I have an odd question, which is nothing new, and

And I want to preface this by saying, if you've
not listened to me before or spent time listening, I
try not to mention a lot, but people are enamored this,
and I've talked about it from my days in Dayton,
working there at TUE and Wazoo before that, and here

the big one and elsewhere. I have had a pet
box turtle that I found in the woods when I
was about eight years old mushroom hunting. I don't know
if the turtle was mushroom hunting, but we were mushroom hunting.
And I have had that turtle now for like a

forty some years plus now, And for a lot of
people that's unusual and strange. One that I had the
turtle too, that stayed alive this long that I didn't
kill it or just by natural attrition in age, but
the longest in captivity is like one hundred and fifteen years,
so I will not last that long, no matter how
well I take care of myself in general. But for

a lot of people that think a turtle's a weird
kind of pet, I mean, they're not the most interactive,
although you'd be surprised how she recognizes you. And she
loves jazz, old jazz especially not like the you know,
the newer jazz. And I don't think about it as
being so strange because it's been the majority of my life.

And then somebody sent me a story and then asked me,
and this is ken. I don't think it's our ken Brew.
It says Ken west Side, and it's a story from
USA today about exotic African ants and said, would I
be interested in some ants? Say?

Right? And the answer simply is no. The ants I
want out of the house. I don't need ants in
the house. But people are coughing up an excess of
two hundred dollars on the so called black market for
these African harvester ants smuggled into the US and can
be a serious problem for invasive species type stuff, which

is disturbing. And they've caught and busted people for this
type of stuff. And if you go to pet stores,
I mean there's all kinds of different things, and there
are like a reptile expositions. People love the lizards and
the snakes. A buddy of mine who used to have
a like I think it was a Boa constrictor or
something and would feed it like live rabbits, which was

not for the fegte of heart, if you know what
I mean, Which then leads me to what Alex Egan
made me laugh at to start the show, which is
talking about he's got a wild bunny outside the house,
Egan that apparently has babies, and he's afraid that it's
gonna run away. And this is what he asked me
right before. What did you ask by the way, because
somebody probably knows this. He's searching for headphones so we
can do this. But he's concerned about the mama and

the baby bunnies. And the only time I've known anyone
who had them close to the house, you know, living
in their everyday life, they were raising them, I think
kind of for food. I know some people show them.
They're big bunny shows, rabbit shows or whatever. I want
to know. One, have you had an exotic or unusual pet? Two?
Where you draw the line on what a pet could be.

My buddy Jason, as a kid, I mentioned had these
massive I think there were African cockroaches. I'm not sure
if that's what their actual name was, but they were massive.
I mean like literally like if you took it, stretched
a grown man's hand out and like put your fingers
straight in front of it, it was almost the size
of like my hand right now. And it was kind

of cool, but kind of disturbing and just the idea
of the of a roach.

And they may not be.

As dirty as they say, but I tell you I'm
not a fan. So now that Alex has got some headphones.
You are at, what do you want to do with
this bunny? Well, you don't want to eat it, right,
You're not trying to grab the whole herd or I
don't know if it's a kit, if it's a I
don't know what they call baby bunny.

No, our our backyard is fully enclosed with a privacy fence.
So honestly, the spot that the bunny, that the mother
bunny is in right now is couldn't be any better.
She's in an incredibly safe spot. But we just had
some rain over the weekend, and I don't know. My
wife and I were thinking, ah, gosh, like last year

we had we had another bunny that had babies in
the front yard, but it rained so much that you know,
it didn't work out.

Yeah, So I was thinking about the rain and talking
to you and animals and then I and sure You're like.

Hey, hey, a turtle boy, and tell me about a
rabbit and yeah, and my wife and I were wondering
last night.

We were like, oh, man, I like, why can't you
domesticate rabbits?
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Well, I didn't know that you couldn't. What I mean,
do you is there like a hard and fast rule.
Is there something in draha way that says no bunnies
in the house. I mean, I don't know how that work.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
She she looked it up, and I mean maybe maybe
somebody listening knows more than I do.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
But as they been free, they don't want to be
like captive. I guess they had.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Their tolerance of stress is pretty hot, like they can't
as soon as they're in kind of an enclosed location,
like if they were inside, they feel they get stressed,
they feel trapped, and then they can actually just die
from stress.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Well, don't do that to the yea. So I was like,
oh my god, like, we can't, we can't do that.
The only thing I would tell you if it's like
any other animal, and I am an idiot and sucker
for the injured and firmed otherwise broken like not a
lot but bad toys. Basically, any any animal that has
a limp or a bad legs, you know, has had
a miss correct they come to the House of Stirling

And it's been that way since I was hatchling myself. Uh,
what I would say is if you treat the bunny nicely,
it may just eventually decide that it's a cool spot
to hang out, like door open, and then you'll have
rabbit stuff all over because I've been told you can
train them like them. Like I have friends who have
a hog, so I think it's a pop belly pig.

They call it Larry, and I kid you, and it
loves port chops. Oh no, that's a whole nothing, and
that this is the truth now, I mean, I may
or may not embellish some things or add a little
technicolor to a flos entertainment people, except when I'm solving
the world's problems, which Ken's ken Brew likes to talk about.
Only got about twenty one minutes. Yeah, only we can

only do what we can do in the time we
have in that situation. But I I, uh, yeah, I don't.
I'm not quite sure how that plays out. No, I
don't know. So maybe other people know and they can

just I'm told they use a letter box like my friends.

like a hog door. It's a it's like a big
dog door. Yeah, and it can come in and out
when the hell at once and it will go outside
and do some of its business. I don't know what
bunnies dough. So, I mean, you got a lot of
question and it could be pregnant. You could have a
hundred bunnies in the house and no time. I have
no idea. Where's the dude? Are you sure that it's
the mother and not the father? I don't know these are.

That's a good question. Yep, that's a great Yeah. I
have no idea. She's there all the time except last night.
We've yeah, we've just been watching from our window, and
and last night she was not there.

But just before or after the storm stormed early in
the morning too, Yeah, stormed early. Were the babies there? One?

Funnily enough, one of them went. We literally went out
last night. It was dark. She wasn't out there. But
one of them is sitting like a foot away from
the nest, just nestled into the grass.

And how big are they are? They like palm size
or they like little baby like They have no further
just getting around and they're basically like birder.

Tiny eyes so close literally the size of my palm.
So they're not weaned or anything. No, Yeah, well, I
don't know what to tell you let me know if
the baby the bunny comes back. I don't know about
domesticating them. I should not have taught taken the turtle
out of the woods of Proble County.

I guess not. But here's the thing. She would not
have lived as long out there as she has in
my place. No, And she's got cable, so I mean,
you know, and she might be listening now streaming on
the iHeartRadio app. I have no idea, and it's true.
And I call her fred short for fred Rica, because
I honestly thought she might have an identity crisis because

I'd have her about six months and then she laid eggs, yeah,
which I didn't know how that worked either. So I
don't know nothing about no bunnies, That's all I'm trying
to tell you, except they taste like chicken, yeah, a
little bell Yeah. And you don't want it to like
raise it, to fatten it up to eat it. Correct. No, No,
and explain this to me. Maybe someone else in bunny
Town would know this. And we talked about it off
the air because I remember as a child it disturbed

me because I saw bunnies. There's sweet, there's bugs, bunny
he had an attitude. He was always up to no good.
He was a little bit of a hooligan, you know,
in that type of thing. Did they say, here, here's
the rabbit's foot keychain for luck. I'm like, that was
not lucky for the damn rabbit. Why is that lucky
for me? I mean, there's a rabbit around with the
missing a foot or where does that come from? I

just looked it up. Yeah, why is that lucky? Because
it's sure as hell ain't lucky for the rabbit.

a lot of people that think a turtle's a weird
kind of pet, I mean, they're not the most interactive,
although you'd be surprised how she recognizes you. And she
loves jazz, old jazz especially not like the you know,
the newer jazz. And I don't think about it as
being so strange because it's been the majority of my life.

And then somebody sent me a story and then asked me,

USA today about exotic African ants and said, would I

the baby bunnies. And the only time I've known anyone
who had them close to the house, you know, living
in their everyday life, they were raising them, I think

They're big bunny shows, rabbit shows or whatever. I want

Where you draw the line on what a pet could be.

My buddy Jason, as a kid, I mentioned had these
massive I think there were African cockroaches. I'm not sure
if that's what their actual name was, but they were massive.
I mean like literally like if you took it, stretched
a grown man's hand out and like put your fingers

of cool, but kind of disturbing and just the idea
of the of a roach.

But as they been free, they don't want to be

like if they were inside, they feel they get stressed,
they feel trapped, and then they can actually just die
from stress.

oh my god, like, we can't, we can't do that.
The only thing I would tell you if it's like
any other animal, and I am an idiot and sucker
for the injured and firmed otherwise broken like not a
lot but bad toys. Basically, any any animal that has
a limp or a bad legs, you know, has had

And it's been that way since I was hatchling myself. Uh,
what I would say is if you treat the bunny nicely,
it may just eventually decide that it's a cool spot
to hang out, like door open, and then you'll have
