Speaker 1 (00:01):
Let's do it. We are home. Ram in the Morning
starts now on 96.9 The Cat. Can we all agree
that no one told Mother Nature that it's September? I
don't know about you, but when the thermometer is pushing
the upper 90s and it feels even hotter, We're outside.
I'm calling it a heat wave. And today it looks
like it's going to be around 96, close to 98 tomorrow.
(00:22):
Flirting with 98 again on Saturday. Carolina, what's going on?
Last night, I apologize, but I got outside to load
up our sound off a little bit later than usual.
And I was sitting on my front porch. And I
intentionally put the temperature in the story because I could
not believe how hot it was at 9 p.m. It
was almost 90 degrees. Like, what is going on? So
(00:43):
if you're making plans this weekend, I'm not a weatherman,
but it remains in the high 90s, 96, 97, 98,
through the weekend. It is supposed to rain here in
the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area on Saturday, so we will get a
little bit of relief. But hoodie weather's been put off
for another couple weeks because the heat wave just ain't stopping.
But back to our sound off. We did load it
up to Instagram, our show page, Graham in the Mornings.
(01:05):
White shoes on a first date. And I know what
you're thinking, like white shoes, white dress shoes. No, no, no.
White tennis shoes. White tennis shoes on a first date. Acceptable,
not acceptable. Phone lines are open all show long. 1-800-570-9690.
Or you can always weigh in on our show page
over on Instagram, Graham in the Mornings. Or just leave
us a talk back. It's 96.9 The Cat. Or did
(01:27):
you know? With Graham in the mornings on 96.9 The Cat.
One of the biggest rivalries in sportswear actually started with
two brothers and it was a family feud. So back
in Germany, Adolf and Rudolf Dassler ran a shoe company together.
But after a major falling out. The brothers split the
business and went their separate ways. Now, usually you see
that and everything crumbles. Well, Adolf, nicknamed Addy, started Adidas
(01:50):
while Rudolph went on to create Puma. The brothers became
fierce competitors and in their hometown. I mean, I can't
prove this, but the story does go. that people were
so divided in their small hometown that everyone would look
at each other's shoes and decide whether they wanted to
interact or speak to that person on the street, depending
on if they were wearing Puma or Adidas. Talk about
brand loyalty. So the next time you got a pair
(02:12):
of Adidas or Pumas on, just know you're wearing a
part of a family feud that changed the shoe industry forever.
And that's Did You Know on 96.9 The Cat. Well,
we aren't feuding, but we are playing Cat Fight at 7.30.
We're giving away a family four-pack, speaking of family. To
Disney on ice. Keep us locked. You're hanging out with
Graham in the mornings. What's the Carolinas talking about today?
(02:35):
It's your top three on Graham in the mornings. On 96.9
The Cat. Doubling down on Charlotte's fall festival season. Now
it's officially here. Matthews Alive takes over downtown Matthews this weekend.
It's just the start of a packed month of festivals,
live music, great food, football, all of it going down
in the Charlotte area. And if you're over this heat, yeah,
welcome to the club. I got good news for us all.
(02:57):
Now we're looking at highs near 98 through Saturday, but
the cool down is expected by Sunday with temperatures dropping
into the 80s after we get some rain. Into the
evening on Saturday night. Now, that could change, and I'm
not a meteorologist, but I need some hope. I'm done
with this heat. I mean, it's September already. And wrapping
things up, Discovery Place Science in Uptown Charlotte, they're hosting
(03:17):
Brick Master Studio, which is a giant Lego exhibit featuring
more than 100 sculptures built from over 2 million Lego bricks.
Producer Hunter's going to lose his mind when he hears
this story. Admission and tickets can be purchased online at discoveryplace.org
or at the museum box office. And that's your top
three on 96.9 The Cat. Coming up, we got a
family four-pack of Disney on ice to give away 730
(03:40):
Cat Fight right here on Graham in the Mornings. It's
time for Cat Fight. With Graham in the Mornings. Courtney
out of Stanley versus Marie out of Edgemoor, South Carolina.
Welcome to Graham in the Mornings. Hello. Hello. Hello. It's
Throwback Thursday, Producer Hunter. Let's go, Throwback Thursday. Are you
seeing a smile on my face? Yes. We are giving
(04:02):
away a family four-pack to Disney on Ice at the
Bojangles Center. Yes. So we're going to do throwback questions
about iconic, original Disney characters. Oh, yes. Let's go. Courtney Marie,
you guys ready? Oh, gosh, yes. Ready. I am an
iconic Disney character that never grows up. Marie.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Marie.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Peter Pan. Peter Pan, Marie on the board. Off the
top real quick. That's right. That's a good one to
start with, too. I'm known for my bad temper, and
I wear a sailor outfit. He's also my favorite character. Courtney. Courtney.
Never mind. Wrong one. All right. Marie, would you like
to steal? You got three seconds. One, two, three. Three.
(04:46):
Donald Duck. Donald Duck.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
My favorite. Yeah. Did you ever have the Donald Duck
orange juice? My grandma used to buy it for me
all the time. I haven't had that. Oh, man. I
don't know if they still make it, but throwback Thursday,
I got to find it. What do you find it?
I wanted to be a part of your world. A
whole new world. If you don't get that hint. Guys, Ariel.
I wanted to be a part of your world.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
All right. This one is an easy one. I lost
a glass slipper at midnight.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Marie.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Courtney.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Marie.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Cinderella. Cinderella. There we go. The classic. The classic. That's
two for Marie, right? That is two for Marie. Marie,
you're going to Disney on Ice. You can take three
of your friends. Courtney, we still love you, and we
definitely love Stanley. Okay. Did I not give the whole world?
You sung so well. Man, I thought I nailed that.
Wasn't there Little Mermaid? Thank you, ladies. Thank you. Phone
(05:43):
lines are going to stay open. 96 minutes, nonstop cat country.
Sound off. I went on a date. Now, this is
a while ago, but it still resonates with me because
I heard a story about first dates the other day.
Wearing white shoes. Now, tennis shoes, whatever they may be,
whatever brand, I don't care. But is it a social
faux pas to show up in white tennis shoes for
a first date? Sound off. 1-800-570-9690. Full story coming up
(06:06):
in two songs. You'll be shocked at the reaction I
got when I showed up. It's 96.9 The Cat.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
It's time to sound off cat country with graham in
the mornings.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
White shoes on a first date yay or nay sound
off i don't care yeah is that an option i
was the same way i went on a first date
and i was wearing these shoes that i got on
this is why it came to mind they're wolf and
shepherd which i think is a fairly nice brand those
are nice shoes yeah and they're kind of dressy tennis
shoes but they're comfortable yeah and i was told oh
(06:38):
you wore white shoes to our date and i thought
oh is that a thing like is that is that
not socially acceptable someone mentioned your shoes on a date
my date at the time because there were.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
White shoes yeah what have you ever heard that i
have never heard that is that a problem i feel
like we might be in the minority here because i
was as shocked as you are there's no way Yeah,
I'm telling you.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
There's no way that's a thing. Sound off. Give us
a call. Are we out of the blue here? We
must be. 1-800-570-9690. Is that a rule of thumb? Is
that like an unspoken rule? You don't wear white shoes
to a first date? That's crazy. That's crazy. Sound off.
Or leave us a talk back on the free iHeartRadio app.
Phone lines are open during the show, but you can
(07:19):
leave us that talk back at any point. Sound off. 96.9.
I know something's going on. Producer Hunter is in the
best mood possible. He keeps cackling and laughing over there.
What's up, man? I got something to play for you.
All right, hit me. Granby, a whole new world is Aladdin,
not Little Mermaid. Come on, man. Drag him. Drag him now.
(07:40):
So I feel kind of good. There's two sides to
this coin. I was a little disappointed. I thought it
was my singing. It wasn't my singing. Yeah, it wasn't
your singing. Yeah, it was just that the clue didn't
match the question. Now, I will say in my defense,
the question was still correct. It was correct, yes. I
want to be a part of your world is something
that Ariel did say in that movie. Now, me singing
the clue, that was... I was trying to go the
(08:03):
extra mile. Yeah, you were. It was great singing, too,
by the way. It was great singing. I do want
to say a special shout-out to Brandi from Charlotte. We
lost her. She called in. We had some fun with it.
I was just trying to help. You were just trying
to help. I love it. And I got a chance
to sing a little bit. Yeah, absolutely. I still love Disney.
We got another family four-pack to Disney on ice at
the Bojangles Center tomorrow. I'll make sure that all the clues...
(08:27):
Are sung correctly. Yes. Grabbing the warnings. White shoes on
a first date. Shane out of Shelby on the line.
What up, brother? How we doing this morning, sir? We're
doing great. So, listen, I've got a pair that I've
had for a while and they only get brought out
for a first date and they are white. They do
not get dirty. As soon as I wear them, I
(08:49):
bring them home and I clean them right back up. Now,
I will say mine and producer Hunter's song were a
little worn, but they were still clean-ish. I mean, they
were nice shoes, but I had just never heard that.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Yeah, they were still very nice shoes. I've never heard
that anybody's had an issue with it. Shane, it seems
like you wear white shoes on every first date. Yeah,
because it's like if they look down and they see
a nice icy white pair of shoes, they're like, okay, this.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Guy's kind of clean. He cares about himself. So, yeah,
it kind of portrays our cleanliness side. Icy. Well, love it.
Always good to hear your voice, Shane. Sound off. White
shoes on a first date. 1-800-570-9690. Weigh in on Instagram.
Join our page. It is brand new. Gram of the
Morning's over on Insta. Or leave us a talkback. Sound off.
(09:36):
It's 96 minutes. Non-stop cat country. 96 minutes non-stop cat
country watched ted lasso last night love that show did
you i love ted lasso okay so i got your
riddle from ted lasso last night oh did you really
did you watch the episode i didn't watch the episode
that's a good thing the reason i brought that up
is because if you had seen it i would have
had to pick a different riddle yeah i haven't seen
it so it's great the more you take the more
(09:58):
you leave courtesy of ted lasso for producer hunter's riddle
challenge i'm gonna give you three songs okay sounds good
answer coming up in three songs the more you take
the more you leave behind it's producer hunter's riddle challenge
On Graham in the Mornings, we really make you think.
It's Producer Hunter's Riddle Challenge on 96.9 The Cat. The
(10:21):
more you take, the more you leave. Courtesy of Ted Lasso,
mind you. I know, that's awesome it's from Ted Lasso.
I love that show. So that is your riddle. The
more you take, the more you leave. And are we
betting lunch today or no? I still didn't get you
lunch from the other day. Yeah, that's right. So you
still owe me Whataburger. And honestly, it's not a hefty thing.
You can get the sandwich I want for less than
(10:41):
$ 4 on that Morph of Four menu.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Yeah, and unfortunately, they brought more food in earlier in
the week, and I wasn't able to use that for
our lunch bet. So I still have to go to
a Whataburger.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
It's $ 4. And honestly, if you don't get it right today,
add the $ 3 for the fries and the drink. You
know what I mean? Make a meal of it.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Okay, back to the riddle. The more you take, the
more you leave.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
The more you take, the more you leave. Is there
any hint that I can get attached to this? I
know I put you on the spot with that.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Yeah, the first thing that comes to mind is you
see these at the beach right next to where the
waves crash.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
The more you take, the more you leave. And they're
on the beach where the waves crash.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
They're everywhere, but you see them visually at the beach
walking in the sand. Walking in the sand. Okay. Is
it a crab? It's not a crab. It's footsteps. The
more you take, the more you leave.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Do you see that graphic at the beach as you're walking? Yes. Okay.
Ted Lasso. Ted Lasso. Gotta love it. Love that show. Also,
Sound Off. love first dates white shoes socially acceptable i
went on a date and i was judged pretty harshly
for showing up in white shoes 1-800-570-9690 is that justified
(11:57):
white shoes on a first date is that okay is
it not okay sound off you can always chime in
on instagram on our show page grab in the mornings
or leave us a talk back on the free iheart
radio app sound off Talking about white shoes on a
first date. Sound off. Are they acceptable? Got my boy
Randall from Plaza Appliance Mart on the line. Yo, what's up, man? Graham,
how's it going, brother? Nothing much. I'm just trying to
(12:17):
figure out why this girl on this date was judging
me for my white shoes. Yeah, I think it's, you know,
that's kind of shallow, but... Yeah, so she might not
be the one for me, right, Randall?
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Right, right, right.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
My whole thing is it's hard enough to connect with people,
let alone know what to wear. Right, right. Yeah, if
you're going to pick me apart on my shoes, that's
not a good time. Randall, appreciate you, brother. Thanks for
calling in. Also, I'm going to see you soon. I
got to replace a beverage fridge, or I think that's
what they call them. Is Plaza Appliance Mart running any
(12:49):
Labor Day sales or anything? What you guys got going
on over there? We have a lot of sales going on,
but we've also got scratch and dent appliances. We've got
things 50% off.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
We've got undercounter refrigerators like you're looking for that will
replace that one that's busted.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
We've got everything you need. Just come by and see us.
I love it. I'll be in this weekend, brother. Thanks
for calling in. 96 minutes, nonstop cat country rolls right
on along. Sound off or weigh in via the iHeartRadio app.
Hit that red microphone icon, upper right-hand corner, and leave
us a talkback. White shoes on a first date. Sound off.
It's 96.9 The Cat. Time for some good news with
(13:25):
Graham in the mornings. I need some good news. On 96.9
The Cat. More than 900 local veterans and their family
members recently got connected with benefits, resources, and support through
a special outreach event right here in our community. County
leaders say that can be more than $ 122, 000 in additional
benefits going back to veterans every single year. Just a
(13:48):
really cool reminder when people come together and help those
that served our country, it can make a real difference.
And that's your good news on 96.9 The Cats. Scram
in the mornings. white shoes on a first date phone
lines are open during the show all the time but
you can always leave us a talk back sound off
white shoes on a first.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Date grandma had to say they're rallying behind you hear
these graham.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Everybody seems to have an opinion these days so i'm
just gonna say the red flag might just be your
date bye have a great day i.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Hope you left After she mentioned your shoes, I'd have
left immediately without her.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
I love that. All right, so I believe, because that
voice sounds very familiar, that's one of my closest friends
from high school. Yeah, really. Hey, shout out to my boy, Keith.
I did not leave, but that is hilarious. I love that, though. Honestly,
you probably should have. I hope you left. I do
feel vindicated a little bit.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yeah, you've had a lot of support today, which honestly,
that makes sense because who looks at your shoes on
a date?
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Oh, my goodness. Well, I don't want to get into
it too much, but I did walk to the kitchen
to get some coffee, and I told you this off air.
I'm going to reiterate it. The women and girls that
work here that are our friends were making fun of
me and also saying that you should never do it. Wild, wild.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Wild.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
So wild. So I still feel like it's up in
the air. You think you know your coworkers. You think
you know someone. Behind our backs, too. Behind our backs.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Crazy.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Coming up, we're giving away the keyword to the iHeartRadio
Festival out in Las Vegas. We're going to take care
of the plane flights. Aren't we taking care of the
hotel stay? That's right.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
And we give you $ 1, 000 walking around cash, too.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yeah, you can wear whatever color shoes you want, but
you got to keep it locked right here and listen
for the keyword. Good luck. It's 96.9 The Cat.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
It's time to sound off Cat Country with Graham in
the mornings.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
White shoes on a first date or a date ever,
but this happened on a first date. Is it acceptable?
Sound off. I don't know who you're dating, Graham, but
that is crazy that somebody would comment on your shoes.
I mean, white is acceptable. You can wear white shoes, honestly,
whenever you want. So I think that's just crazy. Good morning,
(15:56):
Graham B. And 96.9, the Cat family. Well, not only
on a first date is it not acceptable, but it
is never.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Acceptable to wear white shoes or a white belt.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Never, never, never acceptable. Just when I start feeling good,
Doyle off the top rope. Don't ever wear white shoes.
Three nevers, too. Never, never, never. And the white belt.
I didn't even know that. I guess that's a good note. Yeah,
I would agree. I don't even own a white belt.
Probably never will wear a white belt unless it's for
a Halloween costume or something. Like maybe golfing, I guess.
(16:31):
White belts on a golf course.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
I love Doyle, but I'm going to have to disagree
with him.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
I think you're fine. Yeah, so Doyle and our coworkers here. Yeah. Yeah, right? Yeah,
it's still up in the air. You can still weigh
in over on Instagram, our show page, Graham in the Morning.
It's going to be up all day long. White shoes
on dates, specifically your first date. Who would have thought?
Who would have thought? Coming up, more chances to be
