Speaker 1 (00:02):
We are bold. And the morning starts now on 96.9
The Cat. What up, Cat Country? Officially, I believe, to
the best of my knowledge, that we're all back in school.
Everybody has gone back. Everybody is back in the swing
of things, especially teachers. Which brings me to my next point.
Thank a Teacher by Caspies is back. I am biased
because my sister is a teacher. I've had wonderful teachers

(00:24):
in my life that have been very impactful in the
little bit of success. that I've had as a human being. Also,
shout out to my parents. They get most of it.
But we're talking about Thank a Teacher, and now is
your chance to say thanks. So iHeartRadio's Thank a Teacher
is powered by DonorsChoose and Caspi, so you can nominate
an outstanding public school teacher right now who goes above
and beyond for their students, which is you. They could

(00:45):
be one of our $ 5, 000 winners. for classroom supplies and resources.
I mean, teachers do give so much, so it's like
a really cool thing to be able to give back.
Nominate your teacher now at 969thecat. com slash teachers. It's Graham
in the mornings. We are giving away George Burge tickets,
730 Cat Fight, but you got to keep it here
for little Brett Young, Ella Langley, and Luke Bryan all

(01:08):
coming up. And we're rolling. Let 96.9 the cat hear you.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
It's time to sound off cat country with Graham in
the mornings.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Crocs outside your property lawn. Acceptable, not acceptable.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I think it's acceptable. Wear them Crocs wherever you want.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Wear them everywhere.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
So we went to the Luke Bryan show this previous weekend.
Saturday night, Luke put on a great show. I saw
multiple pairs of Crocs rolling around the venue. And I
thought to myself, I feel like pre-COVID because everyone spent
a lot of time at home during COVID. I never
saw Crocs out and about, but I see them everywhere now.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I wish I saw those people at the show. I
would have went up and shook their hands.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Good on you. Crocs, if you're not familiar, I would
imagine most people are familiar with Crocs.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
How would you describe a croc, though?

Speaker 2 (01:56):
So they're like a clog style shoe.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Rubber clog.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, they have like holes in it.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Multifunctional.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah, they're good for anything.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
You can put them in sport mode, like the little
strap backwards and run around if you need to.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
They can go everywhere.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
So do you wear crocs outside of your property line?
Like if you're at home, I totally get it. Do
whatever you want. But outside your driveway, when you leave
the property, are you rocking crocs?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Oh, yeah, I'm rocking crocs.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I even have crocs that have Velcro on the strap,
so you can really get your foot in there.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
You can go hiking in them.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I gave my mom and dad Crocs for Christmas last year.
I do not think that my dad wears them off property,
but if he's at home, he's rocking those Crocs.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, I wear them everywhere.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Sound off 1-800-570-9690. Have we gotten to a place where
Crocs are acceptable off your property?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Wear your Crocs.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Graham in the Mornings, 96.9 The Cat. Time for Did
You Know? With Graham in the Mornings on 96.9 The Cat.
The first webcam was invented to watch a coffee pot.
You heard that correctly. Not streams, not an accounting meeting,
not to check in with your boss, literally to watch coffee.
So for me, I think it was during COVID where
webcams became the new way of living. I was doing

(03:05):
work on a webcam. I was meeting with my family
and visiting with my friends on a webcam. But did
you know the world's very first webcam wasn't created for
business meetings, video calls, community meetings. Back in 1991, a
group of researchers at Cambridge University got tired of walking
to the break room only to find the coffee pot
empty so they pointed a camera at it to let

(03:28):
everyone check it from their desk before walking to the
kitchen and yes of course it evolved into what we
use it as today but it was initially invented to
literally keep everybody informed when the coffee pot was ready
and that's did you know on 96.9 the cat coming
up we got george burge passes 7 30 cat fight
it's graham in the mornings What's the Carolinas talking about today?

Speaker 2 (03:52):
It's your top three on Graham.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
In the Mornings. On 96.9 The Cat. I have been
stung by this bee in Los Angeles, and I refuse
to let it happen to you here in Charlotte. Quick
heads up if you got a big truck or SUV,
because I do drive a big truck, and this is
what cost me several hundred dollars in Los Angeles. Charlotte
recently updated its parking rules, and if your vehicle is

(04:15):
sticking out across the sidewalk... At the end of your driveway,
you could end up with a ticket. I didn't know
that was a thing, but it is. Ted Lasso is
officially back. We're going to switch from bad news to
great news. One of the biggest feel-good shows in the
last decade is back, Barbecue Sauce. And if you get
that reference, we're homies. And if you don't get that reference,
watch Ted Lasso, thank me later. New episodes every Wednesday

(04:38):
night on Apple TV. Honestly, I think it's one of
the most underrated TV shows out right now. And speaking
of underrated, looks like Charlotte is underrated. People are always
talking about Nashville, Austin, multiple cities in Florida. Well, a
new survey says Charlotte might actually be the most underrated
city in America. The report highlighted everything from the job market...

(04:59):
To grow to the food scene, quality of life, professional
sports team. Shout out to the Hurricanes winning the Stanley Cup.
Panthers winning the division and hosting a home game last year.
Possibly getting a Major League Baseball team. It's going to
be here or Raleigh, one of the two. But moral
of the story, Charlotte's where it's at. Let's go. That's
your top three on 96.9 The Cat. George Burge passes

(05:20):
coming up. Cat fight, 7.30 on Graham in the Mornings.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
It's time for Cat Fight.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
With Graham in the mornings. Monica out of Midland. Welcome
to Graham in the mornings. Good morning. Good morning. And Julie,
I've been told that you're calling straight from the bed.
I am.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Just got my cup of coffee in. Yeah, good morning
to you, Julie.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Good morning. Welcome. We got George Burge tickets on the line.
And speaking of coffee, I don't know if you caught
Did You Know, but did you know that a coffee
pot led to the invention of the webcam? Did it really?
It did.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Obviously, we don't listen to the show, producer Hunter. I've
been busy this morning. All of the trivia questions today
revolve around popular drinks. Are you ready? Yes. Ready. What
thick frozen drink is typically made with ice cream, milk,
flavors like chocolate, strawberry? Julie.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
Julie?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Milkshake.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Milkshake is correct. What sports drink is famous for replacing electrolytes?
Comes in colors like orange, blue. Monica. Monica. Gatorade. Gatorade. Gatorade.
All right. You need two to win. It's one to one.
George Burge passes on the line. It all comes down
to this, Producer Hunter. Let's go. Producer Hunter, you know

(06:37):
nothing about this. That's one clue. What popular drink is
made from grapes and can be red, white, sparkling? I
think that was Julie. Julie. Julie.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Oh, I got it.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Wine is correct.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
That was a close one.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
That was a close one. And honestly, if you have
any issues, you got to go to the judge.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Producer Hunter is the judge. Just by a little bit, Julie. Congratulations.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Monica, thanks for playing. All right. Thank you. Thank you.
Have fun. Julie's got one eye open and going to
George Burge already. It's going to be a good day.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Oh, my God. Thanks. And first-time player, correct? It is. Well, congratulations.
We'll see you at the show. 96 Minutes nonstop cat
country rolls on. We are going to keep these phone
lines open. Shout out to everybody that called in. We
do have more passes to give away all week long
to George Burge. But sound off.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
1-800-570-9690.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Wearing crocs out in public is this socially acceptable we're
going to discuss i saw a ton of them out
at the luke bryan show last weekend and it got
me to thinking like are crocs totally cool to just
wear out past the property line of your driveway at
home it's 96 minutes non-stop cat country sound off give
us a call.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Good morning gram b this is renee from gastonia um
As far as props are concerned, I feel like, yeah,
I mean, wear them.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
They're comfortable anywhere you go.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
I wear them to work. They've kind of taken the
place of the flip-flop. If you ask me. Okay, Crocs
out in the wild. Renee is saying yes. That is
along the lines of what you're thinking.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Honestly, I love the point that they have overtaken the
flip-flop because for me, they really have. I haven't wore
flip-flops in a long time because I just throw on
a pair of Crocs if I want to go out
and do something like that.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Yeah, I think my point remains true of flip-flops as well.
Like when you go to a concert, I guess it's
more socially acceptable, but just because flip-flops have been around
a lot longer. Yeah. But they're still in the same vein,
so I can totally see where they replace flip-flops.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
But socially, are we there where it's okay to just
wear them anywhere?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
I think you can dress them up pretty good if
you put some work into it.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
So we loaded it to our stories. I think you'd
be shocked at the percentages of votes. Are crocs socially
acceptable out in the wild or are they not? Do
you want to take a guess before I reveal to
you where we stand right now? And you can still vote.
This is up on the story. So if you want
to weigh in or you have something you want to
get onto the show, you can also do it via

(09:07):
our Instagram story. We check it. We're going to load
it up.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Let me guess, there's a lot of no's on there.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
There's a ton of no's.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Is there really?

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Which I was surprised at how lopsided. Right now it's
sitting at like 80% no. Is it really? 20% yes.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
I figured that was the case, but it still kind
of surprises me because.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
I think it's acceptable.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Well, you would be in the minority. I guess I am.
96 Minutes, nonstop cat country. Crocs not acceptable. Ashley from Huntersville,
sound off. Crocs in the wild.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Yeah, so I would say they're acceptable for like the
lake or the beach, maybe the grocery store, but definitely
not like going out to a concert or anything.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
I would never wear them there.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
See, I like where Ashley's head's at. That's an appropriate
compromise to me because it seems like there's water involved
in both examples yeah there's definitely not water involved at
a concert and i even i can get behind don't
wear them to a concert but no no no don't
back the bus up now producer hunter i.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Mean no it's a little out there but i will
wear crocs pretty much everywhere i.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Go though ashley question for you what is the most
formal place where is that line is it the grocery
store where you're like i can't go any further than
that Probably like the grocery store, yeah. Agreed. I'm in.
I'm in on the grocery store. You're comfortable.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
You're running an errand.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
It's fine. Anything past that, keep the Crocs at home.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
I think I wore Crocs to church.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
I'm not even going to lie.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Come on now.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Hey, come on now.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Hang on. All right.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Ashley's going to co-host the rest of this show. Ashley,
thanks so much for calling in. Thank you. You guys
have a great one. You too. 96 minutes, nonstop cat
country coming up in three songs. We got Producer Hunter's
Riddle Challenge. Today's riddle, what is the difference between a
jailer and a jeweler? What is the difference between a

(10:54):
jailer and a jeweler? Your answer coming up in three songs.
It's 96.9 The Cat. You're hanging out with Graham in
the mornings.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
On Graham in the Mornings, we really make you think.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
It's Producer Hunter's Riddle Challenge on 96.9 The Cat. What's
the difference between a jailer and a jeweler? It's Producer
Hunter's Riddle Challenge. That one's a tough one. It is
a tough one.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
You gave me a little bit of a warning, said
today's is going to be tough.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Well, it is. Yeah, usually we go tough on Monday,
and then we kind of downshift because we like to
end the week on positive notes. I feel like this
is one of the harder ones we've done in a while.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Yeah, but that's okay. I love a good challenge. So
it's not the spelling.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
What's the difference between a jailer and a jeweler?

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Jailer and a jeweler. You stress those words a little bit.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
Well, they sound alike.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
So the clue that I'll give you is a jeweler
sells watches. Okay.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Jeweler sells watches. They both deal with sales.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
They do. You're on the right path.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
So like the jailer has sales, like jail sales, and
the jeweler sells stuff.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
So they both sell.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
You're on it.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
So it's in that vein.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
It's in that vein. You're right on it, which is great. Okay.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
I'm close.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
So a jailer, they watch sales.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Yes. There we go. There we go.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
And then the jeweler sells watches?

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Is that it?

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
That was a tough one.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
That was so tough. Hey, I'm proud of you.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
But, you know, you had to, like, the sale thing,
it kind of just opened it up for me.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
So a jailer watches sales and a jeweler sells watches.
It's Producer Hunter's Riddle Challenge. Great job. Yes. Yes.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Time for some good news with Graham in the Mornings.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
I need.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Some good news.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
On 96.9 The Cat. Shout out to the Exponential Scholars nonprofit.
They just donated $ 2. 25 million to fund every open North
Carolina classroom project on DonorsChoose. That means more than 3,200
teacher requests across the state of North Carolina, including right
here in our area, are getting paid for. Books, classroom supplies,

(13:09):
learning tools, classroom equipment, all the things teachers often end
up buying with their own money. But now, thanks to
exponential scholars, a whole lot of North Carolina students and
teachers are starting the school year with exactly what they
asked for. And that's your good news on 96.9 The Cat.
And you can always give us your good news via
the iHeartRadio app. The app is free. Make 96.9 The
