Speaker 1 (00:00):
I believe that should be categorized as rude. This is
One More Thing.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Armstrong and Getty. One More Thing. One of your rare
Katie-hosted One More Thing podcasts. Before we get to whatever
that is. So, everybody seems to be uncomfortable with this
topic of my current physical condition, as I have not.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Your BMs?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
I have not done that in four days and counting.
There are ads for it on television all the time.
It's clearly a common situation, right?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
It is.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
When I was a kid, I was always like... Why
are there so many ads for this? Or I remember
watching sitcoms. The old guys would always be like, you know,
fist bumping. Hey, I did it today. You know, I
was like, really? Is that what?

Speaker 4 (00:54):
It's not common enough for you to go, oh, this
is common. I'll just let it happen when it happens. No,
you need to keep an.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Eye on it. Well, right.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Well, it's uncomfortable. And I am starting to get concerned.
I think it was. I think it's been since the
last weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
It was five days last Thursday that you hadn't.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Had a good weekend, but since then. But so Joe
said we're getting lots of emails, stuff like that. Is
there a common theme on the remedies? Probably fiber is
a common theme.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah, hammer down some Miralax and this and that.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Hey, warm prune juice. I swear to all that is holy,
you will. That was what I did when I was pregnant.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I should try them all because it might be everybody's
body's a little different and one remedy works really great
for one person, not another. I'm doing the Miralax, which
is what ChatGPT suggested. I'm doing the max dosage every
day all week long.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
So Miralax takes 24 hours to react to your body
is what it says.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
On the bottle. I've been doing it every day for
several weeks.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
So go get the, not like the prune juice extract,
but like the glass bottle.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
100% prune juice extract.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
And warm it up for like 30 seconds in the
microwave and drink that.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
And be near a bathroom.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I will try that. Joe's disgusted with this conversation. Like
it's not a part of the human body.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
He's looking at us like peasants right now.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I just see our demographic going entirely 80 plus.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Or pregnant women.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Here's another one. Tell Jack to mix one tablespoon of
baking soda and eight ounces of water. Drink it. Within
30 minutes, he will have a cleaned out system. 30 minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
I'm wondering if people aren't confusing hiccup remedies with this.
Stand on your head and drink water with a spoon
in your mouth. No, that's the hiccups.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
All right. Here's the colon cleanse given to Vanessa by
her doctor. Four caps of Miralax and eight ounces of water.
Repeat four hours later. If no movement, by morning, repeat again.
You will go. Then at least one cap of Miralax
every day in something you drink. And stool softener every day.
It will keep you regular. Ask me how I know.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Most of those, some people say that you shouldn't use
that stuff because it throws off your system.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
It does.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Recent research says that's not true. I don't know, but
I'd hate to do any permanent damage to myself. Hold
a magnet next to your belly. Now, that's how to
tell if it's a boy or a girl.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
No.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Oh, jeez.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
So I can tell you from recent pregnant issues, Miralax
does mess with your regular routine.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Oh, I don't want that. Of course, my regular routine
is once every full moon.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Jack, if you're going to be home all day, warm
prune juice, just hang out for like 20 minutes.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
You'll be fine.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
All right.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Oh, boy.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
All right.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
That's great.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Joe, come on. Like you don't.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Joe's... pretending this is an old person thing but i
guess it's super common with anybody on glps yeah and
that's everybody i would.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Prefer to discuss the magic of the free market versus
collectivism not.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Pooping excuse me entertaining where is it going four.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Days saving it like money okay so what is what
is your thing there i'm collecting it's like it's pokemon cards.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Or something oh boy all right um here we go
uh this is i mean i feel like i'm beating
a dead horse at this point because i've already talked
about it breastfeeding.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I feel like now that.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
I'm four almost four months into this i feel like
it's a rude question to ask a woman oh are
you in what setting Well, so like yesterday, I'm at
the gym, and I brought Van with me, and he's
just hanging out in his little stroller, and everybody's oohing
and aahing over him. And this woman leans in, and
she goes, so you're breastfeeding him, right? And I looked

(04:54):
at her, and I said— That is so out of line.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
But that's where I'm going with this, is it's like,
for whatever reason— and this is a woman-to-woman thing, so you
guys are.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Whiskey, only whiskey.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Right yeah by the way that'll take care of your
other problem too but.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
I dip his bink and jameson and he shuts up.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
That's what i do uh no but this i guess
this is like a woman to woman thing so i'm
putting it out there on the podcast right now ladies
that is that is rude as hell to ask another
woman she goes so you're breastfeeding right and i said
no And then, oh, why? And now I have to
go into like the whole, oh, my supply didn't come in.

(05:38):
And it's nobody's effing business. But that is like a
regular question that you ask a new mom, apparently.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Memorize this. I don't discuss my private life with people
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Or you're an a-hole.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
But, I mean, I know-ish her. Like, she's like an acquaintance. Like,
I work out with her all the time.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
I wouldn't even ask my close friends that question.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Right?

Speaker 4 (06:05):
And that's what I'm saying, is it's like, you don't
ask about politics, religion, how much they make in life,
and don't ask a mom if she's breastfeeding.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Like, that's weird. Because when you do, if she is, oh,
that's beautiful.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
That's so great. Your body's getting all the nutrients. And
if she's not, oh, well, why? what ha what happened
to you?

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Are you, are you okay?

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Let me send you this study.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Yeah. And it just turns into this whole thing. And
I had to tell her, you know what? I couldn't breastfeed.
My son has a tongue tie. I pumped for two
months and then my body decided F you, I'm not
going to do this anymore. And the doctor said, don't
worry about it. But for her.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
It was like, oh, well you should, you should continue.
You should continue pumping. You should keep trying.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
And I mean, I guess if you're not doing it,
you don't know. But like, that's the most stressful thing
on the planet.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah, I'm all through the early pregnancy, baby. The number
of things people are willing to say or ask is
pretty shocking.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
It is unreal.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Develop a thick skin for it.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
They want to come down. They want to touch the baby.
Are you breastfeeding the baby?

Speaker 3 (07:19):
It's so unimaginable to me to violate somebody's privacy like that.
It's very difficult for me to get inside the head
of somebody who would and even talk about how you
would deal with that other than to say, I don't
discuss that sort of thing with people I don't know
very well.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
I think it's a girl thing. It's a woman thing.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
You're part of a magical, sacred club.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Men don't ask you.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
No, thank you, actually. Thank God.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Thank God for the men of the world because they
don't ask me that. But it's like this weird open
door that shouldn't be open between women where they're like, oh, so.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
And like, let's dive into all your most personal. Sorry, Hanson.
Let's dive into all your most personal shit. And I
don't know.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
It's a very bizarre world that I'm living in right now.
But my son is just so cute.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
You got that going for you.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
I had one more rude comment. I was talking to
my son about this. So we meet this guy who's
doing some work for me, and he's an older guy,
and we got on a conversation about how long he's
been doing. I said, how old are you? And he said,
how old do you think I am? Which is a
chick question. That's a rough question. That's not a dude
thing to say.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, that's not fair.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Dudes don't say that. They just tell you how old
they are. Chicks go with the how old do you
think I am, if you ask, which you shouldn't. Anyway...
He said, well, we're about the same age. And then
he said, I think we're the same age.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Oh, boy.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
And then when he announced his age, he told me,
he said, oh, I thought you were way older than that.
Why would you ever say that to anyone ever? I mean,
I'm not offended. But part of being in this job
is you get people. You just don't care. I'm just
amused by people that say things like that. It's just like,

(09:10):
what result do you think you get from telling anybody
at any age? Well, maybe when they're 12, but past
30 that I thought you were much older than that.
Thanks for that, a-hole. It's just cluelessness. Like I'm always asking,
what else goes with that personality trait?

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Right.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
You would say that sort of thing to a random stranger.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Right.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
You just made their life less pleasant. What is that?

Speaker 4 (09:39):
My mom taught me the best lesson when I was,
I think I was in like seventh.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Grade, I believe.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
And this one chick in my class came up to
me and told, oh, Gladys is on point today.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
She's on it.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
This one chick came up to me and told me
that another chick in our grade didn't like me. And
it hurt the hell out of my feelings. I don't
handle confrontation well ever.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
And I didn't then. And I was really upset. And
I went home and I told my mom about it.
And she goes, what kind of person would tell you that?

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Right.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Like, what kind of person would go up to you
and say, hey, Katie.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Becky doesn't like you. Like, what was that doing for her?

Speaker 2 (10:23):
That sort of person who does that.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
That's a different kind of person, and I'm glad I
don't relate.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
I thought you were much older than that.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
No, I thought, well, are you breastfeeding? You're not?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
What? This job has been like a multi-decade training course
in developing a thick skin. But I have this internal
thing that I remember. I don't really have to try
to remember anymore. I have in my brain a standard
for whose opinion I care about even a little bit.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Your judges, as they call them in the therapy world.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
How interesting.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Who are your judges in your life? Like my parents
are judges? A very small group after that. Very small.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
So that's like judges, you accept that they can play
that role for you.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
You care. You care what they think.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Intriguing.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Interesting. And yeah, there's a really, I have a really
high standard. Partly because, again, and a lot of you
can't relate to this, but you encounter so many people.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Who want to tell you not only their opinion of
maybe the world, and that's always welcome, but their opinion
of you.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
How you look.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Right. How you're wearing.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
I mean, by the thousands.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
How you sound, what you say.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
But y'all can do that in your life. Think about, now,
wait a minute. If I were to seriously consider whose
opinion should affect me, even a little bit, it would
be a select group. I've got to have known you
for a significant amount of time, and I have.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
To respect you.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Because if I don't respect somebody, what the hell do
I think? But they care what they think. So I
hope that helps folks.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
If there's one thing I could give... Two teenagers that
I'm raising is not caring what other people think that
you get when you're older. It just seems so ridiculous
to care what they think about this or that.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
But it's part of the life thing, I guess.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
I'm quote-unquote older, and sometimes I just get this wild
anxiety over nothing about something that I might have said
three days ago to somebody that really doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
It's weird. Well, I hope that fades for you a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Amen.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
And, you know, it's also worth considering, then I'll shut up,
that the sort of people who would say something hurtful
like that little girl or the old Farger or whatever,
they definitely would not make that list of people you'd respect.
So the very act of them saying something stupid like
that proves that, oh, they would never be on the list.

(13:01):
So I move on with my day.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I've been asking the women in the office how much
they weigh.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Nice!

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Good stuff, Michael.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
It's a concern for their health. Should I stop? Hey,
what's your BMI? Should I stop?

Speaker 1 (13:16):
What is your arm circumference?

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Good stuff.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Oh, no.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
No, no, no. Well, I guess that's it. Your arm circumference.
That's a good one.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Oh, boy.
