Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joshua. Phillip joins us. Now he's a senior investigator reporter
at the I'm going to Epic Times. I keep hearing
Epoch Times, Joshua, So is it Epoch or Epoch? What
are we calling it?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
So? American pronunciation is epic? Canadian or British is epoch?

Speaker 1 (00:18):
All right, then the Epoch Times investigatory port to Joshua.
Do you now with us?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
It's good proper at Queen's English. Right there, you go.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
All right, let's talk about what's going on with NATO.
The United States. President Trump has been screaming, Look, the
rest of you folks got to anty up when it
comes to NATO. And the supporter of the United States
has certainly been the lead in all of this, and
he had some success with us recently.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Right. Well, it's been interesting because there's been a long
running issue where NATO is just not fair share what
kind of a defense agreement where you know, you make
an agreement, Okay, we're going to defend this thing together,
and then you end up basically paying for the whole thing.
For a long time, that was essentially the situation the
United States was in. NATO has now more with the

(01:07):
exception of a few allies. But the United States has
now told NATO allies, okay, look, we're backing out of
the European theater. This is your backyard, this is your responsibility.
Trump is saying he wants to refocus the US military more.
And you know, of course, a lot of Americans this
is a big issue in the twenty twenty elections. A
lot of twenty twenty four elections, a lot of Americans

(01:29):
were not really supportive of just continually sending money out there.
The new agreement, all NATO allies are going to pay
five percent GDP for defense, with the exception of Spain
for some reason. But what they're going to do is
now start buying the weapons that we were given to Ukraine.
They're buying it from US and they're going to give

(01:50):
it to Ukraine. And that's the new agreement.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
They meaning the collective body of NATO.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yes, correct, although new reports coming out of them want
to be the one who buys from US to give
to Ukraine. But maybe that will change. Yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
It's like big pharmaceutical companies don't want to get involved
in the death penalty with the injections because you or
maybe in favor of it. You're not using my drugs
to kill people. Well, you're not gonna use my money
to help support Ukraine? Yeah, yeah, we are. You're part
of NATO. This is what we do. So I think
it behooves everybody to calm Russia down in this whole situation.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Here.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
They did, in fact invade Ukraine, and I get history.
You know, Ukraine used to be part of the Soviet Union. YadA, YadA, YadA.
But with the discussions going on between Putin and President
Trump going oh yeah, we're buddies, let's get this calmed down.
I agree, cease fire, let's stop the next thing, you know,
as soon as they hang up, the missiles are flying
again from Russia. So your thoughts on how NATO's going to,

(02:49):
you know, respond to that long term because the President
gave him a fifty day warning. I don't know why
I didn't say, you know, you got till Saturday, but
he gave him fifty days to stop the madness with
Ukraine and war or is the terroriffs are going to
come screaming in Your thoughts on all of that, right.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Well, it's been Trump's reactions have been interesting because for
a long time I think the people were probably more
critical of Voladimir Zelensky than Putin in some way, at
least at least among the Trump supporters. Trump is coming
out now and saying that he believes Putin's kind of
been giving him the run around, that he's saying, Okay, yeah,

(03:24):
we want this, but he's the one just saying it
but not really wanting it. The bigger picture, I would say,
is that the one really propping up this war. And
in fact, Chinese state media they just openly declared, which
is interesting because I never thought they'd say it openly.
I've been following this for years. I never thought they'd

(03:45):
say something this openly. They openly declared they would not
allow Russia to lose the war, but not only out
of like, you know, because Russia wants to land. They
don't want the war to end. They publicly stated they
believe that the war AUS is going to refocus on China,

(04:06):
and China of course wants to invade Taiwan right now,
and they don't want the additional military pressure, so they're
going to keep this war going as long as they
possibly can. They want a long war.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Well, it's interesting that China and Russian our adversaries have
relationships now and if he's going to prop it up
from China and Putin's going to accept that and money
and keep moving. Do you see any end in sight
for this situation?

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Well, the latest news on that side, Laos is now
sending troops to go fight alongside Russia and Ukraines. And
if you understand kind of the weird politics of that region,
when the Chinese Communist Party wants to lure dissidents to
be arrested, they disappear them. Basically, they try to lure

(04:52):
them to Laos or Cambodia. So the CCP has just
a huge influence those countries. Laos sending troops and in
addition to remember, in addition to North Korea, they're supplying
soldiers to help fight and so have the abilities.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Yeah, does that potentially ramp up our involvement in this
or not?

Speaker 2 (05:15):
I think Trump is really trying to involve getting pulled in.
That war could very easily turn into you know, it
could turn into World War three if it expands to
other Baltic states. It's already expanding in the age everything
about people sending troops, it could very easily expanding the
parts of Europe if natal allies get too if they

(05:38):
turn it from a proxy war into a direct war.
And so everybody's kind of walking on the edge of
a knife with.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
It right, right, And it certainly does not behoove Russia
or China to get involved in a World War three.
I mean, as much as they want to have control
and power and run things and take the land back,
and if it ramps up to that, that benefits nobody, don't.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
You think, Well, that's where it gets complicated. The actual
Chinese military strategy, and this comes from one of the
main advisors to Shiji Pain, individual named chin Can Ronks.
The actual strategy they had is they wanted the United
States to get pulled into four different wars. In their
own writings, they wanted a war with Russia, they wanted

(06:21):
a war in the Middle East, a terrorism war which
they almost got with Iran, and they also wanted to
war in Latin America. And in their own writings, I mean,
I don't know if this is ever gonna happen, but
they wanted the US to go to war with Brazil.
And the thinking of the Chinese advisor, you know military advisors,
is America's military can fights, but it can't fight four wars,

(06:47):
and so the fourth would of course be China invades Taiwan,
and that's their big goal. They want America just to
distract it enough and disperse enough where they can carry
out what they want and be able to do it
and still be to fight us off.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Well, there's a lot of play still left in all
of this, and you know, God help us if we
get into that situation where it is, you know, diluting
our sources. I don't want to see that whatsoever. But
you make some great points. Well, I appreciate you this morning.
That's a Joshua Philip there from the Epic Times, the
senior investigator reporter. Thank you, josh appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
