Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alabama's Morning News. I'm JT. Kevin Flanning and joins us.
Now as we head into the weekend, three new movies
to talk about, and I would imagine Smurf's is going
to be a big one this weekend.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Hi, Kevin, It's gonna be a good one. Yeah, I
think you know. They're catching the summer crowd still. They
got a couple more weeks and so it's a good time.
Parents are going, Okay, I'm tired of my kids. My
kids are tired of me. What are we going to do?
Let's go sit to Peter and this is the right
time for Papa Smurf to be taken by the evil
Wizards and brought to the real world and so, uh
smurfed Riley's you have a Smurfs and they got to
(00:30):
come into the real world deal with real people, which
is which is always kind of fun when they mix
the animation with live action, and uh, Gargamel and the
other guy, the other bad one is what's his name, Razamel.
They're they're they're the evil ones. They got Papa Smurf
and they got to rescue them. So you get some
fun interactions with human beings at Smurfs, and it'll be
it'll be a fun time with parents and kids. It's
(00:51):
traded PG, which means it's clean and safe and and
you can go and enjoy it with you. Kay. But
there is enough adult humor in this that you won't
be holy bored sitting watching a movie. Yeah, I will
say this though. It is it is a movie, but
it is. It's got a lot of music. They actually
call it a movie slash drama slash musical, so keep
that in mind.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
All right, Well, this one's not PG, that's for sure.
I know what you did last summer? What is it
the fifth or sixth in the series?
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Now, how do you know what I did last summer? Oh? Yeah,
this is uh, guys, I think there were four. This
is the fourth? Was I know what you did last
summer in nineteen ninety eight? I believe, so this will
be the fifth. But this is actually it falls in
line in a different place. But it is a modern day.
It is five friends this past year. Okay, so go
(01:39):
with me. Now it's twenty twenty four. He knows what
they did last summer? They actually killed somebody with their
car and five friends trying to cover it up, hide
it they don't take anybody knows they got away with it.
It's a year later, they're moving on with their lives
and all of a sudden they start to get killed.
So they go find two of the original folks from
the old Southport massacure back in the ninety seven movie
(01:59):
and say, hey, how do we find this person? How
do we survive this thing? And if you liked I
know what you did last summer thirty years ago or
however long it was, you'll like this. And I'm gonna
be honest, I like that first one that jump shot. Yikes,
where is this guy? Kind of deal back in the day,
So yeah, some of us old folks may like a
return to that storyline, all right.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
And finally, the third one, opening up this weekend, has
Emma Stone in it. I love her and Joaquin Phoenix.
The movie is called Eddington. What's this all about?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah, so you're in Eddington, New Mexico, with a sheriff
and a mayor who don't really get along these days,
and they're they're they're creating sides, and then they're forcing
neighbors to choose sides. So it's a negron neighbor as
the conflict rises in the small town. It's election time,
so that creates some tension. But things get pretty out
of hand when when gunshots start flying and fires start burning,
(02:47):
and and but it is a comedy. It's a dark
comedy Western, so going to it with that in mind,
it definitely deserves it's our ratings will be careful about that,
but hey, there's something for everybody if there ever was.
This week at the movie theaters,
