Speaker 1 (00:00):
Paul de Barco joining us in the studio. Now, all
good to see it. Happy Fourth of July.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Week with you guys on this week?
Speaker 1 (00:05):
Are you going to uh vacation anywhere? You're gonna be
serving barbecue? Old miss, I mean old miss.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'll be our lady Sorrows and home would serving barbecue
ten to three o'clock.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Yeah, it's gonna be crowded. It always is, and hopefully
we come.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
To home right now. The smell of it, I.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Know, I know you guys do a great job. I
love it over there. That's where Judy and I got married.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
By the way, Well come on, did you know that
I did not know? I got married there as well
back in the day.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah, all right, let's talk about the waterworks for you
heard my guest Jeff from a little part of the
board there.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Was just in studio. I was so glad that Shelby
County appointed Jeff. He's going to do a great job.
Then tire board, you know, the changing of the guard
log over to long over and again. I think the
more they dig, it's gonna be like old cheese.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I think somebody. You think somebody could go to jail.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Well, you know you hear rumors about some but if
you look at the history, you hope not You hope
nobody goes. But if somebody broke the law, they need
to go to jail. Well, and I think the more
they dig, they're going to find questionable that could rise
to the point that you need a prosecutor to come
in and investigate.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
One hundred percent. A fiduciary responsibility lies with them to
use our money the best way seen for the rate payers.
And if they got to get in there with a
forensic accounting expert, get after it.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
I've been calling for that for years.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yes, and a lot of people.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
This is one of the biggest deals this year.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
So all right, speaking of boards, our parole board making
the news these days.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Big appointment by the governor this week. League Wealthy, the
current chair is up for reappointment. Her term actually expired
on Monday. We need the governor to reappoint League Wealthy.
She's done a great job. She's being attacked by folks
who want violent felons out of jail.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Well, that's what I'm hearing from everybody. She needs to
come back in here. She needs to be reappointed and
the governor needs to be very decisive in that and
when will she make that decision.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
We're waiting a say, it could be this week. But
the governor appointed Leegal Wealthing the first time to clean
up the problems with the parole board when they're letting
violent felons out. So now it's governor. This is an
easy pick. This is a no brainer. Don't weaken the
pro boar. The only people are gonna be happy are
those who are for criminals and far left advocacy groups,
those who want public safety in Alabama. Won't League Wealthy reappointed.
(02:13):
Call the governor's office and say, please, Governor Ivy reappointment.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
One hundred percent hundred percent. And you know these democrats
that are pushing you see what New York City's doing.
This new mayor that could win, that got the Democratic
nomination there. He wants to replace the police with social workers.
Remember that wave that swept this country years ago. Oh yeah,
let's just you know, forget that. We don't need bad,
mean police. Let's just send social workers and understand why
(02:37):
people are committing crimes. So you call nine to one one, Yeah,
we're going to send a social worker over to talk
about this. No, send the cavalry with guns. I want
these people out of my house. They're raping I'm my family.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
And that led to more crime, violent crime in this country.
So those are the kind of results.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
All right, let's talk a little bit while it's happening.
With the Senate now voting yesterday, it took jd Vance,
our Vice President, to get this thing pushed through. It
is back in the hands of the House and uh,
hopefully they'll get this into the President saying by forth
of July. But it's the potential for this thing to
possibly go back to the Senate again if they don't
work this out.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
The margins are so thin in the House and in
the Senate the Vice President had to be the deciding
vote because there were right a couple of Republicans it
did not vote for it. So yes, JT. I mean,
I know the President won't sit by the fourth of July,
but anything could happen in the next couple of days
because the margins are so thin. The Senate took out
what some of the House members wanted. And so if
the House, if the conference coming goes back and say no,
send it back.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
So this could ping if things are changed too drastically.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Exactly the House members say no, a.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Little bit of change is okay if the.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
House passes, but it's still got to be the same
bill obviously, you know from civics one on one, it's
got to be the same bill that's got to pass
both the House and the Senate. Even if there's a
little changes, you still have to House there, and then
you got to.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Go back and let them vote on the little changes.
So this could go ping pong again.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Somebody's going to have to say, you know what, I'm
not going to get everything I want right, it's build up.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Well, I think we've already seen that. I mean, you
saw what happened with the Senate. Then transgender surgery thing
didn't come out like it should have, and.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
So House members say, no, we're going to put that
back in an incident, you've got us.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
So funny for planned parenthood didn't go away.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
So the Speaker of the House has got a big
job to do to try to get the votes to
get it to pass.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
You're a betting man. We get this done by Joan North.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
I don't know if I think it gets done. I
don't know if it gets done by the fourth job,
but I think it does get done. I think it
does get done. This is too I'm.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Going the other way. I think it's done by dinner tonight.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Well maybe so, I look, I think it will be.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
I don't know. I'm just saying I think.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Ultimately, the big beautiful bill will pass.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
There. You go, all right, stay with us. You know
what this is. I know it's only Wednesday, but in
this week's world, it's I mean kind of Friday. I
mean I've been in a Friday mode since Monday. So
you won't be here, none of us will be here
Friday for the fourth. You won't be here tomorrow because
you're going to be over there cutting barbecue at our
Lady of Sorrows and get ready for the big festivities
