Speaker 3 (00:19):
Man Dix is the Troubleshooter Show.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
No, Tom Martino.
Speaker 5 (00:24):
Hey, I'm Tom Martino.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Welcome to the show.
Speaker 5 (00:29):
Forty five years strong in Denver, more than fifty years
when you count everything, solving problems, answering questions, taking adlaince
and making your life just a little easier. I've been
saying that so many times, and you know I love
doing it. So I just want to say thank you
right up front for trusting me all this time.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
I say this because I went to give a talk
the other night.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
A wonderful, wonderful, wonderful group of women dress for Success Denver,
and I just want to say this so many people.
I sit here in the studio and you know, there
are no there are no audience and bleachers and people
to look out over that I've been talking to all
these years. But then you talk to people and they say,
(01:14):
you help my father, you help my uncle, you help me,
you help my daughter, you help my son.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
We did this, we.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
Did that, and they talk about the show, and of
course I didn't do it personally, but this show that
I invented. I'm proud of. And I was the first one,
the first one anywhere to do a show like this anywhere.
I don't even know if shows like this still exist.
I was also the first one in the newspaper to
do action columns where people would write in and then
I would I would answer this. And I just want
(01:42):
to say I'm gratified, thank you very much, especially with
this hilacious year of going over this twenty twenty five
battle with cancer.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Speaking of which, I had a group of.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Men that I got to know very well that were
diagnosed around the time I will and two of them
had passed, and the third one. There were four of us.
The third one passed just a few days ago, and
I just want to say, Michael, I'm thinking about you
and Linda, his wife, God bless you.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
I'm so sorry. We all had pancreatic cancer.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
And I don't know if you believe that there's a
purpose in the way things turn out. But for some reason,
my tumor was not did not metastasize, it was localized,
and they got it immediately before any metastasis. And they
(02:42):
say I'm cancer free, and I'm pretty much cured right now,
and we'll see what happens. I get screened every three months. Now,
why am I bringing this up? I'm going to go
to Doug, and I'm going to tell you why I'm
bringing this up. There's a very specific reason, and we
got to do something about it. Okay, seriously, I'm bringing
this up for a reason for you right now. There
there are so many cancers on the on the rise
(03:04):
right now, Doug. Hey, Doug, what is going on in
your life? What's happening?
Speaker 6 (03:11):
Well, it's not great for my step mother.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Uh oh, tell me, Okay, tell me what's going on
with your stepmother.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Let's let's talk about it. What's going on?
Speaker 6 (03:21):
Well, my strange sister of the family ended up attaching
herself to her about a year and a half ago.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Now, what do you mean by attaching? What did she do?
Speaker 6 (03:33):
She moved in with her Okay, got it?
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Did she start living?
Speaker 5 (03:39):
So she started she started basically siphoning off of her.
Now this is your Is she your sister? Did you say, Doug?
Speaker 6 (03:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Yes, And she moved in with her mom.
Speaker 6 (03:54):
My stepmother, our our step mother.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Okay, And were you close to your step mother?
Speaker 6 (04:01):
We're we're pretty close.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
But okay, so what's the story. What's going on? Your sister.
What's her first name?
Speaker 6 (04:09):
Joni her Jones.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
Okay, so Joan moved in with with your step mom,
So what's going on.
Speaker 6 (04:17):
Well, before she actually moved in with her, she told
my stepmother that she needs to be on the house
because she was she was going to come here and
take care of her. And this is in twenty five Doug.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Did and did did she get put on the deed?
Speaker 6 (04:40):
Yeah, my stepmother signed a U quick claim indeed with her.
Oh no, she was going to be there to take,
you know, take care of her, help her out for
the rest of her life. And then this house would
become my sister's forever home as well.
Speaker 7 (04:58):
Put it with my stepmother.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
All right, So hold on this.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
This has the makings of a really bad scam. Doug.
I want to say something right now while we're on
this topic, I want to say this for people, people
be very very careful. Quit claim deeds are very easy
to file and this is not the first time we've
heard of people being taken advantage of with a quick
(05:25):
claim deed. So, Doug, she talked herself on to the deed.
So is it are they still both on the deed
or what's happened since February of twenty twenty five.
Speaker 6 (05:39):
Well, they were living together fine apparently, and then all
of a sudden, this march a sewer back up, you know,
backed up the sewer in the house and they had
to have you know, the mitigation team come in and
clean out and cut out dry. Well, well that's when
my sister told my stepmom, we need to sell because
(06:01):
this house is too old to you know, take care
of and we're going to go our separate ways. So
she's no longer going to take care of her in
her elderly did she kind.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
Of did Joan kind of demand that the house be sold.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
She just talked Joe into It's my stepmom's name is Joe,
but just talked her, you know, talked her into it.
Speaker 8 (06:26):
She's okay, had her.
Speaker 6 (06:28):
Isolated out there for in Lakewood for about a year.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Okay. So did they sell the house.
Speaker 6 (06:36):
They were going to sell the house together for sale
by owner and Joanie was going to take care of
all of that and just get a title company. And I, yeah,
my stepmother. I told my stepmother, you need to get
an attorney to look at the paperwork for the sale
so that you don't get taken advantage of by joey okay.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
So what happened?
Speaker 6 (07:01):
She ended up by the way.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
By the way, what I don't understand is this Joni
moves in with with step mom and then wants to
sell it and expects to get something. Well, Jonie's not
entitled to a penny. She's only been there with her
since twenty twenty five? Was she expecting to get half?
What the hell is going on here, Doug was was Joan?
(07:24):
Was Joni expecting to get half of the proceeds or something?
Speaker 6 (07:29):
Yep, this is the only thing that my stepmom has
to live on.
Speaker 9 (07:33):
She's well, here's what.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
I don't understand.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
What entitles Joni to anything?
Speaker 6 (07:39):
Well, the quick clay, indeed is what she's Yeah, but
big deal.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Big big deal. That's just a piece of paper. But
what this is? So Jonie moves in what's your stepmom's
name again, Joe? She moves in with Joe okay, and
then basically a year later, says to Joe, we got
to sell the house and now she wants half. Come on, man,
(08:04):
that she's entitle to anything? Why would she be entitled
to anything? What did she do for that year that
would entitle her to half of the proceeds? What would
she be into? Why?
Speaker 6 (08:18):
Well, she she did change out of the bathroom vanity,
big break, new deal. Yeah, and she took a bedroom
and tore her out the closets in the bedroom and
turn it into her office.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
So Jonie wants Jonie wants half of the proceeds, right.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
Yep, she went past the house, so yeah half.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
Oh this is sick. Anyway, Where does this stand right now?
Doug Man, I hope we can help Joe your step mom.
Where does this stand right now?
Speaker 6 (08:52):
Well? She she did hav An attorney do a demand letter,
and it is to pay Jonie off to sign the
house back over and leave. And she said she had
a scoffed at it and says, I'm gonna get half
this house.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Joni said that.
Speaker 6 (09:14):
Yeah, she said that she paid nine months of the
mortgage that's on the house.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
Okay, So meanwhile Jony paid nine months plus she renovated
the house.
Speaker 6 (09:27):
Right, Well, if you consider renovation, changing out of vanity,
putting some pain on the walls and tear it out,
two closets in a bedroom and turning.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
Well okay, but she did something. I want you to
hold on. Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna retackle this. I
just want to say something people, it's a recipe for
disaster when greed takes over greed, especially among family members.
We're going to continue this call and see if there's
(09:57):
something we can do to bawl out Joe from this
viper that entered her house. This sucks.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
If you have elderly people.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
Please please please keep an eye on their finances, keep
an eye on everything, because there are vultures out there
within your own family.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Welcome to the show.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
This hour is brought to you by renew home Innovations

show that we'll get to on launching businesses and how
to grow and we'll talk about that too. I'm Tom Martino.
This is the troubleshooter show go with a sure thing

have Nick Fox renew Home Innovations dot Com and we'll
(12:20):
talk to him about Italian porcelain. He's a direct importer.
Now wait to hear that, Doug. Here's what I'm thinking. Okay,
right now, where does it stand? And then we'll work backwards.
Here's for those listening. Joan moved in with their step
mom Joe. So Joan is living there, did some renovations,
(12:44):
some minor home improvements, and paid the mortgage for nine months.
Then she says, we need to sell this house. Well,
it sounds to the deal was supposed to be that
Joan was going to take care of Joe for the
rest of her life in that home and then sell
it or then give it to Joan. But as soon
(13:06):
as Joan got some improvements done, now she's changing her
tune and she's saying, well, Joe, you're going to have
to go.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
And so where does it stand right now?
Speaker 6 (13:19):
It just stands where they're just at a stealemate where
neither one are going to leave the house. And they
both say, I mean, of course, my stepmom spent forty
eight years there, so she's definitely not leaving I told her.
Speaker 5 (13:30):
Don't leave. And what does Joan? What does Joan? What
does Joan want right now? She simply wants the house sold?
Is that correct?
Speaker 10 (13:39):
She?
Speaker 6 (13:40):
Yeah, she wants half of the half of the.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
Now, does does your mom owe any money on the house?
Speaker 6 (13:47):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (13:47):
She does?
Speaker 4 (13:48):
How much?
Speaker 6 (13:49):
Yea is a seventy to seventy two or seventy three
thousand dollars mortgage on it?
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (13:55):
And how much is the house worth?
Speaker 6 (14:00):
Probably maybe five hundred maybe maybe a little less.
Speaker 11 (14:04):
It's a nineteen Wait.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Wait wait wait you mean eighty five thousand?
Speaker 11 (14:11):
No?
Speaker 9 (14:12):
No, the for what for them?
Speaker 5 (14:15):
How much is the house worth? She owes seventy three grand?
How much is it worth?
Speaker 6 (14:20):
It's like five hundred thousand probably?
Speaker 5 (14:22):
Okay, So she's got a lot of equity in this thing.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
Yeah it's okay.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Except now guess what, Doug, Now Joan expects to get
half of that for? I mean, would Joan be amenable
to just being paid off? Because I'm thinking, Doug, if
we get your step mom, listen to this, If we
get your step mom into a reverse loan, she can
(14:50):
take out a line of credit and pay off Joe
can take out this line of credit and pay off
the vulture Joan and get Joan out of her life.
Would would Joan let her do I mean yeah, would
Joan let her do that? Or not?
Speaker 6 (15:06):
She wants half the house only she says, I'm going
to get half this house.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
But why does she think she what entitles her to half.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
Of the house?
Speaker 6 (15:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
I'm just all right, listen, Doug, Doug. This this is ridiculous.
So I'm so happy you called before all this went down.
I'm now now bo I hear you in the studio,
Deputy Bow.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
You know what, maybe we.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
Can talk some sense into Joan if we tell her
we're and listen to this man, I'm thinking what we do? Uh,
this could be elder abuse.
Speaker 12 (15:45):
This.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
How is your stepmom, Joe? Is she with it?
Speaker 5 (15:51):
How old is she?
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Did you say?
Speaker 5 (15:52):
And is she with it? Or does she have any dementiaal?
How old?
Speaker 6 (15:57):
Eighty two? And she's you know, pretty pretty with it?
Pretty with it? Okay, all right, completely, she's just kind
of gone along with everything that Jonie wanted to do.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
So is Joni your sister?
Speaker 6 (16:11):
She is, She's one of the old or second oldest sister.
I have six sisters.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Are you able to talk to her about stuff.
Speaker 6 (16:19):
Absolutely not. She I have not talked to Joni in
thirty years.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
She she are you willing.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
To try to talk to her?
Speaker 6 (16:30):
Uh? Well, irma, Joe did not want me to talk
any of us to talk to her. So want to
make life life hell at home for her?
Speaker 5 (16:38):
How many siblings that, Doug, there's you and there's Joni.
How many other siblings?
Speaker 11 (16:45):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (16:46):
Four?
Speaker 6 (16:46):
Four others?
Speaker 13 (16:47):
I have two three sisters.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
And what do they think?
Speaker 4 (16:52):
What do they think about this situation?
Speaker 5 (16:55):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (16:55):
They think it's ridiculous because this is her, her her
modus around.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
Whatever she's done, her m o, her motas EPERONDI, you're right, yeah, hermo.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Why has she done other things?
Speaker 5 (17:08):
Has she done other things to suck off of people? Yes?
Speaker 6 (17:12):
My mother for before my mother, I mean my mother.
She died a year and a half ago, but she
lived with my mother with my mom's trust from her
father for years.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Okay, tell me tell me the family dynamic here. There's
you and your siblings, and how is this your step
mom was this? Is she married to your dad or
she was married to your dad?
Speaker 6 (17:39):
She's married my dad who passed away in twenty twenty two.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
Okay, now you you kept a good relationship with your
dad and your step mom and your biological mom.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Yes, okay.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
And and all of the siblings do they have a
good relationship with Joe their stepmomh they.
Speaker 6 (18:01):
Have a good one. Yeah, it's good.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
And you're just doing this out of concern that she's
being taken advantage of.
Speaker 6 (18:10):
Well, I know she's being taken advantage of. I told
her not to move that devil into her house.
Speaker 8 (18:16):
So, but she.
Speaker 6 (18:17):
Needed it because of her financial situation, and you know
that's how people get.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
Now, let me ask you something. She paid nine months.
Who's paying the mortgage now?
Speaker 8 (18:29):
Joe?
Speaker 5 (18:30):
So Joe went back to paying the mortgage. So how
much was that mortgage? How much of the mortgage did
Jonie pay over that nine month period?
Speaker 4 (18:39):
About how much?
Speaker 6 (18:42):
Approximately twelve twelve ten? I mean it's fourteen It was
fourteen oh nine, so yeah, she paid that for.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Okay, So she paid fourteen oh nine for nine months.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
Okay. Now, and how much does she think the home
improvements are worth?
Speaker 6 (19:02):
She won't produce any receipts and has not given a price.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
The only thing, what do you think is worth? I mean,
I got Nick Fox with me, tell me what she did.
And I'm going to ask Nick here from renew Home
Innovations just for some ideas.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
Down the vanity changed out handy in the bathroom.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Yup.
Speaker 6 (19:22):
And then she, you know, put some paint on the
walls in the house.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Yep, go ahead.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
Or old carpeting which exposed the hardwoods.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
Now the old carpeting in the whole house.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
Yeah, the old carpeting because it was there for my debt.
Speaker 5 (19:38):
What size of well, okay, what size house is it?
Speaker 6 (19:41):
It's about twelve twelve hundred and thirteen hundred square feet?
Speaker 5 (19:45):
Okay, So she did thirteen hundred square feet of carpet,
one vanity, what else?
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Anything else?
Speaker 6 (19:51):
Tore out closets in the bedroom that she turned into.
Speaker 5 (19:57):
Her office, okay?
Speaker 4 (20:00):
And what else? Anything on the exterior of the house.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
Nothing on the exterior, No major stuff like plumbing.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
No. All right. So, Nick, if you had to just
take a wild guess, I'm thinking this can't be more
than fifteen thousand.
Speaker 11 (20:20):
That's exactly.
Speaker 14 (20:22):
That's exactly what fifteen maximum twenty thousand, depending on fifteen.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
So even if we give her the benefit of this,
let's just say twenty and another twelve six, twenty thirty
three let's just say thirty two grand, and now Joni
believes she should get half of that equity for that investment.
She believes just for putting in about thirty two thousand
(20:47):
or whatever, she should get half of the house.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Is that right?
Speaker 5 (20:53):
Yep?
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Okay, hold on, Deputy bo.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
Let's try to give this woman a call and reason
with her, and then let's see if there's any there's Yeah.
Speaker 15 (21:04):
Tom, I'd like to mention, do you think someone like
Brad O'Brien could maybe bring up a quiet title action
to squash this quick claim because maybe.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
This under what? Under what pretense? Though I I don't
think he'd be.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
The one to do it.
Speaker 15 (21:17):
Well, it's a financial abuse, and then Doug, you can
call it. Contact a Colorado Attorney general because financial abuse
of an ellery person is.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
Let's let's look into that. Let's look into that. You
hold on, give her, but bo, I want you to start.
I want you to start hinting at that. Okay, for
I want you to hint at that with her. Okay,
three oh three seven one three talk seven one three

Speaker 8 (22:55):
Tom? I please a trust backing thember.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
But now listen, what kind of a truck was it?
Speaker 5 (23:06):
You're used? No, it's used and what year in making?
Speaker 8 (23:10):
Model twenty twelve Ford Expedition.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
Okay, so what's going on with it?
Speaker 8 (23:17):
Well, the truck's fine. I've been been able to get
plates on this vehicle because of this dealership has yet
to get the paperwork and all right, motorricles.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
Now they stephen, What was the actual date of the purchase?
Speaker 4 (23:32):
When did you close on it?
Speaker 6 (23:34):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (23:37):
I don't have that. It was probably the seventeenth November.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
Okay, and listen man, that you've waited. See the law
says a reasonable amount of time, and you've been waiting
since November of twenty twenty five. That's ridiculous, right, I mean,
that's ridiculous. I hope you haven't put a lot of
(24:02):
money into this truck because we can force them to
undo this deal. I don't know they they would have
not a leg to stand on without. Have they told
you that that they'll give you a full refund?
Speaker 8 (24:16):
No, here's let me continue with my story.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
All right, go ahead.
Speaker 8 (24:21):
I've tried to have gotten a letter from part of
the vehicle because at this point they can't do anything
for me. Uh So I went down there to the
dealership just yesterday. Yeah they are they are gone.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
They're not Oh no, no.
Speaker 8 (24:40):
They're not returning my phone calls.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
Wait, is it is it empty? Is the dealership empty?
Speaker 8 (24:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (24:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (24:50):
Oh my gosh. What was the name of the dealer.
Speaker 8 (24:54):
A F Auto Sales?
Speaker 5 (24:57):
You said A s Okay, like, okay, that's Alpha Sierra
as right. Okay, Now have you checked with the state
licensing board?
Speaker 8 (25:11):
I have not yet.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Now as motors, where was it located?
Speaker 8 (25:19):
I'm I'm marrishon of.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (25:24):
And what do we do in a case like this?
You know what we're going to have to do. We
need to get JFR Cars on as an expert. I
want to talk to Rodney or maybe Bob over there,
Bob Perry or Rodney Acts. Let's try to get one
of those on the air. What I'd like to know
is what do you do in a situation like this?
I wonder, I wonder if the car have you done
(25:46):
a title search on the car? Sir Steven, No, sir,
How did you pay for this truck?
Speaker 8 (25:54):
I paid two brand down and then I started making
paym until three, poking up to who.
Speaker 11 (26:04):
Too?
Speaker 8 (26:05):
Well, the kid had sold me a car to deal
with you?
Speaker 5 (26:09):
So you're literally right now then you how were you paying?
Were you mailing that payment or were you walking it in?
How were you doing it. How are you paying? Okay,
so right now, have you stopped making payments?
Speaker 8 (26:27):
Yes, I'm not saying yeah, I had one coming up,
but that's not going to happen. I wouldn't even know.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
Right right. The good news, The good news is that
someone has time. Who has the title? I mean somebody
has it. I'm surprised. And the reason they did a
buye here, pay here is because they probably could not
get a title to give to a lender, so they
(26:53):
were actually financing you in house, right all right?
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Now, what was the plan.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
Was the plan that they were going to carry the
loan for the life of the loan or were they
going to get you alone? What was the plan they
were going to carry it the loan?
Speaker 9 (27:08):
Yet?
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Oh? Man, you know what this is weird?
Speaker 5 (27:14):
Hold on, Stephen, hey, acts, Let's get Rodney or Bob
on from JFR.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Cars and see what we can do here. All right, we.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
Have another discussion I was going to have when I
started out.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
I told you how some of my brothers that I
met during my cancer.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
Treatment have passed away, and one of them who we
were holding hope out for, Michael, passed away a few
weeks ago, and I said, I brought this up for
a reason, and this is one of the reasons. Right now, Okay,
health insurance has got to start paying for screening. Health
(27:55):
insurance right now, the way it's set up, does not
pay for wellness care. They pay for sickness care or
accident care. And people, I'm going to tell you something.
If I had a normal screening, just a normal screening,
let's say, months or years before now. In my case,
(28:18):
thank god, my cancer did not spread, but I was
probably within a month or so of it going crazy
and we were able to get it out. And how
many people I don't want to be morbid here, but
we have to we have to change the fundamental dynamic
of health insurance. Do you know how many lives would
(28:43):
be saved if we simply did cancer screening. Now they
have a blood test that can do it, but there's
still some you know, the jury's still out on that,
but it's better than nothing. And then ensure and says
it's experimental, right, but what about just a CT scan,
(29:05):
a PET scan. I mean, think about it. I really
mean this. I don't think you realize how many lives
could be saved. Because right now, whether we like it
or not, there are a certain number of people listening
to me right now that has cancer growing inside of
(29:26):
them is growing right now.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
I don't want to scare you, but it is.
Speaker 5 (29:33):
And yet insurance, while they paid out millions of dollars
for my care, they never would pay for screening.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Think about that, just normal screening.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
Why is that? What are they afraid of? Do they
want people? Here's what I'm thinking, really, because I've said,
health insurance is one of the only industries where you
have to do less to make more. Every other industry
you have to do more, fde better service to make
more money. With health insurance, they have to do less
(30:05):
to make more money. Now are they hoping that when
you do discover cancer, in many cases, it might be
too late to save your life, so they cut their losses.
When you die, they don't have to pay anymore, whereas
if you screened and they found a cancer, they would
have to start treatment and maybe they would have more
living cases than short dead ones. I want to know
(30:31):
why we can't get cancer screening covered. Honest to God,
it's the one thing that bar nothing else.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
It's the one thing it will find.
Speaker 5 (30:45):
It will find cancer probably in every case it'll find
it in time enough to do something about it. You know,
long before that little nodule showed up on my liver
I excuse me, on my pancreas, on the tip of
my pancreas and pressed on my bile duct. Thank god,
because of where it was located. It gave me immediate
(31:06):
symptoms and it was isolated. They couldn't believe it. They said, Tom,
you're a three percenter, you know, three percent maybe of
the cases are this isolated and this early. So we
think we can put a W in the column here
for you. And so what I want to know is like,
(31:29):
had I had a scan earlier, it would have found it.
And what about you? Why can't we get health insurance
to pay for cancer screening?
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Do you have any ideas?
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 16 (31:40):
Tom, I, well, you know my idea is more practical
not you know, I'm not going to wonder why insurance
companies don't do it, because that's pretty obvious, right, It's
cheaper for.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Them to pay.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
So come back to you, But what is your Well
a few months ago you.
Speaker 16 (31:52):
Told me about some fancy schmancy scan that you had done,
and I'd like to find out will that service provider
offer it to a small like me who would just
walk in.
Speaker 5 (32:01):
Says free direct pay you cash.
Speaker 16 (32:04):
Not an insurance company. And if snow is so, what
would it actually? You know what if we set up
like a.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
Group on Zeo for our listeners, you know what, that
may not be a bad idea to actually do some
mann It is a great idea. Yeah, and right now
it's cost prohibitive. We got more coming up sticking around.
We're going to talk about this and I have Rod

bought a used truck, okay, and he bought it and never.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Got a title.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
He bought it in November of twenty twenty five. Now
he was making payments to the dealer buy here, pay here,
and they went out of business. He still has a
truck with no title and he has now been making
(34:09):
payments since November.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
What does he do? Rod? Do you have any idea
what he should do? Is Rod?

Speaker 5 (34:24):
Okay, he's not there. Acts would you check please and
let us know. I'm thinking another thing. I was thinking
out loud. I wonder if that dealer did have the
title and they were holding it because they were financing
the deal. Steven brings Steven up, Steven, did they have
(34:47):
the title in house and they were holding it because
you were financed? Oh?
Speaker 8 (34:52):
That would be something I don't know.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
Well, here's what I want to know.
Speaker 5 (34:57):
I guess how do you know you did not have
titles because you could not get plates? Have you been
driving around on temporary plates?
Speaker 8 (35:07):
I am been?

Okay, Now did we get Rod re established? Guys?
Speaker 4 (35:12):
Just a really quick yes or no is good for me.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Do we have him on? Yes?
Speaker 4 (35:18):
Not yet?
Speaker 5 (35:18):
Okay, So here's what we're gonna do. We'll probably bring
it up to the break and Steven, we're gonna get
him on. There's got to be a procedure for people
like you who have been buy here, pay here, and
then the dealer goes away. But I wonder where the
title is? You see if this was a bad dealer. Okay, Rod,
(35:39):
you're there, Rod? Real quick, Rod, if you were if
you bought a he bought a truck. We're running out
of time, and I want you to think about this, though, Rod,
buy here, pay here, they never had title?
Speaker 4 (35:53):
He doesn't have title?
Speaker 5 (35:55):
He wants to know what to do now that they're
out of business? Can you go to the licensing board?
Do they have a procedure? He's been making payments. He's
had the truck since November of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
And on the phone, I have Rodney.
Speaker 5 (37:40):
With Jfarcars, who's our car expert.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
For this one.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
Call here and we'll be talking about things. And I'm
getting a lot of texts on cancer screening, people who
have done it on their own, and it came up
with a discussion I had about, of course, my myself
going through cancer treatment in twenty twenty and I'm still
having lingering effects, but thank god, no reoccurring cancer.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
In the bottom line is this, I was caught in time.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
Very very rare three percent of the time maybe for
my aggressive kind of cancer, which was pancreatic cancer, found
before it even went to another it went nowhere. It
was right on the tumor, right on the head of
the pancreas. The reason I'm saying this is because I
want to know why everyone is not covered for cancer screening.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
It would save millions and millions.
Speaker 5 (38:36):
Of dollars in health care costs, and it would save lives.
But is the goal of health insurance to really save lives?
Is it?
Speaker 4 (38:45):
I don't think it is. I don't think it is.
I listen.
Speaker 5 (38:49):
I feel that insurance is an evil industry. Its entire
its entire existence is based on trying to do as
little as possible to make as much as possible. That
is the model, folks. No other business, No other businesses
like that. Most business, not most. Every business has to
(39:13):
do more to make more. With insurance, they have to
do less to make more. The only way to do
less is to withhold treatment. They would they think, oh,
if we do massive screenings, we're gonna find bunches of
people with cancer ahead of time. And you think, well,
that's good thing, isn't it. No, not for that insurance company,
(39:36):
because what they'd rather have are think of this. Okay,
you have a thousand people that you're ensuring. Five hundred
of them, let's say, or no, two hundred of them
have lingering cancer they don't know about, okay, And when
they find out about it, they start getting treatments and
all of that. So now you have two hundred people
(39:57):
you're treating, plus the people that randomly got cancer. Anyway,
Now let's take that same one thousand people and you
don't do that screening, and that two hundred people that
you found, you find too late and they die within
a year and a half. That actually saved the insurance
(40:18):
company money. So maybe that's why they don't want screening
because their goal is not to save lives, because everyone,
almost everyone would find cancer in time to do something
about it.
Speaker 4 (40:37):
Right now, there is cancer lingering inside many of you.
Speaker 5 (40:40):
I don't want to be morbid here, folks, but I
think back in the times just before I was diagnosed,
I was fat and happy, thinking I had the world
by the talent. I didn't know there was something growing
inside me. There's got to be a way for detection
to be covered by insurance. Anyway, let's go through this
(41:02):
other call and then we'll pick up on that topic.
If you have any suggestions. I think there should actually
be laws because health insurance are all insurance.
Speaker 4 (41:12):
It's an evil industry.
Speaker 5 (41:13):
We literally need laws to protect ourselves against insurance practices.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
Rod with Jfarcars.
Speaker 5 (41:21):
Rod Steven's been making payments to a dealer by here,
pay here.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
The dealer went out of business. But here's the problem.
Speaker 5 (41:31):
They didn't even well Heath says they didn't even have
the title. Now why they didn't have the title, I
don't know, Stephen. Are you sure the dealer did not
have a title? Are you sure of that?
Speaker 8 (41:47):
I have no idea.
Speaker 5 (41:49):
At this point, when you were making payments and you
could not get your tags, what did they tell you
the reason was?
Speaker 4 (41:57):
What did the dealer tell you the reason was?
Speaker 5 (42:00):
Did they say they couldn't find the title or they
didn't get to What were they telling you when you
went to them for temporary tags every few months?
Speaker 4 (42:08):
What did they tell you.
Speaker 8 (42:11):
The paperworker was tied up in the mail or it
was tied up in the system.
Speaker 5 (42:19):
So we can assume maybe that they did not have
the title. So Rodney, I don't know what does he
do right now? He's been making payments. He has a
bill of sale, don't you, Steven have a bill of sale?
I do, and it has a vein number on it.
It identifies the vehicle. What does he do with that?
(42:41):
Can he go to the state and just say it's
a loss title and possibly get a bonded title.
Speaker 11 (42:49):
Well, if a business, if a dealership goes out of business,
the state titling board, which is at the call facts,
and I think it's pretty location. I think, yeah, if
you go down there, you can they take over when
a dealership goes out of business.
Speaker 5 (43:09):
And especially Okay, so what if, though, well, what if
that dealer, what if that dealer was shady and I
think they were, and there is no title. Let's say
the dealer doesn't even have a title. Can the state
issue a title?
Speaker 11 (43:28):
You know, I'm gonna refer to them. I have a
phone number for these guys and they can answer that question.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
Okay, tell if he.
Speaker 11 (43:35):
Tells him and walks through the whole scenario that that.
I don't think I've ever heard of that happening. I know,
I know it has happened. I mean, I've never dealt
with anybody who's had to deal with that, but I
do know from our titles clerks that they said, just
go to the state titling board and they should be
able to clear it up and give him the answers
(43:56):
that he's needing. And let me give you a phone number.
That may make sense, all right.
Speaker 5 (44:01):
So Steven, are you in a position, Steven to write
down a number or maybe we can get it and
text it to you. But Rodney, let's let's have that
number three.
Speaker 11 (44:13):
To zero five fifty six hundred.
Speaker 5 (44:18):
Okay, somebody's dear Donald you okay, so that's three oh
three two zero five fifty six hundred.
Speaker 11 (44:26):
That's correct.
Speaker 5 (44:28):
Hey, Rodney, you've never had this situation. Let me ask
you something. What would be some of the reasons a
dealer would have a car and not have the title.
I remember, going back to the days of Rockies Autos
and I did a lot of their commercials.
Speaker 4 (44:45):
I remember the owner.
Speaker 5 (44:46):
Said, Dave, he said, we do not sell a vehicle
unless we physically have title in house, physically have the title,
we will not sell a vehicle. And I was wondering, well,
why did he say that? In other words, is there
a way when you guys at a dealership buy a
(45:08):
car that you could sell it before a title is
issued or before the title works. You know what happens
when you acquire a car at auction, Rodney, do you
guys get the title right away?
Speaker 11 (45:21):
Not? Nine times out of.
Speaker 5 (45:22):
Ten, we will not.
Speaker 11 (45:24):
And the state gives us as a dealership that sixty days.
Hence why you have a sixty day temporary plate to
produce that title. Because the auctions cars are coming from
all over the country, and when those titles come in
there may be some problems. We had to send it back.
So it gives us the ability to allow the sixty
(45:46):
days to allow us to work through the problems, and
then if we're still having problems, we can get an extension.
So the state has an answer for us to get
these things taken care of.
Speaker 5 (45:59):
Okay, So he wants to start there and see what happens.
We were reading about a bonded title. What is a
bonded title used for Rodney?
Speaker 11 (46:14):
Yeah, Rodney bonded?
Speaker 6 (46:17):
Can you hear me?
Speaker 4 (46:18):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (46:18):
Now I can, yes, Okay.
Speaker 11 (46:22):
The bonded title is basically to protect the end user
and the dealership in case something doesn't happen the way
I'm supposed to happen. So it gives us a little
bit of an ability to protect.
Speaker 5 (46:37):
Well, what I mean is does the state does the
state issue a bonded title? Do you actually pay the
state for a bonded title and then that type that
bonded title protects you or I think Nick looked it
up here and he said that it's issued when things
like this.
Speaker 4 (46:56):
Arise to in case a claim comes up.
Speaker 11 (47:00):
All right, so it bonds and it protects that in
you there or the dealership until that that title gets right.
Speaker 5 (47:08):
Okay, then so and that number you gave us, we'll
probably know about that.
Speaker 11 (47:16):
Yeah, yeah, I'll give him all the answers because that
that board or that licensing board actually literally takes over
that dealership.
Speaker 4 (47:26):
As far okay concerned.
Speaker 5 (47:28):
Okay, all right, good, thank you very much, Rodney, We
appreciate it.

(49:30):
or porcelain porcelain stone, right is it is?
Speaker 4 (49:32):
How do you know?
Speaker 5 (49:34):
I don't want to sound ignorant, but how do they
get porcelain?
Speaker 4 (49:36):
Is it mined? What is it? What is it like?
Speaker 5 (49:38):
No, it's a baked product.
Speaker 14 (49:40):
So it's yeah, they baked the product and they're able
to do so.
Speaker 4 (49:43):
It's ground up.
Speaker 5 (49:44):
I mean it's it's a synthetic and it comes from
from rock and they make this porcelain, so it's kind
of like quartz, but it's made with.
Speaker 14 (49:54):
Porcelain correct correct, and we're able to have some of
the most incredible patterns on the product.
Speaker 5 (50:00):
They just look absolutely phenomenal.
Speaker 14 (50:01):
And so because we're able to go direct to the manufacturers,
it allows us to really have a product that can
be affordable for everybody to be able to have for
their shower walls.
Speaker 5 (50:13):
So porcelain was considered a major major upgrade for showers correct.
And now you're saying that you can probably that the
pricing is incredible.
Speaker 4 (50:23):
Let's just say that.
Speaker 5 (50:24):
I mean, you know, every job is different, but you're
saying that pricing is incredible, I mean is good.
Speaker 4 (50:31):
You can get really low prices.
Speaker 14 (50:33):
So to put in perspective, most solid stone products, like
a quartz or even a porcelain, the material was at
least a twelve mil thick, which is over a half
an inch thick, and that required that it be cut
on a laser CNC machine. With our product, now we're
able to fabricate on site, and this allows us to
(50:57):
save thousands of dollars where it just simply didn't before,
and then they can get the same look of that
real porcelain, and it is real porcelain. It's incredible, absolutely incredible. Yeah,
people should take a serious look at it before they.
Speaker 5 (51:10):
Now does that porcelain cover the whole wall or is
it tiled?
Speaker 4 (51:13):
Or how does it work?
Speaker 14 (51:14):
Solid sheets of panel that are approximately five and a
half feet wide by ninety six inches so you.
Speaker 5 (51:22):
Can almost always do it without seams everywhere? Right, and
then what do you do in the corners? We use
a high temp silicon. But it's it's a finished look correct.
Speaker 4 (51:33):
Yeah, and there's no maintenance required.
Speaker 5 (51:35):
Ever, there's no grout lines, nothing, none. No, that's the
beauty of it.
Speaker 14 (51:40):
You know, everyone's looking for something that that you know
isn't plastic, right, so so many of these companies out
here they sell plastic showers. Yeah, it looks and feels
that way. Yeah, this is an incredible stone product that
has an incredible appearance but also has a very affordable
price point.
Speaker 4 (51:59):
Okay, can you do walls with it?
Speaker 5 (52:01):
In the in the bathroom where backsplashes for the sink
or what are people using it for?
Speaker 4 (52:06):
Are they using it for vanities? How are they using it?
Speaker 14 (52:09):
So so you can cut them, You can cut the
material and put it pretty much anywhere. I mean, we
have bathrooms where we've wrapped the entire bathrooms where we
do wainstcoating, you know, generally up to about four feet tall.
Speaker 5 (52:20):
You can do.
Speaker 14 (52:21):
You can do countertops, whatever you like, fireplace, feature walls,
there's so many places that you can use is and
it's it's uh, you can put it in any temperature,
so it's not sensitive to ah to heat.
Speaker 4 (52:35):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (52:35):
So in any case, I always brag about you and
when I do your spots, and I say, you do
in a few days, only just a few days. It's
done hundred.
Speaker 14 (52:44):
Percent, and and it can be done as fast as
any other product out there today. Two years ago, not
so much, but today absolutely.
Speaker 4 (52:54):
So what's changed?
Speaker 5 (52:54):
You're saying that you do more of the fabricating on site,
or not fibricating, but customizing.
Speaker 14 (53:00):
We do all of the fabricating on site today, all
of it.
Speaker 4 (53:03):
Like what does that mean?
Speaker 5 (53:04):
I mean all of the fact you get the giant
sheet and cut it down to what you need.
Speaker 14 (53:08):
Correct, So before you would have to cut these right
in the san seamish Yeah, but it had to be
laser measured.
Speaker 5 (53:14):
Why can you do it on site now? What is the.
Speaker 14 (53:17):
Difference the equipment to cut the thickness of the product.
It's no longer that thick twelve mil product that we
used to have to put in.
Speaker 4 (53:25):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (53:26):
And when you say you're a direct stone importer, you
truly direct right from the manufacturer direct manufacturer one. Okay, Yeah,
that's why.
Speaker 14 (53:34):
And that also helps us get us to the price
point that keeps us very relevant in the in the industry.
Speaker 5 (53:41):
Someone texted in ass is it available in pastel type
colors or is it only earthy colors? There are probably
fifty different patterns. Well what about colors? Do they have
any passive like like pinks or greens?
Speaker 14 (53:55):
Or they absolutely have they multitude of colors. And if
they reach out to us, we can walk him down
that path.
Speaker 5 (54:01):
All right. And by the way, uh, you know he's
going to be here for the duration of the show.
If you want to text us, you can text us
at seven four seven nine nine nine fifty two eighty.
That's seven two seven nine nine nine fifty two eighty,
or you can call three oh three seven one three
talk three oh three seven one three eight two five five.
Speaker 4 (54:23):
By the way, uh, in New York City. I just
want to mention this real quick.
Speaker 6 (54:30):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (54:30):
The mayor in New York City, the Communist self avout
Communists mayor Uh Mom Donnie says they will now start
taking buildings from landlords who neglect their buildings, and they
will start taking them over and be owned by the
government or by a nonprofit. And uh, what is a
(54:54):
landlord that's neglectful? Someone who doesn't upkeep the building, someone
who does and provide the basic needs for tenants. They're saying,
or it's warranty of habitability. And many of the landlords
are saying, you're tying our hands. We can't raise rents,
so how do we make the improvements? And also you've
(55:16):
taken over how we lease these things, how we maintain
our buildings, how much we can charge on our buildings,
And then you call us neglectful and you take over.
And by the way, this is not the only city
that's considering this. There is a move around the country.
(55:36):
It's rather than starting big and going small like the
large offices like senators and congressmen, and that they're starting
small with city council. There are many many communist city
council people around the country.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
Many and there are many.
Speaker 5 (55:53):
People who are running for mayor that are self avowed communists.
Speaker 4 (55:58):
And someone once told me, and again, I you know
I should say this.
Speaker 5 (56:04):
I don't know enough about I just know that communist
has failed wherever it's we've had communism.
Speaker 4 (56:10):
But I think here's what we're having right now.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
I think that we are mistaking greed and politics of
greed for pure capitalism. We're blaming capitalism that even the
word has almost become like a bad word. We're blaming
profit and capitalism for greed. And there are some greedy
(56:39):
people involved in capitalism and involved in business, no doubt,
there are also many good people working their asses off
to try to make a living. But because we have
or not, we but mainly progressives, have leaned toward saying that.
Speaker 4 (57:01):
Profit and capitalism is bad.
Speaker 5 (57:04):
You have many, many people now reaching out for alternatives,
and communism looks very, very attractive. And I remember in
high school when there were people saying the way communists
will take over this country will not be with a gun,
and it will not be with war.
Speaker 4 (57:24):
It'll be from the inside out.
Speaker 5 (57:27):
And if you look right now at what's happening in
this country, communism and I'm not saying it should be
a bad word but it's no longer a bad word.
Communism is being viewed as a viable alternative to capitalism.
It is, and it's just a matter of fact. Many
(57:48):
of them happen to be Democrats. Now, I'm not sitting
here preaching like other talk shows.
Speaker 4 (57:53):
Oh you better beware.
Speaker 5 (57:55):
All I'm saying is, don't fall asleep, because this is
how happening in your own community. We have communists in
our own community in office right now and their self
about communists, and we have socialists. Now is that the
way to go? There are people. I just had a
text from a guy who says that I'm always, you know,
(58:18):
talking against progressives and the left, and I'm not.
Speaker 4 (58:21):
By the way, I'm not.
Speaker 5 (58:23):
I think conservatively economically, I'm conservative. I don't care about
the politics of people's.
Speaker 4 (58:29):
Lives, by the way. I don't want to rule people's lives.
Speaker 5 (58:33):
I love everyone, and I think everyone has a right
to exist and the way they want. Period. Okay. I
don't want to get into each every detail because it
doesn't matter. What do you care what I think? Right,
I'm not going to tell you how to think. But
when it comes to communism, has is it the time
now for communism? I'm serious. If you're a Democrat, if
(58:54):
you're progressive, do you like the move or the trend
of your party right now to move toward communism. Again,
we're not talking necessarily about any particular brand of communism,
but the concept of communism is.
Speaker 4 (59:11):
We can do it better together.
Speaker 5 (59:13):
We can do it better together as a government, because
that when you leave it in the hands of corporation
and individuals, there's too much greed and there is no
there is no common good. There is no common good.
The only way to get common good is to have
(59:34):
people involved in it, and people involved in their own destiny,
which they define as communism. So that's what did you
want to say something?
Speaker 16 (59:46):
Well, Tom, now that you ask, you know, we should
one could add something to you or to what you
just said, which is, you know, communism, and actually it's
take a step back socialism, which is what these people are.
Speaker 4 (59:57):
That is a.
Speaker 16 (59:58):
Satanic Satan Tenet concept. Socialism has murdered more people than
any disease, any famine, any international war. Look at what
happened in Russia, look at what happened in People are.
Speaker 5 (01:00:12):
Saying that in people are saying that you're mistaking the
form of government for the form of economy. They're talking
more or less communism as an economic system. Well, of
course it is an economic system.
Speaker 16 (01:00:23):
But look at what the socialists and communists do when
they come to power. There is a wholesale murder of
their own citizens. Communists and socialism and leftists in general
have never, not once in human history tom been able
to live in peace alongside normal people.
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
It always devolves into violence, and we're already seeing it is.
Speaker 16 (01:00:44):
Look at all the left wing violence over the past
few years here in the United States.
Speaker 5 (01:00:48):
Anyway, we have an issue with a granite company with Derek,
and I want to take this break first. Can you
ask Derek acts specifically, ask him to hold on.
Speaker 4 (01:00:58):
I'll take him.
Speaker 5 (01:00:59):
First up because we're talking about a granite company. People,
I'd love to hear your thoughts. I really mean this.
I'm not doing this as a political talk show. I'm
asking you, are you fed up with? This? Is what
this is? And I hate to say the left, Okay,
I hate to say even Democrats or progressives, but.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
Let's just say brand X.
Speaker 5 (01:01:20):
Let's say, because we have brand A Republicans, Brand B,
let's say Democrats and Brand X. This new faction in
the country that way. We're not unfairly painting all Democrats
or all progressives with this brush, okay, because I don't
want to say they're all this way.
Speaker 4 (01:01:38):
So let's call it brand X.
Speaker 5 (01:01:40):
Do you think brand X this socialist, communist kind of mentality?
Speaker 4 (01:01:47):
Time has come?
Speaker 5 (01:01:49):
Because brand X demonizes, demonizes financial success.
Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
And profit and corporations.
Speaker 5 (01:01:59):
They are demonized, and they automatically assume, automatically assume that
if you are a billionaire, you are evil. It's automatic.
Everyone talks against billionaires, billionaires, billionaires and corporations. Now, I'm
not gonna sit here and tell you they're all wonderful.
I'm just asking you a question. I'm honest to God,
(01:02:22):
want to know. Do you feel brand X the time
has come to look at a more communist or socialist
way of life, because that is the vibe I'm getting
in the media right now that there are large factions
of people, many of them are going to the Democratic Party,
but I believe some of them are even too.
Speaker 4 (01:02:44):
Radical for the Democratic Party.
Speaker 5 (01:02:46):
And they're doing it in small communities or excuse me,
small municipalities. First, they don't go from the federal government down.
They're going from the grassroots city councils are being taken
over by communists, are being taken over by communism, and
then some of the local congressmen maybe communist, and then
(01:03:08):
what they plan to do, I think is eventually morph
into communism. I don't think they're looking for a revolution.
I truly believe that we are moving toward a communist country,
and it's going to be done voluntarily with people that
you know saying, do come on. It's the only way
to go. You know, it's the only way to save
(01:03:30):
our planet. It's the only way to save our economy.
It's the only way to do away with the evil
of greed. That is how it's being sold. We have
more coming right up. Go with a sure thing Denver's

Hi Tom Martine here three O three seven one three
talk seven one three eight two five five one text
one Texture says, I do believe that communism's time has come,
and you try to make it sound evil when it's not.
It is simply a way that we can all benefit
(01:04:40):
from our common good. This is a I'm telling you
we're not talking about a revolution here. I am telling
you that people right now are being indoctrinated by Democratic
Socialists of America. It's DSA that com woman ownership or
(01:05:01):
control is best, and that wealth should be taken out
of the hands of the few. It is an absolute
way that they're going to take over now. I'm not
saying they're going to succeed, but it's happening in fact
right now in cities right now, in cities like New York, California, Chicago, Seattle,
(01:05:23):
there are all kinds of people holding offices that are
endorsed or members of DSA, Democrats, Democratic Socialists of America
and in fact, Bernie Sanders, AOC, Rashida talib and.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
Iha Ilhan and Omar are all part of this.
Speaker 5 (01:05:43):
So it's happening right before our eyes, So it's not
if it's going to happen, how long will it take
to happen?
Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
And will there be pushback?
Speaker 5 (01:05:51):
Three? Three seven, one three eight two five five Derek?
What's going on with you? Derek?
Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
How can we help you? Hey man? What's going on?
Speaker 13 (01:05:59):
Thank you for taking my call. I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
Yes, sir, Yes, sir, what's going on?
Speaker 13 (01:06:02):
I'm having trouble with a Granite World of Colorado?
Speaker 4 (01:06:06):
Okay, what's going on with them?
Speaker 5 (01:06:09):
So?
Speaker 13 (01:06:10):
I needed some vanity tops installed in my home and
my bathrooms. I have two bethrooms, and because the surface
area was so small, they only were able to offer
me remnants. And so the guy out to measure and
he got all the measurements wrong. Kind of a long
(01:06:30):
story short, but they came out with the two vanities
to install them, and one of them had the wrong
size sink.
Speaker 5 (01:06:37):
Okay.
Speaker 13 (01:06:38):
So so to back up a little bit, when he
after he came out to measure, he apparently he never
measured for the faucets.
Speaker 5 (01:06:49):
Okay.
Speaker 13 (01:06:49):
So they reached out to me about a week after
he came out. I sent them drawings of the faucets
that I had.
Speaker 5 (01:06:56):
Rather than going Rather than going blow by blow on
on how terrible they were. Where does the stand today
on this issue? Like how much you paid? How much
has been done, and what still has to do? I
want to know where we can help you. In other words,
how much was the whole job contracted for?
Speaker 13 (01:07:13):
So it was about fifteen hundred dollars. I've paid them
like seven ninety eight.
Speaker 5 (01:07:18):
So only fifteen hundred. That's the entire job.
Speaker 13 (01:07:22):
Entire job, fifteen hundred dollars.
Speaker 5 (01:07:24):
Okay, all right? And for that how much has been
done so far?
Speaker 13 (01:07:30):
They did it all. However, one of the countertops has
scratches in it, and I didn't notice it until a
couple of days after they came out for the install. Yeah,
so because they were coming back in a couple of
days with the new countertop, because it was wrong, Yeah,
I decided just to wait and I'd let the technician
(01:07:50):
know when he got there that it had scratches and
maybe he could repair it. Okay, Well, now they're saying
because I waited the two days pass that they're not
going to do anything about it, and they want their money.
Speaker 5 (01:08:04):
Okay, you haven't paid anything so far, or you said
you did make a deposit, right?
Speaker 13 (01:08:08):
I paid eight hundred of the fifty.
Speaker 4 (01:08:10):
Okay, got it? Okay, you paid it. Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:08:13):
So right now you're saying there are scratches, Hey, Nick,
by the way, you do countertops right with renew home
innovations of course. All right, so with countertops, how did
they get scratches in them? Is it just in the
installation process or what? Well, I mean courts. Will it
scratch when you're putting it? Yeah, it can scratch.
Speaker 14 (01:08:31):
I mean it's it's not common, but usually it's what
you are using on it, maybe the type of material
using to clean it.
Speaker 5 (01:08:40):
But yeah, that's what I want to know, Derek, Like,
what how deep are these scratches? If you go over
it with your fingernail, can you feel those scratches?
Speaker 13 (01:08:48):
They're very minor, and I'm told they can be kind
of polished out because they're so okay, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:08:54):
And you were saying that too.
Speaker 5 (01:08:55):
I saw you hand motioning a wait waite second, can
you Nick? Can you polish those out or rub them out?
Speaker 3 (01:09:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 14 (01:09:02):
You probably can definitely have someone come out and put
a resurfacing on the material, but it's highly recommended that
you don't use anything abrasive on any of those stone surfaces.
Speaker 5 (01:09:13):
Vinegar and water. Just simple, all right?
Speaker 4 (01:09:15):
Did they were?
Speaker 5 (01:09:16):
They willing to try to get it out, and now
they won't because you delayed payment.
Speaker 13 (01:09:22):
Noment telling them about it? Do it because I waited
more than twenty four hours to tell them?
Speaker 4 (01:09:29):
Oh it's the reporting.
Speaker 5 (01:09:31):

you to tell them within a certain amount of time? Okay,

Speaker 13 (01:10:40):
Yeah, that was the bottom line. And then when I
talked to them today they said also in addition, they
don't cover scratches. But it says nothing about that.
Speaker 5 (01:10:49):
What do you mean they don't cover scratches. Are they
accusing you of doing the scratches?
Speaker 13 (01:10:54):
They never accused me, but they just said they don't

Okay, yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
No, Tom Martino. Hey, I'm Tom Martina.
Speaker 5 (01:12:56):
Welcome to the only show that it is kind of
anywhere in the universe.
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
No, I'm serious when I say that I'm.
Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
So grateful that I have this show and that I'm
here and that, by the grace of God, I was
cured at least so far they say I'm cured of
pancreatic cancer. And the reason I'm bringing this up we
need to know what to do to make cancer screening
a regular, annual physical event. We should insurance should pay
(01:13:24):
for a wellness visit once a year with blood work
and cancer screening, with imaging and consultation for your health
just yearly, and we would cut down on so much death.
But I think the health insurance companies have done the
math and here's what they're thinking. Even though like in
(01:13:47):
my case, for example, they could you know, it was
over a million dollars in healthcare, over a million dollars
on my case.
Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
Now, think about this. If you have cancer and they
catch it.
Speaker 5 (01:14:00):
Early, you will have a lot of medical bills to
try to eradicate it. Right.
Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
If you catch it later, you will have less bills
and you will die sooner.
Speaker 5 (01:14:12):
So it really helps health insurance companies to delay detection
and treatment of cancer because the longer they delay, the
more likely there is that you will die from it,
and they won't have to keep paying and paying and
paying as with early detection, it actually would increase their
(01:14:35):
case costs because while you would have more minor cases,
there would be more of them. So I'm sure they've
done the math and they said, you know what, it's
better waiting for them to find it themselves incidental findings,
and because they're more likely going to die from it
(01:14:56):
sooner than later. Where it start meaning early, we're gonna
have a bunch of treatments to cover. It's the math.
And as I said, health insurance is the only business
where you must do less to get more. In order
for them to be successful, they must do less. That's
(01:15:19):
the only way health insurance can be successful. Think about that,
to do less for their policyholders. I want to go
to a Joy who has a question on mold. Joy,
welcome to the show. What's going on with you?
Speaker 13 (01:15:40):
Over years?
Speaker 12 (01:15:41):
Been mold led you in the past?
Speaker 5 (01:15:43):
Okay, hold on, no, okay, you're okay, you're starting now
starting to hear you find before you were breaking up,
you said something about Parker.
Speaker 12 (01:15:53):
No I live in Colorado, sting.
Speaker 4 (01:15:55):
Okay, got it all right?
Speaker 12 (01:15:58):
For over a year.
Speaker 5 (01:16:04):
Okay, do me a favor, acts, do me a favor.
Hop on that line, please call her right back. Let's
get her on. It's a serious question about mold. Okay, Ariel,
let's talk about your RV. What's going on?
Speaker 4 (01:16:17):
Ariel?
Speaker 10 (01:16:20):
Hi, Tom, this is Ariel. I know yeah here in Colorado.
Speaker 13 (01:16:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:16:25):
I was just calling because I had some I've had
some issues with Camping World up in Long Mint and.
Speaker 5 (01:16:31):
You know that's awest. No no, no, no, no, no.
I hear Camping World has done a lot better. Why
did you say that, Bo? Why did you say?
Speaker 15 (01:16:40):
I'll tell you why, because I have worked three cases
and they've been disastrous. But I will give you this
really the last case that the.
Speaker 17 (01:16:48):
Manager in Caloro Springs did come through and take care
of a camping issue.
Speaker 4 (01:16:52):
But in Burial tell us about the problem.
Speaker 10 (01:16:55):
Sure, yeah, absolutely so inically, I I went in there
to look at a camper back in January because my
house had flooded and my family didn't have anywhere to live,
and so I was kind of in a jam. I
told them that, you know what we needed, fully transparent
with my situation, what I needed to pull it with,
and we got out the door with a sixteen thousand
(01:17:17):
dollars RV that turned into twenty three thousand.
Speaker 5 (01:17:20):
That's just now, how did it turn into that you
bought what kind of a camper? Is it a fifth wheel?
What kind of camper is it?
Speaker 10 (01:17:28):
It's a toe behind a wildwood FX. So it's a
tell the hed hit with a slide on the side, okay.
And I went in there with a Honda pilot saying like,
this is what I have to pull it with. I
need to find something that I can do this with.
And I was told I could do that, and then
I find out that I can't, and like, that's my bad.
I'm working on that on my back end. So not
even common at them.
Speaker 5 (01:17:48):
Wait a minute, Wait a minute, you actually wait wait
you actually said here's my vehicle and they matched you
with this camper, and so that's some responsibility. Are they
denying that they told you that? What are they saying
saying about that?
Speaker 10 (01:18:01):
Oh yeah, I didn't even I didn't actually even approach
them with that. I said, I figured that was okay, this,
I'll chop that up to mean not educating myself.
Speaker 5 (01:18:09):
Right, So you bought a camper. When did you buy
this camper?
Speaker 10 (01:18:14):
That was in December? And so like a week okater,
I called them. A week later, I called them because
I got it home and went to live in it
with my family. And it's cold in Colorado.
Speaker 6 (01:18:24):
You know, you need the.
Speaker 10 (01:18:25):
Heat, and there's no electricity. It doesn't work. And I
called them and they said, well, too bad, you like
bought it. It's yours.
Speaker 5 (01:18:32):
Good luck.
Speaker 4 (01:18:34):
Well, hold on, you do have a warranty, don't you?
Speaker 10 (01:18:38):
I would think so, absolutely right?
Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
I well, well, what do you mean hold on?
Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
When you called him and said when you called him
and said you have no heat, they didn't say, oh,
well is your problem? What did they say?
Speaker 6 (01:18:52):
Yes?
Speaker 10 (01:18:53):
They absolutely said, you bought the camper and I have
I'm assuming a thirty day warranty, right, And well.
Speaker 5 (01:19:00):
Well, why are you assuming? First of all, hold on,
hold on one thing at a time, one thing at
a time. Why are you assuming a thirty day warranty?
Speaker 4 (01:19:10):
What did you mean by that?
Speaker 10 (01:19:12):
I would just assume, like anything that you buy, especially
spending that much money, there would be some kind of warranty.
I'm getting my paper.
Speaker 4 (01:19:19):
Well that's not automatic, by the way, Ariel, is this
new or use this RV?
Speaker 10 (01:19:25):
This is a used RV.
Speaker 5 (01:19:27):
Okay, that's why. Okay, so you bought a used camper.
That's a big deal because you were supposed to have
that checked out before you bought it. They're probably saying,
you bought it as is and it doesn't have a warranty.
Speaker 4 (01:19:40):
Is that what they're saying.
Speaker 10 (01:19:44):
I would say probably that's what they're saying.
Speaker 5 (01:19:46):
Then, yes, well on your contract, does it say as is?
Speaker 10 (01:19:51):
Let me get my contract?
Speaker 5 (01:19:53):
Yeah, I just want to right up front, it's just
say as is. And does it say you have any.
Speaker 4 (01:19:59):
Kind of warranty at all? Does it?
Speaker 5 (01:20:01):
And you don't have to read every word, but does
it make mention of any kind of a warranty?
Speaker 10 (01:20:07):
And that and this is why I like, I need
to get my paperwork here, let me find it.
Speaker 4 (01:20:13):
Yeah, we'll give you.
Speaker 5 (01:20:14):
Time, Aeriel. But but but when they said, you know,
you bought it, it's your problem, what did you do then?
Speaker 10 (01:20:22):
So then I, you know, waited some time. I'm trying to,
as you know, a disabled mom, trying to save up
money to have somebody come out and tell me, like, okay,
what is really going on with it? It is something that
I can fix.
Speaker 6 (01:20:34):
I need to do.
Speaker 10 (01:20:35):
I got through The Winner. I got through The Winner,
and I was like.
Speaker 5 (01:20:39):
I, well, what was wrong? What was wrong with the heat?
Speaker 4 (01:20:42):
What was wrong with the heat.
Speaker 10 (01:20:43):
So there's there's a problem with the twelve side electric electrically,
there's a there's an electrical problem on the twelve both side,
there's a draw. So like when I called back, when
I called back just a week ago, don't it's been
of a month now. I called back because they didn't
ever get me the blind that were supposed to come.
And we're baking in here now in the summer. And
I told the parts manager. They're like, what had happened?
(01:21:05):
And he said, this is ridiculous, like somebody should have
helped you. You called back right away, like that doesn't
seem right. Let me see what I can do. And
I was like, oh my gosh, you're listening to me, like,
thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (01:21:15):
Hold on, Ariel, there's a few things I know. I
want to hear your story. I want to hear every
bit of it, but I need to know this. When
you bought it, it did not have blinds in there
or shades, and it was promised to you or what correct?
Speaker 10 (01:21:29):
Correct? He has two of the big bay window doesn't
have it's like a paper temporary blind.
Speaker 5 (01:21:35):
Right, And were you in the contract did it say
they were going to give you the blinds.
Speaker 10 (01:21:42):
Vince the salesman, verbally told us that we would get
the blinds and we have the OEM form that they
said like the parts managers like, oh do you have
that formers? Look, let me get it because I know
I do have it, and he filled out the top
and Vince never filled out the order form, so it
was never ordered.
Speaker 5 (01:21:57):
But if they say this when we call them and
say why aren't you getting the window coverings for Ariel?
Speaker 4 (01:22:04):
What if they say what if they say, well, she
bought it?
Speaker 10 (01:22:08):
Got them to me. Okay, that's the thing is that
I talked to you.
Speaker 5 (01:22:13):
Then what are you calling about today?
Speaker 4 (01:22:15):
What are you calling about today?
Speaker 10 (01:22:18):
I'm calling because I had called. I called them about
the blinds and then this he finally said, okay, let
me let me see what I can do. I called
them on Monday for an update, saying, hey, can.
Speaker 4 (01:22:27):
I see Yeah, but that's already that's already done.
Speaker 5 (01:22:29):
I need to know what the problem is and and Ariel,
we want to help you, but we have to hear
what is going on today?
Speaker 4 (01:22:36):
What's wrong?
Speaker 10 (01:22:37):
The just the electrical If anybody could have just reached
out to me and verbally said, hey, I hear what's
going on? Let me somebody said they they could do
something for me. Let me see what I could do,
and then they go through it.
Speaker 5 (01:22:49):
Okay, nobody's okay, got it, you got it. I don't
blame you for being frustrated at all. I don't blame you.
Here's what I need to know. Who told you you
had a problem with the twelve L side?
Speaker 4 (01:23:02):
Who told you that.
Speaker 10 (01:23:04):
My husband is an h VAC He did the me read.
Speaker 5 (01:23:10):
And you read on it, and he said, there's a drain,
there's a there's a draw, which means that if you're
not hooked up, you're going to have a dead battery.
Speaker 10 (01:23:20):
You can't do it. Yes, And so I've had two dead.
Speaker 5 (01:23:23):
Batteries, and don't you have don't you have a master
switch on those?
Speaker 10 (01:23:29):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:23:31):
And you can't turn the master switch off?
Speaker 11 (01:23:33):
Or what.
Speaker 10 (01:23:35):
I can? I? I? Yes, I can hook up when
I get to an RV place that has a any
kind of plug. But okay, I'm kind of living off
the land.
Speaker 5 (01:23:45):
So you're kind of dry camping in this thing and
it keeps going.
Speaker 4 (01:23:49):
Dead right right?
Speaker 10 (01:23:50):
Correct?
Speaker 5 (01:23:51):
Yes? Okay, do you have a generator that charges the battery?
Speaker 10 (01:23:56):
That's my next But like one step at a time.
Speaker 5 (01:23:59):
Yes, okay, but Ariel, you gotta hold on. Ariel, I
think you've gone into this unfortunately. I want to explain
some stuff to you about dry camping and RVs, so
please hang on.

about this thing, this RV thing, Ariel. I want to
explain something to you real quick. I've been in RV's,
in them for years and years. I don't have any
(01:25:54):
right now, but here's the bottom line. Okay, when you
buy an RV and you're going to dry camp, your
battery will always eventually go dead.
Speaker 4 (01:26:02):
Right, So what was your plan? Did you? Did you
plug into you?
Speaker 5 (01:26:07):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (01:26:08):
And however.
Speaker 5 (01:26:11):
Go ahead that I've.
Speaker 10 (01:26:12):
Viewed with how there are views. The biggest concern would
be that it worked there. They showed me that everything
worked with it plugged in, and before we left, and
when I got home it didn't, And I said, I
need your help, and nobody asks me.
Speaker 4 (01:26:33):
I get it, Oh, Ragel, I think I think it
is too.
Speaker 5 (01:26:37):
Okay, I'm with you on that. However, unfortunately, unfortunately they're
treating you as a strict transaction, meaning this you bought
something as is.
Speaker 4 (01:26:47):
Now it's your problem, lady, I get it, Ariel.
Speaker 5 (01:26:50):
I'm saying, but but, but what I want to tell
you is this, to be fair, I don't like Camping World,
especially after Bow told me that.
Speaker 4 (01:26:58):
I don't like the way they been acting. But here's
the deal.
Speaker 5 (01:27:01):
Okay, really and truly, you really, truly did buy a
used camper as is, and under the strictest letter of
the law, they don't have to do anything for you,
unless unless they somehow lied to you on purpose and
deceived you with fraud. But to try to prove fraud
(01:27:25):
is not even worth it. Let's just get the problem fixed.
So the next thing is this, with this thing, if
it keeps going dead and it works when it's charged,
that is simply the way it is. In other words,
different twelve volt campers. It's not unusual to have a
(01:27:45):
parasitic draw for electronics and things. I don't know how
much of a draw it is, but normally it was said.
Speaker 10 (01:27:53):
When we got home, like they said, it had a
brand new battery and it was dead when we got
it home.
Speaker 4 (01:27:59):
Okay, did you have anyone?
Speaker 5 (01:28:02):
Did you have anyone actually analyze it as to why
it is dead when it got home?
Speaker 10 (01:28:09):
It could just this is my next step. Honestly, I
think it's going.
Speaker 4 (01:28:14):
To be Ariel.
Speaker 5 (01:28:15):
I don't see. Here's what you're calling about. You're calling
about a twelve volt system that goes dead, and all
twelve olt systems without being recharged will go dead.
Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
So I don't know exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:28:28):
While we're on your side, I don't know what we're
what we're calling about. You don't like the idea that
they that they ghosted you.
Speaker 4 (01:28:36):
I get that, But the bottom.
Speaker 5 (01:28:38):
Line is now you have an RV and if you
leave the batteries on, if you leave the master switch on,
you will have dead batteries. It's normal. And now some
have better batteries than others. How many twelve what's that?
Speaker 9 (01:28:55):
I said?
Speaker 10 (01:28:56):
We just don't use it. We don't use the battery
I've been plugged into.
Speaker 5 (01:29:00):
Okay, here's what I want to ask. Here's what I
want to ask. When you are towing your camper towing it?
Is there a way so.
Speaker 10 (01:29:11):
I can't tell?
Speaker 5 (01:29:12):
All right?
Speaker 10 (01:29:13):
Remember, because I couldn't use the Honda, so I had
to sell that, and I'm sure, Ariel.
Speaker 5 (01:29:18):
I'm trying to ask you a straight question. Ariel, you're
very difficult to communicate with. I'm trying to ask some
basic questions. I don't need a lot of background right now.
If you truly need our help, I have some basic questions.
Speaker 4 (01:29:31):
Is there an on and off master switch?
Speaker 6 (01:29:36):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:29:37):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (01:29:38):
Do how do you you you're supposed to turn off
the master switch unless you're camping. Okay, Now, okay, if
you turn your master switch on and off when needed,
you will eventually have the battery still go dead unless
you have a recharging system.
Speaker 4 (01:29:58):
So I want to ask something.
Speaker 5 (01:29:59):
Is it's set up for when you plug it in
and tow it?
Speaker 4 (01:30:03):
Is it set up to charge that twelve volt battery?
Do you know?
Speaker 10 (01:30:08):
Oh? I haven't towed it, so I don't know yet.
Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
Okay, gotcha?
Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
Gotcha? How many twelve volte on the twelve volt side?
How many batteries do you have? Okay, here's here's what
I think is going on. Okay, it might be more
than normal parasitic drag. It might be it might be normal.
I don't know if it's normal or not. But what
you're describing is not unusual for this trailer to have
(01:30:40):
a parasitic drag. Now, when you say the twelve volt side,
do you have a twenty four volt side too?
Speaker 10 (01:30:48):
Correct? Yes, there's there's the regular this the DC side
on the eight side.
Speaker 5 (01:30:54):
Right, Oh, I got it, so the DC side, nevermind,
I misspoke. The DC side it is twelve volts and
when you plug it in you have wont one ten
like a normal house. Right, Okay, when the when you're
on the twelve volt only side, what will it run
on that one twelve volt battery?
Speaker 10 (01:31:16):
I haven't been able to run anything because, like I said,
when I got back, the battery is dead. And then
I put another one in and it started drawing and
I didn't want to ruin another battery, so I just aerial.
Speaker 5 (01:31:25):
It's completely normal. What you're describing is completely normal. You
have a twelve volt system and it's not meant.
Speaker 4 (01:31:33):
It's not meant to live off it. Now, I'm serious.
Speaker 5 (01:31:36):
What you're describing as normal, That camper is meant to be.
It's either meant to be hooked up, or it's meant
to be on or it's meant to be on a
generator or the twelve volt battery is only for very
little use. It's not meant to be used like that,
so the fact that it died is not unusual.
Speaker 4 (01:31:57):
I listen as I said, I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:32:00):
I can't call Camping World now and say, by the way,
you sold this woman a use RV and it's defective
because the twelve volte battery keeps going dead, because it's
normal that. I think you got the misimpression that you
could live off of that twelve volte battery and you can.
Speaker 10 (01:32:18):
Oh no, it's no, I know, vote I'm not. I'm
not a complete idiot, thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:32:23):
No, no, no, I just be because you were, but
you were baffled. But what we have to figure out?
Put her on hold, please, here's the bottom line. Here's
what we have to figure out. This is all we
have to figure out. Is the twelve volt parasitic drag
normal or not? That's it. That's it. She's got one problem, folks.
(01:32:46):
I hope you're listening. If you're in business, you've just
heard a woman here who has a legitimate problem. Maybe
maybe not. But it's ten times bigger than it should be.
Why is it ten times bigger than it should be?
Do I have any guesses. Why do you think, Nick,
why do you think the twelve vote battery problem is
(01:33:07):
ten times bigger than it should be? Why do you think, Dmitri,
why do you think it's ten times bigger?
Speaker 17 (01:33:11):
I think it's bigger. She doesn't understand how the battery works.
Speaker 5 (01:33:14):
No, I'm going to tell you why it's bigger. Because
they ghosted her in the beginning.
Speaker 17 (01:33:18):
Yes, they didn't explain the operations.
Speaker 5 (01:33:20):
That's right, That's exactly right. I think she was very upset.
She's driving her camper home. Probably the switch is on,
it has a parasitic drag. By the time she gets home,
the twelve vote battery is dead. Okay, not unusual. Maybe
it went dead a little quicker than it should who knows.
But then she calls and they basically say, what do
(01:33:42):
you want us to do?
Speaker 4 (01:33:43):
Your twelve vote battery is dead?
Speaker 5 (01:33:44):
Charge it, you know, I'm sure they said something like that.
So she was upset from the beginning, and because she
was upset from the beginning, anything that went on after
that took on an amplification of more than it was.
So she kept saying, you know, the main problem she
had was her twelve vote battery keeps going dead, and
(01:34:05):
it will continually keep going dead. Twelve vote batteries as
crazy as this sound, are not meant to be used
full time in an RV. They're not even meant to
be used part time. They're meant to be used just
to keep some electronics alive and stuff like that. They're
supposed to be actively charged, either by a generator or
(01:34:28):
by the vehicle when you plug in. So what we
have to do for Ariel is find a place that
can do a parasitic test.
Speaker 15 (01:34:36):
I have a suggestion Ariels should just take her camper
down to Uncle Kevin to shirt and I I.
Speaker 4 (01:34:42):
Don't think he would do it.
Speaker 5 (01:34:43):
And I'll tell you why. I don't think he would
do it because it gets into two because then he
has to start hunting the systems, and I know he's
not going to want to get involved.
Speaker 4 (01:34:53):
I know he's not.
Speaker 5 (01:34:54):
But she has to find someone who can give her
an electronic or electric diagnosis as to why she has
a parasitic drag.
Speaker 4 (01:35:02):
But I want to make this clear.
Speaker 5 (01:35:04):
Parasitic drags meaning that the battery being used when the
RV is not in use is not unusual. It is
not unusual. It happens there are some RVs you must
either keep off completely or keep on a trickle charge
all the time. I think it surprised her that her
(01:35:28):
twelve volt battery is basically useless, and so that's where
itil That's what it boils down to. It doesn't make
the entire camper useless. It just doesn't.
Speaker 4 (01:35:41):
So I don't even Tom.
Speaker 15 (01:35:43):
She could upgrade to a lithium battery. They did last
twice as long, and it you can get four thousand
cycles out of you.
Speaker 4 (01:35:50):
Know what, That might be a good idea. It's done
again again.
Speaker 5 (01:35:55):
I still did not figure out what she was complaining about.
She's talking about battery keeps going dead. The battery will
when you're plugged in. It shouldn't go dead. There should
be a way that it charges. If not, then you
need to hook up a twelve vault charger. So when
you're plugged in the twelve vaults, you're plug into an
(01:36:16):
outlet with a charger and trickle charge that twelve volt.
Speaker 17 (01:36:20):
Tom, do you think a solar sal would do it?
Speaker 4 (01:36:22):
A couple of sols.
Speaker 5 (01:36:23):
That's why she's well, she says she has it, but
they're not going to necessarily keep up with the drag
solar is a very very inefficient way to recharge your batteries.
Speaker 4 (01:36:35):
For the way she's using it, she's living in it.
Speaker 5 (01:36:39):
So she's using it the way it wasn't meant to
be used.
Speaker 4 (01:36:43):
I don't know what else to say.
Speaker 15 (01:36:44):
If one of our listeners could call in and maybe
it lives in her area, could go over there with a.
Speaker 17 (01:36:49):
Vom meter and check their draw on the battery and see.
Speaker 4 (01:36:53):
If her husband checked it.
Speaker 5 (01:36:54):
So find out, Bo, Well, why don't you talk to
her husband and see what the drag was, find out
how many amps it was drawn.
Speaker 15 (01:37:03):
It would be very simple to find out about the
drag and correct a short.
Speaker 5 (01:37:09):
Right, if there is a short, I begins right and
ask Kevin if he knows anyone who might be able.
Speaker 4 (01:37:15):
To do that.
Speaker 17 (01:37:15):
Upgrade it to a lithium battery.
Speaker 5 (01:37:17):
Yeah, they're like.
Speaker 17 (01:37:18):
Five hundred bucks, but they last forever.
Speaker 5 (01:37:20):
And I'm sorry, Ariel, she's not gonna, you know, get
satisfaction from Camping World. They're just as you said, Bo,

Speaker 5 (01:38:49):
She has a question about Mold and again, I hope
Ariel does what we say and she gets that worked out.
Matt Ax, did you tell her we needed to find
a place for her to get that parasitic drag analyzed
on her RV, because really, without knowing if it's excessive
or not, there's not much we can do. I hope
(01:39:09):
you told her we wanted to help.
Speaker 17 (01:39:12):
I'm going to call her Tom and get her.
Speaker 5 (01:39:13):
Oh good, I'm going to fix it. Good.
Speaker 4 (01:39:15):
Bo appreciate that very much. Joy.
Speaker 5 (01:39:19):
You have a question about mold or a concern. What's
going on with you?
Speaker 4 (01:39:22):
Joy?
Speaker 12 (01:39:24):
By Tom Hi Joy, I lived in col Road Spring.
There has been mold or missed you in my bathroom
for over a year. I have reported it. They put
me off in dealing with it, and then there's a
ceiling lak.
Speaker 4 (01:39:39):
Okay, you know what I think.
Speaker 5 (01:39:40):
I think landlords don't know how to deal with mold.
That scares the hell out of them, so they ignore it.
And it's not going to go away if they ignore it.
It's you know, it's not like so you've been complaining
for more than a year.
Speaker 12 (01:39:54):
Right last week they did come over and use I
was not here.
Speaker 5 (01:39:59):
I was at Mark.
Speaker 12 (01:40:00):
They used pilot like that to clean clean it off.
Speaker 6 (01:40:05):
Okay, so it came in, Oh god.
Speaker 5 (01:40:11):
The water lake.
Speaker 12 (01:40:13):
Okay, So I said, are you going to get a
multi person out here. And he said, the maintenance guy said,
it's not mold. I know what mold looks like. It's
it's not mold, it's milk.
Speaker 5 (01:40:23):
Well, what does he mean it's not mold.
Speaker 12 (01:40:26):
I'm saying that it's mildew.
Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
Oh my god, this guy's and is this the landlord
telling you this?
Speaker 12 (01:40:35):
This is the maintenance guy.
Speaker 5 (01:40:37):
Yeah, Well he's full of crap. I mean mildew. Uh,
mildew is a form of mold. For goodness sakes, here's
the thing about mold. Joy.
Speaker 4 (01:40:47):
The first thing you.
Speaker 5 (01:40:48):
Have to do with mold is you have to cut
it's food supply. Okay, you got to take away its
food supply, which is normally water and and the organic material,
and then you kill it. So what did they do?
All they did was wiped it off.
Speaker 12 (01:41:07):
Yes, So so they kept this hole in the ceiling
looking for the leak, and they said they'll go up
right here. Okay, So then today to come back and
bring some new keat rob and put in that hole
and paint it, do some mold resistant paint.
Speaker 5 (01:41:26):
And they okay did, but they did did they say
they found the leaky?
Speaker 10 (01:41:32):
They see the.
Speaker 12 (01:41:33):
Leak and pipe up upstairs or the one and they
fixed it. They have not fixed it yet. They said
they're going to fix it from the neighbor's apartment upstairs.
Speaker 5 (01:41:44):
Got it? Okay, so far, so good. What's the problem.
That's what they're supposed to do. Fix the leak, put
some kills on it or a killing compound, and then
seal it up. So what part do you not like?
Speaker 12 (01:41:58):
Are they required to do a mold test or an
air quality test?
Speaker 5 (01:42:04):
Okay, this is a tricky question.
Speaker 4 (01:42:06):
Joy.
Speaker 5 (01:42:07):
Technically they are not required to do it because they
can simply say we fixed it, right, and you if
you want to bring an action against the landlord or
make them do something, you're going to have to do
the first test. So you would have to do a
test and pay for it. That's the way it is
(01:42:29):
in Colorado. You can do something about the actual mold,
but first you have to prove that it's there, and
they are not required to do that.
Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:42:42):
Of course, in my opinion, they should want to do it,
you know, just so they can prove to you that
they fixed it. Did you did you ask them to
do it?
Speaker 15 (01:42:52):
Come?
Speaker 5 (01:42:54):
I did not hold on one second, did you, Joy,
did you ask them to do a test.
Speaker 12 (01:42:59):
So I did not really asked him to do a
test that well, I asked him, were they certified in
mold treatment? And he's in the maintenance guy said it's
it's not mold, it's just mild. Well that it doesn't
require anything else because it's not official mold.
Speaker 5 (01:43:18):
Well, whether it's official mold or not, it does require
that they cut off this food supply and that they
kill it. Because what did it look like? I mean,
did it look like mold to you? I mean, that's
what it is. What were you going to say? D?
Speaker 4 (01:43:34):
And then bum D?
Speaker 16 (01:43:35):
Last week during your day off, we had Brad O'Brien
in the studio. Yeah, and he said something that neither
Mark and I knew prior to here was someone if
a tenant requests a mold test, they.
Speaker 4 (01:43:48):
Just required to do it.
Speaker 5 (01:43:49):
I didn't know that until bread just to break. Is
that what you were going to say? Because I told
pay for it?
Speaker 15 (01:43:57):
Same thing Davis as stating, we learned that from Brad O'Brien,
Like me, is a landlord, I have to require get
a test done.
Speaker 4 (01:44:05):
So Joy I was wrong.
Speaker 5 (01:44:07):
Hold on, So all Joy has to do is request
a mold sport test and they have to do it.
Speaker 4 (01:44:12):
They have to do it, Tom.
Speaker 16 (01:44:13):
Now, I think there's a more practical matter to consider
for Joy, which is, if she starts, how important is
it for her to know if that's mold and what
kind of mold? Because if she starts becoming the squeaky wheel,
you know what happens to those and they.
Speaker 5 (01:44:26):
Can they can have victor, but they'd have to have
a reason to a victor. Oh, a guy can find
a reason, Joy, you have to ask him, now, Bo,
or you get the actual law.
Speaker 17 (01:44:39):
Yeah, so well these looking up the law, Tom.
Speaker 15 (01:44:43):
What Joy needs to do is request the landlord to
do the test, and if he says no or won't.
Speaker 5 (01:44:49):
Get yeah, but you should quote the law.
Speaker 4 (01:44:52):
Joy.
Speaker 5 (01:44:53):
When you call the landlord, you should say would you please?
First I would just request would you do a mold
spore test? I'm concerned about the quality of my air
since this was done. And then if they say no,
then you can say, according to this state law, you
are required to do it.
Speaker 4 (01:45:13):
I have never heard that before.
Speaker 5 (01:45:17):
In fact, I've given out advice and telling people buy
your own mold test.
Speaker 4 (01:45:23):
You know.
Speaker 16 (01:45:24):
I think Joy needs to consider the fact that that's
a very aggressive move Joey, is this subsidized housing by
any chance?
Speaker 5 (01:45:32):
We got to take this break. Hold on, We'll come
right back, and I got to take this break. Sorry,
I'm really running late. Go with a sure thing Denver's

Speaker 4 (01:47:31):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (01:47:32):
And I asked you for a special We'll get to
but right now I want to go to Steve as
a comment.
Speaker 4 (01:47:36):
Let me set the stage.
Speaker 5 (01:47:37):
Joy called and said I noticed some mold and in
my bathroom for more than a year, the landlord finally
got over there and said there's a leak in the
upstairs apartment. And they fixed the leak and now they
wiped off the mold and they said it was mildew.
Speaker 4 (01:47:49):
Don't worry about it. So can you just wipe that off?
If you did.
Speaker 5 (01:47:53):
Away with the uh, if you did away with the
uh you know, the source, the water, the food. Can
you now call it good? Steve?
Speaker 4 (01:48:01):
You have a comment.
Speaker 5 (01:48:02):
I'm sorry for the weight, but you were about to
say something about this mold call.
Speaker 4 (01:48:07):
What do you think? Go ahead, Steve, Well.
Speaker 9 (01:48:10):
I think the only thing that landlord should have done
was cover it with kills case sprant, with TILEX or something.
But you know, it sounds like there isn't an issue
here in my mind. I mean, they cut the drywall out,
they mold out right right. I mean, let's do five
(01:48:30):
tests and see what we come up with. No, we're
gonna cut this thing out. Okay, We're going to fix
the pipe, we're gonna put it back in, we're gonna
paint it, and we're done.
Speaker 5 (01:48:41):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (01:48:41):
It sounds to me like she's just a whiner and
wants to you know. You know, I've had tenants like
this before, where where you know, they flipped out and
I said, well, maybe it's time to move. And I've
had other tenants that said, thank you for coming in
here and doing this and taking care.
Speaker 8 (01:48:55):
Of the problem.
Speaker 4 (01:48:56):
Okay, Steve, do you know this mold thing.
Speaker 5 (01:48:58):
I swear to God, this mold thing over the past
twenty twenty five years has taken on a life of
its own. When people see mold, they almost want the
house rebuilt. I swear to God, it's it's incredible, and
not all mold is deadly toxic mold. Of course, I'm
not telling people they shouldn't worry about it. They should
(01:49:21):
at least see what the mold spot count is before
they worry. I guess though. The main thing, Steve, if
you're a landlord, have you ever heard of the law
that requires you to do mold spot or testing upon request?
Speaker 9 (01:49:36):
Now?
Speaker 4 (01:49:37):
Neither of us.
Speaker 13 (01:49:38):
I think.
Speaker 9 (01:49:38):
I think if you go in there and you mitigate
the situation nine times out of ten, if you spray
it with bleach or tylex or whatever, and then you
let it dry, and then you do that again, and
then you feel it with kills, let that dry, and
then you paint it so you can't even tell it
you had an issue, you know, like you said, you
want to rebuild the whole house, right, And she says,
(01:50:01):
well did are you sure you got it all?
Speaker 5 (01:50:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:50:03):
Well, well, thank you, Steve. I'm going to go. I'm
going to thank you very much.
Speaker 5 (01:50:07):
I'm going to go to Brad O'Brien a real estate
attorney O'Brien Legal Services. We use him a lot for
all kinds of all kinds of issues with real estate,
including tenant, landlord and Brad. Deputy D recalls you talking
about mold testing and that all a tenant has to
(01:50:27):
do is request it. Can you elaborate on that for us?
Speaker 18 (01:50:33):
Actually last week when we talked about this, the requesting
was about the hotel getting a hotel accommodations when the
remediation is going on. A role test is covered in
the Warrantchief Habitability Act, and it's required after the remediation
is done. But a landlord is required to start remediation
(01:50:55):
with seventy two hours after a reporting of a written
reporting of water problem that could cause mold, and arguably
that mitigation would include doing an initial mold test. That's
not mentioned in the statutes. But what the statue does mention,
for example, doing containment that's right.
Speaker 5 (01:51:19):
Or putting up Brad. I just glanced at the law
and it does require after mitigation a mold sport test
for the air.
Speaker 13 (01:51:29):
That's right.
Speaker 18 (01:51:30):
There's nothing in there about a tenant just randomly requesting
a mold test.
Speaker 5 (01:51:34):
Okay, got you. It has to be in conjunction with
a mitigation effort.
Speaker 18 (01:51:42):
Yeah, the statute specifically mentions doing a post remediation.
Speaker 13 (01:51:47):
Test for the jottic of mold.
Speaker 18 (01:51:49):
But that's just sort of an offhanded comment because the
statue references remediation and then it says including post remediation testing,
right right, So yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:52:03):
That's what I saw in the law.
Speaker 5 (01:52:04):
I glanced at it and it did say something about that,
and I was very shocked that it required that. It
said it is required that you do a follow up test,
and it didn't mention anything about request from the tenant.
So I'm glad you cleared that up. Thank you, Brad.
(01:52:26):
Brad O'Brien. Lslaw dot com stands for Abrian Legal Services.
If you're a landlord, man, I wouldn't do anything without
his input. I'll tell you that right now. Olslaw dot com.
Mark Schamansky Genesis Total Exteriors. He's the founder, owner and operator.
They do a great job Mark and Maryland, and this
(01:52:47):
is a wonderful company for all of your exterior maintenance
plus basement baths. I mean, they do it all. And
he does mold detection and remediation, which is a pretty
cool thing because I like having honest people in this
kind of business, Mark, is there a difference? At first
(01:53:07):
the maintenance man said, well, we don't really have to
do a test because it's just mildew.
Speaker 4 (01:53:13):
Is there a what is mildew? In your estimation?
Speaker 5 (01:53:16):
Since you're in the mold and remediation business of sorts.
Speaker 7 (01:53:21):
Mi'lldew is breaking down of natural organic compounds. It's not
necessarily a mold.
Speaker 5 (01:53:26):
Oh, it is.
Speaker 7 (01:53:27):
Different, and it's it's not anything to the same level
as mold. You know, milda is typically white, not always,
but typically white, and hold comes in all different colors.
And nobody can just sit there and take a look
at something that there's no mold here. No, that's that's
ever should have it?
Speaker 5 (01:53:44):
No, that's done, Mark, When you do it, when you
do a remediation and you're done, do you do a
mold a follow up test?
Speaker 7 (01:53:53):
Yeah, And we always use a third party to do
that test because you don't want to have a conflict
of interest. So you know, whoever doing the testing should.
Speaker 9 (01:54:01):
Not be doing work.
Speaker 7 (01:54:03):
Gotcha I tested? I mean, and so you know they
you know, there's just I'm like the interested it that
way you do your testing.
Speaker 5 (01:54:14):
Afterwards, Mark, I want to ask another thing, are there
standards set by e PA or someone by building codes
or somewhere that tells you what a safe level of
mold is to have?
Speaker 7 (01:54:25):
No, because every environment is different. So you know, you
baseline is always outside there, and what's your goal is
to always have less more?
Speaker 5 (01:54:37):
Okay, So if you're in an area that has high
mold spores outside, you don't have to do an extra
special system.
Speaker 4 (01:54:45):
On the inside.
Speaker 5 (01:54:46):
You just have to do it relative to the air
you're served.
Speaker 7 (01:54:51):
We're all breathing their mold spores right now, you know,
as everywhere there's nobody can do.
Speaker 4 (01:54:59):
Okay, we're having break up.
Speaker 5 (01:55:00):
Mark Schumansky, Genesis, Total Exteriors dot Com.
Speaker 4 (01:55:03):
Thank you very much, so, Joy, I think we.
Speaker 5 (01:55:06):
Know enough that you first before we get involved.
Speaker 4 (01:55:09):
I'm not sure we need even deed to get involved.
Speaker 5 (01:55:12):
You need to officially request, according to law, that they
remedia excuse me, that they do a follow up test
because that is required in the law. So I would
simply put it that way.
Speaker 12 (01:55:27):
I think that they're going to ignore me. Would you
would you be able to we.
Speaker 5 (01:55:32):
Would call him. We'll call him if if you listen
for yes, go ahead.
Speaker 15 (01:55:38):
The landlord says no, Joy, you can contact a Carado
Department of Health and Environment and file a complaint about
mold and they will investigate it and if you want,
I can get involved in help.
Speaker 5 (01:55:51):
Yeah. But first, Bo, if you would remind let's say,
remind the guy, remind or the gal remind him that
on under the law, they're supposed to do a follow
up test.
Speaker 4 (01:56:03):
Maybe that's all.
Speaker 15 (01:56:04):
We need, yes, And then if they don't do not
do it, then she could file a complaint and beat
me being the landlord. The last thing I want is
the call out of the Department of Health coming around.
Speaker 17 (01:56:16):
Ye know, she needs me, She needs me to.
Speaker 15 (01:56:19):
Get involved and talk to the landlord because she sounds
a little weak about it. Yeah, that's the first thing
we want to do.
Speaker 5 (01:56:27):
Joy.
Speaker 4 (01:56:28):
What we'll do is we'll make a quick call.
Speaker 5 (01:56:32):
But first I think you need to request it. You're saying,
you're saying they're going to ignore you, but we don't
know that. Yeah, So why don't you get ax get
her contact information for Deputy Bow.
Speaker 15 (01:56:48):
I'll help her make the call, but she does she
needs to make the call herself.
Speaker 4 (01:56:52):
F first.
Speaker 5 (01:56:53):
That's right, we agree, All right, let's go back to
renew Home. Innovations dot com. Nick Fox is with us.
They're at three h three nine zero four to two thousand.
I asked them for some kind of a special. They
do Italian porcelain walking showers that are absolutely beautiful.
Speaker 4 (01:57:10):
They're direct importers.
Speaker 5 (01:57:12):
But let's talk what kind of a special can we
do today?
Speaker 14 (01:57:18):
So I was singing we could put together a promotion
that we ran quite a while back here on the
show at where we did. If you purchase a bathroom remodel,
we'll give you a free shower.
Speaker 5 (01:57:28):
In another bathroom. Oh really, a free walking shower.
Speaker 14 (01:57:33):
A free walking shower, yeah, so so, but you have
to purchase a bathroom a free model in them.
Speaker 5 (01:57:39):
So if you have a bathroom remodel, yep, you get
to pick another bathroom for a walk in shower. Correct.
Oh that's pretty cool. And how long will you take
calls on that? Through the month of June? Okay, wow,
oh my goodness, what are you kidding me? All right,

Speaker 4 (01:59:37):

Speaker 5 (01:59:38):
Think so now A lot of times, uh, I think
the world has to catch up with you because you
have a lot of advanced ideas. So I want to
ask you this, what do you think when you talk
about when you see people trying to get a start
in business. I know you have a heart for people
like I do, for those who want to get ahead.
What do you think the biggest mistake people make when
(01:59:59):
they're starting a business? I have my little list here
that I've talked about and my regulars will remember what
I'm talking about, because but what do you think, just
just your gut what what? What do people make mistakes?
What do you think their biggest mistakes are. I'm going
to put down three that I know that I think. Well,
you know, I'll shoously with you. When I was really young,
(02:00:20):
I read a book.
Speaker 14 (02:00:21):
It was called the Myth, And in that book it
was it was really based upon how some people go
into business doing a craft that they may have learned but.
Speaker 4 (02:00:33):
Really, you're right.
Speaker 5 (02:00:34):
They know the trade, not.
Speaker 4 (02:00:36):
The business, right, They have no idea how to run
the business. And so okay, on that note, one guy
years ago.
Speaker 5 (02:00:42):
Yeah, oh it's his name. God, he's such a good guy.
Speaker 4 (02:00:45):
Gutter Helmety he had the franchise here.
Speaker 5 (02:00:48):
No, no, yeah, the original he had the car al
I think Carl.
Speaker 4 (02:00:53):
He had the franchise here.
Speaker 5 (02:00:56):
And he said, I'm not in the gutter business, the
gutter you know, protection business. Or he said he was
in the lead generation business. Right, he says everyone is
in the lead generation business.
Speaker 4 (02:01:12):
Everyone.
Speaker 5 (02:01:13):
The trade is different than the business. Gut or helmet
is the trade you put it on the product and trade.
The business is when he would go around and do
the promotions and the lead generation.
Speaker 4 (02:01:30):
So that's good. So what else do you think?
Speaker 5 (02:01:32):
So so they they know the trade, but they don't
take time to learn business. Yeah, they have to understand
that there's us, that's one of mine, that's one of mine,
of the product, the service trade versus business. Okay, what else?
Speaker 14 (02:01:45):
Obviously you have to understand you know, how to go
to market when it pertains to marketing.
Speaker 4 (02:01:50):
Okay, gosh, that's another one.
Speaker 5 (02:01:52):
People always underestimate the cost of marketing. It's incredible.
Speaker 4 (02:01:57):
That should be one of your major line items.
Speaker 14 (02:02:00):
It is our it's one of our primary online items
because if they don't know who you are, some businesses
can manage to run without having to go to market
in the way that a lot of service related companies do.
Our industry requires that we are constantly in the forefront
of the industry. Either people need to be seeing us,
hearing about us, learning about us, and we have to
(02:02:22):
have enticing reasons. Why so, that's part of the whole
marketing plan to make the phones ring and then ultimately
just have really good systems and then financial ability to
actually make the business succeed instant.
Speaker 5 (02:02:35):
Yeah, if you're under what are they called capitalized, then
you're screwed. Okay, trade versus business was one of mine.
They know the trade not the business, or they know
the business and not the trade.
Speaker 4 (02:02:47):
You have to know both, or you have to hire
people that know one or the other.
Speaker 5 (02:02:50):
Right, if you're going to then the next one was
and you didn't catch on this one.
Speaker 4 (02:02:55):
Accounting for your time?
Speaker 5 (02:02:58):
Oh yeah, how many owners buy themselves a bad job?
Speaker 4 (02:03:02):
A lot? Yeah, they buy themselves a bad job.
Speaker 5 (02:03:07):
They did not take the time to account for their
time in getting this off the ground. Yeah.
Speaker 14 (02:03:13):
If you end up running every department, you will run
yourself into the ground. And so you have to be
willing to hire people that have better skills at certain
aspects of the practice of the craft.
Speaker 5 (02:03:27):
And when you're buying a business or starting a business,
if you don't account for your time.
Speaker 4 (02:03:32):
I knew a guy.
Speaker 5 (02:03:33):
He and his wife were working their asses off. They
bought a business, and I said, what are you making?
He told me what he was making. I said, no,
you're not. I said, you know, where's the line item
for you and your wife? Right? I mean you and
your wife are working twenty four to seven on this
damn thing, almost twenty four seven, And so he was
losing money.
Speaker 4 (02:03:52):
I said, you realize you and your wife can you.
Speaker 5 (02:03:53):
Get Jobsah, you're smart and you wouldn't have any of
this overhead. So he was actually being in business. He
was losing money being in business, and.
Speaker 14 (02:04:04):
That can happen, you know, thankfully. You know my wife
and I we do work together. Yeah, but but you
account for it, right, I mean you right. I mean
you don't just throw it in and don't count it
for nothing. No, No, we we run you know. I
will tell you one other thing, uh I learned a
long time ago. You if you if you treat it
like a hobby, it will cost you. If you treat
(02:04:26):
it like a business, it'll make you money. And so
I've always kind of lived by that mantra. I don't
do it half hearted. You know, everything we do, you know,
we go all in and then we try to run
it so that the company doesn't run us. We want
to run a business so that we have the proper
people in place success.
Speaker 4 (02:04:43):
Here's another one.
Speaker 5 (02:04:44):
You ready, Let's take this break and I'll come back
with it, because this is this is real wisdom.
Speaker 4 (02:04:49):
I'm serious.
Speaker 5 (02:04:50):
You're talking about two people who have.
Speaker 4 (02:04:52):
Have experience in business.
Speaker 5 (02:04:54):
And Nick especially, you know, with the trades businesses, the
home improvement business. He's in it really thick and he
knows what he's talking about. We'll talk about the next
couple of snaf foos.
Speaker 4 (02:05:06):
When you start your business right after this, go.
Speaker 5 (02:05:14):

Speaker 4 (02:05:46):

Speaker 5 (02:05:49):

oh three seven one three talk three oh three seven

(02:06:22):
I'm talking to my buddy Nick Fox renew Home Innovations
dot com and they do custom walking showers and bathroom
remodeling Italian Porcelain direct Stone Importer. I want to talk
about some business stuff since he started businesses very successfully,
and we talked about what people do wrong. Okay, so
(02:06:44):
all we both agree on trade versus business. Many people
know a trade, but they don't business. Might have a
great plumber, he's working for a company.
Speaker 4 (02:06:53):
He's seeing his.
Speaker 5 (02:06:54):
Boss and I'm going to go on the plumbing business,
but he doesn't know how to do the business part
of it. This is the biggest problem with contractors in general.
Contractors they don't know business. They don't consider certain factors
in business, and they start, as they say, robbing Peter
(02:07:15):
to pay Paul. What that means is taking money in
but not allotting it for that job. They overspent on
a job, or they spent the money on something else,
and now they need to make up for that loss,
so they have to get someone else to put money down,
and that becomes a snowball.
Speaker 4 (02:07:32):
So trade versus business is giant.
Speaker 5 (02:07:36):
The next giant thing accounting for your own time. If
it's okay to work your business, you and your wife,
you and your brother, you and your sister, but you
have to account for it because you could be ending
up buying yourself a bad job. The next thing, by
(02:07:59):
the way, what is calling about it? I didn't see
it on the call line. I don't think you hit
entered there. You go, let me get Kurt back and
then we'll go to our other evaluations. Here, Kurt, welcome
to the show. What's going on with you?
Speaker 12 (02:08:11):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (02:08:11):
There?
Speaker 19 (02:08:12):
I was just looking for just a little bit of
legal advice, just some background. Very quickly, we had our
pet put down at our home by a vet, and
the vet contracted with a cremation individual, and to find
out he wasn't even in the business to cremate animals.
(02:08:34):
Our dog was in Manitou Springs during the hottest part
of the summer. The body, along with twenty one other
dogs in a storage shed, and people started complaining about
the smell and then the liquid coming from under the door.
Speaker 5 (02:08:52):
And how did you get the name of the How
did you get the name of this guy?
Speaker 19 (02:08:56):
So it was through our vet.
Speaker 5 (02:09:01):
And he said, and so did this guy come and pick.
Speaker 4 (02:09:04):
Up your dog?
Speaker 19 (02:09:06):
So she took it to him?
Speaker 5 (02:09:10):
Okay, and then what and then how did you track
all this down? It sounds like you did a lot
of homework. How did you find out all this stuff?
Speaker 19 (02:09:19):
So I did do a lot of homework. I didn't
get the ashes back on a timely basis, and so
I called the vet's office and they acted really funny
like something was up, and she said, oh, you must
have watched the Channel eleven news, and apparently I did
not know that. But in the meantime, there was a
(02:09:40):
newscast about this by Channel eleven, and I actually did
interviews for Fox over in radio in the Springs and
Channel eleven talking about our story and what happened with
them and.
Speaker 4 (02:09:55):
Where are they? Where's the cremator located.
Speaker 5 (02:10:00):
Right now?
Speaker 19 (02:10:00):
He's in California, And what happened was he was in Colorado.
I did some investigating to find out he's not only
this isn't the only thing that he's done wrong, but
he's also a sexual predator on the Predator List, and
(02:10:22):
so he's being watched in a number of different ways.
Speaker 7 (02:10:25):
But I would like.
Speaker 19 (02:10:26):
To do I understand that he could be back in
Colorado and I don't know that.
Speaker 5 (02:10:30):
What is his name? What is his name? What is
his name?
Speaker 19 (02:10:33):
Name is Marcus Marcus Antonio A N T H. O.
N Io Williams, Marcus Antonio Williams. And you can see
him right on the Predator list.
Speaker 4 (02:10:47):
O good Antonio Antonio.
Speaker 5 (02:10:51):
That's a weird name Okay Antonio and and Marcus Antonio.
Speaker 4 (02:10:55):
He's on a he's on that.
Speaker 5 (02:10:57):
Registration list for Predator and also he ripped people off.
Speaker 4 (02:11:02):
Now you finally got your ashes or.
Speaker 19 (02:11:04):
What I got ashes?
Speaker 5 (02:11:09):
You know? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:11:10):
Gotcha?
Speaker 5 (02:11:10):
No, I got you? I got you. Now listen, man,
what do you want by today's call? We can you know,
I don't see where you need legal advice. We can
get an attorney if you do. But what are you
calling about today? What do you want to do? Do
you want to sue this guy? He's probably not. He
probably doesn't have a penny.
Speaker 19 (02:11:29):
No, No, here's what I need the legal advice on.
With the chance that he is back in Colorado, I
would like to run off pictures of him, you know,
right from the Internet, so they're honest pictures.
Speaker 5 (02:11:41):
They're there right right.
Speaker 19 (02:11:42):
I would like to make just a description of what
my story was, and I'd like to send that out
to the veterinary offices who use cremation services for pets.
And just as a warning, I just need to make
sure that I'm not doing anything, you know, defamation of
character or well.
Speaker 5 (02:12:03):
Hold on, hold on, hold on. A lot of people
talk about a lot of people talk about defamation of character?
Do you know what? Defamation of character is not wrong
or illegal? There's nothing you know you will be doing
defamation of character. You absolutely positively will be doing defamation
of character.
Speaker 4 (02:12:23):
So what see, it's not the defamation that's bad.
Speaker 5 (02:12:28):
It's lying with malicious intent to do defamation.
Speaker 4 (02:12:34):
That's what people always you know.
Speaker 5 (02:12:36):
They they say to me when I'm on my show,
I'm going to sue you for defamation, And I say,
go ahead, just scumbag. I stand by everything I say
because there is nothing wrong with defamation unless I'm lying
about it. Okay, So you go ahead and defame Marcus,
if you're telling the truth, go ahead and do anything
(02:12:57):
you want. Again, he can sue you, sure he can.
He but the only time. And I can tell you
this from fifty years in media, I've been sued dozens
of times. No one has ever prevailed once against me,
and I've even been awarded attorney's fees. Now, let me
explain what I mean. Defamation and all that crap doesn't
(02:13:20):
mean anything as long as you're telling the truth or
or giving your opinion based on reasonable facts.
Speaker 4 (02:13:33):
What do I mean by that? Okay?
Speaker 5 (02:13:35):
If I meet somebody and I say it's my opinion
that guy is a crook. Even though I said it's
my opinion, I have nothing at all to base it on.
So that would be even though my opinion it may
not be protected because I am giving my opinion based
(02:13:58):
on nothing. But if I have, for example, based on
these consumer complaints and the fact that the guy won't
call us back, I'm getting the feeling he's a crook,
or in my opinion, I would never do business with
this guy. Blah blah blah blah blah. That's different. Now
let's say I find out this guy took money and
(02:14:19):
didn't do work for people. I could say this guy
took money and didn't do work for people, and I
think he's a scumbag. I can do anything like that.
So if you want legal advice on your pamphlet, you
need to take it to an appropriate attorney. But will
you be defaming, Yeah, you will on purpose, on purpose. So,
(02:14:40):
Kurt is long, here's what I would do if it
was me. Again, I'm not going to give you legal
advice on this. You need a media attorney. But here's
what I would do if I knew what I was
saying is true. That's all I would care about and
I can defend it if it's true. There's nothing that
prevents you from going to two veterinarians offices putting his
(02:15:02):
picture and a story about him. Okay, I mean you
know now, Remember the guy can still sue you if
he wants.
Speaker 4 (02:15:12):
Tom right, Yes, go go ahead both.
Speaker 15 (02:15:15):
So Kurt is he operating under a company called Peaceful
Memories LLC?
Speaker 5 (02:15:21):
Yes?
Speaker 15 (02:15:22):
Okay, it looks like he operates out of another state too,
where Archisy? I think Upper Michigan.
Speaker 8 (02:15:28):
I think.
Speaker 4 (02:15:31):
You know what I want you to do.
Speaker 5 (02:15:34):
I want you to truly I want you to get
me all the information you can Kurt and get it
to acts or get it bo. Maybe you can call
Kurt and get a bunch of information. Let's put him
up on the sleeves brigade because that a lot of people.
A lot of people check the sleeves brigade and it
(02:15:54):
also comes up in searches.
Speaker 4 (02:15:56):
Hold on, we got more coming right up, Hang on more.
Speaker 5 (02:16:02):
Go with a sure thing Denver's Best roofer excel Roofing

(02:16:24):
when you choose Frank durand the real estate Man dot
com to list your home with Remax Alliance three oh
three nine two zero sixteen twenty two. Hey Tom Martina, Here,
I'm with Nick Fox from renew Home Innovations dot com.
Renew Home Innovations dot Com. We're talking about knowing a
trade but not knowing a business. One of the pitfalls
(02:16:45):
of starting a business. You know how to do the trade,
but not the business activity. You don't account for your time,
so you're buying yourself sometimes a bad job when you
buy a business or start a business. Another one, and
this is one that's really really important, evaluating competition. Do
you know how many times Nick, people start a business
(02:17:07):
and they say, I'm going to be doing this, and
the reason I'm going to win is because I can
do it for this price, And then all of a sudden,
the big competitor comes in and lowers the price. Right,
So you have to do more than just know what
the competition is. You have to evaluate whether or not
(02:17:27):
you can stay in it to win it, because look,
why would you bother with you going into bathroom remodeling
or a shower, complete custom shower, install some of those
beautiful Italian porcelain showers. Why would you bother going into
the business if there was somebody big and bad and
(02:17:48):
doing it for lower price. Wouldn't make sense at all.
Speaker 4 (02:17:51):
No, I wouldn't.
Speaker 5 (02:17:52):
Or if somebody you think does respond well, then you
can respond here. But you're ready for it. You're not
blind simply going after a slice of business without knowing
the challenges. And then the other one you mentioned, cost
of marketing huge. That's, in my opinion, next to the
(02:18:15):
main cog. What I mean by a main cog is
your main admin or you or your wife the main core.
Other than that, you need the marketing cost to be
like one of your executives, that marketer, whoever it is,
whether it's an individual or you're the one doing it
with an expenditure. That expenditure has to be at least
(02:18:40):
equal to the best person you could hire cor you know,
so if you're spending on marketing, it's going to be
worth it. And if you're not spending on it, you're
never going to get business. But you have to put
that in as a line item quickly, Jeanette, let me
take your question.
Speaker 4 (02:18:58):
Go ahead, Jeanette, what's going on? Okay?
Speaker 12 (02:19:00):
I just flew back twice.
Speaker 20 (02:19:03):
My father is going to be one hundred and one.
She's in house because that Sunrise Assisted Living. He used
to be independent. A Sunrise wants to charge him seven
hundred and fifty dollars to move him two doors down
in the same assisted building, side and hallway. And he's
on his last two days of life. He's not eating,
(02:19:26):
he's not walking anymore.
Speaker 5 (02:19:27):
Right, hold on, get Jeanette's number acts. Let's get her
back on the air. Okay, Jeanette, hang on and we'll
take this up tomorrow. I'm Tom Martino. Don't forget three
oh three Martino. Three oh three six' two seven eight
four sixty.
Speaker 4 (02:19:43):
Six
