you to always listen to yourself and always fight for
your ideas, fight for your songs, fight for.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Yourself as a producer. Make sure that you are heard loudly.

Listen to Mama Loud.

Speaker 6 (06:45):
You know that if you put a small pinch of
salt under your tongue and wait a few seconds, then
drink a full glass of water, your headache will disappear
in under five minutes. The sodium from the salt quickly
restores your blood electrolytes, reduces dwelling in the brains blood vessels,
and shuts down migraine pain signals before they get worse.
My mama taught me this when I was a little girl,

(07:07):
and I've never needed a pill for a headache since.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Salt under the tongue.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Pinch of salt under your tongue, Glass of water, gone
under five minutes.

to authorize a strike. Members of the teachers' union approved
it by a ninety four percent margin. This after months
of stalled contract talks. The approval now gives the board

about this If you're in the mood to watch Groundhog Day,
it is streaming on Netflix. Puntstani Phil saw his shadow

Jackie in Shadows eggs were eaten by ravens. Those mom
they left the nest and the eggs were unguarded, and

And congrats to all of our coast artists and gravy winners.
That was a fun show to watch, all right, But
here's your letters to Ellen. So this is from Vicky.
Is she a villain? Dear Ellen, My boyfriend was in
the process of throwing me a big surprise party for
my fortieth birthday. I found out about it early and
I told him cancel it, all of it. I don't

(11:06):
like surprises. I don't like being the center of attention.
My dream birthday would have been something simple dinner with
a few close friends, Loki and calm. A big production
announcing that I'm forty is not a gift to me.
That's my nightmare. When I found out, I told my
boyfriend he needed to cancel it. I even reached out
to my girlfriends and said, I appreciate the thoughts so much,
but this is not what I want. And now everyone

(11:29):
is mad at me. They're acting like I'm ungrateful and
that I ruined something amazing. If the party is for
and about me, why does it feel like I'm being
punished for not wanting it? Vicky? Am I a villain? Wow? Vicky, look,
I don't know how you found out early about a
surprise party. But that's some poor planning on here from

(11:51):
someone blew it. But maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
I don't know. Have you ever had a surprise party
right where they people jump out of the dark.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
No. I've had some like big surprises, but not a
surprise party where people jump out.

Speaker 6 (12:06):
No.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
I'm one of those people who I'll pretend like I
love my birth I'll talk about my birthday, yeah, but
when it comes time to the actual I get Really,
I do I understand what Vicky saying.

Speaker 4 (12:14):

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I don't like when people sing happy birthday to me.
I don't know where to look. I don't know what
to do. Okay, I don't It's just awkward. I feel awkward.
I wouldn't want it either.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Have you ever had a surprise party, producer, Yeah, I have,
and I don't like surprises. So but deal with it, Vicky. Look,
somebody's trying to do something nice for you. Just let
it happen. It's so thoughtful, there's a lot of thought
put into it. But she just doesn't want She doesn't
want it. She's not her thing. I guess maybe she
feels like if our friends really knew her, they'd know
she didn't like it.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
When Calvin turned twelve, we did a surprise party for
him at Pins over here in Studio City. So there's
a staircase at the very far side, and there's like
a little room up there. It might be like a
party room or an employee room. I don't know quite
what it is. But we invited his football team, baseball
team friends and they all waited up there, and then

(13:04):
we got him there with let's just go play some
you know, let's go bowl and play some games at Pins. Yeah,
and then we got him there and I was so
nervous I'm shocked he didn't notice it.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
There was something, and kids say the kid's ruin everything.
They'll talk about everything. You like it.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
He loved it. They all came running down the stairs
and surprise him and it was amazing. Yeah, it was
so much. But that was his twelfth birthday party. This
is Vicky and it's her fortieth. So I don't think
you can really, you know, compare kids.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
With Have you had a surprise party throw?

Speaker 1 (13:34):
I haven't.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
How would you feel?

Speaker 1 (13:36):
I think I'd like it? All right? Interesting, I think
i'd like it. I like surprises.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
I would not want this at all. I tell you, Vicky,
it sounds like a nightmare.

turned traumatic over the weekend. During one of the tour stops,
a passenger jumped out and took off all of his clothes,
fully naked, rolling around on the ground. Fellow passengers say
he was seemingly under the influence. Thankfully, security took a

(18:18):
little time getting him detained. Everyone on the tram got
Express lane passes for the arrest of the day. And
the first check from Apple's original bank account that was

(20:19):
get to your letters to Ellen.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Right to Ellen for advice, because she's seen a thing
or two.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
She is Ellen, and a whole lot of feedback for Vicky.
She signed her letter Vicky the Villain. Dear Ellen, my
boyfriend was in the process of throwing me a big
surprise party for my fortieth birthday. I found out about
it early, and I told him to cancel it. I

(20:46):
don't like surprises. I don't like being the center of attention.
My dream birthday would have been something simple dinner with
a few close friends, Loki and calm. A big production.
Announcing that I'm forty is not a gift to me.
That's my night. So when I found out, I told
my boyfriend he needs to cancel it. I even reached
out to my girlfriends and said I appreciate the thoughts

(21:07):

everyone is mad at me. They're acting like I'm ungrateful
and that I ruined something amazing. If the party is
for me and about me, why does it feel like
I'm being punished for not wanting it? Vicky the villain
And I know Brian that you don't mind being the

(21:28):
center of attention. You just don't want it to be
about your birthday.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
I did not or to be sung too. I don't
like when people even singing happy birth I don't know
where to look. I just find the whole celebrating part awkward.
I like a party, don't get me wrong, I'd love
all the friends there. I just don't need all.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Of that fuss. I took Ryan to Kasavega for his
birthday last year, and we sat on the patio where
there was no one else, and then I said, hey,
it's his birthday.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Oh I can't and then you're not discreet about it.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Well, then they brought the flawn with the candle, and
you were like so upset, and I thought, wait, but
it's just us. It was like the Morning Show. It's
our family and we're sitting outside and there. There weren't
people to see it. I can't explain you, like the
people passing by the sidewalk.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
And it makes my face hot. I cannot handle. Some
people just don't like it.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
And I knew it bothered you, and I knew I shouldn't,
but I couldn't help it.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
I even asked you before.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
I know he don't do that. They wanted to everyone
else too, But that's okay.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
It's my birthday.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
That's ridious thing. If the party is for me and
about me, why does it feel like I'm being punished
for not wanting it? We have so many calls for
this one. Julie of la is Vicky a victim? Or
is Vicky of villain?

Speaker 3 (22:45):
You know what I get where she's coming from. My
husband is always trying to surprise me too, and I
don't like surprises, but it seems like he did a
lot of work putting this together. So I think she
should just let him be the surprise and maybe, like
on another night, celebrated the wish. He wants to do it, quiet, small, whatever.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Let it happen. Also, if you know what's happening, it's
not that much of a surprise. You can prepare yourself
mentally for all of that.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Yeah, I agree. I agree. She shouldn't like put him
off on surprising her and planning things for her and
being a romantic, because then he's just gonna be like, well,
I'm not gonna do it anymore anyway.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Yeah, you don't want to set a precedent like that. Yes,
have you ever had a surprise party? No?

Speaker 3 (23:32):
I have not. My husband has never been able to
do it because I'm so hard to surprise.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Okay, all right, all right, so you you would, you'd
be onto it right away?

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Yeah, I think I would be, all right.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
Julie, Well, thank you so much for calling in.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
You're welcome. I love you, Ellen. I'm gonna try tomorrow
for those Bruno tickets.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Keep on trying.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
Thank you, We love you back, all love you, Bye.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
Grammy, Darling, Bruno Mars, we have that for you all,
along with your own KQ and A. But let's go
back to VICKI. So I love what Laura of Inglewood said.
She said, do you know how hard it is to
get a man to plan anything for you? And now
you're trying to stop it, and you will set a
precedent if you stop this party and he'll never want

(24:16):
to plan anything for you again. Is that true? Ryan?

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Yeah, You'll turn him off from even thinking about this.
You're gonna You're you'll unintentionally make him less thoughtful.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
You're training him.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
That's exactly what.

Speaker 8 (24:31):
It's.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
The LAK Morning.

Speaker 9 (24:32):
Show Jesu mac I Love you guys, host one of
three point five.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Hi, good morning ny. Hi. It sounds like you're on
the road in your car. What's your name? Hey, Vanessa?
Your collar twenty? You just want a pair of tickets
to Ed Cheran?

Speaker 4 (24:54):
Nice?

Speaker 9 (24:54):
Thank you?

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Were you headed?

Speaker 4 (24:58):
I'm headed to work?

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Where do you work? Can you say?

Speaker 4 (25:02):
Yeah, I'm in the alcohol industry, so I'm heady to
like the ranches amanga areas?

Speaker 1 (25:07):
All right? Bells oh sales? Yeah, I'm a bell rep
for alcohol?

Speaker 10 (25:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (25:13):
What are you selling to that?

Speaker 1 (25:14):
Can you say the brand?

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Well, we're seeing a lot of alcohol for.

Speaker 8 (25:19):
The Super Bowl Sunday.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
M hm.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
Tequila and Julio.

Speaker 8 (25:25):
Nineteen forty two.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
We name it whenever we can get on their spare dab.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
All right, that's quite the menu?

Speaker 4 (25:33):
Is ready for the Super Bowl Sunday?

Speaker 2 (25:36):
Responsibly?

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Of course? Yes?

Speaker 3 (25:38):
Yeah, of course, of course.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Happy sales, Happy Ed Sharon.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Yeah, that must be a fun job, you know. Social
Queen Darlina celebrating her birthday today. Happy birthday to our
dar So I sent her off with two bottles of tequila,
one for sipping, one for mixing and Ed Sharon, Oh
my gosh, so we've got this for you. It is
Ed Sharon the Loop Tour Sofi Stadium. Ed was here

(26:06):
not too long ago. He loves his pubs and he
loves his guinness.

Speaker 10 (26:09):
Well, it's all, it's all quite a lot of history.

Speaker 11 (26:11):
I mean, some of these pubs have been around for
like hundreds of years and there's just the the culture
of it's different. I find like here, if you have
a drink for lunch, you're an alcoholic, whereas in England
it's more of a like it's a social thing, like
you would go to meet someone and have a beer
with them, rather than going to meet someone and having

(26:32):
a coffee.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Okay, well yeah that is probably very true.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Ed La wakes up with the L and K Morning Show.
Do you guys have talking me out to a lot
of my life?

Speaker 5 (26:41):
I just want to take you guys. You guys are
always there and we.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Smile with you. We pry with you, and I just
wanted to thank you guys for everything that you do.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Coast one oh three point five.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Tough Stories top of the hour. Good morning, I'm Ellen
k here on two too. Your Monday, February second, A
family emergency is unfolded for today's show anchor Savannah Guthrie
after her eighty four year old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was
reported missing in Arizona over the weekend. Sheriff's deputies quickly
classified her as a missing vulnerable adult due to her
age unlimited mobility. Savannah Guthrie did put out a release

(27:14):
press release in a statement today thanking everyone for their
well wishes and their prayers for her mother and what
about this Today? Here in La Superior Court, Key for
Sutherland is scheduled to appear on charges of felony, criminal
threats and assault on an uber driver that happened last month.
Here's some good news for you. California was just crowned
the most love struck state in all of the land.

(27:35):
From rom coms and romance novels to sappy love songs,
we Californians cannot get enough of romantic media content this
past year, winning that title Californians searching for romantic songs,
swooney movies, binge worthy love shows, and page turning romance
novels more than any other state in the country. So
these aren't just search trends, their emotional patterns. People are

(27:57):
turning to love stories to reflect escape. I feel something
real and what a beautiful day today tempts a tad
cooler to welcome the week. Some clouds. Hi's around seventy five,
and then it's short lived. We start heading up again tomorrow,
ninety by Wednesday. Right now, it is sixty five in Burbank.
It's kost Los Angeles, Coast one of three point five.

(28:17):
More of your cash on coast coming up. Don't miss
your chance to win one thousand dollars. Good morning, darling.
It's Mariah kay Hi. This is sir Richard Brown. So
this is Adam Lavina, and you're listening to the number
one morning show, The Ellen and k Morning Show on
Coast one, three point.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Five, Coast one on three point five.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
All right, all right, Bi, congrats Maria. She was honored
at the Music Cares Person of the Year over Grammy
Weekend at their annual charity gala and same list of performers,
all covering Mimi's biggest hits. You got the food Fighters,
Jennifer Hudson, Teddy Swims, Adam Lambert, Charlie Pooth, Kesha, Jermaine Duprix,
and more. Ryah told us it's important for female songwriters

(28:57):
to get their flowers. I know, it's an honor to
be wrecked. NS is great to see like females getting
more and more recognition of songwriters because a lot of
times people tend to forget that. We do that too, Like,
I'm sure you get the same thing in your field
and my profession. They're all guys. I look down the
hallway there's Ryan Seacrest and Big Boy, and.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
They're all men.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
I know.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
So we have to support each other.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
That's right, we do. Thanks Mariah, congratulations. Our girl can't
wait to see her at the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
Her Italian is so good. All right. So, Alex Warren
nominated for Best New Artists. I love what the Grammys
did last night on CBS where they took all of
the Best New Artist nominees and just gave us a

(29:42):
mashup of all their songs that they're nominated. I mean
these artists just really made a huge impression and all
the songs are great. So they went from one to
the other, to the other to the other, and Alex
Warren came out and he was off a beat because
his earpiece was given a some feedback and some echo.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Yeah. I felt so bad for him when he ripped
him out. I mean he found it, he got there. Yeah,
you knew it was a struggle.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
You're right, And you know he's on music's biggest stage,
on music's biggest night, and he's a new artist, and
what a beautiful song that he sings, you know, with
ordinary but they he went on social media almost immediately
to share with us what he was hearing in his earpiece.

(30:30):
I mean, that's tough. So sorry, Alex, he says, so well,
it's honored to be nominated.

Speaker 10 (30:40):
Here you are, they say, the holy and this town
lost its faith. Our colors full of faith. Oh then
Julie sue, if our time is fun, and now day
after day we'll make them.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
Monday, La wakes up with the Ellen Came Morning Show.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
I love listening to you guys in the morning.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
I start my mornings with you guys. You guys are the.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Best Coast one oh three point.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Five Grammy's in a Nutshell, Key Takeaways and more coming up.
Kendrick Lamar the biggest winner, taking on five. Record of
the Year went to Kendrick and Siss it for Luthor
Scheron kind of messed up a little bit, saying Luther Vandross,
but then she realized it was Kendrick Lamar and she
corrected herself for walking off stage and she had to
have a call back. Olivia Dean winning Best New Artist.

(31:31):
It was fun Bad Bunny Album of the Year. All right,
Let's get to Jelly Roll.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
Though.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Jelly Roll was sitting with Teddy Swims and they both
have the same kind of tattooed faces, and at one
point Trevor Noah said, hey, Jelly, could you open Teddy
Swim's phone with your face? And he tried and it worked,
and Jelly was so happy when he got up on stage.

Speaker 7 (31:58):
It was days that I thought the darkest thing I
was a horrible human. There was a moment in my
life that all I had was a bible this big
in a radio the same size, and a six by
eight foot seal, and I believe that those two things
could change my life. I believe that music had the
power to change my life and God had the power
to change my life. And I want to tell y'all
right now, Jesus, it's for everybody.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
I love you, Lord, oh my jelly Roll delivering that
acceptance speech after winning the Grammy Best Contemporary Country Album
for Beautifully Broken. Then he went to the bathroom and sobbed.
He said, he did, body shaking sobs. He just can't
believe his life and all the things that have happened
in the positivity and he spreads it.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
And good for him too, all the work he's put in.
He looks incredible, you know, he really, he busts it
every day.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
So good. And then Forrell in his blush ping leue
viaton suits and clips, hitting the stage. Then they changed
into white suits and fur coats, but they performed from
their Grammy nominated album. And I always love for Ell.
I don't know, there's something about him, It just always
next you smiled, known him since he started for a

(33:03):
long time. Then with Happy and you know, I know
he left this message for well it was it was
it was for It's for me and another Ryan, but
it fits with you.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Ryan.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
It's to say it's our ten year anniversary. Come on,

Nielsen ratings, Coast has been at the top of the
ratings list all year long. So big shout out to

and talk of the Red Carpet. Catherine O'Hara rush by
ambulance from Brentwood Home on Friday nine on one dispatch
audio claims she was having trouble breathing and then she
passed and and everyone was talking about it at the
Grammy Red Carpet last night. What a sudden, horrible lass

(34:17):
and how much fun we've lost in the world with
her passing. So we thought we'd like to celebrate her.
Some of the funniest and funnest clips of Catherine O'Hara.

Speaker 8 (34:30):
Well house on There certain things that are just not done.
Smoking in a car with a baby, Alsha Cracker, window
tipping before tax, mixing drinks with cola, and giving away
a coat that doesn't.

Speaker 1 (34:44):

she says, I brought a bottle of vodka, so welcome.
There's a house, you know, housewarming gift to Where is it?
I don't see it? More. Catherine O'Hara, what is your
favorite season.

Speaker 2 (35:04):

children before themselves.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Oh really, no.

Speaker 8 (35:09):
If airplane safety videos have taught me anything, David, it's
said a mother puts her own mask on first.

Speaker 4 (35:17):

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Yeah, he's only right thirty percent of the time.

Speaker 1 (36:19):

can like have a better game.
