Speaker 1 (00:00):
Was it a good weekend for you? Was it good?
That's the question. Was it a good weekend sports wise? No? No,
not not so much. Although there were some Ohio teams
that did win over the weekend. Of course, we know
the Indians into oh wait I meant, I mean the
Guardians whatever ended up knocking Detroit all the way.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
I think that that game was Saturday, wasn't it? Or wait,
I don't I'm all confused. Wasn't okay? So they won
and then you know, the Crew won. The Jackets ended
up winning.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
They were you know, I mean, they're one in one
and the home openers tomorrow for the Jackets.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
So there it is.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Coach Evison gets his first win as Columbus Blue Jackets
head coach. So congratulations to him. And then of course
we we waited all day for what turned into one
of the biggest disappointments ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever
for me as an OSU fan, and I know clearly

(01:05):
based on some stuff I was reading you posted, Josh
for you as for you as well, I was.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
A gut punch man. I was just an absolute gut punch.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
So where to begin kudos to the head coach is
what's a Dan Lanning of Oregon. He took an intentional
twelve man on a field penalty with ten seconds left
to provide for a runoff, because the clock keeps going
on a defensive penalty like that when you have toulman

(01:37):
on the field. It was genius's He sacrificed five yards
for four seconds off the clock. Genius move by his part.
That's Bill Belichickian. That is next level right there. Took
a twelve man on the field penalty, next level, yep,
as completely and to get four seconds drained off the clock.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
And we were still not in range at that point. Technically,
we still were not in range.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
And then Will Howard just went brain dead for a minute.
I just that was.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
I get to throw it out of bounds at least
give yourself a chance.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Oh that was heartbreaking. I mean that's like and to.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Time expires and we have a time out left. I
know that was the hardest thing.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
I'm like, no, like, you just keep staring at the
TV going that didn't just happen, really, I mean, they're
gonna reverse something, or something's.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Gonna Ryan Day is now one and seven against top
five teams. One and seven. We know his record against
TT and you or ttun. I just I'm not you know,
people keep saying he's lost nine games. Here's the problem,
they're all the big games. He's won one damn big

(03:01):
game in his entire OSU career when they beat Clemson
before they lost to you know, Alabama in the title game,
and what twenty one. That's honestly like, it's frustrating, and
I just don't understand. You have twenty million dollars in
nil money here buyos bribes if you will. We spend

(03:22):
twenty dollars on bribes. Our coaching staff is worth twenty
million dollars, literally, the best players and best coaches money
can buy. And to lose like that, Yeah, it was
on the road in Oregon's top three.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Da da da day.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
I just I don't want to hear the excuses.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Well, as far as excuses, there are excuses, and then
there are reasons, and there are you know, I think
you know anybody reasonable would agree with. Look, we had
two heavyweights slugging it out.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
It was that simple. What an amazing game, What an
amazing game. I just wish that we would have come
out on top.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
The only other saving grace, which I'm sure you've because
you probably read just about everything printed or even written
about this game over the weekend, because I read a
lot of stuff too. Is the twelve team playoff and
it happening this early in the season, we're both both
we're clearly, I mean, we still gotta We're still gonna
run out, and we still got a date with Penn State.
And look, don't look past anybody at this point because

(04:20):
the disappointment, unfortunately will probably set in with some of
the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
That's the that is just how it works. When you
lose some of that.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Hopefully it will not manifest and it won't take hold
and root and all of those things. But we do
have a bye week to shake it off and then uh,
you know, Nebraska comes into town, which by the.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Way, is a noon kickoff. But that game here we go.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Now Penn State, another night game on the road, Happy Valley,
wide out. He's gonna have another top five opponent. Well,
the other part of that is they nobody on this
team is going to be prepared for what they're going
to experience. A Happy Valley for the white out. There
is nothing like it in college football. LOGI will tell

(05:07):
you that.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Yeah, a lot of Roy Hall. They'll all tell you,
all these former Buckeyes will tell you there's nobody who's
been through this. Yet nothing is screwed on our season.
That's not what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
And I mean just people just show up in my
comments and they don't Reading is fundamental, people, Context is important.
You've got to start proving you can get over the.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Hurdle of a big game. That's what I'm saying for
Ryan Day in this team, Sure.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
They have got to prove they can get over get
the monkey off their back of not being able to
win a big game against a big time opponent.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Right and then later on in the season when you
have yet another big game, it won't be your first
one that you're.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Getting ready to win.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
That's another good point, you know.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
So now it's our first one that we've got to
sell and it's there, and there's a lot of first
that are going to be coming down. But man, I'm
telling you that right there, you got out coached by
that coach doing that too many men on the field
with the runoff, that's unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
That's next level.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
What was that defensive performance by the way, Ah, that's
normal squad look terrible, terrible.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Well, so I just kept telling my wife because she's,
you know, going, oh my god, what is what? You know,
She's freaking out, and I just said I was like, honey, listen,
this is the first real, big, huge, like legitimate test
for these guys, and we're going blow for blow.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
But it did feel like we weren't bringing enough. I
don't know, it's easy.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
To look back right and do the armchair quarterback, not quarterback,
the arm chair or four blitz is the entire game, right,
we weren't bringing it, you know, looking back again, you
start figuring it out once you look at film, or
you look back at it and you go, man, but
think about it, dude. Their offense was high powered, so
we it was all we could do to just match
blow for I was actually please that we were able

(07:01):
to match blow for blow with them pretty much all
the way to the end of the game. So it
never felt like either offense really was dominating because we
were dominating their defense and they were dominating ours. So
it's just kind of like whoever had the ball last
would win, except for we had the ball last, and
we and we left.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
A timeout on the board. I will never ever undergo
my god. Yeah, man, yeah, that was brutal.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
That was absolutely brutal.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
One of the one of more painful losses I can remember.
I just we got to get it turned around or else.
You're look, the white out and Happy Valley is two
weeks away or three weeks away, right before the Saturday
before election day?

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Is it a night game? For sure?

Speaker 4 (07:45):
By the way, it's say, if it's in Happy Valley,
it's gonna be a white out night game?

Speaker 2 (07:49):
You sure? Okay, I had not looked at that, so.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
I can't confirm it still technically to be determined, but
you come on, man, they're gonna put that on primetime.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
You would think, because that'll be versus four. Yeah, provided
both are still in this position.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
So when we get there.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Well, we're not gonna we're not kind host to Nebraska, right,
We're not.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Yeah, I don't think so either.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
You're right, But then the last two games of the
year are hard for us. Yeah, we know what the
last game is, But do you know who we have
right before them?

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Who?

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Indiana Number sixteen? Indiana? Uh, and don't sleep on Indiana
by the way.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Indiana's they're they're good.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Indiana's legitimately a good football team this year. It's amazing
they did. What did LOGI say on bucks Line the
other night, He goes, oh yeah, Indiana decided they want
to be a football school now too. Oh yeah, yeah,
in addition to basketball. Obviously that's the common but.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, speaking of bucks Line, Thursday night, we'll have it
for you from six to eight from Legacy Retirement Group. Yep,
will will be yeah, even though it's a bye week,
they'll have a lot to say about what just transpired
over the weekend and then start looking forward to Nebraska
coming to the Shoe for the noon kickoff, which will
be a week from you know this coming Saturday. I

(09:15):
thought you guys, I thought you guys. I mean, that
wasn't incredible. I think it was right before the half
and I'm switching gears here to your Browns, didn't you guys?
It was a it was a scoop six what what
what was it? It was a a block. It was
a help me out man like for the B block
fiel Gold okay, and he got he got returned, and

(09:38):
all of a sudden, you guys are tied up. It
was ten ten, right, that was the And I thought, man, Okay,
here we go. But yeah, once again, you probably weren't watching,
or were you?

Speaker 5 (09:49):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (09:49):
I was?

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
I don't know why, but I was. I get it, man,
you can't. It's like you can't help yourself. It's a
slow motion car accident. You're like, I, I need to
look away.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
I need to look. I can't stop looking.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
I like, honestly, we my son's got a cross country
meet on Sunday. I'm not even gonna watch the Browns Bengals.
Who gives a damn? Both those teams are dumpster fires,
and look, at least the Bengals still have a chance
to turn it around and get to the playoffs, right
the Browns, dude, and just Kevin Stefanski. Today we're not.

(10:23):
We're sticking to Sean. He gives us the best chance
to win. That guy, that guy's Larry elder Man. He's
being held hostage. It's an inside joke between Mark and
I never do that.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I understand, but you shouldn't do that on the radio.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
I get that inside jokes don't translate, but I swear
to god, he's being held hostage.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
We always make the joke that Larry elder was being
held hostage.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Those were Relief Factor commercials.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
It just looks like someone's off camera, just out of
the shot, like holding him hostage, making.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Him say But then because it was like the two
brothers are whatever the founded relief Factor.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
They're standing on either side of him, and I'm.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Like, can you just close your eyes to just the
way he looks, It's like you can feel the gun
and pressed against his back.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
You're gonna shill for our let's go pal or guess
what you've had it sore?

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Anyway, they're swimming with the fishes. That's where our comment
comes from.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Just and look, if you're not laughing at your own fault,
you wanted the explanation.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
So there it is for Larry then you know.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Also, I'm not as far as the Steelers go to
and look you might be going, look, shut up, you
guys are foreign too, don't There's.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
You can't have, you know. TJ.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Watt ends up punching out not one but two. We
recovered fumbles, a blocked field goal, I think an interception. Sure,
if we do that every game, we should be in
good shape. It's just it's silly what we're watching with
them right now. And you also have in the Raiders.
They're they're an absolute dumpster fire as well.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
We managed to lose two of them.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yeah, sorry about that. I forgot you guys were there
in Vain.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
No, it's okay. The Browns are literally the worst team
in football.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
We got a whole bunch of uh, let's see here
railroad Jason, are you there, brother?

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (12:17):
Clearly food and railroad is my area expertise the Buckeyes.
But the first drive when the Buckeyes went down and scored,
I haven't heard a whole lot said about the fact
that they seem to have got one over on Oregon
that with everything the experts were saying was that was
an interception, it.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Was we got we got away with one absolutely.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
That's I just I hadn't seen either one of you
come in on that on Facebook, and I didn't know
if maybe I'd missed it. But it's like, is that
the quiet part I wasn't supposed to say out loud, No, no.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
No, not at all.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
I look, I just I didn't put it on there
because I didn't take shots at anybody. I didn't do
anything as far as a post other than at least
one Central Ohio team. That's the only thing I put
on Facebook and I was talking about the Jackets and
just giving coach Evison a bit of a you know,
congratulations your first win as a head coach for CBJ,
and then kind of taking a side shot at the Buckeyes.

(13:13):
But no, to your point, Jason, absolutely we got away
with one.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
There.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
How many of those got away with ones? Have all
of our opponent opponents gotten away with So you're right, but.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Yeah we were. Yes, we're good for one. I'm not
complaining we got one. Did you imagine what the state
of Oregon's head would have collectively exploded?

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (13:33):
If we would have got the steel go off and won,
knowing that the first seven points on the board, yeah, good,
point wouldn't have great?

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Yeah, well, and a disturbing trend. Now that would have
been what was that four games in a row with
an interception from Will Howard. It's Will Howard is not
a problem with his team. Will Howard's good, but he
does make he is prone to it seems like keep
throwing these interceptions at least one second one game, and

(14:01):
it's just a matter of the defense having to, you know,
make sure it doesn't come back to haunt you. But
that'd be My only complaint about that, I mean his
his let's face. It will Howard's biggest problem in that
game was not that that almost what should have been
an interception.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
It was it was the run heard around the world.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Yeah, the last the very last play. Yeah, I mean it.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Was on his face when he splid to his butt.
I'm sure there's memes of that by now.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
He's probably going to have nightmares now on that one
for a while.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
The only thing I think that can just scrub that
from his memory is if we we will go in
and wax fantastic on Penn State.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
That's the only way I can do. I can think.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
The only thing that was better for looking like the
Keystone Cops was when the placeholder couldn't get the ball
down and all the Buckeyes are running at him and
he just threw it up in the air randomly. Whoever
was in the end, Zoe, He's like, I can't say
what it runs with, but do you remember the game
in the yard when we were kids smear though, Yeah, yeah,

(15:03):
I get in trouble sec. That's what it looked like
is they were all running at him and he just
threw the ball and you know, right, than that was
an epic moment where you know what his face would
had to look like if we could have got a
good shot of it.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Right, absolutely, and uh Railroad Jason, thanks man appreciate it. Yeah,
that was put that one in the rear view mirror,
and uh you scrubbed that from our memory?

Speaker 3 (15:31):
It was it was, it was.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
I didn't I actually didn't see that because I had
was I had to watch the game on my phone
because I spent.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Fifty dollars on a wrestling pay per view. Well, I'm
going to watch the wrestling paper. You can't get my
fifty dollars worth with my son, right, So I had
that on the big TV, and I'm like, god, Ohio State.
I'm like back and forth.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Oh really all night long?

Speaker 4 (15:52):
Yeah? You Buck guy's on the phone wrestling on the
TV traf
