(00:21):
the Troubleshooter Show. Now, TomMartino, Hey, what's happening? I'm
Tom Martino. Welcome to the show. There is so much to get to
today, but first I just wantto say, Okay, I'm gonna admit
this and I'm done. But Iwent through all my business records last night

(00:42):
after all of this crap happening, and I went all through my aircraft records.
I went through everything I own,everything I do, and I think
right now I'm guilty of sixty fourfelonies if I was in Manhattan, and
I just want you to know thatright now, I'm seventy and I got

(01:03):
about sixty four felonies. I thinkI could probably pick. I think I
spelled my name wrong once. Thatwas That's another one. But soon I'll
be ready for to run for presidentin about ten years. Just have to
rack up a few more felonies.I'll be ready. Three oh three seven
one three talks seven one three eighttwo five five. On another note,

(01:26):
before I get to the important stuff, I am, I have some generous
people here that buy pizza on carDay. I'm in the studio today on
Friday, but they don't know howto order Rodney at jfr cars. God
love him. If you want tobuy a car, go to Rodney.
But he asked Kachino one time toorder a cheeseburger, cheeseburger pizza. Yeah,

(01:49):
and I says, Rodney, Hoodthe hell are you get out of
here? Then I have Jeff overhere and he's got the whole thing's covered
with green chilies. Green chilies don'tbe long on pizza for halopen was actual
Jeff vic camera transmission Hallopen, Wellthat's not right. And then Kevin,
are you what do you put areyou lying about? Are we copastic?

(02:13):
Pretetically? Who started putting that otherstuff on? Kelly puts on there?
Kelly, No, none of thatother stuff with the pineapple and yeah,
we're definitely going to put pineapple on. What you put on there? That?
What did you put on there? But what's that pig belly or porker
Canadian bacon? No, we don'twant who ordered that? No one here,

(02:35):
no one here wants it. SoI was actually out one day and
Suzanne said, everybody loved the sausage, the Canadian bacon. I'm going to
tell you what to carnivore with Halopen. Whatever you get, Jeff, whatever
you get, you just make sureextra cheese, extra sauce, pepperoni.
That's it. And we're going todo extra pineapple just for you. I
don't give it. I don't.I actually don't mind pineapple. Okay,

(02:59):
the anti extra cheese, extra sauce, pepperoni. That's it for me and
all. Now listen, I justwant to now we get to the important
stuff. I got Henry with me, Henry Bretts from Excel Roofing, and
I'm going to tell you why he'son. Last night we had a terrible
storm. Now, of course they'reall celebrating around the all the roofers are

(03:22):
celebrating. But here's the deal man. There was some big ass hail.
Now, I want to ask yousome Henry, would that new f wave
stuff resist that kind of hal Youknow, Tom, it really depends what
size hail it is. Well, did you see some of it look like
baseballs? Yeah? Yeah, it'ssome giant hale, especially out out in

(03:44):
those areas. But I'd just liketo give a consumer warning. If that's
all good with you, Tom,Go ahead, sir. All right,
guys. So hey, it's Henrywith Excel Roofing. And if you're a
homeowner that was affected by that hailstorm, you need to remember do not call
your insurance. Even if you don'thave damage, might still get a claim
on your record. That's right. If you call your insurance to have an

(04:08):
adjuster come out, whether it's apayable claim or not, it will be
counted against you. Here's why theydo that on your clue report. Whenever
you call, they say, ah, he's looking for a claim and you
get a bad mark. You calla reputable roof for first. Now,
I want to say a few thingswhen I say this one, Henry.
Along with your warning, never signYou don't have to sign anything for someone

(04:31):
to look at your roof. Ever, if they want you to sign something,
tell them to go to hell. That's one, you know, Tom.
There's another thing too. There's alot of these sketchy roofers are out
there. Like I told you before, we've seen a lot of these twenty
five percent cancelation fees. They havegone up to twenty five percent, and
they have dishonest contracts and they requireall this money outside. Right, So

(04:55):
number one, do not absolutely,do not ever give some sign anything nothing.
Ever, then number two, don'tlet a roofer meet with your adjuster.
Make a roofer write a full andcomplete contract with all materials and all

(05:15):
labor and everything. Now that doesn'tcount auxiliary, but it counts all the
major stuff. And if they sayto you these words, don't worry,
We'll do whatever your insurance wants.Kick him in the aend. No,
no, you don't have to kickhim. Just tell him to leave.
Tell him to leave. You neverwant an insurance company who says whatever your
insurance says, never ever, everever. Those tips alone will save your

(05:42):
ass. Also, i'd like youto use reputable companies that have been around
a while. Tom guy, that'san important question. Go ahead. How
do you know when you need aroofer? So let's say I have them
run my house. How do Iknow if I need somebody to come out
here. Let's put it this way, no harm, no foul, no
matter what. If you've had hailin the neighborhood, call that's yeah,

(06:03):
I give Excel Roofing a call.Well, we'll come out into a free
honest roof inspection for you and getyou taken care of. Now, that's
the key. Free, honest, yep, free owners. They need a
reputable roofing company that puts the homeownerbecause they're all going to be out today
knocking on doors. We all knowthat they're going to try to get them
to sign. They're going to getthem at the door to inspect their roof,

(06:26):
get a signature. And now you'restuck with a twenty five percent cancelation.
Exactly, Tom, you need tomake sure that they don't have that
cancelation. Make sure you don't signperiod. You don't have to sign,
you have a year. Don't don'tsign anything period. You're right though,
no cancelation, fees or penalties. And now excel is three oh three seven

(06:46):
sixty one sixty four hundred seven sixtyone sixty four hundred three h three seven
six one sixty four hundred. Let'stalk Mary. What's going on with you?
Mary? Tom and I just enjoyedlistening. Thank you. I hope
that it'll save a lot of peopletime and money. What's going on?

(07:08):
Well, I have a serious problemhere. What's going on? Well?
I had some knee injections and itstarted last it started last June at UC
eight and I just want to giveyou just a little bit of background.
From August of twenty eighteen up untilMarch twenty second of last year, I

(07:31):
used a different company. I gotto notice that as of April third.
What do you mean you used adifferent company? You got to tell me
what you're talking about. What doyou mean you used a different company?
It's a different orthopedic. I don'twant to say. So hold on when
you say you used a different one, hold on different they had three arms?
Or you mean different from the originalone. What do you mean by

(07:53):
a different orthopedy? Different? Differentfrom one different prior, I should say,
prior to using UCA. And theonly reason I left them for four
years in seven months right up untilMarch twenty second, every three months,
faithfully I went and had my kneeinjections. We knew that sooner or later
I would have to have knee replacements. I am a seventy six year old

(08:16):
seniors old. Okay, So Mary, you left uh and went where no?
I left the other people because okay, I got it email and they
said, as of April third,we are no longer taking your insurance.
Okay, And what was the nameof that clinic. Do I have to

(08:39):
say it? Well, they're reallygreat. They are great. No,
I just wondered, guy, Okay, so you were at a clinic.
Okay, it's just that I'm puttingdown all this sketching. So you're at
a clinic and you were doing kneeinjections and left them even though they're wonderful,
humorous, they have like twenty fourdoctors there. Got it. Okay,
that's all orthopedic. Okay, ata big clinic, at a big

(09:00):
but you since left them and wentto UCH. Well I had to.
I got to be there. Yeah, I would still be there, got
it, And that the doctor Ihad would be doing my knee search.
I got it. Nevertheless, Igo to UCH because I have other doctors
at UH. My PCP is there. So I go to the orthopedic department

(09:20):
and I've been there before. Theytook good care of me when I had
a severe fall in my home. The main woman, the main doctor.
Nevertheless, they said, okay, well she doesn't do knee injections, but
we have a physical therapist, Imean a physical a physician's assistant. Beg
your partner, PA. So onFriday, June the sixteenth, I had

(09:45):
double knee injections, and Tom,I'm telling you, never, never,
never, ever had a problem whenI went to this other place I did
four years and seven months. NowI sit in Instead of laying on the
table, which is really the wayto do this, I sit in a
chair. This guy, are youin a lot of pain when you said

(10:07):
it didn't work or never had problems? What are the problems this time?
The problems are I'm bone to bonereally bad. Well wait a minute,
wait a minute, No, no, they didn't cause the bone to bone.
If you were bone to bone,it was happened before. But what
I need to know is this,Yes, here's just a very simple question.
You liked your knee injections before, but now what is different? What

(10:33):
is different is the codes that theyput in. Is it a billing issue
or is it a therapy issue? At the treatment issue? Is your knee
working? Which one is it?Then? Okay it's both for last two.
Okay, Mary, So you're sayingyou're saying you don't like the treatment.
It wasn't as good as the lastone, and they're billing you wrong.

(10:56):
Okay, let me just say though, Okay, Mary, that's a
listen. I know listen. Iunderstand people are saying, don't interrupt,
but I need to know this. Are we complaining about the treatment or about
the billing, or about both? That is not a difficult question to Mary.

(11:16):
I'm not complaining about that because it'sover in the past for last June.
But I realized I could not usethat guy again in why because of
the treatment or because of the billing. Yes, I was in excruciating pain
for three weeks. Okay, Soyou didn't trust his ability. You didn't
trust his ability. Is that whatwe're talking about. Yes, but Tom,

(11:39):
that's not the issue. Okay, what is the issue? Mary?
What is it? Go ahead? So then I made an appointment for the
next three months. I said Ican't use this guy and I and he
gave me a woman as a excuseme Apa. Okay, here is where
the problem started. Now we're goingto get to the go ahead. When

(12:01):
I went June just says I didit the other place for all those years.
Okay, Mary, we're listening.Thirty dollars. I paid my thirty
five dollars Copey up front, nevergot a bill and they sent it on
insurance covered the rest. So letme get this now. We're talking about
Billy, not the treatment anymore, right, right, Okay, go ahead.

(12:22):
Now here's where it gets complicated.Yeah, like it hasn't already.
Go ahead, So I go inSeptember. I go in September. I
paid the thirty five dollars in June. I always have all my three forms
of ID out. And I goin September and the woman says, oh,
She says, you don't owe anything, and I says, what,

(12:46):
Okay, hold on. I knowthis is going to take the rest of
the show, so I want togive you more time. I got to
take a break. Here's the deal. I promise you Mary, this is
going to be worked on and wecan probably help you. But I need
to know the problems. So allof those past things have nothing to do
with it. What you're talking aboutnow is somehow the billing got screwed up.

(13:13):
We'll talk about it coming up.I'm comp go with a sure thing
Denver's Best roofer Excel roofing dot com. You don't pay a cent until you're
content, wait time for an insurancecheckup free, no obligation. In comparison,

only customer when you choose Frank durandthe real estate man dot com to list
your home with Remax Alliance three ohthree nine two zero sixteen twenty two.
Hi Tom Martine, and you're threeall three seven on three talks seven on
three at two five to five.Mary has a billing issue with her clinic

(14:01):
doing knee ingestions at UCH. Solet's see if we can help her with
that. Okay, Mary, Soso somehow she said you didn't have a
copay? What happened? Then?Well, I was astounded by that.
That's why I said her. Isaid, what do you mean? I
said, I always pay up frontand she said, oh, she says,
we put that on the back andm at at her puzzle and I

(14:26):
said the back end of what Shekind of threw her hands up and looked
at me blank. But we'll getto the problem part. So, yeah,
I know you were astounded. Iknow all that. So what happened
instead of a thirty five dollars copay and I've paid that the various doctors
there, they submit, Yeah,go ahead at the end of October,
because I went September to this womanPA, I get my EOB from my

(14:52):
insurance, and what is there? It says CO pay three hundred and twenty
five dollars. I called my insurance. I said, I don't understand.
I had this in June. Itwas this copey all those other years.
I was at the other place thirtyfive dollars. So anyhow, they said,

(15:13):
well, it's three hundred and twentyfive. The same numbers, Tom,
this is the thing, the samenumbers codes. But Mary, Mary,
I understand, let me explain somethingto you. Okay, I understand
what you're saying about the code andabout the different copays, but they're not
universal. They change with the clinics. Now. I know that they're supposed

(15:39):
to tell you all this upfront thatthis transparent pricing is not working for people,
but they don't have to do thesame cope. All copays are not
the same unless you have a planthat guarantees that. I don't know.
Are we talking about Medicare and asupplement? You said you were seventy three
hyar, No, we are justcrents. I have. I have Medicare

(16:02):
advantage. I have what is knownas medi Blue Plug. Now I need
to know. I need to knowMedicare advantage. This clinic at u hu
in two. Was it part ofyour medical art clinic? Orthopeda clinic?
Got it? Is it part ofthe Is it part of your advantage plan?
Yes, they take my insurance.Do me a favor, Do me

(16:26):
a favor? Hold on, Hey, Kachina, can we get integer insurance
on? I just have a questionabout it. I have a question about
advantage. I want to know ifit seems to me it would be too
confusing if they could just have differentcopays at different providers. It doesn't sound
right to me. I want toknow what I'm not understanding. Mary,

(16:47):
Mary, just real quick, didanyone ever try to give you a reason
for this? And I don't needa story, just did anyone ever try
to justify? No, that's whatI'm telling you. They say, we
put that on the back end.No, I mean this, I mean
your insurance. Your insurance say toyou that's the cope? Or did they
say to you that doesn't sound right? Did they say anything at all to

(17:07):
you? No? Okay, holdon that okay, hold on, that's
good, okay? Three or threeseven one three talk seven one three A
two five five. So a fewyears ago we had a kid come in
living with a friend's mom. Wecalled him failure to Launch. And at

(17:29):
the time we were giving free adviceto people, and we said, in
fact, we'll follow you along andencourage you and help you to the extent
we can if you follow our advice. And there was a kid named Patrick
who came into the studio and thenwe told them what to do with the
mom and how to gracefully get outof that situation, recommended some trade schools

(17:52):
if he didn't want to go tocollege. He went on to do welding
and other things. I even thinkhe found a girlfriend. He may have
gotten married, don't know. Buthe's calling in with a follow up right
now, so let's talk to him. Patrick, Patrick, I want to
ask you a couple of questions.Did you ever pursue welding after your trade

(18:12):
school or not? I did notknow. Okay, what did you do
instead of trade school? I mean, instead of well, I actually became
a truck tracker? Okay? Nowdid you also did I remember this correctly?
Did you find a wife? Yes, actually you find a woman,
she becomes a wife. I meannormally. Okay. So and is that

(18:37):
still going okay? I hope unfortunately? No? Okay? How long were
you married? October would have beentwo years? What happened? Patrick?
I'm just curious adultery mostly with heror you her? Yeah, that's too
bad anyway. So you're alone nowgoing through the process with the courts of

(19:04):
divorce? Is it? It's notgoing to be a messy divorce. You
don't have anything, neither of youdo, right, No, we don't
really have anything. We just havetwo kids. Oh my god, you
have two kids now? Okay? And how is that working out? Patrick?
That's going to be the messy part. What else did you want to

(19:26):
report? I'm just jumping in withquestions, but you called. What did
you want to talk about? Doingpretty well with the job? Almost been
with this company I'm with for almosta year? Good with them? And
did this divorce kind of devastate you? Yes? And were you on the

(19:48):
road all the time? What didshe have an excuse? Did she try
to make a reason? Did shesay that we can work on it?
What was that all about? Shedidn't really give me a good reasons,
justaying that I never cared for herenough. Did you ever look at yourself?
Is that true? Any of it? In the ways that she was
saying that I never cared for enough, like that's not true. And then

(20:14):
she's trying to say that I nevercared for the kids or her, And
it's like, were you on theroad a lot? Were you? Are
you over the road Patrick or regionalover the road? How much are you
on the road three to four weeksat a time? Yeah, they see
that can be rough on a marriage, especially with little kids. Yes,
so right now though when you sayit's messy, she's not like going to

(20:37):
try to keep the kids from seeingyou and all of that or is that
something you care about? What what'shappening there? She is as of right
now? We paperwork was just sentto the court today by my lawyer.
Are you so? Why are youguys? Like, do you even need

(20:59):
Did you try mediation? First? We tried but there there we had people
trying to help us, but shesaid she's given up on trying a long
time ago. But but trying, what does she want to do? I
mean, what is she looking forat this point? I honestly have no
idea. Well, she wants ananswer. You need to pay child support?

(21:19):
I imagine, right, Yes,there's not going to be any maintenance.
You're only married a couple of years. Yes. Does she have a
job? No, she does notwork. Does she have a boyfriend?
From what I've heard, she's beenon tender separation, which was the seventh

(21:44):
table. This is too bad,So don't run up a lot of legal
bills. Try. This should bea very simple divorce. You you need
a parenting plan. You have twokids. I mean, you do care
about seeing your kids, right,I'm actually going to be pursuing focusty of
my kids now. Why there havebeen certain aspects that my wife has done,

(22:14):
especially with our daughter. How areyou going to do that? With
you on the road three weeks amonth? What are you going to do?
I'm going actually going to be steppingaway from driving over the road.
Well what is this? Tom?I got to jump in? This is
know you were there? Well Ihad to we were listening just whatever.
I had to hop on. Thisis horrible. I thought this kid was

(22:36):
finally doing good, he'd been married, he's had the same job forever.
Then this broad cheats on him.I mean, what the hell's going on?
Patrick? Why did she cheat onyou? Well? He's on the
road three weeks. Who knows.I mean the guy. The guy didn't
have a stellar reputation for sticking tothings. I mean, it can't be
all her fault. Well, I'mnot saying it is all her fault.
I'm asking him what happened? Isit because you're never there? Who did

(22:59):
she cheat on you with? Wasit a neighbor? Was it a friend?
Who? Was it some guys shemet online? Oh, so she's
out, she's out fishing on theinternet. Yes, I don't like this
man, Patrick, unless you're goingto help him. Your wife could have
cheated. That doesn't mean she's abad mom. Here's what I'm saying.

(23:21):
Unless you have a real compelling reasonto try to pursue custody, it almost
never works when the kids are inthe middle. Well, where's the custody
sit now? Well, I imagineit's automatically joint until somebody screws up.
Yeah, so she was under asafety what Tom, What the hell is

(23:47):
this? I don't know. Didthey find her inadequate or something? What
will happen? She had actually shookheart off at one point? What do
you mean took you took her?Shook her like her shooker shugar. Okay,
so she's an abuser apparently. Now, Patrick, what are you gonna
do? Okay, if you don'tdrive trucks and you get your kids,

(24:10):
just hold on. I gotta takethis break. I mean, I don't
want your life to fall apart. At the same time, you don't want
your kid with someone who abuses him. Did she abuse him? Is she
getting classes? I mean, I'mjust trying to see where you You don't
go completely ballistic here and lose everything, especially a good job. Three oh

Hi Tom Martinez here three oh threeseven one three talks seven one, three,
eight, two, five five.John Jones is with us from Integra
Insurance. John John Junior, heyMan. Mary is on Medicare advantage.

(25:26):
I got to figure out the nameof her plan again. Hold on,
Mary, what's the name of youradvantage plan. It's with Anthem and it's
Middy Blue Plus and that's an HMO. Okay, And and Tom, I
just wanted to tell you this hashappened. You know. I paid the
kope and we heard it all.Ask for different PA No, and then

(25:48):
I got to three twenty five, but I didn't know they were charging that.
I like, I know Mary,Mary, Okay, I'm gonna put
her on hope. Mary has thiscompulsion to tell a whole story over and
over. I get what you're saying. Mary. I know that a lot
of people don't think I'm listening,and I am. I heard it.
John. She had one She wasgetting injections for her knees, paying thirty

(26:14):
five dollars copay at a big clinic. Then she switched to UCH because they
somehow the old clinic wasn't taking insurance, wasn't taking the insurance any longer,
So she went to UCH and UCHstarted doing some injections and what they said,

(26:36):
don't worry, you don't have topay your copay. We'll collect it
in the end or put it atthe end or whatever. The bottom line.
Here's the bottom line. Here's allthat matters is now her copay is
around three hundred bucks, not thirtyfive dollars. I just wanted to know
our copays standard when you're with anHMO advantage plan or can they differ according

(26:59):
to the clinic. It's a coupeand this would be in her evidental coverage
document. It's a copey. It'stypically sick So yeah, standards. So
if she's paying thirty five at one, if she's paying thirty five at one
clinic, she should be paying itno matter where she goes for the same
procedure, as long as that otherclinic is a network I mean, you

(27:23):
typically haven't. And if she's onan HMO then then she doesn't have any
out of network COPEID. That's adifferent cost than her okay in network copaid,
So okay, I'll find out,and so we need to know.
Okay, And again, Mary,I know you want to tell your story,
but I need some very quick answers. Is UCCH in your HMO,

(27:45):
yes, okay. And I haveseveral doctors there, Tom, and everybody
takes the thirty five dollars cope andthis the only one that did not take
the thirty five dollars copay. Wasthis one one physician's assistant? Yes,
And twice September and December and alsoNovember, I had a bursa injection the

(28:10):
same thing. So in each timethey charged you roughly three hundred each time,
yes, three twenty five yes timeokay? Yes? And did you
call your meda, your your advantageplan and ask them did you look at
your document? John? Go ahead? Do you have a question? Have

(28:30):
you have you? Have you whatAnthem told you? Anthem just says to
me, they say, well, that's what they charge. And I said,
I don't understand. And I said, I don't understand the terminology.
I've never heard that before. Iheard one before January. You never heard
before. I've never heard this terminologywhere oh we put that on the back

(28:55):
in Then when I went in December, the guy just shrugged at me and
he said, well, we putthat on the tail end. I said,
I don't understand that terminology. Whatdoes that mean? Yeah? What
does that. Have you ever heardof that, John, where they say
we put it on the tail end? Did you have multiple injections that then
they build you a one time? For no, I had both knies done,

(29:18):
one injection in the left, oneinjection in the right, as I've
always had. And did they andthey even charge three hundred for each injection?
Did they? They charge three hundredand twenty five? Yes, for
each knee for both for no,No, for both injections, but like
for one visit three hundred and twentyfive yes, and then for the next

(29:40):
visit, and for the next visitit was another three hundred and twenty five.
Yes, you even have the abilityto pay this, John, What
do you think is going on?Mark? We'll get to your question too.
I mean she probably can't pay it. Yes, what's even the difference?
I mean, well, real quick, when it comes to mother care
vans A only different rules from froma broker's standpoint. Did you work with

(30:03):
a broker to get you enrolled inthat plan? Man? No? Got
I got this. I got thisplan when we all got a letter back
in twenty seventeen that said everybody inColorado rocking the insurance was no longer going
to be providing care here in Colorado, and U sEH, this woman doctor

(30:27):
sent a very nice, articulate letter. Okay, fine, fine, suffice
it to say, John, sheswitched on her own. Yes, because
I had got Mary. I gotit. Mary got it. The challenge.
The challenge is not having not havingthe plan document, the evidence of
covers document in front of me,to be able to see here's the line

(30:48):
out of here? Is what Mary? John? Is this something you can
John? Is this something you canlook up? Knowing what plan she has?
Aren't they all the same? They'renot all the same? Cats are
all very different. No. No, What I mean is, if you
know the name of her plan,is it the same as I can,
I'd be happy to look it up. And if we wanted to exchange and

(31:11):
I could, you know, getmy phone number and I can look it
up for her. And that's whatwe're gonna do. Now. By the
way, this is if they sentit to collections, and they sent me
three emails the other day. Idon't think this call has any relevance.
If she can't pay it, it'sjust not going to matter. Can you
pay it or not? Mary? No, I can't. None of this

(31:33):
matter. Then don't pay it.There's nothing they can do to make you
pay it. Mary. First ofall, you don't have to cry because,
as Mark said, Mark, Mary, what if you can't pay it,
there's nothing that they can't do anythingto you. Block your calls and
move on with life. What's thatYou're going to ruin my credit? I

(31:55):
have a very good not over amedical bill, Mary, not over a
medical bill. Ill. Things havechanged on that, Mary, things have
changed on that. What do Ido? They said, I have till
July twenty four through me three email? Okay? And what did they say
they would do if you didn't payby them? What did they say you
would do? He said that theyjust say here that it's a debt collector.

(32:22):
And we're trying to Okay, Mary, I want Mary the hospital.
Okay, Now you called me,So if you're gonna listen to me now

somebody emailed me and said, theother day we were talking about the
insurance company not paying the total amounton a wreck, and they said,
can't you go after the other partyfor the difference? For example, if
your insurance company or their insurance companydoesn't pay you for your car what it's

(35:51):
worth and it was the other party'sfault, can you go after the other
party. Well, that's interesting. You can, but you can only go
after them if truly the value isthere. It's not what you think your

Oh, I don't know how weleft it with Patrick or but he's the

(36:36):
one that the failure to launch kidwe call him. He's the one that
It's a terrible situation We've coached himthrough the time. He's he's got a
job as a truck driver right now, he's got two young kids and going
through a divorce. Bottom line ishe's saying he's trying to take his kids
off soul custody and he's willing togive up his job to do it.

(36:58):
Patrick, I want to finish thisup real quick here. Do you are
you making good enough money to payfor an attorney? Because she's also going
to want you to pay for herattorney. You know that, right?
Yes, I'm awhare and I'm makinggood enough money you pay for an attorney.
Okay, but you can't really dragthis out. Is she willing to

(37:21):
give up custody? And I'm nottoo sure right now? Did she actually
have a dependency and neglect case againsther? She has an active investigation in
Ohio right now? Where is shein Ohio? Yes? And is that

(37:43):
where you live now? Used to? I currently don't have a home because
I was kicked out of the home. I've been living on the truck.
Okay. Is it your rig oris it the companies companies rigged? Does
it have a s I did applyfor an apartment and it does have a

(38:04):
steeper Patrick, try to turn downthe heat if you can. I mean,
unless you're hell bent on giving upeverything and becoming a father. I
mean, I don't how are yougoing to support yourself with two kids?
I'm going to find a job whereI'm home every night? Are you going
to try? Are you gonna makeas much money? I'm gonna try and

(38:28):
make what I can, and ifnot, what do you do? I'm
I'm going to try and do whatI can to support my kids and keep
my bills covered. If that meansI got a sacrifice on Yeah, No,
No, that's that's good. You'rewilling to sacrifice. I'm not saying
you shouldn't. But what I'm sayingis I want you to be really really

(38:50):
really really really really sure that you'renot going for soul custody to punish your
wife, and that truly you feelthat the kids are in clear and present
danger. I mean, I'm serioustoo many times now. I'm not saying
shaking your daughter was the right thing, but that doesn't have to condemn her
to a life sentence of never beinga mother. There are all kinds of

(39:14):
things you can do before taking fullcustody away and I'm saying that might be
the one thing that keeps you incourt for years and destroys everything you've built.
So keep in touch with us.I got to move on, Madison.
What's going on with you? Madison? I I'm kind of just mostly

(39:34):
looking for help with getting transportation justback and forth to work. Really,
I know what you're talking about,Madison, because I've been helping some people
do just that, and it's verydifficult. There are a lot of people
who do want to work, butthey don't have transportation. And I feel

(39:57):
for you. I right now I'mgoing to be talking to Jesse. I
wanted to. I got a carat a very low price for someone,
and it's down at honest, accurateAuto in Colorado Springs that I'm donating.
And I want to try to dothis for people who have jobs and who
can at least buy gas and insuranceand all that. So maybe maybe you're

(40:22):
one of the Madison. Tell meyour story. Do you have kids,
you're alone? What's happening? Iknow it's like a show, So I
will try to do sum it upin a like sure, no, go
ahead after February, like mid February. My I don't have really any family
out here. The closest family doyou have, they live an hour away,

(40:43):
so I don't only like asking themfor things. So my grandpa,
who had custody on me at thetime, he passed away mid February.
How old are you right now?How old are you right now? And
this is funny, I'm eighteen yearold, So this is it's really a
lot. Wow, you're you're apretty young Madison. Okay, you're eighteen,
tell us about it. Go ahead, I'm listening. So he passed

(41:06):
away mid February. Everything was goinga little okay until it was time to
go back because my family lives inMaryland. It was time to go back
there for the funeral, went backthere, and then when I came back,
I'm it's eleven o'clock at night,I'm driving on the highway and there
goes my car. It just divesright through on the side of the road.
Did your grandfather raise you pretty much? Since I was two I was

(41:31):
taken away. But it's kind oflike he I was basically like shielded from
my family, like he wanted tokeep me away from them for what reason?
No, I get it. Well, he probably felt your family wasn't
good for you? I don't knowor was he a bad guy or a
good guy? For all my lifeup until I was fourteen years old,
I thought he was good, buthe turned out to be a bad guy.

(41:52):
So anyway, so you lost yourcar, you lost your grandfather who
raised you? And how did youend up in Colorado? He came out
here with me when I was twoyears old. And okay, you've been
living here a while. Then Iget it. So let me just get
right to let's cut right to thechase. So your car, your car

(42:13):
went belly up, it's gone. And how are you living right now?
From day to day? Do youhave a place? So luckily, where
we were staying at that time, had he had a housing voucher? So
I was. They gave that tome so I was able to move somewhere
so that I was staying with afriend. When I stay with that friend,
my trip to work was only maybeten or fifteen minutes walking live ten

(42:37):
actually timed it before. So whereI moved to now it's an hour walk.
I've tried. I cannot correctly whereyou're living right now? Who's paying
the rent right now? Mostly it'shousing, it's me who has to pay
like my portion of the rent,so I'm paying it myself. But due
to me paying that and like whatmy job pays right now, it's like

(43:00):
my whole check pretty much goes topaying rent, Like I don't have to,
like I have not get it.I get it. I get it.
So what do you need to geton your feet? It sounds like
you're working. What kind of ajob do you have? I work retail
at a grocery store. Mostly whatI'm looking for right now, what would
help the most is literally just liketransportation someoney to get back so I can

(43:22):
either so I can start working moreand start like working over time to start
building myself back up. Now,do you have any support here at all?
Do you have friends? Do youhave church? Do you have anything?
Not? Really No, I meanI do, like I have my
acquaintances at work, but it's likeand they're just literally acquaintances. They're not
really friends that I can depend onto. Like what about your family?

(43:44):
You say an hour away? Whereis that? They live out in Elizabeth
and they feel, like I kindof they have kind of enough going on
there. They took all of hisstuff when he passed away from his,
his, our apartment and the storageunits, and they're trying to sell and
do all that, and I'm justI feel too bad asking them. Are
they trying to help you? Doyou get along with them? Oh?

(44:06):
I do, Like they'll offer methings like they offered me like a dining
room table, which I say yestoo. But then it's like I try
to work with some way for themto come out here, and then it's
like, or come over here, and then it's benefiting them in some way,
like oh, offer to pay fortheir guests of them, because I
feel bad at asking them to drivean hour here and then an hour back
to help me. Okay, gotit. Now you're there. You're alone.

(44:29):
Do you have any close friends otherthan work? I only have one,
but she's younger than me. She'ssixteen, so I can't really ask
right for helpful. Well, you'rejust eighteen. I mean you're pretty young
to be going through all of this, and you need transportation and you say
your job is a mile away myjob. If you're looking at that an

(44:49):
hour did you say an hour away? Yeah? It takes an hour to
walk and I've tried the skinner.Okay, so how many miles is that
like, how many miles away fromwork? Are you curious? Clean that
up and we'll come right back.I'm Tom Martino three oh three seven one

three seven one three talks seven onethree eight two five five listen uh Madison?
Okay, now, Madison, I'mtrying to think how we can help

(46:00):
you. I would love to,you know, to investigate and look look
at your background. Make sure you'renot putting us together. You're not a
some kind of method head, andyou really need a car, and I
do want to help. I want, you know, will he be by
the way a colleague here at iHeartin Denver has been doing for years cars

(46:20):
for people. I don't know howhe does it exactly or who he gives
them to. But do you knowanything about a Shannon You've been here for
years like I had. He buyshim with his own money, money he
gets from working on discovered TV andstuff, and he just buys him and
fixes him, hands him out.He does. Maybe we should start that
kind of Hey, Madison, youmentioned something about the scooters. What's the

(46:40):
problem with the takings? Have youtried some of those? Screen? Who
do who runs those? Are theylift or who are they lime? Or
what line? Have you ever triedthose? At least temporarily? Madison?
So where I live there's construction, like on the main road that I have
to take to get to my It'slike if I try to go around it

(47:01):
hits what they call a no gozone. So its readiness. Are you
okay, let me ask you this. Are you able to afford a car?
Even? Well, that's what Iwas kind of thinking, is if
I could find one cheap enough orsomething or work something out. You don't
have any money, right, weneed to get you a car donated.
But even if we got you onedonated, even if we found you one.

(47:23):
And I'm a real believer in helpingpeople who are not falling off the
cliff. What I mean is you'renot too far gone to tea. I
hate using that expression. What Imean is you're hanging on. You're right,
So all we need to do ishelp you to keep hanging on.
But what I want to know isdo you have a plan for the future.

(47:44):
Oh yeah, So I was likebefore all that happened, I was
I'm I do really good at myjob, Like I'm there all the time.
It's anything, I'm earlier, ipull extra hours. It's just after
this, it's just like I reallyhaven't been able to it'spend struggles. So
it's like I would get it ifI got the help with transportation, and
I'd be back to work full timeor probably more, and then I'd be
able to pay all my bills.Luckily, due to that voucher, they've

(48:07):
been able to help me pay mybills that I have. Okay, so
you would have to get some plates, but if it's a cheap enough car
that's not going to be expensive, and some basic basic insurance. And trust
me when I say basic, andhere's what you it's expensive even basic in

(48:30):
fact, in fact today because itis car day. Hey, Kachina,
A couple things I want to geton. You need to work in first
Jesse at honest, Accurate Auto.I want to get them on an update
on inspecting that car. And thenI want to ask anyone else out there
who has cars. We got peoplewho can fix them. I'm not saying

(48:53):
they're going to do it free, but they'll give us a good deal.
I want to start looking for carsfor people, and I know Willie has
that program, but this is forpeople simply. It's going to be one
mission only people who need to getto work now, Madison, So I
do want to help. You dohave a plan? You you do well

(49:15):
at work, you want to keepthat job? And did you finish high
school? No, because at thetime what happened with me is he did
take care of my grandpa. Hedid take care of me, but when
it hit a certain point, Ibasically became his caretaker. So with having
a yeah, I get it,Okay, you don't have to get into

(49:37):
a long explanation, but what aboutdid you get a ged? Not yet?
That was another thing in my plan. Well, the reason I say
that is that might help you inthe future to advance a little more.
But listen, that's up to you. I I get her information for us,
Katchina Madison. Maybe someone listening wantsto help out. Hold on right,

(50:00):
and we're going to get your information. You know, God, so
many people need help, but Iwant to help people who want to keep
going. I do. Okay, now listen, you know one of my
listeners, Dave, gave me agreat deal on this car. I mean,
he really did. I paid nextto nothing for it. It was

(50:22):
almost a donation. Now it's goingto take me a little to get it
up and running. I mean whatI mean is it has Satu's house for
a while, but it's still worthit. Guys, you can't get a
car for what I got it for, and even if I put a little
money into it. And I wantto do this on a case by case
basis, and all we can dois our little part right now. I

(50:45):
don't mean to diss any churches, okay, and I don't want to discourage
people from doing what they do.But you know that people feel and there
I know plenty of good people.Listen to this. They literally give ten
of their income to a church, thinking that that's what they're commanded to do
undertithing. Now again, I'm notgoing to tell people not to do it.

(51:08):
I've always thought what I like doing. And again, I'm not dissing
churches, but I like just doingthings for people directly, right, rather
than going through a middleman. Imean, that's what I like. That's
what I like doing. Again,I'm not throwing stones at anyone who supports

(51:30):
their church or anything like that, but I look at tithing a different way.
I say, we all need togive back a little. We all
need to help everybody. You know, we need to help people, right,
I mean, there's something that enrichesyour life when you help people a
little, right, you don't youknow? I know there are people that,
oh, well, if they deservehelp, I get it, I

(51:50):
get it. You can qualify yourgiving. There's nothing wrong with that.
I don't want to waste money. But the point is is that if more
and more people can help, Ifyou want to help me help others people,
I promise you this. I wedon't take a dime of any I
don't mean a dime for administration. This money goes into a special account and

(52:10):
we take every single dime to helpothers. I promise that, I promise
you. Okay, that's what wedo. We're not a charity. We
just help people. You know what'sreally funny is I one time had somebody
I forget who it was from somewherethe state or somebody, say, or

(52:32):
do you have a charity? Isaid no, I said, people just
donate money. He said, well, why would they do that? I
said, because they want to helpothers. They were almost pissed. No.
No. It was a newspaper reporterone time, and he was kind
of pissed off. He couldn't findanything wrong. He said, well,
what do you mean, What doyou mean you collect money? And I
said, yeah, I do.He says, well, on what authority?
I said, no authority. Peoplegift me money. Do you pay

(52:54):
tax on it? I don't haveto. It's a gift. Did they
pay tax on it? Well, they already pay tax on it. In
other words, do you understand youdon't have to go through red tape to
help people? You give me money, I don't have to claim it's a
gift. I give it to others. Now if I kept it as income
for God's sakes. That would bewell, I could be really a scumbag

(53:14):
and say you gave it to meand I don't have to claim. But
we don't do that, not apenny. And I think you know that,
God Almighty, you don't last almostfifty years on the air by cheating
people. So if you don't,I don't mean you Brown knows. But
it's absolutely true. Anybody listening themoney we have and is slush fun,
oh my God, direct to peopleand more than that, way more than
that, I mean, yea right, we contributed to too. So so

(53:37):
if you want to help people andhelp me help others, you just heard
this story. One thing I'll tellyou, and I promise you this,
we look into these stories. Wedo not get snowball well in the past.
I have in the past, Ihave. I've gotten snowballed where people
you know, talk me into donationsand they turned out to be phony.
But we learned so many lessons fromthat. So Brian, hang on,

Hi Tom Martino, your troubleshooter.Let's go to Steve Saysic attorney at law.

(54:45):
Steve is now with Harris Family Law. He's opening a tax division there
and Harris's family Law. By theway, they do family law. I've
known them for years, Rich andLisa Harris and their team, and never
before is there more importance to taxlaw than with divorces. I mean that's
a really important thing, plus injust in general. So Steve, congratulations

(55:08):
on your move. Yeah, thankyou. It's going to be a really
good thing. They're really they're reallygood people, man, They're really good
people. You'll love sure for sure. Thanks for that. Yeah, I'm
looking forward to it, Steve. So this guy calls the show, and
this is also good because I lovetalking to you about stuff. Now,

(55:30):
this guy calls the show and hesays his twenty twenty two taxes were not
filed because his accountant got very sickand at the last moment way and like
now he's told or in late intwenty three, I mean, you didn't
file, I'm sick. So hefinally got another no. No, he

(55:55):
finally filed a year late. Idon't know if he was himself or whatever,
but he owed twelve grand and now'sbeing socked with penalties and interest and
all that. Now. I don'tthink he'll get out of I don't really
think he'll get out of any interest. But in a case like that,
would they overlook penalties? Do youthink? Yeah? I mean, well

(56:19):
there's a couple of things with thatone too. If he's been compliant before,
So if he had three years wherehe was in good standing with DIRS
tiling straight up and flying right,he could actually apply for what's called the
first time of babing requests. Soin doing that, it doesn't matter the
reason. He would say, Hey, look, i've been compliant for three
years, I have pimlies an interestfor this one return. See if I

(56:40):
qualify, you can call him andask for it, and maybe it's codified.
It doesn't matter if you you know, if you got on a plane
in Flido, Fluida, Iran fora or if as long as you qualify
for it, it removes both penaltiesand interest. So that's that's the first
thing he should try. If hedoesn't qualify for that, then you know,
if you do have proof that yourCPA was sick. Specifically, you

(57:02):
have something in writing from the CPA, and you can provide that to the
IRS, and what's called a reasonablecause request, they'll entertain removal of penalties
in that particular instance. Like yousaid, if you're going for a reasonable
cause request, an interest is notgoing to get removed, but penalties certainly
can if you can prove that. The standard is that you acted as a

(57:22):
reasonably prudent business person or taxpayer andsomething outside of your control caused you to
not be able to file and likea preparer got sick. Yep, and
if you can prove it. Imean, I think the key with the
IRS is that, you know,a lot of people could say, you
know, my CPA screwed me over, they didn't call me, whatever it
is. That's not the best excuseor reason for you know, not filing

(57:45):
a tax But if you're like, hey, I was on the impression he
was going to file it. Ipaid him and then I didn't hear from
him. And here's a letter fromhim saying he's been in the hospital for
six months. Well then they're goingto entertain that because that's justified. All
right, Well, thank you,Steve. And can people re you at
the main Harris number about tax issues? Yeah, yep, so that that
main line. And then I'm justand then obviously on the website as well,

(58:07):
and uh, we're sort of,you know, building the plane while
we're flying it right now, right, But no, I'm just standing division
but certainly taking all all calls andcertainly happy to assist with you know,
any and all tax issues as wealways have, so happy to have to
move forward on this. And that'suh, just make sure I got it's
three or three five one five fivethousand. That's right. I was going

(58:29):
to give that out three or threefive five five thousand. Doc. Did
you have a question, Yes,Steve, I have a question. If
he had paid what he paid lastyear, would that abate the penalties?
Well, that's what you call safeharbor. You mean, if he had
prepaid. Yeah, if he said, look, last last year, I
paid five thousand, So I'm goingto send you a check for five grand,

(58:49):
and then wouldn't he abate wouldn't thatbe an automatic abatement of his penalties?
Yes, if he had you know, if you had essentially paid but
he didn't pay because the old twelvegrand. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
So if you had paid with theextension and he hadn't owed previously, that
essentially would have reduced you know, what the penalties might have been. But

(59:10):
if you didn't full pay it withthe extension, there would be a penalty
component for what he towed in additionto that original payment. If that makes
sense. Yeah, thank You canalways pay with your extension, but if
you don't full pay it, youstill owe, and then if you don't
pay it up for a period oftime, either going to penalize you for
that. It's called a payment.Okay, I appreciate that, Steve saysick
with Harrisfamilylaw dot Com. Let's keepgoing here, Amy, Hi, Amy,

(59:36):
what's going on? Hi? TomMy mom has been living in a
nursing home and she's now at thepoint where she needs hospice care. Now,
how old is your mom and howbad is it, how imminent or
what. Let's ask that right offthe bat. She's ninety, she'll be
ninety one in July. She's gotadvanced dementia. Okay, she fell hit

(59:59):
her in twenty one and hasn't beenright. She's been in a wheelchair.
She's getting to the point where shecan't eat cat Peter. Now, the
nursing homes usually have relationships with hospicecare, do they? They do?
But they gave us a list ofhospice cares to choose from, and I
don't know what's better. Oh,okay, you know I will tell you

(01:00:21):
this. As far as my businessof taking complaints over the years, we
have very seldom gotten complaints about hospicecare. Now, obviously people will say,
well, what do you mean, who's going to complain? Most of
their patients are deceased or or dieshortly after. But the families would definitely

(01:00:44):
speak up. Now, I knowsome obvious ones that have been around for
years and years and years, andI imagine they must have told you about
that, right, I mean,like I hesitate, Well I don't,
actually I'm giving. But there arelike Denver. I believe it's called the

(01:01:05):
Denver Hospice dot org. Have youcontacted them? They they have been around
for years and years and years.Yes, that's one that I've been told
about several times by various people. And then when I was talking to one
of my friends from church, shesaid, don't use Denver Hospice and I

(01:01:28):
haven't had a change. Well waita minute, why would she say that?
I have personal experience there with amember of a family, And it
was, uh, my god,I've never seen more caring people in my
life. But yeah, because theycame highly recommended until I talked to her
that I haven't. Well, shesent me a text message, so I

(01:01:51):
didn't talk to her, but I'mgoing to give her a call back.
But that's why I was just curiousas to why don't you call her back
and call us back if you want. But that first came, you know,
and I'm telling you personal information hereinside being there for on and off
for a few weeks, and notme personally, but you know, somebody
I knew, and I don't haveone. I didn't have one observation,

(01:02:16):
not one that's even a little Andeveryone is always on their most vulnerable and
heightened sense. So if there's goingto be a complaint, it would be
during that time. And so that'swhat I would say, Amy, if
they're on a list, I'd putthem high on the list. Call me

(01:02:37):
back with what your friends says.I'd like to know why he or she
said that. I think you saidshe said that, because that doesn't make
sense to me. Now Jesse ison the line or he's going to be
on the line soon and right afterthis, and we're going to talk about
one of the cars I got,I purchased real cheap, and we're gonna

(01:02:59):
talk about how he goes through aninspection and what he found, and uh,
not necessarily about this car necessarily, but in general, why do you
do use car inspections? Kevin doesthose and for his customers, and Jesse
of course does them in Colorado Springs. So we'll talk about that and more
coming up. Go with a surething Denver's Best Roofer Excel roofing dot com.

to talk to Jesse Shillinger. AndJesse one of the main reasons I wanted
you on was to talk about theseused car reports or these car inspections.
I love them. And Kevin sayshe's got a program where they go through

(01:04:10):
all the major systems and stuff. So, yeah, explain in a used
car checkup. Since say this carday, what do you do? You
basically start somewhere and go through thewhole thing. Do you have a regular
program, what is it like?Is it what do you do? We
have a system set up that triesto catch all that is important doors,

(01:04:31):
locks, heater, air conditioner, radio, like, we just go through
the system and we just check itoff as we go and making sure that
we're getting into every system and ifwe see an issue, whether it's cooling
with oil in it or whether it'stransmission fluid that seems to be dark,
we can put notes in there thatyou know would be worth looking further into
this once we get to that point. Now, one thing I did notice

(01:04:51):
and I liked about the report asI was going through it is you give
comments on listen you know it mightbe you know this is an older car
or a lot of months. Thisis common, not don't get panicked,
or maybe this might help or thatmight help. You don't seem to be
like scaring the hell out of people. No, I mean that since here,

(01:05:12):
what we appreciate that we're trying towork with the customer and letting them
know. Number one is safety.Let's make sure all the safety items are
checked first. Number two comfort Right, So if a strut's bad, yes,
it's going to affects tires and it'sgoing to affect the ride, But
is the car still safe? Sure, it's still safe to drive. So
let's put that on a list tomonitor. And as you start putting some

(01:05:32):
miles on this car and you startdriving, and we can monitor that system
and say is it better, worseor hey, is it really bad?
And now we need to get inthere and get this thing taken care of.
We don't want to scare anybody.Do you mind saying what it costs
for a pre buy inspection. Yeah, we do a pre purchase inspection for
one hundred and fifteen dollars. Man, that's a steal. See, that's
right around what Kevin's I think onetwenty. I mean unbelievable. Unbelievable,

(01:05:59):
that's hard to believe. Where ifwe bring it in and we get it
in the air and it's so badthat it's not even worth going through the
inspection, we'll charge you for thatone. Ask you please don't buy this,
bring us another one and we'll getthat one done for free. We
want to be fair with you. That's pretty damn cool. And that's honest,
accurate auto. That's what I wantto know, Jesse. And then
but by the way, I'll beemailing you about this particular car. But

(01:06:20):
I was very impressed with the inspectionreport. Now, so it's inspected and
passed, and then you go throughall the major systems, electrical and all
that, the safety issues, andthen each section of the car. It
is very very easy to understand. Now when somebody takes their car in for
another kind of problem, do youuse something similar than this? We do.

(01:06:43):
It's not quite as extensive as thisone. We just do a vehicle
inspection. But ninety percent of whatyou get in here is covered on that.
We always want to make sure evenif you just come in for an
oil change, that you don't leavehere and your brakes go out tomorrow and
we miss that. We want tocatch those items while you're here. All
right, Well, thank you,And that's honest, accurate auto in Colorado
Springs seven nine eight sixty three ohsix. We appreciate that, Jesse appreciate.

(01:07:09):
Yeah, that's that's one of thenumbers anyway, Kevin, you so
you pretty much do the same thingyou go. We do, and a
lot of times we want to makesure the rest of the car is good
before we try to sell breaks. For example, you know what if you
have a head gasket out and youneed breaks, how you get to seal
if you pay? So you've attimes probably told people, don't bother,
don't do any of it, getrid of it exactly. Bill. What's

(01:07:29):
going on? Bill? Hey?How you doing good? I'm gonna have
a grease monkey on thirty fifth Avenuein Greeley. Wanted to get my older
changed and they come in and toldme my needed grease, needed the grease
change in it. I should I'llget it. I'll do it next time.
Well they didn't put the plug backin. Oh, down road and

(01:07:51):
my rearing locked up about hit anothercar? How how many miles on this
vehicle? One hundred and fifty thousand? Oh crap? So what are they
willing to do for you? Nothing? They said they won't do The insurance
guys is supposed to be coming outof been waiting ten days. Well,
what do you mean they won't doanything? They haven't done anything yet.

(01:08:15):
They yeah, yeah, But didthey say we're not going to do anything,
or do they say we got tolet our insurance guy look at it.
Oh, they said they gotta letthe insurance guy look at it.
But the guy it's been ten daysand nobody's they won't get ahold of men?
Is your car over at there? Is your car over at their place?
Yeah, they're going to have todo something, But here's the problem.
You're not going to be happy evenif they take responsibility. Jeff,

(01:08:39):
tell them why. You know, although differentials aren't the most common failure on
vehicles, you know, one hundredand fifty thousand, you could reasonably say
you've gone through the lifespan of it. Yeah, but maybe he'll get something.
See what we're getting at, Billis if they did destroy it.
Now, obviously they did destroy itprematurely because it wasn't destroyed. But how
much do they owe you? Theycertainly do not owe you a new a

(01:09:03):
new one. Do you know whatI mean? Yeah? You know it
didn't make no noise or no.I get it. I get it.
There's some good used ones available forthat. I'm sure they would probably be
responsible to get you a good usedone. So what I say, no,

(01:09:24):
I get hold on. I'm goingto give this to someone to work

(01:11:41):
Tom, I took my car togrease Monkey and they checked the Was
it the differential he talked about guys? Is that way? Hey? So
they left the plug out of thedifferential. So he's driving down the street
and the differential sees this up.Now you had one hundred and fifty thousand
miles on this, What would heuse? Differential? And when it comes
does it come with the whole? Is it differential? The pumpkin? Is

(01:12:01):
that what they call the pumpkins?Yeah? Well you just some of them
have a third member where that partactually comes out and the actual housing stays
in. But most differentials it's justone large housing you with that thing?
Is that right? You've got twoaxles that come in from the size you
get the carrier and wring opinion? Was that usually cause used? I don't
on that. You're probably six seveneight hundred bucks something in that range.

(01:12:21):
Installation in slaves will be another whatthousand? Half that five hundred? So
basically maybe fifteen hundred for everything, maybe pretty close if you get used.
Yeah, I mean, well that'swhat he deserves, is used. Bill.
Have you priced anything out yet onyour own? I just went down.
I priced the new parts. Well, you're not going to get a

(01:12:44):
new part? What what new part. Did you price, by the way,
everything but the housing varying? Howmuch was it new it was?
Yeah, you're never going to getthat, but you may actually need a
housing too. When they seize up. The bear can spend and you can
ruin the head. He needs touse one. You need to find a
used one. They owe you adifferential of one hundred and fifty thousand miles

(01:13:08):
on it. Yeah, I justwant my car, sicks, I get
it, bro. So here's whatyou do. Go out and price a
differential with one hundred and fifty thousandmiles on it or less, just a
reasonable price. Then get an estimatefor installation, and that's what you take
in the small claims court for Idon't see how they win except it is

(01:13:29):
Well County, for God's sakes,I mean, and Greeley. Oh god,
I don't even know living in Greeley. I just want to fix more
cars. I'm disabled and that's theonly car I have. They won't let
me get it. They told meI didn't qualify for a rental car.
Well, you could argue that one. You could argue that one. You

(01:13:50):
know, these guys are idiots. They ruined your car basically, But remember
Bill, they don't owe you abunch. They do need to fix it,
they do. I want to fixLet's give this to somebody to work
on. You, honest, Iwould just like to have a fixed the
way it was, Gina. Whocan we give this to work on?

(01:14:14):
I'm sorry, I'm talking to deputyDoc. Wants to do it. Hold
on, We're gonna call up there. Okay, I'm gonna assign this to
Deputy Doc. Now, what we'lldo is call him and say, come
on, get this damn thing fixed. Listen, man. Uh And as
far as I think you can geta rental car, not until somebody looks

(01:14:39):
at it. But the insurance anymoreis notoriously slow. We wait for adjusters
for a week at a time aswell. Yeah, but still they should
I agree. I'm just yeah.I mean they let the freaking plug off
it. Well, and there's nothingstopping him from getting that rental car and
suing him for that cost too.Yeah, if he can. I don't
know if he even has the moneyto do that, or the credit card
or anything. So Kachina, givethis to deputy Doc. Okay, three

(01:15:10):
zero three seven to one three.Talk Aaron, what's going on? Aaron?
Hey, Tom, I've got atwenty three Ford Bronco that's the bad
Lands Sasquatch edition, has a bunchof off road options, automatic lockers,
and its wave bar disconnects, tractioncontrol and wow, all this fancy.

(01:15:31):
Yeah. Well, so I tookit up to the hills over Memorial Day
weekend. Uh, something went haywirewith my ABS. Now, by the
way, is this the big Broncoor the little one? It's the big
one? Okay, yeah, wellthere's two new body styles. Yeah,
but the one he's talking about here, he's got the full package. Okay,

(01:15:51):
go ahead, sir. What happenedthen? So so, because the
ABS wasn't acting right, None ofthose options work, you know, to
detect the wheelspin. If they wouldn't, they wouldn't let me engage my lockers,
which I needed to get out ofwhere I got myself into ended up
having to get rescued. But anyway, I just wanted to know if there's

(01:16:13):
anyway I believe it's a manual lockerinside that differential. It's not like a
software thing. And so I thoughtabout putting twelve bolts to one side of
that locker on my differential to getme out of there, but I didn't
want to fry in. Well whatdid you do? I hiked out and
I called Colorado four by four Rescueand Recovery. They're a nonprofit group here

(01:16:36):
in the state. Only thing inthe country. Liked them, and they
came up with about five vehicles towedme and my little overland trailer out of
there for nothing for donations. Andwow, that is unbelievable. So what
do you want to do now? What are you looking for right now?
You just wondered what you should havedone or what you could have done.

(01:16:58):
I'm wondering what I could have done. You know, I'm fairly mechanically inclined,
and like I said, I cleanedall my breake sensors. I didn't
all the reason it happened. Areyou sure you know the reason it happened.
I don't know yet why it happened, but the vehicle's currently in the
shop under warranty getting worked on good. But I believe it's the ABS because

(01:17:19):
every time I tried to engage thelocker, it told me to take my
foot off the accelerator while I wasstopped, and so it was sensing somewhere
that a wheel was spinning and soit wouldn't let the locker go in.
And I just wanted to know ifthere's if anybody knows if I could have
put twelve bolts if this were tohappen in the future, because I don't

(01:17:39):
plan on not four wheeland. That'swhy I got this thing. If I
could put twelve volts to that tothat connector and get a locker kind of
bypassing that whole system, I'd I'dbe afraid to do it, to be
honest with There's so many systems areso integrated, you could fry four modules
doing that. That's why I didn't. Yeah, no, it's yeah,

(01:18:01):
I don't know, to be honestwith you, but I'd be very concerned
to do it. Well, Imean, I mean just activating the locker
itself. If you've got it isolatedfrom the rest of the system. In
theory, it should work. Butyou could make other systems go haywire.
But why did it disengage? Idon't understand why is tied to everything else

(01:18:27):
for safety because you don't want thelocker to engage at fifty miles an hour,
okay, things of that sort,So they just protect it. So
there's reasons for it. But that'swhat I mean. But if it's showing
fifty and you're trying to what doesthat lock? Do it locks so that
you have positive four wheel drive engagementto all four wheels. And if you
don't have it, do you haveany drive to those wheels? Yes?

(01:18:47):
Yes, But this just makes surethat you know, even if one it's
a positive traction? Is that whatthey could It's a lot more efficient than
positive. It's like a modified positive. It just make sure you get power
to all the wheels. Yeah, would you have gotten out for sure?
If you had that? I would. I would have attempted it. I've
got my own recovery gear, allthat stuff. I would have attempted it.

(01:19:09):
So you you sound like you dosome heavy duty four wheeling. I
do we do? Yes? Whatdid you have before the Bronco? I
still have a seventy eight seven? How does it? How does it work?
Which one? The jeep? Thejeep work straight? It's stock.
It's it's a jeep. You knowit'll vay for rocks. You gotta get

(01:19:30):
out there and blow some are inthe tank and off you go again.
I mean, it's it's one ofthose. But what do you like better
for the four wheeling aspect, notnot for the motor, not for just
in general for four wheeling. I'lltake that Bronco over the CJ any day.
Oh really good. Like it's likedriving on a highway crawling rocks.
You can't. I mean, doyou have now do you have? Does

(01:19:55):
it have a creep mode? Wherereally slow? You know what do they
call that? In that? That? Oh mode? Poor poor low.
I mean there's several different modes infour low. It's got what they call
the goat modes. And typically Ijust go four low and and and operate
all that stuff by myself manually.Do you have a rat? Do you
have a rag top? No?No, it's a hard top. Those

(01:20:18):
are really you know, those vehiclesreally stepped out with that that design.
I love it. It's a littleretro. That's hard life they came out
was disappointing. But yeah, whenthe first it's okay. I mean the
big one though, that's a coolwell color do you have it's uh,
it's I don't know what they callvelocity blue. It's that really kind of

(01:20:39):
bright blue color. It's a beautifulI you know, I like those cars.
I like them a lot. Theythey really look cool and but do
and do you say that they're prettyluxurious or not? Uh, you know,
for what they are. Yeah,I mean, uh. We've taken
it on a few road trips andit's it's it's good for that too,
but you know it's no, it'sit's no luxury vehicle for the highway,

(01:21:02):
but for for off road it sureis, thank you very much. So
here's the deal. You you atleast got them thinking outside the box.
It's not it doesn't look like everythingelse in the world, and that's what
people are looking for. I'm convincedthat's why Rivian is doing so well,
just because it looks different. Youknow, people are just tired of Yeah,

(01:21:28):
Rivian looks cool, and then whatabout the You know that the cyber
truck I think as ugly as hell. But because it's so different, I
don't like it at all. No, I hate the way it looks,
but I can see why people likeit again because it's different. But I
heard there were some quality issues.I don't know on the build. I've

have a break in calls for thefirst time, So if you have any
kinds of problems, questions, orcomplaints, you can give us a call
and get right in at three ohthree seven one three Talk three h three
seven one three eight two five five. So one of the things we're talking

(01:23:08):
about in general is car Day.But also we have some other stuff going
on, as you know, andnow I'm not talking about the Trump trial,
but there's always consumer news to consider. Kevin first, I mean,
first, I want to ask Jeffvic camera transmission Kevin had to leave.

(01:23:28):
When it comes to checking out atransmission, I often wonder how much can
you check Let's just say you wantto buy a car and you're gonna get
it real cheap because it does haveone hundred hundred and fifty thousand whatever it
has on it. Just really, are there any predictors when it comes to
transmissions or is it a crap shot? There can be, I mean usually

(01:23:51):
you know, massive fluid discoloration setto smell inside the transmission. Uh,
But most of the time when you'redoing a spectrum of transmissions because there's a
complaints, so you've got focused onwhere you going to go to. Now,
what if somebody's selling you a carand you just want to know about
the transform, Well, a lotof times, you know a particular car
will know that this particular transmission hasa history of failure at X number of

(01:24:14):
miles, whether or not you're nearthat should we be taking a look obviously
for any leaks and stuff like that, But if the fluid indicates it,
should we drop the pan and looksee what enough there's any physical evidence as
mileage alone can just be alone. So so really I mean, if your
car's got a lot of miles onit, there's a very good possibility you're

(01:24:34):
going to come in to see me. So prolonging a transmission as much as
possible. What are the secrets themost fluid? Yeah, it's just changing
fluid and filters. You know,I know that a lot of the manufacturers
like to put these lifetime fluids intheir lifetime You're just going to ask that's
ridiculous. Well, once it dies, you've just expended as lifetime. But

(01:24:58):
you know, fluids are the mostinexpense the thing you're going to put inside
your car. Do they eat?But on those so called lifetime ones,
do they have sealed units or canyou get it? Call them sealed,
but they're not truly sealed. Whatthey've done is just taken away the dipstick
from the consumer so that you can'tcheck it yourself. Most cases, we
have to get it up and checkit from underneath, whether it's from a
port. And you can service it, yes, we can service them all.

(01:25:21):
Right, Eric, what's going onwith you? Eric? Welcome?
Hey? Tom? How are youthere? Good man? What's happening?
Hey? You know the woman whocalled it about wondering about a good place

passed away last year in March.And true, uh it's t r U

(01:25:45):

care of you know, they camein and they took care of us.
They brought in a comfort dog mydad who maybe you heard it, maybe
you didn't, but they, Uh, they did a great job. And
I would highly recommend that if shehas the option. Okay, it's called

(01:26:08):
true t are you and what?Well? Where are the locations? You
know what my dad died? Uh, well we're from Boulder, but my
dad died out in long months. So they go around and they follow up.
Are they in house? Are theyin house hospice? I don't believe.
So. I think they come inif they didn't charge us a thing

(01:26:30):
to come in and do what theydid. But what what But that sounds
like in house to me. No. I got them from from long months,
you know, I know. Butwhen you say they come in,
what does that mean? Yes,sir, they went to my dad's hospital
room. Oh really, yes, yeah, they came in. They brought

(01:26:53):
a comfort Like I said, theybrought a comfort dog in and what do
they stay do they do they continuethat care right through when he dies?
That's correct, my goodness. Yeahyeah, So anybody who's got anything going
on with that, I would highlyrecommend them. They were. They were
sweet and caring and take it.Takes a special kind of person to do

(01:27:16):
that stuff, as you know. All right, true, t are you.
I'm looking it up. Thank youso much. I appreciated three h

YouTube and on LinkedIn about Jeff Jolliffe. I've been threatening to do that
now. He has been on Sleevesbrigadefor a while, but I thought it
was time we actually step up theawareness because this guy is still still ripping

(01:28:03):
people off. Jeff Jolliffe. Hislatest place is in Johnston, Johnstown,
and he moved from Federal Boulevard. But he's been I counted eighteen names in
ten years. Eighteen names, andin each case the scenario is the same.
Those are only the ones that calledyou, that's true. No,

(01:28:25):
eighteen names meaning his business names nowas far as people that called me,
I think is far in excess tothat. I guarantee you can multiply it
by ten and then they're all thesame. Well not all exactly, but
one of the ones he used todo a lot was where they would he
would say he rebuilt the tranny ata low price. Right, Well,
he didn't do anything, because it'slike the spray painter or something. Because

Stolen cars? Right, they everrecovered Tom? And you just stolen vehicles

(01:29:09):
I know of. I don't know, but we know of. You know,
it's just amazing to me. Juststolen. And then then the ones
who weren't stolen, you just neverworked on. He's never done I don't
know if he's ever done a transmission. Actually, you know, that's a
pretty good gig if you can getit. You collect money up front,

(01:29:29):

open lines the first time today, but we have a lot to discuss now.
On that Jeff Jolliffe, somebody asksabout that on text. I posted

(01:30:48):
the video. Yes he is onSlea's brigade. He's still on there,
but I can't believe how many callswe still get. That's why I thought
people need to know about him.So I expanded the form them and went
to the new one, well, not the new one, but the new
form. In addition to the SleezeBrigade. I usually do my videos on

(01:31:11):
topics and issues, but this timeI did it on someone on the Sleaze
Brigade and it's quite popular, soI think I might continue to do that.
In other words, I think thatfrom now on, in addition to
Sleeese Brigades, I might do videoson these clowns because we need to find
out about them and we need tofigure out what to how to get the

(01:31:36):
word out as much as possible. So we do the radio show, the
Sleazebrigade dot Com plus my videos. Now I'm reading an article five cars no
one should ever buy, and I'mwondering why the top five vehicles not to
buy? And we're now this wasdone by Well. It's published on Truthful

(01:32:00):
and it's based on safety data. They say the Kyo the fifth one.
It's going five four three two oneright, The fifth one is the Kia
Rio. It landed itself in thetop five vehicles for highest death rates.

(01:32:21):
Have you heard of that, theKia Rio. I know it's a little
car. It's not an suv.I thought it would be with the name
like an suv. It's an entryvehicle. Despite being a really favorite subcompact
for affordability. It has the highestfatality rate per million or high, a

(01:32:45):
very high one, surprising being sosmall, Tom, I don't know.
It says one hundred. Now,now, this is what they're calling extremely
high. And by the way,no one wants to see anyone die,
right, one hundred and twenty twodeaths per million vehicles. So they're going
by per registered vehicles. It's ahatchback. Now, let's do do this.

(01:33:09):
Okay, wait, no, no, it's not a hashback. Hold
on, however, let's see it'soh no, no, never mind.
It says the hatchback version of thiscar is better, but as far as
the actual Kyrio. So if youcare about safety, this site seems to
be pretty pretty uh honest. TheChevrolet Spark is number four, one hundred

(01:33:33):
and fifty one desk per million registeredvehicles. Now that's all electric or is
that a hybrid? I think that'sall. I don't think that's a hybrid.
It's electric. There's the multipe workthough, Oh a, Warren,
what's going on? Warren? Hi? Tom? I called you before,
but my transmission was going out inmy car. It did finally go out.

(01:33:57):
It's a Nissan CenTra twenty seventeen. You said, go to camera transmissions.
But I live in Greeley, whichI know there's no good shops here,
but none. Don't go to Greeleyanything closer to me than yeah,
transmissions. Yeah, that's just well, you know. Now, remember camera
does transmissions. You can go toa good shop that can do transmissions,

(01:34:23):
but they don't specialize in them. And hands On Auto Tech would be close
to you. Okay, have youheard of that place? No? Where
are they located? Uh, Lovelandarea? Loveland, I believe, And
I can get it from Okay,I can look it up too. Okay,
so that's not bad. Hands OnAuto Tech is Tom Magio over at.

(01:34:46):
It's called hands On Auto Tech. And like I said, go to
referral lis dot com. You canfind it or I can look it up
just now. But it's it's nottoo far down. Then you won't have
to come all the way down. One more question, what should I what
should I expect for? Like,if I'm doing a new transmission, then
that for like a warranty Like nowwait a minute, wait a minute,

(01:35:11):
wait, you mean a rebuilt obviously, right, yeah, yeah, even
if you buy them from Nissan, those are rebuilt. Now, Nissan's recently
changed the warranty program. They usedto just be twelve twelve, uh,
but now some of them are goingto three year unlimited. But that is
transmission and vehicle specific. What isthat? What are those costs? Though
you're installed you depending on you're probablylooking somewhere around six fifty five to six

(01:35:36):
Okay, yeah that's what I've heard. But I just you know, spending
you know, five to six grand. I just want some kind of warranty
out of it, you know, yeah, just depending on I don't know
about you, how, but I'mspending that much money. I go to
a transmission shop. Now, Ilove hands on. They're great people and
they probably do transmission span. Theygot five star reviews or four point eight

(01:36:00):
or four seven. By the way, here's where they are. They're in
Long Wand okay on Vista Vista. You drive in Long Wan? How would
I I mean, here's their numberof you on it. I'm kind of
drying. Okay, oh no,no, okay, what were you gonna
say? Yeah, I'm just probablywe would have to rent a car,

(01:36:25):
dolly and tow it right, becausehaving a tow truck take it, there's
gonna be expressed. You're right,You're right, Yeah it is, Jeff,
do you have any special arrangements withtoe? People are not? No,
not really anymore. Pretty much everybody'sstandardized. Tom he always spent to
what about just ditching a car andif he has how much understand buying a
new one with a table because it'sonly a twenty seventeen Nissan Center He's going

(01:36:53):
to take a huge hit on thevalue of that car with it a twenty
seventeen Nissan CenTra. How many mileson it? Oh goodness, one hundred
ten maybe, But I'm upside downin it. I almost ten grand on
it. Still you are, Ohyou're gonna be You're going to owe another
six Yeah, Oh my god,I know you are upside down. You

(01:37:18):
are totally. I wish I neverwould have bought that car. It's you
know, well, after the factyou're in the transmission is a common problem
in that car? When did youbuy it four years three to four years
ago? Something like that? FromJohn Elway on a Rapaho road. It's

(01:38:45):
that, uh, Brian, youhad called earlier. I'm sorry you didn't
get through. Go ahead, Brian, What is your question, sir?
A couple things, Tom. Well, first off, I did call a
bit ago about sold security and aboutreporting a death in the family, and
you had given me a number tocontact, and unfortunately that number was the
same number I used before, andI have still yet to connect with them
to report the death on that one. Why is that? I don't know.

(01:39:14):
I'm gonna have to take a fullday off and just wait on,
wait a minute, you mean totell me that you could not get through.
I could not. You might haveto make an appointment. Man,
you may have to go in inperson. Now that that doesn't take all
day to make an appointment, andthen you show up and you just bring
the death certificate and do it.Yeah, I think that's why I've just

(01:39:38):
been so darned busy at work. It's been hard to break away. But
needless to say, that's that littleupdate. But my next one was I
got hit pretty bad last night withthe hailstorm. I got a claim coming.
I got a claim with my insurancecompany already, and they're coming out
on Monday. But I had alreadytalked to Xcel Roofing to come out and
look at the roof on Monday atnine am give me an assessment of just

(01:40:00):
replacing it. Unfortunately, I guess, and Kelly Conon told me that I
should always have the roofer come outfirst, and then YE go out and
have the insurance guy out. IfI have damage, you have a reputable
roofer and if you have damage, then you have the insurance come out.
If you have the insurance come outfirst, whether you have damage or not,

(01:40:24):
it'll count against you. Oil itokay, because I have damage on
my sighting. There's holes in itand there's some on my windows. If
it's pretty obvious. If it's prettyobvious, then it's okay. Did you
have the roofer? Look, Imean the adjuster look at it already yet.
No, he's coming on Monday atthe exact same time as the roofer.
What roofer's coming Excel? Excel?Yeah, well that's good because Excel

(01:40:49):
won't make a deal with him.I would not normally want a roofer and
an adjuster to be there together.Yeah, that's what Kelly was saying.
I go, I messed up onthat one. But I was thinking,
yeah, but you didn't mess upbecause you have Excel and Excel will not
do that game. A lot ofroofers when they meet with your adjuster,

(01:41:10):
you never find out what you needed. Oh okay, you only find out
what they're willing. See. Here'swhat I'm getting at. The insurance company
wants to cut your losses as muchas possible. They don't want to fix
it properly. They'll do anything theycan to cut corners anything. They don't
care. So a roofer like Excelor a good roofer, they want to

(01:41:35):
fix it properly. Okay, Sowhat usually happens is if you have the
roofer go first. The roofer tellsyou what you need. Then when the
adjuster comes out, you can findout if in fact, you are getting
what you need if they go outthere to if they go out there together,

(01:41:59):
or if a roof is stupid enoughto say I'll do whatever your insurance
company wants. Well, you don'twant that roofer because the insurance company that
doesn't want what's best for you.So if they both go out there together,
what you never find out is whatthe roofer thought you needed, because
a conversation can take place like this. The roofer says, well, we're
going to do this, this, and this, and the adjuster says we're

(01:42:20):
not paying for that, we're onlygoing to pay for this. Do you
want the job or not? Andthe roofers say okay, fine. Then
the roofer presents you with a contract. You think you're getting everything you need
and you're not. You don't knowwhat kind of deal they made. Privately,
and roofers will make deals with adjustersto get the job. Okay,
So because it's a corrupt industry, and both insurance and roofing they're both corrupt.

(01:42:44):
Now, that's why I don't wanta meeting together. Okay. However,
because Excel doesn't play that game.If the roofer says, if the
insurance company says, we're not payingfor that, do you want the job
or not, Excel will say no, I don't want the job. If
you're not going to do it right, then they're going to come back to
you and say, Brian, yourinsurance company is trying to short you.

(01:43:08):
Okay, yeah, but normally, for anyone else listening, you first get
a roofer to come out and makethe roofer put everything down in writing on
the contract everything. If the roofersays he wants to meet with the adjuster,
no. If the roofer says yougot to sign this contract or this

(01:43:29):
first, no. If the roofersays, I'll do whatever your insurance company
wants, no. All you wantto do is for the roofer to do
a full and complete contract without yoursignature first, and without authorization that you're
going to hire them. They puttheir money where their mouth is. Once
you get there a complete and fullbid, then you call your insurance company

(01:43:54):
and that's how it's normally done.Three three seven one three talk seven one

(01:47:00):
We will get them on. Okay, I have a call in to
them. Three oh three, sevento one three talk seven one three eight
two five five. We were doinga list of the five cars according to
safety truthfully dot com is the nameof the website. Anyway, they were
making a they were making a listof the unsafest cars. The Kia was

(01:47:24):
the fifth nave. Well, itgoes from five to four to three to
one. They say Kia is thefifth least safest car. The Kia Rio
sedan, not the hatchback, butthe regular sedan. The Chevrolet Spark is
the fourth most dangerous car. Theseare deaths per million. The Hyundai Accent

(01:47:45):
is the third. These are alllittle sedans basically, and that's right behind
the uh, the Chevy Spark andthen the Dodge Challenger. Hmmm, that's
the only one that's a full sizedcar. That's I wonder how much that
has to do with the people whodrive those cars. You know what.

(01:48:08):
That's a very high performance car, isn't it? In most cases? Yes,
that's what this is. It's themost powerful performance one of the most
powerful performance cars. It's a musclecar. It's a throwback, a bit
of a throwback, isn't Yeah.Yeah, that made a big bang on
the market. It was the numberone unsafe car in deaths per million.

(01:48:32):
Ready, it's a van. Itlooks like a minivan, the Mitsubishi Mirage,
despite its fuel economy and affordability twohundred and five deaths per million.
And of course that's because they transportpeople in vans like that. But anyway,

(01:48:58):
do you think that's because you know, in most cars you have the
engine in front of the passenger compartment, so that absorbs some of the shock,
and some of those vans it's strakeddown so there's no engine. This
is actually a subcompact. It isnot a van. Are youssuring? It
looked like one to me, Jeff? But don't you think that cars with

(01:49:18):
it? Well, cars today,I mean they make crumple zones all over
these things. They design them sothat the car gets destroyed and the passenger
survives. Except in this one. Now, three oh three seven, one,
three, eight, two, fivefive another one. I wanted to
tell you about hold On. Wherewas it? It was a pretty uh

(01:49:40):
pretty Oh. So we talked aboutcondominiums being a bad buy. Right now,
you're you're going to be seeing alot of good sales on them.
But what I say, a badbuye a bad value. This is very
important. If you're a young personand you see, wow, this is
pretty reasonable, I think I'll buyit. You could end up with more
deb then you know what to dowith. And here's what's going on.

(01:50:04):
Condos right now are facing a crisis. A lot of them are getting to
the point where they need just regularmaintenance, just regular maintenance like parking lots
maybe who knows, fences, mainlyparking lots, stairways, concrete work that
will end up with assessments against eachand every unit. When you sign up

(01:50:29):
for a condo or a townhome development, you agree to pay a portion of
well, it's part of it.You have to pay your portion of the
expenses, and they're trying to keepthe fees lower because of expensive insurance.
Therefore, everything else comes out ofassessments, which means you're going to have
to kick in your share of themoney. Now in addition to that,

(01:50:51):
the insurance, the insurance itself rightnow in some cases have tripled and quadrupled,
or you have zero deductibles. Youhave no deductibles and actual cash value,
which means if you need a roof, you guys could end up spending
fifteen grand per condo or ten grandper condo, or with you with maintenance

(01:51:14):
and insurance, you could end upwith basically doubling the price of your condo
again on assessments only. Now,that is something happening, like it or
not, and people say, well, look, you know they can play.
What's funny is they call and theycomplain about their management company or their
hoa. Hey, it ain't yourmanagement company or your hoa. It's unless

(01:51:34):
they're taking the money and going toTahiti. It's usually just they don't have
the money to pay their bills. And if they don't have the money to
pay their bills, they go tothe homeowners and divide it up. You
are part of a co op,well, it's actually a condominium and that's
a legal term when you read thecondominium's agree the agreements. You really just

(01:51:56):
all get together and pay common expenses. And if you don't have enough in
the kitty to do it through monthlyassessments. Then they do a special assessment.
It is going to be a crisis. People are losing their homes.
Listen to this in Florida. It'seven worse in Florida because of the hurricanes
and stuff. Many listen to this. Many of the town homes and condos.

(01:52:24):
Well, I'm it's going to giveyou an example. There was a
there was a condo purchased, afifteen hundred square foot condo for one hundred
ninety thousand dollars was purchased. Okay, now listen to this. This was

(01:52:45):
in twenty nineteen. He bought alittle fifteen hundred square foot condo for one
hundred ninety thousand dollars. Guess whathis assessment is, one hundred and thirty
four thousand. It damn near doubledthe price of his condo. Think about

(01:53:08):
that. Now there's another one. There's another guy who paid three hundred and
fifty first condo in Florida, andbecause of these assessments, he had to
sell it. Do you know whathe sold it for one hundred and ten
thousand dollars. You know it'd begreat to encompass on the phone and see
what they have a policy that coversfor assessments. Well, they do,

(01:53:31):
but they don't come. Yeah, let me explain this. They cover for
assessments, meaning, and this isimportant, the assessment has to be part
of a deduction, a deductible, and for a covered peril. So if
your place needs a parking lot,or if your place needs decks or stairways

(01:53:56):
or concrete work, that doesn't coverit its own. Only for a covered
peril, and only for the deductible. So if you have no insurance or
a zero deductible, they won't payit. If you have an ACV policy,
they won't pay it. Or inthe best case scenario, they pay

(01:54:20):
up to a certain amount up toten or fifteen or twenty best case scenario.
And many of the assessments are comingin at thirty to forty to fifty
thousand dollars. It is I'm tellingyou, it is a major crisis.
And here's what I predict we're goingto see in the future because of the

(01:54:42):
insurance and the deferred maintenance. Here'syou will re write down what I'm saying
on May thirty first, and I'vesaid it before, but write down May
thirty first, at one fifteen inthe afternoon. Here's what I'm saying.
You're going to see a massive exodus, bankruptcies and foreclosures of town homes and

(01:55:03):
condos. They're going to glut themarket. The prices are going to crash,
and it will be our next housingcrisis. All right, Pat,
what's going on with you? Pat? Hey? How you doing? Tom
good Man? What's going on?Hey? I'm going on nineteen thirty five
Ford tutor in Wait a minute,Wait a minute, wait wait, I

(01:55:27):
thought I think I misheard you.I think I think you said thirty nineteen
thirty five. Yes, sir,so like one of those hot rod kind
of cars that you rebuild right.Oh no, sir, it's original.
It's got plaid head and everything init. Are you crapping me? Where'd
you find? Oh they're beautiful, but aren't but don't people make hot rods
out of them? Oh? Thiswill? This has been in my family

(01:55:50):
for fifty years? How many?Let me ask you? What condition is
it in? Great? It winsa lot of original awards and it hasn't
been restored. No, sir,it's original paint and everything. Okay,
what is your question. I needto radiator. Wrot it out. It's

(01:56:15):
trying to overheat on the warm days. And it's not exhaust gases or anything.
It's just the radiator's not blowing properly. Got two water pumps on it.
My god, what do you doabout that? I'm not if there's
anybody in town still doing that. Most of us just remove and replace.
Now, No, that's what I'msaying. You need it repaired or did

(01:56:38):
you look for a new one.I'm trying to keep that original. I
don't want to put an aluminum oneon there. Oh they do have replacement
ones, yes, yes, sir. Oh you're trying, so you're trying
to get the one in there repaired? Yes, sir. Wow, would

(01:56:58):
it take a welding shop? AndI've used them before a long time ago,
and they are still in business asa place called gold Star Radiator.
They are over What do they do. They'll actually go through it, They'll
comb it and they'll they'll run assetthrough it, clean it all out,
renew it basically. Yeah, theyusually take the top of the tank off

(01:57:18):
and brought it s d down throughthe journals. Yeah, a lot of
them will actually run a chemical throughthere in order to help clean those out.
But uh, that's more of theirbusiness than his mind. I've never
wanted to comb a radiator if you'veever seen it done with their hands look
like Hamburger. But they're still inbusiness. Okay, I got that written

(01:57:38):
down. Okay, now I havethe answer on the hail dings, if
we can get that guy back,Katchina, I do have the answer.
I texted somebody. He had togo. Okay, good. Now you
wanted to know how many hail dingson a ten by ten square? Now

(01:58:04):
you have to have, according tomost insurance standards, the presence of more
than eight things every ten x tenon at least three sides of the house.
Okay, so at least eight hailhits in a ten x ten area,

(01:58:30):
So eight per ten by that's almostone per square foot, almost but
not quite. And it's on threesides of the roof. John, welcome,
what's going on? Yeah? Canyou hear me? Yes, sir,
hey, I have a question aboutshocks and struts. I have a

do they normally just change out theshock portion or do they change this?
You can do it either way.You can do it either way. Anymore
is far more simple because you'll getwhat's called loaded struts what comes as assembly,

(02:00:26):
and there's literally a bolt out boltin. Okay, all right,
thank you, sure, John, appreciate the call. Robert, what's going
on with your starter? Now?What kind of camper is this? Sir?
Hey, Tom, it's not astarter. It's a nineteen seventy nine
roll along camper and it doesn't havevery many miles on it. And when

(02:00:47):
I bought it from the owner,it started fine. My question is just
that the vehicle has been sitting sincewhat did you what did he call it
a roll along camper? Yeah? What is that? Well, it's a
nineteen seventy nine and I'm just startingwhat is a Jeff, do you know

(02:01:09):
what he means by that term rollalong camper? No, I'm not real
familiar with it. Well, whatdo you call it? Is it a
class A? You know where youdrive it and it's your home. Well,
is it a motor a class Amotor home? Yeah, it's not
a fifth wheel, but okay,it's a it's a it's an RV,

(02:01:30):
yes, sir, what kind?Well, what's the make? So it's
basically a Ford pickup chassis with acamper on it. Yes, that's right.
Oh what is it called a rollalong camper? Yeah? It's about
nineteen twenty feet long. Okay,I see what you're saying. Yeah,

(02:01:50):
okay, yeah, but my questionis, uh, before I try to
start it again, do you recommendtreating the gasoline that was in it?
Now, by the way, thisroll along that I'm seeing is like on
a not a regular pickup truck, but it's not like on a big big
rig. Is that what he's talkingabout. That's what they're calling you roll

(02:02:14):
No, it's a regular pickup truck, a regular pickup truck, but it
is a cap or described by theguests there. Yeah, okay, go
ahead, then I'm sorry, sosorry. How long has it been sitting?
It'll be two years August. Iwould probably actually empty that gas.
Does gas deteriorate? Yes, itdoes? I mean, if you know

(02:02:34):
a year you know, you goahead and run it. But at two
years, no, you're gonna havesome big deterioration. There's some running issues.
It's gonna follow on. You justempty it out, what's say?
And the filter, Yeah, changethe filter okay? And then with new
gas, do I need to putsome type of treatment as well? You

(02:02:55):
know, it wouldn't be a badidea. Does use some forty four K
the BG forty four K green. You can get it at your local NAPA.
It's a cleaner's so it means moreso for injectors and whatever. I
was told, if you put astabilizer in the fuel, you can extend
the life of fuel. Yes,so you know we will do it with

(02:03:17):
our snowmobiles and you go to thesummer and whatnot. I'm going to say,
like, I have a tank thatI think I've had there a year
and a half maybe two years,that I haven't used yet because I didn't
get to the bottom of it.But I put stabilized. I don't know
if it's even good. You know, with a good amount of stable inside
there, you could probably stretch itup to two years. Man. So

(02:03:38):
gasoline does have a shelf life mostdefinitely Tom. Yeah, Hey, on
another topic real quick. Hey,I've listened to your show forever every day,
and it was a year ago thatI called Bonnie Shields and she helped
me and my wife with a parentaldecision making case and it ended in our

(02:04:02):
in well we we are non biologicalparents, and we were granted uh significant
time with this child. And hecalls me dad, and well that's good.
I'm glad. I'm glad that workedout for you, Bonnie. Bonnie
is really good at what she does. Of course, I think she's she's

(02:04:24):
slowing down a bit in her practice, but she's still she was really good.
Yeah, she's still active though.Yeah, thank you very much,
Robert appreciate it. Terry wants totalk about sensor lights. Hi, Terry,
Hi Tom, how are you good? What are you talking about?

(02:04:45):
The what kind of sensor lights?Well, there are two of them.
The one that says my tires alow, oh sensor light like like you have
a warning light based on a tiresensor. I hate tie sensors. I'm
getting errors. I get them.I get errors all the time, and
then Jeff, out of nowhere, the errors go away. We've got four

(02:05:08):
vehicles, three of them have thecentral lights on. I stopped scrolling with
them as long as there's airing. And I drove by Discount Tired because I
bought my tires there and they theycheck them. They say you're perfect.
But is that what's going on withyou, Terry? Yes, except one
time I did have a real flat. Yeah, I know it. That's
the problem. You got to payattention, but you don't know when they're
lying to you. Yeah, okay. And there's another one. Okay,

(02:05:31):
it's a Volkswagen convertible. If Iput the top down, the car thinks
I'm speeding, no matter what itthinks you're what it thinks I'm speeding?
What does that mean? It thinksyou're speeding? It's beeping, beeping,
beeping, beeping. Oh, itthinks I'm driving too fast and I'm not.

(02:05:53):
Well, hold on, let meask you something. This beeping.
My car never beeps at me.When does your car beep when you're speeding?
It just well, under normal conditions, there's a beeper that goes when
you're speeding. Yes, Now,when you say that, does it mean
like speeding? How fast is it? Does it read the speed limit?

(02:06:17):
Like I my car because of theGPS. It knows where it is,
and it knows where the speed limitis. And I go with a sure

Martino, your troubleshooter three oh threeseven one three talk three O three seven
one three eight two five five SoGreg, what is happening? Sir?
Hi? Uh, my car?I was driving it, then I parked

(02:07:26):
it. I pulled it up inmy driveway just to move it. And
the next day I went out totry to start it. It will turn
over, but it won't fire.Hmm. And how how much does it
turnover? A lot? I meanit does it? It just no problem
with the battery. I mean itdoes it? Does it? Try?
Does it? Go like it's gonnastart, Yeah, like for a little

(02:07:50):
while, for a second, ornot at all, Not at all,
Jeff. That sounds like no spark, right or no fuel? No fuel?
Most likely no fuel. So Imean those fuel tanks are fuel pumps
rather can give out just on amoment's notice. Sometimes you can get underneath
there and tap on the fuel tankand it'll try to start because you've disturbed.

(02:08:11):
Is there an easy way to checkto see whether it's spark or Yeah,
you put a pressure gauge on thefuel tap. I'll tell you right
away. Okay, a pressure gaugeon the fuel tank and on the fuel
tap. Was actually there's a fueltap. Now, there is a fuel
tap, like I said, at or something. It's just like a

(02:08:31):
straight valve like you're on. You'retired, okay, So you hook up
to that, you hook your pressuregauge up to it, and you see
what kind of pressure you've got there, Oh thirteen, that should be pop
off injectors. So he's probably shouldbe running somewhere around forty seven to fifty
pounds of pressure in order and ifhe's trying to start it and it doesn't
pressurize it doesn't pressurize, or ifthe pressure's too low, very good,
very good. Where is that usuallylocated. It's under the hood along the

(02:08:54):
fuel rail. So that's something thismechanics should be checking for him, unless
he's did you ever have that checkedfuel pressure? No? No, I
haven't done anything yet. I Iwas going to go to AutoZone and borrow
a code reader. The code lighted, a code show a lack of pressure.
Generally will not show a lack ofpressure. But if he does have

(02:09:16):
a light on, that it's worthlooking into before it's just a light that
shows my engine. Okay, Anddoes that light come on when you turn
the key and it stays on?Yes? Yeah, this is you may
not have a code there because they'llgo through self test and I'll stay on
to you. Has it let meask you this? Has it done this

(02:09:37):
before and then corrected itself? Never? Just one day you started, you
tried to start, it wouldn't start, That is correct. Do fuel pumps
go like that? I had minego out after I filled up. I
pulled up to the tank filled up, and of course with a full tank,
now I gotta drain it. Butyeah, they'll go out, snap
of a finger, what do youthink it would cost to have a few

(02:10:00):
fuel pump replaced if needed, ora fuel filter? We don't, Well,
the fuel filter is going to bepart of that fuel pump, so
because it all much inside the tank. So they did that for cooling purposes.
On high pressure fuel system, pumpsare not in the engine department.
No, no, they're in thetank. So my guesstimen on that one,

(02:10:20):
you're probably looking somewhere between six andseven six and seven, what one
hundred? Oh? Okay, now, how long have fuel pumps been in
the gas tank? Ever since theystarted going to the high pressure fuel systems?
They have found that they could tenyears, twenty years, no if
it's been all of twenty years plus. But they needed to keep them submerged
to keep them cool under those pressures. They were developing too much heat and

(02:10:43):
they had a higher rate of failure. Okay, very good, Thank you,

go to Deputy Bow. Deputy Bow, what's going on? Bhy there?

(02:11:31):
I want to give a comment tothis individual that called the show an hour
ago, and he called last weekabout his issue with not getting through the
Social Security about recording the death ofthe rest. Yes. So, I
was on the phone with them todayand I've talked to them for the last
couple of weeks. I have areal good phone number. Now he may

(02:11:52):
have to wait an hour and ahalf like I did today, but they've
always picked up. I want togive that number out to that call or
if you're still listening, I knowwho he is and we can get it
to him. If you want togive it to Kachina, she'll put it
on the call screener and then wewill give it to him. Kachina,

(02:12:13):
could you get that number from Bow? So bo? Is it a different
number than's published on the Internet. This goes into the Colorado office and I
don't know, but I've had I'vehad to contact Social Security in the last
three weeks and they picked up everytime. All right, thank you appreciate

(02:12:35):
that. Wow, Rodney, what'sgoing on with you? Rodney? Hey,
Tom, thanks for taking my call. Yes, sir, so unfortunate
story. I took my truck intoa make O dealership and you know,
it was a need for an overview. And anyway, six thousand dollar later,

(02:13:01):
it came out of this shop lastnight and I was going to pick
it up today and they got hitby that day Aurora hailstorm and it's completely
totals. Oh wow, now youunderstand you? Is My question to you
is, of course, you knowwhen you're go into the dealership, your

(02:13:22):
emotions are high and uh I wasnot happy obviously, but I understand it's
an act of God. But isthere any any thought process that you have.
Yeah, we we've on through thishundreds of times. Well, they're
not responsible for any of it now. The only way possible they would be
responsible is if they promised you itwas like you know, it's hal like

(02:13:48):
I did this once when I hada fancy car years ago, I had
a ferrari and I went to dropit off, and I said to them,
can you guarantee this will be insideand stay inside? And they said
they said no, and I said, oh, okay. He said,
now you can leave it here, but we don't have enough room to keep

(02:14:11):
them all inside, or or thenthere were times they said yes, we
have enough room. But the pointis it's got to be something that creates
what's called a bailment. It createsa contract and an agreement for extra security.
Now, the other way they wouldbe responsible is if they're working on
the car and they see the hellcoming the storm, and they say,

(02:14:33):
let's pull his car out. Iwant to pull my car in. Something
like that could be considered negligent.Short of that, it's just it's just
terrible. I mean, it's likeif you went to your friend's house to
to have a barbecue and there wasa hailstorm. Your friend's not responsible.
Yeah, okay, yeah, Iagree with God. Doesn't doesn't that suck?

(02:14:56):
Though? Huh? Well, youknow I spoke to God. He
said he didn't do it. Itwasn't act of God. Yeah, he
told me directly. That was asix thousand dollars mistake of nature right there.
Hey, let me ask you something. Had you had it at home,
it wouldn't have gotten damaged. No, it wouldn't have because I'm where

(02:15:18):
I live in Aurora. We actuallyhad just wind and actually no help.
How many cars over there were hit? Do you know? Oh my god,
I got pictures of ferraris and stuffin there with complete window blow up.
Oh no, My truck was aDodge twenty five two thousand and six
and it just banged it up.It didn't take out the windows or anything,

(02:15:41):
but some of the newer models,I mean it took out older windows.
It was. It was quite anevent over there. Wow. Well
I'm really happy though that. Wow. Yeah, I mean I'm not happy,
but I'm happy that you now arenot going to try to hold them
responsible and get your insurance to paythe damn thing. You know, so
many people fight that battle and itjust doesn't work. Jeff. Have you

(02:16:05):
ever had cars at your place thatgot slammed? Yeah, we've had vehicles
that got damage. Something was completelyout of our control. Garage keepers is
not gonna do anything. No,and quite frankly, nine out of ten
customers will try to argue with youthat it, but most of them understand,
Yeah, what are you gonna do? It's outside of Hales, right,
it's Colorado. Now have you noticed, you know, right down the

(02:16:26):
street from you, do you noticethe new uh the car dealers all have
these new awnings. Now, yeah, I'm sure their insurance probably mandated it.
I mean like there's almost like Idon't know of any open car lots
anymore like to us for the newestof the newest inventory anyway. Sheridan Shardan
