Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott vordiez welcoming back to the program, someone who has
been elevating the culture here for, among other things, the
Fox News television show Gutfeld. I'm sure people have.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Been saying this all day, but Jasmine Crockett sounds like
the name of a daytime stripper in Arkansas.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
So it's a Jamie Lisso who's coming to Omaha next
month with his new comedy tour called Better Off Dad. Well, now,
welcome back to the program, Jamie Lisso here on eleven

(00:40):
ten kfab. Hello Jamie with sub Scott.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
You guys are good with the clips. Man. I think
I said that twenty four hours ago.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Yes, I know. I Well, here's what I like. Here's
what I like about the Jasmine Crockett clip. It's not
the shot at Jasmine Crockett, which is so easy to do,
it's the phrase a daytime stripper in our Arkansas.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Actually, my favorite part of that joke was the intro
into it, when I said people have been saying it
all day. I love doing stuff like that, the greg
I love doing I love doing the mistrack. And then
I think I said that last night. But she's also
got that new show coming out with joy Bayheart called
Crockett and Tubs and that one not as nice. You're

(01:24):
trying to give me a compliment of not making fun
of someone.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
And you see, it's just too easy. But I mean,
at some point, do you guys sit around there for
Gutfeld and go all right? AOC said this today, ilhan
Omar and Rashid to leave us and said that, and
then Jasmine Crocus and You're like, every every night. We
could do this every single night. It's just too easy.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Oh, if Kamala dropped out of politics, I would miss
her like I miss like I missed those jokes. I meant, well,
you know we've Something we talked about last night, was
Tamala has that new By the way, I apologize sometimes
I say her name differently, I never know if it's
Kamala or Kamala, and like knowing her, maybe she's been
saying it wrong.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
It's possible.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
But she got that new book coming out. I have
this idea for her that I did not mention on
the air last night, but I think she should read
the audiobook but get progressively drunker as she goes, because
I would listen.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
I think that the book is called this is the
book that we said we were going to write when
we said we are going to write this book by Kamala.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Harris some thing like that, exactly right.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
It's it's been an interesting week obviously, week and a half,
almost two weeks now for you guys on Gutfeld. And
I've said that obviously in the wake of what happened
with Charlie kirk uh. There's it's just it's a turning
point pun intended for America. But I also think that
a great emotion is being able to laugh through tears.

(03:00):
And I think a lot of people have been relying
on you and Tyros and Kat and Guttfeld obviously on
this program because the sentiment is still there, the emotion.
We're all feeling this together. But you guys have also
provided us some things to laugh at. So on behalf
of America. Thank you very much for that.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Jamie, Oh, it's my pleasure. So it's also my only skill, yes,
oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
And then on the other side of that coin, you've
got Jimmy Kimmel. Give me all your thoughts on Jimmy Kimmel,
who's back apparently tonight.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I have so many thoughts. First of all, can I say,
really quick. Charlie Kirk was a very funny guy. Yeah,
if you go. One thing about Charlie Kirk that that
I love bringing up to people is sometimes when you
know a comedian's hosting the Oscars, they go back and
dig through all their old tweets and videos and they
find bad stuff about that person and they, oh, my god,
I found this place where he said this. I found

(03:52):
this place where he said this. Charlie Kirk is the
opposite where if you think he's you've heard he's a
racist from some sort of legacy media out let. The
deeper you dig, the more goals you find. You don't
find dirt, you find gold. The deeper and deeper you
go with Charlie. And that was it. I guess they
call it the memorial. That was like an incredible event

(04:13):
that My only criticism of memorial was I feel like
it was too many good speakers. Right, he got four hours,
he got too many good speakers. I don't know if
I don't know if anybody in there is my age,
but I just turned forty ten years ago, and my
question is when do we pee? When do we pee
during that? And I was just thinking it shouldn't they
have put maybe just thrown a Joe Biden up just

(04:33):
so we got a minute to get a hot dog,
you know, give us a break.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah. I wondered that, like, all right, we're gonna have
And it ended up being about five and a half hours,
almost about five hours fifteen minutes of the memorial. And
so I was just thinking about and Jamie we've both
been there with a number of things, like all right,
we have this really special event coming and we want
you to be a part of it. Like, oh, okay, great,

(04:57):
when do you want me to go on? And they're like,
uh during the first forty five minutes when everyone's still
filing in and wondering where the person it is, like
but but no one's gonna care, Like, no, no, this
is super important. You got to do this.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I've done many of those. I've been the first opener
where they have me open up the place and set
all the tables. I mean, I have gone in early.
But to tie this into Jimmy Kimmel, which he originally
asked me that memorial, it was like that place seats
like eighty eighty thousand, it might even seat seventy. Yeah,
but not only was it wall to wall like almost

(05:33):
one hundred thousand. I guess there might have been like
another one hundred outside, like two hundred thousand people, And
to put that in perspective, that's one and a half
Jimmy Kimmel audiences. Yeah, rightly, that's what that is. And
I feel like, you know, there's even more news that
came out today. So he was off the air suspended indefinitely,
which I'll be honest with you, I'm fifty and I

(05:55):
still don't know what that means indefinitely. I did google it.
I was like, is that forever? Does I mean we
find out later? I thought that was it, but I
guess it means, you know, a temporary suspension. And so
they said they put them back on the air. But
did you hear today that some of the affiliates are not.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Having Yeah, Sinclair Broadcast Group, they're not airing it. And
they're the largest owner of ABC stations. Now I don't
a lot of them are, you know, more locally owned.
I don't know how many stations that is. I don't
care to look. I just said, like, all right, so
if you don't like Jimmy Kimmel, he's back on TV tonight.
What you do if you. If you don't like that,
is you don't watch it. That's easy enough, right, I don't.

(06:32):
I don't care that Kimmel's back on, do you.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
No. I'm glad I actually have like a couple of friends.
I'm one of those people that I've never severed a
friendship based on political views. Never once I had friendship
severed with me for being on Fox News. But I
have never once been like, oh, we believe different things,
can't we can't be buddies. And I get a couple
buddies that write for Kimmel and they have families, and

(06:56):
I was hoping he'd come back on the air, And
I'll be honest with you, man, maybe this sounds like,
you know, without the you know, Gunfold has been crushing
in the ratings for like a few years. Without the generals,
you know, the gold trotters have nobody to dounk on.
You know what I mean. We need some competition out there,
and I'm kind of glad. I was kind of I
didn't even know if we really needed the SEC involvement.

(07:18):
I mean, employers can do what they want to employees.
But I'm sure they had a talk with him, and
whatever he said is okay with them, and I say,
I say, welcome back. I do wish the comedy was
the priority for all those shows. That would be my wish.
But they can do whatever they want. But I missed
the day of Carson who famously said, like, you don't
need to know who I'm voting for this position. That

(07:40):
has nothing to do with this position.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
I have, yeah, well, as someone who once spent a
night and still have the jersey playing for the Washington Generals,
I resent the comment there if anything, if we're going
to go, if we're going to go basketball terms Jimmy
Kimmel as karl Malone and Blackface, which he did on
the air one time. Of course, if you did that
you would be done. But you know, be that as

(08:02):
it may. You're right about Charlie Kirk, very very funny guy,
and I love that his people have gone back to
the guys from South Park and said no, no, no,
you have to continue to platform and air the Cartman
as Charliekirk episode. Charlie loved it. He was so honored
to be lampooned on South Park, which brings us to

(08:22):
a great comedy show. Better off, Dad, you will be
here at the funny Bone next month October twenty fourth
and twenty fifth. Brand new Funnybone location still online at
Omaha dot Funnybone dot com and Jamie Lisso dot com.
To get your tickets, Tell me about the Better Off
Dad Comedy special.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah so, and I'll take you about so. Basically the
show is, you know, I was like the divorced guy
from Alaska for many years and then I did get married.
I think maybe right before we talk last time, I've
gotten married. So the new hour is kind of about
you know that part of my life. The show is
not political. I would a five percent maybe less in political.
So it's all about laughs. Everyone's welcome, no one's can

(09:03):
feel ostracized, no one's going to feel insulted. I'm like Johnny,
I take Johnny Carson's advice, and I will say I
think I mentioned this last time, but Omaha has been
a stop on my tour since the beginning of my
stand up days. It was one of the first clubs
that I worked with Colleen over the Funny Bone, and
to be going back there is always a delight. And
I got a message. I get a message every morning

(09:24):
of like what tour dates are selling really well? Like
it'll be like a list of Omaha, Nebraska showed up
on my low ticket alert this morning, which made me
very excited for October twenty four and twenty five. So
that's a good thing.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Pretty well, Yeah, that's awesome. And Colleen's been there the
entire time and just celebrated her thirty third birthday the
other day, so we love Colleen. It is not that here,
and I have to give you credit here for not
just the title of the tour, but you've also done
the John Cusack shades thing from the movie poster Better

(09:58):
Off Dad for the Better Off Dad Tour. I introduced
my daughter to that movie and the local drive in
here in Omaha just showed it recently and I told
my daughter about it, and she's like, do other people
like that movie? Is it just one of those things
that you like, Like it's one of the best movies
of all time. So credit for the takeoff on Better

(10:20):
Off Dad for the Better Off Dad Tour featuring of
course Jamie Lisso, Jamie as usual, I could talk to
you for hours. I don't have that luxury. I'll let
you go and we'll see you next month here in
Omaha at the Funny bone.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Thank you so much. I appreciate gatting that relate on
the poster. My wife is younger than me. She has
no idea who I'm trying to look like. She's never
heard of that movie. She didn't. After I did the
Crockett and Tubs line last night, she goes, what does
that mean? Yeah, I don't even worry about it. She's
Taylor Swift and after.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
That's like it. That's an awesome humble brag. By the way,
like a my wife she's so young, she barely knows
these references as she's just young and hot. A super
awesome humble brag, Jamie, It's a pleasure as always.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Man, thanks appreciate it. Man, I didn't even mean it
like that, but.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yeah, I'm sure it does. All right, we'll see you
next month.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
