Speaker 1 (00:00):
A couple of crazy stories happening in our news. Let's

(00:02):
get a legal look at it with attorney Gonzalo Serrano
joining us this morning. Gonzala, welcome in, thanks for being.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Here, Thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Well this is not uncommon here. This Florida woman now
I'm being charged after police say she attacked a seventy
two year old guy wearing a Maga hat. Where did
this take place? What's wrong with this woman?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
So this is a case involving a thirty three year
old woman, Laura Garrett. I believe that's your last name,
and this is out of Pinellas County, Florida.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
And essentially, you know, it's just.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
A quick overview from what we know is there's an individual,
I believe seventy seven years old, seventy two year old
individual wearing a Maga hat. Missus Garrett approaches and starts
interrogating him about why he supports the president, and you know,
I guess a physical attacking sues and allegedly she he

(01:00):
throws a can or hits him with a can in
the back of the head.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Geez. So she's been arrested.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
She has been arrested, and she was charged with a
third degree felony battery of a person seventy five or sorry,
sixty five or older, and actually, in the process of
the arrest, police have actually charged it with two additional accounts.
Is my understanding number one as a resisting arrest, and
number two is some incident that involved an officer being

(01:30):
hurt during the arrest.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
You know, it's just one thing after another with people
attacking people that support Donald Trump, and it really is
Trump deranged syndrome that people are going through in this
whole thing. You're thirty three years old, You're attacking a
seventy two year old man who's wearing a Trump hat,
and because of that, you're gonna throw a can at
his head. I hope they throw her in the can
for a long time on this one. All right, let's

(01:54):
talk about Abrego Garcia mistakingly deported now returned to the
United State to face these smuggling charges. Turns out now
things could be a lot worse for him than he
anticipated coming back here.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, So initially, if you recall, a couple of months.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Ago, mister Garcia was deported to El Salvador and a
court attempted to stay his deportation, indicating that a previous
court decision had rejected his deportation because of potential harm

(02:29):
that he would suffer for an El Salvador, So he
wasn't supposed to be.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Deported to El Salvador.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
He was deported and a court then ordered the administration
or country to bring him back. He has since been
brought back, I believe sometime late last week. He is
currently detained in Tennessee. He appeared in court last week
for an arrangement hearing where he was instructed on what
his charges were. It's something to do with human trafficking

(02:57):
or smuggling of a documented individual, and his charges were
read and he is now believing.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
To be appearing in court this week for detention hearing.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
So I mean, now the court is the court's looking
at the actual claim and the actual charges and the
evidence on that.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I guess State of Maryland's gonna have to look for
a new poster boy for the Citizen of the Year award.
That's just terrible for him, isn't it? Or baby all right?
And finally, dozens of states now soon to block the
sale of twenty three and meters personal genetic data without
the customer can send here. Boy, this thing went south
pretty quick for this company.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, if you recall a few years ago, it was
it was one of those innovative companies.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I think it was one of the two highest.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Or most well known companies that were kind of doing
offering the service where you literally swabbed inside of your
cheek and send it out to them and they'll tell
you everything about you know, who you are, where you
come from, you know, and and there was some very
great upside to it. I mean, people were learning a
lot about their you know, their genetics as far as
health and potential health risks and and things like that.
So but it kind of started going downhill a couple

(04:05):
of years ago, and a company recently Resurgeon I believe
the name of the Pharmaceuticals has offered over a quarter
billion dollars to purchase it. And I think we're at
twenty seven or twenty eight states that have students said, hey,
the other there's there's a lot.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Of personal, private, literal DNA.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Information for for millions of people that that you know,
have not given consent for their information to be sold
or use it anyway. So the court has recently appointed
an independent party to review, I guess the potential harm
to these individuals.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
And and kind of review the whole crux of the selling.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Well, you know, I kind of agree with that here.
You know, the deal is, I signed up with one
company to do a certain thing, and now since they're
at South, they're going to sell the company to this
other company that's a biotechnology company. I'm not so sure
I want them having my stuff either. I mean, if
if I want to sign up for something like that,
let's just disband everything, delete everything, and introduce a new

(05:12):
plan biotech company, and you can get people to sign
up with you if they want to. This whole thing.
I'm transferring everybody over to this bucket because this bucket failed.
I got to think that the people fighting this are
going to win in the courts any any particular you
know input as far as how this may end up right.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Now, Well, it's really interesting, right because you know, although
I think you'd be hard pressed to find somebody who says,
oh yeah, when I signed up, when I bought the
twenty three and nie Kid, I consented to my information
just kind of being up for grabs for anybody who
thought it.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
You know. So the argument is, you know, maybe in
the fine print.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
There was there was some sort of of you know,
way that people were signing or whatnot, but people definitely
weren't doing it, weren't.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Doing it knowingly. And I think, you know, if you look.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
At you know, the most valuable uh information that.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
We have as our privacy and our our our uh
and so and so, I think, yeah, I think the
court has a has a big job come ahead of them,
and they're going to try to figure out what the
best solution for this is.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
All right, buddy, I appreciate your input this morning. Thank
you so much. There's Gonzale Serrano, attorney for those crazy
little stories we got going
