Speaker 1 (00:00):
Three time Olympian Mark Everett is back in the studio,
whether it's this morning, Mark runs, Well, you gotta have
a company now where you're helping folks and you know,
coaching and you're still kind of in the game.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Great to be here, thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Jt uh.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, most companies are primetime scouting. Three biggest things. We're
least expensive scouting company out there. We have a money
back guarantee. If we're not able to help, we give
you money back and we set you up with an internship.
A lot of athletes and students don't understand importance of
getting some skills so when you're out of the sport,
you can get a job. So that's one of the
things we're really focus on.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Well. I remember when my son Michael was talking to
an agent about the potential of going to the NFL
after his career at Alabama, and the first thing he said, look,
most athletes in the NFL, they're about four years okay,
so you better have a game plan and if you
do fall into the big money, you better protect that
money because seventy five percent of people coming out of

(00:54):
the league go bankrupt.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
I wish that's what they were teaching schools, but they
don't maybe finance, yes, all these books were reading all that.
Let's focus on how to live as human beings on
the planet, amen, how to balance your check book, how
to not get in debt? Yeah, you know, how to
get a credit card, how to I mean just.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
They start early with the quarters and nickels and dimes.
You know that that one video that little kid and
he's reading, goes okay, if Jaden got a quarter, a
dime and two pennies, what's Jaden got, James broke? That
is so good. Oh yeah, But the basics are there,

(01:30):
and then they just kind of let it go. Good luck.
You know you want to study finance, We'll see you
back in college. Well that's too late, all right, man,
we got off on a tangent here. Let's talk Olympics.
Can we talk boxing just for a second.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Absolutely. I mean, you know, first of all, just common sense,
men and women fighting each other is not going to
be good in any kind of capacity. I mean, that's
so there's not even really much of a conversation even
have about that. You know, people know that's not right
and so but it's all about metals, and that's the
hard thing for people understand, when you're talk about Olympics,
a lot of these countries, that's their only chance to

(02:02):
get a medal, so they're willing to chance everything trying
to get a medal for the country, which is absolutely
created at IOC or any of the committee would even
let her, let him get in there and fights.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Well, you know the country that he came from, uh
Iran is Iran? What it is? I'm almost sure it's
two of them. Let's yeah, let's check into that. But
the no Algerian, that's right, this one is an Algerian boxer.
The country didn't make the rule. The IOC allowed for

(02:32):
this to happen, and the IOC itself didn't say, come
on what they have done. They have given each sport
in the Olympics the decision of the committee that is
in that sport to make the rules and decide so.
But at any rate, the decision was made, and then

(02:52):
the Boxing Commission of the World.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yes said no, said no to this guy not passed.
You're a guy, yes, not gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
You're not going to fight women? Yes, So the International
Olympic Committee maintained Thursday that they're okay with all this.
Still after what took place in this woman getting pounded
in the face that she'd never been hit this hard before,
and I guess went to the corner and her ring
people there, the manager whatever said I can't do this.

(03:20):
I'm gonna get killed here call the fight. That was it? Yes,
so yeah, it's so common sense. I don't care if
you want to be a transgender in your life, do
you whatever, But when it comes to competition and women's sports,
where are the women's sports leaders in this country? Where
are the women's rights people in this country? They're on

(03:41):
the sidelines remaining quiet. I mean, Riley Gaines is probably
the biggest one right now as an advocate for keeping
women's sports separate because she went through it herself in swimming.
I mean, I just don't understand it. Mark, how this
continues and it looks like not going anywhere in the
President's you know her, you Comala and Joe Biden all

(04:01):
about it with Title nine changes and all this mess.
I mean, we're in a hot mess in this country.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Very much so.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
So yeah, I agree.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
My thing is, I think when people ask me about politics,
I think we need to push the reset button and
start again. Yeah, and get a whole new crew all
the way around.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
That's just me. Look, this Olympic thing is not politics. Now.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
If you let kids decide who's the president, they would
know who to pick.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yeah, you and I be in there. I do want
to talk about the games. Track gets underway today or
has time zone and all that, but today it's underway. Yes,
So more about our metal race. How we're doing the
You called it last time you were what did I say?
Give it a minute? And the US is coming.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Ranking up, We're cowing up. We're like a pot just cooking,
you know, we're just putting the season and in and
the flavors start coming out. And here we go.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
You talking about Grandma's Sunday Morning too, Well, you don't know.
I mean, it starts in the morning, but you don't
eat till five, and it's cooking all day.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I'll never forget when I was a little kid and
I go in the kitchen and I said, Mom, I'm hungry,
and to open a fridger and I saw nothing, And
about thirty minutes later, it's a whole meal on it said.
My mom was like David Copperfield, that was old all right.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
You were here Tuesday with me and you told me
because we were like in third place with the medals,
hang on, hang on, it's coming. And then track starts today,
and you think we're going to do real well there.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yes, as I said, uh, this Olympics, this is going
to be a record breaking Olympics for all for just USA.
It's going to be unbelievable in all sports. But as
I told you before, just keep watching this year. We
have a chance to win a medal in every single event.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Well, you were a track guy, ran individual right, what
different Olympics were you? What years were you again?

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Eighty eight, ninety two, miss ninety six and went to
two thousands.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Okay, three decades. Well, track and field, your your events
are are they've already started. Time wise, there was seven
hours over there, so I think in Paris now we're
you know, eight thirty almost eight thirty pm, so all
the day activities are coming doing in there in Paris.
But track and field we're going to do pretty well there.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Absolutely, it's gonna be exciting.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
We got nine gold right now, maybe more than that
since the games have already started for today, but we're
in first places overall medals right now at thirty eight,
so we're breaking Olympic records, and I think you're right,
it's going to continue.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
To Just look at some of the events that we
weren't getting medals in that we're now getting medals in.
I meaning it's coming. The team is strong, USA team
is strong. That red, white, and blue means something.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Yeah, so let me ask you, the next Summer Games
are coming back to the United States.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yes, Los Angeles, right, Well, what happened is give you
a quick story. We had the Olympics in eighty four
in Los Angeles, and then we had them in ninety
six in Atlanta. And when we had them in Atlanta,
after the Games were over with. Basically, it's all about
a legacy. So when they have the Olympics in a country,
they want to keep all that there so the kids
can come and see the track and all that. Well,

(06:53):
what the Atlanta committee did is got rid of the track,
and so the IOC said we'll never have the Olympic
in America again. For so a long time they didn't
have it. They we couldn't win a bit. And so
LA stepped up and said, if you'll let us have
the Olympics here, we'll keep the track. So well, Michael Johnson,
all these athletes in ninety six broke records. You can't
go to see it. It's just a park.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I mean, so that's not the legacy of the Olympics.
It's all about building sports, not tearing it down. So
Atlanta kind of came in and did a money grab,
built the stadium, tore it down, put a baseball field
and all that. That's I mean, So you can't even
go to the track where Michael Johnson all that.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Oh, that's a shame. That is a shame. So LA, well,
that's going to be insane. Getting the Los Ange La
is insane on a regular day, let alone bringing the
world to it and the amount of people in traffic
and good luck. Yeah right, yeah, get a big TV,
would you go? No?

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I mean I no, no, I've had I used to
live in Italy and so you know, pably Italian. I
don't used to spak Italian, and so Italian TV used
to always try to get me to come over and
commentate and I said no, I said I'll do it
from home.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
So no, yeah, I don't think I jumped to the man.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Now, if I had a child at the Olympics, for sure,
that's sure.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
And if you had credentials that could get you close
to the events and things as opposed to parking four
miles away. And you're sitting in the you know, the
fifth level of the event stadium and just, oh my, can.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
You imagine what uber would be?

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Oh my god, go somewhere, I mean left three blocks,
four hundred dollars?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
How about the hotels?

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Forget about? You can't even imagine? No, no, no, all right,
well I appreciate you coming in. And the Olympics continue
all through the weekend all next week. Believable, they don't
end until next Sunday. So we'll get you back in
here Monday or Tuesday, and I have some more fun.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
We're gonna win medals, medals, medals and more metals.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
All right, you got an event coming up with some
hot dogs?

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yes, so at Tony's hot Dog. This Saturday is my
annual back to school drive where I give out school back.
So come out to Tony's hot Dogs and pell them
from nine to one and get free school spot tomorrow tomorrow.
You're the best. I'm trying to do my best. You
catch me in good moments, all right?
