The South Island continues to struggle with worker shortages. 
Lincoln University researchers have found that by next year Canterbury will reach a peak in the work force population, if the borders remain closed. 
Researcher David Dyason told Tim Dower the labour force is shrinking, which will lead to even more gaps in the market.
