Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, David, I am going through these headlines and this
one grabbed me, especially with I had a couple of
family losses this summer.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
It's okay, man. It's the big bummer summer, but we're
getting through it. A survey of 1200 US adults found
that 49% of Americans would rather inherit nothing. than manage
a relative's possessions.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Are you kidding? Half of us? That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Just 20% would choose to inherit everything a loved one owns. Meanwhile, 51%
prefer receiving only a few meaningful items. That's how I am.
I don't need everything, but there are certain items that
if up for grabs, I would throw my name in
the ring, right? But they said that the clutter frustration
runs high. 65% of us feel frustrated by home organization weekly.

(00:52):
And 45 of us say we have completely run out
of space. So this goes back to that show we
both watched and liked. Swedish death cleaning. You have to
look this thing up, you guys. It changed my thought
process and I think so many people's thought process on
preparing for what if something happens to you.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Who has to.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Go through all of your stuff? It's all of our stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
So it's so funny you bring this up because Mrs.
Jones and I have a huge project which involved totes
and moving things and storage units while it's being worked on.
And I've said it a thousand times, like our boys
do not want to go through some of these bins
or drawers or closets full of stuff. And when you

(01:39):
think about it that way, It makes a huge difference.
And the fact that half of us are like, you
know what? No, I don't want to go through that.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
And how about this? You said half of us don't
want to. 60% of us have. already had to do this.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
And 56% of those said managing the belongings made grieving
that much harder.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
I'm not kidding you. I did this yesterday at a
text to my family. I said, this was in dad's
room for decades. And my dad passed years ago. Does
anybody want this?

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Oh my gosh, is that a pipe? No, it's like-
Is it just an Italian horn?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
It's big.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
It's a horn with some sort of like pewter- Cool.
Deer on it or something. Come to find out, it's
worth a few bucks. It's worth like between one and $ 300.
But I'm like, guys, this has been hanging in a
room for years. Does anybody want it?

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Any takers?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
My brother was so funny. That's a hard no. Amazing.
He's doing some of that cleaning.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Let me tell you, though, when you are going through
these items, it's like the guilt of getting rid of
it because it feels like I don't care about my parent.
Let's just get rid of all their stuff. But things
mean different things. Like my items are precious. It means
nothing to my family when I'm gone. They're like, get
rid of all this stuff. So watch that show if

(03:04):
you can. And also. What's the craziest thing you found
in the inherited items?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
In this study, there was a bale of cotton signed
by John Wayne. Okay.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
And there was Roman.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Artifacts from 300 AD. All right.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
That's pretty cool. Well, that's the thing. There's also hidden
collectibles in there. So you are torn.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Love to hear from you guys this morning. Hit the
mic on the iHeartRadio Talkback line and talk back.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
To the show.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Just a refresher. That survey came out that said almost 50%
of Americans would rather inherit nothing than deal with their relatives' belongings.
We asked you guys, what's the coolest thing or the
most meaningful thing you have found if you've gone through
this process, which 60% of us have. And we got
a text. They didn't sign their name, but thank you

(03:51):
for the text. I have a brother that died in 2001,
and I never knew where he was buried. My dad
passed away in 2016, and after I started going through
his things, I saw a handwritten letter from an uncle
drawing out exactly where my brother was buried. It was
the coolest thing I have ever found. Isn't that awesome?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
That's a case where it's absolutely worth it to go
through that stuff, but it is so difficult.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
She says, this is Amber. I'm from Bradenton, but I'm
your work neighbor here in Sarasota.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Hi, Amber.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Thanks for the text. We really appreciate it. Thank you
for holding, sir. You said you have a suggestion for this? Morning, David.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
This is Paul giving you a call on family possessions.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, love to hear it.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
I keep with me the one most valuable family possession
that I can hold, and that is their memory. Aww. Aww.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
That does not.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Take up space, and it goes with you everywhere. And
it's priceless.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I love it. Thank you, Paul. You're welcome, guys. See ya.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
So when you go to those huge storage units, 500
units deep.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Look at all the memories.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
This is just a good feeling I have for $ 48
a month. Wow.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Where's that place?

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Oh, is that cheap?

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yes, even the most basic unit right now is $ 200.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
A month.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Listen to me.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
I'm just back in my day. You could use your
friend's garage. David and Meredith, make them number one on
your iHeartRadio presets since they're number one in your heart.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Well, maybe in the top ten behind your family. 945.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I got to play you this real quick before we
get back to our inheritance.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Listen to this. This just came in about 10 minutes ago.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Sucking on chili dog. Outside taste of freeze. Listen to
David Meredith on WSRZ. They're talking about on the radio.
Getting free tickets to John Mellencamp's show. Boom.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Oh, a talk on.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
A talk on.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Nice job, brother. That's so good.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
So we appreciate each and every one of them. And yes,
another pair tomorrow as well. But this being National Chili
Dog Day, Skyline Chili helping us out with just.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Gift cards galore.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Now, you can get anything you want, but Chili Dog,
I think, should be mandatory today.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Maybe they even have a deal on them. I got
to check this out.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Oh, man. See, now I want a Chili Dog for breakfast.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
I have a quick text here about the inheritance stuff
we're doing.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Cool, let's do it.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Chris Reed says, the strangest thing we inherited was a
blacksmith anvil. Fortunately, we got my husband's brother to take
it when we moved to Florida.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Thank you, brother.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Imagine the cost of moving an anvil if it's like
a weight-based mover company.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Oh, my gosh. That's like a cartoon thing.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
I love it. And it's probably super sentimental and it
came down through the family.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
But you're like, where am I.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Going to put?

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Does it go with my aesthetic here?

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Going through the stuff, we realized almost half of you
out there are like, you know what?

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Keep it. All right.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
We're getting great texts about, we'll do this one more,
one more segment before game time, about going through your
family's estate.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
And all the stuff you got to go through.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
What are some cool items that really surprised you or
maybe the weirdest thing?

Speaker 1 (07:20):
This article said that among the people they polled to
find out 50% of us would rather inherit nothing than
deal with our relatives' stuff. The coolest thing found, a
bale of cotton signed by John Wayne. And then Roman
artifacts from 300 AD.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Well, some of those might be worth something, but that's,
you know, it's shocking when you go look up the
value of things. You're like, oh my gosh, this is
from the 50s. It's next to nothing.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
$ 12. Also, whatever you make on some of these items,
you're going to spend in dumpsters, shipping. It's all the drama,
all the drama.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Do I want someone in my house from Facebook Marketplace
looking at this weird Viking horn?

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Right.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Well, my father died back a few years ago. He
was my stepfather. I lost my mother when I was
very young and pictures were never in our house.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
But as I was going through this house.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
I found the only baby picture of me with my mother.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Okay, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
So were you a cute kid? Uh, no cuter than
I am today. Adorable.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Oh man, that's priceless, dude.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
It took me a minute to figure out who.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
It was, but once I did, I was like.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Overwhelmed with emotion.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Well, that's a good one. There's a reason to be
one of the 60% that's going through stuff. Thank you, Concrete.
Appreciate it. This is so weird, but I giggled at
this and I'm going to share it with you. But
I'm leaving one part of this story out.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
See if someone can figure it out. There was a
rare gecko born recently. And this gecko had two heads. Now, normally,
they don't last too long. They're sharing a brain. They
can't figure things out. This one, supposedly, getting along swimmingly.
They named this gecko, or geckos, after a duo musical group.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Okay. Name the group.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
See if you can figure out what this gecko is called.
And it's a famous duo.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Casey and JoJo.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Casey. Well, there goes that contest. No, it's not Casey
and JoJo.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Famous duo.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
So no Googling, guys.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
If you can figure it out, we're looking for the
musical duo that this gecko was named after. They said
the gecko's doing really good.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Super cute. They're figuring..

Speaker 3 (09:56):
How to get along and how to move, moving along.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Is a challenge, too.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
So since I get the heebie-jeebies when I see one gecko,
this one would just give me the double shivers.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
You want to look? You want to see the picture?

Speaker 1 (10:08):
I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Sure. All right.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
There's the double-headed gecko. It's kind of cute.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
No, it makes me feel funny inside.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
I don't like it.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
All right, so it's not Casey and JoJo, but what
musical duo did they name this two-headed gecko?

Speaker 4 (10:26):
888-599-1079.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Why don't you text us the answer for bragging rights?

Speaker 1 (10:29):
96893.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Start your message with DM. I gotta thank... What's this
guy's name? Hold on. Oh, Isaiah. Isaiah has the guess
of the morning.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
It's not wrong, but so far it's my favorite. Millie Vanillie.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Oh, man.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
That one's too good.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
One side is Millie. The other is Vanillie.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
And when they start to shed, the gecko, you can
blame it on the rain.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
Sorry.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Girl, you know it's true. That is not the name.
So stupid. Yeah, this is a pretty stupid question.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
I love it, though.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
But we have full phone lines. People want to get
in on this for bragging rights. Hey, you got one?

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Hall and Oates?

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Hall and Oates.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Okay, that's even better. I think they eat oats.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
It's not Hall and Oates, but that's a great guess.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Thank you very much, guys.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Have a great day.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
That is a good guess.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
I need the musical duo.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
The duo, Simon and Garfunkel.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Was that a guess or did you know this story?

Speaker 1 (11:38):
No, it was a guess.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
What a great guess.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Congratulations. Who is this? This is Sally Bree. Sally, congratulations.
You did it. You got bragging rights for the day. Okay,
thank you.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
See ya.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Every morning the gecko wakes up, one looks at the
other and says, hello, darkness, my old friend.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Isn't it also a bridge under troubled water or something?

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah, bridge over, but that's okay.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Oh, no. Okay, we got to bring this into like
this century. Rick and Morty would have been so much better.
I know it's not musical, peas and carrots, anything. Simon
and Garfunkel was what they went with.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
That's what they went with. Batman and Robin. That's what
I was thinking.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Tears for fears. Tears and fears.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Give them beers.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
What other name, famous duo can we come up with
for the two-headed gecko? Said no other morning show on
the radio.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Brooks and Dunn. I love that one because that sounds
like they could be lizard names. Ike and Tina, Sonny
and Cher.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
I would even go like Michael and Janet. I mean,
people will get it, right? Name any of the Jacksons.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I just..

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I'm sorry, I don't know why I don't like this
Simon and Garfunkel.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Simon and Garfunkel.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Well, when you're looking at one side and you go, hey, Garfunkel,
how you feeling this morning? That is kind of funny. Okay,
we're going to go back to the phones. We shared
a story with you, bizarre, about a two-headed gecko that
was born. Normally, they don't get along, they can't move around,
and they pass away pretty quickly. This one is doing great.

(13:23):
And they named the gecko Simon and Garfunkel. We were
pop quizzing people on the two musical duo names that
these guys should be. And it ended up Simon and Garfunkel,
but I love Milli Vanilli. I love that one.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Milli Vanilli is wonderful.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Hall and Oates. But what do you have? Good morning.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
I have a thought on the gecko.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
The two-headed gecko. Yes, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
The Righteous Brothers.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
The Righteous Brothers.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
And actually, my first thought was Simon and Garfunkel, but..

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Somebody else has the bragging rights.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Hey, well, we like your suggestion better.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Oh, thanks.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Thanks.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Have a good day. See ya. This one goes back
a bit. What about this? Bartles and James.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Oh, I love those old guys.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
And we thank you for your support. Do you have
a two-headed pet? Of course you do.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
Then come on out to Two-Headed Petco, where we have
everything both of your pet's heads need. Whether you have
a two-headed gecko, a two-headed frog, or a two-headed dog,
you'll find what you need at Two-Headed Petco, where the
two-headed pets go.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
See you soon.
