Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nash Field, Fresh off the stage, Man.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Fresh off the stage. That's right.
Speaker 3 (00:04):
You blow me away every time. When you started hitting
your guitar, you know what's about to go down.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (00:10):
Well.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
The first thing I hug Man, you put me in
the song? I was like, did I.
Speaker 5 (00:14):
We're surrounded by incredible singers, and you know, it's never
a bad thing to be able to sing, and you
can sing. That's another thing to be able to put
someone that hasn't had that experience in the song.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Man. I was battling in there. What song was the
first one? God is good? Or Good God? Good God? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (00:30):
So I mean there was several, but I was there
for a few minutes, like I felt like that was
my experience.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
And so I thought that was a really cool thing.
That's all I got.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
I love your honesty too, when you were saying your
mom passed and Good God is a phenomenal song. But
you talked about it's hard to go to therapy, and
I think that that's so brave for you to say.
One is a man, but as an artist that has
a platform because so many people, especially the holiday season,
are going through I talked to an artist earlier and
(01:00):
he said, this would be the first holiday I have
without this family member.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
And so I think there's healing in your music.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
And when you're talking about the Manu met and therapy,
that song, dude, I mean, you don't.
Speaker 6 (01:10):
Make a bad song like every single one.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
You took up all the stories on my phone, come home,
and all the songs you're singing.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
What led to the choice?
Speaker 5 (01:18):
What was the breaking point I'm gonna try this out,
try the therapy out, therapy out.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Yeah, I was just mad, sad, and I mean there
were so many ways that I was like trying to
cope with things, all on healthy ways, and I just
knew it was time that I needed to, like honestly
just get some help. And it was the best decision
that I've made, and obviously a killer song came out
of it.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
And that's what I'm trying to do with the music.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Man. I'm just like, I'm trying to just be real. Yeah,
I won't talk about therapy. I'm want sorry about things
that I went through and all this.
Speaker 6 (01:46):
Stuff because that's what's relatable to audience.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
I think people wanted that.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
I think they want authenticity and I'm no, no offense
to beers, tractor all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Man, there's a but just not mine.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
So yeah, yeah, Well the flip side of that is
there is there is an upside to that being genuine given,
get it and out and.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Helping people relate to it so that it's not all bad.
It's not all sad.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
That's good and not all your music is sad, like
you have some I'd be And I think it is
so funny because like you're the kind of guy, like
you can be serious and then all of a sudden
you're gonna throw out some jokes. I remember when you
came to the studio, you and Graham were like going
back and forth and I'm.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Like, no, I was not giving you anything. You were
giving me everything. I like, come on now, I can't remember. Yeah,
I can't remember the fun fact about Iris? Did you
give me that? Or did I give you that?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
No, you gave me that respect. Yeah, and then we
went into the small room.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Three for the road.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Yeah. Yeah, So fun fact about Iris which you just covered,
do you want to share because a lot of people
don't know this fun fact?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Remember it?
Speaker 2 (02:40):
The fun fact about Iris that.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Who that song is about? Because it is. Would you
say it's one of the most cover songs ever? It is?
What was it on? That's about Nicholas Cage? Oh that's right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
So it's funny because I met with another person and
they told me another fact about it, but I can't
share that fact.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
But OK, all right, Matt Cooper, there's so many people
that want to talk to you. Thanks for making found please,
Tyler Nance, friend of the show. What's up, Buddy Stranger.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
We don't never see you, man, We haven't.
Speaker 7 (03:11):
We've crossed past, but a few times here in the
past few months, haven't you.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
We have?
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Well, you crushed your performance here. It was so nice
to see everybody else Bard. Some people already knew.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Amazing performance last night, blew this place away.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Thank you. I wanted to know.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
Have you felt is the momentum from what you've been doing?
Have you felt it tangible? Because I feel like at
least once a day someone kind of to me discovers
your music and is like all in on it.
Speaker 7 (03:36):
I mean, it's kind of it's been. It's just all
been kind of.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Have you can you process it all?
Speaker 7 (03:42):
It's hard to process sometimes. Yeah, you know, I appreciate it.
I just take it day by day and I just
all you can do.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Really, yeah, you literally don't need a full band. You
and the violinists. I'm like, oh my gosh, I've never
seen anybody do that. That was the first for me. Yeah,
And I have to say, because I talked about this
on the radio.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
This is the most ah.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
I was talking about it's so cool and it curls
and I was super awkward and uncomfortable, almost like can
I touch it?
Speaker 6 (04:06):
The best mustache and country music?
Speaker 1 (04:08):
I said it.
Speaker 7 (04:09):
I appreciate it. That's a good compliment.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
And then the last thing I will say is and
I think it's a testament to the music I used
to use. Keeps Me saying, as like the intro to
the people, like, oh no, you got to check out
this artist, keeps Me saying, is like our three for
the road.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I'm onto whiskey. Yes, that is now my new intro,
Like you got to check it out. So it's a.
Speaker 8 (04:28):
Movie, man, Yeah, I mean it changes, it changes every day.
But I like how there's several songs that are coming
out of the out of the shadows that people can
find and discover.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
And just if you're in an elevator, and someone asks
you which one are you going with?
Speaker 8 (04:44):
I mean it's got to be keeps me saying, really,
that's that's what you say, Shovel. I mean I do
love Shovel. That song really speaks yeah, volumes.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
But Grandma's great at picking hits.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
And will say last night when you started with the
he I was sitting beside him.
Speaker 6 (04:59):
He said, that's my favorite one, and he pulls out
his phony starts recording.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
So I'm done. We don't need to.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Know.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
I'm saying that song.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
You know, everybody, you got like a million songs, So
thank you for your time.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
You you literally killed it man. Thank yesterday.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
Stephen Wilson Junior the only and we have a limited
amount of time. You've already heard that. I feel like
the music is catching on. When they put a time
cap on getting to hang out with you. Not everybody
gets the tomb count. Now that's great.
Speaker 6 (05:30):
He is your.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Biggest man, and I'm like, WHOA.
Speaker 6 (05:34):
Your voice is amazing.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
And that's why you're here for these awards, because dude,
you are incredible.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Moves off Werewolf and Kid Forever, Thank.
Speaker 9 (05:44):
You very much, very special songs to me.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
And and how does it Feel?
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Does does it feel like because I'm we're looking from
the outside end, does it feel like the appreciation for
your artist coming about?
Speaker 9 (05:55):
Yeah, very much. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (05:56):
I never anticipated it. I didn't think anybody would give
a damn about any of this. I made this record
to keep my dad alive. It was a sonic monument,
a soniument if you will, for him, like just to
try to immortalize him in any way I could. I
he died tragically at fifty nine, and he was very traumatic,
and as a former scientist, I just started keeping track
(06:20):
of everything I was going through and that album is
really a monument for him. And it's, you know, the
great thing about music, It doesn't really decay like most matter.
It's it tends to defy laws of physics and entropy
and thermodynamics and it Yeah, it does not break down,
and I believe it will in a lot of ways
(06:42):
to mortalize him as long as we are a species.
Speaker 6 (06:45):
Yea, Yeah, I just fell in love with you.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
That was the most poetic and beautiful statement I've ever heard.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Wow, great Golden Glove boxer, Like you know.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
You were like you were a boxer before, like your
dad was a boxer, that you were boxing I mean,
and now, musician, that's crazt.
Speaker 9 (07:01):
Well, my first stage was a boxing ring.
Speaker 10 (07:03):
I was a real shy kid and my dad threw
me in the ring when I was about seven years
old and had me fight other kids, and it taught
me how to withstand pressure. Really, that's what it was.
I think he knew a lot of pressure was coming
my way. And yeah, he threw me in the highest
setting you could probably get in and uh.
Speaker 9 (07:21):
And proved to me that I could take it. So here,
I am your dad.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
That lesson seems to be pretty every day, and I'm
sure he is looking at you right here, proud of you.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
And we're proud of you.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
Man.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
It's we were so geeking out.
Speaker 6 (07:34):
I feel like we know your dad because of you, and.
Speaker 9 (07:37):
I'm gonna try to get him in the room tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
We'll see there for sure.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Man, Thank you so much,
