permit thing didn't go as well as we had hoped for.
She failed her first permit test, which that was a disaster.
Like it was like you basically told her one of

for a while. But to her credit, I mean she is.

This last school year was insane. I mean she's taken
all of these honors and ap courses, and so the
amount of homework this kid has is stupid. It was stupid.
I kept telling her, I go, why are you doing
this to yourself? Like I don't even get it. The
amount of homework. It was literally she would wake up,
go to school, get home, do homework until midnight, go

to sleep, wake up, do homer, go to school, like
no life. And so the time to like practice driving
wasn't there, and so it's really amped up since summer.
And so she's really been practicing really, you know, she'd
drive here and there, but just not that much. But
now that summer's here, we've been driving almost every day. Now.

I don't know about you, because talking about how like
kids are different now with it, like was there an urgency,
because with my daughter, there's no fucking urgency. She's gotten
her permit, and it's kind of like all drive here

in my family, especially when it comes to my daughter,
I do ninety nine point nine percent of whatever, you know,
doctor's appointments, arranging this, shuffling here, shuffling there. Either I
don't bathe, I don't she could put her own clothes on.

But I found out real quick there's a reason that
I drive everywhere and my husband is always sitting shotgun
because I'm too much of a fucking control you have
to be in controlled. I had, like like the the
feelings inside and the coming out of my skin. So
I finally and it's not like my daughter's like bad
at it or something like that, it's just I'm a

fucking control freak. So I finally said to my husband,
I need you to step up and take over this,
which I never say, but like I said, because I
just like can't do it. He's like, I don't understand
the words that you're saying.

No, he was actually like yeah, fine, which I thought
i'd get some like kind of pushback and attitude, you know,
because I never asked him to do anything. But no,
he's like, yeah, that's fine, and I'm like, oh, thank
god because the anxiety sitting in that seat, not being.

Able to grab the wheel. I like, I can't you
think that.

Her husband and daughter get in the car, they go
to turn it on, and he goes, Okay, this is
what we're gonna do. We're gonna I'm gonna teach you
how to get your mom to do things for you.
So she turns on the car and then he just
goes over, how you're getting her to drive?

while now. And then finally we had the day of
the test, which was yesterday, So the big driver's test
was going down and I got home yesterday and I
immediately knew, I don't know, man, I don't know how
well this is gonna go.

And Eddie had told me in sky that this was
the Yesterday was a big driver's test day, and I
gave him my one piece of advice. I said, hey,
when you because I remember this worked for me. You
have to over exaggerate everything you do. And same thing
with flying. When it's my flying test, you over exaggerate
things even talk through the process. Now flying's a little
different because you're talk about your checklist. But like, over

exaggerate everything. So I was saying when I when I
remember specifically when I power up parked. After I was
done power up parking, they wanted me to go do something,
so I like overexaggerated the look out to my love. Yeah,
I had the blinker on for like a solid thirty
seconds before.

Like, you over exaggerate everything.

Because it slows you down and it lets them know
that you're following all the rules. Doesn't have to be natural,
you have to you have to go through the checklist.

said before said I feel good to over exaggerate all
of your emotions and things like that.

I'm like, the fuck you are? I go, You're just
got your license. It doesn't mean you're just gonna take

if you want to drive still with one of us, sure,
obviously that's totally okay by yourself, maybe down the road
a little bit. But I'm like, it doesn't just mean
I'm gonna hit the fucking freeway.

about the over exaggeration and things, and I could just
tell like she's starting to be nervous and the pressure
might be getting to her. And and my last piece
of advice for her before she walked out the door

to go with my wife to the driver's test is Taylor,
be confident. Just be confident in yourself. You'll be fine.
Be confident behind the wheel, and just listen to his instructions.
Do what he says. You'll be fine. You've been driving
for a while now, you know what you're doing. Just relax.

That's so apparently this is you know again. According to Deborah,
who drove her there, she had to wait for her turn,
so she had the appointment time. The appointment time was
like two and there were people going in front of her,
and so she had to sit there for an extra

almost hour waiting for it. So the anxiety is built
and built and built and built, and so by the
time it was finally her turn, she was, you know,
spinning out. And so she gets behind the wheel. She
said that the guy seemed frazzled himself because the person

before her that went didn't have the right paperwork, like
an Emily situation. Emily fucked that up. Remember that. Apparently
there was another thing that happened with this guy, and
so there was a big well she saw it, and
so there was this big old thing that that was

going down. And finally he was like done with the
person that was supposed to go. He goes, all right, well,
I'll just take the next one, all right, Taylor, you're up,
And so she was like oh and then just boom,
it's her turn now. And so it caused kind of
like this big stir whatever, and so the guy wasn't happy.
He seemed irritated, and so it just wasn't going well.
So she gets behind the wheel and they go to

pull out of the DMV to go on this course. Well,
immediately Taylor fucks up. So apparently there are like five
called critical errors that you can do, and if you
do one of the five, it's over nothing else you

will fail five critical errors. I don't know what the
five are. I do know one of them, which is
Thor's piece of advice, which is you've got to look
both ways if you're pulling out of somewhere. And that's
an obvious one, you know. So the guy says, all right,
turned left here. So Taylor puts on her blinker, looks left,

and then goes, oh, no, never looked.

Luckily, car from the right was coming ship.

So obviously stupid mistake. But that's one of the five
critical errors. So it's over. So he tells her not
that you failed, but he tells her you didn't look right,
and she knows, you know that that's one of the

you just said turn left, and I just it got
in my head. I turned left. I had to think
about the blinker and the whole thing. And I go,
but Taylor, come on, like you got it. You gotta
be better.

different because you're talk about your checklist. But like, over

exaggerate everything. So I was saying when I when I
remember specifically when I power up parked. After I was
done power up parking, they wanted me to go do something,
so I like overexaggerated the look out to my love. Yeah,
I had the blinker on for like a solid thirty
seconds before.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Like, you over exaggerate everything.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Because it slows you down and it lets them know
that you're following all the rules. Doesn't have to be natural,
you have to you have to go through the checklist.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Big thing I gave her your advice. Oh wow, I
said before said I feel good to over exaggerate all
of your emotions and things like that.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
Did she take it in or did she like blow
it off?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
I think she heard me, okay, but now and you
know it was good. But I also know that my daughter,
you know, he isn't handle pressure well. At all. It's
it's like leading up to a big test. It is
anxiety central. Usually the test will go okay, but I mean,

if there's anything big coming up, her pressure, the pressure
in her, it's just awful.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Doesn't herself.
Speaker 6 (08:18):
Yes, it's not like you guys are putting it on.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
I don't care at all. I don't put any pressure
on her to do anything. And so, but she puts
all the pressure on herself. And she had a lot
of big plans, grand plans for when she gets her license.
Uh you know, Oh yeah, No, I'm gonna go go
to the beach. I'm gonna drive here. I'm gonna drive here.
I'm like, the fuck you are? I go, You're just
got your license. It doesn't mean you're just gonna take
(08:43):
the car and go. Like, that's not how it works. Taylor, Like,
if you want to drive still with one of us, sure,
obviously that's totally okay by yourself, maybe down the road
a little bit. But I'm like, it doesn't just mean
I'm gonna hit the fucking freeway.
Speaker 6 (08:58):
Yeah, chill out.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
In the car with some random person, Yeah, that.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Doesn't mean ship And so I was like, yeah, chill out.
Speaker 6 (09:06):
But again, different from how when we grew up, because
back when we got our license, it's like we're fucking
out of here.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
We're on the freeway, blah blah blah.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
But but I'm the same way, and my daughter's friends
her parents are the same way. It's like, Okay, you
got your license, but I still don't want you going
on the freeway for the little Then.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
There there are like these rules and regulations that again
I don't think we're in existence when we got our license,
of like you're not allowed to have your friends in
the car with you, and you have to have this
age and all these things, and I'm like, when did
this start?
Speaker 5 (09:35):
It needs gonna be the same rules for Reid, right, yeah, sure,
no friends in the car.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Go anywhere else, can't go on the freeway.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Okay, okay, we just pulled over.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
He's gonna lose it, right, You don't, you're not wor
I mean, we didn't learn anything from this fucking e bike.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
You didn't learn anything we did.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
I don't know, to be honest, when it's game time.
This is gonna happen in September. That's when he's taking
his drive being behind the wheel. September, Yeah, because he
he it was a little bit late.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Remember how fucked up the permit?
Speaker 2 (10:06):
I remember that the whole thing started a couple of minutes.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
Mom failed, Okay, I was very distract started the.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Whole permit thing a couple of months behind. Remember how
that up? I mean I remember, and he.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Misses the whole summer?
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yeah, I mean he Yeah, you remember how I shut
the fuck up.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
I don't know if you remember that.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Hey, I do remember you think about it often. Okay,
I don't permit, but still, I really fucked that up.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
I don't know how I'm going to actually feel when
it comes time to it, because right now, my thoughts
would be if it's in the neighborhood and he wants
to go down the street with a friend, that's okay.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
But things that's cool.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Wait, he drives by himself down the street, not now,
when it gets driving to school event or something like that,
with the front in the car.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
So she's fine with him breaking the law, is what
she's saying. If it's not, if it's convenient for her,
then it's fine.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
Well I was sitting here driving himself to school, right, Yes.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
You can go to and from school, you can, but
you can't have friends.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
You're not supposed to have somebody under a certain name.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
Law at the law you gotta pull over A bunch
of times when I was in high school, they always
let you go.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Okay, that's good advice for you for a kids. I'm
sure you'll have that with your son.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
They always you I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
So.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yeah, So we had all these grand plans you know
that we're gonna do. Yeah, But I'm looking at I'm
talking to her, I'm giving her thought thor's hot advice
about the over exaggeration and things, and I could just
tell like she's starting to be nervous and the pressure
might be getting to her. And and my last piece
of advice for her before she walked out the door
(11:53):
to go with my wife to the driver's test is Taylor,
be confident. Just be confident in yourself. You'll be fine.
Be confident behind the wheel, and just listen to his instructions.
Do what he says. You'll be fine. You've been driving
for a while now, you know what you're doing. Just relax.
(12:15):
That's so apparently this is you know again. According to Deborah,
who drove her there, she had to wait for her turn,
so she had the appointment time. The appointment time was
like two and there were people going in front of her,
and so she had to sit there for an extra
(12:35):
almost hour waiting for it. So the anxiety is built
and built and built and built, and so by the
time it was finally her turn, she was, you know,
spinning out. And so she gets behind the wheel. She
said that the guy seemed frazzled himself because the person
(12:56):
before her that went didn't have the right paperwork, like
an Emily situation. Emily fucked that up. Remember that. Apparently
there was another thing that happened with this guy, and
so there was a big well she saw it, and
so there was this big old thing that that was
(13:17):
going down. And finally he was like done with the
person that was supposed to go. He goes, all right, well,
I'll just take the next one, all right, Taylor, you're up,
And so she was like oh and then just boom,
it's her turn now. And so it caused kind of
like this big stir whatever, and so the guy wasn't happy.
He seemed irritated, and so it just wasn't going well.
So she gets behind the wheel and they go to
(13:38):
pull out of the DMV to go on this course. Well,
immediately Taylor fucks up. So apparently there are like five
called critical errors that you can do, and if you
do one of the five, it's over nothing else you
(13:59):
will fail five critical errors. I don't know what the
five are. I do know one of them, which is
Thor's piece of advice, which is you've got to look
both ways if you're pulling out of somewhere. And that's
an obvious one, you know. So the guy says, all right,
turned left here. So Taylor puts on her blinker, looks left,
(14:22):
and then goes, oh, no, never looked.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Luckily, car from the right was coming ship.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
So obviously stupid mistake. But that's one of the five
critical errors. So it's over. So he tells her not
that you failed, but he tells her you didn't look right,
and she knows, you know that that's one of the
five critical errors, and this test is over. Over.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
She didn't argue with him, Are you sure I thought?
Speaker 1 (14:45):
I did? She she what she should have done is
just turned the car around and been like, all right,
it's done. But she finished the test. She said, everything
else went perfect, but it was over.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Did she tell you how long it was probably.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
But I don't remember what it was. There's like a course,
you know, so like they go on these different courses
or whatever. They have a course when I was not
when I say course, it's the street, but I mean
it's like a design. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
Yeah, you gotta look left, look right, look left, look right,
and then look left.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
That's what I would do.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Hold on, that's a lot of looking.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
I would look left.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
That seems crazy. They get the clipboard to go look
too many.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Times, one more time and then.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
And then I would go, this iss crazy.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
And so it was over before it even really started.
It sucks and failed, horrible stamped it. You're done. And
so she's obviously distraught, devastated. It sucks weirdly, not as
devastated as when she failed to permit test, but very odd.
But you know, it is what it is. And so
(15:47):
I said, Taylor, what you know, why didn't you look
both ways? Did you not hear the thord? And she said,
you just said turn left, and I just it got
in my head. I turned left. I had to think
about the blinker and the whole thing. And I go,
but Taylor, come on, like you got it. You gotta
be better.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
Than that not that much multitest.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
It really is right, and I mean it is critical
to look the other way. You can't do that. It's
pretty bad. So Lesson learned. She got away two weeks now,
two weeks and I said, listen, it's not the end
of the world. You gotta wait two weeks. It is
what it is now. You know what to expect to
you know, you went on. It's almost I told her
(16:25):
it was like a practice test and then you go
take it again. So it's really not that big deal.
But her her birthday is the seventeenth, so it was
she was thinking, again, birthday, this, that, all these things,
and I'm just like.

Sorry, no trip to Vegas with all your friends.
