The Warriors want to remind their fans and fellow NRL teams what they're about when they play the Broncos at Mt Smart this afternoon.

The Auckland franchise dropped to 13th on the ladder after a shock 60-point defeat to the Titans last week.

Former Coach Frank Endacott joined D'Arcy Waldegrave to preview the game and discuss what needs to change for the 'Wahs'.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Watergrave from Youth talks'd be.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
And eight minutes after eight, Hello, Frank Endercot, good morning
to you, my friend.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah, thank you, Darcy. Shame to you.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
And what I'll we looking forward to this afternoon, this
evening five o'clock because I don't know, no one can
actually tell any more. I read a week editorial piece
earlier on today about how almost back in the happy
old days, if we don't know what's going to happen
next with the worries, they can they can on their
day beat anyone on their day, be beaten by anyone,

(00:40):
and more often than not probably beat themselves. We're back
to the frustration that it's the wars, aren't we.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Frank, you couldn't have summed them up any bit of
darsie after last week. You just don't know what's going
to happen. But I just got a feeling you go
back and this a familiar pattern here. A few weeks
back they lost three games in a row against teams
that we expected them to win. You know, they're by

(01:06):
three of the bottom size, and we got beaten all three.
Then they come out and they went against three of
the top sides, so you know, we just don't know
what's coming out after last week, which was the worst
loss in the club's history. But I'm picking them to
come back and beat the Broncost today. I mean at
home and with the home crowd, and you know, I'm
just looking at the teams and I like the look

(01:27):
up at the look of our team, and you look
at the Broncos and they've got some good players out there.
Jordan Ricky, Patrick, Carrigan, paynehasse all not coming over, and
I'm not sure about the fallback.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
What No, he's not coming over either. They're going it's
just too tiring, it's too much. He needs his beauty sleep.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
I agree, mate, I agree. So there's another one. So
there's four of their absolute best players not coming through.
It's a good time to strike. So I'm not sure
who's favorite in this game I ever looked. I'm just
not betting the Warriors of they're out for life for
me for betting, But I want them to win every game,
so I'm picking them to possibly come back and win

(02:07):
this one.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Tell us about the logic behind the lack of punishment,
if you will for the performance last week. Now I've
got a handle on why there weren't wholesale changes according
to the coach and the assistant coaches. But this top team,
this first team, they've been underwhelming for a couple of matches. Now,

(02:29):
not the young guys, but the so called second stringers.
As you touched on before, Frank, they've turned much to
the party and actually played very very well. How much
string do you give these guys before the end, because
you'd think you'd want to like yourself, Frank, you go, actually,
hold on, someone's got to pay for this. Are they
making the right decision?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Look, I understand what the coach is doing. He's giving
him another chance to redeem themselves. Another one, another one. Well, yeah,
you're going to remember they had three good wins and
then they come out and that almighty loss last week,
which was devastating, And I'm picking the players with that

(03:12):
embarrassed over that performance, that they will come back and
he's giving them that chance. If they go out and
get hammered today, I would say that there will be
some changes, but I can understand him sticking with it.
That team, and I think the only one out of
Sean Johnson and that through injury when.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
You're facing a similar situation, Frank, as a coach, I'm
presuming you've got to take a breath, because the part
of you that wants to win and wants to be
the heavy hand and be the coach must want to go.
I'm kicking you out. But when you pull that trigger,
that's the trick, isn't it, Because you're talking to the
next tier of players coming through as well, aren't you.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Ah, Look, after that game, he would have wanted to
have sacked every player because not one player performed, But
common sense has prevailed. He's got to call head Webster
and he's gone. And he thought, no, I'm going to
give these these players one more chance to redeem themselves.
And he has and I think he will get a response.

(04:13):
So he doesn't get a response, we're in big trouble.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
It's I won't say Veterans Day, but I just did.
But they're getting some of the old members of the
club back to celebrate. Stephen Brice is coming back from
the West Island along with his wife and it's going
to be a whole lot of old players turning up.
That's got to help, surely. Having those eyeballs from the
stands part of the legacy of the club. Looking at

(04:37):
this next generation game, guys don't disappoint us or is
that too much pressure?

Speaker 3 (04:44):
No? No pressure makes Diamond Stacey, I honestly believe that
that helps. You know, I was thinking very seriously about
coming up yourself. I see, you know with the Old
Boys day, he'd been up a couple of times. But
this will be a good one for the Old Boys.
It'll be a good game, competitive game, but with them
in their presence in the dressing room, meeting the players

(05:07):
before the game and again after the game, it's going
to make a difference. I mean, whenever you play in
front of the Old Boys, you always want to play well,
and they'll form a couple of lines for the players
to run out through, and when they see them there,
they'll want to play for them.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
I was going to talk about who needs to play
out of all of the guys from last week and
left the best, but from what you just said, none
of them really cover themselves in glory. It's like the
entire team. But if there's a key player and amongst
this that maybe can shoulder that burden, would be so
keen to say a character like de Maidi Munt who

(05:45):
did so well in the seven Jersey when Sean wasn't there.
I'd suggest a lot on him and he probably carried
that quite well.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
He would have been the player I would have mentioned,
to be honest, in his combination with Harris Devita. I
think it's a very good one. And those two young
fellows when they were together, they gave plenty of energy
to the team. And you know, without Sean Sean and
his experience there, they had to stand up and they
did that, both of them. So I think that's the combination.

(06:16):
They're up against Israel Man, who's who's a good player,
but he can have his moments also and Jock Madden
who's replacing Rentalds. So you know, I think that they
could go out there and dominate the game and hopefully
and when I look at the back line, you know,
I you know, we we've got some good players and
there their strength is their backs. I look at the

(06:38):
forward packs and I think that we got it over
them and the forward pack. So what I would do,
and not that I'm coaching the side, but what I'd
do is play this game right up the middle of
the park and and on defense, get your outsides. You
know your sense of moving up quick to keep turning
them back into then play the game in the middle,
get them in an armed struggle. You know that's what

(07:01):
I'd be doing, an arm wrestle. I wouldn't be where
I wouldn't I wouldn't be playing the game and in
fast because they got more speed than us.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah, I'd keep as far away the balls, far away
from selling cobber as possible. And it's probably that smart
thing to do here. Let's hope though, too, Frank, and
thanks so much for joining us as always, hope your
cup of teas that the ready that this team don't
get off to a good start, because that never August
well for the rest of the game, let's hope.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Good on your friend regardless, will be cheering for them, Darcy, I.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Say is critical as I can be. It doesn't matter.
I'm still a fan. They've still got me. You know that.
We all know that. Frank Ndercott. You have a great weekend.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Thank you, you too, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
It's sixteen minutes after eight hayby Frank Endercott. It's just
smash them up in the middle, and keeps smashing them
up the middle, so there's nothing more to smash, keep
the ball away from sell On. Cobbo says coach tas
who I've coached all of no rugby league teams ever
in my life. But you know I'm broadcaster. We know

(08:10):
it all. Sit in the cheap seats and throw grenades.
What a job.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
