Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Dan Caplis and welcome to today's online podcast
edition of The Dan Caplis Show. Please be sure to
give us a five star rating if you'd be so kind,
and to subscribe, download, and listen to the show every
single day on your favorite podcast platform. Were loss of
hit of the American Way last night and that Democrat debate?
If Norman Rockwell was alive and he had shown up

(00:21):
to paint that, he just would have croaked, like right
at the scene, dropped dead.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
It was so rigged.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
It is the single most rigged debate I have ever
seen in Colorado. And that doesn't mean they gave the
people the questions in advance. Not that kind of rigged,
the kind of rigged where the moderators were protecting the
candidates from themselves, where the moderators were protecting the candidates
and the Democratic Party from itself.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I mean, how do you go through that whole.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Debate and not ask a single question on the issues
that Democrats are most vulnerable on in Colorado? Not a
single Hey, General Wiser, do you think boys should be
playing in girls sports?

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Go down the list.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Homelessness at deporting criminally legals, healthcare for illegal immigrants, late
term abortion without limits?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
How about our roads?

Speaker 1 (01:12):
And the list goes on, not a single question, but
all sorts of obscure garbage nobody cares about. Hey, Polos's
veto of the bill that would have required somebody in
a driverless car.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
So it just was such a disservice to the people
of the state who deserve to hear answers from these candidates,
one of whom is likely to be not certain, likely
to be the next governor. Want a disservice to the people.
But it's not about the people, in my opinion, for
the people who put that debate on, it's about advancing

(01:48):
the interests of the Democratic Party at the expense of
their own viewers. Three of three, seven, one, three, eight, two,
five five the number DN five seven, seven through nine.
We're talking about that and much more of this on
a related debate. Note, do you want to get your
take on this? Why do you think these same moderators
only asked a single abortion question.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
In the GOP debate And it was at the end,
and it was very quick kind of a drive by.
Why do you think.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
And why do you think they didn't ask these Democrat
candidates a single question about abortion. When the Democratic Party
is built around this mass killing of humans before birth,
right up to the moment of delivery. Why do you
think they didn't ask a single question of these Democrat candidates.
I'll answer that one. Give you my take. If you
think I'm wrong, please call or text three or three

(02:41):
seven one three A two five five d an five
seven seven three nine. The reason they didn't ask the
Democrats about it at all, and that they only did
a drive by with Republicans is is they now realize
the left now realizes that abortion is a losing issue
for them that want to keep their core together on that.

(03:02):
But for the people in the middle who are going
to decide any close race, it's a losing issue for them.
As I said during the twenty twenty four presidential the
Democratic Party is aborting itself with this worship and glorification
and love of abortion no limits, right up to the moment.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
That baby's born.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Listen, everybody with the brain cell, everybody with the brain
cell understands that killing a child a minute before it's born,
a week before it's born, a month before it's born,
three months.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
It's in fantaside.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Now the reality and I won't go into the long
discussion we often have the reality of medically, you know,
it's killing a child throughout the pregnancy. But the Democratic
Party understands this has become a bad issue for them,
and that's why the candidates weren't asked about it last night,
even though the party's built around it. Wow, what a coincidence,

(03:55):
my friend. So we're talking about that, love your take
and so much more. Especially we're going on the eighty
anniversary of D Day, and it ties into in a
broader way, you know, the moment we're with in right
now with with Iran for example, and just the question
of you know where this nation's at today and the
world as compared to D Day eighty two years ago tomorrow.

(04:19):
He's a very compelling D Day sound. Also, the anniversary,
and I hate the word anniversary. Let's come up with
a better one for horrible events such as the assassination
of Robert Kennedy. But when you think about it, Ryan,
think about how dramatically different American history would be if
RFK had not been assassinated, because he was highly likely

(04:43):
to become the Democrat nominee in sixty eight instead of
Hubert Humphrey how different American history would likely be, and
obviously the big kohn a question, how different American history
would be if JFK had not been assassinated, doctor King
had not been assassinated. It's really a very deep thing
to think about on a beautiful Friday afternoon, red hot

(05:06):
throughout the weekend too. I think it's going to be
in the nineties at least in the front range Denver
metro area throughout the weekend. And you know it used
to be we'd say, man, what a beautiful weekend ahead,
And that is true. But the only thing that would
be more beautiful would be if we just had drenching
thunderstorms a weekend, right because we desperately need it. Let
me get to some text, Dan, Democrats will still win.

(05:29):
Why do you think it takes California and Los Angeles
so long to count votes? Listen, As I always say,
I'm an evidence based guy. I'm never going to say
any election was stolen unless somebody can provide me the proof.
But could anybody fault anybody for sitting here and thinking

(05:51):
that that you have an awful lot of cheating in
these California elections?

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I can't prove you do, but why does it take
so long? Right?

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, very suspicious. So that's as far as I can go,
is very very suspicious. And I'm sure there's an exception
of this, Ryan, But when's the last time that we saw,
like in California, a late night dump of votes or
a dump of votes three weeks later that favors the
Republican There's no excuse.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
For this, Dane.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
No, yeah, yeah, and listen, I think elections are generally secure,
but there is no excuse for what goes on in California. Dan,
Why don't they ever have moderators of the opposite party
doing the debate moderation? Everybody seems to be afraid of
giving hard questions answers. That's another interesting thing in Colorado

(06:43):
right now, with very few exceptions, Democrat candidates will only
agree to a debate if the moderators are the same
moderators they had last night for the Democrat debates. So
Republicans are in a situation, usually not always, not always
where they have to agree to go in with the
deck stacked against him. That did to essentially have an

(07:05):
extension of the Democrats campaign moderating the debate, which raises.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
An interesting question.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
I'd love your take on three oh three seven one
three eight two five five d A N five seven
seven three nine. You know, there have been some active,
respected voices in the Republican Party saying, you know, Republicans
should not agree to do debates moderated by those same
moderators as as last night. You know, primarily Kyle Clark,
he does most of the questioning and listen, there is

(07:33):
no question Kyle is a very intelligent guy, a very
articulate guy. His ability, you know, to to fire off
a lot of questions in a hurry, keep the pace,
keep the candidates responsive, is very impressive. And I'm just
sorry it wasn't used to fulfill the obligation of a
journalist last night, but but an immensely talented guy. And so,

(07:57):
you know, what do you think should should the GOP
can say no, we're just not going to do that.
We're going to insist on some sort of neutral moderator
or somebody who at least pretend to be neutral.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
What do you think?

Speaker 1 (08:09):
I've got strong thoughts in it, But what do you think?
Three or three seven to one three eight two five
five d an five seven seven three nine. Before I
give you my answer, what is yours young mind?

Speaker 3 (08:19):
This is from the Babylon Being. I think people will
be amused by it. On this Friday, it says, after
mail in ballots tallied, Joe Biden wins La mayor race
with eighty one million votes.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Man, So what do you think?

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Do you think Republican should just refuse to do debates
moderated by Kyle Clark?

Speaker 3 (08:37):
You can't do that, I think to the Texter's point,
though it would be fascinating, I think the equivalent would
be dan you moderating a Wiser and Bennett debate as
to Kyle Clark and Marshall Zellinger doing the Republican debate.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah, which you know, get you much bigger ratings and
everything else, but above all be much more useful for
the viewer.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
And you know what, I think useful for Wiser and
Bennett because they're not used to being challenge the way
that you would challenge them.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
And who wants to see a televised BackRub, especially a
group BackRub. No, just really, do you think it's even
mathematically possible that they could have accidentally gone through that
entire debate without asking these guys a single question on
boys and girls, sports, homelessness, crime, deportation of criminal illegals,

(09:22):
healthcare funding for illegals, late term abortion without limits, a
sentence reduction for the killer trucker because they were fixated
on Tina Peters, and roads, really go through an entire
debate without asking about Roads. Right, here's my thought. I
think it'd be perfectly reasonable for top candidates and a
race to get together if they're ever capable of that

(09:44):
and say no, we're going to insist on a neutral
moderator for me personally, if I was ever in that position,
I would I would not duck a debate with Kyle
Clark moderating. I would view it as an opportunity to
prove what I've got. And so, because everybody knows, everybody
knows in a situation like that, you're walking into a

(10:05):
stack deck, But that doesn't mean you should duck it.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Three out three seven to one three.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Eight two five five d an five seven seven three nine.
So when we come back, we're still getting a lot
of feedback on the GOP debate the other night, and
so I do want to take on some of those
texts as well. But I also want to get to
in this next segment I want to get to this
text because I know there are other people who feel
this way, and I respect the question very much, but

(10:32):
I can prove, I can prove that they are provably
dead wrong on this, and this text says, Dan, I
know you are deadfast against abortion in all forms. But
as long as Republicans continue to push anti abortion in
all forms, absolutely no republic candidate will have a chance
to win in Colorado.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
That is provably false.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
And I can also and will prove to you when
we come back, that if the Republican Party was to
abandon its pro life position, it would cease to exist
in Colorado in any meaningful way.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
You're on the Dankapla.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Show and now back to the dan Kapla Show podcast Perfect.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Bump for the announcement of this news. Where do you
think Taylor and Travis are getting married?

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (11:24):
I'm gonna go with the easy layup answer, Grease.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Oh man, I thought you had it that the way
you intro that layup answer, I thought you had it
Madison Square Garden. Oh, which, wait a minute, it's gonna
be like for the story just broke Madison's.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
That is a great next step question.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
I mean because the question is you know, will she
because she's she's always really gone out of her way
for fans, you know, like she'll show up at a
fans birthday party or this or that. You wonder if
there's going to be an opportunity for for ten or
twenty or fifty or one hundred or whatever to be there.
Imagine you could raise for charity, you know, if you

(12:02):
were to open that up. But now the article right
now is silent down that point, Young Ryan. The pieces
I'm seeing right now just say that it's going to
provide maximum privacy and security because of the ability to
bring people in on buses and then transform you know,
the arena portion into a magical this or that. So
three all three seven, one three eight two five five

(12:25):
the number d a N five seven seven three nine.
So I'm sure we'll get a lot of react to
that before we get to the phone lines, which are
in Fuego. I do want to respond to that great,
fair question from the Texter who is provably wrong in
his or her premise, which is that, hey, Dan, as
as long as the Republicans continue to push anti abortion

(12:47):
in all forms, the GOP cannot win in Colorado. I
understand the concern, But you've got it backwards. If the
GOP was to abandon it's pro life position in Colorado,
it would immediately become non competitive and very soon ceased
to exist as any meaningful force in the state. And
obviously it's in trouble as it is. And you know,

(13:10):
the other I think related point worth making is what's
the point of winning if you're just going to do evil?

Speaker 2 (13:18):
I mean, you know, so, what would you say.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
What would you say to somebody who was in public
life in the South during slavery? Would you say, hey,
you know, hey, Republicans, you really do need to support
slavery or you're never going to win down here. No,
it's there's no point in winning if you're just going
to do evil. But as a practical political matter, no,
you absolutely can win as pro life. And that's been

(13:43):
proven all over the country. It's been proven in Colorado.
President Trump just proved it in last presidential And again,
there is a reason what's triggered this conversation today, and.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Then I'll go to the phone lines.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
There is a reason that these moderators, same moderators in
the geopte debate, in the DEM debate, who obviously favored
the Colorado Democratic Party, and I've broken that down in
great detail earlier in.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
The show today.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
There's a reason they did not ask the Democrat candidates
who they were trying to help and protect. They did
not ask them a single question about abortion. If they
thought talking about abortion would help the Colorado Democratic candidates,
that's all that debate would have been about.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
But they know it's a losing issue.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
For them now because the Colorado Democratic Party supports abortion
late term to the moment of birth without restriction, and
the vast majority of Colorados see that as infanticide. That's
why there wasn't a single abortion question last night, and
that's why in the GOP debate they drove by the
issue and asked one passing question in the end very quickly. No,

(14:50):
they recognize it's a losing issue for Democrats. And one
other note here, Colorado tried your approach, Texter with an
otherwise incredibly impressive candidate and Joe O.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
Day.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
If it wasn't for his pro abortion position, Joe Oday
would have been one of the single most impressive candidates
the GOP has fielded in fifty years. But he's pro abortion,
and they ran a pro abortion nominee for Senate and
he got whacked.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
He got whacked.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
He lost by more than the GOP pro life candidate
for Attorney general did. Let's go to the phone lines.
Talk to Chris and Kinsburg has a ring twitch You're
on the Dan Kaplis show.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
Welcome, Hi Dan.

Speaker 7 (15:32):
I talked to you a couple of days ago, and
you know I listened to your show every day. I
listened to Heidi. My wife does I'm the one that
you know, we work for packs and he knock on
thousands of thousands of doors.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
And so if you we call that yes.

Speaker 7 (15:52):
Yes Center the Democratic debate last night, we did something
we never thought we would do ever. We registered unaffiliated.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
So we have the option.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
Because Bill Wiser, I mean, he really scared the heck
out of us, and really.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Did h Bennett did.

Speaker 7 (16:13):
Not no, no, no, I say, Bill, Well, they both
scared the heck out me. Okay, But from listening to everybody.

Speaker 8 (16:23):
I listened to Michael Brown, I listened.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
To John Caldera. You know, I've knocked on doors for
the Independence in tententy nineteen and yeah, and we still
do that stuff. My wife and I, you know, we
have our own business and everything we have the luxury.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
But I want your take to.

Speaker 7 (16:43):
Where John is coming from, which is what should I do?
Should I vote for the lesser of the two evils?
Dean that we've only had one Republican governor Okay, Bill Owens,
who was the governor when I moved here from California
in two thousand too, who I loved and you know,

(17:04):
or should we throw our support completely between behind Barb Kirkmeyer.
And we're at the point where John is and all
we did it for was so we have the auction
because the next month is going to be wild, and
you've said it with all the ads.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
And everything, it is going to be.

Speaker 7 (17:23):
Don't know what we're going to do yet.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
And on July first, we will reregister as Republicans for sure,
but we're not so sure that I mean.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Well, can I address it your point?

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Hey, Chris, this is so provocative and John Caldera, if
you're new to the area, John's just an icon and
always worth listening and considering. We agree on ninety percent
of things. But I do want to answer this question
when we come back. I think it's profound and very
very important. As between Wiser and Bennett, who are both
so far left and radically out of touch with the

(18:01):
Colorado mainstream, that the moderators had to protect them from
themselves last night, which would be less awful for Colorado.
I have very strong feelings in that. I think I
can prove the case to you. You're on the Dan
Caplas Show.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
You're listening to the Dan Kaplis Show podcast.

Speaker 9 (18:22):
They stand on a lonely windsweat point on the northern
shore of France. The air is soft, but forty years
ago at this moment, the air was dense with smoke
and the cries of men, and the air was filled
with the crack of rifle fire and the roar of cannon.
At dawn on the morning of the sixth of June

(18:43):
nineteen forty four, two hundred and twenty five rangers jumped
off the British landing craft and ran to the bottom
of these cliffs. Their mission was one of the most
difficult and daring of the invasion, to climb these sheer
and desolate cliffs and take out the enemy gun. The
Allies had been told that some of the mightiest of
these guns were here, and they would be trained on

(19:06):
the beaches to stop the Allied advance. The rangers looked
up and saw the enemy soldiers the edge of the cliffs,
shooting down at them with machine guns and throwing grenades,
and the American rangers began to climb. They shot rope
ladders over the face of these cliffs and began to
pull themselves up. When one ranger fell, another would take

(19:26):
his place. When one rope was cut, a ranger would
grab another and begin his climb again. They climbed, shot back,
and held their footing. Soon, one by one the rangers
pulled themselves over the top, and in seizing the firm
land at the top of these cliffs, they began to
seize back the continent of Europe. Two hundred and twenty

(19:48):
five came here after two days of fighting. Only ninety
could still bear arms. Behind me as a memorial, but
symbolizes the ranger daggers that were thrust into the top
of these cliffs. And before me are the men who
put them there. These are the boys of Puen d'joe.

(20:10):
We stand on a lonely wind sweat point on the
northern shore of France.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Wow. Wow about all you can say.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Thank you, amazing, amazing to even think about three h
three seven one three eight two five five the number
d A N five seven seven three nine red hot,
red hot callers and texters this afternoon, as we talk
about the Democrat debate last night, which I've made the
case in great detail earlier. I hope you could go
back and listen to It was the most rig debate

(20:43):
I've ever seen in Colorado. The moderators went to bizarre
extremes to protect the two Democratic candidates, and the Democratic
Party didn't ask a single question. Imagine this, a single
question about the big issues Democrats are most vulnerable int
starting with boys in girls, sports, boys and girls, bathrooms,
crime roads, I hate, healthcare for illegal immigrants. Now one

(21:07):
question on any of these big tough issues for Democrats.
It was a grave disservice to the people of the state.
Let's go back to the phone lines. Brian and Arvada.
You're on the Dan Kaplis Show.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Welcome, Hey, Dan.

Speaker 10 (21:21):
I wanted to first mention that Victor Marx guy. Anybody
that watched that debate with the Republicans and thought that guy,
I mean, the guy was so stupid that he literally
thought that Trump could pardon Tina. We all know he can.
It's a state crime. The guy's a complete idiot. If
we get Mark for a screwed the best chance we

(21:42):
have is Barby.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Let me come in on that briefly, Brian, and then
just take it point by point. My friend with Victor Marx,
I mean, there are fair questions out there about whether
the story he's been telling about himself is accurate.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
That's important.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
But anybody who thinks he's Duke, I think is is
really missing the point. I think Victor Marx is a
very very intelligent person and what he is, what he
is doing right now with say your example, or remember
late in the debate when he said to Marshall Zellinger,
who you know, it's a very well known reporter.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Yeah, what's your name again?

Speaker 1 (22:19):
Things like that, And remember Brian when Victor said, uh, yeah,
I opened up that budget bill and it was really complicated.
You know, he is playing into that, and whether it
works or not, we'll find out together. But he's playing
into that outsider thing, which is, listen, I'm not an insider,
caught up and all that stuff.

Speaker 10 (22:37):
I have to know the basics stand well, you got
to know the basics. You got to know that Trump
cannot pardon a state crime. The guy was like, and
he almost looked drunk, to be honest with you. And
this whole thing a hiding behind the Bible. Everybody's kind
of over that. We know, we know our government is
run by a unit party. Why do you think eighty

(22:58):
percent of people that are in Congress right now are
supported by Israel? Whether you're a Democrat or Republican. You
can look at it, Dan, They actually have a chart.
You can look it up your thumb right lying to
you a matter of fact, it might be eighty five percent.
Why does Israel support more than eighty five percent? We
didn't let these guys inter parent our election. And you

(23:19):
talk about abortion, we got we got another.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
We're going to tell this one by one. Brian, I'm.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
All right, And this is what Brian does. He forces
me to put him on hold, which is too bad.
I'm not going to drive by this anti Israel stuff
and Brian does this all the time.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
I'm not just going to drive by that. That is
total garbage.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
That this whole business about Israel's controlling us, the Jews
are controlling us. That's loser garbage. It's one big lie.
And Brian, I'm going to bring you back off holding.
If you want to get into any kind of specifics,
I'll take them on one by one. But that is
total garbage. I mean, this anti Christian persecution that's going

(24:02):
on in this state to the point where the US
Supreme Court has had to step in multiple times to
slap down, you know, our elected officials in Colorado for
persecuting Christians illegally. That is driven by leftist ideology. That
that's driven by leftist ideology. That's what all that anti

(24:23):
Christian stuff is about the left, and most of this
anti Christian persecution is coming from people on the left
who claim to be Christian. But that's about far left ideology.
Cannot blame Jewish people for that. I don't think Jewish
people can fairly be blamed for anything. So I don't
like that garbage.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Brian.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
If you want to get specific, get specific, and let's
take them one by one.

Speaker 10 (24:48):
Okay, Well, so what they did the Palistenian people in
your view you can look at the aerial, was that
a genocide and ethnic cleansing. No, that's not. You've got
freceiving gaza right, You've seen it above from Befoorn after
that's not twenty thousand death children.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Okay, I'm gonna put him on holding because that's what
he does.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
I have not been to Gaza because we could not
travel safely into Gaza. I have been to the West Bank,
and I have seen what's available through the media. I
don't have access to a secure material, but from everything
I'm able to see publicly, that is the opposite of
a genocide or ethnic cleansing. It is a tragedy, a

(25:32):
horror of unimaginable proportions. It is a raw evil, but
not one that Israel is to blame for. And it's
interesting when Brian calls, he never talks about what was
inflicted on Israel on October seventh, never talks about that.
So are there a lot of innocent people in Gaza? Yes,

(25:54):
but they are victims of Iran because we shouldn't even
talk about Hesbal or amas On. They're victims of Iran,
and don't blame Israel for trying to defend itself. What
else you got?

Speaker 10 (26:08):
Okay, so you're saying, because the terrorists are under the schools,
it's okay to kill children. We got your point on
that one.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Yeah, okay, I'll put them back on hold.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
No, what I'm saying is when Iran decides to launch
an invasion of Israel and mass rape women, torture women.
I won't even get into some of the specifics, burning
children alive, things like that Israel has a right to
defend itself against Iran, and Iran is using gaza as

(26:38):
that staging area. Israel has a right to go in
and make sure Iran can no longer use gaza as
that staging area. Now, does Israel have a moral obligation
to act in self defense in the most moral way possible,
sparing as many innocence as possible.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Yes, And if somebody wants to make.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
A specific case of wait, here's an alternative way that
could have protected Israel, or well is better, I'll have
that conversation with you. But anybody who's trying to argue
that Israel went in and intentionally tried to inflict a genocide,
I think is being completely unreasonable and anti factual.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
All right, Brian, what else?

Speaker 10 (27:21):
All right? Well, I'll say, like Charlie, question, why did
it take eight hours? Once they on, everybody uses October seven,
but nobody wants to bring up it took eight hours,
because that's eight hours Dan trying to make it happen.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
No, I don't. Do you think nine to eleven? Do
you think nine to eleven was staged?

Speaker 10 (27:41):
I don't know what nine to eleven?

Speaker 2 (27:43):
No, I don't just thought about that.

Speaker 10 (27:45):
There's a question about Okay, so do you think questions
about building seven? Because nobody went in Building seven? But
all I mean, you think it's plain to me?

Speaker 1 (27:53):
How so I'll interpret for Brian he thinks there's a
real chance nine to eleven was staged? Right, No, it
didn't take eight hours. It did not take eight hours.
Were there failures in some really critical areas in responding
quickly enough to the invasion of Israel by Iran? Yes,

(28:17):
there were, just like there were failures on the part
of the US government in protecting against nine to eleven.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Does that mean the US government wanted nine to eleven? No?
And what you see in Israel is there.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Was so this whole big Ryan's pointing out, I need
to hit this brake and then we'll come back to
our ferry lines. We also are looking forward to a
drop with our good friend Jerry Shimmel. But no, no,
there was immediate response in Israel in certain sectors, in
certain ways, and then there were mistakes made and in
some areas there was a delayed response. There was not

(28:51):
a blanket eight hour delay. You're on the Dan Kapla Show.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
And now back to the Dan Kapla Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Hey yeah, lines on fire. We'll get back to everybody,
our great Texters.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
But what an absolute privilege to go to the VIP
line and welcome truly one of the greatest Colorados ever.
I just mean as a human and then you get
to his prolific accomplishments and that is one Jerry Shemmel. Jerry,
welcome back to the show.

Speaker 6 (29:16):
Dan.

Speaker 7 (29:16):
Thanks thanks for having me.

Speaker 6 (29:17):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Well, it is my pleasure.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
So you got something big coming up and I just
want to make sure everybody knew about it in case
you want to support it.

Speaker 8 (29:26):
Yes, sir, I'm doing a crazy bike race again. Yeah,
We're doing the race across the West, which is San
Diego to Durango, Colorado, eight hundred.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
And sixty miles. I get tired driving the.

Speaker 8 (29:38):
First day fifty six thousand feet of climbing and it's
a race. So I'm a competitor in the sixty plus
age group. Supefully I can be competitive that way, but
I'm doing it as a fundraiser, Dan, I'm doing I
have a four year old grandson who's got down syndrome.
Now I'm doing it for a ministry called Best Day Ministries,
and they serve the special needs community.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
At Northern Colorado.

Speaker 8 (30:01):
They have a coffee shop that employees sixteen special needs adults.
They have a online platform that special needs folks can
market sell their personally made products. Then they have a
church at the coffee shop, church service once a month.
So right now they're going strong, but they're undersupported. So
I'm just trying to help raise some money for a
great cause and hopefully I have a great time riding

(30:23):
three or four days of my bike for eight hure
and sixty miles.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
I mean, you're amazing. I mean truly you are a specimen.
But what is this coffee shop called again? And how
can people contribute?

Speaker 8 (30:35):
Yeah, it's called Best Day Coffee and Crapes. It's in
downtown Long Month.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
My race.

Speaker 8 (30:41):
I have website for that, Dan, It's called.

Speaker 10 (30:43):
Team Best Day.

Speaker 8 (30:44):
So team Bestday dot com and tell us all about
the ministry, about the race, about the course, about my
background as a cyclist and a broadcaster and all that.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
So got Teambestday dot Com.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Man, I'll tell you, Jerry, not to get most of you,
but a lot of us talk about being Christian, but
you like, really live it to the max. I mean,
it is so impressive. And by the way, Jerry's an
author the book Chosen to Live. It's really a very
moving story of Jerry surviving the Flight two thirty two crash,
and so a book that is well worth the read.

(31:18):
But Jerry, one more time on the website, how people
can support this team.

Speaker 8 (31:22):
Yeah, team Bestday dot com. You can make a donation
right there. All the information there about like I said,
about the ministry, about the race, about qualifying for it,
everything you need to know about it. But yeah, team
Bestday dot com.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Well go get him.

Speaker 10 (31:37):
Man.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
Hey, appreciate the time today.

Speaker 8 (31:39):
All right, Dan, good to talk you my man.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Thank you, Jerry. You take care of Jerry shimmel Man.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
If you don't know his story, he is an amazing
human and truly I'm going to go to that website.
I hope you do as well. Let's go to Paul
in Denver. You're on the Dan Kapla Show.

Speaker 6 (31:53):
Welcome, Paul, Welcome, Thank you, Ann. I want to talk
to you about jan anti abortion thing. First of all,
I'm not a favorite abortion either, but I think this
opinion that people wouldn't stand for Joe Day and vote
for him, even though, like you said, he was an
exceptionally gifted candidate because he was pro abortion. You know
what I mean, He wasn't anti abortion, he's pro abortion.

Speaker 8 (32:12):
Right.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
That's a ridiculous point. If we want to take this
state back, we're going to do it overnight. We're not
gonna take it immediately, get back and go all the
way the other way. We've got to take it in
small steps. And people are so anti abortion in the state.
Howcome that thing that a bill to pass to make
it illegal get late term abortions didn't pass a couple
of years ago. That's not going to happen. It's just

(32:33):
not going to happen. Dan, We got our nose off
to spider our face all day long on anti abortion.
I know you're again and you think it's evil. I understand.
I'm not all right telling you to come verize your rights,
but we got to get there somewhere. Don't you think
Joe Day would have been one hundred times better than
the people who got elected.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Great fair questions on all three, Paul, and let me
take them one by one. First, No, because even though
I think Joe O. Day, had you've been pro life,
would have been one of our best Senate candidates ever.
And I think he would have done better in the
general if he had been pro life, because he wouldn't
have shed the conservative support. Listen, the people for whom
abortion is the top priority, they're always going to vote

(33:12):
for the Democrat because the Democrats celebrate it, no restrictions
to the moment of birth. Yeah, they're never going to
vote for the Republicans. So all Joe Oday did was
cost our senate candidate conservative votes and support. But no,
so in terms of would Joe Day have been better
than the Democrat alternative? Very fair question from Paul, and

(33:34):
the answer is a resounding no. For this reason that
if you had elected Joe O. Day, who was so
impressive in every other way and a really cool guy,
if you had elected Joe O. Day, then you're not
only stuck with all these pro abortion votes, but now
you have broken down that the pro life position of

(33:56):
the Republican Party. You've put a big crack in that
which is going to do more long term damage to
the pro life movement. So no, but I do appreciate
the question on that that the belief that we can
never win as pro life I think has been disproved historically.
It's being disproved nationally right now. But I understand it's

(34:19):
a tougher burden. It was a tougher burden for the
people who said, you know what, we've got to take
on slavery. We've got to free the slaves. We've got
to convince the people that slavery is wrong. So yeah,
do we have a harder hill to climb in Colorado
because we're going to have to persuade some people. Yeah,
but that's what we're here for. Ran great job, my friend.

(34:40):
Hope everybody has a magnificent weekend and then cannot wait
to join you Monday.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
God in management Willing on the Dan Kapla Show.
