(02:13):
six miles at the Berlin Marathon. And to be that fast,
there's no stopping for breaks like taking a pit stop
at a porta potty. Harry Styles said he felt lucky
that his bladder never became full on both marathons. They
do teach you, as a marathon runner how to just
go as you run, but he said, luckily he's never
had to do that, so we may see him as

In her new memoir You Said You With the Sad Eyes,
actress Christina Applegate is looking back at her life. She
left Brad Pitt. She left him at the Billboard Music Awards.
He was her date. She's said, to defend herself. He
wasn't the Brad pit that we all know today, just
getting going. But she was flirting with Sebastian Bach and

(05:04):
he's the front man of skid Row. She had a
crush on him. He was there. She left with him.
She left Brad Pitt at the Billboard Awards with her mother.
So her mother had to give him a ride home,
and that very night, Brad Pitt got into a big
fight with some gang members. Oh yeah, applegates, saying she
eventually regretted the decision when she discovered that the rock

(05:26):
star she chose was already in a long term relationship
and had a one year child. What a miss, What

Family more than a decade ago. It was also inspired
by their friendship and their early dreams of becoming successful
in music and acting, which they both have. But Selena
Gomez responded to fans who called on her to divorce

(05:59):
Benny Blanco because of his dirty feet, so she kissed
one of them on this week's episode of his podcast Anyway. Yeah,
so what do we kiss our mate's feet now? Why
they're still dirty? It was a week lady no sick. Well,
here she is talking about that song Taylor's wrote about her.

(06:19):
They're still his.

Speaker 8 (06:19):
Song Matt Taylor wrote about us and it was called
Family and it was over easily a decade ago. Insinuating
in the lyrics without quoting it, it is basically saying,
you have these amazing dreams you want to be in movies,
like in every crowd.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
I still see well that it has to be released.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
Good mona to post one of three point five the
llen k Morning Show. Follow us at cost one oh three.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Five dot com top stories top the hour, Good morning,
I'm ellen K. Measles cases continuing to soar across the nation,
the US now topping one thousand infections for just a
third time in the past quarter century. California one of
the twenty seven states where it's spreading and fast. Ninety
two percent of our cases are among people who haven't
been vaccinated, and despite our series of storms last month,

(10:24):
the state still needs more snow. California water officials saying
our pack is pretty paltry. We're eight inches below normal
for early March. It's key because of the runoff when
it melts. The water feeds rivers and reservoirs that supply
thirty percent of our state's water. And I feel like
the Superlata Plus doesn't get the same shine as Mega
millions in Powerball. Don't tell that to a lucky plus

(10:44):
player in Upland someone just matched all six numbers on
a ticket, good for a whopping thirty two million dollars,
not two shabs. The big winner bought at Circle K
on Foothill and that story gets one hundred and sixty
thousand dollars for selling it. Congrats all around, and you'll
put out their ten most outrageous restaurants in the US,
including this one in Hollywood. It's the Magic Castle, the

(11:06):
headquarters of a private club for magicians and magic fans
has remained tucked away in that Victorian mansion in the
Hollywood Hills since nineteen sixty three. The club, if you
haven't been there, mostly exclusive to members and their guests,
but you can get a key in by staying at
the adjacent Magic Castle. The restaurant features at steakhouse menu
with magical entertainment, making yelp's most Outrageous restaurant list. And

(11:28):
there's a new cocktail that has helped benefits for you.
Food and wine, says Bone Broth. Cocktails are having a moment.
So I don't know if you ever looked at a
bowl of chicken soup and thought this would be better
with a little bodan. But bone broth cocktails are the
hot new trend of bars, food and wine doing a
big story on it. It's part of the put more
protein in everything trend. Bone broth typically used as a

(11:49):
base for soups ten grams of protein per serving. And
as weird as it sounds, bone broth and cocktails isn't
a new idea. A bloody bull is basically just a
bloody mary with a little bone broth mixed in, and
that's been around since the nineteen fifties. And what about
this Wednesday weather so beautiful, wonderful, sunny again his around
seventy five. We're going to ride it for a while,

(12:10):
might pop up to eighty by the weekend. I Fontana,
you go to seventy two Fullerton, seventy five, and right
now it's fifty eight in Burbank KOSG, Los Angeles. It's
coast one O three point five And coming up this hour,
we're sending you to Harry Styles Listening Party. The only
way in just to win your way.

(13:02):
song of the day is Toxic by Britney Spears. Toxic's
the most searched song on Google in two thousand and
four and Brittany was the most searched artist that year.
Pretty crazy. And also every Monday and Wednesday we read
your letters. Ellen write to Ellen for advice because she's
seen a thing or two.

Speaker 8 (13:17):
She is Elan.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
All right, this one from Dustin, he says Jess Dustin.
Dear Ellen, I've been married to my wife for three years.
When we met, her son Pete was six, he's nine. Now.
I've been there for homework, meltdowns, soccer games, dental appointments,
stomach bugs, at two in the morning, teaching him how
to ride a bike. I pack his lunches, I help
him study spelling words. I sit in the front row

(13:42):
at every school assembly. I love that kid like he's
my own. But he doesn't call me Dad. He calls
me Dustin, and every time he says it it stings.
It's not that I've ever forced it. I would never
pressure him. His bio father is still in the picture, inconsistent,
but technically around pops in with big promises, disappears again,

(14:03):
and somehow he's still dad and I'm Dustin. Oh wow.
The other night, Pete introduced me to a friend's parent
at a birthday party and said, this is Dustin. He's
married to my mom. I smiled, check hands. I played
it cool. I don't want to replace his father. I
just don't want to compete. I want to belong. I've
talked to my wife about it. She says it has

(14:25):
to come naturally and I should not take it personally.
Pete loves me, I know he does. He hugs me
good night. He even asked me to tuck him in.
But I wonder, after three years of showing up every
day for everything, is it wrong that I wish he
saw me as more than just Dustin. And then he writes,
thank you for your help just Dustin. Oh wow. I

(14:47):
mean I like what he said in his letter. He'll
never pressure him, he would never force it. I think
that from our experience being on the air and getting
calls from stepparents, that there there is a magical moment
that happens to most where it comes out. Yeah, where

(15:07):
that person that you are raising, perhaps not your biological
son or daughter, you go through something, you have a
moment and then they say it, thanks mom, thanks dad.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
And think about how great that's going to feel. Whether
he's getting married or maybe he gets accepted to college
and he looks at you and he says thanks dad. Yeah,
that's what it's going to hit. And time, time's gonna
reveal that he's nine. Now, when he's older, he's gonna know,
he's going to know that you were there. Yeah, he doesn't,
he doesn't process or understand it maybe as fully as

(15:37):
he will.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Yeah, her son Pete was six, he's nine now. I
mean he sounds like a great Dustin. Yes, you know what, Yes,
I mean, he is a dad. He's you know, he's
he's being a daddy. And you know, I would say,
Pete now nine years old, I really do believe it

(16:02):
will happen.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
I grew up with my cousin living right next door
to me, and her dad went through her mom and
dad broke up my uncle and aunt, and my uncle
quickly remarried, and they would force her to call a
step mom, and that grew even more resentment.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Yeah, that it ended badly.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
So you don't want to force anyone or and especially
someone so young, like you're saying, Ryan, It's gonna mean
ten times more when the moment happens.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Yeah, if you have any advice for Jess Dustin, it's
eight hundred and nine two nine kost Dustin needs our health.

auction in England. Described as the holy Grail of the franchise,

this rare Pokemon card is somehow, some way still in
near perfect mint condition, while most other cards from the
era were lost or damage by play over the last
twenty five years. And hey, your cereal ISLA target's about
to look a whole lot different than retailer announcing they're

Speaker 5 (26:16):
We love you all out When I started this and Fluffy,

And it's Coast one of three point five, and you're
listening to the ellen K Morning Show.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
That's right right here on.

Speaker 10 (26:30):
Coast.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
It's the L and K Morning Show.

Speaker 7 (26:33):
It's great listening to you every day. You guys write
my day.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Coast one oh three point five.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Happy that you are here. This is a big, big hour.
Britney Spears Toxic is going to play the second we
begin that song. Give us a call. It's your lan
K one K paid a song in the day's worth
one thousand dollars. All right, we get your letters to Ellen.
We read him every Monday and Wednesday. And Dustin wrote
to us. He is a stepdad to a nine year old.

(26:59):
He's been in his step son's life for three years
now and does everything and dad would do, and then
some you know, getting up at two in the morning
if there are nightmares or a tummy bug, studying together,
spelling words, teaching how to ride a bike, and he
wants he wants him to call him dad. Dustin said,

(27:20):
he's just Dustin. But we have to remember now that
Pete the boy is only nine, and so Dustin asked
his wife, you know, hey, he introduced me at a
party as the man you married. I wish I was dad.
So we're getting so many calls for this. There are
so many blended families. Listening to Emily on your way

(27:43):
to work at Portview Prep Teaching High School. Thank you
Emily for coming on. You have some feelings about this?
What do you think?

Speaker 7 (27:53):
This just really hit home for me. I'm now forty eight,
but when I was two years old, my mom married
my first stepdad, and we have been close my whole
life ever since I was two, even after they divorced
when I was twenty. I see him once a month.
He lives in San Diego, like my second dad, so
I've always called him by his first name my whole life.

(28:14):
Until about five years ago, maybe maybe even before that,
I started to call him dad. And I think it's
because I didn't want to like offend my real dad,
because I love them both.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Oh yeah, there's enough love for everyone, and as long
as the feeling is there, you know, the title may
not be as important as Dustin is putting on. And
I feel like Dustin is fixated on it too, so
it's almost like he's chosen that one thing. The kids
sounds great, and Dustin sounds great, but you know, he

(28:47):
just can't get over that hump, and I think that
he needs to have better self talk. Yes, I love him,
he loves me, and that's what matters.

Speaker 7 (28:56):
Yeah, it makes me sad because I feel like you don't.
I mean, he's also still a child, so I mean,
it took me a really long time before I was
able to call him dad. So don't put that pressure
on a young boy. You know, that makes me kind
of sad.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
Thanks. Thanks, Emily. We're happy that you have so much
love in your life.

Speaker 7 (29:14):
Yeah, I mean too. I'm lucky even I've got two
dads that are really great, and that he's still my stepdad.
Never waivered, you know, He's always been my bonus dad
my whole life, and he's truly amazing.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
Thanks Emily.

Speaker 7 (29:25):
Yeah, I hope you guys have a wonderful week.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
Ellen, you too.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Okay, So Emily's been there and it took her a
long time to call call him dad. That's why I
really do feel like there will be a breakthrough moment.
I don't know if it's going to be when Pete's
a teenager or like you said, walking down the aisle,
whatever it is, whatever it is, but gonna he's gonna
look at Tustin and he's going to say I love
you Dad, or thank you dad. Oh, it's going to

(29:50):
be so beautiful. So, Dustin, we're getting so many calls
to help you out with this, and you know, just
just remember the love. That's mostly what everyone's saying. And
there's enough love. Okay, so keep him coming. It's eight
hundred ninety two nine kost your same number to win
your thousand dollars again the song of the day for
your ln K one K pay Day's Toxic Britney Spears

one of three point five eleven on your calls. So
if you're a stepparent, you can relate to this. You've
got a step son or a stepdaughter or multiples, and
maybe you're being called by your name like Dustin. He
wrote us a letter and said he's just Dustin, but

(30:47):
for a nine year old Pete, he wants to be dad,
so he doesn't want to rush on our pressure room.
And his wife, the woman he married, said look, just
let it go.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
He's nine and I think everyone's saying Ellen that in
time you will be more than just Dustin.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Yeah, he even signed his letter just Dustin. So let's
give let's get Pete some time. It'll happen for you, Dustin,
your loving dad, petezas loving son, he loves you. He
wants to be tucked in every night. Ace Leftist is talkback.

Speaker 9 (31:20):
Hey, guys, I heard the message and I was really
deeply touched and I had to call in because I
understand I had gotten married a couple of years back
and my wife had a son from a previous marriage.
Took a while, but when he first call me Dad,
I remember, I was on top of the world. I
couldn't believe it and just felt really really like accepted.

(31:44):
But anyhow, thank you guys. I love the show. Listen
every day.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
Oh, thank you Ace. Thanks for that talk back. That's encouraging.
And Jess. Dustin is loving it too. He's just Dustin,
but he's so much more so. I think Dustin's just
kind of down on himself. He's doing hero stuff also today,
I you know, what are we doing it for? Are
you doing it for the word or for the love?
All right? Do you want to do? You want to

(32:10):
hear that word? Is that all he does? He wants
that word, But I think that he needs to let
go of that word. Yep, where's the love, Dustin? It's
right there in front of you, all right.

When resting dogs breathe at thirty beats per minut it
this is good for you too, DJ Mike, because you're
all into the beats permittent. Walking your dog brings it

up to your own sixty beats per minute. All right,
Running your dog can push it to about ninety beats
per minute. But when you take your dog on a
sniffari snipping, your dog's heart rate goes to one hundred
and fifty beats per minute. Said there Jacked. It's super stimulating.

study has found the most important thing you can do
when you arrive at work is this now. Ellen, you
said turn on the lights or lock your car, which
you didn't do yesterday. Yeah, and then a couple weeks
ago you left it running.

But you guys, actually do something, and you're all right

when you get to work. You guys actually do this
first without even knowing it, and that is to say
good morning to each other.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
Good morning.

Speaker 4 (38:42):
Study finds that it is not only good for your
own personal health, mental and physical. It lowers your blood pressure,
it improves your mood, but it's also good for the
community of the office.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
You could say buenos dias or bonjoorno, or maybe guten
