Nick James reports live from the scene of the Loafers Lodge fire - Wellington Mornings with Nick Mills

Authorities are still working to determine the death toll from this morning's hostel fire in Newtown.

The blaze broke out in the Loafers Lodge on Adelaide Road just before 12.30am.

Newstalk ZB's Nick James was at the scene.

He told Nick Mills on Wellington Mornings there's an eerie feeling.
