very excited to have our next guest in, Troy Bond,
who is going to be performing at the American Comedy
Company this weekend. A couple of shows tonight, a couple
of shows tomorrow night. One am already sold out though,

can leave if you want. I don't blame it, but yeah,

this is a very cool Troy. Thor is a massive
fan of yours. He's been talking about you for a while.

Does it hits differently, right? It hits differently? Yeah, So
Thor's going to your show no matter what. He's been
telling me about you for a while. And I feel
like it's weird that you and I don't know each
other already, that we're not already best friends. Because here
are the three things that I love the most in life.
Okay A number one. As you can see, I'm immediately

I'm a massive Star Wars fan. I'm as big of
a nerd as he gets, dude, So I'm I'm a
massive Star Wars guy. I'm a massive Marvel guy. And
I grew up a Hue and still am a wrestling fan.
Oh so, Troy, I'm like, dude, let's let's bond right now, Eddie.

Did you see his I read your bracelet on your
right hand? He says, does it say sith Lord? Oh yeah,
somebody gave me this last night. Someone gave me this.

Uh this the other bracelet that has like a quote
from Moonnight that says chaos.

And first like people hand me that. I'm like, oh,
that's really nice.

And I'm like, why can't I get a quote that
says like I'm Moonnight. I have to get like those chaos.
And there's a character that reminds me of you, the
schizophrenic dude who kills people sometimes. That feels great. Appreciate that.
Those are the three things I grew up on, Star Wars, Marvel,
comic books, yeahs wrestling. My dad was a when I
was a kid, my dad was a DJ. He was

an amateur pro wrestler. He going to karate school. Uh
and and he left comic books so he made no
money and and they gave me the autism test there.

They're like, maybe you grow in this year. My principal
was r f K too much tail.

And so like I just I comedy to me when
I was a kid, my dad, because he was a DJ,
he never listened to music and the car. He always
listened to talk radio and so like I would be
going to school, like repeating back talk radio points about
like the Iraq War, like seven years old. But like

I also would memorize this is like back when people
would listen to full comedy albums, like at the height
of like comedy special student, like you'd have HBO Special
someone like there's a special coming out every day, Like
when people would have an album and then they would
listen to.

It over and over the years.

My dad would listen to Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor
and George Carlin and Jerry Seinfeld and Lucia Ball, and
I'd like be four or five years old understanding that
they were great.

But also the big thing that I learned was like.

How to make what was going on in my head
and now against to everyone else. It was through comedy.
Like the nerd stuff. Now maybe I don't know if
you feel this way. I feel this way now now
out the nerd stuff is like in the Zeitgeist, you
can just drop like Thanos and.

Everyone knows knows what that is. Yeah.

I mean I tell these guys all the time. It's
weird the shift of like I kind of hid this
stuff when I was growing up. You know, I was,
I was embarrassed, but dude, I played D and D
growing up. I mean I was that kind of getting nerd.
But then I lived the double double life, you know,
where I still played sports and things like that. So
those friends had no idea that I read comic books
every day. But now it's like the cool thing, and

I'm like, what happened? Yeah, Like I have no shame. Man,
I'm wearing a canteena band.

artist Michael Jackson. I was keeping all these years, Like
even I went to go see the new Star Wars
movie last week and I was in.

I was in theaters in the first like ten minutes.

I was like, I was with somebody and I kept
groaning and they were like stop and I was like what,
and They're like, you keep every like three minutes.

I'm like, oh, I didn't realize I was doing.

It because I'm like, I'm thirty now I've been The
first movie I ever saw in theaters was Phantom menas
Crazy three.

I didn't know anything about trade negotiations or racist stereotypes.

And the Star Wars y, but it works. I kept
watching it and after after my friend was like, you
keep growing. I was like, all right, let me just
me enjoy this for what it is. And I saw.

Sigourney Weaver and a X swing and then I want
to put Grogu in a blender.

Oh wait, why I just hate him? Why I never

Serial Oh god, what happened that little thing was coming
at me at three o'clock in the morning.

my loves. I have some strong feelings about the prequels. Okay,
now you grew up probably with the prequels first. So
I have seen this kind of generation that loves the

So Star Wars to me is like uh, trying to
find the right way to say this on the radio,

Even that one is still clear, like unless with Skywalker,
Eddie likes everything and everybody hates Like Eddie liked the

it was weird.

I want to crash this plane. And so I saw it.
I loved it, and I was like, this is really cool.

I'm really and I was even okay with like it
being a copy of a New Hope.

It was like it happened.

Then Rogue One comes out and I'm like, oh, they
just one of my incredible and then Last Jedi came
out and that was the first movie in my adult life.
I walked out of theaters and I thought that like
every one was gonna follow me, like.

Right when she threw When Luke threw his lightsaper away,
I was like, all right, gang, come on leaving.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Marched up right at the top, right at the beginning,
because the first ten minutes was like all joking and
I was like, I don't know where this is going.

This is rough. And then when he threw the lightsaber,
I was hurt.

No I walked out of the theater, and then I
went to go see it the next day and and
ended up that that was my favorite out of the
out of the sequels is the last Jedi, the last Jedi. Okay,
just awakens went nowhere, the last Jedi.

The Yota scene alone makes it worth it for me.
He did enjoy that.

The Rise of Skywalker was the only Star Wars movie
I saw in theater once, and then my brother tried
to kill himself a couple of days later.

I don't think, Okay, that's fair. I'm going to play
it on that.

Not him getting caught cheating on his girlfriend Skywalker, that's fair, because.

What's crazy is that when the prequels came out again, I'm,
you know, an adult at this point in the nineties,
and I was so excited that even any Star Wars
is going to be made.

So I went there.

I took the day off work because I was like,
I gotta go see this right away, and I it.

Didn't that's how we do it, and it didn't kete
the same. I walked out and I went is this me? Like?
Do I not love this anymore? It's weird? It felt weird.
That's how I felt. When I watched the Last Jedi.

I was like, oh, it was like that episode of
South Park where where like Kyle realized he was getting
older and everything just.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Sounded and changed. What happened to me?
Speaker 3 (08:27):
And I got called my dad and I was like, Dad,
don't go see this movie. It's terrible. And he was like,
you're twenty six now, and I was like, no, but
you're a grown up. Like people use these movies as
life is very hard. It's very difficult for people just
to get any it was. It was hard for all
of us just to get up and put socks and

shoes on this morning. Yeah, man, to get here. It
wasn't for me because I'm on New York Times. It's
nine o'clock. In my brain, it was up at six
like beat this, like yeah, but like whenever when I
went to go see the Mandolin and Grogan movie, like
at the end of the day, I'm putting my socks
and shoes on, I'm getting to go see a Star
Wars movie. And then I was gonna buy a popcorn
bucket and they were like sixty dollars. I was like,

I'll come back to this the movie with a gun.

That's not happen. I didn't even do that.

No spending on the dune bucket. That's a multi purpose bucket.
Else I don't want just like what am I going

because I had no idea that your dad wrestled and
all this stuff. So you grew up kind of in

I was going to those SHOs.

I didn't realize like how unconventional my dad was. Like

and he was wrestling. I heard the d c F
like oh, and then like like when he was karate
and wrestling was like it was almost like the same,
but like wrestling was a little bit more theatrical, so

like we would I remember, Yeah, like my dad's outfit
for wrestling was like just.

His karate pants and then baby oil.

Remember one like my one of my earliest memories was
he was like doing his wrestling name was the Black
Dragon Troy Bond, and uh, he was like shooting some
promos and one of the promos is like he was
like going to shoot a fireball out of his okay
because he was the Dragon. Yeah, like yeah yeah, and
he's like, oh, here we go. And the karate mats

were like those rubber like that. We were in the
studio and like he like had like taken just a
big shot of vodka and then spit it out while
somebody like had a Zippo lighter just went everywhere.

He didn't tell me to get out of the way.
I'm like next to my dad like grocer.

I'm like I did a kick and then like my
leg was just on fire and I'm like he like
just picks me up by He was like, don't tell
your mother about this, and he dunks one leg of
mine in the toilet. In the toilet and like half
of my leg is still burnt up. My pant leg
was burnt up. It just singed right through the pants
and then they just like mysterical, don't tell your mother

moments like it's gonna be really hard to explain this.
One time, somebody like broke a crutch over his back
and I just saw it flying at me and.

I was like, this is really cool.

I'm gonna hit me right square in the head and
I just had this giant egg on my head.

He was like, tell your mother you fell down the steps.
I'm like, that's the fourth time this month.

She's gonna put me in a class. You guys responsibility
for this. Imbe the joke like we have the same
last name too, and we have the same last name.

Yeah, the whole name. I got the whole name and
we didn't talk for like.

He kicked me out of the house when I was
seventeen because I started doing comedy and he didn't. He
still he wanted to do comedy too when he was
but he didn't pull out. And then he had me.
He was just like, I don't want you going down this.
It was like the day up a cave. He was like,

then I exactly, I know it was exactly stretch and

he didn't He like had me up against the wall.
He was like, if you audition for America's Got Talent.
You're never coming back to this house. And I was like,
all right, I guess coming back to this house. That's
a serious speak for five years.

It was a real Chris full heel on you. And
I was going to the karate school classes too, Like
so I knew.

Karate, he just knew more. But so we didn't speak
for for many years. Turn day I came home and
he like handed me. Uh like when when dads discover weed,
they think that the the first person on the planet
to everything. Okay, you gotta try this. It's going to
change everything for you. I'm like, do you remember you
kicked me out of the house once when I was fourteen? Yeah,

And then like we were it was like the Native
American peace pipe.

We were just passing it back and forth.

And then he left the house and I was sure
he hit me, and I was like in a coma.

lights on at the karate school.

I guess it's called trauma dumping, but I just thought
like it was a cool story life. Yeah, it's just
the way it came.

didn't know it was right there. I was just like, oh,

went to go see it the next day and and
ended up that that was my favorite out of the
out of the sequels is the last Jedi, the last Jedi. Okay,
just awakens went nowhere, the last Jedi.

The Yota scene alone makes it worth it for me.
He did enjoy that.

The Rise of Skywalker was the only Star Wars movie
I saw in theater once, and then my brother tried
to kill himself a couple of days later.

I don't think, Okay, that's fair. I'm going to play
it on that.

Not him getting caught cheating on his girlfriend Skywalker, that's fair, because.

What's crazy is that when the prequels came out again, I'm,
you know, an adult at this point in the nineties,
and I was so excited that even any Star Wars
is going to be made.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
So I went there.

I took the day off work because I was like,
I gotta go see this right away, and I it.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Didn't that's how we do it, and it didn't kete
the same. I walked out and I went is this me? Like?
Do I not love this anymore? It's weird? It felt weird.
That's how I felt. When I watched the Last Jedi.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
I was like, oh, it was like that episode of
South Park where where like Kyle realized he was getting
older and everything just.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Sounded and changed. What happened to me?
Speaker 3 (08:27):
And I got called my dad and I was like, Dad,
don't go see this movie. It's terrible. And he was like,
you're twenty six now, and I was like, no, but
you're a grown up. Like people use these movies as
life is very hard. It's very difficult for people just
to get any it was. It was hard for all
of us just to get up and put socks and

shoes on this morning. Yeah, man, to get here. It
wasn't for me because I'm on New York Times. It's
nine o'clock. In my brain, it was up at six
like beat this, like yeah, but like whenever when I
went to go see the Mandolin and Grogan movie, like
at the end of the day, I'm putting my socks
and shoes on, I'm getting to go see a Star
Wars movie. And then I was gonna buy a popcorn
bucket and they were like sixty dollars. I was like,

I'll come back to this the movie with a gun.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
That's not happen. I didn't even do that.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
No spending on the dune bucket. That's a multi purpose bucket.
Else I don't want just like what am I going
to do with it?

Yeah, I kind of shoot it.

Yeah, you can come on Toy Bond playing the American
Comedy Company this weekend.

Now, got to get into some wrestling talk here, because
because I had no idea that your dad wrestled and
all this stuff. So you grew up kind of in
that era where you yeah, right.

Steroids and cocaine.

That's a SOLDI called that the Golden hair time, the
golden it was.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I was going to those SHOs.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
I didn't realize like how unconventional my dad was. Like
because I told you, like even I got reaction for you.
I was like, he was a DJ, he was karate school,
and he was wrestling. I heard the d c F
like oh, and then like like when he was karate
and wrestling was like it was almost like the same,
but like wrestling was a little bit more theatrical, so

like we would I remember, Yeah, like my dad's outfit
for wrestling was like just.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
His karate pants and then baby oil.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Remember one like my one of my earliest memories was
he was like doing his wrestling name was the Black
Dragon Troy Bond, and uh, he was like shooting some
promos and one of the promos is like he was
like going to shoot a fireball out of his okay
because he was the Dragon. Yeah, like yeah yeah, and
he's like, oh, here we go. And the karate mats
(10:44):
were like those rubber like that. We were in the
studio and like he like had like taken just a
big shot of vodka and then spit it out while
somebody like had a Zippo lighter just went everywhere.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
He didn't tell me to get out of the way.
I'm like next to my dad like grocer.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
I'm like I did a kick and then like my
leg was just on fire and I'm like he like
just picks me up by He was like, don't tell
your mother about this, and he dunks one leg of
mine in the toilet. In the toilet and like half
of my leg is still burnt up. My pant leg
was burnt up. It just singed right through the pants
and then they just like mysterical, don't tell your mother

moments like it's gonna be really hard to explain this.
One time, somebody like broke a crutch over his back
and I just saw it flying at me and.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
I was like, this is really cool.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
I'm gonna hit me right square in the head and
I just had this giant egg on my head.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
He was like, tell your mother you fell down the steps.
I'm like, that's the fourth time this month.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
She's gonna put me in a class. You guys responsibility
for this. Imbe the joke like we have the same
last name too, and we have the same last name.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, the whole name. I got the whole name and
we didn't talk for like.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
He kicked me out of the house when I was
seventeen because I started doing comedy and he didn't. He
still he wanted to do comedy too when he was
but he didn't pull out. And then he had me.
He was just like, I don't want you going down this.
It was like the day up a cave. He was like,
I don't want you to be what I am. And
then I exactly, I know it was exactly stretch and

he didn't He like had me up against the wall.
He was like, if you audition for America's Got Talent.
You're never coming back to this house. And I was like,
all right, I guess coming back to this house. That's
a serious speak for five years.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Still doing.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
The stacker too, your blood.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
It was a real Chris full heel on you. And
I was going to the karate school classes too, Like
so I knew.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Karate, he just knew more. But so we didn't speak
for for many years. Turn day I came home and
he like handed me. Uh like when when dads discover weed,
they think that the the first person on the planet
to everything. Okay, you gotta try this. It's going to
change everything for you. I'm like, do you remember you
kicked me out of the house once when I was fourteen? Yeah,
(13:09):
And then like we were it was like the Native
American peace pipe.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
We were just passing it back and forth.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
And then he left the house and I was sure
he hit me, and I was like in a coma.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
And then he called me.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Later that night and he was like, hey, I might
I might need your social scared number to keep the
lights on at the karate school.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Is this when we're friends? Now?
Speaker 5 (13:28):
This is wild man? Yeah, So that's that's my dad,
okay day, Yeah, good man, I am working on one. Yeah,
that's fantastic.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Because you're like, you'll tell these stories and then be
out a party and then like people start crying.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I guess it's called trauma dumping, but I just thought
like it was a cool story life. Yeah, it's just
the way it came.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
When I saw the Trotters when I was ten, I
didn't know it was right there. I was just like, oh,
this is McDonald's.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
The hell I don't know, this is this is what
gonna see if you gotta go take out Troy America
Comedy Company, a couple of shows tonight, a couple of
shows tomorrow night. It's gonna be great. You'll go hang
out with or two. I guess he's gonna be hanging out. Yeah, dude, Hey, Troy,
pleasure and finally meet you. Anytime you're in town.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Man, you gotta come in, dude, I'll come chop it
up man, good stuff, dude. I think I go to
Smoothie with dude. Listen, apparently hate grohu so I don't
even know. I'm going to.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Burger King after this, and I'm gonna get the milkshack.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
It's made of him. Dude, come on, that's terrible. Maybe
burger King is your go to hangover food. Do you
ever go to hangover food? Oh, you know, to hangover food.

I love the floor matt texture of a subway sandwich floor.
Those were like five dollars and now it's like thirty
two dollars.
