Into the Clutha region now, and on the banks of the Clutha river is the Tuapeka Punt. The punt is a water powered ferry that crosses the river, and the only one left in the southern hemisphere. There were 25 or so of them in their heyday, used to connect a remote gold mining camp to the other side of the river. Now, it's a quirky attraction.
