Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
We are gone.
Speaker 3 (00:03):
Graham in the Morning starts now on 96.9 The Cat.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
We did it. We made it to Friday. Three-day weekend, hopefully.
I'm not assuming. Some are working on Monday, and if
you are, you can still hang out with us. Producer
Hunter and I are going to be in here doing
the show on Labor Day, but it's going to be
music intensive, and all weekend long, we're going to be
celebrating Carolina country. So every hour. We're going to be
playing an artist right here from our backyard in North Carolina.
(00:28):
Stand up. A case could be made. Now, if you
start at the top of the list, a very strong
case could be made that North Carolina has had as
much influence as any other state in the history of
country music. I mean, even if you start with the obvious,
Eric Church, Granite Falls, North Carolina, Luke Combs, right here
out of Charlotte, raised in Asheville, Randy Travis, Marshville, Charlie Daniels,
(00:49):
born in Wilmington. I mean... Ronnie Millsap was born in Robbinsville,
I believe. So we're celebrating Carolina country all weekend long.
We are going to be playing Carolina country music artists
every hour. It's 96.9 The Cat. Happy Friday and happy
Labor Day weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Your sports news in 60 seconds it's your sports minute
with graham in the mornings on 96.9 the.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Cat college football is officially back in full swing now
we did have week zero last week but it's week
one and if you're anything like me you've been counting
down the days really good in-state matchups this saturday charlotte
heads to chapel hill to take on north carolina ecu
travels to raleigh for a matchup with nc state And
then our boys, the Mountaineers, they get their home opener
up in Boone. They're taking on Maine. I'm going to
(01:35):
try to make it up the mountain to see that game.
Love App State. But the game of the weekend's got
to be Clemson and LSU Saturday night primetime. Clemson comes
into the season unranked. That's wild to me. Unranked. First
time since 2011. And the first time under Dabo Sweeney
that they start the season outside looking in of the
top 25. Going to be a statement game, so good
(01:55):
luck to the Clemson Tigers. Kickoff set for 730 ABC.
Anyone that called me about playing Saturday night, cancel them
because I'm going to be staying up late watching Clemson
get the upset. But then back up early Sunday morning
here at 96.9 The Cat, and we're going to continue
our Carolina Country Weekend, which means we're highlighting country music
artists born right here in our home state of North Carolina.
So every hour, we're going to be playing one of
(02:17):
those artists all weekend long. And that's your Sports Minute
on 96.9 The Cat. Happy Labor Day weekend. What's the
Carolinas talking about today?
Speaker 3 (02:27):
It's your top three on Graham in the Mornings.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
On 96.9 The Cat. College football week one is here.
We got a big one Saturday night. Clemson fans heading
to LSU. So Tigers versus the Tigers. And for the
first time in Dabo Sweeney's time there, Clemson starts the
season outside the top 25. But all that means is
table set for a statement game Saturday night. Now, if
college football is not dominating your Saturday and you're going
(02:52):
to be outdoors this weekend, county health officials are encouraging
everyone to take some extra precaution against mosquitoes. With the
heat and the moisture, we are getting storms Saturday and Sunday.
They're going to be a little worse than usual. So
take some bug spray. I know that sounds like a parent,
but the last thing you want is to get eaten
alive by mosquitoes. I cannot stand. mosquitoes and a really
cool story developing out of the unc charlotte botanical gardens
(03:14):
they got a colorful flower that's getting a ton of
attention because it was inspired by none other than dolly
parton it's bright it's fun it's very dolly and it
gives you a unique local stop if you're looking to
get out of the house maybe break up the college
football weekend just saying it's an option out there the
unc charlotte botanical gardens they got a dolly flower i'm
all in That's your top three on 96.9 The Cat.
(03:37):

know that you're going to be working, but, you know, sorry.
You know, it is what it is. But Crystal and Brittany,
(04:20):

knowledge about holidays. Okay.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (04:28):

their name first.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Okay. This holiday always falls on a Thursday.
Speaker 2 (04:35):

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Brittany.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Correct. Nice. See, that was an easy one, but I
stopped it early. So it was kind of a spin.
That's right. You know, it's like the buzzers.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
You got to buzz in quick.
Speaker 1 (04:45):

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Let's go. Hey, Bailey. Say hey. We have a big
Disney fan over here. What's Bailey's favorite Disney character? Minnie.
Minnie and Pluto.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
Minnie and Pluto. Very good picks right there.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah, hard to argue. Yeah, hard to argue. Hard to argue. Well,
thanks for playing. Congratulations.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
96 Minutes, nonstop cat country. Phone line's going to continue
to be open because we got sound off. extended warranties
are you an extended warranty person does it say something
about you the way you live your life do you
roll the dice like producer hunter give us a call
1-800-570-9690 sound off do you take or do you buy
the extended warranty and if you don't what does that
(06:14):
say about how you live your life sound off And
we're rolling. Let 96.9 The Cat hear you.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
It's time to sound off Cat Country with Graham in
the mornings.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Extended warranties. Do you buy them? I don't. You don't?
I don't. So you're a grippity-rippity. You're a rebel. You're
out there. You're not worried about it.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
Yeah, I'm not worried about it. Here recently, I bought
a washing machine. It was going to be $ 130 extra
to get a five-year extended warranty.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
I'm not doing that. My washing machine just broke. I've
taken it apart with my dad. Five times can't fix it.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
Really?
Speaker 1 (06:50):
I did buy a new home. The dishwasher came with
it I would have bought the extended warranty because I
cannot fix this thing for the life of me.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
Okay So what's your philosophy? What do you get them for?
What do you just leave them alone?
Speaker 1 (07:02):
So I will go ahead and get the extended warranties
on things that I use daily because I feel like
they'll burn out or Things I know that I cannot fix.
There's a few things that I can take apart and
And I can put back together and kind of figure
things out and maybe have a chance to fix it.
I'm not saying all the time. Those things, I don't
get the extended warranty because I feel like, okay, I
(07:22):
can figure that out. If I can't put it back together,
then I get the extended warranty.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Interesting. Maybe I need to change up my philosophy here.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah, I don't know. I mean, the oven. Do you
cook a ton? Yeah, we cook a ton. Okay, well,
you might want the extended warranty. I do not cook
a ton. I wish I did.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
But I wouldn't get the extended warranty on it because
I don't use it much.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Interesting. Usually I'm a no across the board.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Sound off. Do you buy extended warranties?
Speaker 4 (07:46):
1-800-570-9690.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Gram in the mornings. Phone lines are open. Sound off.
Chime in. Extended warranties. Extended warranties. Who's on the cat phone?
Speaker 5 (07:55):
My name's Heather.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Heather, where are you calling from?
Speaker 5 (07:58):
Greenville, North Carolina.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Do you take or do you buy the extended warranties? No. No, okay.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
So what's the thought process behind that?
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Because I'm also a no.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
I just don't feel like I need it.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Living life on the edge. Look at Heather out here.
Heather's a rebel. Thanks for calling in, Heather. All right.
And I feel like this is not representing you and I,
because I feel like I'm more of a rebel in
my life than you are. But you are more of
a rebel.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
When it comes to extended warranties, I.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Am the rebel.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
I would say of the two of us, you are,
I hate to say this, probably the more mature one.
And like do things that are calculated. Me, I just
kind of randomly live my life and like I'm like, oh,
it'll work out. I mean, that's fine. Maybe it's different
because I'm going to get the extended warranty. Yeah, I
don't know.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
Maybe on some things it's flipped.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
I don't know. Sound off 1-800-570-9690. Are you like Producer
Hunter and just a rebel? Throw caution to the wind?
That's right. And no extended warranties? Give us a call.
Weigh in. Sound off. Rebecca from Indian Trail. Sound off.
Extended warranties. You for them? You against them? What are
you thinking?
Speaker 4 (09:04):
I'm against them.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Against them? Yes.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Yes, because usually it goes through some sort of insurance
company like Assurance or something like that. And then it's
an act of Congress to get them to cover what
you need them to cover.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Okay, well, that's a very highly technical answer, all of
which goes above producer Hunter and I's head. I'll break
it down for you. So are you a rebel in
your life? Do you feel like you take risk very easily?
Because I'm finding out. I guess Producer Hunter is.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
No, I'm not. But I just know I've dealt with
things like that before. And I just know what you
have to go through. And it's not worth it for me.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Rebecca just doesn't want the headache, Graham. She doesn't want
to have to deal with all that.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
It's all a scam anyways. Yeah, see, I can't relate
to that because I feel like she gave a highly
intellectual answer. And it's probably all true, and I blindly trust.
I would not buy the extended warranty on her point
because I think it's right.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
With all the people that you know if something's wrong
with something i'm sure you can find somebody that knows
enough about.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
It to fix it for you Honestly, I don't even
have to leave my house. My dad can fix anything.
There you go. It's wild. That's it. That's it. I know,
but I'm a grown man. It's like, hey, dad, can
you come fix my dishwasher? Rebecca, I feel terrible doing that.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
No, that's what you got to do.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Hey, Pop, I know you're listening, and you can blame
Rebecca for the calls you're about to get. That's right.
I'll take it.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
I'll take it.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Rebecca, you're the best. Have a great holiday weekend.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
All right, you too, guys.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Have fun.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
See you, Rebecca. Later, Rebecca. Bye. My dad's going to
be calling Rebecca. What'd you do? Why'd you tell him that?
Sound off. Extended warranties. What does it say about you
and how you live your life? Are you for them?
Are you against them? Sound off. Give us a call.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
1-800-570-9690.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Or weigh in on the iHeartRadio app. You can leave
us a talkback at any point in time. It's 96.9
The Cap. Perfect way to kick off Carolina Country Weekend,
our boy Luke Combs.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
I know, that's our App State boy right there, Luke Combs.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Let's go. 96 minutes, nonstop, Cat Country. We will be
playing Carolina Country Artist every hour, every day, all Labor
Day weekend. I know, that's so cool. The more of
me there is, the less of me you see. What
am I? It's Producer Hunter's Riddle Challenge. Okay. Sounds good.
I'm going to give you a few songs, but that's
the riddle. One more time. The more of me there is,
(11:24):
the less of me you see. What am I? All right.
It's Graham in the mornings. On Graham in the mornings,
we really make you think.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
It's producer Hunter's riddle challenge on 96.9 The Cat.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
The more of me there is, the less you see.
What am I? Is it... I don't know if this
is going to be right. You got to end the
week on a hot streak. Come on now. Usually you're
good on Fridays because you don't like going into the
weekend feeling like, you know.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Is it nighttime? Okay, the answer is darkness, so that counts. Okay,
all right. We'll take it. There you go. The more
of me there is, so the more nighttime or darkness,
the less you see, which that counts.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Makes sense.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Zoot your hunter for the win. I love that.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
On a Friday.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Carolina country weekend rolls right on along. It's 96 minutes.
Nonstop cat country. Time for some good news with Graham
in the morning. I need some good news. On 96.9
The Cat. Matthew's Alive Festival is back and it starts today.
So if you've never been, it's one of those events
(12:31):
that just feels like a Carolina Labor Day tradition. There's
live music, there's food, rides, crafts, a huge parade, thousands
of people coming together for a good cause. The best part?
is the event helps raise money for local nonprofits right
here in our community. So if you're looking for something
family-friendly to do that doesn't revolve around week one college football,
(12:52):
this weekend, Matthews is the place to be. Extended warranty.
Sound off. Who's on the cat phone?
Speaker 4 (12:58):
This is Dave Peeler from Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Good morning, Steve.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Our boy, Steve.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (13:04):
I'm 72 years old. I've never gotten an extended warranty.
But the thing is, I've never seen where I had
to use one. So I saved all that money because
I never got one.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Steve's a rebel. He's a rebel. Steve, you've never had
an issue with any kind of appliance or anything that
offers extended warranties?
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Nope.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
I need stock advice from Steve.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I know, right?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
He's obviously hitting on a lot of cylinders there. Good
for you, Steve.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
72 years he's never bought an extended warranty.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
You know how much money Steve must have saved? Steve,
how much money do you think you've saved over the years?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Probably a couple thousand.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Holy, that's making me rethink things. That's pretty good evidence
you don't need them. Yeah, I could have saved that
money and bought a Lyft from Leonard. That's right, you
could have. Man, I got to stop buying the extended warranties.
Sound off, 1-800-570-9690. The conversation rolls on. You're starting to
convince me, though.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
I know.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
Maybe we'll make a non-extended warranty person out of you guys.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Yeah, you know, because usually I am. Are you an
extended warranty person? Sound off. It's 96.9 The Cat. Good morning, sunshine.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
I wish they had extended warranties on golf balls to
save myself a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
That's Keith. Amen, brother.
Speaker 5 (14:13):
Yay.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Hey, that's why we got this little golf game in studio.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
We need those golf balls as well. I'm signing up.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
I don't care who you are. You need the extended
warranty on golf balls. Might need to do a future
sound off. Random things you would put an extended warranty on.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
It's so good. Now, you're not an extended warranty person.
I've seen you swing a golf club. Would you make
an exception for golf balls? I would need them for
golf balls. Yeah, I'd lose so many. for the win
bringing producer hunter over to the extended warranty side i
know that's crazy what a great sound off hey look
you can always weigh in we did get a few
calls that we could not get to you can always
(14:48):
