Speaker 1 (00:00):
Morning, it's Quinny Cantera, PIX 106.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Hey, what's happening?

Speaker 1 (00:03):
It's Joel from TSO.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
How are you, man?

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Hello, darling. Joel, tickets on sale today for TSO. You're
coming to our area, Albany, December 17th with an all-new show.
Tell us about it.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, I mean, so it's going to be The Ghost
of Christmas Eve, which is the story on the front half.
Those that haven't seen TSO, there's a story on the
front half accompanied by music, a rock opera, if you will.
And the second half of the show is a little
bit more just like, you know, your standard concert format,
except it's anything but your standard concert because we've got
such an incredible production, incredible show to look at. We've

(00:34):
got a video wall, the width of the arena, amazing
pyro show, incredible laser light show. moving hydraulic lifts that
the performers play on, not only in the front of
the arena, but in the back, take us out over
the crowd, et cetera. Um, at times we go down
off the stage, play directly right in front of you,
hand guitar picks to the kids and whatnot. And, uh,

(00:55):
it snows indoors. That's always my big, that's awesome.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Uh, if you're a guest in my house now for
going on like at least eight, nine years, uh, or so, Yeah,
and you're going to the bathroom. It's the last Christmas
Eve platinum record sitting right there. I saw it this morning,
as a matter of fact. It's been there forever. I'm
very proud to have that from Paul. Paul sent that
to us.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Joe, you seem modest. I bet you don't display your
platinum records.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I actually don't have them. But I haven't tucked away
with a lot of career memorabilia and whatnot. But yeah,
that's very Paul. He was very.
I get grateful to everybody like yourselves who just got
behind the band and helped get it out to, you know,
get the word out. And you guys are, here you
are again doing it. You know, you're helping us get

(01:45):
the word out that tickets are on sale. There is
something that I want to make sure everybody understands. We're
really doing our best. Everybody's complaining about how much it
is to go to a concert nowadays. And we're really
doing our best to have everything. We got five different
ticket prices that are under $ 100. We understand this is
a family show. So everybody, please make sure when you
get your tickets that you're going to trans-siberian.com or you're

(02:08):
going to tsotickets.com. Either one of those. It's under $ 100.
You'll find tickets available under $ 100, as low as $ 59, okay? Now,
if you're going, oh, what a liar. Those tickets are $ 275.
You're on a resale site. You don't belong there.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Got it.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
So make sure you're going to the right place, okay?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
So TSO.com, and was it trans-siberia.com?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Trans-siberia.com or tsotickets.com.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Just quickly, in my head, I'm doing the math, which
is a bad idea on this program, but how many
semi-trucks you got for this event? this one this year?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
You know, I don't know yet until I see the load,
but it's usually about like 19 semi-trucks a side, I
feel like.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
19?

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Any of them are autonomous?

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, any of them paying for that $ 6 plus diesel fuel,
it's going to be expensive this year, but they will
bring it and they will keep it at a reasonable
price for you.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
On top of that, every dollar sold goes to local charities.
To date, TSO has given more than $ 20 million. That's
the same with our show, MVP Arena, Albany, December 17th.
Tickets are on sale right now, so it's great.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Joel, any other music forays planned?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
As far as my, my life, my musical life.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Your share life, your rock and roll, other rock and
roll life, all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
You know, I just kind of have a smattering of stuff.
I'm doing some acoustic duo stuff, uh, leading up to it. Well,
your hoax for Gibbs, the show is called, and then
playing a little bit with Broadway's rock of ages band
leading into TSO. But throughout the year, I've been playing
with Steven Piercy from rat playing with his band and,
You know, you just never know. I turn up on

(03:50):
all kinds of recordings with all kinds of bands. I
just work with guitar every single day of my life.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
I feel like we've talked to you enough, Joel Hoekstra
from TSO, that I think I know you. How do
you feel about AI and music? Do you want to
be even close to each other?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
You know, I mean, I just look, I can't control it.
So I don't worry about it too much. I'm not
really using it yet in terms of any part of
the process. I just do what I do and try
not to worry about it. And, you know, eventually it's
going to kill us all.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I mean, there are artists over on iTunes and Spotify.
At least they're labeled. But I still am disgusted by
it personally, personally.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I mean, you know what? So far, I'm still waking
up every day. I have music business to take care
of every day and things are going fine. Now, when
the moment comes where I go, oh, I'm not getting
any work, everything's drying up. And, you know, that might
be the moment where you go, OK, this really, truly
has like wrecked the music industry fully.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Let's hope we never get there.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Quickly, are the large language models studying your musical talents specifically,
and are they ripping you off and then translating that
into some punk AI piece of crap?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
You got to be careful, bro.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Just saying.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
I mean, I definitely understand where you're coming from. I
feel like, but I am, I'm just a guitar player.
Like you take this as far as you can and
do what you can and work hard. And I mean,
I wake it up every day of my life, like
worrying about fighting, you know, the advances of AI feels

(05:28):
like something that's like, like, you know, fruitless for me.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
It does seem quite daunting. I've only been doing it
for a week and I'm tired.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
It's a lot to battle.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
I'm just a guitar player, but like I said, so
far so good and I hope that continues for as
long as possible.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Joel Hoekstra of TSO. He's so humble. He doesn't even
hang his platinum records. That's so awesome, man. That's the
way it ought to be. All right. We'll see you
when you come to Albany December 17th.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
You guys rule. You help us out every year. Thank
you so much. Really appreciate your support.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Albany loves TSO, man.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Thanks, Joel. It's Joel Hoekstra.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Quinn and Cantera.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Picks 106.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Quinn and Cantera.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
The show of significance.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Crack an egg on it.
