Speaker 1 (00:00):
Senator Tommy Turberville announcing that he's going to be running
for governor. There's all kinds of spots opening up across
the board here in our state, and there's going to
be some big elections coming up, and governor obviously is
one of the big races. It looks like Tommy's got
what seventy nine percent in that race there, but with
the Senate seat opening up, it looks like the lead
(00:21):
candidate right now. The biggest name is our Attorney General,
Steve Marshall, and he joins us this morning. Thank you
so much for taking some time out of your morning.
I know you're busy.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Oh no, good to be with you. This is much
better than the kolonoscarby prep I've done for the last
twelve hours.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Oh no, So are you actually there getting ready to
go in for your colonoscarby.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
We're headed that way when we're done with you, get
a minute. So, hey, this is a much better conversation.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Well, I'm so glad. I mean, you know that prep's
a rough ride there, But I got to tell you
the propofol in sleep during a colon oscar be some
of the best you'll.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Get, right, It'll be good, good it. Hey, we're excited
about the Senate. Ryan didn't expect it, honestly, because you know,
I was done on the political front. Didn't want to
run for governor, made that clear kind of last fall.
We talked about that before and then Coach decided to
come home. The Senate is something that is of significant
interest to me. It's why don't we put our name
(01:14):
in the hat here a couple of weeks ago, and
excited to be able to share what we've done with
the people of Alabama, And why don't we think we're
the right person for the job.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Well, you are the lead candidate. There's Steve Hudson, you know,
mentioned and actually announced it here on our show that
he was also going to be ranting for him, our
Navy seal and candidate for the Justin County Sheriff's office
back in twenty twenty two. Great guy. I would imagine
you know who Jared is and I worked with him.
He's real big in law enforcement and helping you know,
(01:42):
track bad.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yeah, dere here's great. In fact, about two months ago
I spoke at a fundraiser helping him raise money for
his nonprofities. Find young man and think the world of
him personally.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
So with the spot opening up with Senator Tuberville leaving, campaign,
you know is underway. I mean, there's no time like
the president and you announced pretty quickly after that. The
announcement came from Senator Turberville. So how is your campaign
going in fundraising? That seems to be the biggest priority
for anybody that's running.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, we feel good on both fronts. Had a lot
of support across the state and it's the beauty of
being a statewide candidate now for the last eight years
is that you know, I know, you know the state
from north to south and east to west. We've been
in all of Alabama cities and had a chance to
be able to talk about kind of what's going on
in those communities and really pleased with a response. I mean,
(02:33):
the one thing that is unique to me as the
candidate is we've got a proven record in which we've
been able to not only sort of deal with tough
issues but get really good results. Yesterday we was talking
with John about the Supreme Court decision came on the
Tennessee law where Alabama led the charts to get rid
of this gender affirming care kids across the country and
(02:54):
we've got a track record of success that we'll be
able to share. And look, we stood strong with President Trump,
been defending his agenda both in his first term as
well as since he's come back, and I think will
be that strong Partnery needs on the multiple issues that
he's been given the mandate to address, and stand ready
to be able to support him in that.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Well, it looks like you're in the lead for this.
There are some other folks that are running. You know,
Pam La Casey announced her candidacy for it. Jane Mitchell
is also involved here as far as running for the
attorney General. When I talk about filling your spot, I
don't mean, you know, going for US senator. And then
you've got you know, Catherine Robertson who obviously chief counsel
(03:36):
for you for quite some time. Now, let's talk about
these three different candidates, Jay and Pam and then also Katherine.
Are you endorsing anybody at this point for that to
fill your position?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah, I've endorsed Catherine. She's been with me since day one.
Markable intellect is wedded to the issues that we've been
involved with, and it looks he's somebody that will have
been I think the longest serving attorney general in modern history.
When I'm done, I care deficitally with the office of
the Clinton Lee, and I am complete confidence that Catherine
(04:10):
can continue the direction that we've gone and continue to
serve in a remarkable way.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Well, I think you're probably going to grab the seat.
I think that'd be awesome. You've gotten my vote, of course,
and a lot a lot of roads to still, you know,
go between now and the election day coming up. But
most of all, I hope everything goes smooth with your
colon oscarby this morning and you come back with the
clean slaves.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
We'll be getting a nice sleep and a little bit
of rest today. But hey, we're excited to be out
and it's going to be you know, the next eleven months.
We're going to work really hard. You know, you're kind
to say we're in the lead right now. You know,
we start at the same place as everybody else, and
Alabama will decide what they do on May nineteenth next year,
and we're prepared to tell the story of the victories
(04:55):
we've had, the tough fights that we've been a part of,
and the consistent results that we've delivered.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
To talk about it yeah, very good. All right. Our
Attorney General Steve Marshall. Steve, thanks, have a great win
and I appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Thank you.
