States ranking by US News and World Report. It ranks
all the states and it does the ranking on how
the states serve their citizens in a wide range of
things healthcare, education, infrastructure, crime, natural environment, and beauty. Florida

The definite worst thing about living in Florida is sober. Basically,
from October to April May, you can't go out to
dinner because you have to wait for two hours and
you can't get down the aisle at the grocery store
because they're all catching up and talking about their ailments
from last year.

Well, and then they think when they come here that
you need them. So they have this a little bit
of entitlement like money to you.

Well, what I want to do is going to the
hostess at any given restaurant and say, look, you should
give preferential treating treatment and beat the ones of us
that live here and pay Jack's yr year round.

learned this last year by accident. What slip a little cash? Oh,
that always works. That's not gonna The snowbirds aren't doing that,

in a big hurry, and they don't want to wait.

I just moved from Boston.

I feel I've landed in paradise. However, that's my garage
door open for about an hour and a half and
the next day I lift up a suitcase to unpack
it and there's a four foot snake coraled under the cirt.

in Florida. That's my gripe.

just there earlier this month. I was only there for
like five days, and so I was basically in wilderness.
I wasn't like, you know, I interacted with some people, obviously,

There's a number of reasons. But we lived in Cedar City, Utah,
which is the southern part.

Yeah, I drove straight through there because I went to
Zion and Bryce Canyon.

Yep, you got like five national parks within a few
miles from Cedar City. So there's that, there is the
small town feel. There's the people, and the people are
absolutely awesome.

What's the weather like because it was just like Florida
when I was there. Obviously it's kind of desert ish.
What's it like in the winter there? And how long
is the winter?
Speaker 5 (07:32):
So it always snowed before Halloween? And you get the
four seasons, which was fantastic because you actually feel them.
You can have a garden in the summer without it
burning up. I mean, it's just, I mean beautiful.

It's interesting because you love Florida, I think it should
be in the top five, and you loved Utah and
can understand why it's number one, and they're completely different places,
which is kind of fascinating.

Well, that's because if you want to be by the water,
then obviously you're around Florida. And if you don't want
to be cold, if you like the four seasons and nature,
in my mind, you got to be in Utah.

pretty unique criminals.

the crimes committed in Florida or committed by.

Yeah, I think us coming in at eighth is probably
a little high. Really, yeah, I would actually rank up
the lower Now, why is that? If you're talking about
just liveability? Home on prices are through the roof, and
you also got the insurance rates. Auto thoughts of living
in cities like metropolitan areas like Miami are outraged.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
You know, it's interesting though, insurance. I'm going through this
right now, my homeowner's insurance. Actually, I've got a couple
of options and it's gone down. There's more companies in
so depending on when you closed on your house and
your homeowner's insurance renews, it's probably going to be lower.
I know mine has gone down the last two years,
and if I get all my ducks in a row,
it'll go down significantly again this year for me. So

that's a help. If the property tax thing passes, that's
going to be a big help in terms of the
other costs. We were just talking yesterday, what was it,
rent is down across the state. Yes, it is because
they're overbuilding exactly.

Well, yeah, they're well over built.

Yeah, because there's a lot of vacancies now obviously supplying demand,
price comes down. I hear what you're saying. But then
you have to factor in some of the good like
where we live, the water recreation crime is relatively low
in Florida compared to a lot of other states. Does
that make sense, Yeah, But.

I think that's also the reason why Utah, South Dakota
and some other states like that are going to rank
a lot higher, because they have just as much to do,
if not more. They have comparable crime rates, But insurance
rates on home owners are going to be a lot
lower because they don't have to deal with your weather
risk like we do down here. Then you also have
the utility like we run our ac down here year

round because it's on Droplo ninety until it's just about January.

That's true. I mean, you're right about that. And I
guess it comes down to whether you want to experience
the seasons or not. I like a change your pace.
I don't want to have to deal with snow for
two or three months out of the year.

I grew up in the seasons, and I'll tell you
what winter seemed like. It was most of the year,
so it would get darkerly, the trees were bare. I mean,
when the snow is falling, it's beautiful, but then it
becomes a mess.

of the state a few times, and I'll tell you

can understand why it's number one, and they're completely different places,
which is kind of fascinating.
Speaker 5 (07:54):
Well, that's because if you want to be by the water,
then obviously you're around Florida. And if you don't want
to be cold, if you like the four seasons and nature,
in my mind, you got to be in Utah.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
I hear you on that. So what I love.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
I love living in Florida and I'll visit the seasons.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
I mean, the older I get, and that's why I
live here. As I got tired of the cold. Yeah,
I definitely missed the four seasons.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Yeah, they are beautiful.

So the Best States list is out, Utah is number one.
He says he can understand why Florida's eight. He thinks
it should be a little higher. What about you some
of the experiences you had? Where would you put Florida
on this list? I mean, I feel like we should
be top five always, But now you said we do
have some issues, Sarah, what was this?
Speaker 6 (08:42):
Yeah, the worst thing about Florida is we have some
pretty unique criminals.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
You're right about that. It's amazing to me. But people
here do the weirdest things to get in trouble.
Speaker 5 (08:53):
Where else are you going to find the naked man
eating a homeless guy's face.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
In the middle of the street.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
What was the story that we had when shar Grff
was with us. We had someone call nine one one
because someone called her a name? Right, Yeah, well you
do the Midwidge in the news, and I mean they're
all Florida. Yeah, will they come here because the weather's
so nice.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
And for some reason, for some reason, ninety percent of
the crimes committed in Florida or committed by.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Naked people, they do take their clothes off. I don't
get it. Lulu says that every time we do a story,
she's like, why do they have to take the clothes off?
What is that?
Speaker 5 (09:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
I guess because it's so hot.
Speaker 6 (09:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Sir, you may have figured out why we're in the
top ten and not the top five. That alone. What
you gotta thought, is the state you've been in that
you really like? Or should we be higher?
Speaker 5 (09:44):

Speaker 6 (09:45):
Are you guys still talking about the ranking list?
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Yeah? I was going in the weigh in on that.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
Yeah, I think us coming in at eighth is probably
a little high. Really, yeah, I would actually rank up
the lower Now, why is that? If you're talking about
just liveability? Home on prices are through the roof, and
you also got the insurance rates. Auto thoughts of living
in cities like metropolitan areas like Miami are outraged.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
You know, it's interesting though, insurance. I'm going through this
right now, my homeowner's insurance. Actually, I've got a couple
of options and it's gone down. There's more companies in
so depending on when you closed on your house and
your homeowner's insurance renews, it's probably going to be lower.
I know mine has gone down the last two years,
and if I get all my ducks in a row,
it'll go down significantly again this year for me. So
(10:31):
that's a help. If the property tax thing passes, that's
going to be a big help in terms of the
other costs. We were just talking yesterday, what was it,
rent is down across the state. Yes, it is because
they're overbuilding exactly.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
Well, yeah, they're well over built.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah, because there's a lot of vacancies now obviously supplying demand,
price comes down. I hear what you're saying. But then
you have to factor in some of the good like
where we live, the water recreation crime is relatively low
in Florida compared to a lot of other states. Does
that make sense, Yeah, But.
Speaker 6 (11:00):
I think that's also the reason why Utah, South Dakota
and some other states like that are going to rank
a lot higher, because they have just as much to do,
if not more. They have comparable crime rates, But insurance
rates on home owners are going to be a lot
lower because they don't have to deal with your weather
risk like we do down here. Then you also have
the utility like we run our ac down here year
(11:22):
round because it's on Droplo ninety until it's just about January.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
That's true. I mean, you're right about that. And I
guess it comes down to whether you want to experience
the seasons or not. I like a change your pace.
I don't want to have to deal with snow for
two or three months out of the year.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
I grew up in the seasons, and I'll tell you
what winter seemed like. It was most of the year,
so it would get darkerly, the trees were bare. I mean,
when the snow is falling, it's beautiful, but then it
becomes a mess.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
When you have to live in it.
Speaker 6 (11:49):
Yeah, I was born and raised here. I've been out
of the state a few times, and I'll tell you
right now, I'll die if I touch snow.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Hey, love you man, Thank you for calling. Yea, you
got a thought now. Somebody called and said what you
need to do on this list. Basically, what you're saying
is when you look at jobs, atmosphere, crime, all that
is Florida, is Utah, is South Dakota. All these states
kind of near the top of the list. Are they sexy.

Yeah, well that's true. I mean you got the theme parks,
but you gotta, like you said, you got to drive
there on for and if we're going to be we
got to mention seventy five and ninety five in the
not sexy category?

Correct, especially in every year.

Everybody outside every night watching it and the landing. Every
time they say the rockets going off, unless they unless
