It's a pleasure to welcome Lisa cass And to the program.
Douglas County Health Department's Division Chief of Community Health, Nutrition
and Community Services about a new mental health initiative with
the County Health Department. Leah, good morning, good morning. Great
to have you here. Now, you guys kicked this off
in May, so it's going on a couple of months
(00:22):
that's been ramped up. Describe what is available now that
wasn't before and what the purpose is.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, first of all, thanks for having me on today.
So our website, Credible Mind is a free, confidential online
resource that has over hundreds of different websites or assessments
or even just other resources available locally, Like you can
(00:53):
find our local community resources there as well. So it's
really like a one stop shop for into a wellness
resources in our community.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
We know we have a mental health crisis in this country.
All you need to do is follow the news for
a day. But yeah, so this is if I understand,
you're right, this is not necessarily new resource, new services,
but better access online. Right.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, our goal was you know, we saw through our
community health assessment that we've seen a huge increase in
folks that have poor or fair mental health in our community.
And this website really is just a way to have
everything there and available at any time that someone wants
to look into something, because we know, you know, stuff
(01:41):
doesn't happen eight to four, you know, So this just
gives an easier way to find our local resources and
relying on our community, you know, nonprofits and people that
are already doing this work to do the great work
that they already do.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
So how does it work? You got to Credible Mind
or is that that's not the full side, is it?
Speaker 2 (02:04):
No? The full site is Douglas County dot crediblemind dot com.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Okay, so you go there. You have to say you're
depressed or having a crisis or whatever. Uh what will
that person be confronted with.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
On the website Once you get to the website, there's
really all different topics. So if you're just wanting to
kind of look up stuff. Let's say I have two
toddlers at home, so I don't get a lot of sleep.
So there's like healthy sleep resources on there, and you
(02:38):
can go on and read about, you know, how to
have a better work life, you know, balance, and so
there's all different resources you can look on there. And
then if you're interested, you can even dive a little
bit more to do like a self assessment of what's
your mental health profile summer twelve minus and it's long
(03:00):
summer two minutes. So there's really a wide range of
opportunities on there.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Are there are there practitioners available to talk to people
or how does that work?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
There are not practitioners available on the website. However, you
can get linked to our local resources that tell you like, hey,
we've got different behavioral health specialists within our community, here's
where to find them. If there's a special type of
practitioner that you're looking for that's here locally, we can
(03:31):
resource that. So it's really just a connection point.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Okay, Leah Cassine from Douglas County Health Department for another minute,
is this uh? Is there a cost to this to
Douglas County tax payers?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
This actually through so Credible Minds was really brought forward
through some private grant funds that we received. And but
it is free for the community.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Cool. Yeah, that's great. I uh. And of course as
a nine to eight eight suicide and crisis hotline, and
all people need people need help, and in many cases
and in this case, Leah. Right, this is not necessarily
for life threatening crises, but it could be or it
could be something more minor, like just help me through
(04:17):
the day. Right.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah, That's the great piece is that this website is
really meant to just help you learn how to be
your better best self, if you will, to learn a
little bit more and maybe have the opportunity to confront whatever,
you know, things might be happening in your life before
they become an actual problem.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Right. I'm going to access this because I got to
work with Jim Rose every morning, you know, Leah. So
and what a pleasure privilege that is. Great, Leah, thank
you appreciate the info.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Have a great day you too, Leah. Cass and Douglas
