Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the fifth Thing. Here we are Q and a day.
Every Tuesday, I share some questions that I'm getting from
y'all on the email, and then every Thursday, the actual
four Things podcast is uploaded. So if you're a new listener,
just filling you in on how this whole thing works.
Four Things every Thursday, Fifth Thing every Tuesday, and you
can send questions to four Things with Amy Brown at

(00:23):
gmail dot com. The first question is from Chloe. Hey, Amy,
I'm a junior in high school and I've been listening
to the Bobby Bones Show forever, so I don't know.
I definitely probably started the Bobby Bones Show before you
were born, Chloe. But anyway, back to Chloe's words, So,
I was obviously super excited when you started this podcast.

(00:46):
I listen every week and I think it's so so good.
I was wondering, with Stasia becoming a teenager soon, how
early you and your husband would let her date. I
know you've mentioned before your husband not wanting her to
date until thirty ha ha, but was wondering how that
might work, considering the English barrier, the cultural background differences, etcetera.
Thinks Okay, Chloe, I'm thinking maybe since you're a junior

(01:08):
in high school. That's right around the time that I
started dating, so maybe you might be starting to date.
And oh, this has taken it way back. I mean
my mom, yeah, that's about when she let me I
had to be sixteen years old. So I feel like
my husband and I that will be the same rule
in our house. Now. Today's Tuesday. Our daughter turns twelve.

(01:30):
This Thursday, A turns twelve years old, so we got
one more year till she's officially a teenager. But yeah,
she's gonna have to wait till she's sixteen. But I
really feel like dating will be later for us anyways,
because like you mentioned the English barrier, cultural stuff, like
she's just I love that she has zero interests in boys.
I know when I was eleven, twelve, thirteen, you know,

(01:53):
in junior high, my friends had boyfriends. I had boyfriends.
I mean, you would go out for like two weeks
or you would be going out and was so annoying
because my mom would always say, well, where are you going,
because obviously we weren't going anywhere we were twelve, But
you would talk on the phone at night. But then
when you would see each other at school in the hallways.
You would barely talk. It was like a really unique situation.

(02:17):
But I mean, you know, you would hang out at
friend's house and go to parties, and that would be
kind of like your boyfriend girlfriend. And when I say parties,
I mean legit like birthday parties or someone would maybe
have everybody over to a pool or something, not like
a party party. So Chloe, I think my husband jokingly
says thirty, but I think sixteen is a safe bet,

(02:37):
and we'll just see where she is at sixteen. We'll
see if she has any interesting guys or if she's
even met guys and and wants to go on dates.
I think it'll be really really hard to watch or
go out on that first day, but also really exciting
to see her, you know, be a kid. Like That's
what I want mostly for her to have, as she's
only been in America for a year and four months,

(02:59):
is to like really be a kid and experience all
the things that you know, I got to experience as
as a kid. And you know, life at an orphanage
is very different than life in a home here in America.
So I'm just all about her having experiences. So we'll
see what happens, but yeah, sixteen is the answer. So

(03:20):
next email from Ashton, Hey, Amy, I was wondering are
there any health fitness lifestyle podcasts that you're frequent I
love all your advice and topics on your podcasts, but
would love to find a few more to follow. You've
always been my inspiration to live a healthy lifestyle. So
thank you. Hope you and the fam are well, always
cheering for you. Well, thanks Ashton. So I thought of

(03:40):
like some I've shared, I think inspirational ones before, you know,
like I love Oprah's uh you know, super Soul Sunday conversations.
I love her master class when it comes to health
and fitness related stuff. Here's some go to ones that
I listened to now, I just feel like there's so
much out there. I mean, there's so much for people
to listen to. So I don't listen to these all

(04:02):
the time, but sometimes if I'm looking for information or
that's kind of you know, what I'm feeling, I want
to learn about for the day. These are people that
I trust. Bulletproof Radio with Dave Asbury. He's the guy
behind Bulletproof Coffee. Now he is like a guinea pig
on himself like he's bio hacking, and some of it
is really out there. Some of his interviews are very

(04:24):
smartest people ever. Some stuff is totally over my head,
but I do find it to be really interesting. It
should be easy for you to follow The Feel Good
Podcast with Kimberly Snyder. Y'll all know I love Kimberly.
She's the glowing green smoothie girl. And again, all of
these I don't I don't always doesn't mean I practice
every single thing that they're saying, but I do get
good information from them. Ben Greenfield Fitness. He's similar to

(04:46):
Dave Asprey, sort of a a bio hacker. Likes to
test things out and share them with you, like things
that make him feel better, smarter, stronger, younger. Um The
Rich Role podcast. I've listened to a few times. Ted
talks hell this good and then I haven't listened to
this one, but I've seen a lot of my friends
post about the Wellness Mama podcast, So that is another
healthy one I thought i'd throw out there just just

(05:08):
for that, So there you go, Ashton. Hopefully that helps,
But obviously listen to four Things with any real first,
just getting just kidding listen to whatever I'm all about,
like getting in all the information, and then seriously, I
do appreciate those of you that listen and then have
rated and reviewed the Four Things podcasts because I just

(05:29):
it means a lot. It helps get it out there
to more people, and I just appreciate it because definitely
trying to give you all content that you want and
you like. So if you genuinely like it, then put
up a review and maybe put up you know, however
many stars you think, maybe five? Probably five stars maybe
if you could. Okay, This next email is from Kate.
I absolutely love the podcast and have started living a

(05:51):
healthier life because you give so many amazing tips. I
was wondering if you were any of your lovely guests
had any good green smoothie recipes to air. I love smoothies,
but so many are all fruit and end up being
very high in sugar, so um, Kate, I am a
big fan of the Glowing Green Smoothie by Kim really Snyder,
and she does have a low sugar option, so her

(06:14):
normal glowing Green smoothie has a pair banana and apple,
but you divide the smoothie into thirds, so you're really
into three servings, so you're really only getting a third
of the pair, a third of the apple, and a
third of the banana um and it's all natural fruit sugars,
so it's nothing too crazy. And you have it's like
thirty fruit seventy percent vegetables, so you're getting way more

(06:38):
vegetables than you are fruit, which I think is a
good balance. But if you're trying to not have fruit
in your smoothies. Another smoothie I'm a big fan of,
like huge, is the Fab four smoothie. It's Kelly love
X Baby. She is awesome, which she's another person. She
doesn't have her own podcast, But if you ever go
into the podcast search bar, you can just type in

(07:00):
people's names that you like, like I'm a big fan
of Burnet Brown and Kelly Loveck. I'm just giving you
an example, and you can go in there and type
in their name and then you can see other podcasts
that they've been on and then you get more information
that way. In case it's someone that doesn't have their
own podcast, so be what b well by Kelly is her?
Maybe how you can find Kelly on podcast or just

(07:23):
Kelly lovek L E V E q U E and
she's got some great low sugar smoothies because she's all
about keeping your insulin level really even and keeping your
hunger hormones at bay. So she does have this SPA
smoothie and all of this, y'all can just do a
quick search to find. But it's the Fab four Spa smoothie,

(07:45):
and it's one serving a vanilla protein powder. I use
a p protein, a fourth of an avocado, one to
two tablespoons of chia seeds, a squeeze of lemon juice,
a handful of spinach, one small persian cucumber, one fourth
the cup of mint leaves, and one point five cups
or one and a half to two cups of unsweetened
vanilla almond milk or any nut milk of your choice.

(08:07):
But that's one that has no fruit in it and
is really good and really filling and has a lot
of yummy stuff in there for you. So check out
her smoothies. Another one that I love of hers, it
does have a little bit of blueberries in it, But
google her blueberry muffin smoothie, the Fab four Blueberry muffin
one because it's really really good. Oh and then also

(08:30):
related this, I can't remember I didn't pull this email,
but I do remember coming across it, so I'll just
address it here in case more of you are having
the same question. Um, someone was asking about vital proteins
and if they could mix it with a protein smoothie
protein powder smoothie and call the vital proteins collagen peptides.

(08:51):
It is protein, so in one scoop you get ten
grams and two scoops you get twenty grams. So, um, yeah,
you don't want to do protein overload, So no, I
would keep it completely separate. If you're doing like a
P protein or whatever kind of protein smoothie, drink that
and then at another time during the day throw in
the collagen peptides. You don't want to go into protein

(09:12):
overload in one serving, which is probably another interesting topic,
and I think I'm right on this. I'm just kind
of going off the dome here because I'm just talking
with you guys, but um, I'm pretty sure. For me,
as an active female, I try not to have any
more than twenty grams of protein at each meal because

(09:34):
then it becomes too much protein for my body to
break down. And I don't always have protein at every
meal By any means, but I try not to have
more than that, and I think that was advice I
got from Kelly Lovek as well. So maybe you could
enter in your high weight activity somewhere and try to
figure out how much protein that you need. Is that
considered your macros. I don't really count my macros. I

(09:56):
probably should because a lot of people that are into
that they swear by it, but I try not to
obsess over calories or intake. I'm just trying to do
that whole thing where I listen to my body and
eat what I want when I'm hungry, and I'm better
for it. But I don't know. Macro's could probably be
a healthy version, just to making sure I'm getting the
proper nutrients of carbs, protein and what's the other one?

(10:20):
What fat? Yeah? Carbs, rotein of fat? Okay. Next email
from Page, Hey, Amy, I've heard both you and Bobby
Stay on the Bobby Bones Show that you've had laser
hair removal. I think I'm getting it, and I want
to know your thoughts and experience with it. Love the
show and your podcast. I rock my four things tout
as a person daily. Keep up the hard work, okay,

(10:42):
Page Yeah, Bobby and I and this is like, even
if I wasn't endorsing for Ideal Image, I would be
saying this, but laser hair removal is amazing. Now it's
an investment. I get it. It's expensive. Not everybody can
do it. I know what Ideal Image they try to
make it easy for everybody coming in, taking a look
at their budget what they can get done. But I did.

(11:03):
I did start probably thirteen years ago is when we
started endorsing, and I got my under arms done first.
So that's why I'm taking it back thirteen years because
that's what I started with, and it was amazing, like
not even to deal with Jamie, your own arms, so awesome.
Then maybe like a year or two later, I decided
to get the bikini area done, also amazing, like no

(11:24):
more razor burn, no more like just dealing with having
you know, you get me like, it's just it's so great.
Then I always put off getting my legs done, even
though I was endorsing for them, and I could go
get it done so that way I could talk about it.
Obviously they want us to experience it, so I literally
could just go an Ideal Image and get my legs done.
It's great. And I get that it's not that easy

(11:44):
for a lot of you, and it is. It is
an investment in your body, but razors are super expensive.
And again this is zero percent an ideal image commercial.
I wouldn't keep doing ideal image though on the Bobby
Bones Show if I wasn't a fan. We don't endorse
for anything that we don't genuinely lie. So um, all
this to say, I finally decided to get my legs

(12:06):
done about a year and a half ago, and I
was like, why did this take me eleven years to do?
Why I should have done my legs a long time ago.
So obviously you know how I feel about that. It's
pretty awesome. I definitely have no regrets. I think I'm
out of places to laser hair removal or I would
do it. But Bobby got the area like as a guy,

(12:28):
he got had some like weird hairs growing out of
his like neck and shoulder area, so he had those
taken care of and boom, he doesn't have to worry
about hair coming back right there. So it is for
guys or girls. But page, if you're thinking about doing
it and it is something that you can, you know,
invest in. I don't think you will regret it. Okay.
Next email is from Alison. Hey, Amy, you've mentioned a

(12:51):
lot of things that you do in the mornings. Celery juice,
hot lemon water, Macha lattes. What order do you do
them in? I think you mentioned celery juice needed to
be on an empty stomach. Thanks so much. Can't wait
to keep listening, waiting for my four things pull over
as I type. So, Allison, thanks for the support and
ordering a four things pull over. I'm going to talk

(13:11):
to you all about some squa stuff in just a second.
But let me answer Allison's question. Um, yeah, I don't.
I don't do all of those things every single morning.
Hot lemon water I try to do every morning, and
I do that right when I wake up. That's just
an easy way to wake up. Maybe chug sixteen ounces
of water, then do eight ounces of hot lemon water,

(13:34):
which is if y'all haven't heard me talk about it before,
it's just eight ounces of hot, like not too hot,
but warm um water. And then you add the juice
from half of a fresh lemon and squeeze it in
there and just you know, sip on it, but don't
take forever. Still drink it while it's hot, and then
try to get that into your system and it will
help prep your body. You'll continue detoxing, because as you've

(13:57):
been sleeping, your body has been detoxing, and you'll continue
that process and set everything up for the day. But
I do that, and then if I have celery juice, Yeah,
you wanted on an empty stomach, but to get that
hot lemon water out, I mean that's like nothing so weight,
like thirty minutes and then you could have celery juice,
and then thirty minutes after that you could have breakfast, breakfast,

(14:17):
whatever it's healthy for you to have for breakfast that day.
Because I just want to make it clear, I don't
make celery juice my breakfast a lot of times, though
my Macha latte will be because it has if I
add some of the bulletproof brain octane. It's got a
little bit of fat in there from the um emptyc yeah,

(14:38):
emptyc oil, and then which is the brain octane, And
then it's got protein or the collagen peptides from the
vital proteins. It's got the nut milk, it's got a
little bit of cinnamon um and it feels more of
and that's something I can stip on. And because I'm
doing the morning show, I don't have a lot of
time to eat, so it just, you know, while I'm walking.

(15:00):
So the Macha I sip on, especially if it's warm,
it's like soothing. It's like my latte, and it keeps
me comforting. But to give you an order, let's say
I were to have all three things in one day.
I would wake up have my hot lemon water, then
maybe thirty minutes later I'd have some celery juice, and
then maybe thirty minutes after that, I would start sipping
on my macha latte, and then hopefully at some point

(15:22):
in the near future after having that, I would have
either eggs and oatmeal or a piece of toast with avocado,
or maybe a waffle. I did get that waffle maker
for my birthday. Oh, I have a good waffle recipe
I should share with you all while we're talking about this.
And I got this one from kill Junkie, And I'll
just tease that I'm going to be interviewing her soon

(15:45):
and she should be coming on not this Thursday, but
next Thursday. I really love her stuff. But she has
the easiest single serving waffle. If you've got a waffle maker,
You've got to make this because it's so easy. I'm
literally going on her website and looking it up right
now because this is something I want to share with
you all. Even my son likes this. He calls it
his fluffy waffle. So you do one egg, one banana half,

(16:10):
a teaspoon of vanilla extract, two and a half tablespoons
of coconut flour, one fourth a teaspoon of cinnamon, one
fourth a teaspoon of baking soda, and a pinch of salt,
and then you just mix all of that up really
good and make it really really mushy. And you're kind
of thinking, is this really the right consistency from my
waffle maker? Just put it in it is and then

(16:31):
I put my waffle maker on level three, shut it
when it beeps, lifted up. It's perfect. It's ready. I mean,
it's so good. I love it. And a lot of
waffle recipes have way more carbs than this. Um, they
have like a bunch of coconut oil and on which
I'm a big fan of coconut oil, but I don't need,
you know, a fourth a cup of it in my waffle,

(16:52):
Like I'd rather have it somewhere else, and it says
here on kille Junkie's website, so you can just go
to kill junkie dot com for this recipe. I guess
I didn't have to read it to you all, but
it's dairy free, gluten free, and paleo if that's something
that you're into. And again, I'm excited to interview her
soon and to have her on the four Things podcasts
because she's got a lot um to share and a

(17:13):
lot of amazing recipes. But then she has the eating
disorder past that she's very open with, and she's all
about positive body image and encouraging us to, you know,
love ourselves. So that's that. Okay, let me see. I
think that that's it. That's all the questions I have
for today. But before we all go, I told her
I had a little squat update, and that is that

(17:34):
we have extended our custom Mother's Day tote um date.
We've extended the cut off date, I guess because it
was supposed to be yesterday, Monday, the twenty two, but
we've extended it a few more days and now Thursday
might be the cut off. But we just realized we
could squeeze in a few more, and so many of

(17:58):
y'all are trying to get them in. And I know
it's so hard to think of your mother's favorite four things,
but I promise you if you just ask a family
member you know to help you come up with the
best four or maybe your mom's best friend, or you
go to the hashtag four things tote, search that hashtag
on Instagram and so many totes, thousands of totes will
come up, and that is easy inspiration. And I just

(18:22):
also to Mary and I really want to extend the
opportunity to raise more for um project Meta Share because
they are doing life saving work down in Haiti, and
that's who SPAT is supporting right now. And I just
really feel like a lot of moms out there will
love receiving their own personalized custom tote and then love

(18:43):
how thoughtful it is from their kid, but at the
same time love that it's also giving back to new
moms and babies in Central Plateau, Haiti, where I mean
women before this maternity center opened, and they could, you know,
provide a safe, clean and ironment for these women to
give birth like they were having to walk miles and

(19:04):
miles and miles and sometimes if you go into labor
in the middle of the night, you can't do that,
and then it's not safe, and then you're giving birth
at home, which also is not safe. I mean, Haiti
has the highest mortality rate for giving birth in the
Western hemisphere. So just keep that in mind as you're
doing some Mothersday shopping. We've extended so you at least

(19:26):
have until Thursday, and then I'll know by numbers on
Thursday where we are with production capacity and if we'll
be able to extend it past that. But really the
next few days, if you're listening to this and you
want an awesome gift for your mom, like, I cannot
recommend this enough. And I'm not just saying it because
I behind the totes and I think that they're super cool,

(19:47):
because they are, Like, even if I wasn't, it would
just be something that I would think was an awesome
gift and that y'all should consider doing. So. You can
go to radio Amay dot com to find out more
about a SPAW, or you can go to shop spa
dot com. But a lot of times it's easier for
you to remember Radio a me because you may not
be able to remember how to spell SPA, but it's

(20:08):
e s p w A, So anyway, you're awesome. Thank
you for listening, thank you for sending questions. Always appreciate it,
and hope you have an amazing, amazing day. And it's
beautiful wherever you are, and if it's not, somehow you
find the beauty wherever you are. Something like that, okay
