Speaker 1 (00:00):
Monday morning. It's right here, and it's right now, and
here we go. Thank you so much for being here
with us. We call this Nebraska's Morning News. We convene
Jim Rose, Craig Evans. I am Scott Vorhees, and for
I don't know how many times now it's been, the
scoreboard is Lucy Chapman has brought in snacks, in this

(00:21):
case homemade cinnamon rolls. And once again, Lucy, all I
brought you in return is heartache and grief and a
and a hearty good morning, good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Do you get my fill of that?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Yeah, thank you for the cinnamon rolls.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Good comeback.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I'm very excited to have a cinnamon don't get home,
very excited, Lucy. Jim and I are not the arbitrators
of this story that this story deserves because we both
saw this and had the same thought. So if you
need to step in here and be the voice of ree,
and I highly encourage you to do.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
So, well, I might have the same thought.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Saturday afternoon, I'm down in Manhattan, Kansas. We were taking
the girl child back to college. She goes to k
State where she now lives in a sorority house. And
I didn't know this. But in this and I guess
this is pretty common anymore. In this sorority house, they
have army barrack style housing. I mean they all have

(01:26):
their own room with their closet and drawers and everything,
but when they go to sleep, it's army barracks. It's
just a couple of big rooms with bunk beds in there.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Coed, no, not co ed.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
It's a sorority house. This isn't This isn't the w NBA.
It's a co ed dorm. Nnis Canter isn't a member
of this sorority. So no, it's it's just all open
style bunk bed army barracks. I asked my daughter yesterday morning,
said how the sleeping go last night, sweety pie, And

(02:01):
she goes, those beds are real squeaky.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Oh, it's a it's weird.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
You know everyone, because everyone's trying to be getting really quiet.
Everyone's trying to be real quiet so everyone can sleep.
And these girls they just met each other that day,
many of them. And so I said, you'll get used
to it before too long, and to be fine. But
I'm down in Manhattan, Kansas, and I get a call
from Terry lahey.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
He was coming in here to do storm coverage, has
storm coverage, and we knew that there was a possibility
on Saturday evening of something popping up. But suddenly on
Saturday afternoon, cub boom did these things come through there?
And it didn't just catch the KFAB news team by surprise, thankfully,
these were strong storms, not severe storms. There's a delineation there,

(02:52):
but it caught people by surprise who were out there
on the Elkhorn River tubing and they had to contact
the Douglas County Sheriff's office. Waterloo Fire and Rescue was
out there and deputies received a call that someone was drowning.
They had to run out there and they were able
to get the guy back on the tube and back

(03:14):
to shore. He was taken to the hospital with critical
injuries and we hope that that guy is going to
be okay. Jim and I both saw that story and thought,
how do you drown or fear drowning on the Elkorn River.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Well, if there's a bunch of water all of a sudden,
that is a very deep channel where on the el Corn.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Yeah, when I drive over the Elkern River on Maple
and on on on Highway six. It's you can see
the dirt and the sandbars on the Elkern River. Now,
maybe there are spots where it's deeper, but and this
was over by Harrison, so maybe that's the deep part
of the Elkorn River.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I don't know when IOO in a deep channel.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Okay, it's it's not that wide and it's not that deep.
So I was kind of thinking the same thing. Just
stand up and just walk walk over to the shore.
I'm guessing. And now I don't mean to pile on
this person. I don't know this guy's story or what
the deal is. I do know how some of these

(04:19):
tubing excursions go, and I would not be surprised to
learn that alcohol was involved. Now, if that's the case,
you could drown in a bottle cap if you're just
passed out. Sure, But I don't know what the heck
this was all about. But I mean, I'm guessing there

(04:40):
were a lot of because anytime I see people out
there tubing, I see a lot of people out there.
So no one else was available to running there and
help and do something for the guy.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
But we did have this is Saturday. Apparently this was Sunday.
At least the report I read was that it happened
at one o'clock yesterday afternoon. No, the tubing, that was Saturday. Okay, Well,
then the report I read was incorrect. I thought it
was Saturday because it talked about a big rainstorm. And yeah,
we did have a very short and very heavy rainstorm,

(05:11):
you know, Saturday afternoon. We got two inches of rain
out of my house in Valley. Okay, So this was
this was puzzling to me because yeah, I mean, I
look over that river when I'm driving across it, and
there's a whole bunch of people out there. They're on
tubes and they're going down the river. It's not a
clean river, so getting going under that water means you're

(05:32):
also probably getting some dirt in your teeth. But I'm
glad the guy's okay.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
And I hope he's gonna And it's true that, you know,
and I was talking to some guys from the NRD
a couple of years ago, and it's true if there's
a big rainstorm like upriver, like let's say in Columbus
or Norfolk or whatever, and then it rolls down and
suddenly you go from four or five inches of water
to two three feet of water. Yeah, you go from
a quiet little tubing experience to whitewater rafting.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Rafter ridging a river rafting. So uh, I hope the
guy's okay. And but yeah, it seems to me that
there might have been a couple of beers involved. I
would not be surprised to learn that. Yet.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
I don't know in this instance. Have either of you
guys ever done tubing.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
I've gone down the I've gone down the Niabrera River
in a canoe and the Calamus River too fun.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Lucy's done the white I don't know. I hope not.
I I've never done it. It always kind of looks fun.
But then there are a couple of things. Number one,
sitting there for a long period of time all day
and just drinking all day in the heat and in
direct sunlight with this skin. I don't know that I

(06:43):
could do that. It looks like fun for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Grub some mud on you.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
I have done whitewater rafting. That was one of the
greatest days of my life. That was so much fun.
Yeah I could, I could. I could cover myself in
mud like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Predator I'm right here.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Do it? Kill me? Do it? Now? You know I
could do that?

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah, Like we're going in the Douglas County Sheriff's office.
There's a guy out here in a tube that won't
stop badly impersonating Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
I'm right here, do it.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Another thing about the two being experience and camping and
all that stuff here, I am definitely not opposed to it. And
I am so lucky that as a child and as
a guy who spent some of his misspent youth in
my teens in twenties, I spent plenty of time camping
outside doing all that goofy stuff. I think I'm just

(07:37):
too old for it anymore. Plus, you can't read the
news and then want to go outside. One headline today
said ticks are winning. Barely go outside and you're just
covered in ticks all the time. And then there's this
story about a woman in Kansas who says, here was
at Cheney Lake. I don't know where Cheney Lake is

(07:59):
in Kansas. I suppose I could look it up, but
she was at a campfire with her family, and all
of a sudden she was like ow ow ow, and
she looks down and there were dozens of spiders that
suddenly decided to convene on her legs and start biting her.

(08:20):
And after months of medical treatment, she needs a liver transplant. Yeah,
i'd be drinking too, but I don't think that's the
reason for the liver transplant. Horrifying stuff here. So I
think what I'm trying to say is between the pop
up thunderstorm that that almost caused a guy to drown
in a tubing experience on the Elkhorn River and the

(08:40):
fact that there's ticks, probably with lyme disease all over
the place and spiders might get you. Never go outside.
It's just it's just too dangerous. This is not helping
the obesity problem. You can you walk around your house, okay,
and then there's probably spiders in there too. Those stories
that say that you swallow spiders when you sleep, they
have which person swallows like four spiders?

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Know the average person does not swallow. For what they say, Yeah,
that means that half of them are swallowing more and
half of them are swallowing less.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
It's probably someone throwing off the curb on that one.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
But I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
I know, I woke up this morning not feeling all
that hungry. Eleven ten kfab Certified Transmission Sports PREEF. Now
here is Jim rose Case.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Got good morning everybody. The mowers are revd up and
ready to take after the rough at Indian Creek, so
the US and Eyes can play a course suited to
our skill level. Then again, looking at the numbers from
the Pinnacle Bank Classic, maybe they need to make the
course a little tougher. The winner, Frankie Harris, shot twenty
two under. He won a two hole playoff against Alistaired Doherty.
He shot twenty two under.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Two.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
We were supposed to hear from Frankie there, but that's okay.
Harris is back now. You said you wanted Roger. Well
we'll get to Roger in a minute. But frank all right,
we mean Fanky, Here we go.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Feels incredible, man, This is a feeling that I've been
chasing for a long time, and honestly, I've never felt
this way before about a tournament victory. Honestly, just the
amount of support I've gotten over the last week I've
been out here has gotten incredible and this is something I'll.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Never forget for the rest of mine. Harris's back nine
was like video Golf a fifty nine, which included a
twenty seven on the back nine. I should say his
Sunday round was like video golf of fifty nine, which
included a twenty seven on the back nine. That twenty
seven included six birdies in an eagle. Now I was
soft from the rain, and they allowed you to pick
up the ball, clean it and then place it back

(10:32):
on the ground, ensuring a good lie. But still golf
is not supposed to be about darts. Well, now we
know why Roger Craig didn't do any interviews and didn't
participate in the news conference before his induction into the
NFL Hall of Fame. He has vascular dementia.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
The changes were gradual at first, they were easy to
dismiss as a normal aging. Over time, my family noticed
it too, and ultimately led us to seek answers from
my doctor.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
That was his pre recorded edited acceptance speech they played
on the big screens. It is clear his concussions caused
this made the wonderful celebration for Roger bittersweet.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
We know more today about brain health than when I played,
and I hope sharing my story encourages people to pay
attention to their health and seek help when something doesn't
feel right.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Safety protocols have made the sports safer, but football is
still very dangerous. Meanwhile, back down at Husker football, what
we saw, what we all saw apparently was real. Our
guys were too fat, from the quarterback to the offensive line.
Big offseason weight training change coach Matt Rule says it's working.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
At the same time, while they added those six hundred
and sixty seven pounds sie hundred and seventy some pounds
of lead mass, they lost one hundred and eighty eight
pounds as a team of fat. This will be the
biggest and leanest team we've had. Great job by the
players in the offseason. They've been great in the weight room,
great and trainings table, great in that classroom. Now they've
got to take that mind and certain transfer over to
the football field.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
So look for an ozembic patch on the jerseys. Bigger
but not fatter should help baseball games. American League as
four Boston three, White Sox five, Cleveland three, Baltimore ten,
Texas five, Tampa Bay four, Seattle one, Thenactional League NAT's
seven Reds one, Mets eleven, Pittsburgh one, Arizona four. The
Dodgers two interleague play. We had extra inning games. Philadelphia

(12:23):
over Toronto seven to six in twelve innings and ten innings.
It was the Braves over the Yankees and the Brewers
over the Twins. Detroit beat San Francisco San Diego seven,
Houston two, the Cubs ten, the Royals two, and Miami
twelve the Angels three. Ty Gibbs, the grandson of Redskins
head coach and NASCAR owner Joe Gibbs, is champion of Iowa.

(12:44):
The younger Gibbs won the Iowa Corn three P fifty yesterday.
Car number fifty four beat Christopher Bell by just twenty
five hundreds of a second. Sports's News on Nebraska's news
weeathern traffic station.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Is there anything on the planet that people talk talk
about more and watch less than the w NBA.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
I'm not sure if you saw this.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Apparently over the weekend, Sophie Cunningham doctors are trying to
reattach her head to her body after she was nearly
decapitated on a play from I don't know what player
on what team. I'm vaguely aware of what team Sophie
Cunningham plays for. Just to bring everyone up to speed

(13:27):
Sophie Cunningham's on Caitlin Clark's team. Sophie Cunningham has gone
after players who have been roughly fouling, slash tackling, slash
trying to take a scalpel to Caitlin Clark. So, Sophie
Cunningham has been standing up for her teammate and getting
the people's faces. And then she had the audacity to

(13:49):
be an attractive blonde white girl to stand up for
men not playing in women's sports. This has earned her
the nickname Maga Barbie. She believes in God. I don't
know about that. I'm willing to learn. And and so
everyone what everyone hates her guts now and so she

(14:10):
they the team gets a steal. She's dribbling down in
a laughably slow pace, and some well, well it is
so another player from the other team comes up there,
and you have to appear like you're going after the
ball when you're trying to foul somebody. The ball in
this case, though, was Sophie Cunningham's nogging. She just close

(14:33):
lined this girl. Sophie gets up, gets in the face
of this player who's ejected, and I don't know what
other penalty happened against that player, but the player said
that the only reason she was even called for a
foul and maybe has to be suspended for a game,
is because she made the foul against Sophie Cunningham, who
is white. The player who fouled her is black, and

(14:56):
the black player said, well, this is just white privilege.
So now the WNBA has an issue with not being
able to define men versus women. More on that in
a second. And now you've got a player basically saying, oh, yeah,
we don't like white teammates, we don't like white opposing players.

(15:18):
White fans shouldn't watch the WNBA. What white privilege? You
took the girl's head off. It doesn't matter what skin
color everyone is in this instance, at least it shouldn't matter,
but apparently it does. So that happened over the weekend.
And then you had Jim help me out with this.

(15:38):
Two guys I've barely heard of who played in the NBA.
They're no longer in the NBA, right, they're kind of retired.
They're in their mid thirties. These are two guys who
took a look at the rules for the WNBA and
declaring for the draft, and it just talked about players.
It didn't specified gender. So these two players said, we

(15:59):
are declaring ourselves eligible for the w NBA draft. One
of these players was asked if he was transgender, and
he said only as it relates to professional basketball. That's
Royce White, thirty five years old. He is a former
NBA player, says he plans to enter the twenty twenty

(16:21):
seven WNBA draft and identifies as transgender quote for purposes
of professional basketball unquote. This is also someone who brief
who was a Minnesota Republican Senate candidate. And then the
other guy's Ennis Kanter Freedom.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Remember him, He was the guy that declared his allegiance
to the United States after being attacked as a let's
see what was it? There was there was a controversy
involving his declaration of loyalty and fidelity to the US
having come from a foreign country.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
So he changed his last name to Freedom as a Yeah,
the name sounds familiar. I don't remember him as a player.
He's a former NBA center and he's saying the same thing.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
And they're saying, look, if we're not drafted, we'll sue
for discrimination. I mean, they are pressing the issue is
the w NBA won't say whether or not men would
be allowed to play, or transgender men who identify as
women would be allowed to play. These guys are like,
all right, draft us, I got some eligibility left, I'll

(17:28):
make a few bucks and uh and let's let's do it.
The w NBA Players Association said, our members will not
be used as political pawns. Well, well, then then strengthen
your rules. Yeah, and his Canter Freedom played a long
time in the NBA. He was out there initially drafted
by the Jazz, but he played for Oklahoma City, he

(17:50):
played for Boston, he played for Portland. He was actually
a very serviceable player and actually a guy that was
impactful in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
But yeah. He was born in Switzerland to Kurdish parents.
He was raised in Turkey, moved to the US as
as a teenager and was embroiled in some sort of controversy,
political controversy, and I know what it was. This is
what it was. He at the time, China had engaged
in a massive media deal with the NBA where they

(18:24):
would stream NBA games in China, and that enhanced the
value of every franchise. I mean by tens of millions
of dollars. He came out and said, those guys are
bad guys. Those Chinese guys are bad guys. They're killing
wigers and they're putting kids in sweatshops, and we should
have no business with China. And that just unleashed a

(18:45):
barrage of shite against Enniscant Freedom. And he said, look,
this is a bad country with bad people in it
that do bad things. And I grew up in that neighborhood,
so I know. And that got everybody in the NBA
all anti Enniscatter Freedom and he was kicked off of team.
Who's cut by team signed by other teams. He's a

(19:06):
good player, but politically, because you know what happened, that
got back to the big boys in Beijing, and they said,
you either put a muzzle on that guy, or we're
gonna shut off the games in China.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
You're better off killing a guy than speaking out against China.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
No question. But they pretty much said to the NBA,
you guys either shut up Eniscatter Freedom or we're shutting
off the NBA and the People's Republic of China.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
He might be the WNBA's problem if they don't try
and figure out what a man and a woman might be.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Look, I say, draft them. You will dominate. If you're
the Minnesota Mercury or the Phoenix Linx or whatever they are,
draft the guy. You will go undefeated in the WNBA.
You will set records for margin of victory. Put these
guys on the team. If they think they're women.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
They need to take Clay Travis's offer and do the
t million dollars to play a high school boys team. Sure,
take the money.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
The best high school boys team would beat a WNBA
middle school team. Probably not a middle school I bet
they will not. A middle school team.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
All star middle schoolers from across this country fight against
these girls.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
I mean, best high school basketball team in the state
of Iowa, and I don't know which one it is
this year, but they have really good high school basketball
in Iowa. Play the w NBA team. Take the ten
million dollars. But the smart thing would be to draft
enis Canter Freedom Freedom because if you put him on
your team, man, he's knocking people over like bowling pins.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Congressman Cooter has died. Ben Jones played Cooter the Dukes
of Hazard and then the people of uh Mississippi where Alabama?

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Where do he uh.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
He was a congressman for a Georgia. He was a
US congressman. The people of Georgia looked at that guy
who ran They called him crazy Cooter on that show.
He ran the little gas station and he'd fix up
the general.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Leave for the Duke boys, and he drove the tow truck.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Yeah, he'd come out with the tow truck and guy, no.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
Not me.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
I was on the morning show after we had him on,
after he won his seat in Congress. Really yeah, HEBC
was shipping him around the country. See.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I talked to Luke Duke John Schneider, I had him
on once, But I never talked to Cooter.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
I don't think. I don't know. Maybe I did.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
But the people of Georgia looked at that guy. He'd
drive the tow truck out there and said, look, guys,
I told you you can't jump creeks just by yelling
yeha and leaning back and pulling back on the steering wheel.
This is a car. It doesn't work like that. You
got to stop doing that.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Somehow, fifteen minutes later it was ready to go. It
was totally fine.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
Yeah, Cooter was good at his job, and the people
at Georgia looked at this guy and said, you know what,
I see a lot of leadership came abilities in Couter.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
If he can fix the generally in five minutes, he
can fix Congress.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Served two terms in Congress and actually challenged Newt Gingrich
at one point, and so he was a member of Congress.
Cooter has passed away at the age of it's the
eighty four. Ben Jones, the actor known for Dukes of
Hazzard and The Dukes of Hazzard. Hey, if you're going

(22:31):
to be on one show, The Dukes of Hazzard is
a fine, fine show.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Well. Fred Grandy is the one who blazed that trail.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Yeah, Gopher from the Love Boat. Right, he was an
Iowa congressman for a long time. Right, that's right. Anyone
on TV today that you'd like to see in Congress
in Congress, hmm, you can think about that. Let's I
don't watch a lot. I watch a lot of Netflix.
I don't watch a lot of regular TV.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
That's TV too, And if it's on your TV, we'll
call it TV mostly series. Here's what's going on in
the Here's what's going on in the Zonker's Custom Woods inbox.
Scott atkfab dot com and anywhere you are in a
free iHeartRadio apps, and a message via the talkback Mike
Tom emails about the Nebraska weight training program and says,

(23:22):
I'm not falling for this BS any longer. So Tom,
here's coach rules, say, oh, we're Leena and Miner this year.
He said, I'm not falling for Well, you're either going
to see it or you're not. And then someone else
here in the talkback Mike has an assessment of how
much weight the team is lost.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
The team lost one hundred and eighty plus pounds of fat.
I thought, Ryll, it was like two hundred somehows.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
All right, So we got that going on there. And
then just to just to get a full assessment of
how kfab nation has awakened here on this Monday morning
and how they'd like to start the week, we also
got this unsold sited message in the talkback Mike.

Speaker 7 (24:04):
They're gonna take that news.

Speaker 5 (24:06):
Eric.

Speaker 7 (24:07):
I'll feed it to you like a baby with a bottle.
I got a nice and warm for you, news radio.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
This is this is how you want to start the week. Huh,
our news guy. It's a loving impersonation. The only guy
that gets to make fun of this news guy is me.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
He's either making he's either impersonating Craig Evans or Hulk Hogan.
I'm not sure that was a little cul Cogan in there.
I'll tell you what, brother, I'm gonna give you the news.

Speaker 6 (24:41):
Bank.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Okay, if that's how you guys want to start this week,
that's fine, we can do that. Lucy Chapman does Timesaber traffic,
she provides witty banter. She's the official Kfab conspiracy theorist,
and also hates kids.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Well, I'm glad you followed that up with say traffic
in instead of just saying Lucy Chapman does time.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Lucy Chapman should do time for what she wants to
do to kids. She hates kids. So it's look, I
only say that because it's true.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
I know, but people come up to me. Do you
really hate children?

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Yeah? I want to sit here hold my baby, and
you chucked her across the room.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
I did do that.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Oh, you just hate my.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Kids right after putting glitter on them.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Oh that's a whole different thing. That's my thing. I
don't like glitter. I'd like to put you on this flight, though,
Lucy where they're flying from British Columbia to Toronto, and
they eventually had to cancel the flight. Well it's Canada,
because I think this would have happened in America too,
because flight regulations say everyone has to have a seat

(25:52):
belt on otherwise we can't take off if you don't
have a seat belt on. If we crash, your life
will absolutely be saved asterisk if you're wearing a seat belt.
So this toddler refused to put on his or her
seat belt.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
The parent was like, come on.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
Timmy patanya seatbelt, Come on, come on, braid in Patanya seatbelt.
Braid and brain won't put on a seatbelt. And so
here comes the flight attendant. Okay, sweetie, you got to
put your seatbelt on.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Now I'm not praying my cap better, babe, that's an
excellent imitation. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
And the child was standing in their seat and refused
to put on the seat belt. Eventually, they all all
the adults looked at this and said, well, I guess
there's nothing we can do. We can't take off, and
by the time they taxied back to let these passengers off,
it was too late. You know, the regulations about pilots

(26:47):
if we don't take off by this time. Our pilot
will be over time by the time we land, and
the regulations are that we can't. And so they all
had to spend the night another night hit their at
the airport are around there because this kid would not.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Behave Well what did the other parents say to these parents?
I mean, surely there is at least one or two guys.
Probably they had a few words for her money.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Anyone who's had these kids, we understand every once in
a while they are a nightmare. But a good parent
tucks that kid up under their arm and takes them
out of church, the grocery store, the the airplane. Let
me just tuck this kid out of my arm and
OJ Simpson my way out of this. Now that that's

(27:34):
a reference to an old Hurts commercial, not anything else.
I'm jumping through the airport, jumping over suitcases and getting
the kid.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
Couldn't they just chucked them up to the overhead?

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Yeah it, I gotta tell you, it is rough on
the other passengers and a plane. At least, if you're
in a restaurant or you're in public, you can walk away,
but you can't go anywhere if you're on a plane.
You just have to sit there and live with the
screeching and the screaming, and it's hard. It is hard.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
There was a time, though, when my kids were little,
that I really enjoyed the sound of someone else's kid crying, like, Oh,
I don't have to do anything with this, Jim. We
have a fresh new political controversy in the state of Nebraska.
It has to do with this new party called the
America First Party. They've got a candidate that they're trying
to put on the ballot for Senate, and the Republicans

(28:29):
in Nebraska say, this is not a conservative party. It's
dressed up with conservative talking points, cracking down on illegal immigration,
defending the Second Amendment, opposing abortion. However, according to the
lawsuit says, the facade crumbles under the slightest scrutiny. They

(28:51):
look at the guy who's the sponsor for the America
First Party and say, this guy, who is the Attorney
General of the Omaha Tribe, John Cartier, is a well
known leftist political operative with deeply held leftist political beliefs.
This is not the establishment of a legitimate political party.
It is political sabotage, a calculated effort to maliciously confuse

(29:15):
voters by hijacking a nationally recognized brand inextricably linked to
President Donald J. Trump and the conservative movement he leads,
calling it the America First Party. So they're trying to
get his Senate candidate on the ballot, and they're saying
they're just going to confuse everyone. Now, why the lawsuit

(29:38):
because Nebraska's Secretary of State, Bob Evnen is decided not
to intervene with the creation of the party. Now here's
why the Republicans are mad. They say, Secretary of State
Bob Evnen, first of all, on whatever legal ground, should
deny this group on there at this point in the

(29:59):
political process. But there are also accusations that Secretary of
State Bob Ednan, who you might remember, was primaried out
this past spring by someone who is more along the
lines of the current leadership of the Republican Party in Nebraska.
There's a whole fight between your long standing country club

(30:23):
type Republicans and your new trumpy, burnt all to the
ground Republicans. And they're probably going to cause a lot
of Democrats to get elected, to be honest, but Davy,
so they say Bob Evnon is just doing sour grapes.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
I don't believe that. I've known Bob Evnon for years.
He's a man of great integrity, and that's not his way.
He's not a vindictive guy. He's a very intelligent, highly educated, articulate, passionate,
good American. He ably served the office for eight years,
and this is not the way he wants to go out.

(30:57):
He's not this way. I don't know. We've never really
had deeply seated discussions about Donald Trump or the MAGA approach,
and I personally think MAGA has been hijacked as a
bad brand. I think the MAGA brand as it is
is fine. Make America great again. Look him up, look
at what they believe. It's not crazy, it's actually quite constitutional.
But I don't believe it. I don't think that's it

(31:18):
at all. They can accuse Bob Evnon of anything they want,
but this is I would be if there was real,
hard evidence to support this, I would be stunned. Well,
f Nin says he wrote he agrees that this party
was likely created to cause confusion, but legally, he says,
there's nothing I can do. There is no other party
in Nebraska that has the words America and or first

(31:41):
in its name.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
So yeah, it's it's a kin. It's in the sidecar
of some of these Republican things. But he said, I
can't stop it. The America First Party and Democratic Party
chair Jane Kleb has her own problem because she says, well,
the Republicans are doing the same thing. They've had Pete

(32:04):
Ricketts and all of his people behind the scenes trying
to establish the Nebraska Working People Party, and it's the
same argument. It makes it sound like more of a
Democrat liberal labor union party, but instead it's Pete Ricketts.
And Janekleb says there's only one reason to launch a
new party this late, to divide the vote and create

(32:25):
chaos voters see through spoiler games funded by special interest.
It's a fake, is essentially what she's saying. So the
Republican Party has sued for theirs. I don't know if
the Democrats are going to sue for theirs. The Nebraska
Secretary of State's office, that's still Bob Ebden, he was
primaried out but he still holds the office, said these

(32:46):
parties have met the petition signature threshold, and now you've
got a judge who apparently is going to take a look,
and there's a meeting later this afternoon about it. Can't
we just get to the e lie and put the
candidates up there. You got your Democrat, you got your Republican,
you got your Libertarian, and whatever the Legalized Marijuana Now

(33:07):
party is.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Well, the Weed Party could get two and a half percent.
You know, you can't dismiss these people. And in a
three way race, which is what it is now, we
presume Bret Linsterm was smiling like a chesshire cat in
here on Friday. He's got his signatures. He's going to
get on the ballot if he wants, if he wants.
Which strikes me is why would you go to the
trouble and the expense if you didn't want to see

(33:29):
this this baby all the way to birth. I don't know,
but every little percentage point counts. And if the weed
guy gets two percent, that's real. If this new party
gets another two percent, that's real stuff. Now, the Libertarians
got four percent against Pilling four years ago, so I
mean those are the hard right types they got. I

(33:50):
mean they're one of these people that say eliminate every
single federal agency but defense. And they got four percent here.
So don't dismiss these people, or if you do, please
do with caution. I have to tell you some of
the polls that are coming out, I can't believe in
my heart of hearts Scott that that crazy lunatic up

(34:10):
in Wisconsin has a seventeen point lead in the Democrat
primary for governor of Wisconsin, which people hate wing state,
They hate Thanksgiving in Wisconsin, and they side with her
to abolish This is not New York at California. This
is Wisconsin, which has a lot of Republican representatives. And

(34:31):
yet this woman, this Francesca Hong, who says, eliminate Thanksgiving charge,
seventy percent state income tax, government grocery stores, healthcare for everyone, illegals,
get driver's licenses, you name it, every just check off
the DSA website and that's her. She's got a seventeen

(34:52):
point lead heading into tomorrow's primary. And down in Texas,
you mean James Tallerrico, who believes that God is binary
in Texas has a four point lead over Ken Paxton
and the race for the US Senate down there yet
tofu tall Rico doesn't like steak in.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Texas, he says, he says God's a woman, Yeah, he
hates steaks and he wants an open border. Something that
you said right after the primary in Michigan, which had
a lot of these same conversational points. You said something
afterwards and I said, I don't know. Well, it turns out, Jim,
and I'm going to tell you next you were right,
that's coming up. Now, boy, you're stick around for this.

(35:30):
Last week in Michigan, this Abdul el Sayed won the
primary for the Senate as a Democrat up there as
a Democrat socialist up there over a more traditional Democratic candidate.
And Jim Rose said, now you watch all these these
DSA candidates, they're going to start racing towards center. But
head of the general election in November, I said, I

(35:51):
don't think so. I think that that side and a
growing number of people who would traditionally usually formerly be
in the middle, they are liking a lot of these
DSA policies. They like what they hear. Yeah, let's abolish
this and let's tax them and let's open this and
I don't want to pay for any of this. I
think they like it, and you so you watch. Well,

(36:12):
we didn't have to wait until October. This happened over
the weekend, the Democratic Socialist in the Democratic or in
the Senate race in Michigan is now moving to the center.
Even former President Barack Obama is involved here, saying, hey,
we got to bring people together, one team Michigan. Hey,

(36:34):
we're all together for a common cause. Look, we had
a spirited primary, but we got to be someone for
every Michigander. And they are racing towards the middle, hoping
you forget about some of those potentially unsavory political positions
they held as recently as last Monday.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Well, this is what they do. They have so little
regard for the electorate. I mean, they have such a
complete contempt for the electorate. They think that we're stupid
enough to forget all that. Now, thankfully, the news media
will be promoting commercials from Mike Rodgers, the Republican up
there for the next ninety days, reminding people of all
of this stuff and saying he can say anything he

(37:13):
wants now because he's running for office. But when he
wasn't running for office, he said this, which is what
he believes. And it's the same thing with that lunatic
in Wisconsin, Francesca Hong and all of these others Now,
what we don't know is what Denise Powell thinks. Because
Denise Powell won't do interviews and nobody has vetted her.
She's running against bricker Harding. Now Briker continues to ask

(37:35):
the question, you know, what does she believe? We don't know.
She's never run for office before, she's never voted for
anything or against anything legislatively before. So what is does
she believe in this stuff? And if the answer is no,
she needs to come out and do an interview on
KFAB where they'll ask as.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
Long as she feels like she has a lead in
that second district congressional races.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Play ropado. He will not say anything. I can't blame
her for that, But then we get what we pay for. Now,
if you don't like what happens in Congress and how
she gravitates towards the crazies in the United States House
of Representatives, we got nobody to blame but ourselves because
nobody has said hold on, Denise. But before we go further,
what do you think about this? What do you think

(38:16):
about eliminating the US Senate? What do you believe about
eliminating the Supreme Court? Do you believe in Medicare for all.
I hope you believe in urban borders. Answers your questions.
I believe in public ownership of grocery store. Well, she's
not here. You know she's not here. You're talking to
I want. I thought, maybe you do an imitation of her, dude.

Speaker 8 (38:33):
The former Dodgers owner is backing a new professional show
jumping league launching next year. The Premier Jumping League plans
to establish sixteen teams, and Court will personally guarantee three
hundred million dollars in prize money over the first three seasons.
Cortney's one hope, Bloomberg Radio is.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Horse jumping where horses run around the obstacle courus and
jump over stuff. Or is horse jumping? We're people are
jumping over horses. Don't know these things? Good morning now.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
I don't think he's talking about three day eventing, which
is what you're speaking about, which is horses going over
really little jumps and little swimming pools and things of
that nature that will not ever be a national sport.
Trust me, I grew up with it. My brother was
a hunter jumper, my mom was a jassage trainer. That
will always be a niche sport.

Speaker 1 (39:28):
It explains the tights and the riding crop, yeah, that
I wear every day. There's Jim Rose, There's Lucy Chapman,
Greg Evans, there, Courtney Donahoe too. I'm Scott Vorhees. This
is Nebraska's morning news on news radio eleven ten KFAB.
I know that right now some of you are furiously
typing up emails to Scott atkfab dot com and the

(39:49):
Zuker's custom woods inbox, going hey, you morons, forgot the keyword.
I want to win one thousand dollars. Whoa, whoa, whoa,
whoa woe. We don't do this every single day. Every week.
It comes and goes, and right now it is gone.
But I will give you a chance to win all

(40:13):

Speaker 3 (41:39):
That a cool deal?

Speaker 1 (41:40):
Very cool trip. I want to go, Hope you. I
want to see Laney Wilson. She was just up at Sturgis.
David Lee Roth was up at Sturgis this weekend. Did
have a walker, David Lee Roth. It's not looking good? Uh?

Speaker 3 (41:53):
He is.

Speaker 1 (41:54):
He is an absolute dumpster fire of a train wreck
right now. He canceled his but said, I'm still gonna
go to Sturgis, right, and so I think some people
enjoyed it just because they went in there with the
lowest expectations of all time. The band sounds great. The
guitarist is playing Van Halen songs and sounds like Eddie

(42:14):
and the band and the backup singers, they all sound great.
David Lee Roth doesn't. He just kind of walks around
the stage and mumbles a little bit. Diamond Dave doesn't.
He lost a little bit on his fastball, but you know,
he didn't even pick up the ball. He's a legend,
and he's in the discussion for greatest front man any
rock band in the rock band era.

Speaker 3 (42:36):
He's in the discussion. Yeah, I'd say that's right. I'd
put him in the top ten.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Anyone want to say who's better and David Lee Roth
as a front man, Yeah, Sammy Hagar, I don't think.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
About let me think about that. That's that's that's a
that's a that's a good brain exercise right there. That's good.
That's good mental floss. Right there.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
Guy put on tights acup and we all grew up
watching that and going, yeah, that's back when men were
men and women. I don't know what all this transgender
stuff like. Did you enjoy that Culture Club album?

Speaker 3 (43:11):
You bet?

Speaker 1 (43:11):
I had that album. It was great, right, it was.
I don't know, a little weird.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
We had some great acts in the eighties. Yeah, sure
we did.

Speaker 1 (43:19):
I got this email from Brian so Yeah, David Lee
Roth is part of the best front man's of any
rock band. But these are my off the cuff nominations.
Number one, Robert Plant, number two, Roger Daltrey, number three,
Freddie Mercury. Yeah, I about Nick Jackers and he's.

Speaker 3 (43:35):
The number four Bond Scott.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Yeah, I absolutely Springsteen, well Springsteen, certainly it is the
East Street band. But I'm thinking about, you know, he's
a solo artist. If the name of the guy is
in the band, I'm throwing it out. It wasn't called
David Lee Roth and Van Halen, Van Halen.

Speaker 2 (43:56):
Bret Michaels.

Speaker 3 (43:58):
Not better than the rest of them, those guys. I
like him, how do you? Oh yeah, I'd like him,
But how do you not make Freddie Mercury the greatest
front man in the history of rock and roll? I
mean the performance alone separated them. I'm not willing to
make that argument. I might put Freddie number one, maybe
David Lee Roth number two. Okay, they were just so ridiculous.

(44:22):
It was such a fun flamboyant. Oh yeah, Freddie Mercury
flamboyance was in a class by It's such fun showmanship.

Speaker 1 (44:29):
And producer Peyton of the Kfab comment Line and Chris
Baker Show, he's not going to be here all week.
He went and got married on Saturday. Married, Yes, married,
Peyton is a married man. Congratulations to Peyton and Carly
and their families. I am so off. I feel awful.

(44:53):
I wasn't able to be there, but we took our
daughter back to college and got her all moved in
on Saturday, and I couldn't be two places at once.
Uh daughter wins?

Speaker 3 (45:01):
Is she in trouble? Who in trouble. Don't you dare?
Don't you The first question we always ask, I have I.

Speaker 1 (45:09):
Have half of mine? Not just to hit the button
that deletes the last twenty seconds audio, but to rip
this machine from the wall and beat you with it.
What is the matter with you?

Speaker 3 (45:19):
Scott? I always ask that when people say we're getting
married or we got married. I asked Gene Stothard the
same thing when she just got married. Are you in trouble?
You don't get invited to a lot of weddings, do you?
I officiate weddings. I officiate more weddings than I attend.
Take that atheists. Yeah, Uh, you know, people you know

(45:40):
we're in the year twenty twenty six. They want to
experiment differently. So uh, I had to ask because that's
what people want to know. Just miserable I hear these
young people getting married, So soon are they going to
start having a bunch of kids? Because we you know,
we're down to less than two kids per couple in
this country, and that's killing off the future workforce. So

(46:00):
we're gonna need at least four or five out of him.

Speaker 1 (46:03):
The only reason I'm still letting you speak because it's funny,
because funny and entertaining. I uh, and people are asking
the same question. I'm trying to find this this email
that I just heard that ad again and I wanted
to get to it. It's it's some of this give
and take here between you know, the the Pete Ricketts ads.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
He's a fake you know.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
That's and then on the other side, it's not a
you know, I'm Dan Osborne and I approved this message.
It's a different group that's coming in there and and
hating hitting Pete Ricketts, and it's stuff like Pete Ricketts
voted to raise his own taxes.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
No, voted to voted to allow his own net worth
to grow by not voting for a bill that would
keep insider trading from happening among members of Congress, which
is actually fundamentally not true. But you know, look, ads
are ads.

Speaker 1 (46:56):
I'm oh here it is no, it's not it anyway,
there was an email that said, I don't understand this,
this shot against Pete Rickis. We were making fun the
other day of Pete Riggotts voted to raise his own
taxes or voted, sorry, voted to lower his own taxes.
That's and like, yeah, Riggets voted to lower everyone's taxes.

(47:20):
It's not like he introduced a resolution to lower Pete
Ricketts taxes.

Speaker 3 (47:25):
Yeah, this is a Pete Ricketts bill. Only I get
to have my taxes lowered. And the other ad that's
very intellectually dishonest is when they say Pete ricketts net
worth has gone up thirty percent since he was elected
to a member of Carry goes here we go hang on.

Speaker 1 (47:40):
Brian emails and says, I heard your comments about the
Osborne political ads. I have another one that bugs me.
One of the ads says Pete Rickett's wealth is increased
by thirty percent while in office. As a comparison, during
the time he's been in office, the S and P
of five hundred is increased by over sixty percent or
up to seventy percent, depending on the exact dates you select.

(48:01):
My guess is most seen that ad do not realize
his increase in wealth was likely very modest. Yes so,
but this is some of the attack that's out there.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
He's been in office since twice, the United States Senator
since twenty twenty two. Early twenty twenty three, Ben Sas
left and Jim Hillen appointed after he was reelected, appointed
Pete to the seat. Then Pete had to run for
reelection in twenty twenty four, and he's running for reelection
now or election in our reelection. But yes, if you
look at your four to oh one K plan, or

(48:33):
you look at your IRA, or you look at any
of your stock, if you have any stock at all,
if you're in the market at all, your numbers are
up probably higher than thirty percent since twenty twenty two.
I mean, I think most index funds were up over
twenty four percent just last year alone. So that's intellectually dishonest.
All you have to do is stand there on the

(48:55):
street corner if you have some investment in the market
and your net worth went up. So but this is
a class envy deal. This is about he's an evil billionaire.
He't he was born on third base and thinks he
hit a triple. He he's never done anything in his life.
These accusations are just very cliche when you want a
class envy angle in the election. He is a wealthy man.

(49:19):
His family is very wealthy. They own the Chicago Cubs,
they founded amer Trade. But what they don't say is
that Joe and Marlene, his mom and dad, they got
married very young and they lived in a one bedroom
apartment when they got out of college at Creyton University,
and he started Ameritrade, And nobody was standing there with
a gigantic safety net in case this thing didn't work out.

Speaker 1 (49:42):
Nor did they say that TD Ameritrade employees almost ten
thousand employees, not to mention if they've done well for
you and your stock portfolio have and now, especially in
the last couple of years, it's kind of hard not to.
But then they've they've made a lot of people, you know, well,
nobody want moneying there.

Speaker 3 (50:02):
Nobody was standing there when he said I'm going to
start a business where you can make your own stock trades.
I think you're smart enough to know how to buy
a stock without having to pay a broker fee. And
nobody was standing there saying, hey, you know, Joe, if
this doesn't work out, don't worry. I'll back you up.
Nobody ever gets credit in this country for wealth and success.
They say, oh, well you didn't do that. That's the

(50:23):
old Barack Obama line. Well you didn't do that yourself. Yeah, yeah,
Joe Ricketts did do that by himself. Mister President, You
know you weren't standing there. You were passing out leaflets
at some grade school when he was trying to build
a company that now is you say, Scott employs thousands
of people, So you can be envious of success all
you want, but that's part of the social dialogue of

(50:45):
those who have never done anything and they didn't even
have the I mean, they could have been a little
better and at least put some of their accusations to music,
as the Pete Ricketts campaign has done. I want to
hear a catchy bluegrass song and all these political ads
from now until the end of time. And I think
it'd be funny for Dan Osborne just to come out

(51:07):
and go, hey, you're right, I am a Democrat. They're like, ah, shoot,
we're gonna play that and pull that thing off now,
p weigh that commercial for another couple of months. Now,
what have we got, Well, he's admitted I'm gonna I'm
gonna caucus with the Democrats if I win. So what
else do you.

Speaker 1 (51:20):
Need to know? I, well, there's a lot I need
to know. I'm Scott Vorhees. I read emails sent to
me for Lucy. Emails like this coming from Linda via
the Zonker's custom Woods inbox and says ask Lucy if
there's at least one accident on six point eighty northbound
every day between Pacific and Dodge. It's so hard to
stay in those narrow lanes with all the ruts. It

(51:44):
is dangerous in that stretch right now, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
Yeah, you don't want to drive on that, but everybody does.

Speaker 3 (51:50):
You have to.

Speaker 2 (51:51):
I understand there is a lot of people that have to.
But you get a truck in that inside right lane,
forget about it. You're going, you're going well.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
And then a lot of these vehicles have that, you know,
the the tool that allows your vehicle to try and
stay in the lane. And if the vehicle feels like, hey,
you're going over the center line, then it starts to pull.
So now you're trying to hug the left side of
that lane so you don't scrape your vehicle against the

(52:20):
concrete pillar over here or the concrete barrier. And then
your vehicle is like, hey, you're starting to cross the line.
Let's pull it back a little bit. Now you got
a big truck next to you, You got your vehicle
trying to crash into the barrier. I just I don't
I just walk. I just walk everywhere now, just drag.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
Your little car along behind you.

Speaker 3 (52:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (52:42):
That at least they did one thing right. They finally
closed that on rail, the six eighty northbound. Oh yeah, yeah,
it had opened it for a while, which they should
never have done.

Speaker 1 (52:51):
I also want to reopen that. Is there a six
eighty northbound. It used to be if there was a
lot of traffic on six eighty, you could take the
center Street and then just blow past, oh yeah, four
hundred yards of traffic and then get back on six eighty.

Speaker 3 (53:07):
