Speaker 1 (00:00):
Those of winds. See you by Steven out of Temple
keeping with them.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
The song on the radio, I.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Gotta keep what baby song?

Speaker 3 (00:18):
And maybe want to roll my windows down and close.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Good afternoon, and welcome to the car show. I'm fifty
five KRC the talk station.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
I'm Dame Donovan from Donovan's Auto entire Center taking your
car questions. I'd love to hear from you the number
to call five one three seven fifty five hundred. That
number again, five one three seven nine fifty five hundred.
I hope everybody's enjoying the holidays. Uh, you know, we've
got a big week coming up here. You know, I

(00:51):
don't know if you know, but a couple of days
from now Wednesday morning, We've got a lot of them. Uh,
We've got some presents coming, and we've got Santa coming.
So I hope everybody's out there getting their shopping done.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
I know I was earlier this morning.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
In fact, I had to tax my producer and said, hey,
I am stuck in a line at at a store,
and I and just.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I made it.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Actually was a little bit earlier than I typically typically
well usually I'm late, so early for me is like
on time. So but yeah, it was. It was here
on time today, so but I didn't think I was
gonna make it.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
It was.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
It was brutal out there, just doing some shopping. And
you know, it's tis the season, right, So a couple
of days we've got Christmas and then next week we've
got New Year's and it's twenty twenty five. I cannot
believe how quickly this year has, uh has flown by,
and uh, you know, you just you don't you don't

(01:55):
realize it. You know, you just go through the day
to day, the day to day operations, and you just
don't realize and all of a sudden you blink and
boom the years over.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
So it's just crazy.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
But would be a good idea if you're looking or
thinking about, right, maybe a Christmas present for a loved
one or a family member or a child. Not a
bad idea to get their car repaired. Right, So they're
going to be in town, so probably most college students.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
They're probably in town.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Now. Would be a great time to think about that
car instead of calling two days before you know, oh my,
you know, my son and my daughter's leaving for school
two days can you get.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Them in you know, now's the time to do it.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Think about that and just make sure that that car
is ready to go back to college.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
I know it's difficult.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
I know it's challenging to try to get the car
out of the out of their control, so you can
get it to the repair shop.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
But now's the time to start thinking about that.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
And again, not that anybody wants to get a set
of tires for Christmas. I know that's not probably what
anybody wants, but some people probably appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Right.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
You might have a friend or a family member, or
maybe just somebody in your local church or your or
your or your local you know, Bible group or you
know whatever your local neighborhood group what and and and
they might not be able to afford some type of
a car repair or some type of tire repair or replacement.

(03:27):
And it's just, you know, sometimes we get caught up
and giving somebody a present or giving somebody a gift card.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Right, but let's think about the you know, if you
see a local.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Member of your paris that is struggling or maybe uh,
you know, might need some type of car repair or
a free oil change or tires or brakes or something
like that. I think sometimes we don't think about those things.
We think about just giving gifts. And I understand that
putting tires on somebody's car or it's not like this

(04:00):
magical thing and everybody's going to be stoked about it, right,
but it's something that would they would greatly appreciate in
the sense that they need that transportation, They need that
vehicle to get there, to get to work, or to
get their children to sports, or get their children to
school or something like that.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
So just you know, it's just.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Something to think about, and it doesn't it can be
who any of the listeners.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
You know.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
You don't have to bring it to Donovan's. You can
take it to any of your local repair shops. But
just like, hey, listen, I want to give you a
free set of tires for your car, you know, and
I really think that people would appreciate that. So it's
just a thought. I'm not saying that you have to
do it. It's just a thought that, hey, look, there
are when you're maybe racking your brain trying to figure

(04:46):
out what to get somebody, and if there's somebody that's
in need of some type of car repair, would be
maybe a great gift that I think that they would help.
It would definitely help them out. So it's just a thought,
so especially going into uh are our Christmas or you know,
we we've only got a couple of days left, so
think about it. And we've already seen a little a

(05:08):
little bit of snow. Nothing's really stuck to the ground.
Ground's been kind of too warm. But listen, we all
need tires, we all need to get back and forth
to work in school.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
And it's just something to think about, right.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
So uh again, I'm here, love to take your car
questions and number to call five one three seven hundred.
That number gain five to one three seven fifty five hundred.
Phone lines are wide open, love to hear from you,
so please give me a call. We're gonna go to
the phones. We've got Bill, Hey, Bill, welcome to the
car show.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
How can I help either?

Speaker 6 (05:40):
I have the weird one of the day.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Okay, the first first one, first one out of the
day too.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
I bought a twenty one Tundro when I knew that
they were getting away from the B eight.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Why we're in the truck.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Loved it.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
I got rear ended in totals in twenty two. Okay,
so I negotiated with the insurance company to pip premium
to get me another twenty one used and I bought
it from a Toyota dealer out of state. The truck
had seventy nine hundred miles on it and it was
pretty close to what I had.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
So did a.

Speaker 6 (06:13):
Deal and had the insurance company paid for the premium.
I think Toyota called a platinum warranty on the on
the vehicle and got the truck. Love it, still driving it.
My problem is the first time I took it in
for an oil change, they recorded the mileage, and when
I took it into the Second World change, I had
the truck for over a year now, it had the
same mileage. So the text said, hey, no problem. I

(06:36):
couldn't figure out how to set the I thought it
was stuck, you know, the trip or something was stuck.
Text says, no problem, we'll take care of it, bringing
in for a electrical. So I bring it in and
he says, no charge it. You've got the Platinum service.
You know it won't cost you anything. I take it
into the electrical. They find out that the truck was
originally built in Canada, traded in in the States, and
the dealer in the States that took the truck in

(06:59):
swapped the kilometer driven chip on the odometer for one
in Imperial miles, and in the process rolled the mileage back.
So not only did I not get a truck with
seventy nine hundred miles on it, I got a truck
with closer to forty thousand.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Miles on it.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
And I've emailed and called them. I've been emailing and
calling trying to get a live human for about two
months now, and I can't get anyone. I've sent paper
letters through the mail. I know they got them. You know,
I use the tracking information or whatever. No one will
talk to me. So I'm ready to go to the
next level, and that's fire attorney, I guess, and do

(07:37):
something litigation wise. Is there an attorney or an attorney
group in Cincinnati that specializes in auto title and similar
issues that you've ever dealt with.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Oh, that's a that's a great question, and I no,
I man, okay, So well that's that is? That is uh,
that is I've never heard that. That's wild. I didn't
even know.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
So. So the dealership, so the dealership that you.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Bought it from out of state, they did the chip
swap or yes, okay, And.

Speaker 6 (08:14):
Matter of fact, the Toyota tech that they apparently have
a guy that goes dealership to dealership that does her
electric work. He was able to pull up and showed
me where they changed the chip and where they attempted
to mess with whatever. The the control module is that
manages the odometer and oh it gets better. When they
figured this out. I got built for the tech time,

(08:38):
even though it was a part of the platinum wartee
because Toyota canceled my warranty because they can't verify the mileage.
So I got to bill to find this out.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Too, and then process, Oh my gosh, what a man that.
I'm sorry you have to go through that. I what
a you know, I have never ever heard that. I mean,
I've heard people rolling o doomeiners back, but in this
with the software that's out there, it's almost impossible.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
But apparently somebody's figured it out.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
So you got so the truck really has forty seven
thousand miles on it, not seventy nine.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
They're figuring it's somewhere that I got the truck somewhere
between twenty seven and thirty thousand miles based on the
points that they see in the computer. And I'm not
sure exactly how they did this. They gave me a
print out. I don't have a whitnasm. Driving the truck,
the odometer reads seventy nine to fifty six. And now
that I think once this guy pointed it out on

(09:34):
the oil change, I'm like, yeah, it's been reading that
since I got it. I you know, I just figured
I was screwing up, not figured not getting it out
of trip or something like that. So I bought the
truck advertised seventy nine hundred miles on it, and they
think that a year into this it's closer to forty.
And I may have put six or seven on it.
I actually have two trucks, and so I'm I'm looking

(09:56):
at all I said to put a set of tires
on it. That blow me a way too. I'm like,
puku's a set of tires in eight thousand miles. So
that so I'm looking at depreciation on the mileage the
values lower. I paid a premium for this truck to
get one with eight thousand miles on it. Well, State
Farm paid a premium for it, but you get the point.
And then I paid like an extra three or four

(10:17):
grand State Farm did for this platinum warranty, which Toyota
is now canceled because of the mileage difference.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
She self PETE.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
So my total, my total out.

Speaker 6 (10:28):
I don't know about depreciation on the value, but I'd
say I'm probably out close to ten thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Wow. Cool, What is the deal? I'm assuming you've called it?
What's the dealership saying?

Speaker 6 (10:41):
I can't get a human to talk to me?

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Oh wow.

Speaker 6 (10:43):
I've emailed the salesman that I bought it from, and
then I about a couple of months ago, I get
a random like hey, or have you thought about buying
a new truck? Email from the dealership. So I get
this guy's email address, I send him a copy of
the of what I said to the salesman. Nothing. I
called the dealership. I got sales manager and the general
manager's information. I left voicemails on probably five or six

(11:06):
occasions for each one of them, and I've emailed both
of them. My last was a letter and a copy
of the information that I got from Toyota with you
know the service ticket number and you know how they
do it in their in their computer system. I sent
all of that to them with a you know, a
signature required. They signed for it, and I've called two

(11:27):
or three times in the last two weeks trying to
get someone to talk to me about it, and no
one will take my call. So they've not acknowledged me.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
Gotcha, what what state? I mean, you don't have to
What state is this dealership?

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Been Wisconsin and I'm in Ohio right right absolutely.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
Matter of fact, I've been in your shop several times
there on Ridge. You guys put tires on my F
one fifty the last time you got That's what I figured.
May I give you guys a shot? I had no
clue what I management.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
Yeah, I mean, I've twenty five years of doing this
I've never heard of. I mean, I've seen people roll
like the you know, the old school old dominos back,
but in this digital world, I've never seen or heard this.

Speaker 6 (12:17):
So I don't work from the people were from from
Toyota doesn't say odomger fraud. But the the service writer
at the Toyota dealership basically took me inside and said, hey,
we're not going to write this down, but you probably
are gonna end up doing something legal with these people
because it looks like what they did was nefarious. Yeah,
and it's a legit Toyota dealership and was cotton. Man,

(12:42):
I wasn't a lot or something like that.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
He's a legit dealership.

Speaker 6 (12:47):
Yeah, all right, Well I'm sorry.

Speaker 7 (12:50):
Yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Figured being exasperated. I don't know where we're else to look.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Well, yeah, Bill, so real quick to uh. It looks
like my next caller's name is Larry. He said he
has a tip for you, So I'm gonna hang out
with you.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
So continue to listen. He says he has a tip.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Okay, so just stay on, you know, just continue to
listen and then I'm gonna talk to Larry and we'll
find out. But I do need to take a short
break and then i'll get I'll get to Larry. All right,
Good luck, though, man, I'm sorry you have to go
through that. Man, Merry Christmas, all right, all right, take
care bye bye.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Man.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
I tell you what I mean, even even if you
brought your car to me and I inspected it, I'll
be honest with you, I don't we would have never
been able to catch that because we don't have the
software to.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Get in there and do that. But how deceiving, and
it's just.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
That's why it's important to make sure that when you're
buying a vehicle that you get it inspected in it also,
well I'll talk about it a little bit, but buying
aftermarket warranties as well.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
I'm furious with.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
A customer, or not not a customer, but a insurance
company that I'm dealing with right now too. And it's
it's important that you continue to listen to say you
need to hear this.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Because it's just it's not right.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
To buy aftermarket car warranties. And it's not right what
you know, Bill had to go through as well. So
it's it's important to get these cars inspected. But I'll
be honest with you, I don't know that we would
have been able to call it because we we would
not have been able to get into the software and
determine that. So all right, again, taking any phone calls
in order to call five one three seven four nine

(14:34):
fifty five hundred that number again, five one three seven
four nine fifty five hundred.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Phone lines were wide open. Coming up. We've got Larry.
You're listening to the car show on fifty five KRC
the talk station.

Speaker 7 (14:44):
This is fifty five KRC an iHeartRadio station.

Speaker 8 (15:13):
Call five one three eight two nine ninety thirty eight
to nine ninety thirty.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Taking your car questions the number to call five one, three,
seven four nine fifty five hundred. I always have to pause,
and I do that, even though I do this every Saturday.
You know, I've got my all my other locations and
all their numbers, and you always tend to give the
wrong number out.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
I do it.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
I might do it maybe maybe I don't know. Maybe
once a month, maybe once every other week. You know,
I've got You've got the ridge location, the oil change shop,
the new auto form, and you get the radio station,
So I want to make sure.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
I'm sure you know I haven't done it yet. I
hope I don't. I'm going to knock on wood.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
Hopefully I don't jinx myself the number to call five
one three. All right, let's go back to the phones.
We've got Bill. Hey, Bill, welcome to the car show.
How can I help?

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Uh? Oh, I'm sorry, Larry.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
I apologize. See screw screwed it up? Larry, I apologize.
How can I help you? It was afore Bill we
were talking about Bill, So I apologize.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Can I help you?

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Well?

Speaker 7 (16:25):
I heard his story, and first, just if he's listening,
I wouldn't really go to the attorney route because that
can get costly. And second, he probably would have to
find an attorney license in Wisconsin. Now I do know
a firm in Wisconsin. But the easiest thing for him
to do, and he can do it right now, is
get on the computer, google the Attorney General's office in

(16:46):
the state of Wisconsin and file a complaint against that
dealership and by god, go get it straightened out for him.
No threat, and I'm going to put people in jail.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Because what they did was a criminal activity. So that's
what he needs to do.

Speaker 7 (17:00):
If he's listening, contact Wisconsin State of Tennery's office and
you can file a complaint right online. Okay, no'll go
after him, No, go after him for him.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
I told Bill to stay on.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
I told Bill that I was going to get to
you in that to continue to listen. So stay attorney's
office file a complaint.

Speaker 7 (17:17):
And yeah, yeah, because I mean that's almost a criminal matter.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
I mean it's a criminal matter.

Speaker 7 (17:23):
Absolutely, they'll pay attention to them because they can go
in here and shut that whole dealership down. But other
than that, I have a quick question on my own car.
I have a mind of five to ten, and I
was just wondering your fault. So I was thinking about
trying to get some kind of ear injection on it
and maybe possibly get a more better muffler or sports muffler,

(17:43):
just to kind of hop it up a little bit.
Do you think that worked for me?

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yeah, I would get uh if I were you.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
If it's available bozel.

Speaker 7 (17:56):
Bozo.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Have you ever heard of Bozel?

Speaker 7 (17:58):
Well, no I have not. I mean, you know, it's
kind of hard to find a cold air injection for
two point three that I believe this is, uh.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Yeah, I mean cold well, the cold air are you
talking about the cold air intake?

Speaker 7 (18:14):
Yeah, I just want to open it up, you know,
an open air one, so to speak, a tube and
then the field. But it just really seems really hard
to find any dealerships that are willing to do anything
car dealerships that are are not car dealership with camic shops.
It's really want to get into that. I mean, it's
pretty much just uh, you know, oem parts and that's it.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
Yeah, I mean, well you mentioned did you say you
mentioned you wanted to do the exhaust as well.

Speaker 7 (18:41):
It's I've got one hundred and fifty on it and
it's got the original muffler on it, so I mean,
ain't hurt the replaces. I may get like a flow
mass if I didn't know your thoughts on that. I mean,
I don't want nothing to sound too tacky, but uh yeah,
you know I have Over the summer, I had a
gentle and cut my uh I think it's called the
reservoir all. Really, that's why I started thinking about more power,

(19:04):
because I cannot believe the amount of power and torque
the horse power increase by just cutting that off. It's
it's it's insane, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
And I just want to you know, I've got a
fifteen year old car. I just want to be able
to keep up with today's traffic.

Speaker 7 (19:16):
And I'll tell you what it doesn't have.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Yeah, like I said, bozel is an exhaust, it's a muffler.
It's it's an exhaust system that would kind of expand
on the the resonator being out.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
But as far as like.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
As far as like a cold air intake, I mean,
I don't know if anyone.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
Not recommend it for the winner because it gets too cold.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
I mean yeah, if I if I were you, I
would just stick to like just do a kN K
and n cann al.

Speaker 7 (19:45):
Yeah, I know what that is. Now, I could buy
one of those myself and just put it in.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
I mean, but they have them like cone shape, so
I mean you can buy one that is just a
regular standard filter rate, which is fine. The problem here,
here's my The problem with the cold air intakes is
a lot of times you know you're you're messing with
the mass hair flow sensor, and you know you can

(20:10):
get a leak in the system and cause all kinds
of it can cause check engine lines and issues.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
So if you went with just a straight up.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
Cann filter change and then the BOSI exhaust with the
resonator gone.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
I think that's where you'll benefit the most.

Speaker 7 (20:27):
Okay, well, that actually helps me out a great deal.
I'm glad that because I wanted that's the route I
was thinking about going, exactly what you just told me.
So thank you very much for that information. Trying to
stay away from, you know, the cold air intakes. I'll
tell you, years ago, I had a Honda preight loot
and I went to one of these fast oil and
loop shops and they said, oh, you need a new

(20:49):
air filters. They put one in, and I'll tell you
it just took about fifty percent of my power aways
from that little car. Yeah, it was fun to drive.
It was fun to drive before I went there and
put a probably place on type of cheap air filler
or who knows how they might have installed it wrong,
but it is really time the power down off of it.
So okay, thanks a lot. I've got stuff once off

(21:11):
of that, gentleman.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
All right, well, thank you, I'll take care. Man.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
The phone lines are man, I appreciate everybody call them
and you guys are man lighting us up, so I
appreciate it. So the number call five one, three, seven,
four nine fifty five hundred. Let's go to Gary and Georgetown. Hey, Gary,
welcome to the car show. How can I help?

Speaker 9 (21:30):
Hello?

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Do I need to get all the speaker phone?

Speaker 4 (21:33):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Yes please if you could?

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Okay that better? Yes, sir, two things illegal issue. But
the guy in Wisconsin, which you need to remember, that's
one of the Blue States and back time, it's not mistaken.
That's where Tim Walls came from. I would not depend
on their boards. You have a lawyer, local lawyer, or
do it yourself. You send them saying you got thirty

(21:58):
days to respond or on pay you to court in
Cincinnati or whatever, well, whatever city he's in. You make
them come to you and say we're going to talk
about this in front of a local judge. And oh,
it's amazing how these people will settle with you when
they find out they're not going to be able to
do anything but get summoned to court. And you know,

(22:20):
Wisconsin's what three hundred miles away from here. Pay a
lawyer to come down here. They'll settle with you out
of court. I did this with an insurance company. My
mom had a bad insurance problem and the insurance people said,
oh no, we can't settle with her. The end result,
well that was they not only paid my mom's claim,
but they also paid me five hundred dollars as a

(22:42):
consulting fee, just to keep you pursuing them. But you know,
sue them locally here in the area. Don't try to
get an attorney in Wisconsin. The other thing is on
the mufflers. I heard you were talking about that. I've
got a very rare Toyota. It's an eighty seven Vagum

(23:05):
that has that high performance four valve for cylinder two
liter and if I seet transmissioned I when I got
the car, it had about two hundred thousand miles on it,
and I had a somebody put a core term turbo
muffer on it, which is cute, but it's noisy. I

(23:26):
did some praying. A lot of people don't want to
hear that. I see, well, let me had to do
this thing. I went underneath the car and majured the
space that I could have and muffler put in. I
then went to the muffler catalogs at the local car
dealership excuse me, the parts companies, and said, what have
you got here? In a This was a twenty nineteen

(23:46):
twenty twenty twenty one muffler. I got the highest performance,
quietest muffer I could for. I think it was a Cadillac,
but it was a twenty twenty one model muffler being
put on a nineteen eighty seven cars. The new mufflers
have all of the built in tricks that most of
these type oferformance muffers do, but they're made to be quiet.

(24:10):
So this was a single in let, dual outlet muffler.
It was about twice the size of the turbo muffler
that I took.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
Off of there.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Then I added two of those little resonator tips, got
them from all the Zonner something and wells of them on.
Don't put them all with the bolts, so you'll find
them lying by the side of the road like I've
seen another one lying there. They put them on and
then have somebody tack well the thing right up against
the muffler. But when I did that, the call got

(24:37):
way more power and it was actually quieter than what
I took off of there. Some getting better mileage, better power,
And what I did was that, you know, put a
stock muffler, but it was for a bigger cost like
one of those big three hundred and ninety or whatever
cubicung engines versus my little ninety one c C engine

(24:58):
you know, whatever it is. Pardon me, two thousand ninety
one gives against this, but that's what worked for me,
and I got the high performance, but without all the rockets.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
All right, well, great, I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Okay, we have less and y'all have a merry Christmas, you.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Too as well. Thank you for the question. You have
a great day. Bye bye.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
All right again, take your phone calls and I'm gonna
call it five on three seven. Uh coming up, We've
got uh, we have Jim, Jim, Yeah, Jim, Dan, Tim
and Tom so uh everybody. I appreciate your phone calls
and continue to hold and I will take care of them.

(25:40):
And thank you so much for listening to our show
on fifty five krs the talk station.

Speaker 10 (25:44):

It's just to give you guidance and to try to
help you out because there are so many conversations that

(27:05):
we need to have. And there's so many times, and
if you listen to me a lot, there's so many
times I talk about, you know, oil changes, which is
the simplest, most ridiculous thing that I get upset about.
And then you know, just general maintenance and making sure
that you know you can keep your car on the

(27:26):
road as long as you possibly can. I know that
it's a depreciating asset, but really you need to make
sure you keep that car on the road as long
as you possibly can. And that's what I'm here for
again every Saturday. And if you don't have time, or
if I can't get to you on Saturdays, you're welcome
to call me at work Monday through Friday. I will
take your question and you can call me and say, hey, Dan,

(27:48):
what do you think about this? Love to hear from me.
I'd love to take care of you. All right, let's
go back to the phones we've got. Jim, Hey, Jim,
welcome to the car show. I appreciate your holding. How
can I help you?

Speaker 5 (27:57):
Yes, I'll friend of mine was telling me that the
unleaded eighty eight is a lot better than the regular
eighty seven, and the medium eighty nine in the premium
ninety three are those made for certain cars or for
or certain engines. It's the blue hose the gas stations.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Well, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
Well, I've never what I've never seen a blue hose
you're talking about.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
There's the e eighty five, which is the yellow cap
and the yellow hose, and right next to that it
is a blue hose with eighty eight, and then next
to that is the stuff that we all use eighty seven,
eighty nine and ninety three.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
I'll be honest with you, I've never seen a blue
I mean, obviously, the e eighty five is fanol that.
I mean some cars. You can't put that in every car.
But the blue hoe's what part I don't. I mean,
I've only I've only seen eighty seven, eighty nine and
ninety three.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
Okay, I mean Thornton's cases, they've got them.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
I guess I need to pay attention more. I've never
seen that. But okay, I've never seen that. But geezel pizza.
So where do you see them at?

Speaker 5 (29:28):
At Thornton's Thornton's and Casey's.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Casey's. Where's Casey's at? Is there one close?

Speaker 5 (29:39):
It's up here? In Butler County, Okay, there's four or
five of them up direct this direction, but Thornton's is all.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
Over right, So you've got you've got your standard hos.
You know, obviously you got diesel. You're eighty five, and
you're eighty seven, eighty nine and ninety three.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
But there's an eighty eight with a blue hose.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Yes, good God, I don't know what rock I've been
living under, but I've I don't I've never seen I've
never seen one. But anyways, anyways, we've had this conversation before.
I mean, as far as your eighty you know, obviously

(30:21):
you have to make sure obviously if your car is gasoline,
you don't use diesel, right, and then if your car
is not. But as far as eighty eight, god, I've
never I've just never seen it. But anyways, should it

(30:42):
shouldn't be an issue. I've never I've had this conversation
multiple times. I've never seen somebody's car break down or
prematurely break down, or they're be an issue because of
the fuel that they used, in the sense that as
long as it's unleaded, right, you got to make sure
if you're takes e eighty five and you can put

(31:02):
it in there if it takes diesel, but as.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Far as eighty eight and.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
Okay, I don't think you're gonna have anya.

Speaker 5 (31:11):
You'll you'll have to look next time. Okay, I appreciate
your time.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
All right, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
I've never seen a blue gas hose. I mean, listen,
I'm I'm forty years old. I have never seen a
blue gas hose. I'm I guess I'm just puzzled. I
just I don't know. I'm gonna look. I'm driving past
the Thornton's after i leave here, and I'll find out

(31:40):
if they've got a blue hose.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
But I've never seen it.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
If you've seen it, call me apparently I've I'm pretty
I'm a pretty vigilant person, and I have never seen
a blue gas hose. So I'm I don't know, I
don't know what he Maybe I've just completely missed the question.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
So all right, let's go back to the phones. You've got. Dan. Hey, Dan,
welcome to the car Show. How can I help?

Speaker 9 (32:04):
Thank you?

Speaker 4 (32:04):
Dan.

Speaker 9 (32:05):
I'm a long time listener to the Car Show on Saturday,
and I have an Accura two thousand and seven TSX,
and I brought it has two hundred and fifty nine
thousand miles, and I brought it to your shop a
short time ago. I don't know if you remember me
or not.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
I do. It's a white car.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
It had like two hundred and yeah fifty or two
hundred and thirty thousand miles on it, two.

Speaker 9 (32:28):
Hundred and fifty nine thousand, and I had all kinds
of trouble with an f CAN failure and all kinds
of communications that were showing on the display TSP, TSPM issues,
kind of the display was acting like an alternator was
going out, and my regular, my regular mechanic, he did

(32:53):
not have all the diagnostics that he needed. And I
had called you on the phone, and once again you
don't know me from Adam. I call you and I
share with you what's going on, and you said, let
me look into it a little bit. And then the
following day you and I communicate once again and we
talked about it, and you're still really not sure what
the problem is. And then you say, I'll get back

(33:13):
to you. And what you did was you did a
bunch of research. And that's what the listening audience needs
to know about the call.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Today.

Speaker 9 (33:21):
You went out of your way. You went the extra
mile from me, and you found out what was wrong
with my car. I ordered a part that was necessary
off of Amazon. I brought the car over to your
shop and you worked on it. You had it for
three or four days, if I recall, and you and
a number of your technicians had driven it around. I

(33:43):
called you on a Friday and you said, hey, let
me keep it over the weekend and you come back
on Monday. And I came in on that Monday and
I said what do I owe you? And you said, well, listen,
take it home. And this is what's really unusual, and
that your listeners really need to hear this. This is
unbelievable and I will continue to bring my cars to

(34:04):
you because of this. You said to me, take it home.
I didn't pay anything at that time. Take it home,
drive it, make sure that it's fixed correctly, and then
get back to me. And that's what I did. And
I'll tell you what that car has been driving magnificently.
I'm a nut about my car. The communications on the

(34:25):
car from the repair are perfect.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
The cars running like a gem.

Speaker 9 (34:30):
I've got to fifty nine on it right now, and
I will keep it for a long time to come.
For those of you out there who are listening to
the car show today, I'll tell you what. You want
to go to a place that is clean. You want
to go to a place where they have professionals in
the office. Go to Dane's Carcare. They do a great job.
So that's the reason for my call, buddy, Dan.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
I appreciate that, I really do, because you know, that's
why I'm here, That's what you know, that's what ultimately
I'm just here to do. I don't always fix everybody's
car perfectly, but to get in a praise like that,
I really do appreciate it because.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
I yeah, ninety nine percent.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
We live in a society whether no matter if you're
a dentist or car mccan't whatever, right, we live in
a society where you only hear negative feedback, you never
hear positive feedback.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
And I appreciate that, I really do.

Speaker 9 (35:31):
You're very welcome, and Dane. My father owned two service
stations and he had two men that worked for him
his entire career, their entire careers. One he was honest,
He was a good businessman. He was straight up front,
very forward, and he charged a fair price. Everybody's in
business to make a dollar, no doubt about it. But

(35:52):
it was a fair price and if there was ever
an issue, you know, they came back and Dad picked
it and it.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Was no problems.

Speaker 9 (35:58):
So once again, I thank you, buddy, and I'll see
you soon.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
All right, Well, thank you so much. I can't thank
you enough for the phone call.

Speaker 4 (36:05):
It it means a means a world to me, because
I mean, that's that's what I'm here to just help everybody. Yes, yes,
of course I'm here to work on cars and make money,
but it's it's also about taking care of the customer.
And you know, especially this time of the year, it's
it's it's about taking care of customers and taking care

(36:26):
of people. Unfortunately, we live kind of in a society
where that doesn't always happen, right, But I'm kind of
getting choked up because I.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
Mean, you just.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
In the bottom of my heart, it's always about making
an honest living and you.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Know, just taking care of people. And I genuinely want
to do that.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
And I don't want anybody think, especially if I'm on
this radio station and somebody brings their car to me,
that my motive here is to drive you to to
Donovan Tire and to get more business. That my motive
is to an our motive and our job as mechanics
and at Donovan Tyre is to make sure that you

(37:11):
can get back out of the road and then we
fix your car correctly.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
And sometimes it takes I sometimes it might take.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
Two or three trips before we get it right. But
I'm gonna at the end of the day, I'm gonna
make it right. At Donovan's We're gonna make it right.
And I you know, for that gentleman, you know, I said, hey, listen,
you know, let's see what we can do.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
And and we fixed it and and that's that's That's
all I.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Can ask for, is that somebody appreciates the hard work
and what we do at Donovan Tire right, and what
we why we're here every Saturday at this at the
station to make sure that we could try to get
your car fixed, and not always necessarily because you know,
at iHeart, you know, everybody can you can hear me
from anywhere in the world, right as long as you

(37:58):
have an Internet connection, you can hear me. And it's
it's purely to make sure that we could try to
help you out and fix your car and make it right.
And if you're locally and you and you listen and
I and you want to bring your car to me,
I want to make sure that I take care of you.
But if you're not, if you're calling from Florida or
you know, we get a lot of calls from Florida,

(38:19):
New York. And if I can help you and guide you,
that's why I'm here. And so I can't. I can't
appreciate the phone call enough. It was really do appreciate
it so and that's that's why I do what I do.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
So, uh, thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
So all right, coming up, We've got We've got Tim,
Tom and Rick. You're listening to the car showing fifty
five krs the talk station.

Speaker 8 (38:42):

that needs body repair? If so, call my buddy Dave

(39:02):
Repair prides themselves in doing the job right and get
in your vehicle back on the road. Call five one, three,
eight two, nine ninety thirty eight to nine ninety thirty.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
Welcome back taking your car questions. I really do appreciate
everybody calling.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
Man, I wish I could get to everybody. I think
I'm gonna be honest with you. Uh, I will try
to get to everybody. We've got Tim, Tom, and Rick.
Let's go back to the phones. We've got Tim. Welcome
to the car show. How can I help?

Speaker 3 (39:31):
I have a nineteen ninety five Chevrolet thirty five hundred
HD with the seven point four and I'm thinking about
replacing the throttle body fuel injectors. Would it be better
to get the Delco injectors or like I said of
echellons from NAPA.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Sorry I'm coughing, uh No, Delco one hundred percent Delco? Yeah,
you know. Are you going to do the work yourself?

Speaker 3 (40:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (40:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (40:04):
And I tell people every time, if you're doing the
work yourself, you're already saving a tremendous amount of money, right,
So spend the money and get the quality, especially an injector.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
If it was like break pads or an air filter.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
No, you don't need an AC delco. You're you're talking
about a fuel injector get the AC delco. Get the
original equipment. Yes, it's gonna cost you a little bit more,
but you're doing it yourself. You're already saving money on
the labor and the diagnostic and everything else.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
So buy the Delco.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
Okay. You think I should put the fuel pressure spring
in at the same.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Time, Yes, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
It runs okay, but the gas knowledge isn't very good.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
Well you think about is it? I'm sorry you may
have said this, is it a diesel or it's not
a yeah?

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Okay, okay, yeah, yeah, it's not.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
Gonna be very few efficient. But I was trying to
get a little bit more than six miles a gallon.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
Yeah, yeah, no, I how many miles are on it?

Speaker 3 (41:17):
Like one hundred and seventy?

Speaker 1 (41:19):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (41:20):
I mean, have you recently done a tune up as
far as you know, spark plugs and.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
Yeah, I got plug caps, wires, new fuel pomp and
I put the map sensor and a new UH temperature
sensor for the engine.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
All right.

Speaker 4 (41:40):
Now, dude, No, I mean, if you've done all that
then you have ac DUCA fuel injectors. I mean, you know,
you could run into the issue where you know, you
could have a break calip or something that's hanging up
or low tire pressure that can cause you know, bad
fuel economy as well.

Speaker 1 (41:56):
I mean, don't rule that out.

Speaker 5 (41:58):
Well.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
I already put all new break calipers on at when
I bought the truck, because okay, it's an old county
truck and it was you know, like one of those
female drivers where the disc wasn't turning anymore because it
wore through to the fins and broke the tree from
the hub.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
Yeah, good lord.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
Yeah, okay, yeah, do the Delco and if you've done
everything else, then I would do Delco hands down.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
Okay, that's what my major question was.

Speaker 4 (42:29):
All right, Tim, thank you man, I appreciate the question.
Have a happy holiday. All right, Let's go to the
phones real quick. We've got Tom. Hey Tom, welcome to
the car show.

Speaker 1 (42:36):
How can I help Hey, Tom Mark Christmas family.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Absolutely, I don't want to be rude. I don't want
to cut you off.

Speaker 4 (42:44):
I just we're going to run out of time here
in about two minutes, so I'd love to help you out.

Speaker 11 (42:50):
Yeah, I can get right to it. This is a
simple one. Probably. I have a ninety one Martha r
X seven. Of course, it's a rotary convertible, and I
haven't driven it. It's been sitting in the garage for
about three years, hands about, you know, forty forty five
thousand miles on it, and I'm ready to pull it
out of the garage and you know, drive it around

(43:11):
a little bit, and I'm wondering what I need to
do to not damage it when I started back up.

Speaker 4 (43:19):
Well, that's a great question. I mean, I to be
honest with you, has the gas been in there? So
the gas hasn't been changed in three years?

Speaker 11 (43:29):
That's correct, Okay.

Speaker 4 (43:30):
I mean I personally, I wouldn't try to start it.
I think you might cause yourself some headache. What I
would recommend is it getting towed to a repair shop,
draining the gas, and then with the rotary engine. I mean,
there's a certain way that those things have to be.
Typically what we would do, because when Maser brought that

(43:50):
rotary engine back, they would have all kinds of starting
issues and you literally would have to take the spark
plugs out, fill the engine with transmission fluid to try
to get that thing on.

Speaker 1 (44:01):
I personally wouldn't try to start it.

Speaker 4 (44:03):
I would get it to a recommend or, you know,
a reputable car shop and get the gas out of
there and try to do new spark plugs and then
probably fill those cylinder holes with I'd get it to
a reputable shop. I wouldn't try to start it. I
think you might give yourself a little bit of a
might create more of a headache and cost you more money.

Speaker 11 (44:26):
Yeah, I don't want to heart it after I screwed up.
Which one of your locations is closest to Northern Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (44:35):
Yeah, it would be my Auto Foreign of Northern Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (44:40):
Might the shop that I'm at every every day is
it's Donovan's Auto Foreign.

Speaker 1 (44:46):
We would be able to handle that for you.

Speaker 4 (44:48):
Uh yeah, that's the new one. We're about ten miles
out of downtown, so.

Speaker 11 (44:53):
Super super all right, we'll see well, I'll see you there.

Speaker 4 (44:57):
Yeah, call me up on Monday. I'll be there Monday.
Call me up and I'll schedule you. All right, Thanks Tom,
take care, Rick. Listen, Rick, I apologize, I'm sure you're listening.
I'm sorry we're out of time. I really do appreciate it.
Please call me.

Speaker 1 (45:10):
You can call me this week if you'd like, or
call me next week.

Speaker 4 (45:14):
Thank you everybody for the car questions today. Everybody, have
a happy and safe Christmas. I'll be back next Saturday
to answer all your car questions. You're listening to the

Kingdom of Fraud

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
