hundred and six million to one hundred
and sixty nine million dollars.

Speaker 4 (01:33:41):
WHOA WHOA is right.

Speaker 18 (01:33:43):
So that set us as a board down a path
of realizing that this was not sustainable. For us, and yes,
we've loved our partnership, but we just can't afford it, right.

Speaker 1 (01:33:51):
Right, right?

Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
Who could? I mean one hundred million dollars. I bet
if you gave everybody in our audience a chance to
guess one sect one time what that partnership called, seeouldn't
be near that number. I mean that's crazy.

Speaker 7 (01:34:01):
And by the way, I just wanted to let folks know,
if you're watching us on our YouTube channel, Amy was
kind enough to text us this bracket that Jack has
up on the screen so you can see the numbers
for yourself. What Links was saying was going to be
their partner funding just a mere sixty nine million dollars
A big deal.

Speaker 4 (01:34:18):
That doesn't seem like an unsubstantial amount of the budget
for the county.

Speaker 18 (01:34:23):
It is a large, no, And that's not Seminole County's portion.
That is all of the funding partners and that Orange
Osiola Orlando right so where But if you extrapolate out
of that what portion would have been Seminoles, it would
have been approximately an additional ten million. So we are
we just aren't in a place where we can afford
to do that. So I don't want to bang on

(01:34:44):
links because you know, they provide a wonderful service.

Speaker 4 (01:34:46):
Yeah, they do.

Speaker 18 (01:34:46):
But what we found for Seminole County is we needed
to really dig deep. We needed to look at numbers.
We needed to see who is really needing public transportation
and how can we provide it less expensively. At first,
it was just how do we save money. We didn't
even care about providing a better service. And then we found,
through a lot of research and a lot of good
work by our staff, that we found an even better

(01:35:09):
way to deliver public transportation for our citizens at less
of a cost to the taxpayer. So how often do
you hear that local government doesn't very often get to
say we're giving you a better service for less money, right,
So we're pretty excited about it.

Speaker 4 (01:35:23):
Yeah, as you might imagine, of course, that is the
Scout program. Now, did your staff find that this program
was running somewhere else in the country and they said,
we think this will work in the community. Maybe a
community was similar to some of the old county, which
is kind of spread out, with the exception of maybe
Altamont and some of the other areas.

Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
Some of thold is, you know, a dispersed community. I
lived there for years Jack lives there now.

Speaker 18 (01:35:42):
All right, Yeah, someoneold county. Yeah, we knew that Freebee,
which is the company that won the RFP. They were
operating in some smaller communities around the state, and so
we actually got to know them out of Florida Association
of Counties conference. They were doing a breakout session and
my head immediately turned and I said, oh my gosh,
you guys might might be the solution for us. So

(01:36:03):
we did a request for proposal and had several other
companies that provide a similar service respond, and Freebee one
that competition that competitive bidding process, and they've been a
great partner.

Speaker 4 (01:36:16):
Really partner. So Scout is a manned vehicle.

Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
I mean Jack kind of explained it, and I think
this is relatively accurate as like almost like a county
run uber system kind of yes.

Speaker 18 (01:36:25):
And that is the analogy that I have been using
when I try to explain to people what is micro transit,
because you don't hear that word every day. I say,
you know, it's kind of like an uber or a lift.
Where that analogy breaks down is that this is not
a private ride share, right, This is still public transportation.
It is a ride share. You are going to get
put in a computer algorithm that decides where you want

(01:36:48):
to go and picking up other people along the way.
No more standing at bus stops, no more walking right
fifteen to twenty minutes to a bus stop. These vehicles
with these drivers who buy the way have been some
of them have been a lot of fun. I've secret
shopped a couple of these rides. They're gonna come and
pick you up where you are and they're going to
take you where you want to go.

Speaker 4 (01:37:09):
It's it remarkable, does it pool?

Speaker 22 (01:37:11):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
Oh so?

Speaker 3 (01:37:12):
In other words, like if if Jack lives in an
area where another two other riders live within late maybe
two or three miles, and you're going to the same area,
so it'll pick Jack up, it'll pick the other guy up,
and it'll drop.

Speaker 4 (01:37:22):
Them off as they need to go. Correct and it.

Speaker 3 (01:37:24):
Just comes and the algorithm figures all that out because
you have all the information and it can actually compute
that pretty quickly to figure out, well, this ride would
be even better if we're able to pick up two
or three people at the same time.

Speaker 4 (01:37:34):
That's right, Commissioner, a lockheart. How do you judge, especially
with a new system, at first, the need with how
many vehicles you'll have what the expected wait time will be.
So how do you judge exactly how many cars? I
went out today, drop my daughter off a mile and
a half from my house, came back I saw three
different Scout vehicles. Yeah, just right. I drove a total

(01:37:57):
of three miles. But it was four thirty four seventeen
ninety two intersection, so pretty busy. But I was like,
there's a Scout, there's a Scout. There's a Scout.

Speaker 6 (01:38:05):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:38:05):
So I've been seeing the more i've ride my bike
down for thirty four, I've see that sign saying oh
this this bus stop, this bus route is going away.
So I know we lost the Links bus route for
for thirty four. But so with all the information you're
able to get, how do you determine how many vehicles
you need, how many are out on the road, and
what is the expected wait time when someone tomorrow says, oh,

(01:38:29):
I'm going to try Scout right.

Speaker 18 (01:38:31):
So what we started with was looking to the company
that we hired, that we contracted with, who does this,
this is their profession, and we made an assumption that
people who ride Links are going to be the people
who want to ride Scout. That was its original intended
purpose was to replace those fixed routes. Links was kind
of able to give us a number, not a really

(01:38:54):
hard number, but we had a generalized number. They said, well,
let's start with thirty five vehicles. We did the three
month transition time to kind of try it out and
see what worked. What we haven't been able to figure
out yet is exactly how many of those Links riders
have transitioned over. But what we have learned is we
had a huge gap of people in Seminole County who

(01:39:15):
needed transportation who didn't have access to it because they
didn't live close enough enough to a Link's bus stop.
So we know we need more. We had no idea
how popular it was going to be because originally, in
our mind, we were just replacing people riding a bus.
And now we've found there all of these folks who
are transportation disadvantage, that this is providing a need for them,
serving a need, so we're going to continue to monitor.

(01:39:38):
We told the company that we wanted the average weight
time that we were comfortable as a board. With the
average weight time being about thirty minutes. We felt like
we were already saving someone a fifteen or twenty minute
walk to a bus stop. That's staying and waiting in
your house, air conditioned home for thirty minutes was probably reasonable.
We've seen those weight times fluctuate drastically. Done a couple

(01:40:01):
of things to help mitigate that, and I've got some
interesting stories later on. I don't know how deep you
want me to go into it.

Speaker 4 (01:40:07):
Yeah, I mean to be another visit all again.

Speaker 18 (01:40:09):
It might be, it might be, but yeah, it's it
is a little bit of a moving target because we
don't know every day who's going to wake up and
decide that they want to ride a Scout view.

Speaker 4 (01:40:16):
This is what I want to do. I want to
take a Scout vehicle to the SunRail and take SunRail
to the airport. Now, I know we're outside of seven
Old County running into the airport, but I think it's
I'd love to see SunRail running on weekends, later nights
A great, She'd be great.

Speaker 3 (01:40:31):
Some of the county Commissioner Amy Luckier Leckhart with us
today talk about the Scout program. It's actually very interesting,
like a county run uber system where they have the
own cars. Okay, so the number one thing you said,
you're saving money because obviously we don't have to pay
for these that the part of the links share of
the counties that get that.

Speaker 4 (01:40:47):
How does this add up cost wise for the user?

Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
And by the way, the time thing is an interesting
concept because bus routes as a rule are terribly long.
So in other words, if I'm going maybe five or
six miles, because of all the other routes and stops
to make that trip gived me an hour and a half.
So I think the wait times are kind of a
weird flux thing that maybe riders will have to learn
how to negotiate because your ride time is actually going
to be shorter.

Speaker 4 (01:41:09):
The challenge might be for people going to work, right, yes,
you can't relate for work. What time do you open
up the app? And I assume it's and that we
need to hear more about that of to call for
the ride to be able to be at work on time.

Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
And obviously bus is one of the most inexpensive ways
to travel around. You do have to deal with the
weights and the times it takes to travel. Where does
this add up in terms of cost to the user?

Speaker 18 (01:41:32):
So we started with a zoned system, So if you
are traveling within your zone and our team, I've got
to give them credit again for doing a great job
of making sure that there's grocery stores in every zone,
a hospital in every zone, so if you need to
get to important things, you can get there within your zone.
So four dollars is the minimum fare unless you start

(01:41:54):
adding up your discounts. So, because we didn't want to
compete with Uber Left, we started with a base fare
of four dollars, and then we said, if you're a student,
you have a discount, If you're elderly, there's a discount,
if your low income. It's sable, like, we want the
people who need public transit the most to be able
to access it, and we don't want costs to be
a barrier. So it's very very comparable to what you

(01:42:17):
be paying on a linkoun.

Speaker 4 (01:42:18):
So the bubbles are like, let's say within you live
within a mile where the bubble is three a three
mile or four mile radius.

Speaker 3 (01:42:24):
Anything within that's four bucks. Anything outside the next bubble
is you know, eight dollars or I mean, is that
basically how it.

Speaker 18 (01:42:28):
Goes even larger than that. In fact, we should probably
pull up the route of the zone so that you
can throw that up there as well. I think that'd
be helpful. I think people will be surprised at how
large these zones are. We do not include the rural area.
You know, the eastern third of Seminole County is rural.
We don't have public services out there for Scout.

Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I take you to I
lived in Geneva for about four or five years, and
I was like, yeah, taking it at Geneva would be
a hoot.

Speaker 27 (01:42:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 18 (01:42:52):
They don't want it.

Speaker 4 (01:42:53):
They don't want it.

Speaker 18 (01:42:54):
We don't need to give it town.

Speaker 4 (01:42:55):
That's great.

Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
Ciminole County Commissioner Amy Lockhart about this Scout. Listen, you
say that you I mean obviously when you read your bio,
you know you are in contact with a lot of
other county leaders throughout the state. Is this something that,
like the state is consideringly Have you heard other communities
really excited about a program like this where maybe the
bus system fails them and their constituents need to get
places a little faster.

Speaker 4 (01:43:17):
Have you heard that.

Speaker 18 (01:43:18):
We're hearing from a lot of other counties quietly behind
the scenes, that they're watching very closely what we're doing
and how successful it is. I think being the first
to try something at this scale is kind of scary.
In fact, I don't think people thought we were actually
going to pull the trigger. I think maybe they thought
we were using it for some kind of leverage. But
the more we talked about it and planned for it,
the more excited we got about the fact that we're

(01:43:41):
going to be I mean not to overstate this, but
I have stories of actual life changing experiences for single
moms who have to get a student to school, you know, longer,
younger children they've got to get They don't they can't
haul all the laundry to the laundry on a Linx bus.
And I watched I watched a mom a few weeks ago.

(01:44:05):
She got out of the Scout vehicle I was having
breakfast one morning at a restaurant that was right next
to a laundromat, got out of the Scout vehicle, The
driver got out with her, helped get her preschool age
child out of the car the child car seat, helped
carry the laundry out of the back of the Scout
vehicle and walk into the laundromat with that mom. So like,

(01:44:28):
that's not happening in other types of public transportation environments.
In any other scenario, she would be tragging the kid
up to the Lynx bus stop, walk in with the
laundry on her hip, trying to manage that whether it
was raining or hot or whatever was happening. Now she
can get picked up at her house, she can go
to her laundry, call to have them come back and

(01:44:50):
pick her up and go home. I mean that saved hours.
It's safer, right, right, a better overall experience. And and
again this was chosen because we need the people who
need transportation the most to have it in Seminole County,
not because we want to have a cheaper ride to

(01:45:11):
happy hour, although you can do.

Speaker 12 (01:45:13):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
What's this unanimous with the commission? It was?

Speaker 3 (01:45:20):
It was unanimous across the board, bipartisan. Everybody said it
was a great idea. Wow, I love it. Any age
requirements or minimums? What about kids? If so they want
to send their kid somewhere?

Speaker 4 (01:45:31):
Is that?

Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
And by the way, real quick before you answer right now,
if you go to our YouTube channel, it's Real Radio
dot FM slash watch. We have the the bubble areas
up there where you can see where the scout like
areas are, the routes and the caust and stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:45:43):
You want to check that out by the way, well jobbed,
well done on the website. YEA, yeah, that's Chris, Chris,
way to go, Chris doing it.

Speaker 18 (01:45:51):
So I believe fifteen is the minimum age that we
allow riders. And one of the reasons why that was
especially important to me as a former school board member
is that I know have a lot of students who
want to be able to participate in after school activities,
but the buses don't wait for band to be over right,
So students who want to stay who maybe their parents
couldn't come pick them up after school, who rely on

(01:46:13):
the bus transportation system for the school district, they can
now do that. Also are students who want to participate
in dual enrollment at Seminole State College or UCF. These
kids now can actually take classes on campus if they
don't have a vehicle, because they can they can go
from high school to their dual enrollment class on campus

(01:46:34):
at a college. What a great experience for a high
school student.

Speaker 7 (01:46:37):
And I wanted to ask you, as as a county
commissioner or as any you know, political leader, transportation, especially
in Central Florida, is got to be one of the
biggest hurdles to tackle, is it?

Speaker 12 (01:46:50):
Not.

Speaker 18 (01:46:51):
It is huge. It is huge.

Speaker 11 (01:46:53):
You know.

Speaker 18 (01:46:54):
I also serve on the on the SunRail board, trains, buses,
all of it.

Speaker 3 (01:47:02):
She's on the skateboard committee too, exactly, and she's she's
running for Inline skate leader next week too.

Speaker 4 (01:47:07):
Don't sleep on don't sleep on her. She's great that
she did those alis. Yeah, yeah, oh my gosh.

Speaker 18 (01:47:14):
Transportation is hard because it's not something that we've grown
up with here in this community. Right, I grew up
in South Florida. Florida is not known for public transportation.
We're not a big city. We're not running that. And
we have so many people who have moved here now
who expect it because of where they came Where I
came from, we had We don't have that here. It's
just a completely different, uh dynamic, and so we're starting

(01:47:38):
to grow up a little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:47:39):
SunRail is a huge.

Speaker 18 (01:47:41):
Piece of that. Being able to get to the airport,
that bright line that.

Speaker 4 (01:47:43):
Yeah, that is incredible.

Speaker 3 (01:47:45):
That thing is still in its infancy. We I mean,
we won't see it's real I mean fruition probably for
another ten years or so where you really see people
kind of talking about it like Jack talks about it.
I'm gonna hop on here, take the rail down to Tampa,
take the rail down to Miami, take the rail over
the coast whatever.

Speaker 5 (01:47:58):
I love bright Land for that.

Speaker 4 (01:47:59):
So I did want to ask. I just I just
lost my train of thought. That's what my mom would
always said, Oh.

Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
My god, what was it? I had such a great
question for you, and I blew it. Anyway, I have
a question. Yeah, you raise chickens.

Speaker 4 (01:48:15):
Do you have chickens?

Speaker 18 (01:48:16):
I do?

Speaker 14 (01:48:17):
Yay.

Speaker 7 (01:48:18):
I love that sound in my neighborhood, in my backyard.

Speaker 4 (01:48:23):
I have two neighbors with them. There's no ordinance on
the laws. I mean, they can make noise in it anywhere.

Speaker 18 (01:48:29):
Now, roosters are not allowed, so if we're cockadoodle doing,
that's the no go. But but we.

Speaker 4 (01:48:35):
Can have want is the sweetest I want that.

Speaker 3 (01:48:39):
That's the sweetest way. Anybody's told me. Don't have a rooster.
You can't have it, you can't do it.

Speaker 18 (01:48:44):
But you can have hens. As as most people know,
you don't need a rooster to have eggs, all right,
you don't, So so hens can lay without a rooster,
and you can have all kinds of wonderful.

Speaker 4 (01:48:56):
What about a county ordinance, that is if you have
hens and you're producing eggs, you're required to give some
to the neighbors who have to look there, we get down.

Speaker 3 (01:49:07):
I take my chicken on Scout. These are the things
people need to know. I just remember, I just remembered
what it was, and then I just forgot it again.

Speaker 4 (01:49:16):
Okay, so it's an app, right?

Speaker 18 (01:49:18):
Oh yeah, So Scout has an app and it's actually
Freebee is the app. So if you're looking in the
app store, don't look for Scout, look for Freebie. And
you can also call. You know, a lot of our
seniors aren't used to using apps, are used to the
old school phone. So you can pick up the phone
and you can call and order your ride. It's it's
really fantastic.

Speaker 3 (01:49:38):
How's it kind of getting the word out because obviously
this is a big thing. You're going to tell people
their bus routes going away and this is the alternative. Now,
how is Seminole County doing that?

Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
Are they? You know?

Speaker 3 (01:49:47):
Are you guys doing an email blast? Are you doing
an advertising campaign?

Speaker 18 (01:49:51):
All of the above? You name it. So, I feel
like I've been talking about Scout NonStop. If anybody will
talk to me about it, I'll come and talk any
of our commissioners will go and talk about it. We've
marketing campaigns on social media, on websites, newsletters, Our team
has attended every type of community meeting you can possibly
imagine to get the word out in some weird ways.

(01:50:11):
I think we've almost we almost over advertised it at
the beginning because we our demand has gone up incredibly.
We've had twenty thousand riders. That's amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:50:24):
It's incredible.

Speaker 18 (01:50:25):
Seven I think seven hundred just yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:50:27):
When did it officially start.

Speaker 18 (01:50:29):
We started the first trial zone in September, September fifteenth, yeah,
and then we launched October fifteenth. Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:50:38):
So it's not even that long at all. Man, that's crazy.
So people are already acclimating into the system.

Speaker 18 (01:50:42):
Yes, I would say some are acclimating better than others.
You know, if you're someone who has been using a
links fixed route bus and you know the routes and
you know you've got to get on the one oh
whatever to get to the two whatever to do all
those transfers, if you have that memorized and that's now
hardwired to something that even though it's more user friendly, it's.

Speaker 4 (01:51:02):
New, everybody else is.

Speaker 18 (01:51:06):
And so there are some some hanger honors that waited
until the very last minute that they We had two hundred,
about two hundred people download the app for the first
time the day that the links uh routes ended. So
it's unfortunate that they waited because we intentionally put in
that three month time of overlap so that people could
get used to it and try it. Some of the

(01:51:28):
discussion about the routes and the times, I think is
important to point out that, you know, we have data
now that we never would have with links, So we
know when a ride is being called for generally the area.
We can see heat maps of where's the hot spot
people want to go to.

Speaker 7 (01:51:48):
Bahama Breeze Christmas Eve it was Public's.

Speaker 18 (01:51:57):
I was I was thinking maybe it was church.

Speaker 4 (01:51:58):
No, it was public.

Speaker 18 (01:52:01):
So we have we've had some interesting things happen that
the team has noticed that about fifty ten ten or
so High flyers have been ordering and canceling rides, Like
one person ordered and canceled one hundred rides, which completely

(01:52:25):
throws the system into chaos.

Speaker 4 (01:52:27):
Okay, So we had.

Speaker 18 (01:52:29):
An opportunity because you know, when you download the app,
you can you can make contact with that person, and
so the folks from Freebee reached out to them and said, hey,
you know, what.

Speaker 5 (01:52:37):
Are you doing?

Speaker 18 (01:52:38):
Maybe that is, but you know, if.

Speaker 5 (01:52:43):
Sent me to talk to him, I'll take care of.

Speaker 1 (01:52:44):
It for you.

Speaker 18 (01:52:45):
I mean, I would love to think that maybe it's
just somebody who didn't understand.

Speaker 3 (01:52:49):
Yeah, that could have been me. I'm gonna be dead
honest with you. Have the app, but I probably did it.
I am that guy for the record. I'm the guy who,
like this guy, this thing an't work and nixt thing.
You know, I have like fifteen scouts in my friend
yard one.

Speaker 4 (01:53:00):
What the hell's going on? I'm the guy. I'm going
to tell you straight up. Ask anybody in this building there,
he's that guy. He's the guy.

Speaker 18 (01:53:06):
So we have one percent of riders who are responsible
for twenty percent of the cancelations.

Speaker 4 (01:53:11):
Oh but that's but that's that's dual nature. Like that's doable.
I mean yeah, that's an easy problem to stomp out, right.

Speaker 18 (01:53:18):
Absolutely so, either once we get them educated so that
they know how to order the ride appropriately, or we.

Speaker 4 (01:53:25):
Them block them out of the seat, block them.

Speaker 18 (01:53:26):
I mean, well, well, so we're starting to see odd
things like that that come. We had to figure out
how to fix them, and then we move on.

Speaker 4 (01:53:32):
Yeah, right on. Well, look, we are out of time,
but I have to tell you this has been an
unbelievable conversation and you are welcome back at any point
and anytime there's a change in the Scout program and
you need to kind of let people know what's going on.
Please give us a call. Don't forget her number. Yeah. Online,
it's Scout seminal fl dot com and you can get
all the information about it. I just googled Scout and
seminole and boom, just take you right to the page.

(01:53:52):
All the information is very clearly laid out, very intuitive
and easy to use. I want to use it now.
I don't need to, but I want to. Yeah, very cool.
I got four bucks. Any thanks so much for dropping by.

Speaker 3 (01:54:03):
We really do appreciate it, and please do keep us
in mind if anything pops up, You're more than welcome
to kind of let us know what's going on. Come on,
come on, get the word out and let Orlando know
what's happened.

Speaker 4 (01:54:13):
You guys to give it up. Good laugh for Amy,
Amy and Chris. How about that all right?

Speaker 3 (01:54:18):
For our seven nine four one text us seven seven
zero three one load them up Trivia's next. Welcome back
to the Jim Cob Show, Real Radio one, New four
point one. Thanks for tuning in big thanks to Amy Lockhart,
some little county commissioner.

Speaker 4 (01:54:36):
She was great.

Speaker 3 (01:54:37):
I'm sure we'll have it back on as Scout grows
to talk about those growing pains and how they can
make him better. We'll do that probably in a couple
of months. Welcome back. I am Jim Jacket is right
over there, and hold on the birthday girl.

Speaker 4 (01:54:51):
You can't you can't miss a birthday girl, line her birthday.

Speaker 3 (01:54:53):
I'm Jim the lovely, young and supple Deborah Roberts here
today with us.

Speaker 4 (01:54:59):
Well, hello there, Khr.

Speaker 5 (01:55:03):
I don't know how he knows. I don't want to ask.

Speaker 4 (01:55:06):
And Jack as the Jackie all aboard, chugge chugger. Okay,
here we go. Our winner today will get to have there.
They have a choice between one of two prizes. Why
is either a pair of tickets to see Kansas. Yes
that Kansas carry out My Wayward Sun Kansas at Peabody Auditorium.

(01:55:30):
That's happening January eighteenth. That's the Sunday Sunday Sunday Sunday
at the Peabody. Also in the Jackie Sack two tickets
to Fresh from Florida too fifty. It's a NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series at Daytona International Speedway. This race is happening
February thirteenth, but you know it. Speed Weeks are here

(01:55:53):
and it leads up to the Daytona five hundred. If
you want tickets to any of the races presented by
Advent Health while on the a Tona five hundred, dot
com or simpally call one eight hundred pit chop. Those
are the two prizes in the Jackie Sack a day
so back to you, I sup supple, Thank you so much,
young lady. One, two, three, four or five.

Speaker 5 (01:56:14):
Let's see let's go three?

Speaker 4 (01:56:16):
Yeah, three sounds good. Let's go, Gary, Gary, how you doing?
Glad to hear that? Buddy? Want to play a little
game with us?

Speaker 11 (01:56:23):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:56:24):
All right, there he is it?

Speaker 1 (01:56:28):
Show all right?

Speaker 4 (01:56:29):
Gary, this is a real easy game. Boss.

Speaker 3 (01:56:31):
I got a question here for you. Four answers. One
of these answers, Gary, is not true.

Speaker 4 (01:56:36):
What trying to fool you? A big dog?

Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
But just see through it. I'll send you over to Jackie.
He's got a couple of things that you can choose from.

Speaker 4 (01:56:41):
Are you ready, awesome, ready to go? Here we go, buddy,
On this day.

Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
In nineteen fifty five, Fred White, drummer for the Grammy
Award winning R and B powerhouse group earth Wind and Fire,
was born on this day. Here are three fun facts
about earth Wind and Fire and one lie I told
old last September.

Speaker 4 (01:57:01):
Duh you remember yea?

Speaker 3 (01:57:03):
Yeah, all right, but here we go. We're talking about
earth Wind and Fire. Which one of these is wrong?
Number one, earth Wind and Fire was the first black
artist to sell out a stadium. They sold out Giant
Stadium in New York in nineteen seventy nine.

Speaker 4 (01:57:18):
Wo Wow. Number two.

Speaker 3 (01:57:19):
The band was originally called the Salty Peppers. Number three,
earth Wind and Fire had a zero tolerance drug policy.
If you got caught using, you were out. Or Lastly,
September twenty first was chosen for that song because it
was the date his son was due to be born.
Which of those is a lie?

Speaker 5 (01:57:41):
I'm gonna go with number two.

Speaker 3 (01:57:43):
No, that's absolutely true. Earth Wind and Fire before they formed,
was known as the Salty Peppers.

Speaker 4 (01:57:49):
I love them, I've seen them live. They are I
think they were a strange pick when they did the
benefit concert for the wildfires. Oh yeah, yeah it was.
They're incredibly good though, right, all right? Deb one, two,
four or five? Let's go four? Four? Is Angie, Angie?
How you doing? I'm great? How are you good? Angie?

Speaker 3 (01:58:11):
Glad to hear that you're doing well. We're talking about
the band earth Wind and Fire. Which one of these
isn't true? Number one, earth Wind and Fire was the
first black artist to sell out a stadium. They sold
out Giant Stadium in New York in nineteen seventy nine.
Number two earth Wind and Fire had a zero tolerance
drug policy. If you got caught using, you were gone.
Or lastly, September twenty first was chosen.

Speaker 4 (01:58:30):
For that song because it was the date that ma
and Maurice White, the founder's son, was due.

Speaker 18 (01:58:38):
I think the last one.

Speaker 3 (01:58:39):
No wrong, that's absolutely true. Unfortunately I messed up on
purpose so that you would get it wrong. That's not true.

Speaker 4 (01:58:44):
I just messed up. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:58:46):
September twenty first was the date that Maurice White, the
founder and lead singer of Earth Wind and Fire's son,
was due, So that's why he chose that date.

Speaker 4 (01:58:53):
Oh wow, one, two or five, Let's go two two
is Andy, Andy, how you doing. I'm doing great, big Dog.

Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
You got a fifty to fifty shot here going to
the Jackie Sack. Which one of these is not true
in regards to earth Wind and Fire. Number one, earth
Wind and Fire was the first black artist to sell
out a stadium. They sold out Giants Stadium in New
York in nineteen seventy nine. Or lastly, earth Wind and
Fire had a zero tolerance drug policy. If you got
caught using, you were out.

Speaker 1 (01:59:20):
Number one.

Speaker 4 (01:59:21):
Number one is the answer, big Dog. Let me ask
you this though, what were they the black first artist
to sell out? I don't know that, but I know
they had a strong stance on anti drugs.

Speaker 3 (01:59:36):
Yeah, yeah, Madison Square Garden. They were the first black
act to sell out Madison Square Garden. You're a winner,
big Dog, Andy, will get you a prize. And just
no time at.

Speaker 4 (01:59:44):
All to tell to me was you kept saying Giants
Stadium in New York, Jersey.

Speaker 3 (01:59:51):
And it was built in seventy eight, so they had
their big run in the late seventies. That was when
they were destroying it. And they are an incredibly balented band,
a thousand of them. They did have a zero tolerance
drug policy. They would not tolerate it. No drugs at all.
If you get caught using, you were gone, regardless. And
it was three brothers who started this band, not just
black guys brothers. I saw that they were actual brothers.

Speaker 4 (02:00:15):
Go ahead, buddy, I'm sorry. Two years I saw them
open for uh Linel Richie. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, what
a great I went there. I want to see her
at the wind and find I'm like, oh, Lionel Richard.

Speaker 3 (02:00:25):
Who was a member of their nemesis, Yeah, yeah, the
Common because those guys like battled but line.

Speaker 4 (02:00:31):
It was amazing show of nothing but hits.

Speaker 3 (02:00:34):
Yeah. So funny enough. My wife's boss is a massive fan.
And it turns out that my wife comes home about
this is about two three years ago, and she goes, hey,
you want to go to a show? Tina bought us
tickets and they you know, they have great teeths. I'm like, okay,
no problem. And the funny thing is is I didn't
even bother asking who it was because I was just
gonna go. My wife's there supporting her boss, and she goes, yeah, yeah,

(02:00:55):
we're second row for earth Wind and Fired Hardrock Live.

Speaker 20 (02:00:59):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (02:00:59):
Let me tell you it was next level. I mean
it was next level. You're right there. It was unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (02:01:05):
I bet a couple other.

Speaker 3 (02:01:06):
Things you may not know about Heart Are about the
hard Rug Live about Earth Wind and Fire before we
get to the top of the hour. The band's name
comes from founder Maurice White's astrological sign. He's a Sagittarius,
but he changed air to wind. Okay uh. Earth Wind
and Fire were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in the year two thousand by Little Kim

(02:01:28):
the main hold one second. Yeah, the main gist of
the core of the band were all brothers. It was
these three brothers. Marius White and his two brothers started
the band. They were actually in the Salting Peppers together
as well. And then, like I said, lastly, earth Wind
and Fire was the first black artist to sell up
Madison Square Garden.

Speaker 4 (02:01:48):
Yeah, that tiny little.

Speaker 3 (02:01:49):
Spot price tagle break will do a segment then have
It's Only Money Brasha Brown in today.

Speaker 4 (02:01:53):
We'll do that next s.

Speaker 28 (02:01:57):
Good afternoon, guys. I don't speed around town because you
don't ever really get anywhere any faster. I speed on
the highway because you can affect the outcome. You can
get there sooner if you speed on the highway. But
when I'm driving and my wife is my passenger, I
can see her little eyes darting between her mirror and
over my shoulder, wondering why I don't dive into which

(02:02:18):
ever lane she thinks is incrementally moving faster than the
one I'm in. Drives me crazy, like.

Speaker 4 (02:02:23):
I see what's up, Colbert Crewe.

Speaker 19 (02:02:26):
It's Ryan, the Eagles fan from Friday. I forgot the
call in yesterday, but I guess I want to say
congratulations to the res I mean San Francisco forty nine.

Speaker 4 (02:02:34):
H Yeah, I was confident, but I was wrong.

Speaker 19 (02:02:37):
I can whine and complain about the game all I want,
but my winding and complaining won't change the outcome of
the score anyway.

Speaker 1 (02:02:43):
I was wrong.

Speaker 19 (02:02:44):
Congrats all you who picked the Niners to win. I
hope you're having a good day.

Speaker 4 (02:02:47):
Peace peace.

Speaker 17 (02:02:49):
Hey Cob crew, It's to go back to abound in
in no minutes, since I've been on.

Speaker 11 (02:02:56):
All of them.

Speaker 19 (02:03:00):
Today.

Speaker 11 (02:03:01):
Enjoyed.

Speaker 4 (02:03:02):
And you know how we Spanish people do.

Speaker 11 (02:03:07):
This new death.

Speaker 4 (02:03:11):
What you say, good afternoon?

Speaker 27 (02:03:13):
That Jim Show, Prince of the Islands, U Jammy, I
just wanted to see.

Speaker 1 (02:03:19):
Happy birthday to Bobs.

Speaker 16 (02:03:21):
I hope to really enjoy her day, and I hope
you didn't get it.

Speaker 19 (02:03:25):
You get some present from Jimmie Bobs, but you know
he's a screws.

Speaker 4 (02:03:29):
Made up He's not gonna give you anything.

Speaker 12 (02:03:31):
Happy birthday, Barbara Chow.

Speaker 4 (02:03:37):
Now I'm still waiting for the time to run out.

Speaker 10 (02:03:39):
I know.

Speaker 4 (02:03:40):
Geez, you stretch yourself, You ruin your own bit. Yeah,
you called me part jack.

Speaker 11 (02:03:44):
Did you go back to the four fifty four fifty
one mark. There's a perfect little sound bite them there.

Speaker 4 (02:03:50):
It's gonna get great use for the show. It's for
your dead every birthday.

Speaker 5 (02:03:55):
I knew it's got something to do with that damn
Bear's game.

Speaker 4 (02:03:57):
No, it's gonna be as using the word panties, I'm sure. No,
it's got to do with Jim speaking in first person
saying about pulling your pants down. And I never wanted
to touch you. I never said any of that. That's ridiculous.
I said she was supple that's a joke. It wasn't
about her. It was the Timothy Busfield segment where you
said in first person something that I already had marked out.

(02:04:23):
Jesus that's just what I need orry for seven nine
six one four one your six o'clock keyword, his friend
f R I E N D. Go to real radio
dot FM and send that away for your chance in
a thousand bucks. Friend, guys, that is your six o'clock keyword.
Good luck. We hope you went. I'm Jim. There's deb Hello.
Jack is ear as well. Frejuer. Brown's sitting in with
us for just a little bit this segment you're doing, bratch.

Speaker 8 (02:04:43):
I'm doing fantastic.

Speaker 4 (02:04:44):
See you, buddy, Thank you.

Speaker 3 (02:04:45):
We'll get It's only money here in a few minutes.
Branch's just gonna hang out with us and chill, so
he doesn't set up there by himself on his phone
and doom scroll. Hey real quick, we had a topic earlier.
When you and your wife drive around, who does most
of the driving h s.

Speaker 4 (02:05:04):
She didn't say it.

Speaker 8 (02:05:06):
She she does this. She goes, oh, that's that's the
noise that she knows. I can't stand the car that's
breaking in front of me.

Speaker 10 (02:05:15):
Right.

Speaker 4 (02:05:15):
Yeah, So she freaks out when you drive right because
she thinks you drive too aggressively or something or amazing.
I don't see anything, Okay, I see now what's it
like when she drives?

Speaker 8 (02:05:29):
I'm calm, Oh, it's.

Speaker 4 (02:05:32):
Liar, It's fine.

Speaker 5 (02:05:33):
She's listening.

Speaker 4 (02:05:34):
Hey, dude, your tone is she is listening? Are you
serious with this? Why did I ask you to come
in here? She's a newly wed. Your tone is what
they call a dead giveaway? It's all good.

Speaker 3 (02:05:50):
Does she do the same things that she accuses you
of doing while driving? And a fit of hypocrisy that
no to give a credit.

Speaker 4 (02:05:58):
No, she does not.

Speaker 8 (02:05:58):
She's she's a fine driver. But I like to think
that I am quieter about man.

Speaker 5 (02:06:02):
She must be in the car right now, in the
parking lot.

Speaker 1 (02:06:05):
Idea.

Speaker 4 (02:06:05):
What was today?

Speaker 3 (02:06:06):
This is where all that the whole thing came up.
I think you should be able to my wife accuses
me of being a horrible driver. While being a horrible driver,
my thought was, download the information from her vehicle. Everything
remembers everything now right, input that into a vehicle at
a business and then put her in the passenger your
seat and push go so that she can understand what

(02:06:28):
it's like to ride with her.

Speaker 4 (02:06:30):
Yeah, yeah, he's not.

Speaker 5 (02:06:32):
Going to do that.

Speaker 7 (02:06:33):
Like I said, he's a newlywed and she's in the
parking lot sitting in the car listening.

Speaker 1 (02:06:38):
Right.

Speaker 8 (02:06:40):
I don't believe she's in the parking lot, but she
might be listening.

Speaker 4 (02:06:43):
We could tell, all right.

Speaker 3 (02:06:45):
Walmart and Google are partnering partnering up for a new
shopping experience. Anything to take down Amazon, Yeah, anything to
get you junk faster is what they're gonna do.

Speaker 1 (02:06:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:06:56):
Wal Mart and Google have announced launch of a new
shopping experience built on Gemini or Google's Gemini AI technology. Now,
at first, when I read this story, I just started
essing on it left and right, because you guys know,
I hate the idea of being able to buy junk faster.
But I have to tell you it is kind of
an interesting thing. And although I do peruse the AI
world as not scary by any means, but you know,

(02:07:19):
it seems like it's like a Rube Goldberg machine in
some situations, Like it's almost faster just to do it
by yourself rather than having to incorporate technology.

Speaker 4 (02:07:30):
Well, there's some things, but I think AI is really
the antithesis of that. It's supposed to remove a lot
of the things that you would be doing right, right,
But it's all based on an algorithm that I give it. Right,
So if I think outside of my own algorithm, it
doesn't show me the things that I may want to discover. See. Yeah,
Like my daughter complains about the algorithm that feature like

(02:07:53):
videos on YouTube. She's like, I want to see new things, right, Yeah,
she feels like it's just beating her. That's exactly what
I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (02:08:01):
Same here, Like you watch one video of something, you're
gonna get fifty different versions of the same thing. You're
not going to get really any variety. Once you've shown
the machine that you like that for thirty seconds, ten seconds,
whatever the number is, it's going to keep feeding you that.
But here's the issue that I find kind of unique
about this. It says when shoppers ask a question. For example,
let's say I'm asking about camping equipment, right, Jim, and

(02:08:24):
I will automatically surface relevant Walmart products. In other words,
let's say going camping for the first time, what do
I need? Not only will it bring it up on
the machine, it shows you exactly where it is, how
many are in are in inventory, and it'll package that
order up for you so that all you have to
do is go to Walmart, walk in the door, get

(02:08:46):
your package, and walk out the door. Now it doesn't
seem like it's much different than like publics, But this
thing actually gives you examples of what you could use
as opposed to just going to a website going I
need cucumbers, I need some grits, I need some or whatever.
This thing actually when you just type in, let's say
you go in there waxing my car, it may show

(02:09:06):
you items you never even thought that you would need,
saving you a trip from going back and forth. Hardware
stores need this when you're doing plumbing projects, because that
way you don't have to drive back to the hardware
store fifteen times.

Speaker 4 (02:09:18):
Will never stop. Yeah, yeah, that'll never stop. But that's
exactly what they're doing. So it's like sponsored search results
on steroids. Yes, exactly what it is. It's his.

Speaker 3 (02:09:28):
Customers can link their Walmart accounts to the new AI
platform for enhanced personalization. It will store their personal or
their purchasing history, combine new items with those already in
Walmart or Sam's Club carts, and retain all of their
Walmart Plus and Sam's Club information for their memberships. So
once you log into that and you use this as
a shopping tool, it will be your shopping tool. It'll

(02:09:52):
also offer customers Pas delivery with hundreds of thousands of
locally curated products that can be delivered under three hours
or as is, just thirty minutes. It's gonna launch in
the United States before he rolled out internationally.

Speaker 4 (02:10:09):
It doesn't sound like a lot of choice.

Speaker 3 (02:10:11):
That's the thing I do as a guy who like
during Christmas, like if I have let's say I have
to go into Target, right, and I go into Target.

Speaker 4 (02:10:20):
I'm looking for let's say, a book, some socks, and
like some drinks. I walk into Target, I go to
where the socks are, I go to the where the
book is, and I go to where the drinks are.
I put that in my cart and I walk out
the door. I do not peruse. If I have a plan,
I do not pay either, right, Jim Culber.

Speaker 3 (02:10:42):
And this thing allows you to get in and experienced
purchases around what you're looking for. And I think it
is kind of a cool thing because if I type
in like and this is a perfect example, I mean,
this is Walmart. But let's say I'm working on my
car and I type in I need to replace this
particular part right, and it says and it brings up, yes,

(02:11:02):
we have your part. Do you also know you need this,
like that project may ask it for that. That project
may have two other things that goes with it, but
you don't know that because all you're looking for is
the one part. It's actually telling you that that part.
Usually that purchase usually coincides with two other purchases.

Speaker 4 (02:11:19):
You kind of loosely see that on Amazon currently, Like
when you purchase something, it says other people who've searched
for this also purchase this, this, and this. Right.

Speaker 3 (02:11:28):
Yeah, I do see that, Yeah, but it's a This
application is specifically for shopping at Walmart, where it can
actually tell you what they have, what they don't have,
and it'll help you isolate where you need to go.

Speaker 4 (02:11:39):
I think maybe more than others. I don't hate it. Yeah,
I don't hate it either, and I hate that I
don't hate it, but I don't hate it. It says.

Speaker 3 (02:11:49):
The retail sector will be watching closely as Walmart and
Google attempt to further integrate agentic commerce.

Speaker 4 (02:11:55):
Wow, I've never seen that word yet.

Speaker 3 (02:11:57):
A model where conversational AI can draw I have direct
sales transactions.

Speaker 4 (02:12:01):
So, Jim, you were asking, I think a week or
two ago, or maybe it was before the break of
where how is it gonna How will AI be monetized?
This is just another example Shori of you know a
partnership between Google and Walmart.

Speaker 3 (02:12:15):
And you're right, and I know for I know from
behind the scenes because my wife's company has done business
with Walmart for years and we know how they operate.
One of the one of the biggest I'll beat you down,
one of the biggest sticks in their crawl. One of
the biggest problems that Google has right now that they
can't stand internally is they're getting their asses kicked online
retail by Amazon.

Speaker 4 (02:12:36):
They have been.

Speaker 3 (02:12:37):
They have been firing bullet after bullet trying to find
out a way to dig into that that percentage of Walmart.

Speaker 4 (02:12:41):
Yes, yeah, Amazon sales.

Speaker 3 (02:12:43):
Because they were slow rolling out to the game and
when and they saw how far and how quickly they
got behind, and they started panicking a little bit. And
it's weird to say the largest retailer and planet Earth
is panicking, but they are. And they need a way
to compete with Amazon. The ability to deliver the products easily,
the ability to get to the products easily, and the
ability to kind of tell their and let their customer

(02:13:03):
know that Walmart can be trusted to get everything they need.
You quote don't have to go to Amazon to find
this type scenario. And if it rolls out, looks like
all the people that have looked at the plan think
that there's a possibility if they do it correctly, it
could work. Because people have brand recognition with Walmart, they
already know like, you can't go you can't go to
an Amazon retail spot. I mean, if something goes wrong,

(02:13:24):
you can still go to Walmart and walk in their store.
And there's there's a connection there that's hard to explode.
Imagine if you could people watch at Amazon.

Speaker 4 (02:13:32):
Get out of here all right for seven nine four one.
It's only money. Next.

Speaker 25 (02:13:46):
Happy Birthday, Deb Jim Phoenix horns were the main horn

do It's only money.

Speaker 2 (02:15:15):
Oh, people passionate about planning for their future bras a
love investment with to build.

Speaker 6 (02:15:25):
Isn't that really just common sense financial advice? It's oh, okay,
it's money. With Scott Brown from Edge our family well.

Speaker 4 (02:15:36):
Sitting in today is Briton Brown giving up a good lab.

Speaker 8 (02:15:40):
I'm just thinking how insane it would be if Scott
Brown sounded like that guy. If you come into the
office and that's what he's telling me.

Speaker 4 (02:15:47):
One more visit I think we need a new intro
with brachers. Yeah, maybe we have to that away, little
little record scratch. Yeah, yeah, how's it going, buddy?

Speaker 8 (02:15:55):
Fantastic?

Speaker 3 (02:15:56):
Rachel Brown with Edgeworder Family Wealth Edgeward Familywealth dot Com
right there in College Park, been there for thirty eight
years plus. Actually, fiduciaries here in Central Florida, making sure
that you make the right decisions as you enter your
retirement area or just spanage your money portfolio so that
you can guarantee that you have some money to spend
as you get.

Speaker 4 (02:16:14):
A little bit older and enjoy your life.

Speaker 8 (02:16:16):
That's the idea.

Speaker 4 (02:16:16):
Nothing wrong with that, I don't think so absolutely. How's
your week been, bub good, busy, very busy, And we
haven't seen you since New Years? You haven't have a
good time for New Years?

Speaker 11 (02:16:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:16:29):
Yeah, a good time, very nice? All right.

Speaker 3 (02:16:32):
So what happens is these guys come in and kind
of give us some things that they want to talk
about and that they think will affect your life positively,
and we get to those pretty quickly. And the one
right off rip I actually was going to ask you
if it was if you typed it incorrectly, because it
didn't it didn't hit me the right way.

Speaker 4 (02:16:48):
But I think you have it right.

Speaker 3 (02:16:48):
It says, is giving money to a financial advisor better
than your foural one k? In other thors, what you're
asking is, will you guys out earn what my four
to one K does?

Speaker 4 (02:16:58):
If I decided to go it's all your yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:17:01):
Yeah, and rephrase this so. And I brought this up
because it's not an uncommon thing that happens, And I'll
try to paint this picture accurately and hopefully I'm not
stereotyping in that this. I feel like this is more
common with women than it is for men, and that
women behaviorally I find are way better savers. Yes, However,

(02:17:22):
I think with that comes up, I don't want to
do this incorrectly. And because investments can sometimes be intimidating, right,
the language surrounding it, everything about it is by design,
I think, made to be intimidating, making the bar to
entry a little higher than it probably should be. You
get women sometimes who are in their late forties or

(02:17:43):
fifties who are sitting on a lot of cash and
suddenly feel like they're behind and now that should be
an investment instead of cash, And so they come to
somebody like myself and say I have all this cash, will.

Speaker 1 (02:17:54):
You take it?

Speaker 8 (02:17:57):
I'm not that's weird. Keep waiting for you to say
it too, and so and so the conversation becomes, Okay, well,
you know what will I do with it? If I
take this money? As the advisor, is that the best
thing for you? And many of them are not maxing
out there for one case, and one of the benefits
to a four to one K is immediately, in one way,

(02:18:19):
shape or form, is a tax advantage that I, as
an advisor, cannot offer you at least to that same
dollar amount. Right right, you have higher contribution limits. You
can put in excess of twenty thousand dollars into your
four h one K with me, with your personal account,
You're limited somewhere between seventy five to eighty five hundred
dollars a year in terms of what I can give
you in tax benefit. So I desperately want the answer

(02:18:41):
to be, you should give me all your money. That's
the best thing to do. However, in a lot of
these cases, the places they should be starting is their
four one K, Because one, I can't promise you I'm
an out return anything. Ye yea yeah, right, But I
can promise you that that tax benefit exists right outside
of my office.

Speaker 4 (02:18:57):
Let me ask you something interesting, because I'm in that
world where I in the next couple of years I
want to I'm going to start deciding, you know where
and what I'm going to do for the remainder of
my existence and stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:19:06):
Decision, very easy decision. Actually, I heard something very interesting.
I text your dad about this and I said, I
heard one of the most unique things said. Most people
don't retire to something, they just retire from something. And
how valuable it is to have a plan to retire too,
not just the I'm going to stop working, and I
do have a plan.

Speaker 23 (02:19:26):
I do.

Speaker 4 (02:19:26):
I have an idea what I want to do after
I do radio here. I'm going to teach golf.

Speaker 3 (02:19:31):
More than likely, I'm going to get a PGA what
they call a PGA car, you know, become a member
of the PGA absolute and then teach golf, probably privately,
to give lessons.

Speaker 4 (02:19:41):
I have a knack for it. I've got a couple
of my friends in pretty good shape.

Speaker 8 (02:19:44):
You've shared your handicap with me.

Speaker 4 (02:19:46):
I think that's fitting well, I mean, and it's one
of those things that I really enjoy being there.

Speaker 3 (02:19:50):
I enjoy being on the golf course. I enjoy working
with people. I enjoy watching people have the epiphany when
they do something. They're swinging, because if you play the game,
you understand how valuable that can.

Speaker 8 (02:20:00):
I've seen Scott Brown swing. He's probably listening right now.
It will give you some money.

Speaker 3 (02:20:04):
So my old thing is is when you know, regardless
of the number, right, because every number is gonna be
the same. I might have this amount of money at
this age. Somebody may have more money at that age
or less money at that age. Have you guys broken
it down to when you take over somebody? Is it
an age thing like it's sixty five you want to
seek your advice? Or is it at a certain amount

(02:20:26):
of money if I have Like when I get a
million dollars, should I come see you are eight hundred
thousand or five hundred thousand?

Speaker 8 (02:20:30):
No, it's a can I provide more value to you
than you can on your own? Most likely is the
conversation we're having, And that's not a dollar amount right
for some people. Some people are extremely educated in terms
of what we do and are up to speed on
all of it. And you know they come to us
to see if we know something they don't. And the
case is no, then why give me your money? I
pay me at least, you know, unless it's a matter

(02:20:51):
of hey, I just don't like spending my time doing
this thing. That's that I understand. There are people like that,
but no, it's it's a matter of value. And again
I example I'm using is somebody came to us, but
essentially they had a lot of cash. They said, should
I give you this? Eighty thousand dollars was the conversation.
And I said, well, are you maxed out your four
O one? Okay, no, not even close, right, And I said, well, look,

(02:21:13):
the performance is the performance. It's like a commodity that
you can get it anywhere. I can't offer you the
tax benefit today, right. And he said, so you're telling
me that the smartest thing I can do is not
give you my money and not pay you. And I said, unfortunately,
that is the conversation we are having. I find people
find more trust in you when you say things like that.

Speaker 4 (02:21:31):
Two of them. I mean, do they come back when
you say stuff like that?

Speaker 8 (02:21:33):
I would guess that somebody, you know, if in five
ten years, when they actually get closer to retirement and
hopefully have taken that advice and gotten all the tax benefits,
et cetera. I would then at least sit back down.
And that's what I urge a lot of these people
to do, is say I cannot, and I know I've
said this on here before, but I cannot justify you
paying me, and you will figure that out sooner than later,
and you will leave and you will be a client

(02:21:54):
for a short while and that will be end of
our relationship. So many of these people, I say, here's
what I would do. I'll send you an email it
step by step says hey, for the next year. I
think you should do these things. If in a year
something changes or you just want to revisit it, come
back and we'll do this again.

Speaker 4 (02:22:08):
Yeah, right on.

Speaker 3 (02:22:09):
Talking to Bratcher Brown from Edgewater Family Wealth Edworar Family
Wealth thought Com will tell you more about that those
guys a little bit later and how you can get
some free information that can really change the way you
look at your finances as well. It says here, what
do people get wrong when they are trying to calculate
their quote number for retirement? Kind of like what I
was just asking you about, I didn't even read that
second question before I asked that.

Speaker 4 (02:22:28):
I didn't mean to skip line there. I knew you
were going to ask you that one of the things,
one of the.

Speaker 3 (02:22:33):
Things that we do get quite a few questions about
as people kind of in their mid fifties, kind of
entering that going into their sixties, realizing the magic number
for them maybe sixty seven years old if they want
to if they want to get there before they kind
of start claiming their Social Security benefit. And that number
is an interesting thing because that is more than likely
one of the number one questions that we get asked here.

Speaker 4 (02:22:55):
Hey, get asked, I have this much? Should I be
with you guys? And and that is a difficult question
to answer.

Speaker 8 (02:23:02):
Yeah, I mean in terms of the number you should
have to be with us? Again that that's a value conversation.
A lot of people they're there their number when they
think of the number is and and somebody just asked
me at dinner, like, what's what's the retirement number? In
terms of what what's the dollar amount I gotta have?

Speaker 4 (02:23:18):
And and is social media stuff about that?

Speaker 11 (02:23:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (02:23:21):
And I get that, but I find that the two
things that people probably miscalculate more often than not, is
one how much they're gonna spend in terms of they go, well,
you know, I won't have the mortgage anymore, so that
you know that expense will go away, and I'll own
the car at that point, so that expense will go away.
But what they're not factoring in is you're gonna have
a lot of time on your hands, and you will

(02:23:42):
find new and exciting ways to spend money. In me,
you know, in the way you have not previously, So
you know the expenses that are going away, things like
the mortgage and the car payment, whatever it may be.
I say keep the number as is, because I'm gonna
assume you're gonna spend that money, hopefully in a way
that brings you some type of fulfillment and retirement, right
right right. The second one is inflation. People go, oh, well,

(02:24:04):
I spend fifty sixty, seventy eighty, whatever it is, thousand
dollars a year, and then their mind to go, well,
I just got to spend that every single year. Okay, maybe,
but inflation does not go away, even in good times.
Inflation does not go away. So if your number is
eighty thousand, ten years from now, if you spend eighty
thousand dollars. You can find that your lifestyle looks noticeably different,

(02:24:25):
way different, right, and so that has to be part
of your calculation with your number. I find that most
four one k calculators struggle to include that part in
the conversation, right.

Speaker 3 (02:24:35):
And that's where a giant advantage coming to you as
like that, because you can kind of get all the
minutia out of there and kind of figure you know,
from your fee to all of that other things. Sure
you could get the out the door number of what
you're looking to do. And you know, we talked about
this with Scott a billion times, and I do believe
it is the most important thing as you approach that
age is to figure out what you are going to
do after the fact. If you don't come in with

(02:24:57):
a plan, if you just come in and go, I'm retiring,
I don't want to work anymore, blah blah blah blah blah,
that is a much different plan that I'm gonna come in.
I want to retire from this particular career, but I
do want to move into another career. Here's what that
is probably going to pay. Blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 4 (02:25:12):
Move forward.

Speaker 8 (02:25:13):
Yeah, yeah, and and and planning for all of the scenarios.
That's that's the thing is, it's not okay. You tell
me exactly what you want to do, and I'm gonna
give you one shot at this, right, don't get it wrong.

Speaker 4 (02:25:22):
Right, it's okay.

Speaker 8 (02:25:23):
Here's scenario A. What if you go part time instead
of retiring at this age? Okay, what if you stopped
for three years, but then you know you make ten
grand on the side after that, right, And those are
all conversations that can happen. And as I've told everybody
who's walked into our office, nobody has come in here
and said, here's my plan and then five years later
come back and said, and it looks exactly like I

(02:25:45):
thought it would.

Speaker 4 (02:25:48):
Now step by step is exactly how you s it
would happen.

Speaker 8 (02:25:53):
Yeah, that is not occurred.

Speaker 4 (02:25:54):
Yeah, very interesting. Man four oh seven nine six four
one text us seven seven zero three one talking to
at your brown from Edgewater Family Wealth. That's Edgewaterfamilywealth dot com.
I know when you know the website, you can make
a consultation to talk with one of you guys. But
you do take phone calls?

Speaker 1 (02:26:09):
Do you not want?

Speaker 12 (02:26:09):
I do?

Speaker 3 (02:26:10):
And people do call in if somebody just had a
question from something they've heard today.

Speaker 8 (02:26:14):
Yep, absolutely, And you know, again, we do have clients
that we do service and that does take up some
of our time, so we're not always immediately available, but
I promise I will call you back at least within
a couple of days. Usually it is a busy time
right now, so we will get around to it. Yeah, Jack,
you have a plan that for you are done with
a radio career, You have what you want to do?

Speaker 4 (02:26:32):
Yeah, not stop working and then make sure I have
some money set aside for gambling. Yeah, gambling, right, right,
for gambling. Do you have a plan after radio carreer
is done? Not really, I'm I'm I don't think i'd
be very good with retirement.

Speaker 5 (02:26:45):
Oh really, I don't.

Speaker 4 (02:26:46):
Well, your mom is that way right? Your mom literally
worked until she couldn't.

Speaker 7 (02:26:50):
Yeah, I mean, and now she's got a side hustle, right,
So yeah, I just I just find that, you know. Plus,
I will never forget meeting an older French doctor who
said he would never retire. He'll take more time off,
he'll travel more, but he's hated seeing what it's done
to his friends. That kind of mental atrophy. That kind
of happens. You lose touch with technology, you lose touch with.

Speaker 4 (02:27:13):
A lot, so you get bored, You get bored, Yeah, yeah,
you get weird. Yeah yeah yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:27:17):
Don't talk to people really because a lot of people
that is their socialization.

Speaker 4 (02:27:22):
You isolate.

Speaker 11 (02:27:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:27:23):
I mean, and this is completely off topic, but there's
plenty of research that is showing since COVID time is
the new hybrid thing and what is done to more
closer to my generation in terms of our sociability because
of our lack of interaction in person. The same is
true of retirement.

Speaker 4 (02:27:37):
Yeah, unbelievable. Yeah. From the time we started this segment
till I met Brader, you know, at Edgewater and got
went over my numbers, it's I started thinking, like, what
does retirement look like? And I couldn't think of anything
that I wanted to do other than continue to work. Yeah,
and Jim, you nailed it that one time you said

(02:27:58):
you're not going to Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:28:01):
I just know your personality. You work when you're not
supposed to be working, and that happens. And I like
working as well. But I mean, when you've done something
for thirty three, thirty four years, regardless of how.

Speaker 18 (02:28:10):
Fun it is or is not.

Speaker 4 (02:28:12):
You know, yeah, you just want something else to challenge you,
you know well, and even.

Speaker 8 (02:28:15):
All use Scott Brown as an example. You know, Yes,
he is in Colorado and I'm sure he's you know,
spent some time on the mountain, but he's not wired
to stop. Yeah, when we wake we wake up in
the morning there at five o'clock in the morning because
of the time change. You know, he's he's already either
listening to a podcast about what we do for a living,
reading a book where he's sending his emails. And I
don't think for him that retirement is one day. I'll

(02:28:36):
hand this over to the boys, as he would call it,
and walk away from this front.

Speaker 4 (02:28:40):
You know, it's not like that.

Speaker 8 (02:28:41):
Social media major your job more difficult in terms of
the amount of information people bring to us now.

Speaker 4 (02:28:49):
Yeah for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:28:50):
Yeah, But do you find that once you sift them
through what they see online that they actually maybe trust
you guys a little bit more once you kind of
show them the light, like, hey, look, yeah, I can
understand why that person says that, but you also have
to understand that person trying to sell you something or whatever.
Do you find that it offers more clarity once you're
able to explain it to them.

Speaker 8 (02:29:07):
I think so a big part of our job, at
least as what I've used our responsibilities to educate. You know,
we do a lot of events throughout the year. We
actually have one coming up and just over a week
a hundred clients out to a dinner. And some of
that is to look at the year interview and the
year going forward, but a lot of it is setting

(02:29:28):
around education. We'll do third Thursdays where we have some
people in for meat and cheese and wine and whatever,
you know, clients and say hey, here's what we've been
talking about internally, and now we're having a discussion for
you guys. Because the more educated a client is, the
more empowered they become, the better questions they can ask,
increases transparency between us and them. Yes, if we are

(02:29:49):
the people who bring clients into a room and throw
out a bunch of jargon and say, well, this portfolio
is quite optimized because the sharp ratio versus the pe
which we all obviously red flag scenario, well, and I
feel it's people trying to intimidate you out of the
conversation so you can't say what is it you actually.

Speaker 4 (02:30:07):
Do, right. Yeah, yeah, that's a weird question to answer.

Speaker 16 (02:30:10):
Some of those.

Speaker 8 (02:30:11):
It can be, but I like to think that, you know,
we can always point to hey, here's where we're providing
the value, and here's the actual dollars that it equates to.

Speaker 3 (02:30:21):
Yeah, it's edwadorfamilywealth dot com. You can go to a
pull down bar there making a consultation. You can call
these guys as well. You can also download free books.
He's got a book called I Got a Guy that
is a guide to help you find me a financial advisor.
May not even be them, but you can do that.

Speaker 4 (02:30:34):
And then what I thought that was a book if
you have to get rid of a body.

Speaker 3 (02:30:38):
I got any And the other one is I've never
met anybody rich yep, And you can get both of those.
Both of those books are absolutely free. You can download
them right there on the website. And then again, if
you want to get some more information a little bit
deeper dive, just call these guys, set up an appointment.
They'll gladly roll through your account. They're not going to
look down their nose at you. They've seen every iteration
of portfolios.

Speaker 8 (02:30:58):
I've had every call from Hey, I'm thinking about refinancing
my mortgage to uh, how do I make sure my
kid never runs out of month?

Speaker 11 (02:31:06):
Righty?

Speaker 4 (02:31:06):
Exactly? Yeah, and you guys have answers or at least
a plan for a lot of that.

Speaker 11 (02:31:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:31:10):
Yeah, we've heard those conversations.

Speaker 5 (02:31:11):
But your kids worry about themselves.

Speaker 7 (02:31:14):

Speaker 5 (02:31:36):

Speaker 5 (02:35:11):
Yeah, we'll just give me a second, all right.

Speaker 7 (02:35:14):
Two Sandford parents are accused of child neglect after their
five month old twins were hospitalized for malnourishment. Some ofm
On County detectives say the twins weighed less than six
pounds each and were severely dehydrated. Bones were showing, their
stomachs were sunken in how old? Five months old?

Speaker 24 (02:35:33):
Oh god?

Speaker 7 (02:35:34):
The babies were born prematurely, and doctors say they needed
to get more formula as they grew. Detectives said they
didn't find any cans of baby formula, even empty baby
bottles when they investigated the couple's RV. Twenty four year
old lee Roy Somersaul and twenty three year old Madison
Smith are each facing two counts of child neglect with

(02:35:55):
great bodily harm.

Speaker 3 (02:35:57):
Yeah, don't worry about your RV, guys, I'm gonna see
that for a little Yeah, exactly. Well, there's another case.
I thought you were talking about. The other story where
the guy just found two wandering toddlers in the middle
of the middle of the road because the grandparents left
the gate open and they just wandered out in the
middle of the highway.

Speaker 26 (02:36:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:36:11):
No this, Yeah, you need some chlorine in your gene pool.

Speaker 4 (02:36:16):
Free range baby. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:36:18):
And an immigrant detainee at Alligator Alcatraz wants to be
removed from the United States. The decision ends one of
the court challenges against the Florida Everglades Detention Center. The detainee,
identified only as m. A. Will cern A, soon returned
to Chile. His lawsuit claimed that state agencies and contractors
had no authority to operate the facility. It has faced

(02:36:40):
multiple legal legal challenges, especially related to environmental impact concerns,
and then also in South Florida. The upcoming college football
championship game in Miami Gardens on Monday is set to
be the most expensive in history. The Hurricanes will be
playing in their home stadium against the undefeated Indiana Who's

(02:37:00):
ticket prices started.

Speaker 4 (02:37:01):
About what fifteen hundred Jack, two thousand, Bratcher?

Speaker 5 (02:37:08):
You want to take a guest twelve?

Speaker 4 (02:37:10):
How about three thousand a mighty some seats? That's like
World Cup. So you have to think about your retirement plan,
halve Ago, a national championship games, World Cup, soccer sporting event,
you gotta leave a lot of padding in.

Speaker 8 (02:37:27):
And I don't do much planning for Miami.

Speaker 4 (02:37:29):
And here's why for you.

Speaker 7 (02:37:30):
Because some seats near the benches are going from going
