Speaker 1 (00:01):
Forty five years strong, solving your problems, answering questions, taking complaints.
This is the Troubleshooter Show. No Tom Martino.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Hey, I'm Tom Martino. I mean, do have a studio
full of people. I'll get that camera up as soon
as I can. We're having some technical difficulty if you're
streaming the show, but welcome everyone else. And I want
to remind you no matter when you're listening to this show,
you can always get through. You call three oh three
Martino and then if we're not on the air at

(00:34):
that time. The great part about this is that three
oh three Martino goes to our voicemail and we will
call back each and every person.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
We're always going to have you on the air if you.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Call and want to be on the air to ask problem,
to ask about problems, questions and complaints.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
So what is on your mind? I have a very
unusual problem.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
I'm going to try to get the guy up on
on the radio. He wrote to me with a very
unusual problem. I want to post to everyone you know,
I love this show because we have so many smart
people listening that many times we get solutions to problems
by just asking people, what do you think, so we'll

(01:18):
be doing one of those.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
But today is car Day, Car Day.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Jeff Vic kimmera transmission, Kevin calkinshadan autotech dot com and
anything you want to talk about. But we emphasize cars
on Friday. And one thing we ought to also emphasize
is double double, double the jobs added from what the
experts thought. How can the experts be so wrong? And

(01:48):
no matter what they say about the economy, it keeps
buzzing along, and so I've kind of stopped listening to experts.
It he doubled the numbers, they added jobs. So what
do you think, Mark, what do you think you mean?
Those are good?

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Job report was unbelievable today. Unemployment I think's four point three.
It's been hovering around that for a while. I think
everything's good. We got to give gas prices under I
want to say something about Trump right now. He's starting
to disappoint me. And you know what a Trumper I am.
But not finishing this, I ran war, I am really yes,

(02:30):
not understanding. We need to blow him into oblivion or
whatever we need to do.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
I don't care what it is. He started out so strong.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I don't understand what happened I don't understand either.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
I don't understand why we just don't wipe it like
a parking lot.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
I just honestly don't.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
I mean, remember, he was making those threats and he
never came through, and he's looking he's looking kind of
weak right now.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
He was really strong, and I can't figure it out.
I wonder if there's something going on, or at least
I hope there's something going on behind the scenes.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
I just don't know.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
The other one I'm really disappointed in now too, or
the Democrats in general. This Platner guy. Now there's like
three to six women coming out. Not only was he,
you know, living the high life while he was married,
sending all these sexting pictures to multiple women, I think
six of them, But now we're finding out he had
relationships with a lot of them.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
That were quite violent, I mean, but no one seems
to care. It's amazing.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
What would it take, Like the guy in California finally
stepped down, But this guy's done a lot worse than
the guy in California. But they seem to be back
at him, I would guess, just because they think they're
gonna beat Susan Collins there.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
But it's remarkable to me.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
If this guy, like, I don't know, if he was
a pedophile, would that be enough or they're still gonna
be like, well, you know, anything against Trell. I don't
know why the Democrats strategy is here besides just any cost, literally,
at any cost whatsoever. And I thought these were the
people that really cared about character. I've always heard that,

(04:08):
oh they got character. There's no character in these people
at all.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
No, No, you're you're right. And I've always said this.
You've heard me say this that politics trumps everything. And
I don't mean a play on words, but politics really
takes priority over all beliefs, even though people say, oh,
I'm a Catholic or i'm a Jew, or i'm a Protestant,
or I'm this, or i'm a Lutheran at whatever they are,

(04:33):
whatever they are, I don't mean to pick on one face, but.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
Hold your nose and go in and vote for like
plant or especially a woman going.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
That's what I mean.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
But they do, and everyone, no matter what they are,
I'm hoping they don't. I mean, we're gonna find out
real soon, I think Tuesday. But my got it.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
It's really amazing to me if it was switched around
and it was Republican.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
I couldn't vote for him.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
I simply could not vote for a Republican that did
something that is that much against my morals. Now, once again,
I'm not exactly sure. There's a lot of accusations. I
don't know what's true or not. But when you have
the text, you have multiple women coming forward, you have
a Nazi tattoo that today now they have text him

(05:22):
talking to his ex girlfriend that it is a Nazi
tat too. In fact, the tattoo is from the group
that ran the concentration camps. I know it's I mean,
and he said he didn't even know it was one.
Now we find out, of course he did. That was
four or five months ago with one of his girlfriends.
It's just remarkable to me. God, these lefties is just insane. Tom,

(05:45):
just insane.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
I agree, Barbara wants to talk about a car warranty issue,
and then Rocky we did get up and Rocky, I
do want to talk to you about your problem if
you can hang on. Man, it's the most unusual problem
I've ever heard. But I think I talked to some experts.
We may have some solutions. Hey, Barbara, what's going on
with you? What's what's happening?

Speaker 6 (06:08):
Hi?

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Something?

Speaker 7 (06:09):
Well, I'm having a warranty problem. I bought a two
thousand and seven Chrysler Pacific in ten of twenty twenty four,
and my husband bought for that car a smart Autocare warranty.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
And when you say smart Autocare, what's the name of
the company.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Is it called smart.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
Fortiga for f O rte g r A for tigre
is the name on it, and then the sub name
is smart Autocare.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Okay? And how much did you pay for that for
their care?

Speaker 7 (06:47):
Seven seventy four dollars okay, that was for the that
was for the whole thing, right, that's with the warranty. No,
that's the warranty was thirty five hundred dollars.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Oh, thirty five hundred for the warranty. Okay. So what's
going on? What's going on?

Speaker 7 (07:05):
Well, in March I went with my girlfriends out to
lunch and the car was running fine. I picked them
up at their homes and we went to lunch and
after lunch we got in the car. I started it
and something was obviously wrong with it. It was really
kind of knocking and running really rough. Yeah, And so

(07:26):
I told my girlfriends and said, well, let me get
you guys home and I'll take the car into the dealership.
And I did take it in the very next morning.
I came home, I called the dealership, made appointment for
the next morning, and took it in. And at first
they told me, well, we think maybe you need maybe
it's just your spark plugs. We're going to repair them.
So I did tell them that I had a warranty.
They said the spark plugu are not covered under warranty.

(07:48):
I said, fine, go ahead and fix it. If that's
all it's I'm happy if that's all it's wrong. And
they put new spark plugs in and stuff, but the
car still wasn't running right.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
And how many miles on this? How many miles on this.

Speaker 7 (08:01):
At the time I took it in was one hundred
and ten thousand.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Okay, so you got high mileage on this. So where
does this stand today? Did they ever fix it?

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Okay? You bought it with ninety.

Speaker 7 (08:15):
Seven thousand, ninety three thousand miles, don't you.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (08:19):
The car is still up at automation, which is where
I've always taken my cars, and it's still up there
at this point. What we went through is when they
started looking into it, they said they found out that
a piston was broken and that the engine needed repaired,
so they contacted the warrant.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
That's pretty that's pretty major. That's like a guy like
you repair a piston these days?

Speaker 8 (08:46):
Or no, what do you do rebuilding the tram? Now
you you replace the moment.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Now you don't open it up for one piston. When
you have it open like that, you would do a
repair right.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
On the whole thing. You're going to go through the
whole thing.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
And what would cause that to happen? A piston to
crack or whatever.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
He's probably not exactly what it is. Probably throw a
rod most likely.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
So it's going to be it's going to be expensive, yes, And.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Is the warranty turning it down.

Speaker 7 (09:16):
Yes, And we're clear into June because they just turned
they just refused to pay for it in May.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
They kind of just why.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
Did they refuse that? What did they say? Did they
say it was pre existing? Did they say you didn't
do maintenance? Why did they say no?

Speaker 7 (09:34):
They said the only thing they said was that when
Brian called me, he said, we're not going to approve
the warranty repair because there's carbon in your engine.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Carbon in the engine, So what does that mean? Is
that what they're trying to say.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
That's what they're trying to say. And I do have
carfax from the previous owner. It was the one owner
before me, and I do have the car fact the
faintness was maintained. I've got all their you know, records
that they went in. They did oil changes on time
and everything, so the car was maintained. That is one
of the reasons that I bought.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Environment carbon carbon.

Speaker 6 (10:14):
I think more probably sludge sludge would be the kind
of thing that they would find by pulling a valve cover.

Speaker 8 (10:20):
Carbon is not going to have car built up just
from burning in. Every car has carbon.

Speaker 9 (10:25):
That's the reason we talk about you Every car has carbon.

Speaker 8 (10:28):
Yeah, they talk about using forty four k is to
clean that stuff up.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
They're saying it was probably sludge though, Just mean, when's
the last time you changed your oil?

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (10:39):
Me was about two weeks before that this happened.

Speaker 6 (10:42):
Wow, there'say be a method to which you can contest that,
whether it's arbitration or what it is.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
But I have you guys heard of have you guys
heard of for Tegra or smart Autocare.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
No, there's there's a million of them anymore. They're just
different names.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
You know, they're not I mean people people should not
buy them. We we gotta, we gotta take this break

you choose Frank durand the real estate man dot Com

nine two zero sixteen twenty two. Hi Tom Martino, your troubleshooter,

(12:22):
Welcome to the show. Three O three seven one three
talk seven one three eight two five five. So basically,
on this warranty issue, we may have somebody call on it.
But really, guys, you've seen this before. All they have
to say is lack of maintenance. That's all they have
to do. Well, don't and then you're done. You would
think they have to have some proof, like, yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (12:42):
Know, and there's a way to there's a way to
contest it. It's not a one undone.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Yeah, but she should get it over the arbitrary.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
She wants to send me the paperwork and stuff. I'll
review it and look at it, you know, whatever christ
Or said, and you know, at least do an eye
on it and see if we can figure something out.

Speaker 8 (12:59):
Present a horrible way, hard to tell well, and moreover,
you know, if you're going to send that stuff over
to him, make sure you send him the contract as well,
because there's all sorts of places where they try to
duck and dive, and we actually really do need to
read those.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
There's a lot of bourbids.

Speaker 6 (13:13):
Yeah, did they Did you approve a teardown for for
the Chrysler dealer to look at the engine?

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Is she still there?

Speaker 10 (13:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Did you? Did you approve a teardown? How did they
find out what was wrong with it?

Speaker 7 (13:28):
Well, they did the teardown and that's when they found
that the.

Speaker 9 (13:35):
Broken Who paid for the teardown?

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Okay, okay, so you're on the hook to fix this.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Whether or not they do it. You you, you know,
you took the thing.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Apart, and what you ought to do is document everything
you see. Does the mechanic feel that there's excessive sludge
on that car?

Speaker 7 (13:53):
No, he does not feel that way. He feels that
it's a piston broke and that it has to have
a new engine. And I do have to say that
AutoNation has been fighting for me and trying, but they've
just ran into brick walls everywhere they go. I have
pictures also of the when they broke it down and
took pictures of everything, showing the scarring on the walls

(14:16):
and everything that should be there. For a piston break.
And it's all there, and.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
They're saying it's a lack of maintenance.

Speaker 7 (14:25):
They did not say that. They said there's carbon in
the engine. Originally when they first called up the warranty company,
Brian from the warranty company called me and he said, well,
you need to know that if we find any sludge
or any carbon in that engine, we can't fix it.
It's in your warranty. There's one line in your warranty

(14:47):
that says and there is one line in there. There
is one little there's one thing that talks about carbon.
But what is resulting from and lack of and a
lack of proper necessary mouth of cool a lubrica is
relying egg go going and on, and but I have
the car facts for the car, and you can see
they did all the regular world changes, They did all
of the maintenance that they needed to do on the car.

(15:09):
The car was not abused.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Okay, And you know another.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Here's the problem. Your left to fight.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
Well, I mean, kevin't just said let's get all that information.
You got to get it over to them. You know,
in the country, it's hard to be an arbitration clause.
It's not over it.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yeah, but we got to take it one step at
a time. Let's give it over to Kevin and see
what he can do for you. I know this is
a pain in the butt, but it's not going to
be just one phone call and they're going to cover it.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Kevin will take a look at it.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
And if they think you're going to fight it and
that you have some some horsepower behind you, I mean,
you know, they might think, ah, okay, let's go ahead
and do it. But it's going to be difficult. It's
just going to be difficult. Three oh three seven to
one three talks having one, three eight, two five y
five acts. Let's get Let's give her Kevin's information so

(16:05):
he can look at that. These warranty companies are always
looking for reasons not to pay. They're not going to
buy an engine for her.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
They're just not.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
I mean, I'll they're gonna fight tooth and nail. They
had a pist and broke. I mean, you know what
would cause a piston to break, By the way, what
causes that or the rod or whatever.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Broke could be lack of lubrication.

Speaker 6 (16:28):
Yeah, or overheating or it's a lot of different things
can cause it.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Okay, let's talk to Rocky. Now, this is a very
unusual situation, and I.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Have some pictures and I'm gonna paint the picture.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
There's a sixteen foot excuse me, a sixteen inch culvert.
It's like a big, like a big round concrete culvert. Okay,
it's sixteen inches diameter. So it's a pretty big drain pipe.
And this drain pipe or irrigation pipe, whatever you call
it matter, it's a big pipe and it's thirty seven

(17:04):
feet long where his cabin was built on top of it.
Now the culvert goes in underneath his cabin and back
out again, and it just for some reason.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
It was built on this culvert.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Now the culvert seems to be clogging and sailing, and
it seems to be backing up into his cabin or
failing that way, and he wants to know what do
I do about it?

Speaker 3 (17:31):
One of the best things to do, Rocky.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
First of all, did I spell that out pretty accurately
on what's going on?

Speaker 10 (17:39):
Yeah, Tommy did pretty much. And what we really determined
is right about in the middle. Unfortunately, there's a piece
of the culvert that has broken loose and is lodge there.
So it's restricting the flow. But I've tried everything I
can think to break that loose to clear it, because
you can say the pictures the restriction causes the water

(18:03):
to flow slowly, and the sediment is just needs getting
deeper every year. And I'm n to the point I
really got to get that fixed one way or another.
I'm either going to have to figure some way to
get that cleared out of there, or I worst comes
to worse, and I have an idea way to build
the cabin over a culvert, because that has a bad idea,
But the cabin's got a concrete slab for a floor.

(18:26):
And my last resort solution maybe to just go to
find what if that section is and tear up the
floor and repair the culvert from above. But I just
thought maybe some other expertise.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Okay, here's what I want to know. How old is
that cabin?

Speaker 3 (18:44):
How long is the picture?

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Nineteen fifty eight, nineteen fifty eight, so the cabin mark.
What it shows is the cabin's sitting on a stone foundation,
and you just see the culvert going right through it.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
Yeah, now, like they we add in the other day,
man that's he fix his foundations wouldn't that be exactly
what you need?

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Well, he has to do more than the foundation. It's
the culvert itself failing in the middle of the structure,
in the middle underneath the cabin. So yeah, he could
probably do that work. He probably could. He'd have to
open up that floor and fix it. Like this guy's saying.
But what I'd like to know is, is the culvert

(19:25):
open on each end? You can see the.

Speaker 10 (19:28):
Hand so you can Okay, it's slow.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Okay, can you divert water around it? Like not use
it anymore? Can you shut it off well and simply
divert water around.

Speaker 10 (19:42):
It's a community ditch that's used up there for I
don't know fifteen properties that people irrigate out of right
towards the end of it. So it's not something it's
not just it's not my ditch, it's not my water.
I just can't shut it off, and it's really can you.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
But if you didn't shut it off, what if you
diverted it? What if you simply diverted it around your cabin?
You built another sixteen inch culvert just to divert and
did a ditch around you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Just divert it. Can you do that or not?

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Maybe?

Speaker 10 (20:16):
I mean yeah, I mean that's that's a lot of
work and expense. And I'll tell you you know, I mean,
we farmed in the past. We've got farmer frames. And
what a lot of these farmers do when they have
a blogged covert if they literally take an old tire
on a chain or a cable and cut it through.
But I'm afraid to do that because I do that

(20:37):
and break.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
Yeah, you want to.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
You're trying to rout it out, but you could get
stuck or break it, or it could come up through
your floor.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
So so what I'd like.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
To know is this is do they have a ditch
company that runs this irrigation. Sometimes when there's an irrigation
ditch that everyone shares, there's what they call a ditch company.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Or an LLC or some kind of a partnership.

Speaker 10 (21:01):
There was it's kind of a dead ditch company since
it's the property is no longer farmed. But the water
commissioner allows us to use it just for irrigating our yards.
But there's no official peak one and the resident.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
But what I'm saying is, here's what I'm getting at.
This is not just your problem. You know, this is
a community problem, even though it happens to be under
your cabin. The problem is a community problem. It's their
ditch as much as it is.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
But he said they're not farming there anymore. So what's
the purpose of the ditch? Yeah, he said he couldn't
block it off.

Speaker 10 (21:42):
Everybody uses for irrigating their yards up there.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Yeah, So are they willing to chip in to help
fix this thing?

Speaker 10 (21:51):
That may be something I'll have to approach, but I
will tell you it's kind of a semi retirement community.
And a few years ago we put up one of
those mail boxes on the highway and people fought over
paid fifty dollars for their particular pocket.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Well, I'm going to tell you something, Rocky, Rocky, this
is not your This is not your problem.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
It's there. It's everyone's problem. It's a community ditch. Hey, Tom,
I was wondering, hold on, go ahead, Rocky.

Speaker 11 (22:21):
Do you know if there's an easement that allows them
to even run this dish across your property?

Speaker 3 (22:27):
Tom, I'm thinking.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
If there is no easement, Yeah, but it's been there
long enough. I think it's going to be that's going
to be out.

Speaker 10 (22:35):
And the cabin was built after the dish was there.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
So and they built on top of the ditch. I
think the ditch was there first.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Well, I don't doubt that the dish was there first.
But there's no ease.

Speaker 11 (22:45):
If there is no easement that requires Rocky to maintain
this dish on his problem.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Then he has liberates by saying, dude, I'm said, no question.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Is there a survey that shows this ditch on your survey?

Speaker 10 (23:00):
I have to go back and look on the survey.
I had a resurvey.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
I'm just wondering.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
I'm wondering if it shows as a common easement or
a survey. Listen, somehow, somewhere there was a ditch agreement
and it's somewhere and the title company can probably dig
it up. It's part of the property. If there's an
easement for a ditch, Now, if it's totally informal, totally
where it's just been there and no one knows what

(23:27):
they're doing, I mean, I don't see why you can't
block it off. I don't see what makes you what
They would have to have a document that says that
you can't block it off. You see, so they can't
have it both ways. They can't say, oh, we have
nothing to do with this, and then you block it
off and they say you're not allowed to block this off,

(23:48):
and say, well, show me where I can't block it off.
I would write to the people on the ditch and
I would say, unless there is a written agreement to
the contrary, I see nothing that authorizes this ditch to
go through the middle of my cabin and for me
to maintain it. So unless you're willing to chip in,
I'm going to.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
Shut it off. That's what I would do. He just
force the issue time. I got one more suggestion for Rocky.

Speaker 11 (24:15):
What's your other suggestion, Rocky? What part of town are
you in? What's where were you located? Where's this cabin?

Speaker 10 (24:20):
This is? This is the mountains Westupport Collins, Okay, in
the mountains, about thirty cabins.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Yeah, I think it's.

Speaker 10 (24:29):
It's a very informal thing. I actually there was an
issue a few years ago. I talked to the Water
Commission and he said, look, he said, I this is
a dead ditch company. But I realized what you're doing.
You just you'rregating loans. But I will tell you if
this becomes an issue, I'm just going to shut it down.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
And then shut it down. I mean, what do you
care if they shut it down? What do you care?

Speaker 10 (24:50):
I did well, because everybody in the neighborhood's going to
hate us, and well, you know what.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Then you give, Then you give the neighborhood. I would
have a meeting. This is what I would do. I'd
have a meet with them saying, look, this is unforeseen.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
The ditch company is dead.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
We obviously have a common ditch to maintain, and this
ditch is underneath and needs to be maintained. Now, you know,
if they're gonna say, well, you should have never built
on top of it, but you didn't. Everyone inherited it
the way it is, so everyone should chip in to
fix it. They really should. And then you tell them,

(25:26):
if you don't chip in to help fix it, we're
going to shut it down. And then just because they
can't stop you, there's nothing to stop you. That's the
first thing I would do is a meeting. I have
to take this break. Three oh three seven to one
three talk is our number.

Speaker 3 (25:42):

Speaker 2 (27:09):
They have battery backups, time to close, features, all the

clear choice, doores dot com. So what would you do
if you had this sixteen inch culvert and it's going
through the center of your cabin and your cabins built
on it, and it's clogged and all your neighbors use

(27:29):
it for irrigation. There is no formal agreement that anyone
can find. It's a dead ditch company at one time.
Here's how it operated, because here's how they all operate.
There's an agreement, and everybody says we're going to maintain
this ditch and we're gonna have the ditch here. And
I'm sure it also says you can't build on the

(27:50):
ditch and all that. I'm almost sure it probably said that.
But years ago. Rocky's not to blame. He bought that cabin.
It was built on this ditch. Also, everyone uses it.
And now in the middle of the in the middle
of the culvert underneath his cabin, it's blocked and he
needs to know what to do about it. He can go,
I mean, there are companies that can go and clean that.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
Out, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
There are absolutely companies that have equipment to clean that out.
So it's not a but he says it collapsed, so
it's going to have to be replaced. And I don't
know if you can do pipe bursting that large. I
know they do pipe bursting for three inch you know,
sewer lines, four inch sewer lines and a home. I
don't think they ever go to sixteen inches. That's a

(28:35):
full culvert. So I don't know how you would do
a culvert like that. How would you replace it? You know,
when you pull it out, well that cabin, I mean
that's a big, big hole underneath there. You would have
to go inside it. Probably you would have to do
some kind of a replacement as you go in other words,
you make it slightly smaller and maybe push it through again.

(28:59):
This one, you could do a metal culvert too. You
could do one of those metal culverts that you put through,
but you have to I don't know how you get
it through. I mean, surely there are people listening who
have experience or they've seen situations like this. I've seen

(29:19):
them put culverts in after the fact under a street,
you know, under a driveway, you know, when a driveway
goes over a ditch and in the country, and then
they put a culvert so you can ditch still drains.
I've seen them go and repair those, but they usually
have to.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Dig it up.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
And you know, he can't dig up thirty seven feet
of his cabin. And he says, what about rim repairing
that one section? That might be the way he might
have to jackhammer the floor to his cabin, go down
and fix the culvert there. But I don't know that's
the ideal situation. Stan. Does he have a comment on

(30:01):
this one or is he just commenting on something else.
He just hung up. Okay, God almighty, It's amazing to
me how people call and hang up in three seconds. Anyway,
I would like to know anyone with any ideas on
what do you do? Okay, you got a cabin. It's
a concrete floor underneath the cabin. You have running the

(30:26):
entire width of the cabin a culvert that is probably
made of stone of some kind, and it goes from
one end of the cabin to the other, and it's
failing in the middle.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
What do you do now?

Speaker 2 (30:42):
It's it was put in originally not put in, but
it was built. This ditch by a ditch company, and
the ditch company is now out of business. So I say,
with the absence of a ditch company, if it was
my house, I just shut it.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
I just shut it off. Just say no.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
I'd make a maybe some I'd divert the water away
with a little ditch, not a big ditch, but just
you know, divert the water away and let it go
around my property. But I would not preserve that ditch
all by myself.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
It's not my responsibility now, you know.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Granted, at the time the cabin was built, maybe the
guy shouldn't have built it there.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Who knows, maybe he had permission to build it there.
We don't even know.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
That, you know, you know, was it an open ditch
before the cabin was there. I doubt the cabin was there,
And they put the ditch in after that and decided
to tunnel under his cabin.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
But Rocky, what you have.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
To do, truly is address the neighbors everyone on that ditch.
You got to write to saying we're all part of
a defunct ditch company. Now we have a ditch that
is no longer going to function.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
We're bitching over the fifty dollars mailbox I don't see
this going anywhere.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
This guy's in okayad shape. Then he shuts it down.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Yeah, they'll sing a different song when the water stops. Man,
he shuts it down.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
There's nothing it cannot make him open that up under
his house. If they don't have an agreement, How would
they can't cut it down? How do you shut it down?

Speaker 3 (32:21):
Well, if I was him, the way.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
You shut it down is the water's coming in from somewhere.
You divert that water. You divert it with a ditch
or a swale or something. You just you know, have
an excavator, divert the water to a wide area, you know,
just divert it. Just absorb the water or run it
over somewhere. And then so now it's not going through
the cabin anymore. And then you just block off the

(32:45):
damn thing. You fill it with sand or something, you
just block it off. That fix his issue, though, Yeah,
I mean that, yeah, because his issue is the ditch
failing and the water coming up through his floor. I mean,
he's not going to have that anymore. Yeah, he doesn't
have water going through it, so rocky. I would I
would first meet with them and say, look, it's not

(33:08):
my sole responsibility to maintain this even though it's under
my place.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
You may think it is, but it's not. And I'm
not going to take this on.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
And unless you have a documentation to the contrary, there
is nothing that is forcing me to keep this ditch open.
Even the one dish guy, this water guy, I don't
know who you talked to. Who was that water guy
that said, I'm just going to shut.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
The dang thing down. Who is that guy.

Speaker 10 (33:33):
That was commissioner?

Speaker 2 (33:35):
And okay, is the water commissioner in charge? That is
the water commissioner in charge of ditches in general?

Speaker 3 (33:44):
I don't know, is he okay?

Speaker 2 (33:46):
And he acknowledges that this was an active ditch at
one time it was? And where did he say the
ditch company went?

Speaker 10 (33:59):
It just said it was a dissolved company. The people
that developed that area and put the started selling off
yet from that were the original owners that had the
hatefield there, and they're the ones that built this particular
cab and they didn't build most of them, but they
are the ones that built their Sun don't know that
they needed permission because they owned the dish.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
They're on the right, they owned, They did it on
their own. That's why they can't hold that against you.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
Rocky. Anyway, That's what I would do.

Speaker 10 (34:28):
There's nothing wondering Tom is you said you're sure there's
people that companies that can remedy that, and I'd really
like to find one because even if I approach the
people around us, I need to kind of have some time.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Okay, hold on a second, I got to take this break.

This is the Troubleshooter Show. No Tom Martino.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Hey Tom Martino here, Welcome to the show. Deputy d
in the house here, Major Mark Major at the main
studio with his guest man Mark, take it away, what's gout?

Speaker 5 (35:36):
Well, it's carda three oh three seven one three eight
two five five. Of course we're doing everything else we do, uh,
going after the bad guys and helping people out. We
got a list of people on referral lists that are
absolutely amazing. The other thing with Rocky, I wanted to
mention I would still call up what is a Terran construction?

Speaker 3 (35:55):
Am I saying that right now? Terarn construction on our
referral list?

Speaker 5 (35:59):
I mean, this guy be able to go out there
and at least eyeball what needs to be done. But
I was reading a lot about ditches, and I don't
think you can legally just start stopping people's water flow
in the ditch in Colorado. That might end you might
end up in trouble by doing that. Rocky hear me, yeah,

(36:20):
go ahea.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Yeah, we can hear you.

Speaker 10 (36:22):
No, no, thank you. I kind of that's kind of
how I feel with it. And I will tell you, guys,
number one, you solved a problem for me two years ago.
I seem to have the honest problems. But I was
the guy that the post office refused to deliver to
you because they said you can't have to odds. This
is the United States. Do you remember that?

Speaker 5 (36:38):
Oh yeah, I remember that call. Hi, Rocky, I didn't
realized how did that? How did that turn out? That
peaked my curiosity?

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Rocky is your last name? You have a weird sounding
last name?

Speaker 12 (36:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (36:53):
What about if somebody's deep in the post office and
she dicksed it and I tell you it was kind
of some arguments and what everybody, you guys got to fix.
You guys need to have magic pixus sometimes when nobody
else does, And it's kind of what I was hoping
for this.

Speaker 11 (37:09):
I'm good we could help and the post Office was
actually really great to work with in that matter.

Speaker 10 (37:15):
Yeah, it sounds like you got right true to somebody.

Speaker 5 (37:18):
You know what, just because we helped him out last time,
I want to go out of our way to help
him out this time. Dmitri, I want you to grab
a shovel and start heading to Ford Counts.

Speaker 11 (37:28):
Well, you know, I was thinking about doing that because Rocky,
I don't understand why you think you have to go
through the floor. If the fact that it's a cabin
implies that it's got a very small footprint, can't you
just burrow in from the side instead of ruining your
seven feet.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
It's only thirty seven feet thirty seven feet, man, it was.

Speaker 10 (37:47):
If there was supposed to one side or the other
be easier, but it just almost magically right in the middle.
And I spoke yesterday to a culvert manufacturing company up
here in Greeley.

Speaker 12 (37:58):
It used to be big now.

Speaker 10 (37:59):
Our manufacturing, but somebody else, and they, honestly, they didn't
have in many solutions either. He's the one that said
you might have to take part of the floor out,
put a sleeve in concrete over it to seal the
V sleeve kind of like Tom was talking about, a
little tiny bit smaller, but it would fit through the
existing culvert. But I have to get that obstruction removed

(38:21):
before I can. We didn't do much of anything.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Yeah, So anyway, I think I'll call your guy on
the referral list, but I get to talk.

Speaker 5 (38:32):
To him, but you might be able to send him
a couple of pictures. But the guy's a whiz with
any kind of foundation issue.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
And that's basically what you got right.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
No, it is a foundation issue, that's true.

Speaker 10 (38:45):
It's an odd thing. And I don't know why they
go up it that way, And honestly, I don't know
why my parents bought it that way, but this is
what I'm suck with.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
Yeah, I mean they bought it.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
What did They must have known it was there when
they bought it, right, they did.

Speaker 10 (38:58):
And I don't think my parents it was the big
issue and it hadn't been for I mean they bought
it in eighty eight, hadn't been an issue for thirty
years it did.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
Now, Okay, just let us know what our guy says.
That's the best we can do, just right now. Three
h three seven one three talks seven one three eight
two five five. Did we have a comment on that
as well? I think somebody wanted to comment on it.
Let me try to get to it if I can.

(39:27):
I'm trying to get to my people here. Yo, Deputy
Bow had to comment. Deputy Bow, what were you going
to say on that?

Speaker 9 (39:34):
Yeah, I know a little bit about a ditches. I
have a ditch that runs from my property and he
could get in trouble. Three blocks it off. But what
Rocky could do is contact the.

Speaker 13 (39:46):
State Water Court Darren Greeley.

Speaker 9 (39:49):
It's a separate courthouse just for water issues. And I
can tell you even though it's a band in the water.
Water ditches is very valuable to commodity. And I'm sure
if they're out of business or change hands them. Sure
that easemant got assigned to somebody, And if he wants,
I could help him with that, because I know the

(40:10):
ditch rider.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
Why do you think he got assigned it? Why do
you think he got assigned to somebody?

Speaker 9 (40:15):
Well, water, it's traveling through a ditch. Water is a
valuable commodity. What do they say, whiskey is for drinking
and waters for killing.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
I mean, yeah, but it sounds like just a bunch
of neighbors got together and had a ditch. This guy
built his cabin, and then the dish company just over
the years just dissolved.

Speaker 9 (40:37):
Well, what they did is is probably dug a lateral
line from the main ditch. And if the neighbors got
together and dug a lateral from the main dish, then
they could certainly if that's true, then he could certainly
just plug it off with no issue. And then the
dish company would probably like that because they would get
more cube because the minute down the main ditch.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Yeah, but it's not one of those ditches bo, it's
a localized ditch. He said, I don't think it goes
to like It's not one of these ones where you
buy ditch rights along the way and it goes like
a mile. Didn't you say, Rocky, it was just a
little local community that runs it.

Speaker 3 (41:16):
I think he might have hung up right now, bo.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
I think you got it's not one of these major
irrigation ditches where you buy rights to the ditch. It's
not like what you're thinking. And the ditch company, as
I understood it, were just a few homes on it
and they got together and did this ditch for irrigation.

Speaker 3 (41:39):
So I don't know. It's just a mess.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
And you know, gonna he's gonna have an expense on
his hands for sure, because they're gonna say.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
I know, they're going to say, we're not fixing.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
If we have to dig up your concrete floor, we're
not fixing it. So you know, and many times these
things happen on on just like mining claims, not real.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
I don't know if their deeds or not. They're like
mining claims.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
You know, these cabins hunting cabins people buy and they
run into problems. Anyway, Thank you both, three oh three
seven one three Talk seven one three eight two five five.
For some reason, I'm getting a bunch of texts here,
so I wanted to let you know that I will
get to your text but we'd rather you call if
you can. And that's three oh three seven one three

(42:27):
talk three oh three seven one three eight two five
five or three oh three Martino three oh three six
two seven eight four six six. By the way, somebody
did say, you know, Tom, you were talking about diseases
and making fun of the media and how they're on it.
Did you hear about the new flesh eating fly. It's
actually not a fly. It's a larva that gets into meat.

(42:49):
It is real, and they found one I think one
a livestock one head uh affected by this. So what
happens is this flesh eating larva which turns into a worm.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
It has to lay eggs.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
In the meat, okay, for it to contaminate the meat. People,
you get it by these same larva coming to you
and spreading to you. It's not necessarily spread through the
meat itself, so you have to actually be in contact
with these flies that lay this, that lay this larva.

(43:32):
Grib But I'm sorry, but people want to know about it.
It's a it's a So if you have a wound
or a cut or anything like that, they have to
contaminate it. Here here, let me just this shortcut of here.
The chances of this flesh eating thing getting into the
population are next to nothing. Okay, they fly, they lay eggs. Sometimes,

(43:55):
if you're camping, you might they might lay an egg
in your nose or ear or mouth or some body opening.
And that's how it starts. And then you get this
flesh eating disease.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Chooses when an orifice.

Speaker 2 (44:07):
That's exactly right, or what I call that's right, that's
exactly what it is.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
It's basically a maggot. Yeah, it's larva, I guess.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
Yeah, yeah, okay, so it is a maggot, I guess
you could call it.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
And in any case, it's not contagious for diet.

Speaker 5 (44:26):
Sometimes, what are those things people eat? Oh, tapeworms. Don't
people eat tapeworms to try.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
To lose weight?

Speaker 2 (44:32):
Hell no, that would be pretty easy. Wait a minute,
you're saying they actually do it on purpose to lose weight.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
Yes, yeah, that would be nuts.

Speaker 11 (44:43):
Yeah, well, I don't recommend this plan, but people do
actually do that.

Speaker 2 (44:48):
Okay, So it's a flesh eating fly that lays eggs
and you have to be contaminated by the fly. It
doesn't go from person to person. So the biggest ca
concern is basically not being around where the outbreaks are
and controlling the flies. And that's at the feed lot,

(45:08):
so we don't have to worry about that. So that's
not something where you're gonna wear your mask when you're
out jogging and ward it off. Okay, so you don't
have to pull out your mask. I know you're you
can't wait. You can't wait to wear that mask. I
swear to God, I know people. Do you know people
to this day still wearing masks. Oh them all the time.

Speaker 3 (45:27):
See them downtown every day, walking along or driving.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
Alone in their car with their mask on, or or
running running in the park and they have a mask on.
What they're protecting themselves from. I don't know, because it's
they're not protecting themselves from their own stupidity.

Speaker 5 (45:44):
So the tapeworm diet, you swallow pills her cursed cysts
cysts containing containing tapeworm larvae. Once in the gut, the
worm matures, attaches it's to the intestinal wall.

Speaker 3 (46:01):
Oh my god.

Speaker 5 (46:02):
It feeds on the host's digestive food.

Speaker 3 (46:06):
Then when do you get how do you get rid
of them?

Speaker 2 (46:08):
Then?

Speaker 3 (46:09):
I don't think they thought that part out. I don't know.
I'd rather spring for the gop one shots.

Speaker 2 (46:15):
That's probably a little safer. God, this is crazy. Three
oh three seven one three Talk seven one three eight
two five to five. Mike has a follow up and
James has a comment on water. Let's get that comment
on water first, James, what's your comment on water?

Speaker 14 (46:30):
Her Tom good to hear from you again. Hey, live
in your favorite county? Worforeno county They had.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
Worth I remember Worth for Oh yeah, I made fun
of Worth for Oh that was fun.

Speaker 3 (46:40):
A long time ago.

Speaker 14 (46:43):
They had a spring in the western part of that
county that fed in half the people of the county.
Water it was they could date it back in eighteen seventy.
Somebody complained about that ditch. The water commission shut it
down because ColorOS is strict on water. If he can't
prove whose water, that is, where that water comes from,

(47:04):
and he gets the commission involved, they'll shut that water off.
I guarantee you that's how they work.

Speaker 3 (47:10):
I think are what the.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
Guy said, he said they would, you know, so back
in the day, there was a guy that was ripping
people off, and he lived in Worthino County and or
Worthino County was ripping. Something happened, and I said, I
was gonna call county a county seat or the building
or the capitol, or whatever the hell you call it.
And I called to talk to the county commissioner in

(47:31):
charge or the count count the manager, whoever it was.
And I swear to god, it sounded like I was
calling some guy on his cattle ranch. And I often
made fun of it, and I made.

(49:04):
with Major Mark Major. We got Jeff Vick Kimber transmission.
Kevin call can share it an auto tech. Mike's got
a follow up. I'm not sure what he's calling about.
Let me find this call Mike. What's going on in
your life? What's happening?

Speaker 13 (49:17):
Hig morning guys, Thanks for taking my call again, Yes, sir, yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
Took my Is this the transmission? Is this the transmission? Yeah?

Speaker 13 (49:28):
Yeah, I took I got called back just a little
bit ago.

Speaker 3 (49:32):
Okay, this is a two thousand.

Speaker 2 (49:34):
This is a twenty seventeen f one fifty ten speed transmission.
You had it rebuilt for six grand and they can't
seem to get it right.

Speaker 3 (49:44):
You took it back three times.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
Jeff Vick waited on this before and said, you know,
he has no idea what could be wrong?

Speaker 3 (49:52):
What did you What have you found out so far? Mike?
Is it back at the shop? Where is it? No?

Speaker 13 (49:58):
I still have it to take it to another shop
for a second opinion. They pull the codes on it.
I managed to get the light back on. It was
a gear ten incorrect ratio. It indicates the TCM detective
transmission is slipping or failing to fully engage tenth gear.

(50:21):
It's a harsh, jerky shifting check engine or wrench warning
light comes on, loss of power and unexpected engine reaving.
It also starts out in fifth gear. When I'm at
a stoplight, it won't it won't shift down the second
or first gear. I got to turn the truck completely
off to get it to reset.

Speaker 3 (50:40):
Jeff, what do you think is going on?

Speaker 8 (50:43):
Well, I mean it could if he's getting an incorrect
ratio in test. That's basically the computer saying I'm seeing
a slip and so it's getting scared and it's going
to default solutions.

Speaker 3 (50:54):
Yeah. See, so what does he do.

Speaker 8 (50:58):
Well without me taking it apart. I don't know what
the actual issue is. I mean, it's obviously internal. They
built it. Sounds like they built it into the unit.
I'm not saying that, you know, they intentionally did anything wrong,
but you know, something's not gone right even getting you know,
and we've talked about this before. If the quality control
of parts themselves can be an issue, this could be
a manufacturers problem.

Speaker 15 (51:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (51:20):
My invoice says it was a installed, rebuilt transmission. So
the shop they just picked it up and from a
you know, rebuilt facility or Ford or wherever, and they
just put it in the truck. They didn't do it.

Speaker 8 (51:33):
And I think we mentioned it before at that price point,
I don't know what the heck they got that unity.

Speaker 2 (51:39):
Yeah, sixth grade you said, that's pretty difficult to rebuild.

Speaker 8 (51:42):
That yourself, and that'd be way on the bottom end.
And if they didn't build it in house, then you
know they obviously they bought a unit markup ar.

Speaker 2 (51:50):
So what are they saying. Are they saying, toss, this
is what you get? I mean, what are they actually saying?

Speaker 13 (51:56):
Well, the shop ram transmission gave me a one hundred
thousand miles one on this unit. Yeah, it's my primary vehicle.
They won't help me with the rental. You know, it's
been there three times already. The second time they said
it was the uh trying to think of the name
of the park they had to put in. And then
the third time they they did a software update, is

(52:17):
what they say. They're having problems with the software from Ford.
So they did that after the third time, sent me
on my way, and it's still doing the same thing.
Do I go back a fourth time? Or do I
go to a small plane sport? At this point, I.

Speaker 2 (52:31):
Know I wouldn't go back, and fourth time, I mean
I wouldn't. Why bother they're not They're not doing anything.
They just don't know what the problem is. Is that
it in a nutshell? They just don't know.

Speaker 13 (52:46):
That's what I'm thinking. I'm wasting a lot of my time.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
Well take it somewhere else, Jeff, Would you be able
to analyze it or is it taken all apart now?

Speaker 3 (52:54):
Mike? Is it taking a part or not?

Speaker 13 (52:57):
No, I'm driving it. It's just giving me these problems.
I can't even go see my son.

Speaker 3 (53:02):
If he drove in.

Speaker 2 (53:03):
If he drove in with all these problems, what would
you do?

Speaker 8 (53:06):
You know, just given the history on this one, I
don't know, I'd probably end up scrapping the unit that's
come out of it. I don't know what all they've
built into there, what all they've changed. We'd probably actually
source another unit from forward that's going to be more expensive,
you know, like I say, depending.

Speaker 2 (53:21):
On So he gets nothing for this one, this one
has zero value.

Speaker 8 (53:24):
He would have to go back and I mean, you know, yes,
you're going to spend more money, you know, and all
you can really get back from this other transmission shop.

Speaker 4 (53:31):
Is what you paid them.

Speaker 3 (53:33):
So you're still going to.

Speaker 8 (53:34):
Be out of pocket over and above even if you
recover the whatever you paid them.

Speaker 13 (53:41):
Okay, yeah, I looked at the loss for small claims
Corn It's like seventy one hundred is the maid.

Speaker 4 (53:46):
I charged you with?

Speaker 3 (53:47):
Six that's all you can You can go out for
them for.

Speaker 2 (53:51):
You can go after him for this for you didn't
get any value. How much did you spend total with
them so far?

Speaker 13 (53:58):
It was over six thousand, but I mean I had
to rent a couple of cars, time off of work.
I mean, this is this has cost me quite a bit.

Speaker 2 (54:07):
I'm not sure how much of that other damage you
can get but you can certainly go for it, so,
you know, but you need to do a small claims court.
They absolutely, I mean, what I don't believe is that
it's not working and they're not saying anything to you.
They're not offering your money back. Are they saying we

(54:29):
have to try again. Are they willing to try again
or are they just throwing up their hands?

Speaker 13 (54:36):
While the owner, Tony, he told me to bring it
back next Tuesday. I told him do to get off
of work till about three thirty in the afternoon, and
he said, well, you could drop it off, drop the
key off, and we'll we'll have it, you know, probably
a few days. But they're they're going to try to
do it again, fix it again. But this is the
fourth time now you know, it's it's a major inconvenience

(54:56):
for me.

Speaker 3 (54:59):
What do you okay? So they did they buy it
this unit?

Speaker 8 (55:03):
Why why doesn't he reach out to whoever they bought
it from and get it replaced.

Speaker 3 (55:08):
Out for six grand? How did he do it?

Speaker 12 (55:13):
I'm sorry?

Speaker 3 (55:14):
How did he do it? How much would that cost? Jeff?

Speaker 8 (55:17):
Like I say, I mean, if I go to Ford
buy a unit, uh, you know, depending on you know
his package and whatnot. Yeah, those things, you know, you're
looking between nine and about ten to five.

Speaker 3 (55:29):
Wow, yes, did they what did?

Speaker 2 (55:32):
Is this a used transmission they bought.

Speaker 13 (55:36):
It must have been, it says we manufactured on the receipt.

Speaker 3 (55:40):
Yeah, it sounds like used to me.

Speaker 13 (55:43):
And it's also got a transmission leak. There's a fluid
leak on it now too. I got to point that
out when I take it to him on Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
Okay, you're still going to work with him, Go ahead
and work with him, but man, this time around, they
got to be able to fix it.

Speaker 3 (55:59):
You I have a warranty for how long?

Speaker 13 (56:02):
One hundred thousand miles is what he said he'd warrant
you for it says it has on my wing voice than.

Speaker 3 (56:08):
One hundred thousand miles.

Speaker 2 (56:12):
Yeah, all right, Well, what good is one hundred thousand
mile warranty if they can't fix it?

Speaker 3 (56:17):
Though?

Speaker 13 (56:18):
So let's many times when I have to come back.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
Yeah, that's the problem.

Speaker 2 (56:23):
And by the way, you know, rentals and stuff, they're
not going to be responsible for that.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
They just aren't.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
No warranty company pays for rental cars in any of
that stuff. You know, they have courtesy cars but I
wouldn't waste my time on that. Just try to get
the damn thing fixed. Listen, I'd be anxious to see
what happens when when I'd like to know what they
say this next time, let us know, keep us informed.

(56:50):
I have it marked down here, and see what they're
going to do for you.

Speaker 3 (56:54):
And then let us know.

Speaker 2 (56:55):
Three zero three seven one to three talks seven one
three eight two five five Warren, you got a real
quick question on scrapping a transmission or a car.

Speaker 3 (57:05):
Which one is it? What do you need to know?

Speaker 16 (57:08):
I got a piece of crap Nissan CenTra, the transmission one.

Speaker 15 (57:13):
I've called you on it before.

Speaker 12 (57:15):
I'm to the.

Speaker 16 (57:15):
Point I've only one thousand now, so I'm gonna try
to get it paid off. But I just want to
know where to scrap it.

Speaker 3 (57:23):
You literally, you literally want to scrap it.

Speaker 2 (57:25):
You want to throw it out, the whole car.

Speaker 16 (57:29):
It's not worth spending eight to ten grand for a
new transmission that's going to fail again in another.

Speaker 10 (57:34):
Fifty thousand miles, so.

Speaker 16 (57:38):
I wish, okay do a recall or something, but they won't.
It's in twenty seventeen. Nissan CenTra. I've called you about
it before.

Speaker 3 (57:46):
But yeah, so what does he do with the guys?

Speaker 6 (57:50):
You can throw it up on Facebook or something and
just tell them these transmissions see what you can get on.

Speaker 8 (57:54):
I mean even easier than that. There's so many of
these donation sites. Sure, you just call them up, they come,
and they come get the car for you. Ye, so
you don't ever take it anywhere. They just pick it
up and they'll generally write some drivable right.

Speaker 9 (58:07):
Nos, the transmission is gone in it?

Speaker 2 (58:12):
Oh okay, okay, well that's yeah. And you just want
out of it. You say, you're upside down. Do you
have a loan on it?

Speaker 16 (58:22):
I do, and I'm almost paid off, though I only
have a thousand dollars left. I've been paying extra on
it every month to try to just get.

Speaker 10 (58:29):
Rid of it.

Speaker 3 (58:29):
Oh man, what a drag that is.

Speaker 2 (58:33):
Yeah, guys, that wouldn't have any scrap value at all.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
I mean it's literally it's crush weight.

Speaker 4 (58:41):
I mean a couple hundred bucks.

Speaker 8 (58:43):
Yeah, I mean if you get you know, we buy
jump cars, you'll probably get to you know, like he says, two, three,
maybe four hundred bucks for it. You know, a couple
of years ago that had a little bit more value.
Because it was a huge push for the catalytic converters.

Speaker 16 (58:56):
I don't think we're spending the money on a transmission
for it's.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
Right, right, you might be right. I don't know if
it is or not. How many miles on the whole thing.

Speaker 9 (59:08):
Just a little over a Hunters that's it.

Speaker 6 (59:11):
You may put it up. Guys will just tell people
transmission as is.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
Yeah, there might be somebody who will do a transmission
for it. That's what I would do. Facebook Marketplace, they're
used to junk. Just tell them what it needs, be
honest with them and tell them it's free. For God's sakes,
what I mean. I'm sure that someone who knows how
to do some work might pick that up and put
a tranny in it.

Speaker 3 (59:34):
So that's that's probably what I would do.

Speaker 2 (59:37):

Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
Two five five.

Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
Okay, So basically we've had any number of problems when
it comes to transmissions, and for some reason, Jeff, it
gets down to where the same pattern I've looked at
I filtered some transmission problems and they all filter down

(01:01:08):
to the same type of thing where the shop simply
can't find the problem. Well, why it's not magic, is it?
I mean, what is it that they're not doing? In
general when you troubleshoot a transmission, are their problems you
just can't fix? They hide or the origination or the

(01:01:33):
problem is not is not evident what do you think, Jeff?
You know what?

Speaker 3 (01:01:38):
Tom andsues here and all three guys have stepped out running.
Oh here comes Jeff. He's listening. Go ahead. I was
just curious, So what do they do in there?

Speaker 8 (01:01:49):
You were asking if there are problems you just can't find?
Is that what you said?

Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
Yeah? Yeah, Like what is it that they're doing that
they can't fix it?

Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
What is it?

Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
Today?

Speaker 8 (01:01:58):
Sometimes you do get one that's just problem for you.
I mean it happens to everybody, and not just in
the transmission industry. I'm sure you know every shop has
had that problem.

Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
Child.

Speaker 3 (01:02:06):
You just can't seem to get to go away.

Speaker 8 (01:02:09):
Uh you know, I mean you can go anywhere from
you know, bad diagnostics, overlooking things. Uh you know a
lot of times it's the simplest answer and you've just
gone right past it and you're working on a more
complicated problem that you don't need to be touching.

Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
Transmissions themselves, they don't have diagnostic ports, right, you go
to the main diagnostic ORB two.

Speaker 8 (01:02:31):
So you know, so you're going to be obviously, like
you said, looking at codes and whatnot. But that's only
a starting point. So then you get into graphing and
we go over and we're actually watching the transmission work.
When when it receives a command, how does it respond
to the command?

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (01:02:46):
You know, if you know something like a torque invert clutch,
if it's being commanded for an ad rpm slip, and
you know we're seeing spikes going up and down and
up and down and up and down. Well, we've got
a mechanical problem there that we have to attack.

Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
So the Walter, let's let's take Walter real quick with
your ninety three tourists. Will at least get these guys
thinking about it. And I got to take a break.
What's going on with your ninety three four tourists?

Speaker 3 (01:03:11):
Walter?

Speaker 17 (01:03:12):
Well, right now, it's it's not shifting out of park. Oh,
I start the engine and whatnot. It won't shift back.
But it's got a two click thing. If you click
the first click on the ignition or whatnot and then
put it in neutral, then it will start.

Speaker 8 (01:03:34):
So I, oh, so you can't get it to start
in pardon they can't get it to start in park?

Speaker 17 (01:03:42):
Well, if it'll start, but it won't go into park.

Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
So wait a minute, how do you start it? Do
you start it in park or do you start it
in neutral.

Speaker 17 (01:03:55):
Well it will, it'll it'll start, but it won't go
into park.

Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
There's just rolls away anywhere.

Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
But when you're starting it, what are you in? When
you're starting it, if it's not in park.

Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
What are you in?

Speaker 17 (01:04:10):
Well, that's what I'm saying about. The strange thing about
it is the first click on the ignition. If I
click that, then I put it in neutral, It'll okay,
Then I can okay work.

Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
You know what he's talking about. Guys, Let's take this break.

Hey, I'm Tom Martino.

Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
We are fighting for you when we're not ordering peace

with a nineteen ninety three four tourist having issues like this,
he said, And again, Jeff, did you understand? Or Kevin,
did you understand the sequence of events? He says that

(01:05:53):
he gets it started but can't put it into park.
And I don't understand that because I thought I had
to be in part to get dark.

Speaker 8 (01:06:00):
And started in park or but I'm trying to picture
exactly what it is he's doing or having a problem with.
I'm just not grasping that.

Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
Yeah, and does it happen all day Walter, or just
the first time.

Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
You do it?

Speaker 10 (01:06:14):
Well?

Speaker 17 (01:06:14):
That I can get it started once I hit the
first click, then I shift out of park into neutral.
Then then I can go into the other to drive
or reverse or whatever. But it has to that first
click has to has to shift it down, so it's
got to be the the leakage there someplace I would.

Speaker 6 (01:06:37):
Yeah, there's a shift interlock that'll keep you from coming
out of gear and different things. Probably just something in
the swits, either adjustment or a new sweat one or.

Speaker 9 (01:06:45):
The other break las which have anything.

Speaker 17 (01:06:47):
To do with that.

Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
Yes, well it does, guys.

Speaker 6 (01:06:51):
Yeah, Yeah, that's the shift interlock. It's actuated by the
break brake.

Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Pedal, so it wants to make sure you have the
brake on when you switch gear, yes, from park.

Speaker 6 (01:07:00):
Correct and then you know, by putting it in new two,
you're bypassing that so you can get into the other gear.

Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
And I've all been wondered about this.

Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
There are safeties if you're driving along, so you can't
shift it into reverse, right.

Speaker 8 (01:07:12):
Yeah, they're not supposed to. If you're doing anything over
about three miles an hour, they're supposed to have a
shift inhibit.

Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
Okay, and the same with park putting it into park.

Speaker 8 (01:07:22):
Once again, there's supposed to be a shift in hibbit.
The theory is you don't do that though.

Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Okay, So Walter, it doesn't sound like a big deal.

Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
Were you trying to fix it yourself?

Speaker 17 (01:07:34):
No, uh uh, Kevin's U Is it a cold Fax
with Wardsworth?

Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
Yeah, it's west, just west of Wosworth.

Speaker 17 (01:07:44):
Yes, okay, so three oh three four five five seven
two four to two persont yep, okay, Well i'll bring
it down. I'll give you a call first.

Speaker 18 (01:07:53):
I did.

Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
Oh, thank you very much, Walter. I appreciate that. Three
O three seven one three eight two five to five.
So I have a list here if I can find
it that I looked up and they they're coming out
with the bad cars for this year already.

Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
I'm trying to.

Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
Find the the worst, not the worst cars, but the
cars with the most complaints this year so far.

Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
And let me just say, oh, here it is.

Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
Here's the thing I don't understand why electronics give people
such a hard time. Is it that they're making the
cars so complicated nowadays? Or is it the learning curve?
Is it the operator? Is what I want to know.

Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
Do you think a lot of this is the operator?

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
And then they're just complaining because they don't understand it.

Speaker 8 (01:08:46):
No, I mean there's some legitimate complaints out there. You know,
you're just the constant joke about what mechanics think of engineers.

Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
But there is a lot.

Speaker 8 (01:08:55):
Although the vehicle itself is better than they used to be,
they seem to not take that extra step for the
quality control.

Speaker 3 (01:09:03):
Yeah okay. Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Speaker 2 (01:09:07):
So far for twenty twenty six has the worst record
so far for issues. Chronic electrical issues, below average reliability,
numerous recalls, ongoing safety investigations, and a recent airbag recall

(01:09:27):
affecting four hundred and nineteen thousand vehicles the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
So what do you guys think? Do you see a
lot of them? Well, if they're new, they're going to
go back for warranty work. But what do you think
of them as a vehicle.

Speaker 8 (01:09:42):
Well, Jeep has always been a mainstay as far as
making your sure your wallet stays full.

Speaker 3 (01:09:48):
Yeah, I know, and people swear by them.

Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
This is the Troubleshooter Show.

Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
No Tom Marcino, Hey Tom Martina here, welcome to the show.
We got car data at the studio, Major Mark Major.
Who do we got going on? What have we got
going on?

Speaker 15 (01:11:04):
Vick?

Speaker 5 (01:11:04):
And of course we have shared an autotech Kevin cok
in with us and we're taking all of your car
calls along.

Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
With everything else.

Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
I also got Suzanne here, We got a full house
dragons on the other side.

Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
And then of.

Speaker 5 (01:11:17):
Course acts man, did you find that pizza? Did that
pizza ever get delivered?

Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
Yeah? Yeah, the pizza. The pizza was delivered.

Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
I'll never forget the one time though, that the person
couldn't find the house. I know they couldn't because I
saw him driving all over the place on that little map.
And then I get a picture of a box, literally,
a pizza box, a picture of a box from overhead.

Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
It's like that.

Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
It could have been on Mars. You know, they're supposed
to show the address or something. But one thing I
have to mention, and the lady.

Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
Said it wasn't her fault, it was GPS's fault. Yeah,
she said, that's right, we're the pin center. And I said, okay, okay, So.

Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Therefore no one's going to eat it. It's for the squirrels.
And here's the thing though, I like about I never
realized this. With door Dash, it's very easy to get
your money back.

Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
You just complain and they credit you immediately.

Speaker 2 (01:12:14):
I mean, I wonder how many people do that and cheat,
you know, because they they really don't ask unless they
checked out that delivery photo and they saw there was
no reason to contest it because it was a picture
of a pizza box. In fact, she could use that
box for the rest of her deliveries.

Speaker 1 (01:12:32):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
I always find that funny how they take a picture
of the delivery. Obviously, I think the delivery has to
have some context.

Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
You know, your front door, your.

Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
Address, your sidewalk, something recognizable, not just a picture of
a box like, oh, here's the box it was delivered.
So what do you do in a case like most
of the time, I would say with a ninety I'm
going back to this nine three four tourists that those

(01:13:03):
shifters get old, don't they get old? And the little
micro switches get old. And I mean that's an old car, yep.

Speaker 6 (01:13:10):
Right, Cable stretches, bushings, wear out, all kinds of stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
And then yeah, and all of that has to be
meshing for it to start and switch gears, right, and.

Speaker 8 (01:13:19):
Now you have the problem that it's a nineteen ninety
three Ford Taurus and there's not a whole lot of
parts you know, support for that.

Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
Nope, you know that is that is something. Let's talk
about that in general. As far as manufacturers go literally
manufactured parts or even after market parts that are manufactured,
how old do they get? I don't think they ever
go beyond ten years?

Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
Do they?

Speaker 17 (01:13:45):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (01:13:45):
Yeah, they definitely go beyond ten years, you do, a
lot of it just depends on the popularity of a
particular part or car, you know. Obviously, I mean you
can still go out and get something for a nineteen
sixty seven Mustang, But if you try the same thing
for a Pinto, you're gonna have a lot less luck.

Speaker 3 (01:13:59):
Okay, got it. It depends on the car.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
But in most run, run of the mill production cars,
how long can you depend on a factory for parts?

Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
Do you think the factory less than ten years?

Speaker 3 (01:14:12):
Okay, then after market a little longer?

Speaker 8 (01:14:15):
Oh yeah, I mean right now, we're still getting stuff
for vehicles. We're back in the eighties and nineties. It
just really depends on the vehicle you're working on. You know,
a two thousand and two Volvo Automatic, I'm not going
to be able to get all the parts I need
in order to actually rebuild that thing.

Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
And that's where the salvage yards come in.

Speaker 8 (01:14:34):
Right Well, even then, if you're getting a transmission for
a two thousand and two, it's a two thousand and two,
and anything you find is going to be loaded with miles.

Speaker 2 (01:14:42):
Now, if you do get a transmission from a salvage yard,
what about the parts inside of a transmission. Are they
all proprietary for that specific transmission or are there any
gears or any things that can be interplace you know
that can be used.

Speaker 8 (01:14:57):
There's very little of the can be taken out of
one transmission and used in a different model of a transmission.
So you know, in the same respect to you know,
if you've got two Turbo three fifties, you know GM's
favorite transmission for a lot of years. Almost everything in
there can slop case to case.

Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
Okay, by the way, not sure if somebody was listening
to this on the air off the air, because we
talk off the air and were streamed off the air.

Speaker 3 (01:15:23):
But Mark was.

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Right that people do eat tapeworms for diets. Now, come on,
do you actually buy them? You buy baby tapeworms and
you eat them for your diet. That's with this, So Mark,
you were talking about that. Where what I want to
know is where do you find the tapeworms?

Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
Where do you find the whole foods? Oh? You come on?
What in a jar?

Speaker 4 (01:15:54):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
I don't know where you find them?

Speaker 5 (01:15:56):
Probably okay, quack that sells a red light therapy to people.

Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
Yeah. True.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
Now, this guy says was this guy with the cabin
and the culvert got a lot of texts. Basically they're saying, look,
all he has to do is divert the water around
the cabin and and it's good.

Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
He doesn't have to put in a culvert.

Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
He just has to dig a ditch around the cabin
for the water to go when it's being used again.
I say that no one should have to, you know,
should have to maintain that singly. That should be a
community thing. Just a community thing. So uh three O

(01:16:40):
three seven one three eight two five five. Got some
a few car questions here. I think I'm going to them.
I'm trying to find them from today. I just had
some texts. Okay, here we go, got it. Okay, this
is not for the car. Okay, what's the what the company? Okay?
Have we had any luck getting extended warranties to cover

(01:17:04):
something when they first said no?

Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
They made the car experts.

Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
Have you guys had people when they say no because
they have an issue and they want to know, what
did you do to get them to change their mind?

Speaker 6 (01:17:17):
It depends on the decline. I mean, if the decline
was due to something that somebody said, you can't undo that.
So in other words, if somebody says that, yeah, I
overheated the car seven times and they decline it, you're done.
You can't go backwards on that. So It just depends
on the facts and the reasoning. That's you know, they're
all different, every one of them.

Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
Okay, and Kevin, if somebody buys the car as is
and they take it to you, say so, you're going
to go through and you're going to tell them what's
wrong with the car, what kind of codes have been cleared,
and basically what to look out for. They can still
buy it as is, but you're they're going to at

(01:17:59):
least know what that means because they want to know.
They want first of all, here's what they want to know. SHO,
Should I buy a car as is and take it
over to Kevin? Here's the thing, really and truly, if
you don't buy a car as is, the only warranty
that counts anyway would be the factory warranty. So even
if somebody says to you one of these buy your

(01:18:20):
pay here or these other shlock dealers, they say, you
have a thirty day warranty, unless it's a return warranty.
What good is a warranty. It's not like in manufacturer's warranty.
I mean, Kevin, if I take a car into you
and I said I bought it down at Joe Schmoe's Place.
And I have a thirty day warranty. What does that
mean to you?

Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
Nothing?

Speaker 6 (01:18:41):
And it's thirty days but no pre existing condition. So
they're all pre existing at that point exactly. So instead
of buying it as is with a thirty day warranty,
check it, then buy it as is with a thirty exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
That's the point I'm trying to make, is that every
used car purchase should be looked at as an as
is purse, every.

Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
One of them.

Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
That's the way you should view them, and then you
should have them checked out as if they're as is.
Don't depend on any warranty giving you by these shlock dealers.
And I call them shlock. I'm just talking about just
holding the wall dealers. They don't stand behind these warranties
or the warranties that they sell you. Those warranties suck.
You hear them on the radio all the time, you

(01:19:27):
hear them on TV all the time. Don't buy these
extended warranties or these service contracts. You know, I love
where they say at the end, never pay for a
covered repair again. You know, get that covered repair. And
what is a covered repair. Well, you're gonna have to
go some to get a covered repair, because they're gonna
blame everything else under the sun.

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
First, the normal wear and tear they're gonna blame.

Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Then they're gonna blame something like a pre existing condition,
or they're going to blame owner abuse or lack of maintenance.
These are the same old songs over.

Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
And over and over.

Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
They know that most people aren't gonna have their records
to fight them. So I'd like to know, truly how
many people have had truly big repairs done, no questions asked,
and had and really really made out with one of
these pre existing not pre existing one of these extended
warranties or service contracts.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
That's what I'd like to know.

Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Mike, you have a comment on a taxi cab from
a concert. I don't know if anybody takes taxis anymore.
I thought they all took ride share. In fact, I'm
shocked that taxis are still around.

Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
Mike. What is your comment?

Speaker 19 (01:20:42):
Yes, don Yeah, I took out my wife out to
the Morgan Wallen concert and after the concert there.

Speaker 9 (01:20:50):
Are taxis still out there.

Speaker 19 (01:20:52):
The first one we asked for he would refuse to
give us a ride to Highlands Ranch. The second one
we got into and he didn't even put it the meter.
He demanded two hundred and fifty dollars for the ride.

Speaker 3 (01:21:03):
What where were you going?

Speaker 19 (01:21:05):
He did Island's Range from from the stadium.

Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
No wait wait wait wait wait from Highland's Ranch from
the stupid you were going home?

Speaker 3 (01:21:17):
Yes, from the stadium.

Speaker 2 (01:21:20):
Meter.

Speaker 19 (01:21:21):
It was a meter taxi cab and he didn't put
it in the meter. He wanted two hundred and fifty
dollars cash.

Speaker 3 (01:21:26):
Well, would you do ride home? I got out. I
wasn't fifty dollars.

Speaker 5 (01:21:32):
I bet when uber Surge is coming out of like
a football game, the brothers eive. I bet it's two
to four hundred bucks all day long. Yep, oh come
on really yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:21:47):
The point I'd be saying is that it was a
it was a meter taxi. He didn't put it into
the meter, and he wanted cash.

Speaker 3 (01:21:53):
I mean, it's just shady yourself.

Speaker 12 (01:21:55):
Well, did you get his taxi ID number or something
to report it?

Speaker 19 (01:22:00):
I just we just got out of it, and you know,
we did to get home the.

Speaker 9 (01:22:04):
Light rail, but it's just light reil.

Speaker 13 (01:22:08):
Wow.

Speaker 9 (01:22:09):
So I just wanted to share.

Speaker 10 (01:22:10):
I just wanted to share that.

Speaker 19 (01:22:11):
It's like, you know, the day and age, you think
that you know, they would know better, especially with their
control by the PUC, you know, I mean they're not
supposed to do that.

Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Well.

Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
How was the Morgan Wallen concert?

Speaker 18 (01:22:22):
Was it good?

Speaker 19 (01:22:24):
It was awesome, great, you know, except for the piano,
you know, I mean, oh yeah, I heard about that.

Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
What happened with the piano.

Speaker 19 (01:22:34):
He flipped the piano on stage because they had there
was some uh audio videos.

Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
I got pissed.

Speaker 16 (01:22:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (01:22:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:22:42):
The biggest thing that I didn't like was the speakers.
They have these large speakers hanging from the stage that
were blocking the screen behind you know, so really interfered
with the uh that part of the show. And I
don't know why they would would.

Speaker 13 (01:22:56):
Have done that because it was terrible that part.

Speaker 19 (01:22:58):
And the sounds is the vocals were harder to understand.

Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
So those were the two issues.

Speaker 20 (01:23:04):
Other than that, it was great.

Speaker 3 (01:23:07):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
That's uh, that's unbelievable that it was two hundred and
fifty freaking dollars. I've never heard of a lift or
an uber ever being that unless you're going to San
Francisco or something. I'm just kidding, but really and truly
that's that is that is incredible. So you got out
of there? How much did it end up costing you
to get home?

Speaker 13 (01:23:29):
Well, we just took the lightrail home, so you.

Speaker 3 (01:23:31):
Know, oh okay, yeah, you know all right. Well, thanks
to the other end at mineral so thanks for calling.

(01:24:51):
we help you? We were talking about buying cars as
is and again don't rely on any used car warranties.

Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
Hey todd All?

Speaker 5 (01:25:01):
Yeah, At what point in all seriousness do you realize
someone's a nut when it comes to conspiracy.

Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
Theories and just weird stuff? At what point?

Speaker 5 (01:25:13):
Where is that line, like that Obama red line that
shouldn't be crossed?

Speaker 3 (01:25:17):
Where you know what? I often you know what?

Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
It moves first, the line moves depending on the topic.

Speaker 5 (01:25:24):
We had someone say, listen to this, don't throw tissues
into the trash because someone might grab your DNA.

Speaker 3 (01:25:32):
I mean in public, don't throw them in public in public?
So I mean it. Would you think that person's a nut? Yes?
I think so too.

Speaker 4 (01:25:42):
Would you allow?

Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
I mean, I guess if you're worried about your DNA, like,
what are you worried about?

Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
Where's your DNA gonna shoot? Jeff? That's a great question.

Speaker 8 (01:25:51):
Would you allow somebody with these many delusions actually into
your home.

Speaker 3 (01:25:58):
Hm, I don't have crazy friends.

Speaker 11 (01:26:01):
I think what this person was I think what this
person was using as an example, is someone who wants
to frame you for a heinous crime.

Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
Could commit the crime and then leave your youth.

Speaker 10 (01:26:17):
Out.

Speaker 3 (01:26:17):
What kind of friends are you hating with to make
it look like.

Speaker 11 (01:26:22):
Murder the family and blew your nose and left the
and left your DNA behind.

Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
I mean, you know, listen, here's the deal. Can they
use DNA to frame people?

Speaker 3 (01:26:35):
I don't know? Does it actually happen? See? Do you believe?

Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
This?

Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
Is what I want to know.

Speaker 2 (01:26:42):
We see this in cop shows and stuff, and we
hear about don't talk to police and stuff, and I
understand the reasoning. You know, once they find a target,
they do zero in on them, and they don't necessarily
look at alternate suspects, and.

Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
They could try to nail you.

Speaker 2 (01:26:59):
But eventually you need real evidence, right, You need more
than just an inconsistent story if somebody's nervous.

Speaker 5 (01:27:04):
More than DNA generally, what you need is like the
person that's either dead or raped or whatever under their
fingernails his DNA of somebody.

Speaker 3 (01:27:15):
You know what, Yeah, it could be the snot from
the youthed cleaning kn't just That's what I'm saying, though
I don't think.

Speaker 5 (01:27:21):
Okay, So you're saying if Jeff threw out a snotty
tissue and I was walking down the street and Kevin
was dead, and I put the tissue on his face,
then Jeff would now be convicted of the murder of Kevin.

Speaker 4 (01:27:36):
Nobody.

Speaker 21 (01:27:37):
I'll guarantee you he'd be called in. He'd be called in,
he might go up on trial. Look at what happened
in Fort Collins. Dirty cops set up a guy for
a murder he didn't commit. He spent like what twenty years?

Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
You person, Okay, this is what I was about to ask.
Do you truly and I know there are some, but
do you truly believe in general.

Speaker 3 (01:27:59):
That cops would be dirty enough to plant evidence? Well,
not cops in general, but some cops are. This is
what happened in Fort Collins. What happened? Do you remember one?
Which one? Gosh? I forgot it?

Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
Well?

Speaker 3 (01:28:11):
In general was in general, there was a terrible murder.

Speaker 5 (01:28:14):
He's probably got this story mixed up with a Twilight
Zone episode or something.

Speaker 3 (01:28:19):
There was a terrible murder. The cops.

Speaker 11 (01:28:23):
The cops zeroed in on a suspect, and they spent
their entire investigation trying to pin this murder on this guy,
which they successfully did and had him convicted, a trial
and in prison for god knows how many years. And
in the meantime they didn't look at any other possibilities
right to consider any other theories.

Speaker 3 (01:28:40):
That didn't look at any other.

Speaker 5 (01:28:42):
They didn't plant evidence, or are you saying they don't.

Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
I don't think they planted evidence.

Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
By the way, the Innocence Project, which I worked with
a little, they did find some really innocent people that
were just nailed and then got out of death row.
We interviewed a guy that was on death row death
row and he was let go when the evidence pointed
to someone else, DNA evidence that was years and years older.

(01:29:11):
They went with a bite mark as opposed to the
actual DNA and at the time they didn't have the
DNA evidence to convict or exonerate. But when it became available,
it wasn't his DNA and.

Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
He got off.

Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
He literally got out of prison, and he was given
this talk at the Innocence Project. But I don't know
if people I find it difficult to believe that cops
would manufacture or suspect.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
Here's what I think they do if they are dirty.

Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
I think what they do is they feel in their
heart and soul this is the guy, okay, for other reasons,
and then they want to build the case, so therefore
they slip something in.

Speaker 3 (01:29:55):
Maybe they do that.

Speaker 5 (01:29:57):
I mean, I'm not saying it never happens, but I
sure don't think it's well, this is what happened.

Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
Neither do I.

Speaker 2 (01:30:02):
And I think too many times we get so marked.
You were talking about nuts, right, that's one of the
ones where I think when people call us mark and
they say the judge was paid off, that's the very
as soon as I hear that, that is so seldom.

Speaker 5 (01:30:16):
I mean, really more than that, it's always the judge,
the attorneys, everybody was paid off.

Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
Yeah, and people are crooked, and there are places where
people are crooked, but I doubt that that they're Like
you said, it's rampant.

Speaker 3 (01:30:32):
I don't you think.

Speaker 5 (01:30:33):
Tell a lot though. I mean over the air you
can't because we don't see them. But a lot of times,
you know, people used to laugh at say tinfoil hats.
I mean, if people were wearing those, they're generally nuts.
I mean nowadays. If they're driving like I don't know,
older Lincoln's, they're probably a little off.

Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
Till Okay, somebody's looking at a.

Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
Used EV car.

Speaker 2 (01:30:55):
They want to know when should they be concerned about batteries?
How long do batteries last? Or does it depend on
the manufacturer? I guess wouldn't it? I would say on
the outside, ten years, wouldn't you?

Speaker 4 (01:31:09):
I think ten years would be max.

Speaker 3 (01:31:10):
Yes, And that's on the best side.

Speaker 6 (01:31:13):
You're starting to have to, you know, the decline in
the in the you know, the overall performance of the
battery after five years, aren't you.

Speaker 2 (01:31:21):
So that's the thing with an EV you have to
look out for. I mean, but that's one of the
only things you have to look out for.

Speaker 3 (01:31:28):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:31:29):
Electric motors have very little wear on them. You still
have all your suspension. Yeah, that's a big that can
be a big deal with over one hundred thousand miles.
I don't care what kind of car it is. That's true.
But with as far as buying a used EV, they
said they were blown away on the great deals they

(01:31:50):
can get. Okay, and I know they can. And why
can they get such great deals? I've seen some S
models damn near new and they're selling they're selling way
less than they were new, And I think that's a
great option for someone if they want to get in
on it. So they want to know when should they

(01:32:10):
start being concerned with batteries, so.

Speaker 3 (01:32:12):
You would say five years. It's also the technology.

Speaker 5 (01:32:15):
If you're talking about at Tesla, you want hardware four,
so you don't want anything below twenty twenty three.

Speaker 2 (01:32:22):
So hardware four meaning the platform, so it can only
take a certain amount of updates.

Speaker 5 (01:32:28):
Well, if it's three, for example, it's only got a
certain amount of power and a certain amount of sensors
and a certain amount of cameras.

Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
And no matter what that hardware, You're right, you're not
going to upgrade the hardware. So, no matter what the
software does, if you have let's say hardware three as
opposed to hardware four.

Speaker 5 (01:32:44):
Yeah, you'll never go to have you'll never have full
self driving. You will have a version of supervised full
self driving, but you'll never have full self driving in
a hardware three.

Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
Three oh three seven one three eight two five. I've
got to take a break and talk about more. Sean
wants a referral, Shawn. I'm hoping you can hang on
a waterpros dot net. You want water system, listen to this.
Never buy bottled water, get reverse osmosis healthy water at
the kitchen sink eleven hundred dollars fully installed waterpros dot

never find it better or cheaper than waterpros dot net.

(01:34:04):
what is on your mind today? Welcome to the show.
Talking about paranoid Now, Dimitri tells us there are tires
that will spy on you. Your own cyber tire will
now spy on you if you get that tire and
they're going to send it to the cloud.

Speaker 3 (01:34:21):
Which But do you have to is not in the clouds.
Do you have to opt into this?

Speaker 11 (01:34:27):
No, the equipment, the equipment is built into the tires
called the Pirelli cyber tire, and it gathers information about you,
you're driving, your locations, what you're doing, and why.

Speaker 3 (01:34:40):
You.

Speaker 8 (01:34:40):
But but do you is completely just asked if you
have to opt into it if you don't buy the
darm product.

Speaker 3 (01:34:48):
Yeah, yeah, well that's my point. Don't buy a spy tire.

Speaker 2 (01:34:52):
The spy tire, I guess, knows how fast, how heavy
your car is, how fast your car is, how slow
where you're driving. They can even have locators in it.

Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
Oh, yeah, of course it has locators in it. Sean,
what's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:35:07):
You need a referral for what's happening, Sean, Welcome to
the show.

Speaker 22 (01:35:12):
After that, I thought I need to refer for employment lawyer.
Like most of the lawyers are in the tolerance here,
they charge a lot of money. Flag for one hour
of consultation, it's going to be five hundred dollars. Do
do you know any lawyer that the only work on contingency?

Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
It says not for not for labor, because here's why
you said, it's a labor.

Speaker 10 (01:35:34):
Attorney right, employment, Yeah, employment law.

Speaker 3 (01:35:38):
Employment a situation. Yeah, that's what I was going to say.

Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
Contingency is very very difficult to get in anything outside
of personal injury.

Speaker 3 (01:35:50):
So what is your situation though?

Speaker 20 (01:35:54):
Workplace?

Speaker 23 (01:35:55):
You know a problem that you know just the you
know problem, diferent problem workplace with.

Speaker 2 (01:36:02):
Like, give me, give me an idea of what you
would want to sue for. I mean, any attorney is
going to ask you this, So what give me an idea?

Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
Yea, like did you get.

Speaker 20 (01:36:10):
Back iron discriminator on the draw discrimination that you know
if I they tell you something and then the other
employees do the same thing, but they said double the
standard and uh discrimination, double the standout and everything has.

Speaker 3 (01:36:24):
Acts a double standard for what?

Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
Give me a very specific example a double standard for what?

Speaker 20 (01:36:31):
For example, like if you like in the workplace, like
if they tell you to uh they tell you to
be closed you.

Speaker 23 (01:36:38):
Know, uh not open shoes that you know just the.

Speaker 20 (01:36:42):
Toe is out and everybody else do it.

Speaker 23 (01:36:45):
But I had to spend like twenty dollars for a
closed toe and everybody is you know, having an open toe.

Speaker 20 (01:36:52):
So something like that.

Speaker 23 (01:36:53):
You know that they're telling me something that the other
one that just not doing so it's a double standard.

Speaker 3 (01:37:00):
But what would you sue for? Though? See that's the point.

Speaker 2 (01:37:03):
On a contingency, an attorney wants to make money. Okay,
So if you wanted an attorney on a contingency, what
exactly tell me what you're doing? You're you're suing for? What?
What damages are you suing for?

Speaker 22 (01:37:20):
Like sometimes you know, like the boss belietate in me
and in front of audience, which is not like something
like that.

Speaker 20 (01:37:28):
It's you know, it doesn't okay if.

Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
You do that, if you sue for belittling, what is
your damage?

Speaker 3 (01:37:36):
I don't mean to make light of this.

Speaker 2 (01:37:38):
I'm just saying that for you to get an attorney
to take something on contingency, it would have to be
a major kind of infraction. And if you're getting and
I don't mean this to dissue or anything, but if
you're getting your feelings hurt or you're you're just pissed
off at your boss, that doesn't necessarily translate to a

(01:37:59):
big damage.

Speaker 3 (01:38:01):
Are you you working there?

Speaker 10 (01:38:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 16 (01:38:05):
I'm stay working there, But.

Speaker 15 (01:38:10):
I want to talk to you just to correct and
you know, the manager and stuff that I think.

Speaker 5 (01:38:15):
I don't think you need an attorney. You should reach
out to some state agency. You know, you can get
them in trouble. For Yeah, you can get them in trouble.

Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
If they're discriminating against you.

Speaker 3 (01:38:26):
You could go to eeo C.

Speaker 2 (01:38:28):
In fact, you have to go there before you file
a lawsuit, the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission. If you go
to the eeo C and lodge your complaint, they will
let you know if you have a case or not. Oh,
I see, and then that's the way to go about it.

Speaker 23 (01:38:49):
Do you have a phone number from them?

Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
I can get one. I don't have it right in
front of me. But I want to ask you a question.
This is an important question. Give me the worst thing
this guy has done to you?

Speaker 7 (01:39:02):
And I think under.

Speaker 24 (01:39:08):
You know, it's just believing all over in front of
people that they said, okay, you can retain information in
your mind and that my leader six years old can
understand being than you do, and in.

Speaker 15 (01:39:20):
Front of everybody, you know, in front of other managers.
And that's kind of in the you know, is humilating
and uh uh something like that that you know, sometimes
I get it.

Speaker 3 (01:39:32):
That would suck. I mean really it's probably I know,
I know what he's talking about. Right.

Speaker 2 (01:39:37):
But whether or not it's actionable or worth going after
is another story. But it is something that you might
be able to complain to the eo C about or
the government or somebody.

Speaker 3 (01:39:47):
How about get one higher up than the person doing this? Yeah,
have you right now?

Speaker 10 (01:39:53):
That's all right?

Speaker 2 (01:39:54):
Now?

Speaker 10 (01:39:54):
To have it?

Speaker 15 (01:39:55):
You know that human resources so that the investing.

Speaker 3 (01:39:58):
H artists and play right it anymore. I'm serious.

Speaker 5 (01:40:01):
If it's a company with over fifty employees, these HR
companies know what's going on?

Speaker 10 (01:40:07):
Man, Hey, what.

Speaker 3 (01:40:08):
Kind of businesses it? What industry are they in?

Speaker 10 (01:40:12):
What kind of industry.

Speaker 15 (01:40:14):
Restaurant industry got them?

Speaker 3 (01:40:17):
What kind of industry restaurant industry?

Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
Okay, yeah, you know here's the deal.

Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:40:23):
You almost never ever get satisfaction with these employment lawsuits.

Speaker 3 (01:40:29):
I'm serious.

Speaker 2 (01:40:30):
That's why most of the employment lawyers we know got
out of the business because there was no money to
be made.

Speaker 3 (01:40:36):
I mean there really wasn't.

Speaker 2 (01:40:38):
You know this state okay, this state has done tremendous
strides in tenant law.

Speaker 3 (01:40:45):
They went overboard.

Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
Argue, maybe they will do that with employees. I mean,
there are no really good laws for employees right now.
There aren't other than the normal discrimination laws laws.

Speaker 3 (01:40:58):
I don't. I guess I don't understan in what you're saying.

Speaker 5 (01:41:01):
Like if I don't like someone, I shouldn't be able
to fire him.

Speaker 2 (01:41:05):
No, I'm talking about unfair treatment. Just a covenant to
be fair would be the thing to do. It's called
the covenant to be fair.

Speaker 5 (01:41:13):
I think most employers though, I think most employers are
pretty straight up.

Speaker 2 (01:41:18):
They want people that produce nowadays, now the days they
are marked. As you said, they are really skittish right
now being sued. In fact, they're more skittish of.

Speaker 3 (01:41:30):
Being sued than they're actually being sued.

Speaker 5 (01:41:32):
I told this, I told this story before. But our
old neighbor he's dead. His name's Archie Hunter, but God
rest his soul. He was a good guy, but he
was plagued with problems. But he got fired by Cisco
for drinking on the job. Literally a bottle of Jack
Daniels on his desk, drinking drunk. And I guess he

(01:41:52):
blew a sale or something, but they fired him for
drinking on the job. His wife was an attorney and
soon dude Cisco for firing him for a medical reason.

Speaker 3 (01:42:04):
She won.

Speaker 5 (01:42:05):
He got a years of bas pay and then they
had to reinstate him. So then they turned around and
fired him for no reason at all, which was fine.

Speaker 3 (01:42:15):
Because I know that's weird. That is backward thing in
the world.

Speaker 2 (01:42:19):
Yeah, three oh three, oh, we got to take this break,
and that's.

Speaker 3 (01:42:22):
Not my fault, that was Mark's fault. Mark it down.
We got more right after this.

Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
Major Mark Major's at the Major Studio and.

Speaker 3 (01:45:14):
We have who do we have?

Speaker 5 (01:45:17):
Mark, Kevin Colkin, Sheridan Auto Tech, Jeff Bick, Kimber Transmission,
my lovely wife, Susanna of course Dragon on the other
side of the glass, Axe Man. Take in your calls
at three h three Martino, and we've got a lot
cooking right now. Let's hop right to the lines. In fact,
who's been holding the longest acts? Charles h Charles, Hey, yeah, Charles,

(01:45:40):
what's going on with you?

Speaker 10 (01:45:43):
I'm with you?

Speaker 18 (01:45:45):
Yes, Charles, Yes, I'm here, I'm with.

Speaker 3 (01:45:49):
You, Yes, go ahead. What is your question for us? Charles?

Speaker 18 (01:45:56):
My question was, hey, off the five percent discount on
the price of the well pump, but he want uh.
Then he came back after he's finished and said, it's
got to be greenbacks. You got to be cash for
that discount. So I took him to the bank, and

(01:46:18):
he followed me in his car, and it turns out
it's exactly five o'clock and they've locked the doors. So
this morning, the previous owner of the well company lives
down the street and that's where all the equipment is
and everything. And I wrote him a check with the discount.

(01:46:44):
So then I go about my business in the day
and my wife follos me and says, the foreman is
at the front door wanting three hundred dollars, which was
the five percent discount. R more, Oh, he'll shut off.
It's the electricity to my well pump.

Speaker 3 (01:47:04):
M Well, that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
First of all, when you were given a price for
the well and the pump, how much was the price
the whole price is going to be?

Speaker 18 (01:47:15):
The price was six thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
Even okay, And he said and he said if you
paid cash.

Speaker 18 (01:47:25):
And so I'm assuming I'm going to write him a
check because he mentioned no credit cards.

Speaker 2 (01:47:33):
Well okay, but he said he said greenbacks though, greenbacks.

Speaker 18 (01:47:37):
Right, And I'm thinking maybe he's going to scale him
his boss by writing up a work order for less
money and putting some of that greenback today his pocket. Anyway,
I go to the previous owner's house.

Speaker 3 (01:47:56):
But what is the previous owner? What does the previous
owner have to do with it? We're all the well
in drilling equipment, and I.

Speaker 2 (01:48:03):
Understand, but the previous owner doesn't own it anymore. He's
doing business with the new owner.

Speaker 18 (01:48:10):
He said he would get the checked too, the new
owner or the new manager of it.

Speaker 3 (01:48:15):
Okay, here's what I think here. You're not going to
want to hear this.

Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
But if you had the well dug and you agreed
to the six thousand dollars, then pay the guy the
six thousand dollars and be.

Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
Done with it.

Speaker 18 (01:48:29):
Well, I don't know if I've got well water.

Speaker 2 (01:48:33):
Well, Okay, then verify you have well water, then paying
the six thousand Wait wait he turned off the power.

Speaker 18 (01:48:40):
Yeah, he's threatening to turn off the power.

Speaker 5 (01:48:43):
Hut did he turn off the power? You just said
you don't know if you have well water?

Speaker 18 (01:48:48):
Well because uh, well has a pressure ladder okay, yeah,
and it holds forty gallons of water. Yeah, i'd have
to drain it completely to fire to know you.

Speaker 2 (01:49:00):
Well, No, you don't know, you don't know. You don't
you don't drain it completely. It's it fills up as
it goes and keeps the pressure. So here's the thing.

Speaker 18 (01:49:10):
If the well, if if the pump and the well
is is disconnected.

Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
Did he disconnect it or did he turn it off?

Speaker 18 (01:49:21):
No, the only access he had was to to the
wiring to the pump and the well.

Speaker 3 (01:49:27):
Did he actually undo it?

Speaker 2 (01:49:30):
But he would have to do but he'd have to
pull up the pump and disconnect the wire.

Speaker 3 (01:49:35):
Do you think he did that?

Speaker 18 (01:49:38):
Well, first of all, the plumbing for the wiring comes
from the house and yeah, it's not well head. And
then down to the yeah, and that connection.

Speaker 3 (01:49:53):
Well, Mark, that's what I just asked.

Speaker 2 (01:49:55):
I said, does he have access if there's if there's
a junction box at the well head and he disconnected it,
that's easy enough to reconnect or that's easy enough to
open up and see if it's disconnected.

Speaker 5 (01:50:08):
But it's crazy that he would even do that. That's
just insane.

Speaker 2 (01:50:12):
Well it is. He went about it the wrong way.
But here's the bottom line. If the guy, well, here's
what I don't understand. The guy made it clear to
get the discount he wants green backs. The bank was closed,
so you wrote a check and you assumed the check
was the same as greenbacks.

Speaker 3 (01:50:28):
And it's not.

Speaker 2 (01:50:29):
Because the guy that the guy doesn't want his name
on a check because he's probably scamming the government. But
that's not that's between him and the government. I mean,
if you want to be the if you want to
be a police officer, then go to the.

Speaker 15 (01:50:44):
Well he works for.

Speaker 3 (01:50:46):
I thought he was the owner.

Speaker 18 (01:50:50):
Foreman.

Speaker 3 (01:50:51):
Okay, then you called why don't we call them.

Speaker 5 (01:50:55):
Let's try to get this guy his three hundred dollars discount.
I mean, I get it. We all have different opinions
to a degree. I think we all think the same
on this. But let's see, let's try to get the
guy on though. You know, the bottom line is if
you used the credit card, it would have been three
three and a half percent for the merchant.

Speaker 3 (01:51:13):
So I get that.

Speaker 5 (01:51:14):
But a check in cash, they should be the same thing.
The guy should be able to take that check and
walk into the bank and get six thousand dollars in.

Speaker 11 (01:51:23):
Cash the check, but mark the check is made out
to a company.

Speaker 3 (01:51:27):
You cannot check mark. That's true. If the guy, you're right,
you're right. And if the guy the guy, remember that.

Speaker 2 (01:51:34):
Please, if the guy wanted to scam the government, okay.

Speaker 3 (01:51:39):
I questioned.

Speaker 2 (01:51:40):
The question, is is it any of my business? If
the guy says to me, give me cash and you
get a discount, I'll give him cash absolutely.

Speaker 4 (01:51:49):
If you don't care what he does, I don't care.

Speaker 2 (01:51:51):
If he claims I don't care he claims it with
the irs.

Speaker 3 (01:51:55):
I'm not the police, I'm not the government.

Speaker 2 (01:51:58):
If he wants cash, I'll give him cash.

Speaker 3 (01:52:01):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:52:02):
And now, whether he's cheating his company, that's not even
my business. If I'm doing business with the foreman and
the foreman asked me for a certain amount of money
to do the job, and I agree with the foreman,
then I would agree with the foreman.

Speaker 3 (01:52:17):
If you were.

Speaker 2 (01:52:18):
Dealing with the boss, then deal with the boss, you know,
I mean, right now, I just think, wait a.

Speaker 5 (01:52:23):
Minute, though, hold on, hey, Charles, when you hired him,
did you hire it through the company or did you
only deal with the foreman.

Speaker 18 (01:52:31):
Well, I I called the company number and the foreman answers,
it's okay.

Speaker 3 (01:52:39):
I think it is no hold on time, think about this.

Speaker 5 (01:52:42):
I mean, I go into Kevin to have my car
worked on, and his mechanic comes out and goes, hey, uh,
you know, get me cash and I'll give you a discount.

Speaker 3 (01:52:51):
I would be thinking that's a little weird. I mean right, yes,
I would too when.

Speaker 5 (01:52:57):
It comes to a warranty or anything. I mean, I
see where Charles is coming from.

Speaker 3 (01:53:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
So in other words, he so, so, then don't get
the discount. That's what I said, pay the full amount.
Just go to the boss. If you care about the
boss and you care about ethics, pay the entire six
thousand dollars to the boss of the company. Then there

(01:53:25):
is no question. You've paid six thousand dollars. That's what
you agreed to, and you paid it to the boss.

Speaker 5 (01:53:32):
Well, I would call up the boss and say, hey,
I thought I was getting a discount. Your employee told
me this, or your foreman, there's nothing to the boss. Yeah,
there's nothing wrong with doing that. You're right, there's nothing
wrong with doing that. But I would pay the boss
the full amount and be done with it.

Speaker 3 (01:53:49):
Yeah, I wouka to.

Speaker 5 (01:53:50):
I wouldn't hand three hundred bucks to this quote foreman
at this point.

Speaker 3 (01:53:55):
That's too hard.

Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying, No, he doesn't
threatening him.

Speaker 5 (01:54:01):
The dude showed up at the guy's door saying, give
me my three hundred bucks, right.

Speaker 2 (01:54:06):
And I think that guy was playing I think that
guy was playing fast and loose with his boss.

Speaker 3 (01:54:12):
I do.

Speaker 2 (01:54:13):
That's why I would go not to the previous owner,
not where the equipment is parked.

Speaker 3 (01:54:20):
I go to the owner of the company.

Speaker 2 (01:54:23):
Now, and I'd say, I owe you six thousand dollars.
And by the way, your foreman was threatening me, and
I think he turned off my electricity because he wanted
three hundred dollars in cash. I would just tell him
the story, but I would not pay the foreman at all.

(01:54:46):
I wouldn't pay him the discounted amount. I wouldn't pay
him the full amount. I would only deal with the
company owner at this point because I wouldn't trust the
other guy. That's what you should do. Now, if you
want act to call, let's call him.

Speaker 3 (01:55:00):
During the break. I would like to get the guy
on just for you know, for giggles.

Speaker 2 (01:55:04):
What's the name of the well drilling company?

Speaker 18 (01:55:06):
By the way, Parker Pulp Service by Henry. Henry was
the foreman of the previous owner. He's now the owner
of the company. The foreman's phone number, Oh no, no.

Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Not on there, Charles. Let me make sure I get
this straight. So the one who owns the company now
used to be the foreman of the previous company's.

Speaker 18 (01:55:33):
Right, and then and then he has.

Speaker 2 (01:55:38):
And then he also has a foreman now, So so
he was a foreman, but now he has his own foreman, right,
And yeah, I want.

Speaker 5 (01:55:47):
I want to I'm gonna put him on hold so
we can take this break. But hold on, let's try
to reach out to him. So give that numbered axe man.
But I'm really curious. I'm curious now if the new owner,
the old foreman.

Speaker 3 (01:55:59):
Knows what what's going on? What do you think?

Speaker 2 (01:56:01):
No, I don't think so, Mark. I think the guy.
I think Charles his hunch was correct. If he said,
I'll give you a discount if you pay me with cash.

Speaker 3 (01:56:12):
I think the.

Speaker 2 (01:56:12):
Guy wanted to pocket a few extra hundred a few
one hundred bucks more for the job. I think he
wanted the money and he was going to take it.
And I think he was probably robbing his boss. I
do I think he was. And that's why I wouldn't
deal with him. I would only deal with the owner,
and I would write him a check for the sixth grand.

Speaker 3 (01:56:35):
But he already wrote a.

Speaker 2 (01:56:36):
Check or for the discounted amount. You know, so I
don't even know where that money is now, I have
no idea.

Speaker 5 (01:56:42):
I guess it's also a possibility that the owner told
his foreman, if you get.

Speaker 3 (01:56:47):
Cash on a sale, I'll give you x percent.

Speaker 2 (01:56:51):
Yeah, well we'll have to find that out again. That's
what happens when weird things like this happen. But discount

(01:57:56):
and uh, who are we talking to?

Speaker 3 (01:57:58):
Did we get the well guy, Onya, we are working
on it right now. So hold on, let's go to
Greg real quick.

Speaker 12 (01:58:05):
While.

Speaker 2 (01:58:05):
All right, Greg, you need an attorney? You say, maybe?

Speaker 3 (01:58:08):
Maybe not? What's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:58:09):
Greg?

Speaker 12 (01:58:11):
Hi ered? Had we had a furnace put in our house.
It was last October and the company that came out
and did it. The reason we did it is because
they offered a special on doing a cleaning and an
inspection of it. So a gentleman arrived out to the

(01:58:33):
house to check our one hundred and thirty five thousand
BTU furnace, and he told us that the heat exchanger
had a crack in it and that he couldn't turn
the gas back on, and the forecast temperature for that
night was going to be in the twenty degrees.

Speaker 3 (01:58:49):
Craig, what was the name of that company? Greg? What
was the name of that company?

Speaker 13 (01:58:54):
Fix it?

Speaker 12 (01:58:55):
Twenty four to seven?

Speaker 2 (01:58:56):
Okay? And they said you had a crack? Did they
show it to you?

Speaker 12 (01:59:02):
He showed us a video of it.

Speaker 2 (01:59:04):
And so because I'll tell you why, I'll tell you why.
Now they are very very strict, very strict on heat exchangers,
cracked heat exchangers, and replacing systems. And George would want
to know if anybody ever misled you at all, did
they have a follow up inspection or was it just

(01:59:25):
this one guy that you dealt with.

Speaker 12 (01:59:28):
It was the one guy we dealt with and then
and he had somebody else come out.

Speaker 2 (01:59:35):
That's what I meant. They did have someone come out
and verify it.

Speaker 12 (01:59:40):
I don't recall it.

Speaker 3 (01:59:43):
This is I'm even a little confused. This is still
way back in October. So where are we at right now?
Did you buy a new furnace?

Speaker 2 (01:59:51):
Well, we were going to get there, Mark, but I
wanted to make sure that he wasn't pressured into doing it. Okay,
So what happened after it was installed?

Speaker 12 (02:00:01):
Well, actually what happened is that the salesperson got here
and then he told us that we had one hundred
and thirty five thousand b TOU furnace right and he
said that they were going to put a replacement of
sixty thousand B to U furnace in and the cost
of seventeen over seventeen thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (02:00:23):
Okay, he said that the.

Speaker 12 (02:00:24):
Sixty thousand btu furnace would be equivalent to one hundred
and thirty five thousand btu furnace because of a high efficiency. Okay,
we figured you knew what he was going to do
and then and he also told us you can give
us a five hundred dollars discount of We signed the
contract to replace it that day, so we had him
do it. They got the furnace in. Well, two days

(02:00:47):
after the installation, our house is getting cold. Yeah, furnace.
The furnace stopped running. It was twenty three degrees outside.
So we called the company. They said they were good
for twenty four seven and so they sent the guy
out and it was midnight a couple of days later,
and he came and looked at it, and he said

(02:01:09):
that the thermostat wire was bad between the thermostat and
the heater, and he said the company would get back
to us. Well, it was starting to get cold. I
called them up the following morning and they said a
technician would come over to our house later that day
after he started another furnace installation. And that just seemed

(02:01:31):
kind of hard. So he arrived later in the day
and he found out that when they did the installation
they didn't hook up a neutral wire for the gas right, yeah,
where the Conner state pump. So because that wasn't hooked up,
it caused a furnace to sail. So he caked up,

(02:01:51):
and so the furnace seemed to be running. It seemed
like all the time after he'd done that. In our
last furnace, it would heat up extremely fast.

Speaker 3 (02:02:01):
And so let me let me jump in real quick.

Speaker 5 (02:02:05):
So on the newer one, is it like ninety five
ninety seven percent efficiency?

Speaker 12 (02:02:12):
Ninety six percent?

Speaker 4 (02:02:14):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (02:02:14):
So just for people listening out there, older units, I'm
right talking sixty seventy percent efficiency, so their math could
be right on one hundred and thirty five.

Speaker 3 (02:02:26):
No, no, Mark, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (02:02:27):
I'm not questioning anything. I want him to finish his story.
I want because he called wanting an attorney, and I
can call the owner of the company and if anything
was done wrong, we're going to get it done right,
because that's the way they are. So I want to
know the rest of your story. Where are we going
with it?

Speaker 12 (02:02:43):
Okay? So we called the email and called them, actually
email them several times, let them know that the furnace
seemed to be running so much right. So they never
communicated back with us.

Speaker 3 (02:02:56):
Okay never.

Speaker 12 (02:02:59):
So what we did on it was the twenty fave
got some notes here. On the twenty fifth of November,
we had to go to their office to find out
why there why the furnace was running so much, and
we had some other issues with them. I won't go
into those details now. And so they told us to
email them all the things that we had been emailing them,

(02:03:23):
the pictures.

Speaker 3 (02:03:24):
Where does this stand right now? Greg?

Speaker 12 (02:03:27):
Well right now? They they okay, yeah, we'll just I'll
cut to the chase. So they we kept complaining about that,
and then the city came. They did the inspection on
the furnace and when they did they said that the
ventilation was it was incorrect. So they came out a

(02:03:48):
couple of days later they redid the ventilation for the
for the heater and it's a combustion and intake. And
that night the furnace stopped again and so he called
them up and another representative came out and what they
did is they vented it into a window. Well, both

(02:04:10):
the combustion and intake are and yeah, there's an oxygen
sensor on the furnace. So that's what shut it off.

Speaker 2 (02:04:18):
Okay, So Greg, you said, Greg, Greg, you had a
bad experience. I need to know where it stands so
I can know what to do for you. I don't
know if you're getting the message, but the message here
is I want to fix this and find out what
the hell went wrong, Tom.

Speaker 3 (02:04:39):
And I hate cutting hold on.

Speaker 5 (02:04:41):
I'm not hold on though, both of you though, because
what I'm hearing from this guy more than anything is
it's running a lot more. And what I want to
tell them is our high efficiency one runs twice as
much as our old one because the actual.

Speaker 2 (02:04:56):
Blower motor is very much their speed always on.

Speaker 3 (02:05:01):
I know that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (02:05:04):
But I still want I still want to hear I
know all of that, and all of that's going to
be explained, but I want to get to the end
of the story because he's not there yet. What is
the end of the story? You said you were going
to cut to the chase. You didn't cut to the chase. Greg,
What is wrong today?

Speaker 12 (02:05:23):
Okay? So they said that that they did proper evaluations
for the furnace and everything they had to go through
with it. So then they came back out to the
house and they said they were going to the city
told them to do a proper evaluation. It's called a
j J J something. They said they were going to
do an evaluation to make sure that the house and

(02:05:44):
everything was properly sized for the furnace. Well, they said
they were going to come out and do that, and
so they came out to do that. They said to
us through an email that they were going to come
out and evaluate it. And when they came out to
the house, they came out they weren't going to evaluate it.
They brought a larger furnace out and they said, we're

(02:06:05):
going to go ahead and install an eighty thousand BTU furnace.
And I said, without doing the proper evaluation because they
didn't pass the permit, because they didn't submit the evaluation
to the City of Wheatridge on the size that it
had to be for the house. It's called a manual
j evaluation.

Speaker 2 (02:06:24):
You're going to get to the problem. I hope as
to what's going on today, I'm really hoping. And by
the way, I'm happy that they did an eighty thousand
b to you, because that's what the one hundred and
thirty five thousand is equal to around that. But what
I want to know is this. What did they put
in that one? Did they put in the higher the
eighty thousand?

Speaker 12 (02:06:46):
No, they came out to do the evaluation of it,
and they we were ready to go out. We were
supposed to meet some people, and they wanted to put
the furnace.

Speaker 2 (02:06:54):
Greg, I have to take a break. Greg, I have
to take a break, and then when I come back.

Speaker 3 (02:06:59):
Here's what I want to hear.

Speaker 2 (02:07:00):
Tom, I had fix it twenty four to seven out
to my house to do a furnace and I am
not pleased because I need this, this and this done.
That's what I want to hear. Or I want to
hear finally it was fixed. Or I want to hear
I need more help. But please, I need to hear

So.

Speaker 2 (02:08:18):
Greg said he had fix It come out to his
house and they installed a furnace. They said his UH
heat exchanger was cracked and it was cold, so they
wanted to get the furnace in, but it was a
fifty thousand b tou and they were replacing one hundred
thirty five thousand B to you in any case, He
said it was running a lot and he wasn't pleased

(02:08:39):
with it. And then they came back after the City
of Wheatbridge inspected it and said that the ventilation was wrong.
Fix It came back with an eighty thousand BTU unit
and they were going to put it in. What I
need to know because I know listen, I know this company,
and I know that if anything is a miss, they
will take care of it, if one of their employees

(02:09:02):
did something wrong. But what I need to know is
where do we stand. I don't want to hear each end,
every step right now. I need to know what is
the problem today.

Speaker 12 (02:09:15):
The problem today is that we've had problems with them
for so long. For five months, they kept writing us
the furnace proper and then they come out and they
want to put another one in. With all the issues
we had with them in the past, we do not
want to deal with them anymore. Their lack of communication,
their inability to correct things as it should have been.

(02:09:38):
Have it revenan coming to just six to the ra
If they would have put the furnace in properly from
the start, we would have been fine with a month
we paid and everything we had they told us to do.
This apples tables comparison. Another company, Plumbline, came in said
they put the same furnace in for eighty five hundred dollars. Well,
they charged just seventeen thousand, six and sixty six dollars.

Speaker 2 (02:10:02):
Greg greg I need, I can't, Greg, Greg, I here
here's the deal. Did you say that you don't want
to deal with them? So if they do want to
fix it, you don't want them to do anything.

Speaker 3 (02:10:15):
So that's the part I don't understand.

Speaker 2 (02:10:17):
They want to put a larger furnace in without charging you,
and you don't want them to.

Speaker 3 (02:10:22):
Do that.

Speaker 12 (02:10:24):
Because of the issues.

Speaker 2 (02:10:26):
Okay, okay, Greg, that's a yes or no. You don't
want them to replace the furnace. That's a yes or no?

Speaker 3 (02:10:32):
Is that right?

Speaker 12 (02:10:33):
That's no?

Speaker 13 (02:10:34):
We do not?

Speaker 3 (02:10:34):
Okay, good? Then what do you then?

Speaker 10 (02:10:37):
Then?

Speaker 3 (02:10:37):
What do you want? Do you want a full refund?
What do you want?

Speaker 12 (02:10:42):
We sent them a seven day demand letter for furniture
removal and full refund and we haven't heard anything from them.
They don't communicate at all.

Speaker 2 (02:10:51):
Well, very who who has your point person been at
fix it twenty four to seven?

Speaker 3 (02:10:57):
Who has it been? His name is John John?

Speaker 12 (02:11:01):
What they call him Johnny? They don't I have no
idea what his last name is.

Speaker 3 (02:11:09):
But is he the guy that? Is he the guy
that did the work?

Speaker 10 (02:11:13):
No?

Speaker 12 (02:11:14):
No, there's the gentleman that did the work, Simeon. I
think his name was really nice guy. The workers are
very nice, except the guys that came over to do
the eighty thousand BTU in the installation. They were supposed
to do the evaluation. When we told him no, they
literally laugh at us.

Speaker 2 (02:11:31):
And Greg, I want to tell you, Greg, I want
to tell you something, and I don't mean to be disrespectful,
but I don't know of one furnace that I can
think of that plumbline could do for eighty five of
that be to you?

Speaker 4 (02:11:44):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (02:11:45):
So if you say that, well, do you have their quote?
Did you get it in writing?

Speaker 12 (02:11:54):
I got I've got the quote is in writing? I
sent it to them to okay? Or seven?

Speaker 2 (02:11:59):
Would you send it? Would you send it to me?
Would you send it to me?

Speaker 3 (02:12:04):
Okay? And what kind of furn what kind of furnace is.

Speaker 12 (02:12:07):
It exactly the same one?

Speaker 3 (02:12:11):
What kind a bryant? A Bryant?

Speaker 2 (02:12:15):
Okay, listen, here's what I want you to I want
you to send that to me. And can you also
send me the invoice from fix It.

Speaker 12 (02:12:23):
Yeah, that's the other issue. The invoice we got from
them for the rebate. All it had was the price.
I had no itemize. I asked them for that multiple times.
They would not send it to us for.

Speaker 2 (02:12:34):
What for what rebate? You were going to get a rebate.

Speaker 12 (02:12:38):
There's a two hundred and fifty dollars rebate from Excel.
But so when I sent the document that they sent
us from four seven, all it said was sixteen nine
out of ninety nine, and it said it didn't give
any details on the furnace. When I asked them to
send a proper invoice, they sent an invoice they said
it was a forty thousand BTU furnace and it wasn't

(02:12:58):
even the proper Okay, wouldn't the work.

Speaker 2 (02:13:02):
But here's the thing, Greg, I'm going to put you
in touch with someone there that you need to talk to,
and not Johnny, not people that have frustrated you, but
people who will want to know about this because we
don't get complaints like this about this company.

Speaker 3 (02:13:18):
I'm being honest with you. We don't. We absolutely don't.

Speaker 2 (02:13:21):
So if you have a legitimate complaint, they're gonna want
to hear about it.

Speaker 3 (02:13:26):
Okay, what I.

Speaker 12 (02:13:28):
Went on Yell, they've got two point zero out of
five possible five on reviews. Better Business Bureau has them
rated at eight plus, but they're only two point two
out of five there's another one complaint. More, there are
only two point four out of five, so I can't
see where they don't have any complaint.

Speaker 2 (02:13:43):
Well, Greg, I'm telling you that we don't get complaints
about them, and I don't shelter them from complaints. You're complaining.
We don't get complaints about them. We get, in fact,
we get very great reviews about them. So here's the thing.
You can do what you want. You can throw stones
at him, you can three you can be pissed off,
or we can try to solve the problem, whatever you

(02:14:06):
want to do. Okay, but I can put you in
touch with someone who will care enough to hear about this.

Speaker 12 (02:14:12):
Okay, Okay, who do I send this invoice to?

Speaker 10 (02:14:16):
From?

Speaker 3 (02:14:17):
What?

Speaker 2 (02:14:17):
I That's what I have to find out. Oh oh
the invoice you send that. Act'll tell you where to
send that. Okay, he'll tell you where to send that
and really quick. On those reviews, he made me to
want to start looking them up. You left out Google
at four point seven with forty six hundred reviews.

Speaker 3 (02:14:38):
Yeah, hey, Tom, you left that? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:14:40):
Jepany Bojes texted He said he's willing to go over
and evaluate the situation if you'd like him to, but
I'm not sure what he can evaluate. He's already had
Plumbline out there, He's already had another company, He's had
the City of wheat Ridge out there. I mean, well,
what else do we need to hear. It's either undersized
or not, and it's either done properly or or not.

(02:15:00):
It's either done properly or not. It's that simple. But
here's one thing I want to say. I want to
make this very clear. I know damn well that the
people who count haven't heard about this, because Greg, they
would have never had you hung out that long ever,
they would have never ever had hung that long, and

(02:15:22):
you would have gotten everything you need. Now, listen, you
know there are people that drop the ball sometimes, and
I am telling you I will put you in touch
with the right people. That's what it means when I
put my name behind a company, I know the owner
like a brother, Okay, like a brother, And I'm telling

(02:15:44):
you they would never put up with this.

Speaker 3 (02:15:46):
So you have my word on it.

Speaker 2 (02:15:48):
Someone's going to be contacting you, Okay, I hope so,
because they have well in the past. Well, okay, we
can talk about the past all you want, Greg, but
I'm done talking about the past. What I'm telling you
is is what I'm saying is this. It is quite
possible you got screwed around and these people who did

(02:16:11):
the job did not do their name justice.

Speaker 3 (02:16:14):
But I am telling you that there are people who
care about this.

Speaker 2 (02:16:19):
Okay, That's what I'm telling you, all right, And that's
why you called me.

Speaker 3 (02:16:24):
I assume that's why you called me, right.

Speaker 12 (02:16:27):
That is exactly why I called you. I'm hoping that
I didn't want to go to an attorney and have
to pay money for of.

Speaker 2 (02:16:33):
Course not, of course not. I'm gonna listen, You're gonna
be taken care of. Hang on and make sure you
get all the information to acts.

Speaker 3 (02:16:41):
