Speaker 1 (00:00):
So Doors, uh getting ready for the Freedom two fifty
white house card there Con McGregor or something, I don't know.
Whatever happens, they're going to.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Keep the structure up because it's nice as the Eiffel
Tower is pretty sweet.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
It is pretty.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Sweet as nice as the Eiffel Tower.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
No joke. Door is training. Wow, he decided on a
whim to you know, go to a gym and try
it out.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Oh sorry, go ahead?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Oh no, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
I've been working out with weights for since I was
in like eighth grade, and I just on and off
and I just got so bored and and and I
still do. I still because because muy Thai is just
more cardio and and and learning self defense. And then
when I had my son was born, I just wanted
to learn to defend myself, defend the family.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Sick.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Walking weapon.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
And I want my son.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
I want my son to go into this as soon
as he's old enough. I think, I think, I think
in schools they should teach self defense classes to everyone.
So I'm making him do it. He doesn't have a choice.
This is going to be like going to school. He
has no choice. He has to do it.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
You do you have to do muay Thai or is
it jiu jitsu or anything else.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
I am enjoyed Muti, but he if he wants to
do jiu jitsu, he could do karate.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
He could do karate whatever he wants.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
But he for as long as he's in school, he
has to do this because I think it's going to
teach him like confidence. I think it's gonna it's good
for his mental health. It's going to learn to defend himself,
you know people, because kids are going to try to
you know, kids are kids and somebody says something to
him or pushes him or touches him, or he's in
a situation I want. I wanted to be able to
defend himself. So I wish I would have done it
(01:40):
at a young age and stuck with it, because I
did do when when the.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Three Ninjas movie came out back in the day, I
did do karate.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
That's right. I just finish.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
I just wish I would have stuck with it. It's
for the movie. Heves.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
There's a girl and Rocky is one of the boys.
You know that class because my name is Emily and
everybody used to say rookie. When I was in schools,
so I.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Don't think it was a class. It was it was okay.
So those things.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
And also then I started thinking, well, if my son
does this and I'm not doing it, I don't beat
me up.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
So that's what you.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Think I put on Instagram. So I put on Instagram.
Does anybody know places and p ones are awesome?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I had a million people hit me up because San
Diego is a big mixed martial arts area. As Eddie knows,
we used to have fighters in all the time. And
then one of my friends hit me up about Steel
m m A, which is down the street from us,
and their classes are at noon, which is perfect for
us because I'm up a lot of classes.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
In the morning and in the evening hard to do.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
So I go to Steel May right down the street
from us, and they're awesome. So I've been doing moy
tie with them and it's been great and I'm very
like a deer learning to walk.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Social video.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Yeah, they put out a social video because he wants
it to be like beginning him before and then you'll
do the after when when he's knocking fools out.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
With head kicks.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I'm not not gonna I don't want to fight, but
if I have to, I will.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Well, I don't.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
I don't like for a long time. I don't like
being punched or kicked. But like I but I.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Don't think anyone does know any Some people do this. Guy,
you don't know you're in a punch in the face, man,
what's up?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
So I so I uh so.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I started with them with with coach Carl down there,
and he's awesome. And the first few times I went,
it's very humbling because I don't know what it is
about fighting. Everyone thinks that they know how to fight,
and I don't. I'm not good at fighting, but I
feel like I'm gonna go there. I'm gonna know how
to punch, and I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Is technique to your actual fighting of you know how
to throw a correct punch, Like you can throw a
punch great and knock somebody out, But is it the
if you're in an actual fight. Yeah, you know with
professionals they'll kill you. Well, y, you actually know how
to dodge and throw a punch and defend. Yeah, I
think that is the mode.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
And when I get there, So I do Tuesdays and
Thursdays and Fridays and then I go to my regular gym.
The other days gim I waits in, so I gotta
get the waits in stuff. So when I go there,
there's they have like a mixed martial arts class going
on from eleven to twelve with like legit fighters, and
you just watch some of these people and they are
no joke, and it's it's the most humbling thing. And
(04:30):
I've never felt like I played sports. I played baseball, basketball,
football when I didn't know what I was doing, I
still felt like I'm athletic enough to figure it out.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
With fighting.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
If I don't know what I'm doing and I throw
a kick, I feel like the biggest wossy one, Like
I throw a kick and I don't know what I'm doing,
and they're like, all right, I do three minutes of
shadow boxing and I'm just looking around. I'm like kind
of knowing. So I'm just learning, though, And they're really
good at the gym of teaching you and making sure
that you feel comfortable, which is cool because a lot
of gyms I've heard aren't like that.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
They don't care.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
So one of the things we do is we do
it in the beginner's class. Because I'm in the beginners group,
and there's also a intermediate group, the immedia group. That's
my goal one day. I want to be in the
intermediate group one day. I don't know if I ever
get there because it seems insane, but I want to
get there. I'm in the beginners group.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Now.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
There's some people in the beginners group who I think
should be in the intermediate group, but they haven't made
the jump yet.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
For some reason. So it was a couple of days ago.
Do you get like belts that I don't like, ranks
like a black belt, or you get stripes.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
I don't think so. No, I don't think so. I
haven't seen that. You do know who's better? There's some
people there.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Man, well, I would never never want to fight.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Go to Thailand. You'll see what's up. Okay.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
A lot of the coaches that Steve may have gone
to Thailand and done that training.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
It's no joe. They wake up at like six.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Am, run a five k, train for three hours, eat lunch,
run another five k, and then train for three hours.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
It's cristy, and get hit with kendo sticks for an
hour and in their shoot it's crazy to do. I'll
just take a nap. Hitting the shins. That's the worst.
He never hit me in the with a stick.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
There's this guy there before Hey, and he kicks. He
like I don't. He kicks. He'll show you how to kick.
And his shins feel like tree trunks.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, because that's what he does all days, kick trunks.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
He kicks trees, and he'll like it's like he's focusing
on me, like but very lightly, and I'm just.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Like, oh, he's like half in a real fight. If
you get kicked, they say, it's like taking a baseball
bat and just swinging it at your leg and then
and then try to continue.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
I hit a coffee table with down, It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
I love it so so the first couple of times
I went, it was just kind of finding my bearings
and like the first couple of times I got punched
in the face, it was like whoa, Like this is crazy,
and it was very light. So I was there a
few days ago and they do a boxing course as well,
which is just similar, but muay Thai is all as
your as your hands, elbows, knees, and feet. Boxing obviously
just hands, so it's doing the boxing and there's really
(07:08):
no beginner class with boxing it's just everyone doing stuff, right.
So we're doing the boxing class and there's a couple
of new people like me, and we're kind of just
learning the combos because the combos are like a jab
is one across as two and that's how kind of
how you're counting.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
And I'm learning, and.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
It's very mentally exhausting because you're all over the place.
So we're switching partners around and I'm learning, and there's
a couple of people that take light spar light sparring,
but there's a couple of people that go like mild sparring.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Oh all right, And.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Part of it, part of me likes it because it
teaches me keep my hands up because for some reason,
I don't know if it's a natural thing. I always
drop after I punch. I always don't bring my hand
out to my face. You get knocked out right, So
you want to keep your hands up. So I start
sparring and with people. And there's a couple of people
that are like I said, light, and there's a couple
people that are going ahead, Well, I go to this,
(08:01):
they go switch and I switch to a.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Partner and this is girl she's like's not it's not
like separated girls just anybody else, because there's some there's
most women there can beat the crap out of me.
I mean most women there, Yeah, most trained fighters.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Yeah, it's crazy. So there's this girl.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
She's she's like half my size, I want to say,
she's probably five four, and.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
But she's she knows, she knows what she's doing. She
knows what she's doing.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
And I got the reach advantage. I got the reach.
So she's like really close to me, like somebody. Spacing
is a part of fighting. Eddie knows more about this
than I do. And I'm learning my spacing. I don't know,
because if you get too close, you don't punch right.
And it's the whole thing I'm learning. So she's really
close to me, and we're supposed to be light sparring,
(08:48):
but this she knows what she's doing, and she starts
to we start to do the combos, and she starts
really whacking in the face.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Like really hard.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Oh my god, and like it's probably a medium spar
It supposed to be light sparring is like medium is
like you're really like and she's like whacking me in
the face and it's hitting me and it's a girl.
And it's a girl, and she's really close to me
because she doesn't because she wants to hit me, because
and I have the reath, and I kind of haven't
(09:17):
done you're supposed to when you're when you're shadow boxing
or spar're supposed to be moving around.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
I'm kind of just standing in one place.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Head bro got him with your head, You got with
your body, And I'm just getting hit in the face
over and over again.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yeah, and then I'm coming back to her, and so
I feel I don't want to hit.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Her, but also like got to give her a receipt. Ye,
that's what you're there for. Yeah, but light sparring is
light spark and I.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Think you probably just have an instinct as a man
like punch a girl.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, you don't punch a girl in the face. And
she's half my size. Yeah, So I'm like waiting and
then like she hits me again.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Then I'm kind of getting annoyed. I'm annoyed to myself
because I got to keep my hands up. And then
I'm annoy that like like looking around, like somebody say
something that really hard. We're light sparring here, So she
hits me again, and then it's my turn, and I go,
I'm going for it.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
She and I kind of I get lucky.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
It's like when you play cards for the first time
and you get a good hand and you kind of win.
That's kind of what happens. And I go with the
jeb and I jebb her right in the face, right
in the face.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
And then but then I.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Harder, kind of hard, Okay, I.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Make contact and kind of hit her and she and
I could tell that she was fine with it, but
I also felt like, should I not have done that?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
She's a girl, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Apologize, I kind I always apologize whenever I don't know
what I'm doing. I always say I'm sorry, I don't
know what I'm doing.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
I'm sorry. I don't know if that annoys people.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
I'm sorry, I'm new to this.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I'm sorry. I also try to have conversations mid sparring.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Dude, sparring.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
I'm like, so, how long have you been doing this?
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Your ass? Shut this guy up?
Speaker 2 (11:02):
I am, yeah, And then she kind of looked at
me and starts hitting me kind of harder on what's like, listen,
she can beat me up. And then also I'm like,
she's also going too hard. Should I tell some money
to tell her?
Speaker 1 (11:17):
You don't need it, you don't need to tell it. Okay,
that's a whisky boy move. That's a whisky boy move. Okay,
she's really hitting me. Okay.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
So my whole thing is, there's a couple people. Her
is one of them.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
When I get better, we're gonna actually spark and I'm
ready for it.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
And another guy there that went too hard, get ready
for it.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Give me a year. She made the list. She made
the list. Give me a year. Eric, Alright, you're ridiculous.
