Speaker 1 (00:00):
Congressman Troy Walterson joining me today. How you doing, old buddy.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
I'm fantastics could be back in uh Central.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
Hi.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
I'm glad you are back. I'm glad you're here. I'm
glad you came in today. You just you just came
off of a plan.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Just landed. Now.
Speaker 4 (00:13):
I gave you a head to up to death.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I thought like, man, we're gonna we're fighting this thing
out here, so let's let's keep our fingers crossed.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
Right.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
I felt good we'd be back today. So fly was
little delayed, but here we are.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
You called me yesterday morning and you were like, so
I got you know, I was supposed to fly back
yesterday but because of this thing which we'll get to
here in a second. But you're like, all right, I'm
flying out tomorrow morning, being today this morning, and you're like,
I'll be back because I got a thing I got
to get to. But I'm just and my head's like
like spinning around as you're telling me all this, and
then just now like I see you come in and
(00:46):
I'm like, I'm like, what's up, man?
Speaker 4 (00:48):
You go I just actually got here.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I just landed because did you get delayed coming out
of you fly out.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Of yeah, out of Reagan.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yeah, so you got delayed, which is, like you said, typical.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Especially the early.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Morning flights are the ones you have more of a
chance of being on time.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Later it gets in the middle of the day, the
heat of the day.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Because you don't know where the planes are coming from,
and storms.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Coming in and everything. So it's it's been pretty rough.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Yeah. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
So I had a guy, a buddy of mine in
Congress out of Nevada, sat on the tarmac for four
hours Monday night because of the lightning strikes. They don't
bring the crew out, which I get it and understand it,
but they there's a timer between lightning strikes, and when
that timer kicks on, but another lightning strikes come come
(01:38):
hits again. Yeah, it restarts the clock again. But they
were on a regional jet for four hours. He said,
they brought us water.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
That was it.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
That was it, I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
And so they can't get off the plane because they
can't have staff come out, correct, because they it's not
like they can all just do it themselves from just
the people inside the aircraft. Correct, they got to have
people on the outside. Get you, d well, that does
make sense, But man, what I what a terrible like
situation to get stuck here, But you know what would
be more terrible falling out of the sky because you
(02:10):
got struck by lightning or whatever as you're trying to
take off.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
So wingos flying off and then that's it.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
You and I talk about that. We said that little
prayer before telling me that bird takes up.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Dude, I lay hands on the plane. I've just said
it before on the air I do. I walk by
and go, Lord Jesus, please and take the wheel. If
I could quote Carrie Underwood.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
I'm just like, I'm like please, and I'm just like,
you know, help these pilots and all, you know, I
just had just since we're talking about this, it just
popped into my head.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yesterday. You know, Alex Stone from ABC News was on
with me. He was doing a report on that Air
India flight that was taken off and then off. Well
that the pilot was the one that shut off the
fuel and it's in the recording, the cockpit recording and
the the what do you call the assistant pilot or
what the co cope co pilot was like why did
(03:04):
you turn off? I guess the verbict like it's actually
him asking it. It's on that from what I understand,
why did you turn? And the pilot was really calm
about it, And they're starting to speculate that it might
have been like a suicide side. I mean, it's the
saddest thing ever. All it took all those people with
HS like, dude, you know, uh, hijack an aircraft by yourself.
(03:27):
Then if that's the if you you know, you're too
much of a you know what, to off yourself with
a gun or whatever like that, why'd you take a
bunch of innocent people with you?
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Man? Like, what is that?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
And that's the flight that had one survivor?
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Oh yeah yeah, and I forgot about that. Yeah, everybody
made it, but that guy or no, no past past,
but that guy, yeah he actually made anyway.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
So we're we're here.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
That's that's what matters right now. Crazy, I'm glad to
be here. And you look fantastic people. I mean, last
time I was on, we were talking about Chuck and
you know, he barely he's fit, he's pants and whatnot. Yeah,
you look great too.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
So good for you guy. Thanks man.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
You know, I'm in maintenance, but I'm actually back down
because it's it's up and down, you know, when you're
in maintenance. And as somebody who has I have struggled with,
you know, being you know, you know, overweight, not like
crazy wheyeight, not like crazy crazy, but enough to where
(04:24):
it's been at times in my life uncomfortable. I mean,
at one point my I ballooned to two fifty five.
That was like my biggest and that was during COVID.
It was awful, man, but I started to during that time.
It was the weirdest time of my life.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
I just gave up. I was like, I'm just eating
whatever I want. I don't care. And it showed you.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
That was the time when I met Governor Nome and
I have those pictures and I'll show people now because
of obviously Secretary Nome. I'm like, oh, yeah, hey, I
know her, I met her and all this stuff for besties.
And I show them the picture and they're like, like,
somebody put a hose in your butt and turned it on,
like what happened? You exploded there? And I'm like, oh, yeah,
(05:05):
forget about that. Like They're like, holy cow, how much
weight have you lost since then? I'm like, well, I
just got what I did? Was you know, I came
back down to earth and said, okay, take it easy here,
fat kids.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
She was at the White House, had me down for
the signing of the whole Fentanyl Act the other day,
and Christy was there. Yeah, Segretary Nome was there, so yeah, yeah,
it's Christy nom.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah. Yeah, what can you say. I was begging her
at the time, will you please be our governor?
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Is what I was saying. And she's just laughing, you know,
during that, like she's like, I hear that a lot.
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
So when I won a special election, she was still
in Congress, So I mean, I don't know her that
well at all that she was running for governor after
I won a special election. So right, she's she's really
really close friends with Mark Wayne Mallin. Oh yeah, Mark,
Mark's senator.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Now he's a bad mammagama is who he is?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
A bad mammagamma And I see him in the gym
every morning. So but yeah, so they're they're like really
close friends.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Who was it recently And by recent I mean maybe
in the last year where they started having words.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
It was a teamster. Teamster, that's it. Yeah, And he
started taking his rings off.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
And was getting up from the from the I.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Was like, he's an mr guy though, right he is, Oh, yeah,
you don't want to mess with him.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
No, I was going out for you know, I had
to be down early. You got to get there early sometimes.
And and there's Mark Wayne all by himself working out
in the gym.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Oh yeah, he's a beast, a beast.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
He's moving some weight and and and oddly enough, he
doesn't even need any kind of security.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
He's his own security. No, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
He probably yeah, and he'll tell you is yeah hit anybody.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Wow, that's cool though. He's a good guy, really cool.
Uh when was the last time you were at the
White House?
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Not too long ago?
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Too long?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
You were just telling me, which is why I said it. Yeah, no,
so pretty cool. It is really cool.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
And the President, we're watching him as you got on
TV right now, doing the first ever yeah cryptocurrency. So
it's really neat. And and when I was down there
the other day, he had all the families impacted by
fentanyl and the deaths of their children and they lined
up behind him. And you know, again you and I
have talked about this. This is the gracious part of
Donald Trump that you normally don't see. And for him
(07:15):
to allow, I shouldn't say for him to allow, but
he had members of the family, some mothers come up,
and he even held a photo of one of the
children that died from a fentanyl death. And you know,
he's holding the picture, why she's saying a few words.
So it was it was a wonderful experience for the parents.
I had a couple of parents that were sitting behind
(07:35):
me that had also lost children, and they had their
pictures of their kids there too. So it's probably one
of the best bill signings I've ever been to.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Very cool. We just talked about how you were.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
You ended up getting out of the swamp last night
a little bit late because you guys were part of
you know this, the clawback the nine billion dollars from
the budget that as the headline is House narrowly Okays
because the Senate signed off on it, they changed it
a little bit, right, I think you were saying, yeah,
and so House Narrowly Okay's effort to claw back nine
(08:11):
bill from the budget bill with a B bill Yon,
including cuts to public broadcasting and USAI D And so.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Why are you laughing when I say I'm not laughing. Well,
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to put you on blast
by saying, but at some you.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Know, when you think of you know, NBR, and you
think of public broadcasting, you know it's woke, woke, woke woke.
And if it would have been more middle of the road,
I feel like this might not have been something because
that's being paid for by us.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
It's so silly and it's not even about the wokeness
of it all. Let's take that away from it. All.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
That was my own take it.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
But I mean, just in general, I mean sixteen w
TVN doesn't get any government funding. No, the majority of
the AM radio station that are out there don't get
public funding, I mean FM radios.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
I mean, look, should it be slanted is the question,
and the answer is no, No, it should not be.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Should be the middle of the room.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
And if they you know, they want to invest and
raise money, let them raise money. What made me giggle
was is because they had big bird characters and DC
lobbying a month ago, and Elmo that was the other one. Elmo.
We're killing Elmo. But it look, it's a fraction of
(09:32):
what they what they receive is what we cut. I
mean there could be more, but it was a fraction.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah, And it's funny how they always end up. The
left always ends up using you're killing Elmo, or it
doesn't matter, whatever it is, whatever is on the chopping
block or whatever you're talking about. They go right to
possibly just this little teeny tiny minute example of something
(10:01):
that is a possibility, not even like for sure, just
a possibility of something that's being eliminated or could be eliminated,
just like what they're doing with tariffs and saying, you know.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
What a couple of couple of when this whole thing started,
Liberation Day.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Get the numbers out there. It's it's amazing.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Yeah, you know. NBC News Trump's new tariffs. This is
in April, April third. Trump's new tariffs will hit lower
income households the hardest. CBS is going. Here's why experts
think Trump's tariffs could hurt the US economy. On April fourth,
April ninths, CNBC Trump tariffs when consumers should expect inflation
(10:41):
price hikes to hit wallets, Yet low and behold things
are not only not happening that way, they're going the
other way. You know, the way it's designed and look
and We talk about this all the time.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
You don't throw seeds.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Down that you're trying to plant for fill in the
blank on whatever. The seeds will be growing and the
next day go, well, it's it's not here yet.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
I just why isn't that tomato plant giving me these big,
beautiful red tomatoes.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Will you just planted it yesterday? I know, but they
should be out already. Well, that's not how that works.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
He wants to take.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Stuff right now. Yeah, it will, and it's it's going
to continue to get better. The economy. I mean, the
stock market is still a record high, but look it's
let's not include the stock market. In the twelfth congressional district.
People were in a good place. I mean, they're they're
they're they're happy. I mean, it's it's interesting to me.
(11:34):
And I don't know if you catch us or not.
I predominantly watch Squawkbox, the NBC not doing the out there.
But Ken Langhorn lang Langon, who was one of the
co founders of Home Depot, was on Squawkbox the other
morning live. He's he's gonna nine years old Sharper's attack,
but he was not a President Trump's supporting him in
this next election. But he wasn't really fond of Vice
(11:57):
President Harris. But what he was he was concerned that
the president, you know that forty five, would come back
and retaliate and be upseaid about everything. But he said,
before he even started with the interview talking to Joe
Curnan and Becky and Adam.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
This is a squawkbox.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
This is squawkbox, he said, I want this to be
heard right now, before I even start talking. I was wrong.
This president has done amazing things. This country is back
on track. America is proud to be America again. He said,
when he did the Iran piece, you didn't hear a
peep out any other country, did you, because they knew
(12:34):
America was back. So this gentleman retracted what he said
and said, this president has made this country feel strong again.
And that's that's what it's all about. And that's the
feeling that people have in the state of Ohio, in
the twelfth Congressional district everywhere you go.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Isn't in a similar story or storyline with the founder
of Home Depot with regard to he kind of has
done a one eighty as well.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Had And that's what he was saying that he's the
one that did the one eighty Kin did and you know,
he'd liked forty five when he did. He loved his
tax policy, he loved everything about it. But he was
concerned coming back and running again because he would. He
felt like the president was going to come after the
people that came after him, and he wanted him to
focus and getting the job done. And he has done that.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
And yeah, not turn this, this this four years or
several years.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Into just vendetta, right, I mean that's yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
I got to share this with you because it's a constituent.
It's hilarious.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
Uh oh yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Got put my glasses on real quick. Oh yeah, if
we got a second, because this is what this is
the text I got today. Hey, thanks again for last night.
I really appreciate everything you're doing, Troy. And I see
it's I think it's important to it's historic time in
our country. What a comeback, Troy. Ronald Reagan was great,
(13:56):
But Trump basically is saying Ronnie holding I be here.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Oh wow. That's uh. And you can't say who.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Ah, just a constituent, a constituent somebody in your twelfth
congressional twelfth Congressional district.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
He's fight, said he's name, but I'm not going to.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Yeah, Yeah, that's really cool. Man Congressman Troy Balderson in
studio with me
