Speaker 4 (00:31):

Speaker 3 (00:32):
What the fuck? Eighteen years still talking fishing? It's amazing,
Bless you, bless year. I have a coffee cup thing,

I hadn't finished your intro yet. I'm sorry, Johnny Man
love thing man, Joe Hector, everybody, Hello, mister mister.
Speaker 6 (01:06):
Rude are you yes?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Back in Night forty Jeff is flying the ship and
of course crazy man Stephen J. Gray get on the
bells and whistles, going on what a crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
And how y'all reeling this morning really.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Good, except for that dolphin lost, for that was a
toughie to take too. Was out though for like forever?
Speaker 5 (01:24):
How long is he going to be on?
Speaker 3 (01:25):
I actually brought in a couple of things here that
kind of explained his career. See, if he had had
the proper protection over the course of his career, what
does that say? Yeah, okay, proper protection he would have had.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
People on camera can't see that. So when does it?
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Box of Trojans okay, protection okay. So that means he
would have been hit so hard his braid would now
not be fluffy marshmallows okay. And basically because of that,
now his career is totally toast a box of toast?
Speaker 6 (02:03):
Was that?
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Was that pretty good?
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Or one?
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Man? I thought that out myself with Public's last night?
Was that great?
Speaker 7 (02:08):
You know?
Speaker 8 (02:08):
I gotta say this, you know, for you to make
light of it, I respect that. I think that's great
that you're making light of a season that.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Well, I'm thinking a guy that could get hurt and
they walk off with two hundred million dollars and never
play again.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
He's not going to walk off with two hundred whatever, man,
I don't care.
Speaker 6 (02:24):
Does anyone know the real like deal there we're.
Speaker 9 (02:27):
Hearing sixty five possibly if he walks. But here's the thing, gentlemen,
it's it's one We lost one game, okay, there's a
lot more football to play, and the Raiders lost their
first game, which is even more embarrassing than losing the second.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Game to the Chargers. So you know, anyway, let's get
back out point man. Johnny Stetham's our great guest or.
Johnny will be talking to you throughout the show about
what's happening at Johnny Jigs and brand new lures you
put out, because I think jigging has become super banging,
big all the time, right it is.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
It is getting up there. Actually this month there's a
huge spread in Florida Sport Fishing Magazine on Johnny Joy.
Is pretty cool. Wow, man, they put out there. They
did a They basically posted a podcast from the Science
of Fishing that I did a little while back, you know,
and getting into the nuts and bolts.
Speaker 6 (03:19):
So pretty cool for me.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
For somebody who's been reading that for a long time.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Make sure you shoot me a link or whatever so
I can see that online as.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Well, I believe. So, yes, Okay, yeah, because.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Lord knows, Jose the king of posting links and promoting
all the other things he sells on the side of fatness,
Hector walletough Man. Yeah, okay, anyway, we have got any
Jimbo Thomas holding the line. One who'd like us to
bring him on?
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (03:46):
Should Johnny sing him in?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Johnny does not want that job.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
No, no, you don't want me singing. I'll sing.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
I would just bring him in, man, do it, Joe, Rob,
just bring him in, cold man, you do it all right?
This man, there's no fish on the planet. He's actually
swam with Mola Mola's and they become best of buddies.
He's bodied with them. Okay, he loves eating raw banita.
He's the man with the plan on a Thomas flyer,
jim Bo Thomas.
Speaker 10 (04:17):
Hold on to see you later, Mola Mola, Hey, what's up, guys?
Speaker 3 (04:21):
I just I had nothing else to say. Jim By apologized, Bro.
Speaker 10 (04:24):
But yeah, I don't know where that came from.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
We didn't compatize you this morning. Man, So you're good,
you know what I mean? Anywayeah, well that's us. That's
a happy day, right. We cheted last night and the
fire went out. I think yesterday, right, And how'd you
do it there, buddy?
Speaker 10 (04:41):
Yeah, we did. We've had good weather all week, and
again business wise, charter wise, business has been very slow.
But we made it out yesterday for the first time
and I don't know how long, and we were actually
about the only charter boat out there at least that
I'm aware of, and we had the whole lotion to ourselves.
And it's much like it's been. You gotta get lucky
(05:04):
and find some floating debris and you're most likely going
to have a decent catcher or catch fish at very least.
We found a couple of good logs floating and honestly,
with these logs that we found should have had one
hundred dolphin on them, but we ended up catching I
don't know, we probably caught a dozen dolphins, but only
(05:27):
seven of them were keepers. And again this time of
the year, they should be nice size ones, and we're
catching these little guys. We're like, what's going on here?
So it was maybe a late spawn or something. But
they're either super short or they're easy legals. Though some
decent size school there's nothing special, nothing huge by any means.
(05:48):
And once we did find them, they're eating live bait,
cut bait. It didn't matter. So if you're heading out,
look for floating debris anywhere from the deep water on out.
We went probably fifteen miles out. We found the first
piece debris, probably about six miles out. Caught a few,
(06:09):
found some other little pieces of debris. Nothing on the
way in. We found a huge log in about eight
hundred feet of water, so it's relatively close, probably four
miles out nice or five miles out, and we caught
a few off of that, and we found a piece
of plastic. Caught a few off of that, so it
(06:31):
realistically not a terrible dolphin catch. But anything floating has
been holding wahoos, which it always does. But this is
a great time of the year to get wahoos. I
know Joe hates hearing about him, but I portroom with
this good. This is a great time to catch wahoos.
We ended up catching three wallhos yesterday. What yeah, two
(06:58):
but all on the Usually when you catch some on
the floaters, they're small ones. Two of them were probably
ten pounds, so not terrible, but not big by any means.
And then the third one was probably eighteen or even
close to twenty pounds, so a normal size one. Okay, yeah, right,
(07:19):
So the the wahoo's, we were trolling the planer with
the Bonita strip bait and a pink sea witch. But
you control a spoon under there. You can get your
Johnny jig and drop it down there and most likely
they'll bite that as well. So anything good, anything good
floating out there is going to be holding waho's. Now,
(07:42):
if you're going to drop your Johnny jig down there,
put a piece of wire leader on it, because otherwise,
well maybe not. You might love that because then you'll
have to five more albums.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
You tell Johnny how to use his own jigs while
you're at a Jim.
Speaker 10 (07:55):
Well, I'm not telling Johnny, are telling the people listening in.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
Okay, I actually have a bunch of wallhoo on the
Johnny Jigs payroll out there.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah, it's a good lie there. Anyways, you tried your technique, Jim, Well,
you said a piece of wire, He's saying, Johnny, you're
saying not basically right.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
Yeah, definitely wire. We actually have a yeah, yeah, we
have a set of assist hooks. It's our Johnny Jigs
pro jigger wire choruses hooks. So it's got a wire
in the middle of the actual cord that that's on
the assist hooks. But he's Jimbo is mentioning leader. It's
a good idea to put a little bit of leader
(08:41):
on there if you're going out to something that's floating
and dropping wire. Yeah, actually, yep, you can actually do it.
So it's not it's not exactly soul pitch jigging. You're
more getting into a little bit of speed jigging when
trying to get these wallhoo's. But it's definitely jigging, and
a Johnny jig definitely.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Would have And what size wire would it be? Jimbo,
do you think.
Speaker 10 (08:59):
Man I would use a piece of number like exactly
number six wire. I don't think it's that. Yeah, see,
but you you must have read an article or something
about it, Okay, so yeah, I don't think it's not
(09:23):
like the wa who's a real leader shy like some
other types of fish. So a piece of the leader
is not going to affect the amount of fights you
get on the wall Who's but it will definitely affect
in how many jigs you do or do not lose.
So you want a piece of put a put a
piece of wire leader on there. But today it looks
like another flat calm day and I am fishing in
(09:46):
the last couple of years when I've been on the
radio talking about this in my annual mangrove Snapper tournament. Today, Yeah,
probably a dozen votes participating in this mangrove snaper or
the largest mangrove. So just got to get lucky and
catch a big mangrove. There's plenty of small ones out there,
(10:07):
but not a lot of big ones.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Where do you catch mangrove snappers down this way, Jimbell,
you want to give us a couple of pointers? Maybe?
Speaker 10 (10:14):
So, I mean there mangrove snappers are everywhere. I could
probably go on the dock behind the house and probably
catch a big one, but that just doesn't seem right.
So uh, there's any any structure throughout the bay, ledges,
rock piles on any of the reefs out and hawks
(10:35):
channel a lot of the through the cuts like Government cut.
There's mangroves. There's mangroves everywhere. Catching a decent size one
is a different story though you know they're they're everywhere,
but getting them to fight, especially a nice size one,
is a different story last year. In the last three years,
(10:56):
we've won twice.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Cool.
Speaker 10 (10:59):
Last year I got my buddy Doug, who he of
the four of us going, he probably cares the least
about fishing. He just wants to drink beers, which there's
nothing wrong with that either. And so me and my
brother Rick and another friend Bill, we're in the back.
We're fishing hard, you know, trying to catch a big mangrove.
(11:20):
And he's up on the bow drinking a beer and
puts his rod in the holder. Next thing is rod's
bent over and we're not paying attention. He's fighting his fish,
and then he stops and has his beer in a
sandwich and then fights it some more. He reels it
in and with the winning snapper. So I'm like, man,
here we are buffing our ass trying to catch one,
and he's not not trying any want to catch his
(11:43):
biggest one. So it's all good.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
So we had to leave her sooner, Jim. But hey man,
thanks again for the plugs for Johnny Jackson to bring
that fact that you use him on your boat real quick,
real quick, sure, Joey, how.
Speaker 6 (11:56):
Big were the wahoo?
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Were they? Were?
Speaker 6 (11:57):
They big ones?
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Are there?
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Big ones being caught or it just kind of medium.
Speaker 10 (12:01):
We woser, so on the floaters, they're typically small to mediums.
So I I already if you paid attention, you didn't
do well in school. I don't think I said I
had two ten pounders and one eighteen to twenty pounds.
Speaker 8 (12:18):
I no, no, no, no, the one I mean you mean,
I mean being caught in general, not not like you're.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Trying to cover your That's what I said. You're trying
to cover your butt because he told you earlier. I'm
gonna take wait, okay, you want to go, what's what's
the general way up steam?
Speaker 6 (12:33):
Can you play that back? Please?
Speaker 2 (12:35):
No, I can't right now, but just just let's go.
Speaker 8 (12:38):
Let they told you in the show, I said being
caught not okay?
Speaker 3 (12:44):
So did you earlier say that to you?
Speaker 10 (12:50):
The average average while who's if you're not catching them
on a floater, I'd say, is twenty to thirty pounds.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
Okay.
Speaker 10 (12:58):
So by off Miami yesterday, the water did not look
really good. It was it was green out to probably
five hundred feet. So if you're gonna just blind troll
for Wahoo's, if you're looking, I would find where the
color changes. If the water's blue and closed. I'd look
for him anywhere from about one hundred and fifty feet
(13:19):
to four hundred feet. Big exag troll through that area,
but we had thirty waters, so I would go out
to where the water got clean, wherever that color changes,
and fished that. The bulk of the waho's caught South
Florida are caught off of like Pompino Beach killbrow in lit.
(13:40):
But they catch ten to one that we catch down
here in the Miami area, it seems. And they catch
some big ones too, and they're fishing in that shallow
water and that's a good twenty feet.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
If Jimbo's getting him. If they're getting him in Miami
like that, it's got to be insane in Pompino right now?
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Have I told you how late we are?
Speaker 10 (13:59):
Sorry? I know that.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Last question, Joe and Jimo's very short answer just push
us way past the clock time. You're okay, yes, but
it was all valid, good stuff. Yes, thank you, Jim Bow,
Thank you man for being the seaside uh whatever your
knowledge man, the guru guy, the Yoda fishing man.
Speaker 10 (14:22):

Speaker 3 (14:26):

lot more friendly and less sarcastic, and what really nice guy?

out Man just went kapuschki after chewing a twenty five
thousand miles. Just get a new car and just buy.
I just googled the nearest places in North Miami, okay,
and this came up on my phone. Yeah, it's action
transmission spilled aac t Ioan Transmissions with less Merit. Now
(19:45):
he's part of the Merit yacht boat family ironically, all right.
And when I got to his shop, he goes, I
know your voice. Man. He goes, are you Eric Brandon?
I said yeah. He goes, I listen to that Weekly
Fisherman show every weekend with you and another guy that's
a good joke. Actually mentioned you my name. Okay, he goes,
(20:05):
you and Joel Man put on a great show. He
listens every weekend. So thank you less Yeah, thank you.
But I pick it up to that for the show man.
Speaker 9 (20:13):
And how much is the discount for you mentioning him.
You're just not on the show when.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
You show beyond beyond belief. Okay, I'm kidding, No, I'm
paying full fair, dude.
Speaker 9 (20:22):
By way, I ran into somebody at home depot last
week who's a fan of the show as well too,
and they recognized me, so I was like blown away
on that.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
So yeah, and everybody knows Johnny stet him. He just
doesn't even know. He walks out publics and the whole
store just stops shopping when he see him walk in
the freeze. My god, it's that's Johnny's Jetam.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Can I have your autograph?
Speaker 3 (20:44):
And just got a big old line a deli ticket,
deli counter to get line.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
Man doors open, he floats, it floats in.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Yeah, man, you're quite the star, Johnny. Speaking of stars,
she's on the line one. I feel bad for the guy.
He said, multiple surgeries. He's hurting like hell, Man, you
feel bad for him? Yeah, I do.
Speaker 9 (21:01):
Wow, I have to be so negative about him. Every
time you bring them off.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
I feel bad he's had some surgery.
Speaker 6 (21:08):
You bring up his surgeries. Every he doesn't bring up,
we'll let him.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
He's on the phone.
Speaker 8 (21:13):
I think there's a there's a little bit of strategy
and you're so demented.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Man, A good morning, my surgically repaired Fred Hell buddy.
Speaker 22 (21:24):
Two down, two or three more to go?
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Uh see, Joe, there you go, Yeah, two down, three
more to go. He's not a whole line up of
surgery's waiting. Okay. I feel bad for the guy. Okay, okay,
can't make a livelihood with his thumb don't work, and
his shoulders out of whack and his knees are made
of jello. You know, come on, man, you have no
campassion for you.
Speaker 22 (21:47):
You know, thirty six years of doing this, doing my
thing has put a little wear and tear on me,
but you know it's still not too much wear in
terror to be to talk with you guys.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Hey, look that's a that's a thing, man, that was good.
I just seen. I guess on set today is Johnny
Steatum Johnny Jiggs, which we talked about before with you
about using jigs off your boat, which you have occasionally done,
I do believe, but I know you has some limited
fishing this week. Weather has been kind of weird. Whatever.
What's what's on your bass land? What's going on?
Speaker 22 (22:18):
Well? Between the weather being a little weird. The canals
are going up and down a lot with probably more
than your bed is. But anyway, it's going down up
in a lot wow. Because of the they're moving a
lot of water. And to be truthful, the fishing has
not been as great as I would like it to be.
(22:38):
We are catching some we have to work our tails
off to get what we get, and it's just kind
of until it starts pooling down. I just don't see
it getting really really good in the fresh water. And
I heard it they're catching some pretty nice peacocks in
South Miami, which I don't go down that way that
much anymore because it's just two hours to get there
in two hours to come home, and I'm spending a
(22:59):
lot of time the truck and I generally have fishing
up this way. It's just just this week seems to
be a little bit, uh tough for really the last
couple of weeks.
Speaker 23 (23:07):
A bit.
Speaker 22 (23:07):
It's that it's not been off the charts and some
top water bight a little bit below the surface with
the jerk baits and uh we've been swimming some worms
and stuff on the surface to get the steakheads a hit.
But they're doing a lot of short striking, so it's
it's a little frustrating that way for me. And maybe
maybe I got to go find the new canals for
the steakheads, because maybe you're getting a little wiser to
(23:29):
to my tricks. But it could be just the weather too,
And I'm hoping it's the weather. I'll know within the
next few weeks. And I'm not going to be out
for a week. Unfortunately, I have to. I have to
abide by what the doctor said this time. And I
got a bunch of stitches in me, and and uh,
until they come out and I get a go, I'm
not gonna be able to do a whole while this week.
But I do have the one guy doing some work.
(23:51):
He's doing some trips for me, so I'll find out
a little bit from him. What's going on.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
You you got any questions for mister, mister freshwater salt
water guy.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
You know, I'm just thinking about snake snake heads.
Speaker 24 (24:02):
I've never caught one before, and it's like, what what
would you what advice would you give to someone who's
going out there and and just brand new to this
trying to get a snake head?
Speaker 22 (24:14):
Good question I got Actually, I've got some good advice
because more than likely they don't have a boat, and
they are a fish. You can walk the banks for uh.
There's there's a lot of there's a lot of open
banks that you can fish. It's just they're kind of
steep sometimes. But the key there is making very long casts.
And when I say long, I mean long. You want
it as far away from you as possible. If you
(24:36):
can parallel the banks, that's the best way, and take
to take either a magnum worm or maybe a bass
assassin type bait, or a fluke or or rivet frogs
that or any kind you can. You can have the
two hook frogs as well. They work well those who
work slower. But if a lot of times we just
try to cover a lot of water, and I do
(24:56):
the same thing in the boat. I try to cover
as much water as possible. There's bread out. They're not
friendly fish with each other. They tend to hang on
their own and they like to be right up tight
on the bank and don't be afraid to throw it
on the banks. But that's probably my best suggestion. And
there's a lot of little canals that you can actually
go hit the scum of your looking canals probably the better.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Okay, Johnny. You know of these fish they hide under
the bank right there on the edge of the canal, right,
And so most guys like Allee and Russell tell these
fake frogs on the bank, off the bank, and then
they pull them off the bank, and so they flop
into the water. The snake adad because some wh of
those little lads there and.
Speaker 15 (25:32):
Just nails it.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
I've heard there and bushes it.
Speaker 10 (25:36):
Man. Yeah, that's question.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
I had a question for cap now.
Speaker 9 (25:40):
And you say you like to go to these banks
and these canals so you can just walk up.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
You don't need tony to the boat.
Speaker 9 (25:44):
How many cars have you caught with your fishing equipment
while while fishing these canals.
Speaker 10 (25:49):
It has happened before.
Speaker 22 (25:51):
I have seen it happen. It's a losing battle. I
promise you won't live in that battle. Nothing good comes
out out of it.
Speaker 25 (25:57):
You're probably best.
Speaker 22 (25:57):
And that's the guys I like to throw. The flyes
probably the one that will have the worst tendency of
getting caught up on something.
Speaker 26 (26:02):
Because they're going back almost equally.
Speaker 22 (26:04):
With their cast as far as they go forward, and
and and again. The fly is no different. You have
to make long casts. It's uh, it's been. Do you
definitely need some fake fly or fake flies?
Speaker 25 (26:14):
Fake fake?
Speaker 22 (26:16):
I think my drugs are starting.
Speaker 23 (26:17):
To kick in.
Speaker 22 (26:19):
I'm in a bit of pain this morning. I'm sorry.
I just had the one surgery yesterday, so it's I
was weether going to take any pills this morning, but
when I got up, it told me.
Speaker 11 (26:27):
I had to.
Speaker 26 (26:27):
I didn't have a choice.
Speaker 22 (26:29):
Okay, so but but long, long cast is the key.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
All right, buddy, Hey, listen, take more of your pills
and go back to bed. Okay, relaxed, enjoy yourself.
Speaker 27 (26:38):
I got one more.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
I was hoping you might ask for you quiet today.
Speaker 8 (26:41):
Actually, yes, sir, Hey, have you ever heard of a tigerfish?
Speaker 22 (26:50):
Yes, they're in that don't now, We're not going here
with this one. Come on, there's no pictures. They are
not here.
Speaker 6 (26:58):
No, no, no, I'm not saying that are being caught.
Speaker 22 (27:01):
But okay, I just thought it was gonna be one
of your infamous air pima type fish.
Speaker 23 (27:06):
Again.
Speaker 22 (27:06):
You know that that you've seen thousands of.
Speaker 6 (27:09):
Well, there are here, Johnny.
Speaker 22 (27:12):
They're they're in a farm there, a farmer being raised.
Speaker 8 (27:16):
And now, okay, now is it possible for those fish
to survive here, you think, or no, they.
Speaker 22 (27:22):
Tend I really don't know that much about him. I
know they're they're from Africa. Uh, there's there's a couple
of different types of tiger fish. There's they also on
a giant tiger fish too. But but as far as
I know, they're you know, they are catchable over there,
they are not over here. I've never heard of them
being caught, just like just like I've never heard of
(27:43):
the air of pimas being caught here either. I might
add no, no, no, no, shot at you, but that
picture never came through and and and I know better,
So you know.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Anyway, Hey feel better? Heel up, get well, sooned, buddy man,
take a little breaking back. We're talking about the smith
next to you fish with Johnny. I do believe, yes,
he may ask you again for five truckloads of free

Ry Captain Boucher Smith the man. What's up cap?
Speaker 7 (33:19):
Good morning, Johnny boy. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 36 (33:21):
I went to your fan club Wednesday night. I want
to uh speak at uh ladies. Let's go fishing for
Lauderdale chapter. Yeah, and those girls they just are all
about the Johnny Jigs shop.
Speaker 7 (33:38):
Was I the most amazing shop.
Speaker 36 (33:41):
I mean, just everything you can want for slow pitching,
high speed, even a couple of actual blogs with trouble
oaks on them, but uh beautiful store.
Speaker 9 (33:51):
Hey, bouncer, bouncer, bouncer bouncer, you are you getting paid
for this promo here?
Speaker 7 (33:57):
No, I'm reporting on the pitching.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Oh okay, okay.
Speaker 36 (34:03):
And part of it happened to be include you have
to know where to go to buy this stuff, so
you got to mention those things once in a while.
There gory, but that that's my first point of action,
my second point of action.
Speaker 7 (34:18):
And this is really I'm gonna have fun with this.
Speaker 36 (34:21):
But I went fishing with Allen's rem before he had
a surgery this week, and he took me.
Speaker 7 (34:27):
To the Secret Lake. What what I have been to
the Secret Lake?
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Wow?
Speaker 36 (34:33):
And to be quite honest with you, he worked very hard.
I wanted to catch a snake head, and he put
me on a few of them, but I couldn't keep
him on the hook long enough to take a picture
with him, so they don't exist. I did catch a
couple of peacocks on fly, and.
Speaker 7 (34:53):
He told me how to get to the lake. You
just go up by ninety five and you get off at.
Speaker 36 (34:58):
The exit and you.
Speaker 7 (35:00):
Go down the street and then it'll be on your right.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
It's one exit, bouncer ninety five to one exit. Let's finish.
You give Johnny a great, great build up at the beginning,
so let's finish this way. What exit there, Boucy.
Speaker 7 (35:14):
I'm trying to remember what exit it was.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Brain fade on the exit number?
Speaker 10 (35:22):
Wow?
Speaker 36 (35:23):
What expect you know? I'm a senior citizen. We get
we get senior moments.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
He suffering from I can't remember stuff.
Speaker 9 (35:32):
By the way, Elon said that Lake Ida a lot
of action going on on Lake Ida this week.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Were you near that, mister bouncer.
Speaker 7 (35:40):
No, we didn't go to the lake.
Speaker 36 (35:42):
I go there quite frequently, and I haven't caught a
snakehead there either. I am I am the non snakehead
catching man. But at least now I can say I
jumped a couple. We had a very unique escape. I
was fishing with a beautiful frog, the first time I
ever got to fish with a rubber frog, and and
(36:04):
he had me cast over a pollution barrier and he said,
if we hook one, we'll just drive up to the
barrier and we're like, get you know the land.
Speaker 7 (36:14):
Well, sure enough, I hooked one and it drove on
to the barrier and left my.
Speaker 36 (36:18):
Plug stuck in the bottom of the barrier. So Alan
almost had to go swimming to get my plug back.
But uh, I, uh, I had a really tough week.
I went fishing offshore and uh and I hate to
do this to you, Johnny, but.
Speaker 7 (36:34):
We got skunked.
Speaker 36 (36:36):
P used live bait on one guy. One guy used
live bait, and I used jigs, and our grand total
of our catcher. The day was zero, a lout of
Ford Piers. And then I went fishing in uh in
uh Sebastian Inlet in the Indian River, in the river,
not in the inlet, but with Glenn Austin, and we
(37:00):
we had such a day. We had loads of sea trout,
loads of jacks, several snook, uh just flounder.
Speaker 7 (37:09):
Just a really great day.
Speaker 36 (37:10):
But obviously I was getting to hung up because two
of my.
Speaker 7 (37:15):
Snook got me wrapped around trees.
Speaker 36 (37:17):
Oh and Glenn Austin would have to troll the motorists
over there and and halfway hang in the water to
get my snook off the trees. But he did it
both times. One time he thought he was in three
feet of water and he started to loader himself down
in the water and it.
Speaker 7 (37:34):
Was over his head.
Speaker 36 (37:35):
It didn't work out too good. Had some really great fishing,
had a really good time. Drove home in the rain
all the way to Florida was all ranged.
Speaker 7 (37:43):
There you go, and uh back up in Georgia.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
All right, kat, great report man, We got to rock
the clock here. But thanks for all the great stuff
you put out there, and we appreciate you every weekend.
Have a great, great time. Here we go, Johnny. We're
going out to the sea.
Speaker 26 (37:58):
Now you we die?
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Oh yeah, you diver, guy.
Speaker 10 (38:01):
I love love love diving.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Now you scuba diver.
Speaker 6 (38:05):
Scuba diver.
Speaker 5 (38:07):
And actually my son Jay the beginning of summer. Yeah,
my son Jays, he turned ten years old, so he
was able to get junior certified for diving. And then
end of summer, uh, lobster season opened up, so before
school started and we got down there and he was
(38:27):
able to get his first lobster. So super proud dad
moment for me.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Your buddy's a diver too, Joe. Now, I never asked
Johnny whether he put a spirit through a grouper's brain hole.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
Here we go again.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
You're curious, Johnny ever got a loaded spear gun put
a spirit of sleeping grouper?
Speaker 5 (38:45):
I have spearfish, but I'm I'm not into it.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Yeah, thank you. Yeah, you'd rather catch about a Johnny
jig Rotten like real men. We are real men, real men.
Thank you so much. Oh he's listally by the way. Yeah,
Jim Matthew's waiting for him.
Speaker 25 (39:04):
I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, Jim. Are we blowing
bubbles or what we're blowing bubbles.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
We're blowing bubbles. Ben All right, Jimmy, what's up buddy?
Speaker 25 (39:14):
Listen? This is it, buddy, this weekend, finally, finally the
weather's cooperating. Okay, no wind, flat flat flat ocean. I mean,
I have a couple of friends of ours that are down.
They're commercial guys spearfishing and lost tering. It's been almost
a month down there in the Keys. They haven't been
(39:34):
able to get out just because of the wind and
the rain and all the other stuff. So yeah, if
you can get out this weekend, go. It is definitely
a good gentle north current thirty forty of visibility. We
still have so much rain and all that fresh water
has been dumped out, so that's kind of been probably
(39:55):
the only negative. But other than that, flat, flat, flat ocean,
I'll be out today and tomorrow. I had a bunch
of buddies go out yesterday. I should have done that too,
but I had so much stuff going on. But yeah,
it's it's been, it's been. This is finally the summer, finally, finally,
I'm telling you, but uh, I'm gonna give a plug
(40:17):
the Johnny jig. Okay, I am my buddy, Steve siegeal
uh got I got a bunch and he was down
to the Tortugas with another buddy and uh doing the
slow pitch thing and uh the snowy group. He was
catching snowy grouper on the Johnny Jig stuff.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Wow.
Speaker 25 (40:36):
An now, now that was that was three days you know,
down in the Keys.
Speaker 23 (40:44):
But two days.
Speaker 25 (40:45):
Prior to that he was fear fishing. Okay, so.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
You had to go there and you're doing so well.
Speaker 5 (40:55):
I had to buddy, you're doing so good, Jimmy.
Speaker 10 (40:58):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, well man.
Speaker 25 (41:03):
That was that was pretty good. That was pretty good.
But boy, that story has about about Black Hooper that
he's speared went in a hole and then he was
he was listen, he was fighting a moray eel coming
out at him. Oh my lord, it ain't easy down there.
You guys think it's easy, you know, oh man, but yeah,
(41:23):
it was.
Speaker 23 (41:24):
It was.
Speaker 25 (41:24):
He had a great, great trip. Uh, that's Steve. He's
on Relentless. I'll be on there today thirty nine Invincible
out of Lighthouse Point. So yeah, it'd be a fun time.
Speaker 11 (41:33):
Uh.
Speaker 25 (41:33):
As far as where the lobsters are, And that's a
good question. Who asked that question. Did anybody ask that question?
Speaker 3 (41:40):
Your second friend, they are not off the beach like
you know, a month ago, they were everywhere.
Speaker 10 (41:50):
Off the beach.
Speaker 25 (41:51):
Now you've got to actually work for him. They're they're
not huddled up together in our cluster together. And so
this is like a couple of buddies that I've done.
You know, I've got some good spots that have produced
in the past. They're not clustered together. So you just
got to kind of go where you can go, but
stay away near the end. Let's because a lot of
(42:12):
commercial guys and charter guys they're dropping their you know,
ten twenty divers and they'll catch a couple of bucks
here and there. But so go off the beaten paths.
That's my that's my advice. But second reef and third
reef both seem to be producing, which is good, but
(42:32):
nothing off the beach, nothing in ten feet of.
Speaker 6 (42:34):
Water day what about hot baby.
Speaker 25 (42:37):
Yeah, they're everywhere, freaking everywhere. But but just just yeah,
the issue becomes, I don't spear them anymore at all,
unless I go, wow, that's a big hawks is okay?
I don't, Eric, I don't because you know, I hate
spearing a it's hard to patch up that little hole
when she put the spere in them. And you know,
(42:59):
beyond with you have fifteen and a half inch hogfish.
Tastes just as good as this sixteen inch hogfish. But
you know, let it grow up a little bit, so
unless you see it. The same with red groupers, man,
them red groupers are everywhere. They're tagging along with you,
especially when you're going after lobster.
Speaker 10 (43:16):
Everybody likes it.
Speaker 3 (43:17):
Oh right, see, oh yeah, Johnny and Joe to kind
of picture this way, he said, they kind of tag
along with you. Think about this. He's down there diving, Johnny, right,
forty six fifty feet of water. He's swimming along. He's
got this red grouper too, was right, and he's petting
him on the head. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
They're like golden retriever.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
Golden retriever okay, and probably thought me like a little
fish snack like a fish dog tree kind of thing.
Speaker 10 (43:38):
Right.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
And then he says, hey, listen, just go catch run
up ahead me a little bit, little boy, and I'll
catch up to you. And then he changes into this
ninja assassin. Okay, that's what he pulls back the spear gun.
He cocks it, and that same friend he was just
swimming with becomes dinner because he puts that spear right through.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
It's little tidy my.
Speaker 7 (44:00):
Friend brainha boy.
Speaker 23 (44:03):
Yeah, you know, yeah.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
But you know, really exciting stuff. Joe listen, Redrup Johnny.
Speaker 6 (44:15):
Hey, by the way, hey what about hot fish Johnny?
For them they lay sideways, they're.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Like Johnny Johnny.
Speaker 9 (44:22):
I don't know if you Johnny knows this, but Chief
he is just like Johnny. He sells uh Johnny's jigs.
But the difference is he doesn't buy him from Johnny.
He finds him in the water, cleans them and then
re sells them behind the scenes on Facebook marketplace.
Speaker 25 (44:38):
Yeah yeah, yeah, recyclos Johnny. I mean I should bring
him down to your shop there and give you and
give you the ones that we findicularly on the recks.
We found them on the recks a lot, and you know.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
You could use them as.
Speaker 3 (44:53):
He doesn't take returned merchandise. Okay like that, Okay, Hey Jim,
what about what about muttons?
Speaker 6 (45:01):
Any any big muttons down there?
Speaker 37 (45:03):
Oh?
Speaker 25 (45:03):
Yeah, down in the keys. The big muttons were everywhere.
Speaker 3 (45:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 25 (45:07):
One of my one of my buddies, Maryland Higgs that's
a sister of Julie Higgs, who's the world class spearfishing woman.
She shot her personal best thirty inch mutton last weekend.
But yeah, that's really it. But the conditions down there,
it was weird. It was five to seven foot, I
(45:28):
mean it was crappy, right but yeah, all right, blue loo,
blue water underneath, which.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
Is Jim jam sucked down. Your last breath, your tank
is after Okay, take that last breath. You're done. I
did your reserve. Okay, you're done. Okay, thank you, buddy.
Speaker 25 (45:43):
Buddy, right, pitch it over, Thank you.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Time with the start by bucket give away. Great sponsor
like Johnny Jigs is over here on the show as well.
This buckets got to wash the wax deck Cleander, Western Mover,
Joel you name it. Yeah, man, okay, steam did great
and to test the fact that shine up like nineteen
boats out here and good stuff. Man, Yeah it wasn't.
A bucket was full of it.

Speaker 3 (53:59):
You got a lot of fun. Thank you, Thanks buddy.
Before we bring out sean quick story from our good
friend here Johnny about Starbright and what happened. You just
give it to me in sixty seconds, Yes.
Speaker 5 (54:09):
Sixty seconds. So we have well water for our sprinklers
at our house and it's been hitting my wife's car
forever and it's got rust all over. She goes on
Reddit and she finds out that the Starbright rust removers.
People are saying this is gonna work. And we've tried everything, everything,
we can't get this stuff off. And she goes and
gets it. I'm like, I know Starbright, they sponsor the show,
(54:32):
and she dude, it just ran right off the car.
No way she sprayed it. It washed right off.
Speaker 2 (54:38):
I did the same with boats, same thing off.
Speaker 5 (54:41):
I couldn't believe I went to I went to the store,
a whole shopping cart of it. I'm spraying everything around
my house and just watching this rust roll off my house.
Speaker 6 (54:50):
Is wow, I'm gonna try that.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
And you know it's a possible joke. Oh my god,
right on something you can't get it off.
Speaker 5 (54:56):
Listen, this stuff is the real deal.
Speaker 8 (54:58):
There's one thing I always do, always make sure with
my sprinklers, like in the morning, that they are definitely
facing the grass because you know, I know I have white.
Speaker 6 (55:07):
You get that stuff on your car.
Speaker 3 (55:09):
I know what you do. You've pointed towards your neighbor's house.
I know what you do, Joe. Huh, that's why his house.
Speaker 9 (55:15):
By the way, you can also from cleats on a
boat and nuts on a boat, you can get rusts
and stuff around the transomit engine.
Speaker 2 (55:22):
So it works very.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
Well, man, Nothing worse than rusting nuts. I'll tell you
that he's nuts anyway. So we have Sean Rolls holding
faceally online one as we continue over the program.
Speaker 6 (55:31):
Jack day.
Speaker 3 (55:34):
Shot, Hey, Hey, what's up?
Speaker 26 (55:36):
Sean, Hey, Hey, hey, good morning guys.
Speaker 4 (55:39):
What's up on the.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
Water on the couch.
Speaker 26 (55:41):
Where you man, I'm on the water on the kayak.
I'm in three hundred and thirty feet of water right now.
I'm already fishing.
Speaker 11 (55:47):
Man.
Speaker 26 (55:48):
It's a man, I gotta tell you. It is beautiful
out here, dead flat and and like what I'm looking
at in her eyes right now looks like a postcard.
Speaker 10 (55:56):
You can't eat it?
Speaker 9 (55:57):
Hey, can we just next time, Sean you're out, can
we skype with you live so we can see the
video of what you're doing live there is?
Speaker 6 (56:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (56:05):
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
I mean they'll just run up an major feede. Yeah,
there you go. Yeah, So Sean, that was that was
nighttime there. But our guest today is Johnny Stetup and
Johnny Jiggs. I think we're talked before. You've been a
jiggy kind of guy. Right off your yack. You've done
the jigging thing, right yep. And how'd you do?
Speaker 26 (56:27):
That's so kayakers kind of I don't want to say
in ven and jigging. Kayakers were jigging here before any
boaters were doing it, because that's what we did. Buy
and laugh at us, and then it kind of kind
of caught on. So as a Kayaker. We've been in
it to win it since the beginning, man, and the
company has been great to rappers.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
Shot about the jig thing.
Speaker 5 (56:49):
Man, it's true, man, it's I've seen these guys, uh
for years out there jigging. When we first you know,
started with Johnny Jiggs. You know, the Kayakers were our guys. Man,
those were our guys coming in and keeping us, you know,
going and developing and moving forward. But Sean Rolls actually
was a big part of that in the beginning for us.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
Wow. Man, Yeah, he was like your R and D. Yeah,
he was.
Speaker 5 (57:13):
Man, yep. We put some rods in his hand and
we put some jigs in his hand, and we're like,
you know what, this guy's an excellent fisherman. Go out there,
try this stuff out. Let us know what you think,
you know, And he's been a very great ally for
us and the jig.
Speaker 3 (57:27):
What's your best catch has been on Johnny Jigs there
Shandy's figure.
Speaker 26 (57:31):
I think we talked about it before I got my
you get the picture of it right now that actually
Johnny took that picture. That's my personal best black fan.
It's thirty two pounds and change.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
Oh on the screen. Cool, yeah, two thirty two pounder.
That's that's the football, Joe, that's a that's a whopper, dude,
definitely not football.
Speaker 6 (57:50):
Fairly, fairly moderate.
Speaker 26 (57:54):
All these years, I've finally decided on a color, and
I'm going to say the watermelon color is my favorite.
Speaker 3 (58:00):
Johnny say the water Wow. I watched all of a
sudden online he gets like eight thousand requests a watermelon jig.
Speaker 5 (58:08):
Those watermelons are fire man, that's awesome.
Speaker 26 (58:11):
They are. They're just the right combination and they're awesome.
Speaker 3 (58:15):
What are you targeting?
Speaker 26 (58:15):
To get off the phone? I got a I got
a one fifty. I'm about this time on right here
as soon as they get off the phone, so.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
We'll say what are you targeting? They were looking for
a shot.
Speaker 26 (58:25):
Anything that bites man. I was out yesterday it was
pretty slow, benita or more. But last Sunday went out,
got a stale fish and mahia. So hopefully I can
get a get a bite here. It's really slow though,
but got good bait, nice weather, so we'll see what happens.
Speaker 5 (58:40):
Cool.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
The final questions, Joe Hector for your buddy, because you
haven't said.
Speaker 8 (58:45):
Well, I keep you know, keep trying. But I'm I'm
trying to share the show too. But yeah, So Sean,
how's the wahoo and pompino?
Speaker 23 (58:55):
Uh?
Speaker 26 (58:55):
They bit on Tuesday Wednesdays this week and they're supposed
to bite like today, tomorrow, next day, and they haven't
been biting, so we'll see. Man, nobody's been catching them
on boats or high action. That also, everybody's slow right now.
There's not a lot of stunner guys fishing, so you're
not seeing the reports like you normally would. And just
don't go off the internet because just because those guys
(59:15):
aren't reporting doesn't mean they're not biting. They may not
be fitting.
Speaker 6 (59:19):
So and what about what about kingfish?
Speaker 3 (59:22):
Any fish?
Speaker 26 (59:23):
I mean, no, I haven't seen any big ones. Not
around here. Up north there's some big ones, but just
a normal snake around here. And Ali J Rody he
got a ten fifteen pounder yesterday and Boca when we
were up there. And that's about it.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
Well, Sean, at your last resort, if you want to
fight fish, just talk to your marine biologist wife and
she'll sutch up with the hot spots after in the ocean. Okay, great, Yes, she's.
Speaker 26 (59:45):
Out here diving the day so mayow I heard a
hook them on the hook from me and hook me up.
Speaker 3 (59:48):
That What a great partner to have man, a marine
biologist's wife, John.
Speaker 8 (59:52):
I do have a quick I have time for like
one more question always for you, man, Sean.
Speaker 6 (59:57):
So quick question for you.
Speaker 8 (59:59):
I have a lot of people that always ask me
when they're slow trolling right in the tournaments. But I mean,
I'm gonna look at it as in general, they get
tangled a lot when they're using the downrigger for the kayak.
Speaker 6 (01:00:11):
Do you have any tips for them on how to
not get tangled when they're out there using that.
Speaker 26 (01:00:17):
It's all about the separation. Your flat line needs the
way out there, and your deep line needs to be
short and close to the kayak. Yeah, that's pretty much it, man.
I do it all day long. I never get tangled.
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
I'm so grateful. He gives a short answer because we
were so perfect of the clock. Yeah, thank you, Sean.
I was good. Hey back, catch them up, keep doing
your things, Sean, your hardcore man, one of the those
hardcore guys in this program. And thank you again for
doing what you preach.
Speaker 29 (01:00:41):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
You're fishing bro, see you buddy.

Yeah, pretty good. I mean I'm over here in the
Bahamas right now. I'm in Viminy. Been here for the
past couple of days doing some deep drop in catching
a few different species, using a few different methods of fishing.
Over here, a little bit of rotten real fishing. We
got on some yellow tails, set the anchor up, put
out the charm. I got to enjoy a little bit
(01:07:55):
of yellow tail fishing over here, and vim have to
we pass the sharks. Obviously, it was like a race
to pull the yellow tail to the boat. You'll have
like a shark or a coup to just chasing them
in almost every.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Time, Benny, is that water and beautiful?
Speaker 11 (01:08:11):
Oh yeah, that beautiful blue water never gets old. Man,
that color change when you're getting closer to the island.
Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
Well, wondering, Benny, would you think about tossing down a
couple of slow pitcher vertical jigs that kind of a
water body over there. Maybe?
Speaker 23 (01:08:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (01:08:26):
Then, you know, in the Bahamas it's very productive dropping jigs.
Sometimes it's tough. I came here with a dozen jigs
one time with one of my buddies, Dave, went to
Grotsky and man, it literally every drop we lost, the
jig lost, the jig lost the jig just between the
kudahs and the sharks, and even if we did hook
something decent then we got bid off. It was just
(01:08:47):
it was tough.
Speaker 10 (01:08:48):
You know.
Speaker 11 (01:08:48):
When spent there was like a lot of money and
jigs went pretty quick. Yeah, I've never done too much
jigging over in the Bahamas since then.
Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
Not knocking jigs you make Johnny but quality product. And
to buy a quality product, you have to pay for quality. Okay. Yeah,
I mean we say you're the cheapest, but you definitely
are probably the best, you know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (01:09:08):
Yeah, I think you got to get a little deeper
in the Bahamas and and when you're dropping, to get
away from the kudos a bit, and possibly the sharks
might make it a little bit uh more productive to
where you're not losing jigs and fish.
Speaker 10 (01:09:24):
All day long.
Speaker 6 (01:09:24):
But they're so bad there too.
Speaker 30 (01:09:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:09:26):
I remember we did our tournaments there, Benny, you remember that,
and in the Bahamas, and yeah.
Speaker 27 (01:09:31):
I.
Speaker 6 (01:09:36):
Mean you couldn't.
Speaker 8 (01:09:37):
You couldn't jig like I mean a lot of guys
now guys did, and I actually did when when we
went on our trip there to scope it out, and
you know, got a little wi who but uh, it's
just so hard there, and I can't imagine now, you
know what I mean, It's got to be worse.
Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
So they get We got a lot of fish here yesterday.
Speaker 11 (01:09:58):
Literally almost every fish we caught a shark.
Speaker 10 (01:10:00):
Following it up.
Speaker 11 (01:10:02):
We were doing a lot of deep dropping in like
twelve hundred and fifty feet of water. Man even out
there in twelve fifty literally following us up to the boat,
following our fish to the boat, biting fish tails in half.
We got a couple of queen snappers yesterday, a couple
of Mystic groupers from the night there. So pretty pretty productive.
We actually told Joe Meyer Jack I was getting some
(01:10:25):
some queens, and he said, drop a jig.
Speaker 3 (01:10:28):
Yeah, very cool.
Speaker 26 (01:10:29):
I don't know a big Johnny gigs guy.
Speaker 5 (01:10:31):
Joe, Yeah, yeah, Joe's my body.
Speaker 10 (01:10:33):
Very cool.
Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
I don't talk about the shark prob I know I've
talked to Roddy Bruno, the Double C commissioner about that.
What you trying to do about maybe loosening restrictions on
sharks because they have just gotten so stupid bad. Yeah,
you can't have a day. I fishedly go from Mexico
for permit and lost ten in a row to sharks.
You know, you can't get around the matter everywhere.
Speaker 6 (01:10:55):
You remember the Black Fan season when they were coming through.
Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
I mean it was It's crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:10:59):
I've never seen like this, you know, a lifetime of fishing,
I haven't seen it.
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
Well anyway, Betty, I know you're in the Bahamas.
Speaker 18 (01:11:05):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
Is this called costing you money per minute? So if
it is. I think we should have the phone and
let you not pay a big whopper of a billion.
Speaker 11 (01:11:12):
Now I know, Tom, I'll tell you guys a bill later.
Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
Man, it's all good quick question for Benny's keep racking
up his phone bill joke.
Speaker 6 (01:11:20):
So what, Benny, what are you thinking here? Like, what's
what's the deal with Aaron?
Speaker 45 (01:11:25):
Is he?
Speaker 3 (01:11:25):
Is he?
Speaker 6 (01:11:26):
You think he's done? Or is it just the week
one kind of thing?
Speaker 23 (01:11:29):
Or I don't know truthfully?
Speaker 11 (01:11:31):
Yeah, I'm actually you guys, remember my comment about it,
you know football, Like a week or two ago, I
didn't have much confidence after watching that game. I'm actually
more confident than I am this season than before the
season started. I mean, we played San Francisco, they just
lost the super Bowl. They're coming in hot because they're
fired up after like losing a super Bowl game, potentially
(01:11:52):
the best team in the league. You know, if our
defense would have kept us in that game, Aaron would
have had a few more potential opportunities, which he had
even more opportunities that weren't his fault that dropped balls,
misplayed stuff like that. I'm actually a little more confident.
See in that first game, he didn't look like he
was too into it. But I think if he gets
in his groove, we'll win a few games.
Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
You know, if he'd attended practice, it might make his
throwing actually a little bit better.
Speaker 10 (01:12:17):
Yeah. I didn't believe, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
He was holding a couch and the team was practicing.
Speaker 5 (01:12:22):
But whatever.
Speaker 6 (01:12:22):
Yeah, I mean we do forget that. You know, the Jets.
That was a tough out.
Speaker 8 (01:12:26):
I mean you had to go to San Francisco there,
Like he said, they were just in the Super Bowl.
They have a great defense. So yeah, I think you know,
I think you're right, You're on point there.
Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
All right, very cool.
Speaker 11 (01:12:37):
I didn't have the best team in the league.
Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Oh man, you that's a that's a man. Betty have
a great time in the Bahamas. Bahamas and catch him
avoid Bahams and catch him up man Sharks. Buddy.
Speaker 26 (01:12:53):
Okay, sound good, guys.
Speaker 6 (01:12:56):
See you buddy.
Speaker 3 (01:12:57):

Speaker 2 (01:13:17):

Speaker 3 (01:13:19):

do your little imitation of mister Rappaport a little bit
a long today.
Speaker 6 (01:13:25):

Speaker 6 (01:13:29):

Man Sunshine himself, Norm, the Man beck Off, finest kind,
(01:19:47):
the good morning dude.
Speaker 6 (01:19:48):
Hey Norm, how's it going, Hey guys, good morning, good.
Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
Board of Norm. We chat it last night. Thanks and
Broward weren't so shabby this week.
Speaker 48 (01:19:58):
No in September is proving once again that it is
one of the better months out of the year. And
yeah it's it's a sleeper month.
Speaker 7 (01:20:10):
It really is.
Speaker 48 (01:20:11):
I mean, everybody's back to school and that you know,
nobody's really focusing on it. But September is a very
good month, and uh we're seeing it. We had some
really good dolphin fish in this uh uh this past week.
Speaker 6 (01:20:29):
And they were spread out.
Speaker 48 (01:20:31):
I mean there were guys catching them from the reef
on out to the sword grounds. And some decent quality
fish are starting to show up as well.
Speaker 3 (01:20:40):
Uh.
Speaker 48 (01:20:40):
So I mean, you know, we've we've said it many
times over, but you know, it seems like they just
keep pushing later and later into the year. And that's
what's making September such a good month.
Speaker 27 (01:20:55):
Uh.
Speaker 48 (01:20:56):
Coming in on the reef. Uh, there's been some decent
black fin tune is uh, some kings around, and a
few summer sails are start are are showing up, and
I think we're gonna see more of of that fishing continue.
And the bottom fishing is decent. It's been some pretty
(01:21:18):
good yellowtail fishing in particular, some good vermilion snappers and
some month snappers.
Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
On the bottom.
Speaker 48 (01:21:26):
Okay, yeah, and uh, you know, and then pushing inshore,
you know, you still got a lot of bait on
the beach. So the snook and tarpin are really good
on the beach right now, and the inlets should start
getting better and better. We haven't seen any more pushes
of mullet yet, but you know, I think that's I
(01:21:50):
think that's starting to happen. And also I almost forgot
to mention it, but a lot of guys fishing pilchers
out on the reef life and drifting with live pillultures
are anchored up with live cultures.
Speaker 5 (01:22:02):
Uh.
Speaker 48 (01:22:03):
Saw some really good rainbow runners cool, yeah, and and rainbow.
Speaker 2 (01:22:09):
Runners rainbow runners yeah.
Speaker 48 (01:22:13):
They're they're yeah anyway, but uh, you know that's that's
a really good eating fish.
Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
Hey, Norm, Uh, we have Johnny step up Hererom Johnny
Jigs on the program. I think you've talked to him before,
back in the last two weeks the shows we've had
them with us. Are you a man who uses a
slow pitch of vertical jigs in your fishing techniques? No, well,
there goes that plug, he said. But there's a reason
(01:22:43):
for it. I'm sure, Norm, Why is it you choose
not to?
Speaker 6 (01:22:46):
Yeah, there is a reason for it.
Speaker 48 (01:22:49):
Now, if somebody wants to book me and bring out
their own gear.
Speaker 10 (01:22:54):
I'm good with that.
Speaker 48 (01:22:56):
I mean We've got lots of great We've got lots
of great spots that we can keep hitting. And I
wouldn't I probably wouldn't do it on the weekends because
it's just so many boats out there.
Speaker 10 (01:23:06):
Yeah, but somebody wanted to.
Speaker 48 (01:23:08):
Book me like during the week and bring out all
their jigging gear, I'm in.
Speaker 3 (01:23:14):
I'm game.
Speaker 49 (01:23:14):
In fact, that was one of the very first trips
that I booked when I got into this game with
with fine behind, and it was a guy, you know, Joe,
it was Robinson Rodriguez. Oh yeah, yeah, so and we
had a hell of a trip.
Speaker 48 (01:23:32):
I mean we we we almost broke the state record
on horse eyed jacks. We caught a giant horse eye jack.
Speaker 6 (01:23:38):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:23:39):
But why I don't.
Speaker 15 (01:23:41):
Uh include it in my arsenal is because.
Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
Number one, the the the jigging.
Speaker 50 (01:23:46):
Gear is very expensive, and I wouldn't just put that
in the hands of you know, and a charter client.
Speaker 6 (01:23:58):
But like I said, you know, if somebody wanted.
Speaker 48 (01:24:01):
To come out and you know, bring bang you know,
bang on some bang on some reefs and and rex, yeah,
I'm in.
Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
Definitely.
Speaker 7 (01:24:11):
It's it's a super way to fish as a starter.
Speaker 48 (01:24:15):
Both No, I wouldn't incorporate it my arsenal.
Speaker 3 (01:24:18):
Norm, Thank you very much, brother, you bring a strong
every show. Thank you very much, and keep on doing
what you're doing. Man, be mister happy because that's what
you are.
Speaker 6 (01:24:25):
Norm. Are they gonna call Tannehill or what?
Speaker 48 (01:24:28):
Oh god, I'm I think Dan Marino is ten rested
and oh.
Speaker 3 (01:24:39):
Man, he's just way back now. Man, But thank you, Dorm.
Have a great weekend, buddy, Dolphins will come back to
your something man. Our friend on linewall, Johnny, this guy
Johnny Steadham and Joe and Joe by the way, brought
him on and thank you Joe. This guy has just
been incredible souce. He's been a captain of the progress.
Johnny Stapill doing so crazy whack every week. Johnny, Good morning, buddy.
Speaker 25 (01:25:02):
Johnny, good morning.
Speaker 51 (01:25:05):
How you guys doing doing great?
Speaker 3 (01:25:07):
Our good friend Johnny stead up here for Johnny Jiggs
is on the program. I know we talked one time
before with you about the fact you tried some fluttering jigs.
I think got the lake Ida to give it a
little try and you had some success with that.
Speaker 51 (01:25:18):
Right, that's right. What's going on?
Speaker 10 (01:25:20):
Johnny?
Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
Hey, Johnny, what's happening at Johnny Johnny Johnny Square.
Speaker 6 (01:25:25):
You got your first clown with him, right, I.
Speaker 5 (01:25:27):
Did, and that was that was a special day for me.
Speaker 49 (01:25:30):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:25:30):
I had a great time on the water with Johnny.
Speaker 3 (01:25:32):
Not caught one yet lately.
Speaker 5 (01:25:34):
This guy is legit. Man, you get on the water
with him, He's not all talk, that's for sure, dude.
Speaker 3 (01:25:38):
I mean the story she's told me over the last
several months to being on the program with Joe Hector. Uh,
I've been unreal. He fies fished for nobody else does. Yeah.
So what's been your week? The week been like for you, Johnny?
Speaker 51 (01:25:50):
Well, you know it's been slow this you know, September
is the last month of the year for chartering, so
it's been good. I've been doing some house cleaning and
get my boat prepped for the season Maverick Owners Tournament
next week, so getting ready for all that. We actually
(01:26:11):
just woke up and decided to go to the Keys yesterday,
so we're actually in the Keys right now. Slow start
to our morning, but we are going to be shooting
over to Everglade National Park and hopefully getting on some
reds snook tarpin all that good stuff. None of the
(01:26:31):
mullet have really pushed down down this far south yet,
and even in Brower County, like, you know, we got
a little bit of that free pod starting to come down.
But I'm hoping that there's gonna be more because the
mullet runs so far has been less than exciting. And
(01:26:54):
you know, I mean usually this is the time of
the year where you know, from basically the whole east
coast of Florida is just flooded with mullet and depending
on the wind direction, they could be right on the
beach where they could be in seven hundred feet of water.
So you know, hopefully we get some more of those guys,
but it hasn't been really super exciting on the mullet
(01:27:17):
run yet. And you know, the lake is is good.
You know, there was a good bit of rain, you know,
the last few weeks, which can make the lake kind
of tough. But this weekend should be awesome. It looks
like very limited rain forecast, and well I'm in the key,
(01:27:39):
so I don't know what it's doing up in Broward
right now, but it should be pretty limited rain forecast
this week and and light light wind, so should be
a good weekend to get out there and get after him.
You know, catching bait on on Lake ITAs probably gonna
be the number one ticket to catch them big peacocks.
And as soon as that water starts to cool down,
(01:28:00):
you know, once we get those first you know, two
cold fronts, and maybe it could be as early as November,
or it could be as really, you know, as late
as January. Before we get a good cold front, you
can start using some of those little micro vertical jigs
to get on some of those peacocks and and they're fun.
Speaker 25 (01:28:22):
You know, you can.
Speaker 51 (01:28:23):
I think I told you guys on the show as
many times I have out fish clients. And I don't
usually fish when I'm on my my.
Speaker 10 (01:28:31):
Charters, but.
Speaker 51 (01:28:33):
A few of my very good clients I will, you know,
we'll fish deep when those cold fronts come through, and
then you know, I'll just if they're waiting on a bite,
I'll drop a jig down and I'll usually outfish them
like two to one on the vertical jig versus live
dait oh Man.
Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
Two to one on a Johnny jig.
Speaker 5 (01:28:54):
Yeah, that's what I got. I had the real out
of the box fishermen. You know, he's thinking of how
he can catch fish by any means necessary. And yeah,
pretty cool, Johnny. What are you doing in the keys
targeting these snook and redfish there? You're throwing artificials. They're
putting out live bait.
Speaker 26 (01:29:12):
Yep, so fly fly fishing and artificial So I actually
use you know, because it where we're going to be

Speaker 51 (01:29:47):
But if you've ever heard of Enrico Puglici, that the brand.
He it's a fly fishing brand, and they make these
brush materials to tie flies with. I actually tie them
on a jake heead and it looks like a shrimp fly,
but it's something you can cast with, you know, a
spinning rod. So we'll be using that.
Speaker 10 (01:30:10):
You know.
Speaker 51 (01:30:10):
I've got a couple of black and purple tarp and
toads tied on to uh, you know, two fly rods.

She is surely the best weathercaster on the Weather Channel.
Great Diver Destination Dive a Discovery Channel which I'm still
going to catch. At the last episode she mentioned last
weekend Joe. Yeah, to see what a genda's in the water.
She's accomplished. Angler she's a weathercaster. Great mom. Oh yeah,
she builds stuff. You know. This lady at home, she's
(01:35:07):
a very beautiful lady, by the way, but she would
might pick it up a hammer and a nail and
a saw and building her kids a brand new playhouse.
Speaker 6 (01:35:14):
That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
Nothing she won't do. Yeah, and she puts up with us,
which is even probably the biggest task in her life.
Very sure, I'm thinking right, yeah. Jennifer Gray Waring, good morning,
see you, Hi, Jen, Good morning, high Hey Jed. So
we're looking at some blue skies currently here over the
palatial palace of Stephen J. Gray wondering how long that
(01:35:38):
may last or not last.
Speaker 37 (01:35:41):
Well, it's gonna be hot. I think that's a big
story this weekend. You do have some rain chances too.
Heat is not going to help your storm chances. It's
just only gonna make it work. So sixty percent chance
of showers and storms today, otherwise mostly sunny with a
high your ninety heat index feels like. Temperature is high
as one oh eight southwest winds five knots, seas around
(01:36:02):
two feet inner coastal water smooth. Tomorrow is sixty percent
chance of showers and storms mostly Sunday. High there eighty
nine Keaton Dexon tight is one oh three southwest winds
five season around two inner coastal water smooth, and then
in the Keys today thirty percent chances of showers and storms.
Most is Sunnay high there ninety one southwest to west
(01:36:23):
winds near five knots becoming west uh seas around a
foot near shorewater smooth. Thirty percent chance of showers and
storms tomorrow and the Keys mostly Sunday with thee hi
there eighty eight west and northwest winds around five knots,
seas one foot or less near shorewater and in Florida
Bay today northwest winds near five knots. Bay water smooth,
(01:36:44):
scattered storms about the same tomorrow southwest to west winds
near five knots. They water smooth, scattered showers and storms
so hot hot, there's not much of a breeze. If
you're going out, it's gonna be black, calm, but it's
gonna be hot. We'll get out.
Speaker 3 (01:37:00):
Jen, you've been a fishing person for a long long time.
You are very accomplished angler just curious. Have you ever
tried any slow pitch or vertical Johnny jigging type fishing before?
Speaker 7 (01:37:11):
M not a lot.
Speaker 37 (01:37:14):
We did vertical jigging with you, I think, didn't we
to catch some little like don't you do that right right.
Speaker 7 (01:37:22):
Over the reefs?
Speaker 3 (01:37:22):
God, that's trip. That trip was but five or six
years ago? I think, yeah, right, that was a way Oh.
Speaker 37 (01:37:27):
No, that was probably ten to twelve years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:37:29):
Oh I'm losing my mind here at myself. Sorry, ten
and twelve years ago, you guys mind? I know, Jen,
that long, just so you know, okay, yeah, we go
way back, man. Yeah, but yeah, it's a fun when
it's fish and under coop and Kayden, we'll get a
blast out of toss.
Speaker 37 (01:37:43):
I got a couple of you would love it, yeah,
because it's it's pretty easy and a quick way to
get some little fish that they can pull up.
Speaker 3 (01:37:50):
Oh wait, Jen, we corrected that one these these dear
Johnny jigs pull up some big fish.
Speaker 4 (01:37:56):
That would be oh they do?
Speaker 6 (01:37:57):
Okay, well I've never done that.
Speaker 5 (01:37:59):
They pull up the You know what the best thing
about jinging is is that you do You grab your rod,
you grab your jigs. There's nothing else and you hit
the water. You can have a travel jingging rod and
fly all over the world, show up to a place
and catch fish because I have caught fish all over
the world on jigs and it's easy. You don't have
(01:38:19):
to You don't have to figure out the bait in
the fishery or where to get bait or even stop
at a tackle shop. You bring your jigs, bring the run,
you go fishing. Take you're done.
Speaker 3 (01:38:29):
Hey, Je checking out some time. Go to check out
to Johnny Jiggs dot com and check them out to
who those laws look like. But I think you have
a great time moment with the kids doing that.
Speaker 37 (01:38:38):
Yeah, totally have to check that out.
Speaker 3 (01:38:40):
But thank you Jet so much. The one the forecasts
too rank and I'm kind of happy with it, but
thank you so very very much.
Speaker 7 (01:38:45):
Thanks Jen a good one.
Speaker 3 (01:38:48):
Let's go to the keys showing kids. I know Johnny
was talking a few minutes ago he'd loved to be
the keys, because I know Johnny used to. Bill's out there.
Speaker 5 (01:38:55):
I know, I'm jealous. Sean Rolls is on the kayak
right now, Benny's in the Bahamas.
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Stuck with us, I stuck.
Speaker 6 (01:39:01):
With you guys.
Speaker 3 (01:39:02):
Yeah, I'm so sorry about that, John.
Speaker 5 (01:39:04):
I'm getting out of here. I'll see you guys later.
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
Yeah, stupid great Johnny, Hey, it's for the twenty minutes.
We've got the Captain Dale, the Keys on.
Speaker 6 (01:39:14):
Hey, Captain deb.
Speaker 45 (01:39:16):
Ye how Bow, he's house gallant.
Speaker 3 (01:39:20):
Johnny loves that. You never get the back on the show.
Johnny get said, he's just happy, but he's gotta be
a smile on his face. Well, we're doing good, dev
it's so clear currently me Rain Lettercurd to Jen Grey Warren.
But how's the keys treating you?
Speaker 45 (01:39:34):
It's hot. Let's just say that it's hot. So I
guess when we're out fishing, he's gotta leave that ac
on and keep that boat moving.
Speaker 6 (01:39:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 45 (01:39:43):
I mean it's been a little bit of cloud cover.
We've got some pop up storms in the afternoon, but overall,
September is really a great month to go fishing, even
for the locals, the people that don't you know, especially
for me being a charter captain and I fish all
the time. I like to go out in September October
and just personal and fun fish myself. So I'm looking
(01:40:04):
forward to that. This week. Finally got the offshore boat going,
so Monday's our first trip out on that so I'm
super excited. I got my little skiff back, so I'm
gonna head up to the Everglades and do some red
fish in the next couple of weeks. So yeah, things
are looking good here.
Speaker 6 (01:40:20):
It's just hot, that's all, you know, Joe Hector, this
is a show.
Speaker 3 (01:40:23):
You've been the quietest thought. I don't happen. Something happened.
You just said you're turning off the volume. That aga
no of every show the last year.
Speaker 6 (01:40:32):
I know because I've just listened.
Speaker 8 (01:40:34):
It seems that we keep going right to time, so
I don't We're just kind of everyone I talk.
Speaker 6 (01:40:38):
It's right at the end usually.
Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
So yeah, the last question you eve, Yeah, the last stinger, Yeah,
the last thinger right, we shall just question fir Yeah,
a sigurte question first, Joe.
Speaker 8 (01:40:49):
All right, Captain dab let's hear about the mutton snapper
and the bottom fishing.
Speaker 3 (01:40:53):
How is it okay?
Speaker 6 (01:40:54):
Cool?
Speaker 45 (01:40:56):
Actually, mutton snapper are starting to come in our ballely
who This is when our valley who start to.
Speaker 6 (01:41:01):
Come in on our patches.
Speaker 45 (01:41:02):
Right now they're kind of in the Biscayne Bay, but
they'll come down into the Keys into the upper Keys
and get on the patches, and then as our cold
front comes, you know, they'll they'll start moving down the keys.
But that's when our mutt snapper fishing here gets really
really good on shallow water. Shallow water mutton fishing anywhere
from twelve feet to fifteen feet to twenty feet is
(01:41:25):
outstanding in the upper Keys this time of year. So yeah,
I mean, mutton staffer's really good this time of year.
Speaker 8 (01:41:33):
And and mangroves, yellow tails, the whole shabam.
Speaker 45 (01:41:37):
Yeah, mangroves are gonna be more. You know, they had
their spine, so they're moving back into the back country,
so you're gonna find your bigger ones back in the
back really not on the reef. Yellowtail has been good.
There's been a really good smorgas bord of fish that
I've seen a lot of these guys catch. They'll go
out and get their tunes in the morning with a
whale full of pilters and get that you have a
(01:41:59):
ten boat let in on tuna here. Make sure you
guys don't put any more than ten on your boat,
even when you have six people on board that or
two per person or two per person, so that's our limits.
Don't need more than that.
Speaker 3 (01:42:15):
Johnny pop a question to call.
Speaker 5 (01:42:18):
I was just wondering about the shallow water snapper. I mean,
are you are you anchoring or you're drifting like live
pilchers or something. What's the what's your game plan whenever
you're in that shallow water looking for muttons?
Speaker 45 (01:42:32):
Well, actually, Johnny, I'm actually sitting on a bait patch
looking for bally hoo. And that's and that's what happens
is when we I use I use a bally hoop net,
a bally hoop to catch my ballot, and it really is.
And I'll just get you know, ten or twenty in
the net. I'll put one through a number two hook
(01:42:53):
on a circle and center down with you know, announced
weight and boom. You know, that's how we catch them.
So all live bait on these muttons. Sometimes you can
catch them with plucks and deeper deeper water, but our
mutton fishing is definitely all live bait, especially here in
the Keys.
Speaker 3 (01:43:11):
I got one last question. Are you a fan of
Johnny jigs? Have you used them before? Cap?
Speaker 45 (01:43:16):
Absolutely so? I want to tell you this so power
cord Rods Warren Page gave me a chicken rod and
he built me a jiggen Rod. I'm so excited. September October,
so I have I have invested in some Johnny jigs myself,
and that's what I do for fun. Is that go
out and I'll do a lot of jig fishing.
Speaker 3 (01:43:38):
How about that Buddy jiggen Rods. She got Johnny jigs.
She's hooked up too. We gotta get to By the way, Debby,
if you ever use those Johnny jigs, will you take
some VID take your phone go horizontally if you would please,
is how Steven can put them on the screen. And
this Shawl's a little of vid of you. Uh with
the Johnny jigs. We'd love to see what you catch
with them.
Speaker 45 (01:43:58):
Absolutely right, absolutely absolutely, Monday is Monday. I'm going I'm
going to do some coin fishing and some other stuff
on Monday. So I'm I'm gonna try him out for sure.
And i haven't even used money Rod yet.
Speaker 3 (01:44:13):
You know this new iPhone sixteen which I'm gonna order
pre order today. By the way, if you think my
fish pictures, by the way, Joe were large before with
his new AI built into the phone, my fish are
gonna be so freaking big you are not gonna believe
it by the time my AI is done. Oh man,

you guys?
Speaker 6 (01:49:59):
What's up?
Speaker 24 (01:49:59):
Bud?
Speaker 3 (01:49:59):
Hey? So our new thing is to take a boat
that you have featured and give it a two week
run because it's really hard to cover a boat. Johnny
and Joe at just one show, yeah, they die a
second play to kind of get the whole thing out there.
Because these boats he features are very special on my dad,
he kind of brought it down a little bit. Joe
to the medium sized buyer. I believe it is. Yeah,
I think that's great. We have the Tidewater twenty three
(01:50:22):
I believe it is, Andrew.
Speaker 56 (01:50:24):
Yeah, that's right, the Tidewater twenty three hundred Carolina Bay
bay Boat, one of the only bay books that we
carry and one of the best ones on the market.
Speaker 3 (01:50:33):
So I'm looking at the screen showing that tide water
scoot across the bay. It looks real great, kind of
a cool boat for the bay. And I'm thinking off short.
Speaker 56 (01:50:43):
Too, right, Yeah, absolutely, Flats Bay offshore boat. Super capable,
you know, like we mentioned last week, it's powered by
the Mercury three hundred Veradoes.
Speaker 26 (01:50:56):
So super fast too.
Speaker 56 (01:50:58):
But we love these tidewaters, like you were saying, you know,
they're geared toward more of the medium consumer and you
get a ton of boat for the money, you really do.
Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
And I'm watching some of the things on the screen.
I liked it with the whole boat looks just the
sheer life looks great, great profile, as well. It's like
it's got a pretty wide open deck Joe Johnny to
fish and not be encumbered with things in your way. Yeah.
I like the finish of the boat. And again we
said this for the medium sized buyer who maybe might
be a first time bona aator. I don't know, it's
like a first time.
Speaker 6 (01:51:28):
That's really dry too. With that why yeah, yeah, Well.
Speaker 56 (01:51:31):
It's got the you know, the Carolina flair to it,
so it's a very dry boat for a bay boat.
Speaker 10 (01:51:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:51:37):
Absolutely, So you got those of stock and aautical ventures
